being idol!xiao's girlfriend means you have unlimited and pre-release access to all his merchandise, fan event tickets, and even allowed backstage during concerts by his management.
but you're his biggest fan, his number one fan girl, and, in xiaotwt terms, his most delulu girlfriend stan. which tingles xiao's brain because... you are his girlfriend? why do you have be crazy over him on the internet when you can literally smother him in your lovely kisses all day?
as much as you're internally cocky with the fact that you're the luckiest fan out there, you can't just upload on twitter a photo of him in your arms. now, that would be a chaotic mess for the management, potentially posing a threat to his career, and ultimately, endangering your privacy.
(but at least your private instagram is a safe space for showing off your boyfriend, xiao.)
what idol!xiao finds the most absurd (and adorable) is when he's able to send you selfies and candid shots during his practices, recordings, or any related agendas in his work that don't end up in the photocard or merchandise lineup; but, you're still fighting for your life on buy and sell twt to get one limited edition xiao photocard on his third anniversary as an artist or you're waiting in a long ass line to purchase merchandise from an accredited store nearby your place.
even the management has seen you a few times blending in with idol!xiao's sea of fans, they also wonder why you don't take advantage of the convenience and access to almost everything when you're already a trusted friend and a very supportive girlfriend of their favorite artist.
in your defense, it's part of the fan girl experience.
"how much did you pay for that?"
but sometimes, your impulse comes first before your superego even gets to neutralize your decision.
"uh about like... a few dollars?"
"my love, it's expensive and i believe that's overpriced."
"but it's limited edition!"
"you literally date the real thing."

wc, 500. talks a lot x listens trope, but with xiao.
Xiao dislikes wasting time.
There are a million reasons why he doesn’t indulge in small talk. Get to the point, he urges, tell me what you want. For their sake, but there’s also that he’d rather not involve himself in anyone else’s affairs.
But he could listen to you talk for hours. Days, years. You could hold him down, trap him in your arms—and he can break free any time, and he would, had it been anyone else, but he finds that he doesn’t want to right now.
“Xiao,” you say. Your breath hits his face. He feels warmth creep to his cheeks, and he’s already thinking about using your “unbearable” proximity as an excuse. “Xiao… Listen, you know how two weeks ago I made you that plate of Almond Tofu?”
Xiao hums, willing himself to make his gaze less soft, to something more intimidating. But you’re undeterred, grinning at him and skirting around why you’ve pinned him against the wall and completely disrespected his bubble of space. Not that he minds, anyway. He finds that he doesn’t mind a lot of things when you do it.
You’d been terribly occupied yesterday. You didn’t call Xiao’s name once—and usually, you’d be calling for him all the time, doing it to provoke a reaction out of him, but if Xiao really hated it, he would’ve stopped appearing eventually. He always appears, be it when you’re on the brink of death, or you want him to pick what you’d have for dinner that day.
Now, he’s willingly helpless as you talk and talk and he listens.
“And you hated the Almond Tofu I made, do you remember that? You made a face. All scrunched up—and it was cute, actually. That was a really funny face you made, I wish I had my Kamera with me at the time.”
Xiao wilts, still embarrassed you caught onto his visceral reaction. He doesn’t mean to offend you, even if right now it seems you’re taking it all in stride. “It was just different.”
You laugh brightly, like Xiao’s looking right at the sun, and he’s the moon chasing after your endless warmth. “No need to protect my pride. It made me want to do better. So, yesterday, I practiced all day to perfect it. I had all the chefs I know taste it, and they said I’ve gotten better this time!”
Xiao’s face burns. He squints to keep his eyes from blowing too wide. “You were… practicing.”
“For you.”
“For me,” he echoes.
“…Do you want to try it?”
“Tell me about the events that transpired yesterday as I eat it,” Xiao demands, shifting to free himself from your arms, entirely missing the surprise that washes over your expression. He turns and finds you frozen in the same spot. “Well?”
Your gaze snaps back to him, beaming. “Well, if you missed me talking your ear off and wasting your time, then gladly.”
It’s not wasting time if it’s time spent with you, is what Xiao keeps to himself.

“Do you…” Xiao starts, sighing, “…do you really have to call my name for this?”
The two of you sit on one of the branches of the humongous tree where Wangshu Inn has laid its foundation. Xiao makes sure to have one of his hands to guard you from falling. Meanwhile, in a more relaxed manner, your hands remain tangled tidily amongst his tresses, braiding the front part of his hair whilst you sit beside him.
You watch Xiao’s face and gestures for a moment. Upon noticing him still leaning towards you with a slight redness staying on his ears, you beam, “Of course! You are not busy at the moment with your duty, are you, Lord Adeptus?”
Xiao looks like he wants to lie to you for a moment. However, it seems to be impossible—you note with triumphant fondness as that expression switches into one that is mixed with embarrassment and defeat. As childish as it is, you too like that part of him that undoubtedly spoils you a bit too much. It makes you want to spoil him even more.
“I am not,” Xiao admits. Then quickly adding, “Also, you... don’t call me that.”
You hum back, “It’s your title though?”
A few strands of his hair follow the gentle sway of the wind, escaping your fingers for a moment. Easily enough, fortunately, you manage to gather them once again. Through all of this, Xiao still hasn’t met your eyes again.
“It’s odd hearing it from you. Especially, considering we are…” he trails off, the hue of red spreading into his cheeks.
You let him take his time, awaiting the ending of that statement. Yet, as moments pass and he remains silent, you finally supply, “…lovers?”
It is a rhetorical question that rests at the end of your voice and Xiao certainly understands it more than anyone in the whole land of Teyvat. Once again, somehow, his face reddened even more.
But, despite everything, his hand that places itself on the small of your back shifts. Sighing and finally looking at you with a many meaning written in his gaze, Xiao says, “That.”
You let out a small laugh at that. “Then, that means you should do your duty as my lover and let me be lovey-dovey towards you.”
Xiao soon looks like he is chewing on his favorite almond tofu that tastes too sweet and too pleasant. “Will saying ‘no’ to you even do a thing?”
“Want to try?”
“…no. Do as you like.”
notes: blurbed this out quickly because i miss this green guy a lot. the front part of his hair seems very braid-able and he is pretty. then my brain turns off and "xiao pweety". to @doobea thank u for betaing as usual muahhh.

imagine having a little concert with friend!xiao
smut. afab reader, fingering, tit play, body worship, handjob, reader hates her boobs, public(?) sex, maybe friends with benefit ?? idk. not proofread.
so i ditched kabukimono's fic and decided to make xiao's 🥱🥱
as an indoor person, concerts sure could be exhausting and weary. you let your legs dragged you wherever they wanted without a thought until they reached in front of a quiet classroom. but we what you didn't expect was to see xiao with a guitar on his lap once you slid the door open. "tired already? let me sing for you and have our own concert instead." he smirked while saying.
"xiao!" you beamed happily as you jumped into his embrace, feeling the exhaustion slowly leaving your body. you two grew up together and to say that you were close was an understatement. sometimes, you'd even kissed each other, or daily. of course, as friends. you didn't know and remember how it started, it just happened naturally. your lips, your soft lips that reserved only for him. a light kiss was placed on his lips, your cheeks turning pink by seconds, your lips lingering there longer than they should as you said, "please do." your eyes were fluttered close and there was this cute smile on your face, a smile that only appeared when he's around. even if you had thousands of friends, he's the only one that could make you smile this big.
as soon as you touched your lips to his, xiao's eyes widened slightly in surprise before melting into a warm, affectionate smile. he wrapped his arms around you, pulling you closer as he returned your soft kiss with a deeper one, his tongue slipping past your lips to dance with yours. his free hand came up to cradle the back of your head and his fingers threaded through your hair gently "mmm... welcome home, y/n," he murmured against your lips, voice low and husky. breaking the kiss after a moment, he rested his forehead against yours, gazing into your eyes with tender adoration. "i've missed you so much."
kisses on the lips were nothing out of the ordinary for the two of you, although they felt a lot more exciting than a kiss on the cheek. this time, a shy and flustered smile formed on your adorable face as your noses touched, your hands cupping his face," i've missed you too, xiao. i've missed you, your painfully handsome face, and i've missed your voice." your eyes finally opened again, landing on his alluring ones. that cute smile of yours always worked like magic for him, causing his heart to race faster.
his chest swelled with pride at your compliment, a pleased smirk curling his lips as he leaned in to capture another kiss, slower and deeper this time. his fingers tightened in your hair as he savored the taste of you, tongue stroking along yours languidly. "you're not so bad yourself, beauty," he teased between kisses, his free hand sliding down to grip your ass firmly before giving it a gentle squeeze. the hard length of his arousal pressed insistently against your hip, betraying his growing desire. "and i've definitely missed those lips on mine."
xiao broke away to trail open-mouthed kisses along your jawline and down the side of your neck, inhaling your scent deeply. his breath hitched as he nipped at your sensitive skin causing you to giggle. your hand gently ran through his hair as you tilted your head, "what do you mean by that? i thought we just kissed this morning?" having a kiss with him meaning that when you gave him a kiss, even if it was just a peck, he would always make sure to kiss you back. the same went for you, if he ever kisses you, even if it an open-mouthed kiss, you would always make sure to kiss him back, even if it flustered you.
xiao loved the little game you both had to play when it came to kisses. it was like a secret language that only the two of you knew, a language full of affection and intimacy. he loved how your lips always found their way to his, and how his own lips yearned for yours in return. xiao loved the way you would always make sure to return the affection he gave you. the way you would playfully steal a kiss whenever you can. the way you're always so eager to receive his attention, his touch.
with a chuckle, he pulled back slightly to look into your eyes, his own sparkling with mischief. "well, i guess that means i've been missing those kisses for half the day already." he teased, leaning in once more to claim your mouth in another heated kiss in which you couldn't help but moan lowly. his hands roamed over your body, tracing the curves and contours of your form as he explored every inch of you and eventually, his fingers slipped beneath the hem of your shirt, grazing the smooth skin of your abdomen before dipping lower to tease at the waistband of your skirt.
"and who knows what else I've been craving for..." he whispered against your lips, his voice dropping to a seductive murmur as he began to undo the buttons of your shirt, revealing the sight of your black bra which he's so familiar with to his hungry gaze. you were left breathless once he pulled away and you glanced at your upper half now almost naked, "i thought you were going to sing for me..? what happened to our little concert?" with a timid smile, you brought his face closer to your perky boobs, pressing his face against them as you hugged his head.
he muffled a groan as you continued to smush his face against your ample bosom, his lips brushing over the swell of your breasts accidentally. "mm, i did want to serenade you," he mumbled, nuzzling into your cleavage and inhaling your sweet scent. "but I think i'd rather worship these gorgeous tits, we can make this as our own little concert instead." pushing your shirt off and unhooking your bra, he dipped his head to take one stiff nipple into his hot mouth, suckling greedily as his hand kneaded and squeezed the other mound. he licked and nibbled at the sensitive peak until it glistened with saliva, then switched to its twin, lavishing it with the same devoted attention. "I fucking love your perfect tits, y/n." he growled appreciatively, his voice vibrating against your skin.
some times ago, you had confessed to him that you hated your boobs because they made you insecure, but xiao insisted that they were gorgeous and perfect for you. seeing you didn't believe him, he showed you how gorgeous your boobs were and how much he loved them by kissing and sucking your tits off. since then, it'd became a habit for him to show you how much he loved your boobs and you didn't stop him because it made you feel better about them. "mmm nghh..." his tongue swirled around the sensitive bud, sending jolts of pleasure straight to your core. "ah, xiao..." his hand kneaded and squeezed the other mound causing you to arch your back and in a flustered state, you closed your eyes and pressed his head further into your tits.
encouraged by your reactions, he continued his ministrations, alternating between sucking and licking your nipples while his hands roamed freely over your body, squeezing and groping your breasts, thighs, and ass. he could feel your heat radiating from within, and it only fueled his desire to make you squirm and moan. "oh, I'm going to enjoy this." he purred, his voice dripping with lust as he buried his face deeper into your cleavage. "your tits are so damn perfect. i could feast on them forever..." xiao's hands slid down to the hem of your skirt, pushing it up around your waist as he hooked his fingers into your panties and slowly peeled them down your legs.
your panties were black just to match with your black bra. you're always so cute like that matching everything and all, you're literally his favourite. you didn't resist much as he peeled your soaked panties down, wet with your arousal and instead, you just gave him a cute smile off yours. you always did. but before he could even cup your pussy and continue his assault on your delicious tits, he gasped when your hand suddenly reached out to his zipper and tremblingly unzipped it, pulling out his cock from his boxer. "i heard men like this." you said between heavy breaths before wrapping your hand around the head of his penis and slid it up and down repeatedly, your hand barely able to wrap around it.
"i'm not good at it, but i want to at least try." it was apparent that you were nervous, but you wanted to do it as a form of thank you for always making you feel better about yourself. the sensation of your soft skin against his hardness made him twitch involuntarily and a low groan rumbled in his throat as you began to stroke him, your touch surprisingly skillful despite your nerves. "that's... fuck, that feels amazing." he breathed out, his hips bucking into your grasp instinctively. "keep going, sweetheart. just like that..."
he lifted himself off you momentarily, allowing your bra and shirt to fall away completely before returning to lavish attention on your breasts again. with one hand still massaging and pinching your nipples, the other drifted down towards your slick folds, fingers parting them gently to reveal your glistening entrance. "just relax." he coaxed as he heard your heavy breaths and felt your fingers digging against his shoulder, slipping a finger inside you slowly and savoring the clenching warmth that greeted him.
your hand unintentionally squeezed his cock a little hard and he flinched, biting back a groan when his finger reached that spongy spot inside you. he's always gentle with you, even in this moment, he didn't want to cause you any pain and wanted to make sure you're fine. "x- xiao..." you mumbled his name as you tried your hard to touch his tip and slowly trace your fingertip around the head of his penis, spreading his precum across it before adding a gentle twisting motion while still stroking his shaft.
his amber eyes darkened with desire as he watched you explore him, your touch tentative yet eager. "oh, god, y/n..." he moaned, the pleasure spiraling up from where your fingers worked him. he matched your rhythm, his hips undulating in sync with your strokes, seeking friction and pressure. "that's it... just like that..." you forced yourself to release your hand from his shoulder and instead reach for his balls. cupping them in your hands, you played with them using your fingers lightly. your other hand continued to massage his testicles while you squeezed his balls softly until he added another finger and a loud moan left your mouth.
the sound of your slickness coating his digits filled the room along with the lewd squelches of his fingers thrusting in and out of you as he scissored your walls, and you began to get more desperate as you grinded on his lap with no shame, your eyes glossy with pleasure. your thighs spread wider instinctively while you did so, giving him more access to abuse your walls. xiao intensified his pace as he sensed your desperation, curling his fingers to hit that sweet spot deep within your snug heat. your slick sounds mixed with the wet squelches of his fingers drove into you, mingled with the lewd noises coming from your throat - an arousing symphony of carnal hunger.
"that's right... just like that." he growled, watching as you rode his hand eagerly. he bent down slightly, taking a swollen nipple into his mouth once more, lashing it with his tongue while he relentlessly pumped into your clinging pussy. "fuck, your tits are incredible." he murmured between licks, his free hand leaving your hip to slip around and fondle your other breast, thumb flicking across your hardened peaks. sweet moans were keened from your tasty lips and a firm suck on your tit finally brought you to your orgasm as you let out a broken scream, your hand fastening its pace on stroking his cock at the same time, wanting to bring him to an edge as well.
feeling your climax rip through you, his own need spiked, his movements becoming erratic as he chased his own release. he sucked harder on your nipple, drawing it deep into his mouth as he felt your walls clamp down tightly around his fingers. "shit, I'm gonna—!" his words cut off into a strangled groan as your tight grip around his cock dragged him over the edge. with a few more pumps, he came undone, hot spurts of cum shooting onto your belly as he grounded his hips upwards, chasing every last drop. panting heavily, he slowly pulled his fingers free, watching as his seed trickled down your stomach in thick ropes. he brushed his thumb across your quivering lips, smearing some of the creamy liquid there.
he glanced down, drinking the enticing sight before him, the way your chest rose and fell rapidly, breasts heaving with each labored breath, the way your tongue darted out to lick his seed, the way your cunt dripped with juices, some even smeared on your inner thighs, and the way you looked at him with your sexy eyes, your face flushed, and hair messy. just the sight of it made him want to make you ride him, fill you up with his cock, fill you up with his seed. "are we done yet?" you innocently asked as you flashed him a meek smile. a low chuckle rumbled in his chest at your question as his fingers trailed down to gently caress your dripping slit. "not even close, darling." he purred, his voice husky with renewed desire. "i think we've just gotten started."

Character(s). Xiao, Kazuha, Scaramouche
Random drabbles from random songs on my playlist.
Xiao (Double take by Dhruv)
“Are you alright?” The gentleness in his voice snapped you out of your meltdown, the sound calming your anxious heartbeat. How he had this kind of effect on you? You’re not sure.
The yaksha lead you up on high ground, not high enough to trigger your fear but just enough for you to be able to see the lanterns that was decorating the night sky. The soft, golden glow reminding you of Xiao’s eyes— a flash back of earlier events find its way onto your head.
The sea of people in the port, how agitating it was, your anxiety burning your heart, your thoughts come running down to one action. Call Xiao.
You know it’s selfish to call for him as you are aware of his duties, that he may be resting or such, but your lips whispered his name even before you can comprehend the reasons why you shouldn’t.
“y/n. Are you alright?” It took him not a minute to reach where you are. Tapping your shoulder and looking into your eyes. You shook your head and now, here you are. Under the stunning lanterns that offers tranquility.
“Xiao?” You called out his name again, and he let out a tender “hmm?”
You turned towards the lad, admiring every features you could see. Archons, he’s beautiful under all these warm lights, and he’s looking at you. He looks at no one like this but you.
And yet despite the butterflies raging on your stomach, everything is peaceful. Moments with him were always mellow and placid, the stillness you need whenever the world is in chaos. Do you have the same impact on him? You don’t know.
After seconds, that felt like eternity, you finally found the words to ask him, “How did you find me?”
He looked at you in confusion. Like you just asked him the most ridiculous question you could ever think of. “How did you find me that fast? There’s so many people in the port…”
“Oh… I don’t know…”
I don’t see no body but you.
Kaedehara Kazuha (Blue by Kai)
“Kazuhaa!” was all it takes for the samurai’s heart to jump out of his chest. He’s going to see you; HE’S GOING TO SEE YOUR FACE.
“y/n. It’s good to see you today” The calmness in his voice were contrary to his heartbeat. But he cannot let himself be discovered— he can’t afford to lose this friendship with you, even it means you’ll remain just as friends.
You tackled the man and he let out a chuckle. Patting your head as a sign of affection. “Father allowed me to join the crew for this trip! I’ll get to be with you this time!”
The idea sound endearing in Kazuha’s ears. To spend months with the person he’s pining for, to have a chance to show off his skills— no, no no no. He’s not that kind of person.
“I bet you nagged him to no end for him to agree” you laughed at his words and it set his stomach spiraling once again. “Maybe, but I really want to go. So please just let it be”
You pinched his cheeks before running off to Beidou, giving the captain the news and asking for, of course, her permission for you to join the voyage.
“Loving the view?” Kazuha’s melodic words reached your ears, and you turn to him with a smile. The glistening water from the ocean reflecting on your visage, and sunset behind you cannot compare with how ethereal you look at this moment. At least in his eyes.
A surge of sadness clenches his heart, a thought clouding his mind. He will only taint this beauty, so he’d rather admire you afar.
You in his arms, your love in his care— it will be nothing more than an imagination, a dream for him.
“Kazuha, would it be selfish if I want you to be mine?”
Huh? HUH?
“What are you talking about?” The panic in his voice is vivid, so is the trembling of his hands. Is he hearing things right? Or he’s being delusional?
An awkward silence envelope the little space you two have, aside from the waves and the heavy breathing.
“Well— well of course you can decline! It’s… it is not like I’m forcing you, okay?” Your stuttering made the lad giggle. His warm chuckles painting your face red.
“y/n, are you blushing?”
“IT’S THE SUNSET”
Kazuha let out another burst of laughter before making his way towards you, his gentle digits reaching out to yours. You saw a tint of pink as he planted a kiss on your forehead.
“Kazu, you’re blushing”
“It’s the sunset.”
Know you're all that I want this life.
Wanderer (Best Part by Daniel Caesar)
*I’mma call him Scaramouche here, okay.
You awoke from a suffocating grip, body against body his breath hot and heavy. Scaramouche is having a nightmare.
“Scara. Scaramouche. Love, wake up”. You nudge the man as gentle as you can to wake him up, save him from whatever hell he’s dreaming of.
“y/n?” Your name was his first words, and it would have made you happy if you hadn’t seen the way his eyes look at you. A fragment of sapphire yearning for salvation.
“I’m here, I won’t leave you.”
You took him into your arms, kissing his temple. Your digits combing his locks as you calm the fear in his heart. You are grateful that he’s this vulnerable to you, but your angry at everything that made him this way.
“I don’t need your reassurance”
You smiled at his words; his arms tight around you contradicting it.
“I know, but I am not reassuring you. I am telling you.”
There’s a comforting silence that surrounds the room as Scara’s breathing steadies. Tomorrow, when the sun rises together with him, the lad will surely deny of this event. And you will let him off the hook by simply nodding to his arguments.
Or so you thought.
The sun was already high up, the streets were busy, and you can even hear Nahida looking for your lover. But to your surprise, and amusement, he remains latched onto your body.
You will NOT let this opportunity to admire him go to waste. Fingertips tracing is noseline, his eyes, his lips. The daylight that finds its way to his face only added to his divine looks.
“You’re beautiful”
You received a grunt as a response, and you chuckled. “I love every bit of you.” You whispered, and he opened his eyes.
Once again, you’re met with a piece of midnight. Boring holes into your own. You wouldn’t complain, though. You love his eyes.
“Come on, sleepy head. There’s plenty of things to enjoy within the day” You break the silence once again while rubbing your nose on his.
“This is what I wanna do for the day”
“But you’re gonna be bored. I’m not even supposed to be a part of your expedition today y’know?”
“That’s why this is what I wanna do for the whole day”
Because you’re the best part.

xiao! a quiet moment with the aloof adeptus.
"may I kiss you?" your abrupt question definitely caught the adeptus off guard, beautiful eyes blown wide and almost choking while xiao is finishing his almond tofu, cheeks slightly chubby and turning a light shade of red.
successfully swallowing the food in his mouth, xiao look at you flabbergasted (the most expressive he has been in the day) whilst you end up laughing at his reaction.
"it's rude to make jokes like that while someone is eating" he lectured with an unamused expression, your laugh dying down with it but a grin still evident on your face.
"But I'm not joking though" resting your chin on the palm of your hand you can see how his ears turns a darker shade of red this time. He look away from you, too embarrassed and taken aback from your boldness.
Silence filled the atmosphere as a soft breeze sway his hair and the sunlight cast his eyes just right that they seem to look like gold. Soulful, at peace, yet tired. He look your way and his eyes suddenly is filled with something else.
With a hesitant action he reach for you, his hand softly cupped your cheeks like he's touching fragile glass, eyes gazing at yours intimately like he always do. Without a word he leaned in, giving you a soft kiss on your lips. "Happy?" he asked right after he lean back a few inches.
"Very..."

# — pairings: xiao x gn!reader
# — characters: gender neutral reader, xiao
# — summary: takes place during the 2.7 quest Perilous Trail. What if you manage to dive after him and get the both of you out of the chasm? What if you're tired of him constantly treating himself like he's expendable?
# — warnings: angst, mentions of xiao's past, xiao's suicidal tendencies ofc, xiao cries (yes this is totally a warning)
# — tags: hurt/comfort (?), canon compliant, drabble, emotional
# — notes: this is quite an old work, and to be honest for a long time I wasn't even sure I ever wanted to post my writings and drawings on tumblr again. After much deliberation I've decided to come back. I really love xiao and that never once waned in the years I've been absent from tumblr. I understand that his character now has lost a lot of popularity, but still, I wish for the people who love him like me to be able to enjoy new fanfics, giggle over fanarts and maybe even gather together to share hcs and just have fun. I hope this ficlet finds you well.
They call his name and suddenly his eyes snap open, from gentle surrender to frenzied searching. From the acquiesce that comes with the knowledge that his duty has been performed until the last of his breaths, to the wretched way that last breath catches in his throat and seemingly sets him ablaze.
Staring back at him is a gaze as dark as the abyss that threatens to swallow him whole, equal part unyielding and volatile, equal part selfish and selfless.
"What do you think you're doing? Why- why are you still here?" his voice, a tiny, mangled thing, rips from his throat in an ungraceful, desperate way that's unbecoming of him.
"What do you think? To get us out of here of course. I have a plan!" They shout, the determination in their words almost makes Xiao recoil, bile rises in his throat.
"So did I, that's why I used the last of my strength to teleport all of you out of here, or so I thought." his tone, usually poised and sedate, tempered by thousands of years of torment and endurance, now instead teeters on something much more raw. If they weren't falling to their death, maybe they'd wince at the indignation that seeps into his words like gangrene spreading in his bloodstream.
"I wasn't planning on leaving you behind from the beginning, even if you didn't care for making it out alive from the very beginning."
Something in Xiao, frail and precarious, already hanging in an equilibrium of desperation and reverence, snaps, his throat burns when he shouts, gritty and soiled, like blood stubbornly staining his fingetips and clinging to his nails.
"This... This was the only way!"
"NO, STOP IT." They rebuke him. There's an unfiltered sort of rage in their voice, one that drops all pretense of reason. It makes him stop and begs for attention.
"I HATE IT. The way you look around, wondering who you have to die for today, everyday. That you believe you are nothing more than testament to purpose. Like it's your duty to let this purpose take you apart and dismember you." selfish acrimony wavers, until it is extinguished, and all that remains in its ashes, is grief.
"You gave yourself up so easily."
"I GAVE EVERYTHING-" Xiao howls disjointedly, so incredibly vulnerable, so terribly human.
"EXACTLY. And you still don't believe you deserve anything more than damnation for that. Still don't reach your hand out for fear it will stain my own with shame and make me collateral damage of who you think you've become."
"I can't save you." Xiao slurs, lips sticking together, like his mouth is sealed with cotton. It sounds like a confession. How ironic it is really, when Xiao pleads, a God, the Conqueror of Demons kneels before the altar of a human and pleads for something that frightfully resembles forgiveness.
"You are right, you are not my salvation.
I am.
Nobody is going to save me, make me believe that there's something more to me than rotten effort and spiteful thoughts.
I am salvation, and so are you." They look at him like there's triumph in crashing when they should be soaring.
"You are salvation.
Even if I can't convince you of it.
I can't call your name in a kinder way and expect you to recognize it as yours. But I refuse to let you believe that you're nothing more than perdition." They reach out their hand, willing for the gesture to seem expectant, when they all too well know that the tremble in their fingers spells imploration.
They see it, the way his pupils narrow in hesitation.
They don't see it, but they know it, he's turned away, hair obscuring his face, Xiao cries.
They wonder if it's the first time it happens, if tears obstinately made their way down his face when an evil god made a weapon out of him, if something akin to relief diluted in salt gathered in his eyes when Morax freed him from his enslavement, if regard towards his fallen companions could be expressed in silent tears as he roamed the quietude of Guili Plains at night. Then they remember, the way he told them that tears are nothing but an insult to a Yaksha's duty.
Xiao reaches for their hand they wonder if it's presumptuous to think that Xiao cries for them or for himself.

GENSHIN MEN AS ENEMIES TO LOVERS TROPE.
— PAIRINGS ; ayato, childe, itto & xiao x gn!reader (separate)
— CONTENT ; genshin's quests spoilers ahead (i don't really said them as spoilers but just a little heads-up, especially for those who are new to genshinblr) and slight mentions of blood in childe's.
— NOTES ; reposted from my old blog!

nobleman!ayato x commoner!reader
the kamisato head clan was your least favourite person of all time. this unsure, yet negative feeling you had on him all started since an eight years old AYATO did a prank on your younger self.
a long time had passed by, but since then, ayato seemed to find the joy in stirring your commoner life, until the name ayato engraved at the back of your mind with such revenge and hatred.
it went on and on like this, until one day, he heard the shogunate was going to enforce the vision hunt decree all around inazuma. he had no choice but to obey. after all, he needed to maintain his title as one of the heads in tenryou commission, yet all he thought was you, your stupid smile, and your vision.
he knew he had to do something about it.
“come here,” the moment ayato’s voice called you out, you rolled your eyes. you ignored him, spun and tried to blend in with the crowds, knowing too well that he couldn’t get you in public appearances.
but ayato was faster. all he did was pulling you aside, hidden from prying eyes. “do you have your vision?”
you scoffed, maybe too rude for someone as noble as him, but you did not really care when it was ayato who was right in front of you. “why? you are going to confisticate it? under the behalf of the shogun?”
your choosing of words should’ve made him baffled, or amused, but instead, he didn’t have the time for your nonsense and your attitude. “give me your vision,” his voice asserted command and it honestly intimidated you. “you really want it? no, not with your own hands, kamisato.”
ayato’s grip on your wrist tightened. you didn’t get why he was so stubborn with this, or even wanted to do this, but still, the desperation in his eyes was evident. “give it to me, now,” his tone went cold, and his low tone—almost like a growl—came out from him, frustrated and it left you in a confused yet startled state.
“i’ll take care of your vision, it is much safer with me.”
“ayato?” your voice sounded small, and you were left speechless with his actions. did he really go all this length just to protect your vision?
but... why?
he looked down on you, slowly pulling the vision away, and you nodded, and that was all it took for ayato to have your own consent. “take care, little one. i am hoping that you don’t go around making a fuss with the shogunate.”
you didn’t know why you believe him in the first place, but you did.
and now, your vision was in the hand of your worst enemy, yet he saved you from many unfortunate occasions under the decree.

fatui harbinger!childe x adventurer!reader
CHILDE was a cheerful and an easygoing person. one look at him and everyone instantly knew, that this man, was someone who didn’t take things too seriously.
that was, until your name came out.
both you and him, or maybe all of the people around you, knew that you hated childe with all your heart, and vice versa.
picking up occasional fights with him was normal. belittling each other in combats and talking big about who was better were your daily routine, yet him being like this was certainly out of the norm.
“what do you think you’re doing?” you frowned, retracting your body away from his hold. however, childe was stronger, and there was no point of you trying to fight his strength.
“who did this to you?” he boldly looked up and down at your whole dirty, and bloodied clothes, gently touching all cuts and bruises—in contrast with him forcefully made you sat down in front of him prior to whatever this was.
“why do you even care?” you pulled away for the tenth times from his touch. a foreign feeling bubbling inside your chest, and childe’s gaze was filled with rage, and you were stunned with his face.
“because you are someone i care about.”
you mentally cursed at your damned heart for skipping a beat at that, but childe seemed oblivious with his previous words. all you saw was the ginger in front of you slightly shook and his eyes burned when he saw your injuries.
he truthfully worried, what ifs questions were running around inside his mind, and all he could think of was his subordinates, the fatui.
he knew that they didn’t like him, and he knew that they purposefully injured you, you had been there once, and it was because of him.
sure, you didn’t look like you were hurting, or weak—you were strong, he knew that—but he couldn’t contain himself when he saw how awful you came back from outside of the city.

demon!itto x human!reader
ITTO was a cocky being.—
that was among infinite traits you didn’t like about him.
that sly smirk you had been aching to wipe off of his face. how he practically flaunting his muscles everywhere with no shame. yes, you slightly cringed at the sights but that couldn’t compare with how full he was of himself.
and by gods, he didn’t even give you a time alone. whenever you went, he would be following you behind with his narcissistic side, saying that he would protect you or something along the line of, “don’t worry, this is the one and oni, arataki itto, will protect you.”
no matter how many times you ignored him, that much would be a payback of how clingy he was towards you afterwards.
such a childish act for a huge guy.
“y/n!“ if you could do it sooner, you would’ve shut his loud mouth with a tape, because oh my god, he was loud as hell, and you were getting tired of keeping up with his random bursts of energy.
they said that you shouldn’t be around an oni for too long, but itto seemed harmless. too human although he was a half-demon that was supposedly be feared.
“what is it?” a heavy sigh passed your lips. you just wanted to go out for a morning walk, nothing more and nothing less, and what a wonderful way for you to start your day, you thought.
“just want to greet my favourite person,” he gave you a hug, tone too happy for someone who had just been whining about how he lost in a duel. his face slightly rubbed beside yours and you swiftly ducked your head, ultimately freeing your body from the figure who was too close in your opinion.
“aww,” he slightly whined. you didn’t understand his mood, so you were frankly, straight to the point. “what do you want, itto? you usually want to cut my head off, but today you’re acting like a baby.”
“hey! if you’re shorter than me, you are definitely a child. no room for argument,” he huffed. yep, definitely too whiny for a guy who could’ve break you with a single punch.
“although i badly want to duel with you, since, you know, i uh.. lost yesterday, but isn’t today’s your birthday?”
“and?”
“come on, now. you’re no fun,” he pulled his arms into his chest. “that is why i would like to make your dull life much more brighter,” he faked a cough. “happy birthday—
"yeah, cut it off, arataki itto.”

adeptus!xiao x human!reader
how did someone could be hating on social interactions so much?
that was the first question you only had, and it was for a specific adeptus.
XIAO was too lonely, and when he always shrugged you off, you decided that you didn’t like that side of his.
what was the point in protecting liyue but having a solitude life? did he really feel that bothered by having someone talking with him?
your numerous questions were answered when verr told you his backstory, and maybe you were being dramatic, but his reason was so heartbreaking for you to hear.
“don’t,” xiao’s hard tone warned, because you stared at him too much until he couldn’t bear to see your eyes. he knew that you figured out one thing or two about him, and he didn’t like the fact that there was guilt everywhere inside you. “i do not need your mortal pity.”
you almost cried when you remembered his karmic debt, because all this time, you treated him so bad, and now you were weighing with continuous guilt, guilt and guilt.
“xiao,” you finally, finally voiced out after long session of looking at the adeptus. his green spear in his hand, that mask beside his waist. “i’m sorry.”
“don’t, it’s useless,” xiao wondered how you suddenly became like this. usually, you would bicker with him, saying that he needed communications and daily conversations in his life but today, of all day, where he felt so heavy with karma, you decided to soften your heart and looking at him with such sympathy.
he truly hated that look you had been giving to him for hours now.
he knew you knew, your eyes told him everything.
you felt like comforting him, but you didn’t know how. it was weird when all you did was fighting with him, babbling about all the things surrounded him and then suddenly, you wanted to put him at ease.
so you decided to let the day passed by, silently enjoying the sky view from the rooftop of wangshu inn. no words were told to him, and he, for the first time, appreciated your treatment.

summary.
Your fingers intertwine with his. “I know, Xiao. I know.” He wonders if you really do know. He wonders if you know that he only remembers what it feels like to exist—to be—when you’re looking at him. He wonders if you understand that he would trade his life for yours in a heartbeat, that even since becoming familiar with power and status and things finer than he deserves, all he’s ever wanted is you. All he’ll ever want is you.
It’s become something of a routine.
In the dead of night, you creep across the thick carpet of your room, skirts sliding against fur, until you reach the heavy wood of your door. The thing had always had a wicked creak to it, but you’ve since mastered the art of opening it silently; years of practice had done you some good. It swings open easily enough, revealing the empty hallway to your squinted eyes.
“Xiao,” you murmur through the crack. A soft silver light spills into your room, courtesy of the small magical bulbs lining the halls that invite a lustrous glow into the castle. You’d asked Guizhong to have those installed a few years ago after you saw her displaying her abilities in the courtyard. She’d laughed, finding it ridiculous that a Wizard Sovereign was being given such a mundane task, but indulged you anyway.
The young yaksha responds quickly to your call of his name, as he always does. He bounds down the hallway in seconds, stuttering to a stop in front of your door.
You’ve always liked the way his spear looks at his side; viridescent as it is, it casts a lovely glow on his pale skin and dark hair, illuminating the brighter streaks in a way you find quite beautiful. Even in the low light, mixed silver and green, he looks handsome enough for your heartbeat to quicken. He peeks one golden eye through the door, curious and vigilant.
“What is it?”
“Come in, please.”
Xiao hesitates where he stands; he’s supposed to be patrolling the halls right now, and he just happened to find himself pacing back and forth in the area of the castle where your room is located. He surely can’t justify going off-duty without reason, even if it is by your command.
“Just come in,” you repeat with a bit of a whine at his silence, returning to your seat on the bed and patting a spot on the edge. “They won’t catch you. If they do, I’ll tell them I heard noises and asked you to check.”
“You used that excuse last time,” he says, giving you a disapproving look and leaning his weight against his spear. You smile.
“I hear a lot of noises.”
And Xiao knows he can’t win against you, so he merely sighs before sneaking a glance down the hallway and slipping inside your room. The door shuts silently; over the years, he has also gotten quite a bit of practice on avoiding that characteristic creak. He takes a seat on the edge of your bed, though his spear never leaves his side.
“Is something wrong?” he asks, looking at you out of the corner of his eye. It’s common that you ask him inside, sure, but you never look so perturbed about it.
“I don’t know, something just feels off tonight,” you admit, fingers curling into your silk sheets. “Can you feel something?” He stares at you blankly. “With your, uhm, power?”
The question is so ridiculous that Xiao snorts, the first sign that his serious facade is melting, slow like candle wax, and your presence is the flame. “I’m a wizard, not a fortune teller.”
“The castle feels quite empty today. I heard Zhongli and much of the guard is away on business.”
Xiao nods, having been made aware of the expedition. He had been invited, but had rejected the offer in favor of staying here to protect you—not that he’d listed that as the official reason, of course, but he certainly kept it in mind.
“You still have nothing to worry about,” he replies gruffly, observing how you gnaw at your lip, “two of the Wizard Sovereigns are still here, as well as the other yakshas and…”
He trails off, suddenly feeling awkward. You glance at him out of the corner of your eye, noting how the tips of his ears flush pink. It’s infuriatingly cute.
“And you?” you finish with a smirk, nudging at his side. He flinches, looking away in embarrassment. Truthfully, he can’t understand the sudden rush of heat to his face—protecting you is his job, after all, so there should be no shame in admitting that.
“I suppose.”
You decide not to tease him about his flustered state for once, instead glancing out the window. The moon rises high in the sky, loose rays scattering through the curtains and contrasting the dark sky.
“The moon must look so beautiful from the Harbor,” you note absently. Your hand reaches for Xiao’s, and though his face burns in embarrassment, he doesn’t flinch away even when your fingers fall over his. Instead, he allows you this moment of silence; he knows you’re thinking about the civilians of the Harbor, as you always are.
You and your family are quite beloved among the people; whenever Xiao accompanies you on excursions to the Harbor and around the market, you’re greeted with starry eyes and wide grins filled with affection. Admittedly, Xiao had tried his hardest to keep them away at first with a fierce glare, but you merely placed a gentle hand on his shoulder and told him it was alright—you want to see them, talk to them, get to know their lives. You adore your people as they do you.
The room grows quiet as you fall deeper into thought, and Xiao is overcome by the desire to ask what you’re thinking. He’s not good with words, nor is he good at comfort or anything of the sort, but he’s willing to battle whatever demons are intruding on your calm mind.
“Can you…do the thing?”
He has to suppress a laugh at the way you call magic—the art he’s spent years learning and endless blood, sweat, and tears mastering—the thing, but he indulges you regardless. He dips a hand into his pocket, producing a Qingxin flower that he will never admit he carries around for this very purpose. As his fingertips glow with the magic streaming through his body, your expression glows with awe, only growing brighter when the flower’s stem curls and spreads at the edges, popping new blooms until an entire bouquet is held within his hands.
And though Xiao usually hates when humans ask him for frivolous entertainment, he doesn’t mind doing it for you. He thinks you’re the most beautiful when you’re like this, all star-dotted eyes and soft smiles, so he’ll do whatever magic you want until he has nothing left.
“Wow, Xiao!” you whisper, trying to keep your voice down even though your hands clap quite loudly. “Your magic is always so beautiful…it must be so difficult.”
His lips press into a half-smile. “It’s not hard at all. Very basic manipulation.”
His fingers curl around the flowers again and they glow golden, rippling at the edges until they explode upwards into a small shower of sparks. They disperse like tiny stars among your high ceiling, and your jaw drops in delight.
“Do more, do more!” you request excitedly, hands falling over Xiao’s. He gulps.
“I don’t have any more flowers,” he replies a bit unevenly, showing you his empty pockets. As a yaksha, he’d feel a bit stupid carrying a pocket full of flowers instead of weapons, but the look on your face makes him regret that decision.
“There are some just outside, can’t you go pick more?”
And he really shouldn’t, he thinks, even as he slips outside to the courtyard, but he just can’t say no to you. The night air bites—he pulls his cloak tighter around himself, slinking into the garden. There are countless flora and fauna here, the kind that burst in the day and the kind that bloom quietly in the dark. You like to spend your days here often, reading or asking Xiao to tell you stories. His eyes fall upon the Qingxin, a small patch at the edge—your favorite.
He only manages to pick one flower before a deafening blast bursts from the castle, the ground rumbling under his feet. In surprise, his gaze whips over his shoulder in time to see the beginnings of smoke rising from somewhere around the Great Hall. It filters up slowly, clinging to the clouds and easing a sense of foreboding into Xiao’s heart.
“What the hell…” he murmurs to himself, brows furrowing in confusion.
“Yaksha, sir!”
Xiao turns to see another guard—Donghai, he thinks his name is—stumbling out of the castle, blood staining his cloak and leaking through the front of his uniform. One dully glowing hand is pressed to a deep wound in his stomach, but it’s not enough magic to heal it properly.
The guard nearly collapses at the yaksha’s feet, a broken sob ripping through his throat as Xiao catches him by the arm. Up close, there are even more gashes criss-crossed across his face, crimson dripping from the corner of his mouth.
“What’s going on?” Xiao demands, shaking him by the shoulders a bit to get his attention. His eyes are growing hazy, focus fading like water slipping through fingers.
“We…trap. Inside the castle,” Donghai wheezes, struggling for breath. He coughs once, splattering Xiao’s arms with blood. “Monsters.”
A hot, searing pain like sharp claws rakes through Xiao’s chest, slicing his heart to ribbons and dropping its remnants at his feet. He sets Donghai in the grass, harshly barking at a shell-shocked guard standing nearby to administer healing. He doesn’t stay to see whether they follow his order or not, instead sprinting through the palace gates.
Chaos swirls before his eyes.
The castle is flooded with carnage, beasts growling as they roam the halls and survivors dragging themselves into corners to fade away in the dark. The expensive carpets and draperies have been torn to shreds, walls splattered with blood and dusted with burn marks. The air seeps with darker magic so dense that he feels like he’s choking on it. Xiao doesn’t know where to start—there’s too many screams, too much chaos, too much—
You.
He has to start with you. He should always start with you.
Jumping into the fray feels as natural as breathing. He’s spent his whole life learning to fight, fighting to survive, fighting to protect. But the magic drains from his body at a pace so fast that it’s abnormal—he’s fighting with his heart, not his mind. Lightning flashes of green seep from his skin as he cuts down monster after monster, jumping and plunging and slicing through the air. The monsters are more vicious today; a claw catches Xiao in the back, and he slams into the stone wall, the air being knocked from his lungs.
He crumples, crawls to his knees, coughs, then rises again.
In order to defeat monsters, you must become one yourself.
As he runs past the throne room, he tries to ignore the ugly tear through the royal family’s portrait, the canvas split directly across your smiling face. He doesn’t want to entertain the implication in his mind.
“Princess!” he screams, letting his throat grow raw with despair. The air inside the castle is burning, and he doesn’t have the magic left to cast the proper spell to dispel the heat—it’s all he can do to stay alive as is. Flames roar and lick at his skin as he advances further. He rips his cloak off, pressing the fabric to his nose to subdue the thick smoke filling his lungs.
Something worth keeping is something worth dying for.
Silvery spots of light dot through the grayish darkness, and Xiao follows them. He knows this hall, knows it by heart because it’s your hall. His fingers brush along stone walls as he fumbles to find your door; when he meets wood, he immediately shoves it open.
Hell greets him like an old friend.
/
Xiao staggers out of the castle minutes later, thoroughly beaten and a fresh scar seared into his right arm. He doesn’t want to look at it right now, though—can’t look at it right now, because there’s so much to be attending to. People moaning for help and crying for their lives, laid out in the singed grass of the castle courtyard. There are medics running about, some from the guard and some he doesn’t recognize. But Xiao has nothing left to give. He can’t save them; he can’t save anyone.
He stumbles forward, one foot after the other, limbs getting caught in the scraps of his shredded cloak. Something small and white falls from his pocket, floating to the ground in a heap of dirt.
A Qingxin flower. It starts to scatter with the wind; Xiao hisses a breath between his teeth.
“No,” he whispers, dropping to his knees and scraping the petals together like a madman. The soft white forms a small pool in front of him, though his fingernails cake with dirt and his body burns with overuse.
“No, no, no,” he repeats like a mantra. He’s already collected the remnants of the flower, but it’s not enough—tears and darkness blur his vision at the edges, and he’s still tearing at the grass with reckless abandon. Someone’s calling his name, he thinks, or maybe his mind is already frayed at the edges. Either way, he ignores it in favor of gathering the flower in his quivering palms, closing his hands around it gently. He’ll keep this safe, if nothing else.
His vision loses focus, and the last thing he sees is the ground shooting toward his face.
/
When Xiao wakes up, it is morning, and the dawn brings a world so different that he doesn’t recognize it at all.
The stiff cot he was placed on feels like sandpaper to his bones—they groan in protest as he moves, urging himself to sit up. It takes a few minutes before he can wobble to his feet; by the time he manages it, a sporadic pain starts to stab into his head, raw and pulsing. A royal messenger bounds up to his side, eyes narrowed as they read robotically from the scroll in their hands. With every word they speak, Xiao’s shoulders feel heavier. Maybe he should have stayed asleep. Maybe he should’ve forgotten.
The entire royal family was killed in the chaos. The other four yakshas are also dead, having been attacked first when the monsters invaded the castle. No one can explain how they had appeared inside, no one can explain why, no one can explain any of it—it was just a senseless, horrifying massacre. He has been dismissed from his position as yaksha, and is to vacate the castle effective immediately.
As the messenger leaves and Xiao’s thoughts wander to last night, he can’t gather the energy to wonder why he’s just been fired. He doesn’t even really care—it’s not like there’s anything left to protect anyway. He doesn’t find it strange, at first. All he can really do is walk forward, golden eyes staring blankly ahead, off the castle grounds and away from you.
When Xiao walks through the Harbor that day, skin painted in black, blue, and red, no longer do the people revere his arrival. News travels quick in Liyue Harbor; it’s only natural that the people had already heard of their royal family’s fate. Men, women, and children line the stone streets, staring up at the ruined castle in horror, whispering amongst themselves and shedding tears together. They scream at him and the other former guards, jeering and tossing trash that bounces off his body dully. He can barely feel it, can barely feel anything.
“You damn wizards,” one man cries, shaking a fist in Xiao’s direction, “what good are you here if you can’t do your one goddamn job? Get the hell out of Liyue, traitors!”
“The poor royal family,” one woman yells, tapping a handkerchief under her eyes to catch stray tears, “they trusted you!” Her eyes fall on Xiao, and she adds, “The princess trusted you!”
While the other guards curse and mutter under their breaths, some even daring to yell back at the crowd, Xiao says nothing. He doesn’t look up, doesn’t talk back, doesn’t even contemplate a response.
Because they’re right.
You had trusted him to protect you, and he had failed.
He continues on.
The expedition returns that day, bearing witness to the fallen castle and traumatized guards, all blank eyes and flat faces. Xiao does not go to greet those returning—instead, he finds himself on a cliff overlooking the sea, just outside Liyue Harbor. That place no longer feels like home, no longer feels like anything. He can’t stand to be there a moment longer. If his comrades want to see him, they will come find him in time.
Zhongli approaches within the next hour, remorse written all over his face. Xiao can sense him coming, but chooses to say nothing; he feels that Zhongli might be his last comrade in this world.
“Your arm,” he says passively, in place of a greeting. He takes his place at Xiao’s side without issue, still and proud as a statue. He’s always carried an aura of power with him—Xiao wishes he had been there last night. Maybe things would have been different.
He glances to his right arm, to the emerald lines swirling and swaying down his bicep and ending just beneath his elbow. A faint glow emanates from the mark, a reminder of their magical origins. When it shimmers under his stare, Xiao scowls and pulls his cloak over his arm to cover it. The garment is still tattered and stained, and the torn fabric fails to hide the shining mark underneath.
“It doesn’t hurt,” he replies, as if that is a proper explanation of where it came from.
Zhongli clicks his tongue. “You must’ve overexerted yourself quite a bit in order to sustain a sigillum.”
It’s not mad, or judgmental, or even disappointed—just factual. It’s his way of gently prying, offering Xiao a chance to speak about what he saw and experienced. Sigillum are known to be extremely painful for wizards, a permanent mark signaling a severe overuse of magic, and most who have one certainly didn’t gain it by choice. Xiao is no different.
He doesn’t speak, and for a few more minutes, neither does Zhongli.
Just when Xiao gets tired of staring at rolling waves and solitary islands in the distance, Zhongli brings the whole sky crashing down.
“Guizhong is being tried for crimes of treason.”
Xiao’s heart lurches, nearly throwing him forward into the unforgiving sea. Zhongli is strong, one of the most powerful wizards known to Teyvat, but the quiver of grief in his voice is audible; now, there is truly nothing left.
Without a response, Zhongli continues on.
“She was the only one of us Wizard Sovereigns present there, and she’s being blamed for the attacks and her failure to command the guard and protect the royal family.”
“Marchosius was on duty last night as well, he can—”
“Marchosius is dead.”
A slow, wobbling breath flows from Xiao’s lungs then, dissipating like ice into the air. Everything feels unreal, like a terrible nightmare that he will shake himself out of any second now. If Guizhong is being tried, it’s likely she’ll be sentenced—the commonpeople’s reaction has made that quite obvious already.
Xiao knows Liyue’s obsession with contracts. Debts of blood can only be paid with more spilling.
“So, what?” he hisses. “You’ll be the only Wizard Sovereign now? They’ve already banned all of the lower guard from the castle, do they expect you to protect it by yourself?” His heartbeat quickens, sprinting and burning like he had yesterday, and it sends a shooting pain down his spine. “I mean, they haven’t even investigated why it happened. Are they idiots? They think they can fight magical beasts without us? Even one of us would be better than ten of them against a beast, don’t they know—”
“Xiao.”
The gentle, rumbling voice of his superior pulls him out of his thoughts, and Xiao flinches when he realizes he’s summoned his spear, fingers clenching white-knuckled around it, chest heaving with every fiery breath. Zhongli’s stare is full of needless pity, and Xiao looks away with a huff. Really, he doesn’t find his anger unjustified—the actions of the new castle are truly foolish, and he’s unsure who exactly is making such decisions.
“I’ve been relieved of the position,” Zhongli explains woefully. “They suspect that wizards planned the attack as a sort of coup and it got out of hand, so the entire guard has been dissolved. I assume we’ll be replaced with humans.”
The thought is so ridiculous that for a few moments, Xiao doesn’t even dignify it with an answer.
“They think we killed more than half of our own guard on accident? That we planned to let the castle be destroyed?”
The anger threatens to drown him all over again, and Zhongli sighs, looking out at the sea vacantly. His eyes, which usually reflect kindness and mirth, only show an exhaustion far past his years.
“Xiao, you have to understand. The humans…they don’t understand how magic works, how we work. And humans will always fear what they don’t know.”
No, Xiao wants to say, maybe scream, humans don’t always fear what they don’t know. Because you had never been afraid of him a day in your life. The thought makes him feel as though the ground will give out underneath him, makes tears spring to his eyes.
In his entire time in the guard, Xiao thinks he has only cried once.
It had been while he was still just training as a normal guard, when the magic still took heavy tolls on his body and he returned to the barracks every night sore and bruised. There was no respect for him back then, given that he was an orphan, no one special, no one from a revered wizard bloodline. It didn’t bother him most days, but there was one day when it just became too much, and he curled up in his bunk and cried. He sobbed into his fist, wiped his tears, and set out the next day to do his job all over again, as he always did.
When he thinks about it now, a lot of that stopped mattering by the time he was promoted to a yaksha. Things got better after that—people started bowing their heads to him and complimenting his strength, and it felt nice. Recognition was nice, but it paled in comparison to everything he felt when he met you. You never cared where he was from or who his parents were, because all you loved about him was him.
But you’re not here now.
He falls to his knees, head bowing to the sun, eyelids fluttering weakly. Zhongli’s mouth falls open in shock, and though he reaches out, he’s stopped by Xiao’s strained voice.
“If they saw…if they saw how hard I tried to save her,” he pauses as the lump in his throat broadens, and he chokes it down, “if they knew what I had to do, they would never suspect us.”
“I know, Xiao.”
And before he realizes it, he is trembling; tremors run over his entire body, shifting and pulling like tectonic plates, matching the earthquake reverberating in his hollow chest. A hardened fist meets the ground, glowing with magic and creating a small crater from the force.
“If they knew what I would do to bring her back, they would never…”
He can’t get far enough to finish the sentence, a sudden wave of emotion crashing over him until glassy tears flow freely from his eyes, plummeting to the ground in dark splotches. Zhongli says nothing at first, or perhaps has nothing to say, nothing to wane the overflowing grief coursing through Xiao’s veins.
In a single night, Xiao had lost everything he had ever known.
Zhongli leans down slightly, placing a firm hand on his shoulder and pointedly avoiding the fresh mark painting his skin. His voice just barely bubbles forth from his chest.
“You are the last yaksha. Your fellow yakshas, your comrades, your friends, they watch over you now. You must not let the grief become your undoing. There is no sympathy left for us here now.”
Xiao’s fists clench against the ground. He thought he’d known grief for years now—the grief of being weak, the grief of being unwanted, the grief of loss—but none of that had ever compared to the ice-cold pit in his heart now. He looks up, looking entirely lost, entirely empty.
“What do we do?” he asks in a whisper.
Zhongli quietly lifts his chin to the sky, arms crossed over his chest, something like a behemoth to Xiao’s crouched form. A vague twitch at the corner of his mouth is the only sign that shows unrest, or perhaps despair.
“Even if there is nothing left,” he says, “we live.”
/
If he had just been more calm, thought more about what he was doing, he could save you right now. He would press his hands to your stomach and let all his magic coalesce until you were okay.
Phantom apologies and twisted prayers slip from between his lips.
“Dammit, dammit, dammit!”
Your blood soaks through the gaps in his fingers. His breathing starts to pick up. He’d used up too much magic earlier; there’s not enough left to heal you properly, not enough left to do much of anything. All he can do is watch as you fade away, eyes still warm with mirth.
You cough, reaching out. “Xiao, your arm—”
“It’s fine,” he hisses, teeth gritted, trying to summon some semblance of power to help. It’s not fine, really—his arm burns like hellfire, like a knife is cutting down to the bone, but he won’t stop for anything. He doesn’t even notice the lime glow searing into his skin, marking him with regret and memories that will sting in the back of his mind.
“Mother always said that Qingxin mean strength, since they grow on stone peaks,” you whisper, tucking the flower into the pocket under his cloak. When your hand brushes past his chest, he traps it there, fingers curling over yours so you can feel his heartbeat. You manage a weak smile. “Xiao, you’re the strongest person I’ve ever known.”
“Princess, I—“
Your fingers intertwine with his. “I know, Xiao. I know.”
He wonders if you really do know.
“Xiao,” you murmur weakly, eyes glassy and thumb brushing over his lip. It reminds him too much of the many moments in which his heart grew fonder, in which you shared silent laughs in the dead of night and brushed fingers under lantern light. It hurts. “So beautiful.”
He wants to tell you that this isn’t beautiful, that none of this is beautiful, that the raw stench of burning flesh and iron will haunt him for years to come. He wonders if he should tell you that he saw your sister’s bedroom door smashed open, a shred of your brother’s cloak soaked in blood, the thrones tipped to the ground and marred with deep claw marks. He thinks he shouldn’t.
His heart beats in tandem with yours, aligned perfectly in a steady rhythm that slows to a crushing conclusion.
And in your final moments, you murmur three words that have his eyes fluttering shut painfully. Everything stops. He can’t breathe. Your silken curtains shoot up in flames, heat crawling up toward the ceiling. The room still burns around him, books and photos and memories and lives becoming ashes, becoming unrecognizable and irreparable. He feels that he himself is burning along with them.
And if Xiao draws you into tired arms in that empty room and cries, sobs, breaks, until the words “no” and “please” don’t even sound real anymore, until his tears dot your lashes and run down your cheeks, that is a secret between him and the unwavering moon—all that will be left is cinders and contrition.
Everything crumbles to dust beneath his fingers.
A/N. so this was actually supposed to be a prologue to a bigger multi-chap fic with childe and scara (and ofc xiao) in the same universe, but i never truly saw it through so... whoops. but if this gets a good response maybe it'll happen one day LOL who knows! thank you for reading!

"beatitude" - xiao x f!reader
genre : smut - word count : 1.8k
summary : first time with xiao .
warnings : sexual content, unprotected sex, vaginal penetration, fingering, biting etc
MINORS DNI.

“is this okay, xiao?” you whispered softly as you softly ran your fingers on his neck, pulling him in gently to plant a tender kiss on his lips. you were slightly concerned if he was pushing himself for your sake, from how his elbow slightly shivered next to your head as he held his body weight on top of you. his hold on your waist was almost hesitant and cautious, all the more intensified by how flushed his fair face was illuminated by the blue moonlight.
“i want to… with you… want to try for you” xiao replied in an equally soft voice, his hand gently cupping your cheek and pressing the softest kisses over your cheeks and lips. his lips remained pressed to yours for longer, his breathing getting heavier as his hand pushed your face to his closer as he all but poured his entire affection into the familiar act of kissing as you’ve shared hundreds of times before. and even a simple kiss was enough to overwhelm him sometimes, making you worry if he was perhaps uncomfortable with the rush of emotions and sensations he was undoubtedly new to.
before you could say another word, you gasped and held your breath instinctively when his hands slowly travelled down and rubbed your thighs, treating you like a divine archon he's vowed to worship. and in a sense you were, he had decided from the day he saw you that he’d protect you, keep you from harm and keep the prettiest smile he’s seen in his millenniums-long existence safe and sound. keeping you happy was his greatest desire and if both of you wanted to share your love and feelings in such intimacy, he had absolutely no reluctance to give you all of him.
“you seem nervous too, love” he whispered gently as he kept his hand over your thighs still.
“is this okay?” he repeated your words as he caressed your body gently, making you shudder and nod almost eagerly. after all, you’d be lying if you said you hadn’t been waiting for this moment for quite a while now.
“do you need me to take lead, xiao?” you caressed his cheek and pressed your lips on his forehead to hopefully ease his tension and it visibly worked when he closed his eyes and savoured the feeling of your tender kiss. he shook his head and kissed your lips sweetly again as he gently held your thigh up and placed himself in between your legs.
“no, want you to relax and… enjoy” enjoy me- in truth he wanted to say but held his tongue in slight embarrassment. his words made your cheeks flush slightly, the heat of the moment making you dizzy.
“my love…” xiao’s slightly gruff voice purred in your ear as he placed kisses over your neck, all while you held tightly to his shoulders, pulling him in closer. you didn’t even realise when you two had become fully bare, too caught up, drunk on the feeling of xiao’s warm hands worshipping and caressing your skin, leaving a trail of flames, a surge of electricity everywhere he touched.
xiao felt slightly conflicted on what to do and looked at you for guidance bashfully, all while his amber eyes took in the sight of your bare beauty in its divinity. his gaze was not subtle, he possessively drank in the sight, his cheeks flaring a rosier shade of red as he almost groaned in bliss from the sight alone.
noticing his slight hesitation, you gently grabbed his hand and guided his hand to touch your dampening heat, letting his slightly calloused fingers drag over from your entrance leading above. it was more or less of an accident when he pushed his fingers down experimentally, flicking your swollen clit harshly. your body tensed and trembled at the unexpected contact, and xiao’s eyes widened in concern. before he could ask if he hurt you, you bit your lip and guided him to move his fingers a bit more on the same spot, and his breath hitched when you let out a soft sigh of pleasure.
his words were stuck in his throat when he finally got a hang of dragging his fingers over and circling around your clit, your wetness making an embarrassingly effective lubricant to his experimental movements. you shuddered in pleasure the more he grew confident in touching you, focusing intensely on your reactions and the slightest facial expressions. he was making you feel this pleasure, he was making you gasp and moan so sweetly- he gulped at the realisation. his sharp golden eyes observed your face more, drinking in the sight of your lips trembling and making the prettiest sounds, and he couldn’t help but let out a similar groan of pleasure just from seeing you like this. you reached out to grab his wrist and lead his fingers inside, the dampness making a squelching sound when you shivered from his two fingers stretching your velvet walls.
xiao’s gaze darkened as he held his breath when you led his movements, quietly following your words on what you liked. his fingers weren’t thick, but when he added a third finger and pushed in deeper until his digits were fully inside, your back arched as he felt your walls fluttering and clamping down around his hand. his slender fingers reached deep inside of you, every movement brushing deeper as he greedily stared at the sight of your face twisted in pleasure, alluring him more.
“you’re so beautiful…” xiao whispered in adoration, his voice and body leading your mind to another dimension where only the two of you existed in the vast world. his fingers curled and you whimpered when he slowly learnt what you preferred, focusing on moving his fingers to the spot that made your eyes roll back and cling onto his shoulders more. you pulled him close to him and kissed his lips needily, and he immediately reciprocated as he kept his motions steady and brushing over your sensitive spot every time you tightened around his fingers.
you whimpered and held his wrist again, stopping his movements.
“xiao, please- i can’t wait, need you” you muttered and xiao could swear that his body heat rose just from your sweet words alone. he let out a sigh of pleasure when you hastily pulled him in closer and placed his length in front of your entrance, looking into his eyes as you experimentally rubbed his tip over.
xiao couldn’t find the right words to say, so instead he leaned in and captured your lips hungrily again, the heat growing your bodies burning hotter every moment. when you nodded softly in consent, he felt his tension slowly heighten as he quietly enjoyed the moment more. your vulnerability, your voice, expression and your hold on his shoulders tightening now and then, his gaze darkened and clouded over with insatiable desire every time you graced him with your beauty. he needed more, he needed to have you or else- he’d go insane.
he carefully placed his hands on your hips and held on tight as he pushed into your eager entrance slowly. your heart pounded against your ribcage as you shuddered and felt his girth stretch you to fit him inside, his size being much more than you had initially expected or even experienced before. your hold on xiao’s shoulder got tighter as he pulled your body closer and continued pushing himself in, his breath shuddering at the unfamiliar overwhelming feeling of warmth and tightness. he almost felt his consciousness fade away from just burying himself into you halfway through, he didn’t know anything even quarter close to how blissful you felt.
your body trembled slightly when you felt his pelvis press against your heat, indicating that he had fully pushed inside your snug heat. you sighed in relief when you felt all of him, his cock almost forcing your tense walls to accommodate his size. neither of you said anything as the intense sensation clouded your minds, overwhelmed by the feeling of your bodies connecting.
xiao gently placed his hands on your face, cupping your cheeks as he kissed you slowly. he gently rocked his hips into you as his lips moved in sync with yours, his hold tightening on your jaw when he felt a surge of pleasure overwhelm him every time he made the slightest movements. he stared at you with a soft and vulnerable gaze, he truly adored that you trusted him enough to share such an intimate moment with him. his heart swelled uncontrollably with pride and love, as he slid his arms below you and hugged him close as he rolled his hips gently so as to not overwhelm both you and himself. you leaned your cheek closer to him and placed soft kisses on his ear and jaw as he buried his face into the space between your neck and shoulder, groaning subtly from the pleasure that seemed otherworldly. you were perfect for him, you felt so perfect and right, and he hugged you closer every time he slowly moved himself in and out. you hugged him close in response, not bothering to hold back the soft moans of bliss every time he moved sensually inside, his veiny length creating a blissful friction against your velvety walls.
your mouth fell open and a louder, high-pitched moan escaped your lips when he unexpectedly bit down on your shoulder, suddenly picking up the pace as his hips snapped inside of you at a steady pace rather than rocking gently like before. xiao breathed heavily and let out low groans as he lost himself and moved as his body pleased, sinking his teeth into your tender skin more. you moaned louder at the feeling, your nails digging into his back as you pulled him in closer, deeper into you.
‘i love you, i love you’ - the three words repeated nonstop in xiao’s mind as he claimed you pridefully, kissing and licking the spot he bit to hopefully ease the pain he unintentionally caused in the heat of the moment. he wanted to say it out loud, show you how proud he was to have you like this, let you know how much he craved you in all your glory but the snug feeling of your tightness clenching around him uncontrollably wouldn’t let the right words leave his lips as only breathless moans escaped.
he didn’t notice know how noisy he was being until you crashed your lips against his, swallowing both of your moans as his thrusts become more and more ferocious, led only by carnal desires clouding his every thought. xiao was speechless, his mind a blur the longer he spent moving inside of you. all he could see, smell, touch and hear was you, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. you felt like pure heaven, a bliss, his safe haven in his painfully long existence- his darling lover taking him in so well, making him fall deeper in love, absolutely hypnotized. he felt himself grow addicted to your taste, savouring your lips greedily as his movements fastened, brushing deeper into you every time. you moaned breathlessly as he ravaged your body, feeling him slip in and out, rubbing your insides just right making you lightheaded.
he silently thanked the archons for gracing him with an angel like you, and he vowed over and over again in his head that he would protect you, keep you safe and sound, happy beside him- the only place he’d ever want you to be.

kisses with him
ft. xiao, kazuha, kinich
genre/notes: fluff-ish, mildly suggestive (kinich) (let me know if something is missing!)
☁︎ xiao
it feels like a little secret, sitting alone on the rooftop of wangshu inn while bustling and gleeful conversations go wild inside, visitors unaware of you and the company next to you. very close next to you.
your knee brushes against xiao’s, so do your shoulders. in the back of your head you remember the first few times you sat like this, how beat red the adeptus used to be, flustered beyond one’s comprehension. it’s better now, but it’s amusing that you can still find remnants of it — tips of his ears tinted red, eyes darting over your every feature, lips parted from mesmerization as they burn in the want to lock with yours.
xiao’s fingertips merely feather your cheek, but when you lean even closer his palm curls to fully caress its expanse. it brings a smile to your face and for as long as it remains, he allows himself forget the weight of karmic debt, breathing out in what sounds like relief. the final push is the way you place your hand on top of his, the underlying sign of mutual affection urging him to close what’s left of the gap.
it’s a light touch, and xiao is so tender in the way he moves his lips against your own, almost as if he’s afraid the slightest pressure will break you; you’re simply too dear to him, a mortal being out of many, many others that he cherishes more than he’d ever even let himself imagine, and it’s that particular feeling that makes him push just the slightest bit closer.
it’s pure tenderness that the kiss conveys, and xiao knows the taste of it will remain on his lips even after you part. yet, it’s faint, so delicate and fleeting. it’s not enough, not for an adeptus who’s living through loving and being loved for the first time, so it makes you laugh a bit when he’s quick to lean in once again.
☁︎ kazuha
for his nature to be the definition of calm, kazuha must love to make all hell break loose within you.
at this hour, the crux is just about as quiet as the vast sea is tonight. the ship’s deck is empty, even beidou, who’d been up drinking until late, is sleeping soundly and nowhere to be seen. yet, he’s being awfully carefree and comfortable with having you held between himself and the ship’s railing when anyone could come out and see at any moment.
with one hand on the wood, the other is holding your chin in the other. the bandaged fingers of a sword-user feel rough against your skin, though you hardly notice that with how soft his grip is—he’s giving you a clear opportunity to slip away from the risk of being caught, but you can’t bring yourself to do so when kisses feather from the spot below your ear, gradually further up towards the corner of your lips. your stares lock for a moment, and kazuha can’t help but let out a breath of someone utterly lovesick. “don’t give me that look,” he breaks the night silence, “you’re going to drive me insane.”
and just like that, he presses his lips against yours. upon responding to the kiss, kazuha sighs in relief, revealing the slightest hint of eagerness in the touch. he shifts from the railing to hold you closer by your lower back; in the back of your mind, you wonder if he had anything to drink tonight, but you don’t think much more about it, instead letting yourself indulge in the love he’s so shameless about giving you.
☁︎ kinich
kinich rests his weight back on his palms, one leg curled up to his chest as the other dangles from the side of his bed. you’ve been yapping for quite a while now, but he doesn’t mind at all, entertained by the fresh stories of your most recent journey outside of natlan’s borders. with that said, parts of his mind isn’t even present, something which you seem to notice in the middle of your talking. “and that traveler actually had this flying little companion with he— hey, are you listening?”
the small smile he’s been wearing this entire time doesn’t falter even as he answers, head tilting to the side, “yeah—what about the traveler?”
“oh—... well, yeah. after she proved me innocent to fontaine’s iudex—i think they were friends, by the way—we hung out a bit, she told me about her adventures, and how she was looking for her brother…” your words, trail off a bit, the excitement turning into a pout, “but she looked quite sad while talking about him. i’m sure she misses him a lot.”
“that’s not really strange, is it?” kinich responds, “waiting for someone to come home can get quite lonely sometimes.”
the wording makes you curiously glance up, but he’s already reaching a hand out, his warm palm finding your cheek. you’d lie to say it doesn’t cause an extra skip in your chest, but you hide that with a smug grin, “are you saying you’ve missed me too?”
kinich doesn’t answer through more than an airy laugh, and it surprises you when he suddenly leans in without warning. there’s only a brief pause, one where his eyes dart down to your lips, before he locks them with your own.
his kisses are gentle. every time, without fail, but there are occasions they’re accompanied with a certain longing; his hand shifts from your face to the back of your neck, like he’s trying to keep you from retreating, although he knows just fine you’re not even considering it; it takes every bit of his power to not laugh when you gasp into the touch, all while he’s not even trying to hold back how he deepens the kiss. quite a way to welcome you back.

WHEN THE MOON RISES
How they spend their night with you as your lover
ᡣ𐭩 •。ꪆৎ ˚⋅ ━ Pairings; Kazuha, Scaramouche, xiao x gn! reader
𓈒࣪ Genre/content; tooth rotting fluff, stargazing, late night walks/runs, late night cooking, established relationships, FIANCÉ SCARAAA, not proofread

𓈒࣪ 𐐪𐑂 ─ Kazuha
Kazuha has you in his hold next to him as you nuzzle into him, the warmth that radiates off of him contrasting to the wind in the air that leaves chills down your spine. It’s comfortable being with him like this, the silence leaving only the sound of nature to be heard as you both look into the night sky seeing the stars scattered around.
You’re caught in the moment until you feel his hand grasp yours, he drags it up pointing to the stars above. You look over at Kazuha seeing his face locked onto you with his warm eyes on you.
“Distracted dove? I thought you wanted to stargaze.”
Kazuha lets out an airy laugh as he noticed the way you seemed to be dozing off instead of focusing on the stars just as you had wanted, but you can’t help how comfortable you felt—it leaving you almost tired as you leaned into Kazuha more.
“You can’t blame me…especially with how warm you are kazu.”
Your comment leaves a red tint on his face, but his expression is calm as he traces his fingers over yours before making your hand trace over the stars up above. You look up and feel yourself being immersed into the feeling of the view, along with the comfort of Kazuha holding your hand. He smiles but you don’t see it as he runs his hand over yours before he speaks up once more.
“Just…focus on me dove.”
You look back into the night sky seeing Kazuha continue to move your hand as if he wants to hold the star he traces. The feeling of his hand holding yours fills you with comfort as you lean your head onto his shoulder, silence once again overtaking as you two are caught in the moment.
No words are needed as you feel Kazuha use his free arm to warp around you, as if it was a blanket covering you up. The feeling makes shiver as his arm wraps around you but it only makes you lean closer to the source of warmth that is next to you.
His presence making you feel at peace as this was what you had needed, you two were always able to be close to one another but recently you’ve feel out of mind. So having the idea of stargazing, Kazuha didn’t oppose as he only wanted the best for you. And he’s glad he has made this decision to come out with you, cause now he is able to hold you while being able to embrace the feeling of your presence.
𓈒࣪ 𐐪𐑂 ─ Scaramouche
He wants to wiggle his hand out of your grasp, his tinted face being proof of his annoyance with having to hold your hand like a child who walks with their mother. But Scaramouche knows if he parts ways, his hand will eventually come back to yours. And he definitely doesn’t want you to tease him about later, so he clasps your hand as you two walk through the night.
“I don’t even know why I agreed to come with you…”
“You’re acting like you wouldn’t be texting me about my whereabouts if you didn’t come.”
He hears you laugh, he just wants to shut you up cause Scaramouche definitely would not text you worried. Never. Neverrrr.
“I would never.”
But Scaramouche knows how he gets whenever you leave, he doesn’t like to admit how clingy he can get whenever you’re away. It feels almost natural for you to be by his side all the time, most likely because of how long you two have been together. He doesn’t even remember the last time he wasn’t able to sleep with you by his side.
“Rightttt….oh, look.”
You point to the thing that lays next to the wall, Scaramouche follows your finger until he notices the thing you are pointing at. The city lights are bright enough to notice your surroundings, but whatever you are pointing at seems to be blending into the brick wall.
As you two walk closer the thing is visible to the eye, you notice it’s a black cat.
“Oh my gosh! Scara it’s a cat!”
Your voice is soft as you squeal in excitement seeing the cat, it reminding you of your own cat that has been with you Scaramouche for almost a year. He watches the way you kneel to be able to pet the cat, the cat instantly lets you pet it as it purrs looking at you with bright eyes.
“[name], we should be going.”
“But scaraaaa! Look at the cat! We Can name it a scarameow.”
Scaramouche feels himself want to take that cat out of your grasp, he’s reminded of the time you kept begging him to name your own cat that stupid name “scarameow”
“No! We are not getting another cat.” Oh, but now he feels slightly guilty seeing your sad eyes as you let go of the cat. He lets out a scoff before looking down onto the cat and back at you, Scaramouche knows you both can’t take the cat in—especially since it’s a stray, but he Can at least try to make it a reality.
“…you know what I mean.”
Scaramouche leans down to the cat before placing his hand in front of the cat letting it sniff his hand. The cat leans into him making Scaramouche let out a soft gasp, not expecting the cat to lean closer.
“Oh my gosh! The cat loves you scara!”
“Not as much as I do though.”
Scaramouche groans, his face flushed as you lean your head onto his shoulder as you both look down onto the cat. Almost like it’s your own, the connection feels like you have owned this cat for years.
You don’t expect Scaramouche to pick up the cat, yet the cat doesn’t make any willful refusal as it purrs. The scene of your fiancé holding the cat makes your heart burn with affection, you feel your cheeks hurting from all the smiling.
“We should take it to a shelter.”
He turns to you an you feel your mood drop at the thought of having to leave the cat, but it is the best thing to do. But you still wish you could have the cat for your own.
“Oh…yeah you’re right.”
Scaramouche notices the way you seem to be upset at his answer, he can’t help but look away to grin at the cat. Knowing he has a little plan of his own to turn the frown upside down. Because soon you two will have a new addition to your small family. Of cats.
𓈒࣪ 𐐪𐑂 ─ Xiao
You read the instructions written on the box, trying to see if you have everything you need in order to bake the snack xiao wanted. It wasn’t a regular for you and xiao to cook or bake this late at night, you both usually would already be fast alseep by now. But for some reason something was different after tonight as neither of you could get sleep, which lead to xiao asking for you to come out to the kitchen with him.
“You have everything right love.”
His voice brings you back as you look down at xiao how is in between your legs as you sit on the counter, it’s obvious he’s tired but he still makes an effort to stand so he can hold you. His voice is quiet as you can hear the slight rasp in xiao’s voice as he leans in closer, his head leaning onto your shoulder as he takes the box out of your hands.
“So…you really want to bake brownies?”
“Mhm…yeah.”
Xiao also knows your love for sweets, so he knows that it will be worth it to bake the brownies.
You two start do what is written on the box xiao is trying to give in effort and you know he is trying—but the tiredness he is dealing with prevents him from much as he has slower movements. You know you both should probably go back to bed, but xiao continues to dismiss your concern for him.
“S’ fine [name], I don’t mind.”
Xiao goes back to mixing the ingredients as you had offered to do it, but he took up the job before you could. He feels his eyes grow heavy but they immediately become wide as he feels your arms wrap around his waist slowly. His face flushed into a deep shade of red, you take note as you smile seeing his mixing falter for a bit—until he continues to mix again.
You two stay like this until the ingredients are mixed, you grab the tray where you feel xiao take his hand take yours as he makes you both pour the bow mixed ingredients into the tray. You feel his hand on yours as you become more flustered, the moment a sweet one that made your heart thump.
You two plop down onto the couch as you have finally put the batch of brownies into the oven, you already forgot how long you have to wait for them to cook but you know xiao will remember and remind you. He has you lay on him as he closes his eyes, but he stays awake as you speak about anything that run through your mind.
He likes this. A lot. Xiao has always loved moments like these in which you both could just rewind with one another as you ramble on and on, but of course xiao doesn’t mind this as he can hear your voice that calms him down. It isn’t until you both hear the alarm that xiao placed on his phone that makes you both realize how lost in the moment you both were.
“So….what do you think?”
Your hand retracts from xiaos mouth as he stands eating the brownie that you had fed him, he can taste the sweetness of the brownie yet it isn’t too overpowering. It’s perfect he thinks. But it isn’t as perfect as how he got to spend this moment with you.
“It’s good, here.”
You don’t know what xiao could mean, cause he clearly doesn’t have a brownie in his hand that he can feed you. But your caught by surprise as xiao kisses you, leaving you in a shocked state. It’s quick yet you are able to taste the sweetness on xiaos lips, almost thinking it isn’t the brownie itself and rather xiao.
“What do you think?”
He now asks you, you look away flustered as xiao has seemed to become more bold with his actions. He wasn’t always this straight forward, especially with affection.
“I think I need another taste.”
As soon as you finish speaking, you find yourself back with your lips placed onto his as he kisses you once more.
