Hello I like the concept of reader in impostor sagau au, but what if the impostor who wants to kill the reader has power to dominate the will of the pepoles but he manily did to archons like venti and nahida becoese impostor knows that those two wodul help the reader. And those are prisoners in thier own body and trys to take back control of thier body even for few secends just to help reader escape, and that true impostor on the public acts on the public like good god but on the private. Where there is no acolaytes only thier dominated puppets they will shows true colors of cruler person that wodul like to punish all of acolaytes for leting reader run away but they can punish only those characters who are under thier control.

Anon, true words cannot express how much I want to hug you right now. I legit could not have come up with this idea myself LOL. Honestly, ik my writing is terrible, but I might make a angst oneshot out of this idea! Tysm for the idea, Anon!

But I really do love this idea! The Imposter being smart this time, bois. Poor Venti and Nahida, they're being held against their will—quite literally. But still, this is a super cool concept! Imposter being able to take control over people's wills, mainly the archons, along with every other character that seems to hold a deep loyalty to them.

So! Allow me to introduce...Imposter Headcanons!

When Imposter takes control, it is done by mind entirely. → Now, you might be asking "isn't that obvious?" Let me explain why I point this out. Think of this as a light switch. When Imposter wants to, they can simply slip into their own consciousness once this "switch" is turned on, and they can decide who's minds they can possess/take control/spectate.

Often times, characters would not be able to notice the Imposter's presence within their mind, but people who are keen or have been dealing with spirits in some way (Examples: Shenhe, Chongyun, Yae Miko, Cyno, etc.) would be able to feel that presence. This causes the feeling of the "Creator's presence" being placed everywhere, causing everyone to believe that the Reader is, in fact, the "imposter," when it should be the other way around.

To the Imposter, choosing who to have a constant control over is basically like choosing which characters you want to have on the party, except with one catch: it goes up to at least several hundreds of people. Imposter can literally have like- a fourth of the world possessed if they wanted to at this rate—

Imposter's actions don't always influence their puppet's actions, as there is a certain command these puppets would follow. For example, the Imposter could be feeling hungry and want something to eat, thus they cannot spectate their puppet's actions. They leave this final command in their heads: "Search for the traitor. Don't stop until you bring them to me. ALIVE." and then leave to have their lunch or something.

The Imposter's Actions May Sometimes influence the character's they possess and their actions. → The best way to explain this is an example: Let's say the Imposter feels sleepy, and they decide to go to sleep after giving the final command to their current puppets to continuing searching for the traitor (for context, this "traitor" is someone who didn't believe in their "creator" aka imposter). They would do it, it's just...sometimes, the puppets may also feel fatigue. This causes their actions to be more sluggish, some of the puppets are less keen than they usually are.

Just think of Al-Haitham except his mind is being clouded by 2 weeks worth of no sleep to the point he has to have taken one cup too many of coffee to function.

The Imposter can speak through their puppets. → This is very helpful. From physical appearance, it just seems like they're the same, but their voice? Oh no, that's a entirely new story yet to be discovered.

The Imposter's voice is overlaid on the character's voice. Think of it like playing two songs at once at the same time. Except, Imposter's voice would come out stronger than the character's voice.

For example, imagine Reader bumping into Nahida, right? They're basically having a Goose Chase, since Reader is trying to get away from Nahida, thinking (correctly) that she'll kill them. And then she taunts, "Come out, imposter. You can't hide forever!" Nahida's voice is entirely overpowered by the Imposter's voice.

This is also beneficial for the Imposter's hunting army. Why? Because, if several hundreds of people begin storming a place, and people are panicking, the Imposter can have all of their puppets speak at once, saying something like "Don't fret, my people. It is I, your Creator." Which immediately calms down the citizens, before the Imposter commands to their army "Search for the Imposter!"

Yes, that means the commands the Imposter gives could be both a verbal order or a mental one.

Imposter Cannot search in people's memories. → While in control, the Imposter cannot look through their puppet's memories. This is probably the easiest loophole the Imposter gets, seeing that they seem to have a close eye on the Archons, having their presence on them sub-consciously at this point. They can simply order Nahida to read someone's mind, or just straight up take over her body to do it if she refuses.

The Imposter doesn't have to worry about their puppet's consciousness, because they're usually in a daze or in a sleepy state whenever the Imposter is in control. It gives them easy access to do whatever they want to their physical bodies.

However, once Nahida and/or Venti decide to break through it once to let the Reader escape? Oh no, Imposter will, first of all, punish those two severely, and, second of all, be worried if that were to happen ever again.

Imposter will legit throw them in a cage, probably both mentally and physically. They're taking absolute precautions to make sure it doesn't happen ever to those who seem more interested in escaping their grasp.

You can basically say goodbye to Nahida and Venti—Imposter will not let go of their control over them. They'll be in their heads day in and day out. No excuses, and no escapes.

Legit Imposter is a straight up tyrant. And tbh, Idk if Reader will be making out alive on this sagau au concept, lads.

For fictives, does it ever. feel weird at all. to know that in their source, nearly all of their life (or the life of some version of them) is just. able to be seen by anyone. and it's common for fans of said source to analyze everything/everyone in the source?

Do any of the fictives in your system have vivid memories of source? Does anything change/feel different when the source reveals some unexpected plot twist about the backstory? or is it just something like "oh lol that other-me sure has a funny life"? or does that also vary between alters?

& similarly do fictives of other people's ocs feel uneasy abt the source-oc's creator bc of them knowing/writing/sharing things about the story or anything?

Like I'd honestly feel a bit conflicted/strange about knowing there's just. casually someone who knows the entire life story of me / some version of me and can change it all on a whim if they wished. but also everyone probably sees things like that very differently

That really depends. Like Venti and Z find it fun, some don’t really care, some get a bit iffy, and a few view it as some fun guessing game sometimes. It can be a bit weird sometimes when it feels like someone can see straight through us, but overall, it’s not that bad?

That also varies between alters. Some of us have source memories, some don’t. Some have only bad memories, some have good, some have.. weird, some have a mix of those. All source memories though do at least somewhat tie into some resemblance of things the body has gone through. Sometime seeing new things as media progresses means being able to get new memories, sometimes it doesn’t. Some don’t even like interacting with their source at all because of source memories, some just see it as “haha loser I never went through that”

Not really? We have 2 (maybe 3-) introjects of someone else’s OCs, so although it can feel.. weird, neither of them are uncomfortable at all. One of them even finds it amusing

That makes sense, but at the same time, it’s not exactly like that? The brain splits alters it thinks it needs for any given reason(s), so an alter can have their life fleshed out like that, or it can be completely different. It’s really weird, the way the brain works. Some of us are really source connected, some only somewhat, and some who aren’t source connected at all. So it really does vary heavily

It’s all good! We actually like talking about it and educating others and sharing our experiences (so long as we’re okay with sharing them)

A - Okay so for octopath, it’s probably pretty obvious that my favorite pairing is Temehika (considering that I’m… one of the only people who draw for that ship here lolol) but I also really like Partikari a lot :p

For Genshin, my OTP is Xiaoven- they have so much hidden lore together and akjbxjjsbkx istg in the height of my genshin phase I would NOT shut up abt them to my irl friends

B - I didn’t initially consider Partikari as a pairing (and was very surprised when I saw how popular it was) but after interacting with the fandom enough I see the vision. They’re cute :D

R - it’s hard to answer for Octopath 2 since literally ANYONE interacting in a cutscene is very akjhxkjhkdkhjc (especially group interactions— I love the 4 person banters so much) but if I reaaaally had to pick then I’d sayyyyy Castti and Hikari. Idk I imagine they’d be very supportive of each other, and I especially love that banter they have together at the end of Castti’s 3rd chapter (somebody give Hikari a medal for being the best friend omg ;-;)

(Side note: They haven’t interacted in canon but omg Venti and Furina NEED to be best friends— SERIOUSLY!! VENTI!!! INVITE HER ASS TO WINDBLUME RN ISTG—)

M - Hmmm this one’s a hard one since I don’t usually like imagining myself interacting with fictional characters or thinking of the possibility of them being real? (Like I’ve read so many angst fics abt them and imagined scenes of them at their worst— it’d be p awkward if they suddenly became real and went “wanna be frens :D”lmao) but putting that aside I wouldn’t mind being friends with Venti. Idk he just has good vibes and in his teapot dialogue you can actually vent to him (he lends you his shoulder 🥺)

As far as I know, he’s the only one who the traveller vents to..? Could be wrong but if it’s true then akxnjkdhjichhjcgyusgyugdc 🥺

V - torn between Hikari and Temenos for this one- I’ve already kinda explained why I find Hikari relatable here (tldr; “I wish I was normal so I don’t have to worry abt accidentally hurting my friends” + having let extremely toxic behavior slide because friendship ig) but as someone who was raised in a religious household, Temenos’s conflicting feelings about his faith are. VERY relatable— It’s the acknowledgement that there are so many judgmental people in the community who claim to be kind and accepting, therefore leading to a lack of trust in those who should be your “neighbors”, yet ultimately still finding it hard to let go because deep down a part of you still believes, it’s just :,D maybe I’ll make a separate post abt this actually bc I don’t talk abt Temenos enough here—

Exactly sdfgfdsg Like there's the moment of short circuiting at seeing *yourself* but also just. I know first hand just how messed up I was and man how do I approach that-

I am. A fan. Of those Venti looks at his own reflection and sometimes it fucking gets him angst I also think that part of the reason Ragnvindr left and their relationship remained tense even if I see them reconciling somewhat is because Venti shares the bard's face and watching the face of someone you know is long gone stay unaging and express hurt is painful.

Sure at this point in the future I do think that Venti has gotten better at dealing with it and understands why Ragnvindr did what he did. But ho b o i seeing it first hand outside of a reflection would probably still throw him for a loop.

Oh also I imagine past Venti to still be in archon robes so that's how present Venti clocked which part of the timeline that one is from so fast. But on the flip side, past Venti might have thought and hoped that it was the bard, if only for a moment. And maybe, just a little bit, they pretended that it was.

Like yeah they won the battle against Decarabian, but they also lost so many loved ones, they have to deal with divinity and a new form, they had to rebuild Mond. They're new to all this too! So the uncertainty of the future was probably terrifying (Dunno if they know all the songs at this point but I feel like that would be another mess of powers to sort out with their newfound godhood tbh) So yeah! Seeing future Mond, and seeing how it appeared to be thriving was a big relief. And so Venti allows themself to relax a little bit, and to tentatively begin to hope.

I really wanted venti to do some kind of comforting gesture and since they're already at windrise and I'm a sucker for how cecilias have been through hard times but many of mond's other specialties have never known that harsh wind So like what if flower symbolism What if Venti gave the anemo archon flowers that love the wind and grow exclusively in areas with a gentle nourishing breeze. What if past Venti got some love and care

I've said it before and I'll say it again "I love you" left me in literal fucking tears I had to put down my phone I will never emotionally recover-

But that aside fun fact! I left the last line a little ambiguous on purpose! There are 3 ways you can interpret it (and they can absolutely co-exist!)

The first way is probably the most obvious. Where it's a direct callback to the line "They say nothing as they drink in the future, but they almost smile." Now finally comforted, past Venti finally smiles and lets themself hope for a better future.

Something you can note for this take is that Venti is referred to as "Barbatos". Before this point in the fic past Venti has been referred to as "the other" in some way. I don't know if it's clear but this is present Venti sort of removing himself from the situation. It's easier to be nice to someone else and all that. Past Venti being finally referred to by name in present Venti's pov? In a way, that's also Venti acknowledging that they are the same, and coming to the realisation that yeah, maybe he deserved more kindness too.

The second is that present Venti is the one smiling, because he's finally figured out what to say to the other, and in the process feels a little bit more at peace with himself. Something something healing your inner child and realising that you deserve to be treated with kindness even by yourself (especially by yourself)

And the last one is basically a combo of the two! Both of them are smiling and "Barbatos" is used as a shared name to refer to them both (cuz it felt a tiny bit confusing to use Venti when that's been used for present Venti specifically in the fic lol)

Venti was at a loss for what to do.

That was…that was him wasn't it? The figure on the floor? The one looking around lost and afraid? That was him, right after the rebellion. And now they were looking right at him.

Venti would like to think that he was good with people, good at reading them and comforting them. Thousands of years of practice will do that. But what does one do with the person in need of comfort is one's past self? 

Archons, I was a wreck back then That was his first thought.

Ah but seeing someone with that face, seeing them so distraught, as an observer…perhaps this is what Ragnvindr had felt. Venti helps the new god up.  And if the other sees something in his expression, they do not comment on it.

Windrise has always brought Venti comfort. Yet somewhere so important to him held no sentiment to the other. It’s strange to think about. Regardless, the elemental energy did help them relax a little, as he had hoped. 

The new god looks to the skies and sees the birds soaring free, watches the flora sway in the gentle breeze. They say nothing as they drink in the future, but they almost smile.

"Does…Does it get better?" 

There's a hesitant hope in the question. One that doesn't expect much in response but can't help but hope anyway. 

"Does it stop hurting?" is left unspoken.

"..." 

For the first time in a long time, Venti does not know what to say.

He thinks back to all that has happened, thinks back to the things that are yet to come for the other. He thinks about the darkness brewing in the present, the songs yet to be sung in the future. He finds his heart hurting for the younger god. Hurting for the pain that will come. And hurting for the pain that has already happened. Strange. He had never spared himself that mercy in the past. What a difference viewing your past self as a separate person makes.

"It will. Eventually." He says, finally. And he hopes that it will too.

"And…it still hurts, sometimes." He admits, not wanting to lie, and watches the other nod. They expected that. His heart breaks a little more.

Venti picks a windwheel aster, carefully tucking it into his younger self's hair. A promise of gentler winds, of peaceful moments in the breeze. "But I promise that it won't always be like this. I promise that it will get easier to deal with in time."

Barbatos smiles.

Like, you know her future demise with her fight with the Traveller and how will the Raiden Shogun will end her! But you are her now! And of course, you don't want to die but you also don't want to invalidate her past, so uh...yeah, you must think of a way to survive!

Oh oh! What would you do in Signora's body when she was tasked to get Venti's gnosis? Will u kicked him too, and insult him to keep the 'original' script intact or is Venti ur fave chara and u cant bring yourself to even kick him in the shin 😭😭 but but u need to get the gnosis for the Tsaritsa!! Its also for Signora's sake but what about what u really want?

On the other hand, talking to Zhongli when he was still Rex Lapis, forging the contract to keep Childe away...man, so many ideas but im too tired to expand it rn xD

Albedo, Xiao, Diluc, Venti (separately) x gn!reader

Albedo

You were supposed to be studying, reading up on Albedo’s next experiment and the traveller was supposed to be here any minute to help out. But, you were far from reading anything with your hands all over Albedo kissing him just the way he liked. Usually Albedo was the one to take the lead during your make out sessions yet, something had come over you today. You wanted to make him melt in your hands, to be so blinded by pleasure that he had no choice but to submit to you. You kissed down his neck slowly to the star that sits between his collarbones, this action always got you whatever you wanted. Before you knew it Albedo was moaning quietly at every touch, kiss, lick, or nip you gave his flawless porcelain skin. Wanting to push him further, you hands made their way towards the problem that had risen in his pants causing his head to fall back and release and uncharacteristically loud moan.

“Y-y/n-” He moaned as you applied pressure with the palm of one hand while the other found it way under his shirt caressing the toned skin that hid from the icy mountain air.

You tsked at him before bringing you lips back to his savoring every moan and whine that feel from his. You released him from the confines of his pants and you swallowed all the sounds he gave you when skin finally met skin. Who would have thought a little bit of kissing would get you exactly what you wanted.

Xiao

The wind swirled around the two of you and the night lingered on, the view from atop the Wangshu Inn was unbeatable. It was obvious why Xiao spent most of his time up here, secluded, quiet, and peaceful. Most nights you and the quiet yaksha sat up here in each others company gazing at the stars, but tonight something had come over the both of you. You both were ravenous for the other tonight, lips locked in a heated make out session. You straddled Xiao’s lap as he rained kisses down your neck and across your collar bones. It was only when your hands found their way into his teal and black hair that Xiao began to get vocal, his hair was his weak spot. Pretty moans and sighs fell from his lips as he stopped his assault on your skin distracted by your movements.

“more-” Xiao moaned sultry and low, so you kissed him deeply distracting him from anything but you.

He moaned deeply while you kissed him muffling the sound to anyone but you and him. You pushed your hips down on his creating friction between you too causing his pants to feel tight as he grew harder beneath you. Diluc

The stoic and professional winery tycoon caged you against the wooden walls of a small closet inside the tavern he owned. The night was still alive with many  patrons drinking to their hearts content, none the wiser of the two hiding in the back. You had been teasing the redhead all night with light touches here and small remarks there, resulting in a heated make out session with you pressed up against the wall. Diluc was easy to rile up and you knew this all too well as you kissed his lips feverishly, seeming to never have enough of him. You hands tangled into his long red locks as you both moved your hands along the others body. With a soft tug Diluc’s head fell back with a deep moan, exposing his neck to you.

“Now, now Diluc, you wouldn't want any of your dear customers to hear what you are doing with me back here right?” You teased lips ghosting over his collarbone before flattening your tongue against his skin and dragging it all the way up to his ear.

Shivers racked his body as he gave a small nod, submitting to you quite easily. The hand that was in his hair moved to cover his soft lips, telling him to keep quiet before you sank to your knees. 

Venti

The Windrise tree was tall and large, surrounding you and Venti entirely. His hands roamed your thighs as you kissed him deeply. He had picked a higher branch than usual today. If the situation you two were in now has anything to show it’s that this was his intention all along. The two of you had been making out for quite sometime when you decided to take it up a notch. You pushed the bard back against the trunk of the tree as you hovered over him one hand came under his chin as he looked up at you wide eyed.

“Hmm, if I didn’t know better I’d say you planned this.” You teased hands snaking up his legs now.

“And why would I do that? You started kissing me if I recall correctly.” He smiled teasing you right back.

With that you kissed him passionately hands moving closer and closer to his lap where you knew you would get the sweetest sounds from him. You hands barley touched him and moans tumbled from his soft lips. You took every moan he gave and swallowed it down, the more you touched him the more he sang.

Xiao

Xiao never understood the importance of time. Days, months, even years feel like nothing when you’re immortal. What a funny thing that is, immortality. He knows normal humans would do anything for it, and he despises them for that. Nothing so great came free, he knew that well. He was freed from tortures, only to get tormented by karma. He could still hear the voices and screams calling for help from tortured souls, these still haunt him daily. But the worst moments come when he sees that figure, that person who he once considered close. So close he could use the human word “soulmate”, if he believed in those, to describe who that person meant to him.

Many centuries back he met you, such a gentle person who got to break down his hard walls. A smile, a touch, a kiss. That’s all it took. So many meaningless years, and he never once encountered a person as kind yet strong like you. Someone who made the daily nightmares cease, with a simple smile and brush of fingers.

He remembers your last words like it was the day before. You were on top of one of the tall stones in Huaguang Stone Forest, Xiao laying his head on your lap and you placing small qingxin flowers on his hair. He wouldn’t allow anyone do that to him ever, but in the end, you were you. And you were different.

“Xiao” you called, once you were done placing the flowers. He opened his eyes and muttered a “hm?” in response. “I have to leave soon. Mondstadt calls me”

He sat up.

“What do you mean?”

“By tomorrow morning, I’ll be on my way back to Mondstadt” you said, quietly standing up.

He stood up too.

“When will I see you again?” he asked, now not being able to look at you.

“I don’t know” you said, reaching out for his hand and taking it. You placed a soft kiss on his knuckles, and he felt himself calm down at the gesture for a moment.

“I meant it when I said I’ll love you forever, Xiao” you said, finally locking eyes with him. You had teary eyes, he dreaded to see you like that. If it were up to him, he would swallow every bit of pain in your body and soul, just to see you smile.

And with that, you disappeared. As quickly as you broke down his walls, you disappeared just as quick the next day. Days, months and years became even more meaningless, but somehow he felt them longer. He missed you every day, he whispered to the moon every night, wishing that some archon would hear and bring you back to him. He knew you were like him, but he never heard from you again. Were you able to finally cross to the other side? He tried to erase those thoughts from his mind.

He later found himself in that very same stone, the one in which he last saw you. New Qingxin flowers blossomed, and they reminded him of you. He sat down, staring at the horizon. But then, he felt a strange swift of wind, and a presence behind him. He quickly stood up, ready to put his mask on and kill whoever dared to interrupt his solitude. But he didn’t. The mask in his hand dropped to the floor, next to the flowers.

“I’m back” you said, with a shy smile.

“You’re back” he said, more to himself than to you. Were you really there?

His question was soon answered, once you stepped closer and pulled him in a hug. He found himself wrapping his arms around you, holding you as close as he could, while trying to hold back his tears.

“I’m sorry I took so long, my beloved” you said as you locked your eyes with his. You grabbed his hand and held it, but you never once let go of the hug.

“I’m here to stay now” you whispered.

Zhongli

“You need to stop playing with people’s hearts” Zhongli said, as he sipped on his tea and looked at you questioningly. You rolled your eyes in response and put your focus back on your potion. A few petals from the most exotic flower in Teyvat, a little bit of juice made from vines and a teaspoon of slime condensate.

“Sometimes mortals need a little push in the right direction” You said, finishing up the mix and transferring it to a small bottle made of glass. “Plus, we’ve been here for centuries, I’m bored and I need a hobby”

“I don’t think that messing with human’s love lives can be considered a hobby. I don’t think it’s morally correct” he said.

“You’re very dramatic. I can feel the true desires of every being that touches the soil in Teyvat, and if I sense that the desire is mutual, I simply work my magic” You said, sitting back on your chair next to the tall man.

“Can’t you let them figure it out by themselves?” He asked.

“That’s no fun Zhongli” You said, finishing up the sweet perfume-potion you were creating.

You and Zhongli have been friends for centuries. You met when you moved to Liyue as the representative of the Dendro Archon, someone you really looked up to. Zhongli was kind enough to make you feel at home, and soon became friends with the Geo Archon. Though you must admit, you always wished it was something more.

Maybe that’s why you picked up this “hobby” of yours. Unrequited love is something painful and mortals only live a short life, you believe they should live it fully, if possible.

“Are you alright?” Zhongli asked, interrupting your thoughts with a concerned look on his face. You didn’t realize you had a sad look on yours.

“Oh? Yeah of course” You said, quickly brushing it off and proceeding decorating the small glass bottle.

“Y/n-“ he started, placing a hand on top of yours in order to get your attention. “I’ve known you for a long time. I know when something is wrong”

It was funny. He knew you like the back of his hand, he knew how to read you since the first time he laid his eyes on you. Yet he never found out how you truly felt about him, how your heart made like a million flips whenever he did something as simple as hold your hand, or brush a hair away from your face. All these little things and gestures, have been making you swoon over your closest friend for years, centuries even.

“Time and love are strange concepts, aren’t they?” You asked, looking straight at him. Here goes nothing, you thought.

“I believe those are rather simple concepts”

“You can spend a lifetime with someone, know every habit and expression but you don’t know how they truly feel about you” You said staring at him, searching for any hint that indicated he knew what you were talking about. But you saw nothing. Who were you kidding? He’s just your friend, has been for a long time.

You let out a defeated laugh, standing up and letting go of his hand. “Forgive me, I don’t really know what i’m saying” you said, grabbing the potion and starting to leave. But you felt his hand on your wrist, stopping your movements.

“You said you felt the desires of every being that stepped foot on Teyvat’s soil, am I right?” he asked, looking at you. You nodded. “Does it work on me?”

“You wanted to get close to me, as a friend”

“My apologies my dearest y/n, but I think your blessing is wrong” he said, standing up and holding your hand once again. “I did want to get closer to you as a friend at first, but not any longer. I’ve been observing mortals for a while as well, on my daily walks through Liyue Harbor, and I think I finally understood my feelings”

You were sure that if Zhongli listened close enough, he would hear the fast beating of your heart.

“I’ve been waiting for you to use your love potion on me, my dear y/n. I’m sure it wouldn’t have worked anyways since I believe it would take a lot of effort to make an effective potion that could work on me. But it would have given me the excuse to tell you how I really feel” he said.

“How do you feel then?” you asked him, looking up at the tall man.

“I think I’m very lucky to have you by my side, and it makes me want to travel to the Dendro nation and personally thank the Archon for assigning you to Liyue. I also want you to still be by my side for the centuries to come, if you’re okay with that” he said, lowering his voice by the end.

You acted before you could process your thoughts. You stood on your tippy toes and kissed his cheek gently, never letting go of his hand. He liked you, he felt the same way about you. It was real.

“I’m okay with that” you replied.

Venti

It was almost noon, almost an hour after the original time you accorded with Venti to meet. You planned a picnic date by the big tree near the statue of the Seven, your favorite spot. The same spot which later, became Venti’s favorite spot as well.

He wasn’t a person who would jump straight to conclusions. You were late. Maybe you fell asleep, maybe you couldn’t find the guitar you promised to bring so you could play a duet. Being late doesn’t mean something bad happened, right?”

He decided to wait a few more moments, but once the sun set, he had enough. He went out to try and find you. He went to your house, but noticed the door was locked and no one was inside. “They left” he thought.

He slowly but surely started to get desperate. Where were you? Were you hurt? Did you get lost somehow? He went to Angel’s Share, and not even Master Diluc had seen you. If Venti wasn’t in such a panicked state, he would have noticed the rare concerned and worried look Diluc had on his face.

If any traveler walked by literally any road in Mondstadt, they would soon encounter a big rush of wind. Venti went from here to there as fast as he could, trying to find you.

He soon enough found you in Stormbearer Mountains, fighting hilichurls and two pyro mages. You looked tired, sweat covering your body and your clothes were dirty. It was obvious that this has been going on for a while. You gripped your sword as hard as you could, and kept fighting. Why didn’t you call for him? With no exception, Venti tells you daily to call for him if you ever encounter a problem. It’s not that he doesn’t think you’re strong, oh no, he believed you were the strongest mortal in Teyvat. But in the end, to him you were still a mortal. Fragile and over-sensitive. He often told you to call his name, that the wind will carry it and he will appear there to help you out. So why didn’t you?

“y/n!” he screamed, once he laid his eyes on you. You turned around and saw a rush on wind, and felt his presence. What you didn’t feel though, was the pyro attack coming from one of the mages. The mage summoned three pyro artifacts that surrounded you, and burnt you. You felt your energy slip away, your head dizzy and your body burning. Then, you felt the cold wind, Venti quickly finishing off the mages and the remaining hilichurls.

Venti thought it was over. You were kneeled down, burnt skin, gasping for air. It was over, you were going to die. He felt his eyes water and fear running through his veins. He wrapped his arms around you, making you lean on his chest.

“Don’t leave me” he begged. “please”

“My dear, I don’t think I can” you said, letting out a short laugh.

“Please stay strong, I think I can carry you to the cathedral but you need to hold very still so-“ he started saying, now fully crying but you interrupted him by putting a hand on his cheek and wiping his tears with your thumb.

“I’m serious, I don’t think I can leave anyways. Venti, I literally can’t die.” you said, with a laugh and slowly standing up.

“You... you’re immortal?” he asked, looking up at you, not being able to leave the floor.

You nodded. “I thought you knew”

“I hate you” he said, standing up and wiping away his tears. “I do”

“No you don’t. But you’re cute though!” you said, grabbing his face and kissing the tip of his nose. “I’m very sorry I’m late though, my commission took longer than I thought but let me compensate you with dinner and a bottle of wine”

“But you’re still burnt?” he asked you, concern still in his face.

“Oh don’t worry about that, it will rip out when I start walking. I have healthy skin underneath” you said, like it was the most normal thing in the world.

“Why do I feel like this is not your first time getting so hurt?” he asked letting out a soft chuckle, suddenly feeling lighter now that he knows you’re okay and will probably be okay for a long long while.

“Eh, been there done that a few times” you simply said, taking his hand and walking back to the city of Mondstadt.

Refuses (tells people you’re his s/o and compromises the mission)

Childe: for some odd reason, he was sent out by the Tsaritsa to retrieve a man who was impersonating one of the eleven harbingers and you were to go along. she said men were much more willing to follow along, if there was a beautiful woman promising affection, etc. the only problem was, to win over the impersonator, you had to pretend to be Childe’s co-worker. he hated this idea, and the minute he left, he reassured you he would not call you his partner unless it was romantically. so hell yeah, he’ll compromise the mission and will return without the impersonator. he does not care, you’re not his co-worker. he’ll just be like, “sorry, next time send me alone.”

Venti: jean why... ofc you'd be great company duh, but why did you need to be his babysitter on this expedition?!? sure, Venti may look like a child, but this was stupid! he’s loose-lipped anyways, so he’ll accidentally let it slip to whoever that you’re not his babysitter and that you’re his s/o. he’ll be like, “oops.” with the biggest shit-eating grin. he doesn’t care though, you’re not his babysitter grrr. 

Razor: he also accidentally lets it slip you’re his s/o. hunters were after him and his friends, you included (you’re human, he considers you family though, therefore wolf) and he just yells, “don’t touch my mate, GRRR” before ya know, ending them lmao. it never crossed his mind that maybe it wasn’t in his/your best interest to say what you were to him. other hunters could be nearby listening and then target you at a later date. but, tbh he will worry about that another day. as long as you’re safe now, he’ll always be there to protect you. 

Refuses (he doesn’t refuse the mission, but he refuses calling you someone other than his s/o/he won’t say if you’re his s/o or not.) 

Kaeya: he definitely won’t be calling you anything other than his s/o but he also won’t offer this mission to anyone else. he’s more than capable and he can do this without you having to be in danger too. if someone asks who you are, he’ll just cooly respond with, “none of your business.” and move on. he’ll use that whenever someone asks who you are. even if someone gets a little pushy, he won’t use anything to clue them of your relationship.

Xingqiu: he was supposed to borrow steal a book from someone. he needed it for personal purposes lol; it would be great for his collection. and from his understanding, the person who has it wasn’t using it. though you were confused on why he needed to break into somewhere to retrieve it. you just happened to be with him when he broke in, he says it was an accident that you were there, but tbh it’s all part of the thrill and his mischievousness. despite Chongyun warning him that he shouldn’t have brought you, he still did. and when the person who owns the book whips out a sword and then asks why you were brought along if you seemed timid and unreluctant to steal, Xingqiu’s response is, “well she’s my girlfriend! duh.” cue deadpan. legit no hesitation.

Scaramouche: this mission is happening no matter what. the Tsaritsa’s life is on the line; highly trained assassins from all over Teyvat were sent into Snezhnayan territory to kill her. she could protect herself, but Scaramouche was feeling feverish for battle; he was one of the more unhinged and dangerous harbingers, she entrusted this task upon him. he never turned down a mission. plus, it’s your fault you’re even here. why are you here again!? he left you home in Inazuma days ago. also... who the hell was looking after your daughter if not you...?? when you caught up with him once he was well away from Liyue Harbor’s docks (so he couldn’t force you to get back onto the ship, smart) you told him you weren’t some housewife and you missed the thrill of adventure, so you snuck on the ship too. he wasn’t sure how you got on in the first place without alerting The Kanjobugyo (you’ve snuck out before, so he’s told them not to let you leave, though he assumed you used your former title of a Fatui to gain clearance) let’s just say he’s not happy you’re here, but he’s not turning back now, he’s determined to end this. in the end, he kills all the assassins (ofc). on your way back to Liyue Harbor, arguing about why you’re here (you’re losing), another assassin comes out of the shadows; intent on killing the both of you. he’d managed to grab the end of your hair in his fist and was going to slit your throat. Scaramouche will say, “don’t touch my wife, you insolent scum.” he doesn’t have a problem telling those who have a death wish of your intimate relationship, because they’ll die in the end anyway; therefore to him, it’d be like they never knew. 

Zhongli: not many people know you’re his s/o anyways, so if he has something to do, especially dangerous you’re not coming along. he’ll make sure of that. on missions or something, he refuses to call you anything other than his s/o, but if he can’t/wants to keep it private he’ll call you by your name. if you’re facing off against someone, he’ll be like, “y/n, please watch out, I’ll handle this.” he never wants to put you in danger, and tbh even someone threatening who knows your name is a risk, but if they ever found out that you were not only his s/o but the s/o of an Archon? yeah, you’d be on a hit list just like him. 

Accepts (he will do this and won’t ask any questions)

Diluc: sorry y’all, but once this is discussed in full and you agree, he’s going to accept it. this mission is important. it’s not often people travel into Inazuma, so he was very lucky his wine is sold there and that he has a popular, well-known name. shipments of his wine weren’t making it into the borders and he was to find the culprit behind it; someone was stealing obviously. you were to go along with a few other soldiers and when jean told him it would be safer to call you his maid and not his fiancé, he agreed. you wouldn’t be a target that way. if anyone wonders why he took his maid, he’ll just say, “she’s to travel everywhere with me.” don’t worry, after the missions over he’ll reassure you he doesn’t think of you as his maid, definitely not. he’ll apologize profusely. “please don’t think of yourself that way, you’re not my maid, I adore you very much, sweetheart.”

Xiao: he already doesn’t go around calling you his wife or telling just anyone, only the Archons know and the fallen Yaksha once knew (you’re one of the female Yaksha) so being talked into this wasn’t a big deal at all. before, he didn’t run around Liyue telling people about your relationship because you both enjoyed the privacy. but now, having to call you his fellow Yaksha who’s been working alongside him for centuries, kinda feels like he’s ignoring or not acknowledging you. sure, you do hold the same titles (Yaksha) and yes you’ve known eachother for centuries, but really, you’ve been together for centuries. if you’re not bothered, then he doesn’t mind. but if you are? he’s very apologetic and will repay you in some way. “you’re not a weakling, you have no reason to worry.” he needs to do this task, he’ll never turn away from the people and if you have to be known as your Yaksha title to him and others, so be it. 

Chongyun: it’s not that he doesn’t want to call you his s/o. it’s just he’s a quiet guy and never has told anyone about your relationship; only Xingqiu knows. so he has no problem introducing you as his friend to absolute strangers, especially if you’re okay with it. if you’re not and tell him, he’ll be sure to never call you a friend again. he’s really looking out for your safety, people can be two-faced as he’s learned from Xingqiu’s fantasy books. he wants to protect and keep you safe, and if you need to be addressed as his friends a few times then that’s how it’s going to go. 

Accepts (he’ll accept but he has so many questions on why and hates it)

Albedo: he will accept if there’s a logical reason. for example, if you absolutely need to come because you’re his assistant or something and can offer your expertise, he will accept. but if you have no need? you’re not coming, please stay home. the whole time, he hates this. yes, you’re his assistant irl, but you’re his s/o, not just an assistant. it makes him sick that he has to call you that tbh, even if it’s your occupation. but it’s necessary for a lot of reasons you two have already discussed. after the mission is complete, he’s never going to stop apologizing. “love, please do not take what I said to heart, you’re not just an assistant.”

Aether: he has to be talked into this a lot. once kaeya and jean tell him the seriousness and importance of seeing his sister again, especially after all they’ve discovered about her, he’ll agree. no matter how much he hates calling you his travel partner, he has to. his sister has turned to the dark side for whatever reason and this meeting already is risky enough. if she finds out you’re his girlfriend, who knows how she’ll react; she’s very unpredictable now, a little unhinged even. but it does hurt to have to call you that, let’s be real. he never wants to say or hear that ever again.

Bennett: he knows he’s quite unfortunate, so you going with him on expeditions is just stupid and you could face something awful due to his bad luck. you go either way though, what a good s/o :) he almost slips a few times, especially facing off against a few lowlife Fatui. but then you remind him of the dangers of doing that and you’re immediately just a friend/member of Benny's Adventure Team. pls, he hates this so much, like why can’t he call you what you are?!? he’s constantly like, “well why can’t I just say you’re my s/o already? they won’t harm you as long as I’m here!” ?!?!?!? HE JUST DID?!?!?!?!

Hello! What do you think about Morax/Rex Lapis/Zhongli? And any thoughts about his relationship with Venti/Barbatos? I really like your Archon!Venti post so I thought I'd throw in an ask :D also feel free to drop Morax lore muahaha

Okay here goes! Also I'm realizing now that I may have gotten a bit ahead of myself with all the Liyue research since the ask doesn't really have to do with a whole lot of specific lore instances- opinions for now. 

Anyway! Let's get onto it! For now I'll be focusing on a combination of Zhongli as a character, and his relationship with Venti!

So we all make the jokes about Zhongli being a grandpa in retirement and I used to be like "lol how funny he's a God, there's no way that that fits." but it actually kind of does.

See the thing with the different archons is genshin that I find really interesting is the fact that each of them portrays the idea of immortality differently- a different take on it if you will, unique in it own right. With Venti, it challenged the way a god is expected to behave in obvious ways. With Zhongli, it appears to challenge the idea of immortality in a way more centered around the idea of learned experience and separation.

See, both him and Venti are "gods amoung men" in the literal sense, but I just can't help but compare them in this sense because let's take a step back. Mondstatdt I'd viewed as a city abandoned by its god, when in reality it's god is right there with them as another civilian. Liyue is viewed a a city guided by it's god, when really, Rex Lapis was mostly absent aside from the rite of descention and the occasion where he would join as a civilian in order to do his incognito thingy- so he never really experience much of human life.

But now let's step back even further to the archon war. Zhongli wasn't all wise and smart back then, he was the god of war- the same guy who would just yeet mountains because he could. No, the brains of the operation came from the guilt assembly, and by that I mean primarily Guizhong, because we stan. Time and time again, Mihoyo has these dead individuals who strongly influence the way that a character acts and behaves and has grown, and for Zhongli, Guizhong is that character.

I'm going to reference a comic I saw one time- but basically it's about Zhongli and Guizhong, and they have a conversation and Guizhong says something along the lines of "if I die you will become wiser and more cunning than I ever could be, and lead Liyue in my stead" and I just think that's a really nifty concept. Because Morax way back when wasn't the smart dignified gentleman seen in the story today, he was metal af and a total impulsive jock type character, to oversimplify.

He has many memories and a lot of knowledge, but I think it was really only after she passes that he came to appreciate that knowledge.

Also I think it'd be really cool if the Guili Assembly fell apart because of a betrayal or something which established his whole contract "wrath of rock" thing- but there's really nothing to indicate that that I'm aware of.

But anyway, disregarding that, Zhongli actually has this whole character development arc of sorts before the story even takes place.

Because with the fall of the Guili assembly, Morax actually starts becoming more involved with the people he rules over, relocating them and teaching them architecture and stuff, which had previously been something that only Guizhong appeared to have done based on recorded history, and it's this whole theme of growing responsibility and an ever expanding favor towards the concept of order as opposed to the chaos and ebb and flow that the God of war seemed to embody before.

And this responsibility continues to grow, guiding both his people and those he takes under his rule into the future until we reach where the story starts now.

However, Rex Lapis is still a very seperate entity from the people of Liyue, and as involved as he is, he still lacks a complete understanding of the mort. What he does understand fully is the potential dangers that Liyue may come to face, hence why he felt his "test" was necessary. A rebellion against Celestia is approaching and to leave Liyue is to draw Celestia's ire. He would have to be sure they were strong enough to defend themselves.

Then of course there's the nice snazzy line in his story about overhearing someone tell a sailor they had finished their duty for the day which inspired his retirement that I think is just really interesting because it shows that he is self aware enough to know when he is no longer needed "the era of the gods is coming to an end" or something. He has become cunning and wise through his time as a God and realizes that one way or another he will be removed as an archon. Better to do that on his own terms than against his will.

So while he has all this big and expansive knowledge and intelligence that he's gained from his many many years of experience, it was really only after Guizhong's death, because of her that he actually came to appreciate it and value this rich store of knowledge that he had.

And while he has all this knowledge and is more active and in tune with the idea and workings of mortal life than, for example, Ei would be, I just think it's really interesting the fact that, despite how long he's been working at it, he's still new to it. See, Zhongli has been living as an archon and has been building habits around that fact for thousands of years; So with Venti we get to see a god who has been living among mortals for an extensive amount of time and has become experienced in it, but with Zhongli we get to see a number of the troubles/difficulties/complications that come along with the translation as well.

It's estimated that for someone to break an old habit, it can take anywhere from 18 days to 254. This is for people, who don't have nearly as long to get used to the habits as an immortal like Zhongli would have. Like shawtie had literal lifetimes to build himself a mindset and behavior pattern around the fact that he can do certain things. Now of course, I'm talking about him forgetting his wallet but I just think it's a really interesting concept. That and the fact that I enjoy finding the serious parts of funny things. It's a bit like when you hurt your hand and forget about it until you try and grab something and are all like "oh shit right I can't do that anymore."

also its really interesting how you can see a lot of Zhongli’s traits and character in a number of the other people throughout Liyue. Like I’m not sure if it’s because of the culture that he helped to sculpt or because of the whole ‘Liyue is a city that has had it’s god at its side sine it was formed’ type beat but i just think its really nifty for whatever reason. 

But yeah, Zhongli believes he has fulfilled his role in Liyue's history and has essentially retired, now joining them to watch the civilization that he has formed unfold.

Anywho, as for his relationship with Venti/Barbatos

i have.... a fair amount of unfortunate realizations to get out of the way first before i can get to the fun stuff.

firstly, in canon its heavily heavily implied that Venti and Zhongli didn’t actually meet until after the archon war. So thats a thing, but if that seems interesting to people i can go over a bunch of hypotheticals for what it might have been if they had, just for shits and giggles.

secondly.... the idea of mountain v. windblade fruit ninja was something that i had actually planned to include from the beginning despite not being anywhere near that part of the post yet.... but upon coming back to tumblr and going back over my notes(which that everything i made because i didn’t remember like anything lol) and checking sources.... i realized that the whole idea of Zhongli throwing mountains at Venti- despite how golden it is- has basically little to nno root in canon. Zhongli mentions throwing mountains as spears and Venti’s lore says when he sliced Mondstadt’s landscape the mountains yeeted off to other locations but that the closest that the canon lore actually ever gets to mentioning or implying that at all. which huge bummer- so much potential. so close but yet so far.

BUT now that that’s out of the way lets get into actually analyzing the canon relationship (for now)

First off- Zhongli is was paranoid as fuck when they first met and i just think that’s so funny because 1) it shows how much he’s changed, and 2) he’s totally in the right in his mindset. 

what basically happened in the canon was that the Archon war had only recently finished and Zhongli is just chilling, governing Liyue and guiding humanity as he had sworn to do as an archon... when the neighboring archon shows up without warning. 

And Zhongli is like “shit, this fellow archon who also swore to guide humanity just abandoned his duty to come to my region, must be serious, better be ready to help with whatever drastic happening warranted this visit” But Zhongli has never met Venti before and has absolutely no prior knowledge or warning to base his predictions on for what the archon might act/be like...

so then this bitch(affectionate) chucks some wine at him and says he was just sight seeing and Zhongli is just... y’know- they’re such contrasting characters in so many ways and i just love it so much- ill get into that later tho

but anyway Zhongli is probably like “well that was weird” but he’s duty-set so he mostly ignores it. Until it keeps happening and Venti keeps bugging him. 

And then the other archons join in. And then it becomes a kind of tradition. And then an event. And then the others start dying. One by one until they are the only two left.

To summarize? They hate each other.... mostly. Whether by nature, by ideals, by character, by personality, or by element, these two are just such opposing forces in so many ways, there's really no way they couldn't.

Also to clarify, whenever I say hate in this context, interpret it automatically to mean hate in a good way.

It's a bit of a self-inflicted external tug-of-war between where both thinks themselves and their own views/way of life to be correct and the others to be absolutely stupid, while also acknowledging that despite being completely unreasonable- the way other carries themselves and prioritizes things and such is simultaneously correct. That's an odd way to phrase it... More like mutually "I accept that you are an idiot for this but this works for you so get it I guess"

Which kudos! Archon solidarity! Except that Venti has a way of making his presence known which tends to get in the way of Zhongli's.... let's go with "steadfast dedication." To start out there is no doubt in my mind that Zhongli most likely outright genuinely despised Venti at first.

So much sacrifice and lives lost over the fight for who would become the archons... And this is who comes out on top? This immature alcoholic who constantly is abandoning his sworn duty of guiding humanity in favor of “sight seeing,” and distracting Morax from his own duty with wine(its good wine tho) and questions and just overall foolish behavior. I find this so funny istg- like please they just got out of a multi-thousand-year long war between gods and shawtie just turns up in a foreign nation - the nation ruled by the ‘god of war’ no less - unannouced as one of the 7 most powerful beings in Teyvat... to deliver wine... and Zhongli is supposed to be able to process this with some semblance of sanity? Zhongli of all people????

And then there’s Venti who doubtlessly sees Zhongli as a stuck up blockheaded old man with a stick up his butt who takes everything too seriously. The war ended and yet this guy is still as serious as ever. It’s dumb and it’s painful to watch him waste the precious peacetime as if it were never there at all(an over exaggeration ofc but basically)

Venti, for whatever god-forsaken reason is really fucking good at bringing people together, and that’s exactly what he did with the 7 original archons. It’s likely something Zhongli acknowledges as otherwise it would just be them in their seven separate nations, never knowing each other by anything more than name and reputation, and never leaving outside of business. It was likely that that made him stop absolutely loathing the guy’s presence. 

It 100% a whole lot of just Venti messing with Zhongli and Zhongli just being massively disappointed...... and throwing mountains. I mean come on, if we cant fit god on god fruit ninja into here than what even can we do? 

and then the archon start dying off(for whatever reason that as much as i want to- i have no idea about) and now in the beginning, even after getting closer I dont think it ever really went past Zhongli being the older-sibling-who-went-to-college-and-has-a-successful-job-now-figure and Venti being the younger-sibling-from-hell-that-you-never-asked-for-nor-wanted-but-has-their-perks-figure. 

But with each archon down, those remaining grew a little closer in solidarity and thus Zhongli and Venti became steadily closer in turn, growing from what i’d call reluctantly endearing comradery to well... the final two left standing. These two are suckers for tradition though so they carry on with the meetings, and as hard as both parties may try to maintain the atmosphere the gathering once had when all seven were there...

Counter to the original intentions, it gradually becomes more solemn over time with each time they meet, but meet they do without fail. They meet to drink, to talk, to mourn, to plan, to just be- to exist in familiar company in the knowledge that there is another, that they are not the last living soul who shares the burden of what they have been through and what they have sworn. Old friends sharing drinks they’ve had a thousand times and tales they’ve heard hundreds, some old, some new, but over time it blurs.  And through it all persists the knowledge- the ever-present reminder that there cannot be two forever. For nothing gold can stay and just as seven faded away to two, so too will two fade to one, and any further meetings will be held in solitude or not at all. 

And fade it did, leaving behind only one. 

“Nor would the wind ever return again.”

because idk, apparently Venti likes taking long ass naps without warning. And then when he woke up there was the Stormterror business so he didn’t exactly have time then. 

And with the stress on erosion seen in Zhongli’s quests i cant help but wonder if at times during the extensive period of Venti’s disappearance, Zhongli truly did believe himself to be the last one left.

okay so for a very long time I've considered myself aroace and I still think that to be true, like I've never felt attracted to someone before (I actually forget romance and sexuality exist at all most of the time) BUT I've been curious for a few months about what it would be like to have sex.

Now the thing is is that first, I am trans (trans masc nonbinary), second I live in a conservative area, third I'm living stealth rn for safety, and fourth I have previous trauma from CSA and low/no contact CSA exploitation that makes me feel SUPER SUPER uncomfortable about being naked around people and uncomfortable around other people who are naked. Also I have big trust issues.

So if I wanted to have sex, I'd have to find someone that isn't queerphobic, find someone that is willing to be partnered with me, find someone that I can trust enough to be with, and somehow get over my own disgust of naked human bodies (which is a ME thing. Nothing to do with other people, it's just a weird me thing -_-).

I mean like it's a small thing I think about every once-in-a-while but it's not a huge deal? but I'm curious ya know, like a lot of people around my age (19-22) act really sex-focused and idk how to relate to that at all. Like ??? Also I worry about stds and all that stuff.

Like idk do people go to a bar and ask someone? if I went out and got drunk would that work? like that's super irresponsible and idk if I'd be able to do that but I'm curious. What's the big deal? Thank you for reaching out and sharing and I’d like to start by saying how sorry I am for your trauma history as well as trying to navigate some complexities between gender identity and sexuality in a cultural climate that doesn’t often allow room for exploration of either, much less both.  

I think it can unfortunately be easy to generalize how people might react, and/or behave, and forget the individuality to be found anywhere and everywhere - it’s understandable and valid to worry “am I the only one who feels this way?” - but it’s a lie.  There are so many people out there who are looking for the things you’re looking for, too.  

To me, and I apologize if I have managed to misread this, but unpacking some of the things you’ve shared, it sounds like there might be conflating sexual orientation with sexual activity.  They are two distinct things and though of course can overlap, don’t cancel each other out.  An aspec person is still aspec regardless of sexual activity.  Though at the end of the day, only you get to decide what - if any - your labels are, and the boundaries around what and much you share with any intimate partners in the future.  If you consider yourself aspec today, then explore your sexual orientation further and realize another label actually speaks more to you, then all that happened was you’ve discovered more of who you are: and that’s a beautiful thing.  

As for how you might go about exploring that sexual activity, I think the first step to consider is: “what are your boundaries?”  I had the opportunity to answer a similar question about pursuing experiences/relationships, which might be a helpful addition - though it sounds to me like you know what you’re looking for, it’s more about how to explore that in a way that feels comfortable for you?

Is there a possibility - if you are seeking to explore intimacy for the first time, but with a bit of distance and the ability to decline, and leave when you feel you need to - a virtual connection?  Something where you could engage in non-penetrative sexual intimacies within a comfortable environment?  There are several online communities that might feel safer to explore as you navigate your own boundaries, and could connect via a camera?  That way if you realize it’s not for you, you have the power to turn it off and curate your online experiences moving forward? Of course, if that doesn’t sound appealing please don’t think you even have to consider that, I just wanted to offer a potential since it sounded like there was some concerns when it came to in person contact. Scenario: You've been in a relationship with Diluc for about a year now. Deciding to take matters into the next level, you decided to propose to him, only to forget buying a ring.

A/N: AAAAAAAAAAAA NO WORDS CAN DESCRIBE HOW MUCH I WAITED TO FINISH THIS. Maybe because the idea was born during my exams and I didn't have the chance to write them. But now that I do... I will. Also, I was supposed to add Venti into this but, I got lazy LOL. 

He's a busy man, and you knew that even before you two started your relationship. It was tiresome to maintain connections all around Tevyat, as well as sending packages of the best selling Dandelion Wine. Other than that, paperwork was another thing, and it sure does drain energy.

Upon entering the relationship, it was almost impossible for you to stop him from overworking himself, though, he slowly learned to slow down at times for your sake.

He schedules a few date nights with you, in which you two do nothing except cuddle on the couch whilst discussing about how both of your days went. But those moments are rare cause then again, he is a busy man.

Though this night, you wanted to give him a little break from his responsibilities. You wanted to spend time with him and tell him how much you missed him while he was doing his duties, both as the Darknight Hero and the owner of Dawn Winery.

But aside from that, you also wanted to tell him on how you wanted to progress your relationship. You wanted to deepen the commitment and the bond between the both of you.

So, guess what? You were planning for to propose on a date.

Your excitement made you look like some sort of giddy schoolgirl. So much, in fact, it made you forget the most important thing. The ring.

Slowly, after saying that, he pulled out a velvet box out of his pocket, which contained the token of your love for each other. A glittering diamond ring.

You were so happy that tears of joy started to roll of your cheeks.

Replying "yes" with a shaky breath, he slid the ring on your finger and it shone like that of the stars.

“No. Of course not.” Childe furrowed his brows and with a frown of his face, shaking his face as if the question Scaramouche just asked him was the most absurd thig he has ever heard.

But then, why couldn’t he just simply answer the question? Why typing those two letters was making his heart beat and hands sweat - and not in the good way. Something deep inside him paralyzed him completely just thinking about sending the word.

“Am I-” He cut himself off before he could voice the rest of his sentence. It was foolish. How could he even think that way? They both agreed, all those months back, that it would be purely physical. It was obvious they were attracted to each other. Just catching each other mid-stare or bluntly flirting whenever they were in the same room. So when, one night, they drank too much wine in Diluc’s bar - much to Diluc’s dismay, it wasn't even surprising when they ended up in Kaeya’s bedroom and had sex. What was surprising was how natural and how good it felt. Childe was sure he was the only one feeling like this but then the next morning he woke up with Kaeya by his side and it actually scared him how right everything that happed seemed to him. And then Kaeya said he basically felt the same and proposed the no strings attached kinda relationship. 

It was perfect.

Neither him nor Kaeya really wanted a relationship. And the sex was so good Childe would be insane to say no to that handsome face. So he agreed of course. And it was incredible. But nothing stays the same and even though the changes weren’t bad he never really thought about how their dynamic changed in just a few months.

At first it was just purely sexual. They’d fuck, tease, joke around and nothing more but then, somehow, depending where they met, they would linger in bed together. Sometimes not saying anything and sometimes talking literally for hours. And then they they were touching more. Not the same touch when they were in the middle of having sex, more casual, natural for them - a little slap or squeeze of the butt, a hand on the thigh in a teasing manner, knees touching when they were sitting close. And after that they were suddenly hugging like it was the most normal thing for them. No matter if they’re in the middle of the street or with friends or if it’s just the two of them. It all just... happened. And now they were calling each other pet names more often than their own names, kissing while walking through the city, holding hands any time it was possible. Sometimes Childe would even feel cold when Kaeya had to let go of his hand for a minute.

What surprised him the most, almost knocking all the air out of him when he realised it was how now most of the time they weren’t even having sex when they were together. And it wasn’t a problem. In fact, it was the opposite. They were having so much fun together doing anything. Childe was so happy just hanging out with Kaeya...

It was ridiculous.

And every single one of their friends was teasing them about how much they look and behave like a married couple and for the love of everything holy they both would blush every time before teasing each other about it.

Childe had to sit down because he didn’t trust his own legs to keep him standing anymore. All of those feelings and realizations just burying him under their weight. He could feel the wooden door of someone’s home on his back and without thinking just slid down to the ground. It was so much to process, so many overwhelming emotions.

How could he be so stupid? So blind to his own feeling for all this time? Of course everything his friends were saying about him was true. Even a child would be able to figure it out. So why? Why? Why did it took him this long-

“Childe?” A familiar voice pulled him out of his own head. “You okay?” Lumine was crouching in front of him, visibly worried.

He completely forgot she was travelling to Liyue with Diluc. And Childe figured out Diluc was probably already with Zhongli seeing as Lumine was alone here. Even Paimon wasn’t with her right now.

Ah. Lumine. The same Lumine he fought. The same Lumine he loved to jokingly flirt with sometimes, to get under her skin. The same Lumine who might be in love with Kaeya. The same Lumine who might take Kaeya away from him.

He knew he shouldn’t think like that. She always seemed to support both of them and whatever they had going on between them. But he couldn’t help the sudden jealousy. It was reasonable for Kaeya and Lumine to have a good relationship. She met him earlier and if Childe was honest with himself it was thanks to her he even met Kaeya so if anything he should be grateful.

“Childe?” She asked again, after he groaned in realization. Probably worrying her even more. 

“I’m in love with Kaeya.” He suddenly said before he even had the chance to think about it. His hand covered his mouth right away, his eyes widened in surprise.

“Well. Congratulations.” Lumine laughed cheerfully. “Took you long enough.” She wasn’t even trying to hide how funny the situation was for her.

Playing Genshin for a couple of weeks now and I have some thoughts about Mondstadt, its seeming prosperity, and criminal elements!! Also dunking on Diluc a little bit lol. I'm not even going to touch hilichurls, they're probably the one issue I expect the game to come back to in time! They seem to be an intelligent race that was cursed and so we might get some sad backstory and realize that we've been assholes to them, not 100% sure but hopefully. Other than hilichurls and the Fatui (and yeahhh so fun to make russians into villains, im guessing it's for attracting the american audience or something... at least the characters are interesting enough), there are also Treasure Hoarders, who in the archive are mainly described as workers who lost their jobs or some other manner of poor people who turned to looting and crime out of desperation. And yet the angle is that 'thieving is always morally wrong'. Somebody didn't read Les Mis, I guess! Another note, there seems to be a weird gameplay and story segregation where we as the Traveler do lots of looting and treasure hunting ourselves only to be commended for it. But I digress. My actual point is that interestingly enough those elements of worldbuilding come together pretty well when you look at the city itself!   In Mondstadt it is most difficult to become a small business owner, made all the more obvious when compared to Liyue's wealth of shops, services, and traveling traders (Liyue has its own baggage of problems which tbh seem more serious to me but that's another topic). It's just not the most profitable occupation! Almost everyone we see out on the streets does their own resource supply, production, and service. Naturally, this means that those people don't earn enough to hire their own workers. In turn, that means that there are no jobs to be found in those places. So, where are all the jobs? For that we have the Dawn Winery, the Knights of Favonius, and the option to leave for Springvale to become a hunter or go to a different country altogether. The winery is described as the city's most powerful industry both for local consumption and export, but how does it actually treat its workers? Well, for example there's Patton who accidentally broke a bottle of expensive wine and is now basically an indentured servant to Diluc. He says that even if he worked without any breaks he still would need 48 years to pay off his debt. We can meet his daughter near Venti's statue who has to play by herself because her father is always working. Does that really seem like freedom to you? There's also Guy's father who works at the winery itself and can't afford to rest even when he is heavily sick and old. These are the worst examples for sure but others also have their own smaller problems like Charles who confides in us that he often feels tired and only takes nights off when Diluc is in a mood to tend the bar himself etc.  It is kind of telling that we don't have the option of engaging with their problems and we can't really talk to Diluc about it either. For all that he defends the city each night, he shows no interest in defending his own workers from his business's predatory tactics. To say nothing of the great damage he does to the adult populace of the city, always supplying alcohol and tempting people with deals and sales when there are already too many drunkards even among the named characters. When the opposing tavern (which also only has Diona for a bartender even when her own father has alcohol dependence) chose to present a non-alcoholic beverage during the holiday Angel’s Share doubled down on alcohol. And it doesn't even have snacks? This one bit was probably just for joke purposes, but tbh it's pretty dangerous to drink without any snacks at all, it makes sense why people get so heavily drunk in the first place. Note that Diluc himself doesn’t drink, showing good judgment when it comes to himself. Meanwhile the only person Diluc seemingly has no problem cutting off is Kaeya and it’s not obvious whether that’s out of concern or pettiness. Nobody is cutting off Nimrod who is ruined by his addiction! Now this is probably the core reason why Nimrod turned to crime, and I wouldn’t be surprised to learn that he and his wife are dependant on Kaeya who at the very least knows to appreciate his informants. Kaeya himself is also a gleeful enabler, by the way, which makes sense considering his uh.. everything. And his upbringing at the Dawn Winery didn’t hurt, no surprise why he’s so keen on wine himself. He might be shrewd and oh so clever when it comes to getting information in taverns, but his story details and voice lines confirm that there actually is a problem even if we don’t know the full scope of it.  Now, the Knights of Favonius? Aside from being corrupt in the past they happen to hire minors (we can read that in their handbook) whom they don't even pay. What's that, free labor for the simplest of tasks? Makes sense why some of the adult knights laze about if all the work gets done by minors or the more focused and accomplished senior knights with Visions. That's a wonky structure for sure. Guy tells us that he became a squire at 16 and still has the boring job of guarding the back gates despite repeatedly showing signs of great dissatisfaction. I wouldn't be surprised if he betrays us later or something, honestly. Maybe Kaeya is preparing him for double agent work, who knows. Right now he has no opportunities for climbing the career ladder to take better care of his sick father, stuck in a pointless job for months. And that's a talented and focused young man! what about regular folk? Well. In the end, regular people have several options. They can give up and overwork themselves while spending nights looking for coins in the wishing fountain to try and scrape enough for their sister’s medicine. They can go to the Adventurers' Guild which has highly dangerous commissions with the most profitable ones taken on by Fischl and other professionals, hardly a dependant job for a regular person. There’s also Church which we know very little about. Likely it's dependant on taxes and donations and it’s the one organization that cares about the orphans of the city (no, keeping Klee in solitary doesn’t count as caring, Knights of Favonius!). There’s Springvale for hunters, farmers and chefs, a difficult lifestyle to maintain when the hunting grounds are in one of the Four Winds’ domains with strangely intelligent wolves.  And then there’s the other more accessible and obvious option! You guessed it, it’s crime!!  And there it is, the reason why there's such a big problem with bandits and overworked people in Mondstadt :)  Honestly after writing all that down, if I were to RP a normal person in Mondstadt I’d try to get into the Treasure Hoarders guild at like 5 years old I think. Better than standing around watching random people kill my pigeons anyway. Tbh this is less of a 'makes you think huh!!' take and more of a commendation towards the writers of the game. They obviously have a more conservative outlook if they're so keen on condemning the thieves who have to steal in order to survive, but the world itself makes a lot of sense. It makes the game a lot of fun to explore.

In this group: Fischl, Ganyu, Gorou, and Hu tao

Fischl

Ah yes

The only 4 star I don't have

And I know almost nothing about her

Most of these are gonna be based on what little I know, what I've read, and what kind of vibe I get so bear with me

I don't think Fischl would be allowed to bring Oz, and even if she is I feel like she might do it without him to make things fair for the people she's playing with

She's in the intelligence department thing in the adventurers guild, so she's clearly really smart

Meaning

She's really good at windtrace

Because you've gotta have smarts to be good

She's probably equally good at being both Hunter and Rebel, of anything slightly better as a Rebel

As a Hunter, she puts in perspective who her targets are and where they may hide in order to find them

For example, if she's looking for Barbara, she might want to look where there's a lot of the same thing in one spot

Or if she was looking for Razor, around some bushes or behind a rock

I think she's definitely the kind of person to use teasing against the Rebels

But like in her really sophisticated way of talking, which somehow makes it so much worse

Rip Bennett

As a rebel, she chooses her hiding spot carefully and makes good use of her power-ups

A fan of the bait skill, she loves setting it down and watching from afar as it bursts in front of the Hunter

The people she likes playing with most are Razor and Bennett (ofc), Mona, Amber, Barbara, and The Travelers!

She plays with Razor and Bennett the most though

It's really fun playing with her

Her first game was with Lumine, Venti, and Xiao, Xiao as the Hunter

She was a little confused with the rules, but managed to hide from Xiao for around a minute

She's lowkey impressed with Lumine and aspires to be as good as her at this

She's pretty decent a both positions, but might be a better Hunter lol

As a Hunter, she definitely tried everything she can to do her job as the Hunter

Sometimes takes it really seriously lmfao

Straight sprinting after you the split second she sees you, she wants to win

And get better

I feel like she would only really use teasing if it were someone she was absolutely sure would get flustered

Examples include: Aether, Chongyun, Xiao, Possibly Yanfei, Possibly Keqing

She still doesn't know whether it would work on Shenhe, she dosen't know her well enough yet (but it would affect her to some degree hehe)

She wouldn't dare use teasing against people who could or might (and some of them have) use it against her as well lmao

Examples include: Zhongli, Ningguang, Beidou, Xingqiu (she don't know that it would work), Xinyan (same as Xingqiu), and Xiangling (same and Xingqiu and Xinyan)

As a rebel, she's pretty decent as well!

Tries to be as clever as possible with where she hides and which disguises she uses

If she's really confident in her spot, she'll stay there the whole round

But she has a hard time making sure she dosen't make any sounds

Whether it be slightly heavy breathing, soft giggling due to being teased, or straight squealing and sprinting away once the Hunter knows where

Xiao has done that to her too many times

Like, once he realizes where she is, he's fucking bolting

And Ganyu literally screams

I mean who can blame her HAVE YOU SEEN THIS GUYS ELEMENTAL SKILL

Xiao finds it hilarious but he won't admit that

Even though he makes it obvious

Ganyu gets so fucking pissed (not really) lmfao

Her favorite people to play with are Xiao, Keqing, Zhongli, Yanfei, Ningguang, Xiangling, Chongyun, Shenhe, and the Travelers

She also dosen't mind Venti, even though that bitch can be crueler than Xiao

She's played the most games with Keqing, Xiao, and Lumine though

Keqing because they're besties, Xiao because they became besties, and Lumine because she's trying to fucking learn (also because they too became besties)

Wrecks Keqing and Xiao a lot lmfao

And gets wrecked by them too

First game was with Lumine, Kazuha, Thoma, and himself, with Lumine as the Hunter

Gorou didn't know shit what to do at first lmao

Neither did Kazuha

Thoma knew what to do, he was just bad

So yeah Lumine caught them all pretty quickly

Their second round had Thoma as the Hunter, who was still beyond excited to be playing windtrace again

So yeah Gorou was the only one caught that round

Kazuha probably would have been caught too if not for his naturally better speed due to his anemo vision

At that point Gorou just asked Lumine "HOW."

So Lumine being the great person she is ofc gave him her advice on being a good Rebel

Lumine isn't the best (Sayu is), but she's still good so Gorou trusted her

After playing more rounds and getting good, Gorou learned he was a better Hunter than Rebel, although he can be both parts decently well

As a Hunter, I don't know if it's the dog in him or the general, but he's got this really good instinct on where people could be

Like he could just tell

Yun Jin can do that too, but we'll talk about her when we get there

Honestly probably giggles as he's running to catch or find someone

Because he's just having a good time you know

So yeah he's good!

But no one can catch Sayu

So he's still good

Would he tease? Maybe, if he thinks the other person would react

So he'd probably tease Kazuha and Aether most lol

As a rebel, he picks his hiding spots carefully and goes for what would conceal him best

Because of the war and everything, he's probably pretty agile so he can get to high places for an advantage

So he's also pretty good at this!

One thing though, that I saw on @danibby 's blog before,

Imagine Gorou in a disguise, and his tail is wrapped around his midriff to not take up too much space, but then it twitches

Which tickles

And Gorou is most definitely ticklish

So then he jerks away from whichever side it came from, only for it to twitch again and slowly happen more often

He just fucking self destructs

The Hunter, whoever they might be, finds this fucking hilarious

Gorou gets embarrassed tho

But a good kind of embarrassed if that makes sense

Teasing works so well on him omg

He'll do everything in his power not to make a noise but I assure you, his face will be bright red

Especially if it's Yae miko, she's brutal

His favorite people to play with are Travelers, Kazuha, Thoma, Itto, Sara, Beidou, and Yoimiya

And he really likes playing with Amber when he meets her

Even though she usually wins, he feels like he could definitely learn something from her

Also Sara being up there might be confusing, but pls I love how I'm their voice lines about each other, even though on opposing sides, they have a lot of respect for each other and even want to fight alongside each other one day

And then they're absolute goofs once they start playing

She will tease you to no ends

And when she finds you, your gonna get destroyed

Literally no matter who you are, she will wreck you

A young chef in a famous restaurant? Wrecked. A trained exorcist with an abundance of Yang energy? Wrecked. An actress who puts on opera performances and is wildly known around Liyue? Wrecked. The Yuheng of the Liyue Qixing? Wrecked. The fucking Tianqian? Wrecked. A fatui harbinger? Wrecked. A strong disciple of the adepti kicking ass since she was 6? Wrecked. When she's about to be discovered, she likes to pop out and scare the Hunter

She's actually a lot like Itto omg-

If she gets caught, she'll be super pretend-dramatic about it

If the person is Beidou or Zhongli, she's getting tickled for it lmfao

I genuinely don't think I can make a favorite people to play with list, she love playing with pretty much everyone

If I had to chose the TOP TOP people, it would be Zhongli, Xiao, and Yanfei

Pls she would wreck them all to no end you can't tell me she wouldn't

But yes in conclusion Hu tao is really playful and super fun to play with hehe
