Between the two of them, imo, he is much more of an anxious overthinker who will think he's making the most tactically sound decision because he really has thought it through with all the information he has access to -- but he always fails to give full weight to considering the best case scenario when it's something he wants. When it's something he feels selfish about. And boy, does he consider Jason Todd a best case scenario.

And mmmm I am so very here for jealous! and possessive!Jason. Especially when Jason didn't realize what he was feeling until after he's already acted on it. It is the bread and butter. Bonus points if he's not even trying to show it to Tim. Tim isn't the problem.

For instance: Tim's in the club, looking to see if he's just horny and needs to get it out of his system, come on, I cannot muck up the good thing I have just because I want some fuck-- and his prospective dance partners just start to dry up.

Because the big guy who looks like he's done time and a half keeps glaring daggers, keeps shoving his old partners off the dancefloor or knocking into them when they've come back with drinks for the cute twink they were totally gonna score with. Not anymore.

Jason thinks he's doing it because he's looking out for Tim. Because anyone with eyes can tell they just want Tim for one thing, and he deserves so much better than that.

When Tim realizes what's going on, he's already been grinding on this hot buff guy who came up behind him for two songs in a row. Tall, dark and silent keeps stopping Tim from turning around, and he doesn't slip a hand any lower despite all of Tim's silent offerings. Weird, but the anonymous gentleman act is kinda hot, so--

And then he glances at the round, silvered mirror in the corner. He clocks the white streak in the head of black hair dipped low over his, the gun callouses running rough over his bare stomach. He stiffens up in Jason's arms just long enough that he knows Jason knows he's been made. He drags him off to the bathrooms ("come on, handsome") and the second the doors shut and they're alone, he whirls on him.

They argue. Tim is embarrassed and it's coming out as anger, Jason is annoyed (and still processing the revelation he'd been having on the dancefloor, the one where Tim was lithe and warm in his arms, his long fingers twining through what hair he could reach at Jason's nape, where he smelled like sweat and musk and Tim and Jason found himself wanting to know if the gleaming patch of skin in the bare crook of his neck would taste the same--)

Jason is annoyed and has no explanation that will satisfy Tim. He wants to know why Tim ghosted him when the last mission they worked ended in bloody, near-disaster, and the case it was tied to still hasn't fully wrapped. He gets taking a few days off to recover, but it's been longer than that. Way longer, with no contact, no explanation, no 'I got shot so I'm gonna need a week or maybe three'. Wasn't Tim going to finish the job? He told Jason he would help. Did he lie?

It yanks the rug out from under Tim. Makes him feel small, and selfish. He promises Jason he'll come back to the case, he just had some things to figure out. But that's done now.

Jason loses the thread on his irritation as Tim deflates, hates the hunched, defensive hug he's giving himself, looking vulnerable and tired in his scanty clubbing fit under the cold LEDs flickering above the bathroom sink. He catches sight of the fresh pink scar, the one he'd just felt out under his palms not ten minutes ago with something bordering on relief. (And hunger.)

He wants to reach out, "Tim--?"

But Tim brushes past him, fleeing out the door and disappearing through the crowd before Jason can stop him.

Everything is fine. Totally 100% fine and dandy--

--is what they both are telling themselves.

Tim is doing his best to stifle his feelings, stomps down on them ruthlessly every time he catches them flaring up, and is counting the seconds until this is finally over and he can get to work dousing the massive fucking torch he's been holding in peace.

Tim comes back to help Jason with the rest of the case, but he's palpably distant, brittle when they banter-- and Jason hates it. He still remembers how Tim felt against him, how he'd melted into Jason, silently begging to be touched. For Jason to touch him.

It's been quietly rearranging some things in Jason's head. He's replayed their argument in the bathroom over and over. He thinks about Tim, about the timing of his disappearance--

(About the bullet he'd dug out of Tim's body, silver and red, and the desperate flow of his blood over Jason's wrists. About the night spent monitoring Tim's condition in a rundown safehouse, feeding him ice chips and brushing the hair out of his eyes, brushing off every bullshit attempt he made to tell Jason he was fine.)

--about figuring things out and avoiding Jason's eyes. And Jason wonders.

They have one last big bust to make, after days of stewing in their own unresolved tension. It goes down textbook; easy. In and out.

Except, at the last minute, during extraction, Jason gets shot. And Tim freaks.

He puts their plane on autopilot the moment they're clear (maybe a few moments before they're clear, actually) and dashes to where Jason is groaning just inside the bay doors. He's tight-lipped and grim-faced; his hands are fast and efficient, but shaking.

"Tim," Jason tries to say, but he gets shushed with a glare.

"Don't talk," Tim clips out. He undoes straps and disarms panels Jason thought were secret, and then he pulls out a pair of medical scissors.

"Tim--" Jason tries again, more urgently, but Tim doesn't even glance at him, just cuts through Jason's undershirt to expose--

"Oh," he breathes.

"Yeah. I'm okay," Jason sighs.

The crunched up bullet is caught in Jason's last layer of kevlar. The round they'd fired on him had been dramatically big, but Jason gets in firefights basically 24/7. He's padded to hell and back, even more than your average Bat. He'll have a wicked bruise and his rib might be sore for a week, but that's about it.

That's it.

Tim is still for an achingly long ten seconds, breathing shallow as he stares at Jason's armor. The proof that it's effective. And then he collapses.

He sits back heavily, elbows on his bent knees as he rubs his pale face. Jason watches as he visibly tries to pull himself back together, but relief keeps shaking him apart. Jason sits up.

Tim startles, tries to stand; Jason doesn't let him.

"Come here," he entreats, tugging Tim closer, firmly by the knees, to sit between Jason's legs with his thighs around Jason's waist, trembling under Jason's hands. "Don't go."

Tim twists his fists in Jason's jacket collar, eyes squeezing shut as Jason tips their foreheads together. Like he can't stand it. Caught in fight or flight-- but flight has been denied him.

"I know," Jason murmurs. "But don't go this time. Don't."

Tim drags in gasping breaths, and Jason runs soothing palms over his thighs, his waist, his arm, his neck. He thinks he understands. This feeling is too big. And if Tim is feeling half of what Jason feels, he gets why he'd want to run from it.

"Don't," he begs against Tim's mouth anyway. He kisses Tim until he moans into Jason, until he's sunk his fingers into Jason's hair; until he's sure he'll stay.

-TRAVIS: He's a guy who under good circumstances likes having someone he can joke around with, so although he takes awhile to trust other peoples' intentions, he'd be all about having a partner who's playful. He can even put on the tough-guy "all right c'mere you little shit" scowl and chase 'em if that's what they're hoping for. Only hard rule is NO annoying him while driving-- he takes road safety very seriously!

-HARRY: I see him as someone who comes off as very serious, to the point that he almost seems like a square, but as soon as he's in a good mood the sense of humor comes out. The seriousness might make him look like an easy target to annoy, but you must remember: he raised Heather Mason. He has a straight face made of steel and underneath it, something even more terrifying: the capability to be so much more annoying than you. He will put up with prodding until it almost stops being fun and then he will turn around and deliver a dad joke so targeted that you get vaporized on the spot.

-JAMES: It depends a lot on where he is in the timeline, but he probably wouldn't like it lmao. He has a hard time reading social cues and, especially post-SH2, is both withdrawn, easily-irritated, and wary of others' intentions. So he'd spend a lot of time sitting there baffled and annoyed, wondering what the hell your problem is. THAT SAID, I think that at his core underneath all the baggage and misery, a happy and trusting James is a James that enjoys being gently and affectionately bothered. Prior to her illness, I think Mary brought out his sense of humor and they regularly annoyed one another on purpose. The trust is key though-- if he doesn't realize someone's trying to be affectionate, he just assumes they're being an asshole for the sake of being an asshole.

-HEATHER: Short answer: Heather is the s/o who is being annoying. Less-short answer: If Heather likes you, she goofs on you. That's just how she is. This is true whether you're a grouch or a fellow goof. In a scenario where Heather's got a partner with similar gremlin vibes to her own, they become completely imparsable to all those around them because they're just constantly doing weird shit to each other. If you needle her, she'll needle right back, and it will only escalate.

-HENRY: He doesn't do a lot of verbal banter, and like James, he takes a long time to really open up. In his case, he's shy and skittish and probably too worried about accidentally crossing a line to do much bothering in return. However, once he knows it's okay to "fight back", his unique brand of silent Henry retaliation kicks in. It will be quiet in the house and then you'll hear the first three notes of a song you hate play on his phone from somewhere in another room. This is your life now.

-ALEX: Alex is a big brother. He puts his s/o in a headlock and noogies them until they say uncle.

it makes sense for him to be so involved. sure, he had help from the ragnvindr family, but kaeya did the most work when it came to raising his baby sibling.

when his father abandoned him in mondstadt, he also abandoned his youngest child, [name]. they were about two or three at the time.

he doesn't necessarily hold the same resentment towards the seven that other khaenri'ahns might, though he doesn't exactly lean in their favor either.

still... kaeya thanked the seven that they didn't get deathly sick (they were so young and frail that it really was a valid concern) that night in the pouring rain, despite how badly they shivered and cried. he'll never forget how utterly visceral their sobs were.

he's very physically affectionate!

ruffling their hair, leading them along by the dip in their back, shoving them (lovingly)... he's clingy, really, and just likes being able to touch his sibling because it reminds him that they're safe and alive.

if they ever wanted to become a knight, he's right there to support them. if they wanted to become an adventurer, again, he's there to help them out.

whatever they want to do with their life, he's their greatest cheerleader.

kaeya will always support them, but he's also very tough on them when it comes to training them physically if their aspiration demands physical strength.

they want to be a knight? an adventurer? a traveler, perhaps? alright, but they need to take him down in a fight first.

he makes every duel with him the hardest fight of their life.

kaeya needs to be confident that they can effectively defend themselves, and if he isn't? sorry. they aren't going anywhere until he is certain beyond a shadow of a doubt. he needs to know they can handle themselves, because—as much as he hates to admit it—he may not always be there to protect them.

When Riddle shows up at Ramshackle’s front door right after classes have ended for the day, you’re surprised to see him. Grim nearly causes you to fall on your ass when he bolts away from Riddle, the experience of being collared likely fresh in his mind.

“I hope you don’t mind me intruding, I know you’re a very busy student.” Riddle huffs, looking more upset than usual, “But someone stole one of Heartslabyul’s tarts. I’m sure you understand the importance of such a dish. We simply can’t proceed without it.”

You hum thoughtfully, pretending to contemplate his request. “Well, if you need detective work done I’m your guy.” you grin, “But I’m not doing it for free. A tart for a tart, Housewarden.” You take delight in watching his face burn red.

Riddle does agree, hissing something about how fair is fair and that he’s certain Trey could handle making another tart. Grim cheers at the prospect of sweet treats, and you scratch behind his ear before you follow Riddle out and to Heartslabyul.

You work your way around your main suspects, but all of them seem to have alibis. Trey makes a comment about how it’s really not a big deal, and before you can shut him down for the sake of your tart, Riddle does.

“He agreed to help bring the perpetrator to justice. His service is essential.” Riddle says, and that successfully stops any more opposition.

You look over the list of information you collected, all the alibis of “I was tending to the hedgehogs,” “I was super focused on my new hairstyle!! I didn’t have the time to steal the tart,” “I was with the flamingos with Heartslabyul Student F,” “I was helping the Vice Housewarden in the kitchen,” “I was helping Cater pick out a new hairstyle for the Unbirthday Party tomorrow—” Wait.

“Riddle, I know who did it.” you positively beam, elated that your detective work has led you somewhere, “Can you do me one last favor and get this student for me?”

Riddle always bursts into a flurry of rage when he sees the alibi you’ve singled out, and it doesn’t take any more convincing for him to drag over none other than Ace Trappola.

“Hey, what gives man?” Ace huffs, shooting you an irritated look. You click your tongue and show him your notepad, pointing to his alibi.

“You were helping Cater with his hair, correct?” you ask, lifting a single brow in inquiry.

Ace nods, clearly confused as to where you’re going with this. Riddle, to his credit, listens and waits for you to spell it out.

“I’ve helped Cater with his hair before. He spends thirty minutes blow drying, most of the time with his eyes closed and humming along to the music he blasts. Then, he brushes it out, which takes another five minutes. You would have had to sit through thirty five minutes of Cater paying attention to nothing but his hair. After you chose his hairstyle, you only had to be back in time for him to pick out accessories. Not only that, you’re a notorious troublemaker that has a knack for slipping out of place you’re supposed to be, like Orientation. And lastly, you’ve taken and eaten a tart before, so you have a track record for this sort of thing.” you ruffle his hair, an affectionate gesture to help soften the blow of his punishment, “Case closed, man. Sorry.”

“Ace?!” Riddle yells, face red as steam practically pours out of his ears.

You can only thank Riddle for the tart you’re about to get as Ace is collared. Totally worth it.

Well, it's not like HiMERU can help it. You're just way too fun and easy to tease, it makes his heart flutter and do things he had never felt before. In short, he was way too in love with you. Hisoillu is... I mean... they are kind of sort of engaged (?) so. Yeah, it makes sense. Also, I can think of no one else in the universe who should be subjected to close proximity with these two on a regular basis hdfhbsdhj. Congrats, you're perfect for each other, just never involve anyone else in what you've got going on ever. Truthfully, I'm kind of indifferent towards it as a ship. It makes sense to me, but it's not something I actively seek out in fanworks I suppose. It's just, yeah, Hisoka and Illumi are together. Happy for them lol. I guess it's mostly because I think murder is their love language and I just... can't see them being romantic with each other in a lot of the more typical ways that characterize many fanworks. Do they want to kill each other, or are they into each other? The answer is both - the murder is an intrinsic aspect of the "being into each other" hdjfbvhd. That said, I think they have a pretty healthy respect for each other, due to probably being evenly matched, I'd say. I think Hisoka genuinely finds Illumi good company, and Illumi readily has fairly casual conversations with Hisoka. Their dynamic is kind of fascinating actually, and I do honestly think they're kind of perfect for each other. Diversity win??? Loss??? I'm honestly not sure lmao

Leopika :') I love the potential for them. Sadly, they don't have all that many interactions in the canon manga, so I would ordinarily say it doesn't make a huge amount of sense, but then we have the 99 anime and the radio skits who seem determined to ship them so hfbgjdhj I have no clue. I'm weird about this ship because I tend to alternate between "yeah they're cute" and "oh god. oh god. them. AAARGGHHH" and experiencing emotional damage hahaha. I am like this with no other ship. It's very strange to me.

The one thing is that I'm extremely picky with Kurapika characterization, in any art or story. If Kurapika doesn't read right to me, I just can't suspend my disbelief. I'm really not big on the "mom and dad" characterization, though no shade to anyone who is.

Peak Leopika dynamic to me takes into account not just Leorio's concern and Kurapika's walls, but also their mutual stubbornness and Kurapika's hilarious tendency to annoy Leorio on purpose. To me, I've always felt that he likes Leorio because he's a guy who wears his heart on his sleeve and values individual lives so strongly, so he kind of checks that he hasn't changed that much when they see each other. I think it's kind of relieving for Kurapika, in a way, to know that Leorio will always be himself - "same old Leorio" kind of deal.

I also think Kurapika is just a little shit hjgbvsjdh

But no, I love that Leorio clearly eases up some of the pressure Kurapika feels, and seems to make him feel better about things- that's probably half the reason he keeps him at arms length. I think affectionate bickering is their love language. I also wish people noticed a little more that it's Kurapika who actually seriously initiated friendship between them, not Leorio. In most cases in the Hunter Exam, it was Kurapika approaching Leorio and showing a clear interest in sticking with him and helping him pass and achieve his dream. I think it's incredibly meaningful that one of the first people Kurapika meets and takes a liking to is this guy who wants to become a doctor - the doctor that Kurapika had left in the first place to go looking for. Anyways, I'm really looking forward to see what role Leorio will play in the current arc (just to have more Leorio, honestly, pls Togashi I miss him...), as I'm sure he will eventually find out about Emperor Time and OH BOY I'm sure that will go over well.

Very much a friends to lovers type of guy so in the crush stages theres a lot of back and forth flirting going on. He gives compliments pretty freely. Sometimes they’re just nice genuine ones. ‘Huh I like that shirt.’ or ‘Looks good.’ but most of the time they have that teasing tone. ‘Aw did you dress up just for me?’ It’s got that half joking, half curious vibe behind it. 

A lot of his flirting comes across through how much he talks to you in general. He will not waste his time or bother with people he doesn’t have interest in. He’s the kind of person to get to know someone before relationship so he’ll feel you out. 

Sending messages. Likes sending pictures. Not necessary flirty pictures (although will send just selfies sometimes and you flirt back and forth telling each other you look hot) but just general day to day pictures in order to connect. Sends those ‘Damn wish I was there with you.’ messages. 

Physical messing around like pretending to annoy you. Messing with your hair. Poking your cheek. Nuzzling his face against your shoulder. He’s a physically affectionate person and likes pushing the boundaries on friendship while crushing. 

Seeks out physical touch and takes comfort in it. If he’s comfortable enough to sleep on your shoulder and let you make fun of him then you’re in. 

Osamu Miya (Natural but Shy):

The kind of guy who moves at a steady pace with the subtle kind of flirt. The flirts that come out of no where and knock you out. It’ll be a normal conversation then ‘Oh is that new? huh, it’s nice.’ Soft smile and immeditately moves on in conversation. Like? did that just happen?

It’s also that he has his own brand of flirting where you have to know him to know he’s flirting. Ditching his brother to hang out with you? BIG deal. Sharing his food with you? BIG deal. Even making food for you.

It’ll seem like a friends thing with him too but that’s how he operates. He’s a stealthy friends to lovers guy. He’ll come in one day and be like ‘Oh, I made these did ya want to try?’ or ‘Here I made this for ya.’ Then when you’re done it’s. ‘Tell me what ya think. I wanna know ya opinion.’ LIKE BOY. The sweetest.

Learns your favourite drinks and snacks and will keep them on hand and just give them to you like gifts. ‘Gotcha something.’ Acts like it’s nothing too but wears that soft little smile.

Teasing is kind of his flirting too. That’s how he gets along with people by default but it’s teasing banter. If you come hang out with him or visit him a lot it’s all ‘Can’t get enough of me, huh?’ Osamu please.

If you give any of this back by the way he’ll love it because it’s his love language and he’ll give you that oh so sweet Osamu smile with a hint of a blush. He can give it but gets all shy getting it. He just doesn’t expect it? Sometimes he just gets so bold he forgets reciprocation exists and shuts down.

Atsumu Miya (Not a natural but has some charm): 

I see him being somewhere in the middle. Like he can be super obnoxious to his fangirls, that’s canon, he does not give a shit about being all smooth and hot. 

But he also has natural charisma and charm. However around his crush? A goddamn mess. 

The wrong brash thing always comes out of his mouth. You always catch him when he’s fighting with his brother being a hot, loud mess. You see him being all dramatic when he flubs his serve. 

See him being a weeping crybaby mess when his gran sends him a  message that he’s a good boy. It’s actually endearing but he doesn’t know that. He’s just embarassed.

Then when he tries to talk to you it’s all bright blushes and loud unclear sentences at first. What? Takes a sec to cool down. 

Okay now you can understand him he tries the smooth stuff. ‘Hey did ya catch my game yesterday?’ Then Osamu comes in with the ‘Ha the game ya flubbed ya serve so bad you fell flat on ya face?’ cue their arguement. 

Will definitely always approach you though no matter how much he embarasses himself. If there’s one thing about Atsumu, he is persistent. The only thing that will stop him is your disinterest. Your interest and laugh (even if it’s at his expense) spurs him on. All the embarassment is worth it.

His flirting is also just asking questions. Always asking questions about you. Wants to know EVERYTHING about you. He never shuts up so the words just keep coming and coming he’s basically gushing over you wanting to talk to you so bad. (Tell him his hair is cool if you think he needs a breather he’ll shut down for a moment)

Tetsurou Kuroo (Thinks he’s a natural but becomes a mess)

In this mans head before he puts the flirting into practice he’s the smoothest motherfucker alive. He’s so cool. The coolest person you’ve ever seen and he is going to wow his crush. He’s going to wow you. 

The second he sees you though his head is empty, his cheeks are burning and his mouth betrays him. He’s a hot mess. Goes to say good morning to you and ask how you are but he fumbles so hard over his words. It’s the funniest, sweetest thing too.

After the least smooth recovery of laughing himself off he’ll just stick with an ‘Um, hi.’ and go from there. If you laugh he figures at least he got a positive reaction and that was totally the plan. HE’s IN.

Every time he sees you doesn’t know what to talk about? His mind literally goes blank. Kind of just blurts words out? like ‘COFFEE!’ or ‘VOLLEYBALL!’ or ‘CLASS!’ without thinking and it’s up to you to nod your head and piece it together. Please be patient with him.

Like one time you deduced he wanted to get coffee. The other time he wanted to talk to you about volleyball. The other time was something about class. Once you get him talking he kind of relaxes and his mind fills with words again. 

Once his words come back to him he tries flirting but this dork still doesn’t have the smoothest game. It’s all fun facts and smart ass remarks filled with banter which is still fun though. 

His idea of flirting is ‘Hey did you know *insert random fact*’. If you counter his fact with a fact of your own he’ll say something like ‘Wow, I should treat you to a drink for teaching me something I didn’t know.’ and that’s the closest to smooth he gets. 

The kind of guy who would say ‘Why thank you I grew it myself!’ if you compliment his hair. That’s how ‘smooth’ he is lmao. I love this dork. 

Tobio Kageyama (Doesn’t know how to flirt but still pulls off sweet things)

My sweet sweet Kageyama tries his best but his head is just full of volleyball okay flirting is not on the agenda! Neither are crushes he just kind of feels very deeply for you kind of like you’re his favourite person. 

So because you’re his favourite person he wants to share his favourite things with you. Volleyball being one of them. Talks about it a lot! But not just that he wants to know if you have a thing you’re passionate about. (God if it’s volleyball too he just will talk to you about it for hours.) 

Will buy two things where he used to buy one because he wants you to have one. It’s him wanting to share his likes again. His milk drinks, yoghurt drinks? Two now. Will always offer one your way. Kind of blushy about it. It’s endearing. Again he doesn’t see it as a crush really unless it’s pointed out to him. 

Invites you to games and to watch him play in general. He wants you to love volleyball as much as he does. It’s everything to him. He’ll spend time with you outside of that setting as a compromise if necessary. 

Kageyama’s version of flirting is looking up to see you in the stands before a game and giving a subtle nod with a small smile. It’s meeting up with you afterwards and thanking you for your support. It’s being happy that you were there. It’s discussing all the things that went right and went wrong because he feels comfortable to do so. 

It’s Kageyama saying that he likes hanging out with you but he probably won’t be the one to bring it up first. It’s him figuring out he has crush only when you or someone else points it out to him. It’s all the things he does because you’re his favourite person without realising it. 

Timeskip Kageyama though, after taking all these years to realise what it all means might become a little bolder and more intent with his actions. And there will be a day he’ll confess he realises why you’re his favourite person.

“Who upset you? Hm?” He asks, leaning on his hand on the arm of the couch beside you. “Who do I have to talk to?”

A smile crept onto your face, a small flutter in your heart at his defensiveness. Sadly it’s not that easy.

“No one,” the look on his face tells you he doesn’t believe you. “I swear it’s no one — I just don’t feel lovable, like no one likes me.”

Sukuna scoffs in your face, his other hand grabbing your chin with his palm towards you, a threatening move if it weren’t for the words he whispered shortly after.

“You’re the most lovable person to exist. Anyone who doesn’t like you isn’t worth your time. You have me and all your friends who are grateful to know you.” Sukuna seals his words with a kiss, hard and slightly aggressive in an attempt to show you how serious he is. “I’ll go get you some ice cream.”

He may not be the most affectionate or delicate with words, but you can’t deny that you feel the slightest bit better when he leaves the house.
