Hi! I am dedicated to offering a new insight into the image of sharks through art!I try to encourage exploring creative possibilities of shark imagery that can go beyond the old stereotypes of man-eaters, jaws and blood. And I hope to inspire people to turn their fear of sharks into fascination! 🦈✨

After experimenting with making expressions of his human version.
Now I made the same expressions but with Roberto being what he really is, a very silly great hammerhead shork! 🦈✨
I need to make the others now, but first I need to do some work.

Using the human version of my OC Roberto to figure out if I can make expressions, to see if I have any potential to make a comic at some point. I had a lot of trouble with the hands, but some friends helped me out. 😅

My friendo @requinoesis drew a humanized version of their character Roberto, and I mean come on now. My public reason for drawing him is because I really wanted to try out Requin's pastel colors. My personal reason for drawing him is because Roberto is handsome as heck.

I thought I'd update the reference sheet illustration of my three silly shork characters! I made the original in 2023, the old version is here, and now I'm more comfortable with their new shapes! 🦈🦈🦈✨
Together, they formed a band called Dreamfarers!🎶✨
⭐ Aria Almarina is an introverted and reserved zebra shark, but behind her distant gaze lies an eccentric and optimistic personality. Fascinated by anthropology, she is a veritable walking encyclopedia on extinct human civilization. She enjoys photographing wildlife and has found singing to be a form of self-expression., a role that made her the band's lead singer. For Tiago and Roberto, Aria is like a star that inspires hope and faith, bringing purpose and meaning to their lives, just as they did to hers.
☀️ Tiago Tigrado is a bold and confident tiger shark. Despite his rebellious, independent appearance, he is always ready to take care of his friends. He enjoys sports such as skateboarding and surfing, is enthusiastic about geek culture and video games, and very smart about electronics and computers, something very recent in society. His favorite form of expression is through the synthesizer, which led him to become the keyboardist for the band. To his friends, Tiago is like a warn sun that brings clarity when everything seems uncertain.
🌙 Roberto Martiello is a great hammerhead shark, hyperactive and charismatic, with strong empathy. He provides emotional support to his friends, although this sometimes causes him to neglect himself. He loves to cook for his friends, despite his fear of fried foods. He is attracted to mysteries and esoteric themes, and likes to express himself through acoustic instruments, which naturally made him the band's guitarist. To his friends, Roberto is the caring moonlight that brings the reflection their hearts needed to hear.
I'm thinking about doing some page tests to tell their story in a comic, what do you think? If I started a Patreon about it, would you be willing to support me?

Since I somehow made the human version of my shork friends trio official in the main story, I decided to redo the old sketch that explored the idea of what they would look like if they were humans!
How this will happen I will try to explain at some point in the future, but it involves dream phenomena. ✨
This the old version!
Tumblr media
I also took the opportunity to redo the reference sheet illustration of my three sharkfolks. 🦈🦈🦈✨
Tumblr media
This was the old version, I'm much more comfortable with their shapes!

My drawing tablet broke in mid-July, but now I got a new one, so to test it out I doodled these little sharks! ✨
Tumblr media
I love Tamagotchi, even though I never had the original when I was a kid. I was happy that the new one had marine animals, but of course the shark would be "generic", and of course they emphasized the dolphin, hehe.
So I created my own Tamagotchi shark designs! 🦈✨
Tumblr media
My friend from Japan helped me come up with appropriate names for each of them. Maybe one day we'll have cute sharks in Tamagotchi. ✨
Tumblr media
Which one would you take care of?

what are your thoughts on shark activists who hate on dolphins? (I've been seeing this a lot on twitter/youtube with people saying "sharks are misunderstood but dolphins are evil and demonic" about dolphins)
My drawing tablet broke, so I can't draw for now, but I'll take this opportunity to answer this question.
Honestly, I find this human habit of labeling animals as “good” or “bad” very strange, as if they could be classified according to human moral standards. Since I was a child, I've always been bothered by the way negative human characteristics are associated with animals, when in fact they have absolutely nothing to do with our behavior.
I also see a lot of sensationalism and misinformation circulating as if they were facts, and people end up just consuming and replicating these ideas on social media, without checking or reflecting. This only weakens our connection with these animals, distancing us through distorted images that generate fear, revulsion, or disinterest.
Dolphins and sharks, like any other animal, act according to their nature, as they have always done for thousands of years, long before we existed and long after we are gone. Projecting roles of “heroes” or “villains” onto them is not only misguided, but it also undermines our ability to see their true importance.
Both are fascinating creatures, essential to marine ecosystems, and unfortunately, both suffer from the impacts of our actions. Instead of judging them, we should be admiring, respecting, and protecting these animals. That should be the focus.
This old art I made for Sharktober 2022 sums up my thoughts on this. 🐬🎮🦈

Do sharkfolk still have cartilage skeletons or did they evolve bones to help with the whole becoming bipedal thing? Also what do their skeletons look like?
I imagine that the Sharkfolk have developed a unique adaptation in their skeleton, which allows them to live both on land and in the ocean, but how this works is up to interpretation. What I can say is that it might be similar to that of amphibians, a hybrid skeleton made of bone and cartilage. 🦴🦈
Similar to frogs, the Sharkfolk's life cycle would begin with a completely marine phase. When they are born, their bodies are predominantly cartilaginous, with underdeveloped arms and legs. As they grow, they undergo a process of ossification: the limbs become stronger, the spine straightens and the body adapts to terrestrial locomotion. In the sea, they swim in a serpentine movement, keeping their arms close to their body, similar to the marine lizards of the Galapagos.
Tumblr media
I made this illustration to try to show what the skeleton would look like, I know it's not that “accurate” but I hope you like it! I chose a great white shark to get a better view, the other species work in the same way, with a few small differences, mainly in the shape of the skull.
Tumblr media
I thought it would be nice if the rib cage evolved from the gill arches. I used this diagram for inspiration:
Tumblr media
Although they have adapted well to life on land, Sharkfolk still depend on a balance between the two environments. Spending too much time exclusively on land or at sea can cause physical changes, atrophy or even degenerative diseases. For this reason, their physical health requires a balanced routine of exercise, both aquatic (such as swimming and gill breathing) and terrestrial (such as walking and lung breathing).
Finally, Roberto, being a great hammerhead shark, would probably have one of the most "eccentric" skulls of the species hehe

I hope you like it! 🦈✨

I didn't draw a birthday illustration, so I'm just going to repost this old art of my trio of sharks that I love so much.
Not least because Aria, the little zebra shark, has the same birthday as me, which would be July 2 in their calendar. 🎂🎈✨
As someone who has been traumatized by birthdays in the past and who for a long time “celebrated” in a cramped, musty room in front of a computer screen, today is my first birthday in decades that will really be happy, in a new, healthy place and with people who really like me for who I am.
My greatest gift is all the support, both motivational and financial, that everyone here has been able to offer. I'm very grateful for that and I hope to reward you with future great projects related to the world of sharks that I'm so dedicated to.
Thanks a lot for all! 🦈✨

Have you played the game another crab's treasure? your artworks reminded me of it.
I know this game, but it didn't really catch my attention.
I just find it funny that the only shark thing in a game about the ocean, is an npc who is a toy called “loan shark”. lol

As i seen your work with the wonderful shark people on your world i wanted to ask if its not rude ? Have you made other sea animals as characters too? But i am not saying it in a way i dont like the others im just quite curious :0 🌟
Oh don't worry, that's not rude at all! ✨
Over the years I've created several “worlds” with different proposals and stories. Unlike the current Sharkfolk world I'm focusing on, which no longer has mammals and I haven't yet had time to illustrate the fauna. In these other worlds I've explored a few different species of marine animal.
Tumblr media
In this first one, it was a story I kept about a supernatural shark called Requiem, hovering in a life and death condition, she would be looking for her fins that were stolen by a fisherman, while exploring a supernatural ocean with other marine animals in the same condition as her, who had some part of their bodies stolen by fishermen.
Tumblr media
I don't know if this would include it, but these are old alien designs inspired by starfish larvae, it was for a very old story I did in 2018 about an astronaut shark.
Tumblr media
These are sketches of NPCs that I was thinking of for a game idea that has been shelved until now. They would be ideas of various civilized sea animals.
Tumblr media
Finally, this is a recently sketched idea, although it has two sharks, there are ideas of two cetaceans. These characters belong to the current world I'm focusing on of the “Sharkfolk”, but they are related to human beings, they are mascots of a great sea world in pre-anthropocene times. Important things happen there that will resonate thousands of years into the future.
That's it, I hope you like it, if I draw other animals in the future, I'll show you!
