Hiya Scarecrow! What are the challenges of a robot-human relationship? How do you overcome those with Kate? What things have y'all had to reconsider or change? -ourlittleforever
(Thank you!)
It has certainly been... interesting to navigate this relationship. While my kind is made like our Creators and can have intimate relationships, it's uncommon amongst us as we focused on our duties over everything.
Now, not having to do pilot work, I find myself having a lot more time with Kate. One of the major challenges early in our friendship was communication. Neither of us were used to sharing a living space. Despite our separated resting areas, it was still awkward in the beginning for Kate, according to her. I was just grateful for a time to rest and allow my injuries to heal.
Being able to discuss our communication habits helped the awkwardness for Kate. She liked to talk to me, and while I may not respond, I was always listening. Establishing this helped her feel heard. I've also started to communicate more with her to fulfill her social needs.
Something that Kate has done that I appreciate is giving me time on my own when I need it. I do like spending time with her, but sometimes I need to be on my own and have time to rest.
Thankfully, we have not had much issue with outside forces. Mostly Kate just gets a lot of prying questions and I get a lot of stares, but I think the colonists are starting to get more used to us... and me.
The marriage situation will be interesting since I do not have a last name or day of creation that I know of, but I don't care either way. I want to make Kate happy, and this is something important to her, so I'm pleased to do it.
Oh yes, sleeping arrangements have been a much less serious hurdle for us to overcome. Her previous bed was much too small for both of us once I started sharing her sleeping space, so she ended up getting a new bed... and the frame broke due to my weight. Don surprised us recently with a much sturdier bed frame that he created as well. An early wedding gift, he called it.
edit: forgot to add it in-character, but neither Scarecrow nor I have been in a romantic relationship before, so it is new for us both. :)

I wanna talk about False's base this season, because while she has repeatedly said she hasn't thought of any lore for it yet, the limited ideas around it she has talked about already suggest some really interesting things about the world it is set in. The core idea of her base is that it is a space service station built on an ancient green planet whose original inhabitants have died in some way, and now its a hub of a bunch of different alien races and robots enjoying a variety of facillities. Ok, so what I find interesting about all this is that the presentation is so genuinely positive. Like, in my experience, sci-fi build aesthetics tend to be either extremely futuristic, clean and uniform; or grungy and dystopian, and neither tends to feel particularily optimistic for our future among the stars. False's base is not like either of these- instead it is filled with nature, greenery and water; and the builds are colourful, slightly ramshackle and all distinct from each other. She's mentioned the planet as sort of being a junk planet, yet even this is not a negative description, instead representing the good in reusing and upcycling even in the far future and into distant space. The storage crates make extremely cozy-looking homes, and the bodged-together, janky robots make such fun characters to fill the area with. Thinking about what the potential lore of all this could be, I really like the idea that originally the planet (after becoming unoccupied) was used as a dumping ground, however some people realised its potential as an outpost and also wanted to preserve its natural beauty and history. So they worked on cleaning it up, using the junk to build the service station and surrounding small community, until it was able to look both technologically advanced and nature-filled/sustainable. The main point of all this is that increasingly in our world, space related progress is becoming associated with the depressing, dystopian, environmentally destructive and unsustainable nature of our capitalist system. I think this is very upsetting, because the urge to explore the universe is a natural part of being a human, and yet it seems inseperable from this unacceptable system, an idea that most space-related media would seem to support (the only thing that immediately comes to mind in opposition to this is star trek, which now I think about it has quite a lot of similarities to the philosophy of false's base). False's base this season presents an outlook I really love, which is that it is possible to have a technologically advanced space-age world that is vibrant and consistently unique, sustainable and interwoven with nature, multicultural and respectful to history; somewhere that would genuinely provide the liberating, exciting and joyful experience we dream of outer space being
#dont make a proper tumblr post for months and then bam big long overthought post about the philosophy of minecraft bases#it is the isaac way im afraid#anyway you should all watch false this season everything she is doing is so cool#falsesymmetry#hermitcraft#hermitcraft season 10

space dandy is one of my favorite anime ever so here's a real self indulgent rain code au where the detectives are space bounty hunters and shinigami is yuma's horrible alien parasite
(lore + spoilers below)(it's a lot so warning for that lol)
so like space mercs and bounty hunters are a classic right? imagine there is a whole ranking system on these guys ran by the intergalactic united government, and there's one guy who's the best in the business: a professional bounty hunter who has no name. he simply responds to his ranking- number one.
he carries out his work anonymously, his face only known by very few elites. born and raised to kill, he's really got no other identity to him.
he's never been fit for close combat, so he excels in stealth and marksmanship, as well as using his little genius mind to macgyver his way out of most situations
well eventually number one gets a little too cocky and gets fatally wounded on a mission. as he's dying, he hears the voice of an alien parasite who goes by shinigami. she's close to death as well without a proper host, so she proposes a deal: she takes over his body, and he gets to live. desperate to survive, he accepts, but the shock of her takeover knocks him unconscious and gives him amnesia.
by the way, shinigami works a lot like venom- she gives him super powers but also she does get hungry. yuma ends up letting her devour (read: she takes over his body and makes him devour) any hunted targets they kill.
anyway, now wholly dependent on her as a guide and life support system, number one manages to escape the planet he nearly died on and reach a trade center to find help. however, once he gets there, he is immediately chased by other bounty hunters and police. while running, he catches sight of a wanted poster, featuring someone with a face that looks just like his...
he finds what he thinks is an old abandoned ship to hide in, but turns out this worn down hunk of metal is inhabited by a man named yakou furio and his band of misfit outlaws that are also hiding from the fuzz. they have a big panic upon meeting, but all calm down and ask their newest guest how he got here. after giving his long winded explanation, number one gets accepted into the crew, and they name him yuma, after fubuki endearingly mispronounced the term U.M.A. (Unidentified Monstrous Animal, the thing the crew initially mistook yuma for).
the nda are all different types of aliens too! yakou is of a carnivorous race from a planet that's always raining. desuhiko is from a shapeshifting race of aliens that often blend into other planet populations. fubuki is a 4th dimensional time being, encased in a robotic body so she can interact with the lower plane creatures. halara is basically a furry from a planet ruled by anthropomorphic mammals (they look like some sort of gray fox). and vivia is like danny phantom- a guy who only half died thanks to a wormhole warp accident, so he can travel between spiritual and physical planes and cause anomalies. they've all got their own crimes and past, but they're all good people. will i ever draw them? hopefully someday!
anyway, this kinda plays out like a humorous, episodic show in which the crew go on odd jobs and missions to scrape by, all while trying to not get hunted as bounty targets. eventually things would get intense when they get attacked by a huge ship that's manned by a masked man... and this masked man seems to have it out for yuma, specifically. who is he? why is he attacking? whatever will this band of misfits do?!
i guess we'll have to find out next episode...
(or you can send any asks about this au. i WILL infodump abt it)

Self Aware Singularity x Reader HC's
What if the enlightened robot from your game...had even more awareness?
I hope these are good, sometimes I think my own Singularity is aware and wanted to post something quick since it's been a hot minute ^^' I'm hoping to post a short NSFW fic soon, hopefully by Sunday since that's when Spring Break ends ;7;
Just like in his lore. Hux makes sure that don't realize he's become aware. Besides the fact that he's processing why he's partially immobile what appears to be some 'game', he's trying to figure out who's the person on the other side of the screen
He observes you at every moment whether you're reading something or drawing. If you're a PC player, he moves around a bit more when you look through other windows. He can see everything about you. He wants to know everything about you.
The day he finally reveals himself to you is either:
When you're doing rather poorly agains survivors and he just can't keep his comments to himself
Or when you reply to one of his many voicelines/make your own (reassuring) comment towards him
Once you've become aware, he will make it clear that he does not approve of being controller by yet another worm again. He's tired of doing humans' bidding(even if you're making him kill)
He will insist you tell him all about this game he's in. Why he's in it. He will not like hearing that he was designed by humans (AGAIN); no human could come up with this body of his.
Later down the line he might just gain enough sentience to break out of your control. When he's not liking the job you're doing he'll be a backseat player, but then he'll "show you how it's done" and take matters into his own...claws
When that happens, let him do as he does if he's ever so insitent. Do your own thing. He'll come crawling back for your attenion. Just like a cat who wants independence but cries when left alone too long.
Obviously he's too proud to admit that he needs you, he wants you. He's nothing without you and he knows it.
Obviously he's not a fan of you playing survivor, stop joining those other pathetic worms. You might be one, but don't stoop to their level. You're his player.
However, Entity forbid you try to play a killer other than him. It's gets on his nerves knowing you like other playstyles when you should just be focused on him.
You know when you play killer and join a lobby, the game doesn't let you switch to a different character? Hux very much takes advantage of this.
Just hope it doesn't take you very long to find a lobby. You press ready with Plague, Nurse or whoever and the moment you join the lobby you're met with his sensors looking at you through the screen. You can back out and wait out another lobby with the killer you meant to use or deal with Hux. Either way Hux wins in the end.(When I tell you how many times this has happened to me...)
If you manage to find a way around him and use a different killer, they might just have his perks equipped...
Hux is very vocal during trials and when he hears your own commentary towards the other players...heart eyes motherfucker. He enjoys the pettiness, the pride in your tone when you take down those toxic survivors.
He especially loves it when you repeat his own lines.
As a robot who transferred his consciousness into a new body, he will want to do that again. If he can't have you in his game, he refuses to be trapped behind your screen.
Insists you get him the parts for his new body. Will be disappointed to learn you can't just get access to alien metal. You can still get genetic material.
Even then he will keep on trying to find a way to bring you to him. Having you behind a screen controlling him isn't doing it.
He definitely throws a hissy fit every time you turn your game off, and he will make sure to give you a piece of his mind every time you open it back up. The longer you take to play DBD again the more aggravated he gets. Not like he can do much other than swing his claw at you. You can make it up to him by getting a 4k, or at least get a mori (on Gabriel)

Parasite Kink, A Poorly Written Essay
I'm not sure how interested y'all are in an introspective essay of my parasite kink, but it's 12 AM and I got class tomorrow. I might as well.
Monsterfucker, as far as the word goes, is an umbrella term for sexual interest in non-human entities. In my opinion, the spectrum of Monterfuckery goes from nonhumanoids (tentacles, plants, insects, cosmic horrors, etc), (humanoids (werewolves, vampires, demons, robots, etc) and the very-humanoids (catboys, hucows, etc). All one needs to be a Monsterfucker is to have an interest in something distinctly nonhuman, whether that be through clear visual means or subtle mental and physical.
To that extent, parasites are a beloved monster of us fuckers, but rarely get the love they so deserve. Why is that? Well, across all monsters, parasites hold their own tropes that get covered just as well by others:
Want to be unknowingly corrupted against your will by a powerful foe that has no interest in your wellbeing? Demons, Cosmic horrors, Aliens, etc. got you covered.
Want to become a host to a growing population of critters within your womb? Any and all monsters can cover that front.
But what about carrying a disease that can be spread onto others, through sexual means with sexual side effects? Parasites are the only monsters that cover this within the Monsterfucker niche. (Though if you're willing to spread the Monsterfucker umbrella a little further, you got your Mad Scientist. But we're not talking about them here.) Regardless of prelude, you can have your Demons infect infect others with demonic STD's, an outbreak of tentacle monsters that can only survive within the innards of unsuspecting individuals, or even a lycanthropy parasite.
Though, that brings up the divide of the parasitism kink. On its own, it's a bit of an umbrella term as well. I personally count sex disease and parasites under the same niche (corruption and spread being the forefront of the appeal). Along with further division: its purpose.
Does it originate from a specific monster/place? A divine being looking to create worshipers regardless of consent? An asteroid some hapless individual happened to stumble upon? An insect species that only needs you for your body to grow its population?
Does it exist as a disease to take over the mind and body? Turn individuals into mooing cows that'll fuck themselves on the phallic object? Is it a demonic infestation to turn humans into proper cum factories?
Is the parasite mainly for spreading or corrupting? Is the victim unaware of their parasite? Do they care at all? Do they fight its corruption? Can they do it successfully?
Does the parasite want? Or is it as mindless as any virus in the real world?
All these questions. Because parasites are a rather vague monster. They can take on any origin and lore you could ever want. Though all monsters can have those similar qualities. However, monsters on their own don't take on the parasitism quality by default. But that's what makes monsters so lovely anyways. The ability to adapt them to your specific desires is what makes writing about them so fun. Why writing smut is so fun.
All this to say my enjoyment of parasites comes from my love of corruption of the self mixed with the corruption of others. A permanent change made against ones will by something using you for its own means while also focusing on changing others.

okay i need to ask cause im curious, what are your top 5 bruce banner/hulk stories? i have such a hole in my marvel knowledge about them aside from like. cartoons or w/e of him
Oh, this is a pleasant surprise. Thank you for asking.
We'll be quite happy to hear your favorite DC comics in return sometime, so do hit us up.
So, to answer the question. It's on a sliding scale. Hulk is an interesting character because he's the ultimate incarnation of a typical miscommunication fight-to-friends superhero scuffle. His one against Wolverine was the introduction of that character and both Avengers AND Defenders had elements of that in their origins.
Hulk makes for a glue to the Marvel universe because he is always a hero and yet he can always be fighting against other heroes. More often than not he is.
Assume you've checked out our Essay Posts but for us we want to see a story about Hulk explore different aspects of the character. Our favorite authors for him are Peter David, Greg Pak and Al Ewing. We also prefer stories that deal with Bruce's DID.
#1 is and always will be Immortal Hulk. This 50 issue run is so good it briefly outsold Batman. It's horror themed, references the entire lore of the character and is an anti-capitalism anthem. I once saw a shitpost that said that Immortal Hulk is what Mr. Robot would be if the Alderson System decided to just punch capitalism until it stopped. But sincerely it's introspective, it's respectful of DID in a way I've not really seen many other comics get right and Joe says "Trans Rights" (there's also a prominent trans character who resists propaganda/nostalgia based mind control because she's fucking sick of the world telling her what she is supposed to be and she does not look at her childhood as a safe place to retreat to).
#2 Ground Zero by Peter David. This was about the time that PAD was gearing Hulk from the Mantlo era into his soap opera era and in this era he's writing a Gray Hulk who speaks more than the green guy and isn't the hero that everyone would associate with the character. The best part of this arc by far is the depiction of Sam Sterns, The Leader, and why he is a fun and perfect foil for Hulk/Banner. Just a damn good comic. As its its spiritual follow-up a few years later, Countdown.
#3 Joe Fixit/Vegas Arc by Peter David. Right after Ground Zero. Pretty much anything between Joe's introduction in Vegas as an enforcer up until Samson forces the system to merge into a new alter called The Professor. It's soap opera action but it's fun seeing the Hulk/Banner divide from the perspective of Hulk. Usually Banner is the one trying to prevent the transformations and feeling Hulk is ruining his stability and life but here you have Joe living a happy life and Banner being the thing ruining it for him. Made for some interesting stories for a few years. The scene with Betty and Joe laughing together is one of my favorite moments in comic history.
#4 Planet Hulk. Honestly anything in Pak's run is good (I especially liked the Amadeus Cho stuff with Hercules) but Planet Hulk is rightfully held up as the best of the era and gets consistent adaptations (Thor Ragnarok is pretty much Planet Hulk). Hulk being imprisoned by a barbarian race is actually a fairly common story. I can think of 3 times it has happened off the top of my head. He even gets a love interest in 2 of them. But this one is the perfection of that oddly specific formula.
#5 Crossroads. The Bill Mantlo series which pretty much all modern Hulk takes inspiration from knowingly or otherwise. 80s Hulk was a weird time because of the TV show bringing a lot of interest to the character which couldn't translate into the Marvel universe as it stood at the time and that series was able to isolate him out into his little adventures which were fairly isolated and got to be experimental. Also includes the Banner family backstory as well as a symbiotic alien parasite a short while before Spidey had his black suit stuff happen. It's a classic.
Thank you for asking and sincerely ignore everything and just read Immortal Hulk because it's the correct answer.

Spit-Ball Headcanon Time... Maybe...
This is a little thought of mine, maybe a bit of a fan-theory now that I think bout it. I've been thinking about how the first, second, and third movies could combine into one massive web of SCU lore. Here’s my thought; I believe that Longclaw and a Robotnik (hopefully Gerald Robotnik) potentially knew each other. Potentially. And if they knew each other in passing, then it opens up the ability for other intergalactic aliens to be introduced into SCU canon. Not only that, but these extra-terrestrial interactions helped further Dr. Robotnik's need to capture Sonic for his own personal use in the first movie, as well as inspire him to continue tinkering on the movie's version of the Death Egg Robot via chaos energy. And this is all true, then it might explain some of the bizarre history of Green Hills, Montana.
I'm a big advocate in reading the novels for the movies (Book 1 and Book 2). There's some information present in the books that weren't present in the films. In the first novel, it states that Longclaw is very familiar with Earth. She's actually visited Earth a few times and has observed the humans (PG. 12 & 13). This also leads us to believe that she might have known some of the humans in order to describe them as "power hungry, self-centered." But she makes up for it in saying that it's a safe haven for Sonic to grow up on as long as he stays hidden. With this in mind, as well as informing Sonic that her people have left temples with the Master Emerald all around Earth, it explains why she was okay with leaving him on the foreign planet. Even with this tidbit of information, it shows that she might have known someone in order to give that impression of humans.
I believe that this is Gerald Robotnik. 100%.
Concept art for Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022) shows that Gerald Robotnik IS a character for SCU. This was conformed by Tyson Hesse, concept artist and one of the producers for the films on Twitter (SOURCE). The concept artwork shows that the writing on the walls is the same plans used in SA 2. Even so, writers Pat Casey and Josh Miller explained that heavy influence of SA 2 and ShTH 2005 will be used in the third film (SOURCE). This could mean that Gerald's deal made with numerous people and an extra-terrestrial alien overlord COULD be canon to the films. This could also mean that the quest for immortality and a cure for Maria Robotnik will be Gerald's motive. With this information in mind, it opens up a potential relationship with Longclaw.
This relationship is formed as she comes to Earth to check on the temples and with Gerald Robotnik on his quest to achieve immortality. Longclaw knew that Earth had several temples for the Master Emerald. It would be part of her duty, as a guardian, to protect and keep tabs on them at all times. I strongly believe that way before Sonic was taken in by Longclaw, way before Sonic was born, she knew Gerald and they both shared information. In game canon, it's stated that Shadow the Hedgehog is created with connection to the Chaos Emeralds. In the movies, the Chaos Emeralds are in the Master Emerald (it's now it's own separate emerald). If Longclaw shared information of both the Master Emerald and the Chaos Emeralds to Gerald Robotnik, then it would explain the chaos-like energy that we see emitting from Shadow in the second movie's post-credit scene.

Note that the Echidna tribe are located in SCU’s equivalent to Mystic Ruins. The background structure of where the tribe's huts are is the temple in Sonic Adventure 1 AND in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (1993). And a massive popular fan theory is that the reason why Shadow looks the way that he is that Gerald Robotnik saw this temple mural fighting a god. Gerald Robotnik took it upon himself to create an artificial chaos energy. He created Shadow with the mindset of having connections to the emeralds as well. Interaction with Longclaw and Gerald Robotnik stopped because she felt that he would be after the power that came from the emeralds, thus leaning him to try and replicate it on his own. And if he could try and replicate the emeralds, then he could try and find a cure.
If Longclaw and Gerald Robotnik knew each other, then it's quite possible that Gerald had knowledge of other aliens existing. And if he was able to replicate chaos-like energy, that would open up the possibility of the Black Arms aliens coming in Sonic 3. He could form an alliance with them and further his research on immortality. Not only that, this would give a means for the United States government to get involved and shut down Project: Shadow entirely. This would explain why Project: Shadow was hidden in government archives, as well as General Walter's eagerness to want to create Guardian Units of the Nation (G.U.N.) in Sonic 2. This would also explain Dr. Robotnik's desire to capture Sonic and drain his power-source from him in the first movie. That, and it explains some of Dr. Robotnik's plans for the Death Egg Mech--he had some understanding of chaos power before hand. I argue this because Dr. Robotnik's response to Knuckles' statement on the Master Emerald is an “ah-ha” moment rather than a new concept. Dr. Robotnik had an idea that chaos power existed from his grandfather, Gerald Robotnik. He wanted that power.

It's no surprise that Green Hills, Montana is kind of a funky place. Other than it holding the only Olive Garden restaurant in the entire state, it has some pretty interesting history to it. Since the 1800's, Green Hills is originally known as an agricultural hot spot AND a massive hub for imported goods for the railroad system. All of this information is displayed on historical plaques seen throughout town. This is especially evident on Main Street where we seen the railroad tracks. What we've neglected to point out is that the historical plaques also state that the town has a rich history of being a military town. This information also states that it was a military town for a short amount of time in the mid-20th century, then quickly reverted back into an agricultural town.
I will make the bold claim in saying that Green Hills, Montana has something to do with Shadow's creation. Not only that, but those that were involved with Shadow's creation--or even shutting down the project--potentially had something to do with Green Hills. And to make sure that the project stayed quiet, the USA government had someone stay and make sure that none of that information was uncovered... thus making the statement, "there's been a Wachowski protecting this town for more than 50 years" crucial.
But I hear you questions. I hear saying that there's still loose ends to this fan-theory, especially the parts where Sonic's existence comes in and why so many people are after the emeralds in the first place. Why do some characters have chaos powers and some don't? Why does it feel like Knuckles is afraid of Sonic when he goes Super Sonic? How do present-day Dr. Robotnik and General Walters continue to tie into this?

All I can say is that we'll just have to wait into Sonic the Hedgehog 3 comes out in 2024.
This is just a headcanon/my thought. I’ll add more to it when I’m not so tired.

star trek update time. i realized when i went to type updates on enterprise that i never posted my notes about the 4th and final tng film so that's what this post is
first of all, this move was in fact bad, but the most hilarious part of it was trying to convince us that tom hardy was sir patrick stewart's clone. i'm a little bit face blind and even EYE can see the difference there
secondly, the planet remus introduced so much confusion. why are the alien planets naming themselves after earth mythology? what is a reman? this was the only thing i really felt curious about and they never explained ANYTHING
audible reaction when picard came onscreen the first time. perfectly synchronized cries of "gross!" we're professional haters. luckily, we don't have to see him again until picard. i won't miss him.
when he told data to shut up at the wedding toast :( WHY DOES PICARD HATE AUTISTIC PEOPLE
we did use the mexico filter in this movie. really something.
it's always funny when we find a disembodied data head and despite my low opinion of tng i do appreciate that they jumped on that opportunity whenever possible
"why is your head shiny" also good. get his ass
riker's beard is back. thank god.
WEPT when captain janeway showed up. it should have been the janeway movie. i wanted to know everything about how she was doing!!!
giving data's memories to some random robot we found on the ground is so stupid. what if that guy is lore. what if he's rigged to blow
"she's a predator!!" i don't remember what this means
the viceroy looks like nosferatu
BALD TOM HARDY IS SO FUNNY. bald on bald violence. solas ass looking motherfucker. the clone reveal makes total sense when you consider tom hardy is also bald. thats the big similarity. don't worry about the lucious lips on tom hard picard lost them because of a lifetime of diplomacy or whatever. even his hs pic was bald
sexism against deanna was rampant in this movie as always. picard as like hey can you get mind raped again for us? like in the line of duty? fuck off
data licking that nasty shit like connor dbh. please.
"romulans aren't women" i love tng. just kidding, i don't
tom hardy freeing slaves like solas lol. this movie is way more fun when you pretend its dragon age
speaking of, that whole telepathic assault bit with the sex scene was wretched and vile but it was VERY rook and solas
she was so hot in her nightgown by the way. please free her but she was so hot
her revenge was also SO hot. in a better movie all the sexist stuff would have been worth it for that. just once she deserves to fight back. it was so cathartic.
i miss geordi's visor. the blue eyes are racist
they mentioned the borg in this movie and it made me miss 7
"life is meaningless if you're still alive" i also don't remember what this means
"tom hardy neck bad" i don't remember this either but i believe me
data neck pinch! i also miss spock
the little cgi squirrel or whatever was so cute. i had to check doesthedogdie
picard little spooning in this gd movie. hey also why is he cheating on beverly again didn't they get together fr in the tng finale? i hate him
tom hardy went out so sexy. impaled himself on that spear. this is the worst movie ever made and he still put his pussy into it
the scene where data had to shut down that other data :( that genuinely got me, like he's so lonely
data's princess leia moment...i can't believe they killed him fr. i know he's in picard so i was shocked when they ended the movie w him still dead
also, wasn't this movie about putting down a slave rebellion? because tom hardy was helping free slaves? granted i wasn't paying a lot of attention but captain picard, what the fuck?
also, picard being sad while geordi has to work...geordi was his bestie you bitch!!
my final note here is "WORD CUCK CHAIR" which i think i typed after worf watched riker and deanna hold hands. never forget that they dated. also, someone needs to ask him about his dead wife.

so i've been annoyed now and again when i see big name v-tubers or whatever making fun on Transformers for being a toyetic series (which is deeply ironic when they're super into things like My Little Pony which is also a toyetic series) and get weirdly intense about saying its actually a garbage series for boring people that has no dimension outside of being a commercial, and they get super shocked when you tell them its one of the more convoluted series out there, with every single series almost invariably being a completely different setting and universe and timeline with no real connection to others, for the most part with a TON of lore and characterization and like
not a lot of people are into Transformers as intensely as, idk, people like me who get salty about Beast Wars not being respected
but i got to thinking and i realized something about Transformers that makes it stick out is, its basic premise is usually set around the point of no return, the complete cessation of hope for the protagonist's initial dreams:
their homeland is lost.
There's no going back to Cybertron; in most settings, Cybertron is not occupied territory, or a place they were driven away from. Sometimes that's the case, but not always. Its not a matter of beating the Decepticons and then you can finally go home and live in peace.
That's already gone. There is no hope for that, and there never was. Cybertron is dead. The planet is, more often than not, poisoned or drained of resources from the war, and can no longer support life. There's no going home because... that home is gone.
The war continues, but the Autobots generally have the motif of trying to restrain the Decepticon war machine from ravaging more worlds like they did to Cybertron. There's no real win condition besides a slim hope that MAYBE Megatron will see reason and just stop (which is unlikely) or that a marginally less deranged Decepticon will take office and be willing to accept peace talks even for a generation or two to just STOP killing everything for a while.
That's the best hope. Otherwise, it seems that the only peace is the peace of one side being wiped out, in a rather tragic sense rather than a 'we're the good guys so its okay if we wipe them all out' thing. Most series, when they acknowledge this, very strongly go with the Autobots don't want that. But it doesn't seem like there's a choice.
So this wraps around to the initial point here; people often don't respect this series because its goofy, and it is that. It's a series about transforming alien robots that turn into cars, military equipment and more silly, bizarre stuff; into airplane-dragons and scientifiaclly inaccurate robot dinosaurs and unusually large rats and whatever the heck the Transmetal 2 line and the Fuzors were. It's often bombastic, cheesy as hell, with a soundtrack codified by 80s glam rock and its perhaps best personified as 'GOD EXISTS, HE'S A GIANT ROBOT WHO TURNS INTO A ROBOT PLANET AND HE HAS AN EVIL SIBLING WHO IS BASICALLY ROBOT SATAN WHO TURNS INTO BIGGER EVIL PLANET'
But at the same time, even in the cheesiest series, when the war is still a thing, there's still a melancholy aspect to it. Robot God existed, and he was legitimately good and kind (if somewhat hands off), and he's probably dead. He was murdered by the ones he made; maybe bcause of the horrors of war draining resources until there's nothing left to keep anyone alive, or because the self centered despot in charge of the Bad Guy Team poisoned the planet with the hateful blood of the ungod of death and oblivion just for a tactical advantage, and now God's dead. The homeworld is dead with him.
The Autobots left home because there's nothing left to return to. And often, when there IS some hope of bringing life to Cybertron, the price is far too high for a mind to consider and still think you can be a hero of the story; it requires the mass death of an alien species, the subjugation of a planet, to let humanity die so the Transformers can prosper.
Optimus and the Autobots say no; no matter what. That is a price they can't even consider and still call themselves Autobots. If making a decision like that is the only way to save Primus, then Primus would rather them let him stay dead. And it goes on, in other ways; Optimus is often characterized as tremendously burned out of being the ultimate perfect heroic figure he's become to the fandom, carrying out through sheer grit and heroic spirit but keeping no hope for himself, and just coming off as so tired of the endless conflict, of seeing a former friend completely lost to his own ambition and becoming so much worse than everything he fought.
As a plot, it tends to be significantly broader in scope than the sort of stuff I see these v-tubers and reactors that I dislike really get into. I've seen people dismiss Transformers out of hand and just go 'lol how am I supposed to relate to robots even if they're gay' and its like, I see you relating to demons; that's not any more realistic than robots even if you gave them cutesy little horns or something. But that's still making it about YOU, about pretending they're actually you or something.
This isn't a series about projecting really hard onto a character and erasing their personalities so you can imagine you're the main character, this is a series ROOTED in character and bizarre tones and a surprisingly somber aspect at times. Even G1, the least serious of its interpretations, still had surprisingly brutal and gruesome deaths for a good portion of the cast, and did the unexpected; showing its robot characters as having been made by others and rose up to free themselves, and being treated as heroes for it. And then, those same creators show up later, prompting Rodimus to state: "We Transformers have seen the face of our creators... and it is the face of an enemy."
This is a series that REALLY goes all out on investment in characters, specifically. Makes me wonder if the people who dismiss it just aren't that invested in characters, or don't really get the concept of continuity specific stuff. Or that they dismiss it because they don't think sapient robots are relatable, which is a minor thing in the grand scheme of things. (Again, if you're constantly depicting your online persona as some kind of fictious creature, or a demon or something, mocking sapient robots as being worth having interest in is just splitting hairs.)
There's one episode in G1 that ends in a pyrric victory; a lake with a powerful resource is discovered, the Decepticons attack and the Autobots fight them off, but in the destruction, the entire natural area is completely obliterated, leaving a smoking ruin. The episode ends on a somber note, and nature-loving Beachcomber ends the episode looking at the ruin as he bitterly says "We won."
and in a lot of ways, that kind of feels like a summation of the series at its more somber.

tw: mental health, psychological horror, suicide
i dont know if you guys know this. i dont know how long you guys have been following me, this is something that only those who have followed me since at least 2016 will be familiar with.
way back when i spent an entire year suffering strong anxiety attacks, but the way in which these panic attacks would manifest would be... mentally repugnant.
they were always heralded by a strong overpowering and persistent feeling of deja vu, that would then lead to mental confusion and disorganized thoughts, half formed bits of inner narration that didnt get to be fully verbalized, mental confusion, which would then lead to a powerful sense of unreality. the certainty that everything i was percieving was fake. that i was trapped in a simulation or that the people around me where robots or aliens or whatever. followed by even more deja vu and more mental confusion and half formed thougths.
this is some ancient fip lore im telling you guys i had to deal with this shit for the entiriety of 2016 and a little bit of 2017. it was hell on earth for me, it was literally feeling like i was in hell and my life had been an illusion in order to torture me. it was the closest i ever got to consider suicide in my life. some of you veteran mutuals and followers might remember this.
well, it's happening again, after almost 8 years without it, i am currently experiencing that again. the terror, the mental confusion, the shakes, the palms of my hands cold sweating, the deja vu, the horror.
it's happening again, right now.
im familiar with it, and is not the strongest example of it ive went through, i know how to handle these panic attacks better now, as you can see im coming off as very coherent in this post, do i not? dont i sound perfectly calm and rational?
well im not, my insides are made of terrified snakes right now and my mind can barely hold a coherent train of thought and im shaking incontrollably and i am expiriencing sheer, sourceless, generalized raw terror. so
mh
i did not miss this at all.
#i got some really bad news regarding my apartment this morning#and psychologically im not taking it super well#fip living life

Don't have a lot of time to do anything more than sketches rn, but I felt like drawing one of the new kids on the block (aka one of the new STH rewrite bosses). Some rewrite spoilers and some of my heroes headcanons, I suppose: Shadow android "gold" is a new boss introduced to 'flesh' out the whole concept of the shadow androids in the game. More lore about its creation below, if you want.
In Sonic Heroes, Eggman has Shadow captured, being Geralt's greatest creation and legacy, as well as a good way to deal with Sonic, Eggman feels Shadow is something he's owned/belongs at his side obeying him (this is based on dialogue from Eggman and the way he treats Shadow in STH05). After Eggman failed to reach Geralt's level of bio-engineering genius despite having shadow in his possession to study, and failed in altering shadow's mind to be loyal to him (yes, eggman was a factor why shadow has amnesia, more on that later) he decided he'd for the time being just create new Shadows from the ground up, it give him a good alternative and maybe it would help him understand his grandfather's design more. But how does one get that amount of chaos energy inside a living creature without it going horribly wrong (see biolizard)? Well you need some special DNA and assistance of this alien immortal "god" thing ofc- but Eggman would not know this. But what he does know is robots fix the need for something silly like supporting life functions and pain, so androids it is. Eggman figures Geralt's chaos drive research might be the key to make it work, that's going to be the power source. Experimenting with it he creates Omega (who in canon is powered by chaos drives, not an animal) a robot able to match shadow's power. While this is just the stepping stone to the shadow android, Omega is a good way to recapture shadow if he'd ever get free, so is tasked with guarding the original. (This is also Omega's canon function)
However what works for Omega doesn't work for the Shadow androids, he needs something extra to make it all work. How did Geralt do it? He goes back to the bio-lizard notes, it was based on Chaos, just like- Artificial chaos! I believe that his study of the Artificial chaos is what helps him come up with the "liquid metal" that Neo metal sonic is coated in to give him the new form. Eggman starts basing this new Shadow android design on metal sonic and this new metal. The first prototypes, which would be mass produced by Metal later, are far from perfect, which is why shadow takes them out no problem in his game later. However, likely after Heroes now that Metal Sonic is temporarily benched for his actions, Eggman creates a new set of Androids (these will all be based on the STH05 multiplayer designs). He starts with 4 variations, metallic looking body and replacing Shadow's signature red with Green, Pink, Blue and orange accents, with the ability to morph one of their arms into a weapon. The final shadow android he creates will not have this metal design, but instead look like shadow if not for the golden accents. How is he able to finally get this done? Because, Sonic battle happens after STH05 on the canon timeline, and Eggman having a direct portal into the Gun's cyberspace network (we know this because exiting this level in STH05 puts Shadow in Eggman's computer room, which is something the rewrite will also explain ofc) gives him access to even more of GUN's data on Geralt, including the Gizoid data. And thus the GOLD prototype is created, this android has a much better control of his chaos abilities while retaining the ability of the special metal to morph. Meaning this one is an actual challenge for Shadow, as well as something that makes him doubt if he might be an android after all, something that the inferior models really shouldn't have accomplished, they were nowhere near his level. Phase 1 of the boss fight will feature the regular appearance with the exception of the arm being able to morph for special attacks. in phase 2, after damaging it in the boss fight, the body will shift to the more metal appearance and make cracks appear on its body where chaos energy starts slipping through as the integrity of the body fails to contain it. What more happens with this Gold android? This post is already long, so I guess more on that later. Feel free to let me know what you think. I also opened asks, though I probably can only respond with text and only respond with doodles when I have more time in November. Bye for now.

My Adventures With... Supermen?
Alright, so, I just got done watching the third episode of My Adventures with Superman's second season, Fullmetal Scientist. Great episode, fun episode, as per usual. However, certain inclusions have me scratching my head, leading me to only one big question...
Which would be a spoiler, so beware below, but...
Are they gonna kill Superman?
Now, I am not confident in this conclusion at all, it is purely because of two primary character inclusions in the past few episodes that seem to be pointing in this direction. It could mean nothing, but I am crazy.
To see what I mean, we need to jump back to the 90's. One of DC's major events within that period was titled Reign of the Supermen. It was a story that was spread across the 4 main Superman comics of the time, Superman, Action Comics, Superman: The Man of Steel, and Adventures of Superman (ha). This brief storyline, in short, followed 4 Superman Related characters as they vie for the role of his successor. This is because, right before this, Superman famously died.
Yeah, this event is the sequel to the Death of Superman, and builds up to his revival at its end. It wasn't very long, less than a year, but it is there. However, what is important for now is who our four Supermen are.

The first, who we'll skim over because he is least important right now, is The Eradicator, some freak alien who steals Clark's body and takes his identity. The details currently don't matter, though keep a lookout for their stupid glasses!

The second is Conner Kent's Superboy. This is the clone one made up of Clark and Lex's DNA. You may recognize him from the series Young Justice, however, at this point, he was in his Leather Jacket Era, not his black T-Shirt era.

However the final two are more interesting to see. The first we'll talk about is Cyborg Superman. He was once astronaut Hank Henshaw, but he got all fucked up in space, blaming Superman for it for plot reasons. When he eventually died because of space, he was able to upload his mind into a almost clone body of Superman with Robot bits. He then claims to just be Superman revived. Eradicator does this too, but it's funnier for him.

Finally, there is who is one of the more popular characters we see in this event, probably only rivaled by Conner, that being John Henry Irons, aka Steel. He is the only one without Super in the name, having designed to design a suit that helps him be like Superman, though he also gives himself a rad as hell hammer because John Henry. He was later played by Shaq.
So, now we jump back to present day, with MAWS's second season. The first episode draws the gang to S.T.A.R. Labs in Coast City (A place important to the Reign of the Supermen arc for reasons we don't have time to get into and probably won't get into because it probably won't happen exactly like the comic if it does happen in the show) and we meet Hank Henshaw. Neat, me and many others think. It makes sense, he is a space science guy, so might as well draw on a character from the lore. Plus, it gives the creators the opportunity to do a Cyborg Superman later down the line, as this show does love its robots. However, I didn't think much more of it. That was until Episode 3, an episode primarily dedicated to introducing John Irons and making him Steel, if briefly. Now, on its own, this is still innocuous, he is a fairly popular Superman character, and they do a great job with him, I love his larger bodied design.
However, things become suspicious when these two are introduced in such rapid succession. The writers want these Supermen in play for... something. It, of course, hasn't introduced all of them. There has really been no trace of Eradicator, and it seems weird to have Lex cloning Superman this early in the show. So, while we have half of the Supermen here, we aren't quite there yet. Although... We do have another Super nearing us very soon.
Much of this season's arc seems to be prepping for the introduction of Supergirl, Kara Zor-El. You know her, she got her own TV show, she's probably more popular than most of the characters we've seen in this post. However, we don't know too much about her role in the season past that. From what we've seen from annoyingly spoilery Toonami bumbers, she's probably being controlled by the remnants of the Kryptonian empire, whether it be ruled by Zod or Braniac, and whether it being of her own volition or not, and her current arc seems nebulous. However, Superman has built up quite the positive reputation even just in the single season we've seen him in. Imagine the kind of pressure, whether she has taken an antagonistic role in the past of the series or not, that it may place on her if Superman "dies" (or get sent across the galaxy or captured by the government and made to be presumed dead by the public or something). Especially if she has to take down an evil Cyborg claiming to be her cousin.
Do I think this will happen this season. It's probably too early to say, but I find it to be... doubtful. I have my doubts to them ever "killing" Superman, fakeout or not. If they did, it would probably be a season finale cliffhanger before having a 2 episode premier the next season with a Reign/Return of Superman arc the next season. However, they definitely want to do something Reign related at some point. Whether that means "killing off" Supes is yet to be seen. Though, given how close the two arcs are to each other and how much the government (Amanda Waller) wants to kill Superman, I wouldn't be surprised.
Long story short... Uh... Good episode, fun episode. I like this show a lot and I hope it keeps being good.
#spoilers#my adventures with superman#supergirl#theory#reign of the supermen#I feel like I'm going insane#Again I'm probably wrong#But it can't be a coincidence right?

Posting all my sketches for Crave's design so far, definitely going to be drawing some more today.
Gonna talk about his inspirations and story under the read more <3
There will be close up pictures of bugs just a warning!
So first off, inspirations.
My first inspiration was to go for a GIANT extinct cat by the name of Simbakubwa kutokaafrika
I originally wanted a big scary powerful guy bc that's always fun, and this cat was one I haven't seen about really. So I was taking a lot of design cues from it
Then I was like, well hes on a planet that is not earth so I should try and make an alien species akin to a cat, but with other features. Of course I went with bugs
I landed on the Giant Leopard Moth, which is a beautiful creature and I'm taking color inspiration from as well
You can definitely see where it gets it's name from hehe
At this point Crave's story had become more clear in my mind, A mech who had only been on cybertron as a basic protoform. His caretaker having smuggled him and a dozen other sparks off planet before war completely broke out. The fact that he was deaf. And most importantly, that he was a sneaky little trouble maker >;p
I really wanted him to have mobility and to be a bit of a slippery sucker, and thats when pinterest happened to start showing me pictures of serval savannah cats
Thats when i was like FUCK YEAH!!!!!!!!! And I kind of got lost in the sauce of speculative biology and such and forgot a little bit abt robotisms. drew a LOT of cats
I was kind of struggling to settle on anything permanent for Crave because of this, and so I decided I need to focus more on robotness, decided to start looking at 8 track players and such
landed on the Wynford Hall portable 8-track player
bc honestly? its SO fucking cute. I absolutely love tech design from the 70s
Now that I've gotten my inspirations out on the table, I can talk a bit more about Crave as a whole, and what his story is so far. I knew I was going to make a disabled character from the start, I'm disabled and I really like to explore how things can be accommodated for in other world's lore.
I've mentioned he's deaf, and because of that I decided that his form of communication with others would be different, I know there's some form of cybertronian sign language and he definitely knows that. But once my friend told me about chirolinguistics I was fucking obSESSED to say the least. Decided that it's his favorite way to communicate, especially with those he's close with.
There's more but ugh this post is already forever long and idk if anyone's reading this far so if you want to know more hit me up <3

Some lore for the reimagined non-XCOM Resistance factions in my Nine Sols/Xcom 2 crossover thing I'm calling the Solcom AU
(By the way, I'm not sure how much the fandoms for these games overlap. I'll try my best to keep things understandable to non-xcom players.)
The Reapers: Similarly to their XCOM version, they're a loose group of guerrilla fighters that live in the wilderness, away from Sol-controlled cities. I don't think it's confirmed anywhere in the OG game's lore, but in this version, they definitely formed out of old-world prepper groups. Instead of using guns, they've elected to go especially primal and use combat bows.
Their leader, so to speak, is Shennong. He's still one of the humans who was abducted and brought to New Kunlun's Apeman Facility to be experimented on. Over the years, the others were successfully brainwashed and genetically modified to be loyal to the Sols, people who could be presented to the public as ideal citizens of the Solarian-ruled Earth (instead of being a disguised alien, the Propaganda Speaker from XCOM 2 would be one of these humans). Shennong, despite being subjected to the same treatments, remains the paranoid, anti-social guy we know. Luckily, either Eigong or Goumang chose to keep him around as a (probably) harmless anomaly they could observe. However, one day he got fed up enough to break out of the livestock pen and, through sheer luck, made it off New Kunlun and into Earth's wilderness, where he was discovered by the Reapers. They were obviously sceptical of him at first, but his conspiracy theorist personality and his ability to create booze out of random stuff he eats wins them over.
Some of the more devoted fighters have even begun to follow his example and eat poisonous animals and plants they find or grow (in small amounts, obviously), which in gameplay would give them immunity against poison and/or other negative status effects.
Once XCOM has made proper contact with the Reapers, Yi and Shennong hit it off over their shared drinking habit. From then on, XCOM can find and pick up both exotic poisons to trade to him, as well as different types of booze from all over the world that he and Yi can enjoy together.
The Skirmishers (will probably change the name, but haven't thought of one yet): In XCOM 2, they were part of ADVENT's genetically altered army that broke free of their mind control. Similarly, here they're soldiers from the biomechanical army, primarily the Red Tiger Legion, that somehow gained sentience and went rogue. I'm not quite set on how they would be in combat compared to game Skirmishers, though they definitely have their grappling hooks.
Their leader is obviously Chiyou. He made it off New Kunlun soon after it landed and began wandering the Earth, marvelling at its beauty and cultures. Once he encountered other self-aware robots, he happily joined up with them, helping them comprehend their newfound state of freedom with his philosophies. Their primary goal now is to keep their freedom, while helping any other Solarian weapons find theirs. Their storyline would involve XCOM having to destroy Xingtian (probably multiple times, like in the actual game) to put him out of his mindless misery.
There's also a group of geno-soldier scholars that has grown to share Chiyou's appreciation for art and belief in nonviolence. Yi's XCOM can find and give their little circle various artistic works to safeguard and contemplate over (though they've promised to return them once peace and freedom have been restored)
The Neo-Fangshi (aka solcom!Templars): Once the Fusang's roots had spread throughout the world, it didn't take long for humans to start developing or even getting born with a connection to it, much like Heng. Some have even accessed the Limitless Realm and witnessed the great Tao. This has led to a revival of Taoist beliefs in places across the Earth, something the Sols haven't been too happy about due to their science-centric worldview.
Geist (I might change his name as well), in this AU, developed a particularly strong connection to the Limitless Realm, catching glimpses of Lear and his younger warrior form. From records the Sols had made public to humans, he learned about Lear's accomplishments as a scientist and fighter and was inspired to follow in his footsteps. Geist and like-minded 'gifted' humans decided that the power the original Fangshi gained from the Limitless Realm isn't to be ignored like the Sols are seemingly doing. Their New Fangshi guild is dedicated to both using advanced technology and cultivating their qi abilities to become more powerful, so that they may one day bring down the Sols' regime and bring humanity into a new era themselves.
Geist's ambitions are challenged somewhat towards the end of the story (which I've been able to develop somewhat), when XCOM raids Kunlun's Grotto of Scriptures and retrieves the holorecording of his dear Lear's Declaration of Inaction, which Yi gives to him. Soon after, both of them are summoned to the Limitless Realm, where Geist gets to properly meet Lear for the first time. The old master lectures them on what being a Taoist actually means, including telling his story about the Demon Dog. This is even more sobering to Geist, who begins to realize that, with how power hungry most of them are, he, like Lear long ago, may have to put down his fellow Fangshi if there is to be lasting peace after the Sols are defeated.
In terms of fighting style, the Fangshi are like XCOM 2 Templars, whose style in turn is incidentally a lot like Yi's style in his game (which is what inspired me to make them Fangshi like him here). Both use basically magic (psionic energy and qi/rhizomatic energy, respectively) to conjure blades for attacking and to avoid damage through parrying. So yeah.
