A Halloween weekend of fun!

Went to a 90s concert Friday night as Sandy and Danny from grease and had way to much fun with a hair. I did wet set pin curls and they worked much better than I would’ve thought. My hair was so short and bouncy!

And then Saturday I hosted a pumpkin carving and went a little over the top with snacks. But I love my pumpkin cheese ball and spider snickerdoodles. And obviously I also needed a bucket of Halloween candy.

My pony was also super good for her jump lesson earlier Saturday so got commemorated as Luna jumping the moon (it’s Halloween because crescent moon.)

I have never really considered myself close-minded with music, I’ve always been interested in discovering new bands and drawn to aggressive music, but it was very much I would get into one new major subgenre of metal or punk per year and go pretty hard on it but didn’t go much farther out of my comfort zones until I’d accidentally stumble upon another one. But late 2023 a YouTuber of all people recommended full of hell + nothing’s when no birds sang and said it was a grindcore/shoegaze fusion that had no right to work but ended up being the most beautiful and heaviest thing he’d ever heard. I was so taken with his love for this album that I had to listen to it just to see what it was like even though I didn’t particularly care for either genre. I ended up absolutely blown away and made the decision right then and there that I need to listen to more “weird” music and deliberately go out of my way to find the most abrasive and experimental shit I could find. So 2024 was very much me discovering so many new bands and extremely niche subgenres. I’m now both an avid Grindcore and shoegaze fan; I’ve been making lists of Avant garde black metal albums by trans women; I’m making my way through the flenser’s entire catalogue; I’ve gotten into cybergrind, blackened skramz, noisegrind, funeral doom, post-metal; I’ve listened to hour long stoner metal songs; I’ve listened to probably hundreds of modern hardcore punk and crossover thrash bands; I’ve been finding artists with 100 listeners top on streaming platforms; I’ve delved deeper into mainstream genres and have gotten into underground rap and jazz… 2025 is going to be a continuation let’s keep it going!
