It was an accident. Grantaire had been out with some friends and it was so easy to just. Fall back into old habits. One minute he was talking to Bossuet and Joly, the next he was puking his guts out in the bathroom.

He ended up getting home a lot later than he said would. He knew Enjolras was going to be mad. But he just couldn't bring himself to care.

When he walked inside he tried his best not wake Enjolras. Upon entering the living room, however, he realized it was in vain.

Enjolras was sitting on the couch staring at him. Grantaire could tell he was upset.

"'Sup," He said weakly.

"Really? That's all you have to say? 'Sup'?" Enjolras responded angrily. "I was worried about you. You said you'd be home hours ago. You haven't answered a single one of my calls or- Are you drunk?" He asked incredulously upon seeing Grantaire swaying where he stood.

"Maybe," he giggled.

"Grantaire, you told me you would stop drinking,"

"Ok? It was just tonight! I was having fun!"

Enjolras sighed, grabbing Grantaire and starting to pull him towards their bedroom.

"Oooh~ you're what are you going to do me?"

Enjolras responded exasperatedly, "You are going to bed."

"Aww but I just got home! We could do some other things in bed instead," Grantaire pouted as he let Enjolras pull him into the bedroom.

"No. You are going to bed, and we are going to have a talk in the morning."

"Ugh ok,"

Enjolras helped Grantaire put some pajamas and gently led him to the bed. As he turned to leave, he felt his arm being grabbed.

"Where are you going?" Grantaire asked, confused.

"I'm sleeping on the couch."

"Oh,"

Neither said anything else as Enjolras left the bedroom

okay, so i'm really shit about remembering to read shit on tumblr and i havent read ao3 fanfic in some time. so my answer here might not be satisfactory.

most of my time the past couple have been on rp, you know? but yall dont know my rp buds. [BUT I ENCOURAGE YALL TO GET INTO RP. IT IS SO FUN WHEN YOU'RE PLAYING AGAINST SOMEONE ELSE!!! I feel it challenges your view of your character - an your own writing - in a way writing fic/an original story solo or playing IF doesn't. the collaborative aspect is fun and i love the planning, but there is so much you cannot plan. you will surprise yourself with what you write and what your characters will do. but that's another post]

BUT! i will say for fanfic oc, @ava-du-mortain Cecilia du Mortain. it's been a while since I've read Ceci so my memory is fuzzy -- or LIA, rather. And I wouldn't call her a villain ... but I wouldn't say she's just ~misunderstood~. There is a darkness to her I find intriguing that I feel echoes her sibling's, and Pap has linger without making her cartoonish but intense instead ... coming to my mind was a snippet she showed me between Nairuz and Lia.

there are people writing steddie fic who have never even seen the show. or who've only seen season 1. no wonder it's all bad if they're getting their charecteristics from fucking tiktok and tumblr. i just dont get it. how can you write for a fandom you havent even seen the source material for?? why are you invested in these guys??

Yeah it surprises me too. Like okay, I'll admit I read fic before sitting down and watching the whole show, and I've written fic for fandoms where I haven't consumed all the material (impossible to in star wars fandom there's too much) but it's SOOOO wild to me that people who will admit they've never watched more than a single episode will get angry when people call out characterization issues.... Like idk people can write any fic they want I guess, but the moment people who haven't seen the show start getting into meta and characterization arguments I'm like okay we've lost the plot y'all need to at least watch some unedited clips before arguing about shit that happens in episodes you haven't even watched 😭

I'm also just baffled by it in part because yeah I do think so much of the fandom not watching even some of the show is why characterization is so wonky in the fandom, but also like the canon characterizations are just a lot better than most of the major fanon imo? Idk I find a lot of major fanon stuff to be kind of boring, and also almost never really includes characters I really care about (like Lucas and Max) except as props for the big teen ships. So it is surprising that people are this invested in the kinda lame fanon versions of characters but don't want to watch the show at all?

In the end people can do what they want but I will forever be confused by it lol

hey, fresh new different anon with my two cents:

personally, i vote that im in the fandom if i *would* read a fic from that fandom. not if i ever have read a fic from that fandom before in my life, not even if ive seen/read/otherwise consumed the canon source material, just if i would read a fic from the fandom and would expect myself to be reasonably familiar with the characters and (canon-to-the-source-material) concepts used in said fic. my litmus test wrt that and fics i havent read is "am i opening up a new tab to investigate this and maybe mark it for later based purely on the fandom? if yes, im in the fandom. if no, im not in the fandom." litmus test for fics ive read is "have i read it? if yes, im in the fandom"

maybe thats too broad of a definition? like, is the "yes but im not in the fandom" option for people who have read it and have since left the fandom, or just stumbled across a random fic from an unfamiliar fandom and went "sure, why not?" i still read fic from most, if not all, fandoms i used to be more active in, so i wouldnt count myself in that category tbh

anyway thats my thoughts on how i vote. interesting to see that i seem to have the broadest definition out of those that have piped in so far, but im not really surprised lol

That's interesting! I think I operate in a similar way. Have I read much fanfiction for ATLA? No. (I mean, I've written for it, but that doesn't count right now.) Would I read fanfiction for ATLA? Absolutely.

I've marked literally every fic submission from media I'm interested in to check out later, and even some from fandoms I don't particularly care about because some of y'all make your little stories sound really good.

I must say, when I started this account, I did not see it sparking a discussion on what constitutes "being in a fandom" lol. Not that I'm complaining.

i think i can do a dialogue quite good but it’s hard for me to get into a zone or scenario where it comes to that naturally, but whenever it does happen? i’m super happy and proud of the result (that’s why i like my hitmen jegulus microfic so much)

probably that i’m not really good at creating a storyline/plot djskks that’s something that does Not come easily to me and probably one of the only reasons i havent really finished any of my big fics or even their first chapters. If i have a plan/ a prompt or something in general i can orientate myself off of it flows super easily (all the microfics and Ant Pile) but coming up with something of my own is very hard and i often feel kinda bad about it too :,))

Shelter - sanders sides. it's a human au where roman is trans an tbh i don't really remember the plot, sorry lol. it has light analogical tho

Paper stars, empty caskets - btvs. it's the start of my vamp willow origin story and it's the most canon compliant part of the series

Paper cloud, open windows - btvs. second part of paper stars and uh... remember those kids that got possesed by hyenas? this is about the blonde girl and vamp willow kissing (kinda)

Paper butterflies, something amiss - btvs. third part of the vamp willow origin story, it deals with some flashbacks about jesse willow and xander, but also about some of the things we didn't get to see vamp willow do in part 2

I write them on occasion, theyre fun if i can get all the lore to match up nicely which is my favorite part of writing them. My favorites are Oh Captain My Captain (Fives gets to be Captain America, in SW universe but with CA plot points) and Fox, Fox, Let Down Your Guard (Tangled AU where Fox is Rapunzel, in Tangled universe)

almost did once but it didnt work out

What’s your all-time favourite ship?

not into ships much but Bail/Breha are i think the best couple in star wars. Totally healthy, both had huge responsibilities that they managed very well while continuing to atay devoted to each other, and they raised Leia Organa and did an excellent job.

What’s a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?

One about heartbreaks creating golden scars and Dogma having a lot of them. its pretty angsty and i havent felt angsty enough in a while to finish it.

What are your writing strengths?

I've been told im pretty good at chracterization, and i also make giant and complex but working plots that spring from my head like athena.

What are your writing weaknesses?

sitting down at my darn computer and writing. especially when theres no action or big plot happening.

Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?

I don't speak any other languages. I know bits of Spanish and Mando'a but not enough to really write a bunch.

i was curious since it'd been a year since the last update and im new to ur account, so i checked on ur main acc and saw the post you put up abt your new pack and i COMPLETELY UNDERSTAND. i dont know if im pushing a boundary or bringing up something old or something here by writing this but i was (and still am) invested in your story and characters, and i know it's been a year but curiosity kills the cat so i wanted to ask if its officially discontinued?

hmmmm j guess i would consider it discontinued. as i’ve said before if i was to come back to it, i would 100% just like rewrite it all bc AHHH it was horribly written, but i literally am struggling so much to write even 1k of words let alone 88k. so at this point it is discontinued, but maybe one day when i have free time and am motivated. i have been slowly crawling back to the mha fandom….

Hmm. Probably lonely town? Dick is getting de-fibbed in the alley by Bruce, and it's not clear if he's going to survive or not.

here as I am is hilarious if you're into jealous!Clark. otherwise the weight (salmon ladder fic) always gets me.

Yep. Mostly on borderline, but on other fics too. I love how, as I've gotten better at writing, it's changed from "wow this sucks, your writing is awful" to "you suck because you chose to have [character] do this." Luckily I think most of the hate filters over here to Tumblr, where I can happily block and forget. These days, I mostly get people commenting about how I'm wrong about something. Wrong about something I researched and triple checked before posting...

9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?

Yep! All of them, I think? At least, I haven't balked at much yet. I'm not really into the excrement related ones, so I think that would be one of my no-go's.

10. Do you write crossovers?

Yep! bloodletting (Mandalorian/Star Wars and DC Crossover) and a few Marvel/DC crossovers.

Yep, a few times. What I'm more pissed about is all of my textposts being monetized over on TikTok and IG. I could be making bank off of those, considering the reach. And several of them are basically mini-fics.

Not really. I've made attempts but I'm really bad at it. I tend to write spur of the moment and follow my gut on where the conversation/action goes. Planning out a fic with a partner would do them a disservice, I think.

I really love Superbat, but Codywan is right up there with it. Something about Cody being a loyal BAMF soldier and long-suffering big brother gets me.

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you will?

My vampire AU. Not because I don't want to continue but I cannot decipher my notes as to what should happen next.

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'm very quick, I can type up a full draft in a few hours. I like natural, snappy dialogue and I think I'm good at it. I don't shy away from weird or uncomfortable situations. I'm comfortable with writing a lot of sex/etc.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

I write too quickly, sometimes I get ahead of my plot. My dialogue and descriptions can sometimes be a little too bare, or I overcorrect and become too flowery. My fics take on the tone of whatever I'm thinking about at that time.

18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?

If you're confident in your language abilities, go for it. If you're just plugging it into google translate, consider why you're doing that first. Is the addition of this new language actually something someone would say in that moment? Or are we just using it to signal to the audience that they speak another language? Is there a way to show this without telling? That being said, I love using Mando'a in my Star Wars fic, and I've studied it for a while now to be able to do so.

hiiii ok so ive been clogging my likes for weeks, i finally caved n made this blog so im gonna start rbing tons of awesome art shortly but for now lemme introduce myself!

my name is shay and i accidentally fixated on codz, specifically the ultimis team (bo1 being my favorite game). i totally didn't expect to get so invested, i thought it'd be casual, but i've reached the point of developing elaborate hcs lol so i thought i'd finally attempt to connect with others within the fandom to maybe toss ideas back and forth?

first things first, to get it out of the way: ultimis richtofen is my favorite. i'm used to liking antagonists and i have no interest in trying to justify things such as world domination and murder, because to me it's all fiction and villains are simply fun, but the one thing that i do wanna address is the glaring issue of richtofen's attire. i'm gonna talk about it more in depth in a separate post (which you’ll be able to find on my blog) but off the bat, i wanna say that i'm jewish myself and nazism is no joke to me. fictional villains who commit fictional crimes are fun because they’re not real; nazis were and are very much real and i have no interest in sympathizing with them or making light of their actions. typically, i’d also refuse to even tolerate someone simply bearing the insignia, but i find richtofen to be a unique example. again, i’ll talk about it more elsewhere, but the important thing is this: he is not a nazi in canon. and, regarding fandom, fortunately i havent seen much that's genuinely made me uncomfortable, just ignorant dumbasses that have made me roll my eyes and go ‘what in the hell? are you dumb?’ (this also extends to how takeo is treated lmao). that being said, i fully understand discomfort with ultimis richtofen and i respect anyone who dislikes him! but he's my fucking bastard and good lord ive been losing it over him for weekssss im dying man

im not big on primis or the other teams (though i appreciate victis & bo2, mainly for aether!richtofen) and i have no idea what's going on with the monty / shadowman plot - bo3 and bo4's lore is absolutely incomprehensible to me. usually i love game lore, but if im being frank, codz's is a clusterfuck and possibly one of the most sloppily written storylines ive ever encountered. it's literally entirely composed of the writers having gone "hey, wouldnt it be cool if...?" with zero interest in just making things make sense.

despite this, ive gotten attached to the characters and ive been developing headcanons, namely about (ult) richtofen, his pre-935 life, and the time before and after the MPD incident, as well as the relationships that suffered and changed due to it. i'm not trying to pretend like he's deserving of sympathy, but there is smth inherently sad in literally losing your mind and yourself to a damn... cosmic force, and ive found it highly intriguing to think about the behavioral changes he underwent and how those in his life reacted to it. ive got,,, a lot of hcs fhsdkfds. 

so this is a bit of an open invitation. would anyone in the fandom wanna talk abt richtofen together? bounce ideas off one another? if you're starving for content in this dried up fandom, im a fic writer who's been inactive for a bit out of a lack of inspiration, but his evil ass has proven to be my muse; i just need a fire under my ass to get it going. ive already got some stuff in my drafts ;o so yeah, pls hit me up!

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? um???? i suppose in the pocket of the universe originally had an angsty ending when it was just the first chapter, but then i went back and gave it a fluffy ending instead xD i suppose Valentine's Day Is Kind Of A Scam But I Do Love Getting Presents ends with the implication that crowley spent money on a harry potter book, which is pretty revolting

also, more thoughts on aspects of the au:

first of all, im thinking that before the aimee stuff maybe the band *wasnt* really well known. like, they were more of an underground sensation with a small diehard fanbase. but aimee knowing them (and LOVING them) sent them into the spotlight a bit- not like *super* famous or anything, but SIGNIFICANTLY more fame than before. enough to give them some ground in the music world. they also gain a bit of a french following from it and after ghost and aimee kinda become friends, he'll slip in some french influence or lyrics into songs from then on <3 maybe even when he learns french (cuz fuck it hes one of the girls in my heart and i want him to have female besties OKAY and i think if aimee knew he was gay she would instead want him to be her gay bestie (she's a little ignorant but her heart is in the right place)) they even have some songs entirely in french (always love a chance to put my terrible french skills to use somehow). also aimee is unfortunately straight in this au 😔 (/hj).

ALSO im thinking maybe toast and mary had something going on before the whole discourse blow up. like they started officially dating but both agreed it would be better to keep it private, at least for a while. eventually though, mary catches on before toast does that his feelings for her arent the same as hers for him, and she sits him down to talk about it. they end up agreeing to stay close friends instead. maybe she's even the one who makes toast realize how he really feels for ghost?? idk if im certain on any of this part though tbh,,, do i even want them to date in this au??? should it be before the discourse??? after??? should it be public??? private?? does toast already know how he feels for ghost??? should toast and ghost be ex lovers to boot instead of just ex friends??? mannnn i dont even know 😔😔😔

also, about jimmy.... honestly i should write something for him lol. my specialty is sorta kinda gore and murder stuffs in writing heh,,, i like to get a bit grotesque. yet, i havent really written much of anything with him,,, probably because ghost occupies my brainspace 99.9999% of the time. but it's definitely exciting to me to add that plot into the story. i think at first it would be a background-ish thing, but as the story progresses and the toast and ghost rivalry starts to resolve itself, the jimmy and gavin plotline stuff becomes more prevalent and the focus starts to shift to the murders and them as potential victims or smth. (if you cant tell by now, i plan this to be a long story lolol. idk if i'd want it to be one long story or split into different stories tho 🤔)

i say its my specialty of sorts, but i still feel like its cringe and bad ngl LMAO. i have a fic on ao3 for a different fandom i fell out of (fortunately, an impossible feat when it comes to vt because it is always somewhere in my brain at all times always) that was a stalker and a nightshift convenience store worker and i cannot physically reread it because i feel like its all so cringeeee. i also fell out of the fandom for it RIGHT as it was getting into the murdery parts too lmao.

also adding on: Ethan Fields - Cooler Than Me. It's so Ghost fr.

Ashamed to admit that just now when Cannibal by Kesha came on my brain immediately created a celebrity au where Jimmy is a controversial music artist and a string of high profile celebrity murders been happening lately….

Oh no wait, now I’m thinking of an entire au with other chars too—

Ghost is also a musical artist, being the lead singer in a band with Spooker, Colon, and Katrina (it used to be Ghost, Toast, and Katrina but a big fallout happened before any of them rose to fame that led to Toast leaving back to England and eventually becoming a model). I imagine Katrina as bassist, Spooker on drums, and Colon on guitar. Ghost used to be drummer, and Toast guitarist and lead vocalist, but Ghost took over vocals after his departure and Colon took over for Toast, with Spooker being a very last minute addition by chance when they heard how good he was and Katrina convinced Ghost having someone else on drums would leave him more time to focus on vocals and writing. Also, I feel like all of them would sing but Ghost is the one who sings most of the songs (also he can scream crazy good and I stand by that (also it’s hot af lmao)). Colon probably had mild experience in singing but has improved a lot since then, and Spooker had NO natural or learned singing skills going into the band and is still not quite up to par with his bandmates, but he’s improved /so/ much.

Toast would probably do modeling cuz, duh. But also he writes books and a lot of people won’t give them a chance because they think he’s just a pretty face but he’s actually a talented writer of supernatural mysteries. Also, more recently he got into acting and blew up on the big screen and prefers the acting gigs because he feels like he gets to showcase more of his skills and get more appreciation for them than he got in modeling.

Gavin probably is a stunt double for Toast. Besides that, I see him probably being Jimmy’s dealer (Jimmy does copious amounts of drugs he is never not on cocaine idk what to tell u /hj). He prefers to keep out of the actual spotlight of celebrity lifestyle, and instead reap his own benefits from it in the background.

Mary. Hmmm….. I feel like she needs something that’s not like, typical spotlight celebrity. I remember a certain someone (wink wink) talking about ballerina Mary… I think that’s actually perfect. She’s a skilled and renowned ballerina, but also, I think she figure skates. And does some modeling on the side—maybe how she met Toast? I’ll have to think more on it.
