“Don’t… don’t tell him you think dingbat fonts are cool.”
AUGH @forgettable-au fanart :3 been on another roll with it (in agony constantly)
theres some untranslated wingdings cause i love translating it myself, hope others do too :D
not confident on how “canon” or in-character this is but- I HAD FUN this AU has really got me in the rendering spirit, I really enjoy taking inspiration but also adding mu own silly twists on it and AAA everything looks even more tasty now
I view this as them in New Home after getting something to eat (after the last page update) and heading back the same way since Alphys’ place is on the way to The Lab. The font convo comes back up again and then yeah
Alsoooo if youre interested in behind the scenes stuff heres the speedpaint :3
also i never poster about this- but i had another forgettable dream. it didn’t make any godamn sense. I woke up and drew the only scene I could remember:
Wingdings and Sans had a fight and ig wingdings killed Sans 😭😭😭 in a stairwell for some reason
and current Sans, Papyrus brother Sans, is like watching all of this and was brought here by Lancer like a Ghost Of Christmas Past type situation. Idk why. I choose not to attempt to make sense of this anymore. But i swear this is an actual dream i had 😭

⭐The Magic Drawing Pad! 📱✨
I was surprised to receive a Tablet from XPPen in exchange for a review. Here’s my experience! 📝✨
Initially, I thought the tablet's design, meant for drawing away from a workspace and outdoors, didn't suit my lifestyle. As an introvert who rarely leaves the house or is socially active, I decided to review it from a homebody’s perspective.
I've never drawn on a display tablet before, only on regular digital tablets like the Wacom Bamboo and my current Huion Inspiroy Ink. Now, I have the XP-Pen Magic Drawing Pad to try out!
At first, it was frustrating! Everything I drew looked crooked and ugly, and I felt like a fraud. But it wasn't the tablet's fault; it was like learning to draw all over again since I was used to the computer and had abandoned traditional art.
I was rushing, thinking I should be perfect immediately. I took a deep breath and remembered that learning a new tool takes time and patience. Once I gave myself the time to adapt, things started to work out.
I only explored the tablet's basic functions, but its interface is similar to an iPad or cell phone and works well. I transferred files to my computer via Telegram, but Google Drive could also be used.
There are several illustration apps available. I chose Infinite Painter first because it is similar to Procreate. I found it amusing that the process of creating art was recorded while I was drawing!
In conclusion, I find the Magic Drawing Pad to be an ideal tablet for beginners venturing into screen drawing for the first time. It offers a practical and enjoyable experience!
Feel free to ask any questions about this tablet, and I'll do my best to answer them!
They also told me to say that there would be up to 45% off during the Prime Day event on the Amazon store and the official store from July 16th to 17th! 🛍️✨
⭐ - US store: https://amzn.to/3L08x36 ⭐ - CA store: https://amzn.to/3VanP9W
They also recommended this keyboard!
⭐ - ACK08 smart keyboard: https://bit.ly/3VCgAYv
Thanks a lot to the XPPen team for their patience and for the opportunity to try out this tablet!❤️✨
---
I did this little speedpaint experiment too if you want to see! The function of recording while drawing is a very cool experience!
youtube
That's it, I hope you like it!✨

This is a bit cringe honestly, but my mom and I are absolutely OBSESSED with your work. We have both been for years. We don't connect on a lot of things, but your art is on the things we just mutually adore.
I was just looking through old text messages, and I saw my mom praising your work a ton. I remember when she got me my WACOM art tablet, and Clip studio subscription, she said, " I checked out that Wolfy person's speedpaints and this is the program they used! " She was so excited
I remember I saved up to buy some of your art prints, and my mother ended up going shopping with me to get the perfect picture frame for it. It took a LONG while since the measurements were a bit odd, but she helped me find the right ones.
They both hang right in front of my face at my art desk.
She would look through your socials and excitedly show me whenever you posted. My middle aged mother who had mostly.. not art stuff on her feed had your stuff sprinkled in there too, yknow? it was reallt neat to witness.
It was a world she didn't really understand, but the sheer beauty of your art was able to pull her into it.
I had begun my career as a digital artist a few years ago, because of the support I was able to get from my mother. She was opened up to this whole world, and understood it, partially because of your work.
I'm remembering all of this because I had a friend come over recently, and she pointed out one of my prints and asked about it.
Thank you. I'm hoping to save enough to purchase your art book soon. You're a brilliant artist 💞💞
THAT'S NOT CRINGE AT ALL THAT'S SO SWEET. This actually made me tear up omg. I'm glad you both could connect through my art that's so cool!!! I also hope she follows my more tame social medias haha I just remembered how much bullshit I post on some sites

Hey! I hope its alright im asking anonymous, you're kinda my idol so im a little shy sorry :,)
Anyways my question would be a kinda commonly asked one but i would like to hear your advice on "How to find your artstyle?" Your artsyle is truly AMAZING and unique to me and inspired me a lot so i thought i would ask you this. I'll stop writting now cause its getting long 😅
(One last thing: You're the best and keep doing the amazing work you do cause im obsessed with it and its truly amazing and have a pawsome day/night!!)
It's absolutely ok!! That's why I have anon on after all ;v; (and thank you omg that's flattering 🥹💖)
Okok so here's the things with artstyles; it's literally just doing what ya want!! You don't need to have a specific one!!
So for mines, it's literally just been me picking things up over the years. I got my start through drawing my little pony, and that still shows through how I draw eyes tbh ;^^ and as you can imagine, over the past few years the hellaverse has had a massive impact on how I draw!!
If you like how an artist does something?? Try and analyse how/why they do that; I grew up watching speedpaints on youtube and taking into account just how people did things, for example if they colour picked for their rendering or if they used layer settings etc!!
Having one artstyle can honestly be really restrictive though, which is why I honestly don't believe you should focus on having one specific style if that makes sense??
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
These pieces are all by me, but all have different rendering styles!! The first one is significantly more recognisable imo as my style since cell shading is generally what I do, however when I'm feeling particularly art blocked I'll sometimes go for a more paint-like style ✨
A really close friend of mine (who gets referred to as my husband lol) can do so many different styles, yet his art is extremely recognisable on sight to me every time somehow and I'm forever in awe lmao 😭 his art account is @/draconicdeityarts if you want to check out his stuff, cool af
Genuinely my greatest piece of advice? Just have fun and don't be afraid to try new things ;v; trying to put yourself in a box of "it needs to be in this style" will stunt your growth in my experience!! And over time you'll find the things that make your style yours because, generally, they're the part you enjoy doing the most, which can only be found out by experimenting!! My favourite part is rendering and I feel that shows, but the reason I love it so much is because I'm regularly experimenting still with how I do it rather than sticking to one way!!
I hope this helped at all, just remember that art is for fun, and trust me when I say that your art will always have its ways of being recognisable as yours regardless of if you have one style or 20 different ones 💖
For fun, have some of my older art to see The Development lmao; I believe the years in order here would roughly be 2014, 2016 & 2015 (forgive the quality the photo won't properly load), 2019, 2020, 2022, and finally 2023 ✨

How do you draw Idia’s hair so good?? I struggle with the basic shapes so much!
Sorry for the late reply! Your ask got us excited because Idia’s hair is such a pain to draw, but also such a fun detail, and I’m very happy that you like the way I draw it <3
Katsu suggested to me to record a speedpaint, and uhh, here it is. Please, don’t mind the wonky anatomy and me horsing around with zooming in and out randomly. As you can see, I struggle with Idia’s hair myself and constantly redraw it until I’m satisfied or at least tired enough to say “eh, that’ll do”. In case you’re wondering, it took me ~25-30 minutes to do the hair, and the original video was 59 min long lol I always spend a lot of time moving, reshaping and redrawing details when I draw Idia…
youtube
I’ll also list some tips and thoughts about it based on the way I draw it…
The shape of Idia’s hair is not at all consistent. Even in Toboso’s art it looks slightly different sometimes, which makes sense, because Idia has magical fire hair and technically you could do whatever you want with it.
But some rules tend to apply each time. For example, even though Idia’s hair is long and seems naturally “heavy” because of it, the individual strands tend to be turned upwards, like fire would. Not every single one, but the shorter ones and the ones closer to Idia’s head tend to do so.
Tumblr media
It’s wavy, but not too wavy. If the hair starts looking too “soft”, add sharp edges, random strands sticking out, rough shapes, etc.
Tumblr media
Oh, and it’s important to remember that it floats. This means, it doesn’t just go straight down, it does this weird “S” shape. It’s also hella long, I always forget just how long Idia’s hair is. If the magic fire logic didn’t apply to it, it would reach the ground easily. The volume of his hair is much bigger than I tend to remember too: it's quite thick and luscious lol So please give him lots of hair!
Tumblr media
Tiny little flames + “holes” in the main ehh body of hair (wow there must be a way to phrase it better) make everything look good and more believable. Have fun with it. You might’ve noticed, I draw and redraw and move them around a lot in my speedpaint.
Obviously, I am no expert, and every artist I know draws Idia’s hair a little bit differently. The speedpaint doesn’t show it, but I always have some of Toboso’s artworks of Idia open when I draw him, just to make sure his design is not too off. I would definitely recommend looking at refs while drawing Idia (or anyone), and maybe even trying to redraw the hair from Toboso’s artworks once or twice as a study, it’ll probably make it easier to understand how Idia’s hair works.
Tumblr media
You haven’t asked about the colouring, but I love colouring Idia’s hair, so I’ll talk about it a little. Colouring Idia’s hair is simultaneously the most fun and the most tedious part of drawing him lol 15 minutes of my hour long video is just me filling Idia’s hair with the base blue colour with a lasso (I refuse to use a bucket tool…)
Tumblr media
But once you’re done with the base, this is where the fun begins. Because at this stage you can be pretty rough, just add in darker and deeper blues near the middle/core(?) of the hair mass. It doesn’t have to be very even or pretty, add some smaller dark spots; we personally really love it when Idia has this round little blob on his bangs. In the video you can see that I added it later on because I forgot about it lol
Tumblr media
After the dark part is done, erase the ends of it a little bit with a soft brush. Not too much, we should still be able to see the shapes.
Tumblr media
Then, on a separate layer set on overlay mode, with the same soft brush add some additional brighter spots, to make the hair look glowy. I used the same light blue as the base colour, and the overlay gives it a pretty hue.
Tumblr media
And finally, add some white highlights at the ends of the strands. This is the stage when everything stops looking wrong and weird and starts looking like Idia, at least to me.
Tumblr media
Phew, I think this is everything I wanted to say… I hope it was at least somewhat helpful.
Sorry for the long post, I just love talking about the drawing process. And about Idia too!
Once again, thank you for your kind words; I’m very happy that you like my art.
Have a good day!

I love your art! You are a big inspiration! I was wondering if you have any advice for artists who think all their art is shit? I’ve been in a slump recently where I’m always unsatisfied with my work. I look up to you and big werewolf mommy, Laura! I wanna make my own OCs, but I’m stuck at the moment. Thank you for listening to my tale of woe LOL! I hope you have a great day!
Hi, thank you so very much!! I am honored by your kind words 🥹🤲
As for advice, I'll see what I can do..! I am not the most coherent person because my approach to literally everything is, if I do something I go in with vague knowledge then throw myself into the void and hope there's something I can latch onto on the way down. Sometimes there is, sometimes there isn't. But its annoying, because when people ask me for advice, I'll have jackshit to tell them
So, I'll try! My first piece of advice would be, obviously, don't get discouraged! If you are at that inevitable block point where all your art looks bad, remember that that too shall pass etc etc. You could either take a few days of break (or longer, depending on how often you draw, and remember that its not shameful to not draw every day), or keep going.
Which leads to my second piece of advice- which is, if you're artblocked, I recommend redraws and little exercises. Maybe redraw a comic panel that looks cool to practice- take some drawing off Pinterest whose artstyle you think looks dope and try to replicate it, combine multiple ways to achieve something.
For exercises, you can try to study the thing you're insecure about, wether it be anatomy, clothing, hair, expressions, shading, fabric, etc. Study from more experienced artists, see if there's something you notice in your own art that bothers you then compare it to theirs and see how they handled it. Go see speedpaints and tutorials if needed. When you go into a drawing with a more certain understanding of what you're doing, it will give your hand way more confidence. While comparison will NOT save you in entirety, it CAN be helpful to progress and learn. Don't forget to study real life; learn the rules before breaking them.
Then, continue until you make a drawing you're really proud of - even better if you apply new skills and knowledge to make it. It will feel like you just achieved enlightenment, and the confidence will make you want to draw even more to feel that again.
Regarding that last point - you must also prepare for when that block happens again because it will. But then you'll have to remember what you did last time, and it might help you push through it. Remember; such block is natural in any skill. Nature is made of both mountains and valleys.

i will be back someday
Tumblr media
and i'll find you there, by the great big lake
sean macguire's been one of my favorite characters since my partner in crime started streaming RDR2 for me back in 2022. i originally had a really hard time remembering the names of all the gang members except for arthur, dutch and hosea, so i nicknamed him "carrot boy" for his hair lmao. suffice to say, thanks to my fic writing, i can remember him very well now.
i originally wanted to post this when i had a fic to offer because i was working on one when this was drawn (back in january!) but i've been finding it really hard to work on written fanworks so that's why you only get the drawing. if i ever finish one of those WIPs and it's the sean fic, i'll reblog this with a link. anyways, i maintain (like many people) that I Will Be Back One Day by Lord Huron is definately a sean song.
hope you enjoy!
edit: theres a speedpaint to this now, enjoy :)

Your digital painting is absolutely incredible!! if you dont mind me asking, do you have a general process you follow?
thank you and yes! I start out gathering references (i use PureRef ) then i make some tiny sketches to figure out the composition when I'm happy with it I make it fit the canvas then clean it up a bit and make sure there's no holes so I can select and invert to fill with color, set the color layer to look transparency so i can play around with the colors without worry (I also start the background color here) when the colors are looking good and have some nice shadow/light contrast I merge the sketch layer and color layer so I can just paint on top, I usually make a duplicate of this so i can check if it's actually looking better (for my sanity) If there are complex shapes overlapping i might separate them in a few layers(as few as possible) like for my magma dragon i had a wing layer and a body layer so i could work on the wings without messing up the body and vice versa during all this I might color/value adjust several times the composition might also change a bit I then add final details on a new layer, like little dots, butterflies or what else it might need
then you just sign it and send it:)
here is the layers from the magma dragon, please excuse the dyslexia and messy writing
Tumblr media
this one started out on it's side, and with a value sketch rather than a line sketch but i mostly do lines unless it's a noodle dragon, then i always start with value sketching if i don't wanna suffer
hope this helps and isn't to hard to read:))
(I've actually wanted to make speedpaint videos but recording makes my art program slow;-;)
(edit: also remember to flip the canvas frequently)

HAPPY BELATED 10TH BIRTHDAY FNAF
Of course this was originally gonna be posted in the actual day, but I got lazy, so it had to be delayed.
Of course, in honor of the occasion, I had to draw the character that got me interested in the franchise to begin with. That character being the Puppet/Marionette.
I remember when I was watching FNAF 2 let's plays on PopularMMOs channel in 2014 and being absolutely enamoured with this spindly little clown thing.
I have had other favorites over the years, but the Puppet...they were and still are something special. Hope we get to see more of them in the Mimic's new game in 2025.
Don't know why I decided to make them so sinister looking. Maybe because all the speedpaints I used to watch of them made them look like that. Oh well.
I felt like in order for the real tribute to work, that I had to draw a more biblically accurate Puppet. I feel that doing otherwise would not hit the same.
I will be drawing more stylized FNAF Animatronics in future however, and if you are new to my space and want to see them, stay tuned.
I do have other art ideas I wanna do before class, so I might do them. But until then, here's Puppet.
Hope you enjoy them!

Hii sorry I haven't this posting alot but I need your guys help, this user from twitter
Tumblr media
yuushrimpy has stolen a template I've created back in 2021 under a different name (yuzumilkuu/rinzushi), and refuses to credit nor admit to it. Now while I don't wanna make a huge fuss over a silly template that I simply don't like the principle of the situation as a fellow artist I hope you can understand that this is not okay and that their post should be taken down
This is my og template!!!
Tumblr media
Their placement is not only similar but the way they cropped their heads does to, when provided with proof they gave me a speedpaint which they show them at first editting the sprites but then all of a sudden the heads just appear. When I further rebuked them they blocked me and proceeded to try changing the subject
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Idk about yall but sounds guilty to me lmao, anyways please remember to just report the post, don't send hate

oh….. the THINGS i would give for a @forgettable-au movie……..
gang- okay…
The vision of Papyrus and Gaster at Wingdings’ funeral…. was so vivid in my head. And now its going to be there forever. and i have 0 complaints.
Dunno if any of you have played Omori, but SPOILERS!
the context to this is kinda like the Blackspace segment. Papyrus is in his head sorting out the shit he needs to sort out through metaphors n such. But Gaster is also there because he can do that because theyre the same person (IT MAKES SENSE)
I imagine that whole thing happens right after Papyrus regains all his wingdings memories like he gets knocked out or something- IM MAKING A LOT OF ASSUMPTIONS HERE LIKE HE MIGHT NOT EVEN REMEMBER, EVER!!! I REALLY HOPE HE DOES!!! BUT!!!
Just let me have my silly fanfics…
After a lot of fighting and agony over the question of WHO IS PAPYRUS? ESPECIALLY AFTER HE’S LEARNED TOO MUCH?
it ends with a somber scene of putting Wingdings to rest, letting his 2 halves live their own lives.
Papyrus asks “Why did you do this?” as in… Why did you bring me here? and why did you do what you did? throwing yourself into the void?
Gaster has the same answer for both of those questions
Thats my theory, I think a lot of Gaster/Wingdings’ ambition, in game and in comic, is just curiosity
TIME FOR SOME FUN LITTLE EASTER EGGS!!!
In the first frame, theres a raindrop in front of Papyrus’ eye socket, meant to allude to Wingdings’ eye lights.
Also the field is filled with Echo and Golden flowers. Echo represents Wingdings, and Golden represents Papyrus. Gaster is just Gaster, don’t worry about him
I also had fun making the save point star look sorta like a cross from the distance…cause yknow…heaven….TEEHEE
I got emotional putting “dearest brother” on the grave cause I couldnt put any more stuff like “closest friend” or “dear son”….Sans was kinda all he had…
and lastly heres some bonus behind the scenes stuff because I have enough room for it
some sketches, and a speedpaint with the best instrumental song ever made from the best liveaction movie ever made that has absolutely nothing to do with the forgettable au (Little Miss Sunshine - “THE WINNER IS”)
Highly recommend, 100/10, makes me UGLY SOB, think the undertale gang would like it (especially Papyrus and Undyne)

Gore-tober day two!
Day two, Limbs and Macy Roth-Byrne
Character from the Magnetverse Champaigns.
Tumblr media
WARNING!
Ahead there will be gore, body horror and such things of the like. If that’s something you aren’t comfortable in seeing, please scroll away or take a look at my other pieces on this account.
Macy Roth-Byrne, a player character turned NPC, is a character from the Magnetverse campaign games. In the most recent campaign, she will be going through an arc where she will have to ascend into a higher state of being. This was inspired by the idea of her being called The Monster’s Goddess.
Macy was made by an otherworldly entity simply called The Jester, she was carried by a version of Josephine Roth and later born from her. While Helen, Josephine’s grandmother, was scared of this baby and wanted to be rid of it. Salam Byrne decided to ignore his fiancé and her godmother, taking the baby Macy away from the dangerous situation. However while he was able to protect her for 6 years eventually he fell, leaving her alone to fed for herself.
Using her powers, Macy hid in her creator’s dimension. Going between universes helping those in need and hiding from those who were like her grandmother. Overtime she found out she had a half sister, gained a best friend and a lover. Now she’s determined to keep whatever family she has together as her time as Macy is drawing closer and closer to an end… and her time as The Mime is incoming.
This is her goretober piece:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is the speedpaint:
As said in the thumbnail image, this character was decided by a dice roll. This will be the same for all goretober pieces. These characters will be taken from the fairytale campaign and the magnetverse games that me and my friends play. All characters that will feature in this are adults and if they aren’t my own player character I have permission already from their player.
The link to the prompt I’m using is here:
I hope you all are having a good goretober and remember to take your time with these! Take breaks and don’t burn yourself out!

Do u have any social and tips on drawing?
Not sure what ya mean on 'social' but I do have drawing tips!
-Practice! This is probably the tip you will hear from ANY and EVERY artist, but it really is true. You will not improve if you do not practice. When I say 'practice' what I mean is this: Draw as much as you can when you can. If you only draw for 5-minutes once a month, you're not going to improve like someone who draws daily. How much and often you practice will also be determined by your lifestyle. Work, school, social life, other hobbies ect are important as well, so remember your balance. Also, PLEASE use references. No, using references is not and will never be cheating. Anyone who tells you otherwise is full of it. Also, draw as much variety as you can as well. Always be willing to work out of your comfort zone, but also don't feel as though you have to force yourself to draw things you don't want to all the time. Balance. When practicing, utilize tutorials that you can find literally everywhere and try watching speedpaints/draws. They help me a lot!
-Learn your anatomy! Your art will improve so much quicker when you take time to learn anatomy. For some, learning anatomy in art is fun while for others, it's a bit of a drag. However, it's super important. Once you know your anatomy, you can push things in terms or art style because as the saying goes 'You have to know the rules to break them'. So before you go all cartoony and wobbly with your anatomy for a style, try to know the actual anatomy first. it helps!
-Artist > Tools! No, you don't need an expensive tablet or art program or marker set or brush set ect, ect. The tools do not make the art, the artist does. Yes, tools can make things easier and can be fun to experiment with and eventually everyone finds what they prefer more, but the more expensive your art equipment is doesn't mean that your work will turn out better. If you're a beginner artist, play with cheap mediums first. Crayola crayons and MS Paint can still make art. Only put money into supplies, tools, and programs that you know you will utilize to its worth. If you're brand-new to digital art, for example, don't go looking into a tablet that costs hundreds of dollars. I started digital art with Gimp (a free art program) and my computer mouse. I've used a mouse longer than I've used my tablet so far and even though I've traded in my mouse days for my tablet, I was still able to make some good art with the mouse.
-Get Inspired By Others, But Don't Compare! Every artist, big and small has looked at someone else's work and told themselves "Why can't I draw like that? My work isn't as good as theirs.". This is a good way to put yourself down and to take the fun out of your art along with turning a blind eye to the progress you have actually made. Instead, look at other people's work and inspire yourself. What about their work do you like? Is there any technique that they do that you can try out? Break down how they put their art together and maybe you can learn from it. Of course, never copy a person's artwork or directly steal, but take away inspiration. Do you like how they do facial expressions? Do you like they way they do anatomy? Do you like how their lineart looks? Do you like how they color? What about someone else's art do you love, and take inspiration. Take it from multiple sources and you'll find all sorts of unique ways people make art that you can try out for yourself!
-KEEP YOUR OLD ART! Especially if you're a beginner at art, this is important. It's super easy to look at your art and go 'ew', before deleting it or throwing it in the trash. Don't do that. Your future self will thank you for hanging onto all of your old art so you can go back and see just how much you've truly improved. Also, it's fun to go back and redraw old art!
These are just some tips I have and I do hope they help!

Hello, just wanna start this off by saying that I love your art. I've decided to ask my favourite artists for art tips as I wanna get into it, but no matter what I do it never looks right. So, any tips?
WARNING YOU JUST OPENED THE FLOOD GATES GET READY FOR A LONG ASS POST
WOOOOO BOY, first off huge fucking compliment i honestly didn't think i was anyone's favorite artist (despite what my friends say) and i find it super cool of you to try and draw
Anddd nowww the cowards will run out as soon as you read more
okay so first things first, disclaimer! I AM NO PROFESSIONAL BY ANY STANDARDS, IM JUST SUPER INTERESTED IN ART, DO NOT TAKE MY WORDS AS GOSPEL AND YOU DO NOT NEED TO TAKE MY WORDS OF ADVICE (you didnt say i was but just to cover my ass)
I am still learning as an artist so this will just be advice that helped me, lets just hope i can remember what got me here, and this will be just me jotting down my thoughts as they come so maybe im not the best person to come to about this (i may repeat what other people say in terms of art so bare with me)
SO WITHOUT ANYMORE DISCLAIMER! YOU WANT ART TIPS FROM ME? WELL GET READY FOR SOME BULLSHIT FROM A PERSON WHO'S BEEN SO ARTSY FARTSY IN THEIR ENTIRE LIFE AND HAS NO IDEA WHAT THEY'RE TALKING ABOUT, WELL COME INTO THE SHIT TRAIN!!
Now i dont know if you are an intermediate artist, beginner, need help in specific areas or whatever the hell else but! here's the three main points i always wanted to scream at artists who are just starting out!
Your art WILL look like shit in the beginning
References and inspiration are YOUR FRIEND
DONT be afraid to trace
(I know I know this feels like regurgitated and it probably is BUT HEY STICK WITH ME)
does your art looks fucking trash? THATS GOOD!! KEEP DRAWING!! My art looked fucking ugly when i started and some might say (me) it still does, but thats okay!! You learn more and more from just drawing without any tips, art is a pure skill that builds up, do not be discouraged!! The point of art isn't to be the greatest in the world, it's to be at peace with what you create so if your art looks good to you and you are in a happy place in your progress, you are basically successful in my eyes at least (this doesn't mean to quit learning obviously but it'll come in time, be patient, do not push yourself! that's how you stop loving art and we don't want that happening!)
Ever find yourself asking "man why the fuck does (include art shit here) not look accurate??" well here's a tip, USE REFERENCES! DO NOT BE LIKE ME WHERE YOU JUST WING IT OR ELSE YOU'LL BE CRYING OVER YOUR DRAWING TABLET LIKE I DID AT SOME POINT!! Pay attention to the shapes of the reference, break it down and draw over it if you need to, shapes are very important in art and you need to be able to draw whatever you want in the most basic forms (im no good example of this, i really need to practice more aughhh). As well as references, inspiration is KEY!!! Everything is inspired off each other, nothing is original, so steal from your favorite artists!! Look at their speedpaints, look at how they use colors, analyze how they draw anatomy in their style, see how they use shapes, etc etc, learn from who you consider are the "greats of their times"!! USE ALL THE INSPIRATION YOU HAVE AT YOUR FINGERTIPS!!LITERALLY COPY THEM IF YOU WANT EVEN IF YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND WHY THEY DID THAT, YOU'LL LEARN WITH TIME!! just whatever you do, don't compare yourself so heavily against other artists, i know its hard, i do it myself even! If there is an artist who has a style you so so want, don't crumble if you can't draw in their style perfectly, you'll never win against someone in their art style. I suggest taking inspiration from multiple artists and mashing them together until it looks good in your eyes!!
That actually leads me to my next point! TRACING IS OKAY!! Now obviously I do not mean directly tracing over like some lines, showing it off/posting it and calling it completely original. I mean tracing over the references i mentioned before, or like what i said before, i believe you should actually trace from your favs! (don't call it original like i said before), tracing can help build memory on how to draw certain things like how i took a photo of my hands before, traced them, and then put it to the side to redraw it, making me understand futher how hands work! OR like how i traced a piece of art that i liked to understand how the artist drew their bodies, tracing is used by total professionals in the industry so do not be afraid!! You have total permission from me to trace my art and learn how to draw my wack ass bodies
and for a little extra bit, little bit of a hot take (I'm actually not sure how much of a hot take this is), i don't think you HAVE to learn the fundamentals to get into art. NOW BEFORE YOU RUN OFF SCREAMING AND SHITTING, IM NOT SAYING YOU DON'T NEED THE FUNDAMENTALS UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!! I'm just saying that if you want to get into art as a complete hobbyist and just want to draw to yknow draw and be happy, you should just go for it! Again don't make art something you hate! I completely encourage learning the fundamentals but don't ever feel like you're failing just because you don't, get into it when you have the time! be patient with yourself, this goes for any hobby/skill but just sink some time into it, i promise you will get further in you hobby than if you push and rush yourself into complete burn out
OH AND HERES MY ULTIMATE TIP! THERE IS NO WRONG WAY TO DO ART!!
Uhhh i think that's everything? Im not exactly sure how comprehensible this is or how the spelling is since i am not beta reading this! But apologies if this wasn't what you were looking for! (if anybody even read this far) and i hope that if you asked your other favorite artists they answered with anything better than whatever this is! I wish you alot of luck in your art journey and thank you for giving me an excuse to talk about art! OH AND REMEMBER TO TAKE BREAKS
