The end of season 2!!!#(Granted: this season was nearly twice the length of season one.)#It's been a really fantastic season to draw for. So many iconic moments! It was a lot of work but I had a blast B*)#I also enjoyed experimenting more and more with my comic style. I'm growing as a comic artist bit by bit!#There is even a little bit of shadowing in this one for next season. As a treat. All the fun (and not heart breaking) scenes to come!#Comic talk time: Recently saw 12 angry men for first time and I love the coincidence of the themes aligning here.#They both touch upon the horror of judicial systems - in which the most persuasive argument wins and the truth is a nuisance.#All it takes is one person to stand against the crowd and say 'I do not know what is true. And that is reasonable doubt enough.'#When the majority is for condemning someone guilty - that in itself is persuasive enough.#One will set their mind to what the 'truth' is and refuse to see it any other way. That their perspective is the only correct one.#No one is born with a monopoly on the truth.#Everyone has biases and agendas. Some care not for the outcome - only that they can be on the convenient side.#Lan Wangji is putting everything on the line to say 'I'm not going to go with the majority vote.'#And that is a huge deal in a story that is so politically focused as MDZS is. Everything is a careful chess move to these sects -#and to not play the game is basically sacrificing everything you are and your families name. For some it is unthinkable.#And there is no doubt in LWJ's mind. He would stand there and lose everything if it means upholding justice.#More importantly - these two have each other's backs. The bond is unbreakable. This is the most ride or die I have seen two people be.

MORE DAD AANG, because it just keeps me going.

I have come to the conclusion in my head that airbenders literally have had to had the most angelic voices, they are the best singers by far compared to any nation and they don’t even have to try, it just comes with the territory. If an airbender decides to practice singing they can become even better, if they practice enough they can even use airbending to sing, which would allow them to do literally magic with their voices. So from this we can infer is that naturally Aang has to be a hell of a singer, even so he would much rather just stick with dancing (I have dancing headcanons for all the nations BTW). However when bumi is born and is about a few months old this baby can’t fall asleep, there is some nights that by some miracle he would fall asleep at his bedtime and sleep through the night, but he would wake up at four am BAWLING. On a normal night bumi just doesn’t stop crying and katara is absolutely exhausted she just came from one of the most stressing days in the clinics and she just can’t deal with bumi at the moment. Aang notices and tells katara to get some rest and that he will deal with bumi by himself, some time passes and bumi just doesn’t stop, there are moments where he calms down to then start crying his eyes out again, Aang has done absolutely everything, he is constantly carrying bumi around, he is giving him food, he is hugging and kissing bumi, he is talking to him, nothing seems to work. By this point aang has become numb to the cry’s and honestly at this point he is very tired and just decides to sit down with bumi in his arms and wait it out, I mean he eventually HAS to fall asleep, right? Well Aang gets pretty bored about just sitting down and hearing Bumi cry so he begins to hum to himself, he hummed this song he had heard an orchestra play at a work dinner. Unexpectedly baby bumi calms down a little when he hears aang hum, as Aang notices he begins to hum a little louder and notices bumi calmed down completely. He continues shocked when he sees bumi even begin to get sleepy, when he runs out of the melody he begins to sing songs that were sung to him at the temples when he was a little boy. To this bumi finally falls asleep.

LOST: Season One

#lost #abc lost #lost one cap per ep #this was a project i was gonna do anyways but the timing worked out that i could post the first one on the 20th anniversary!#this is one cap per ep every season. from left to right. and this is important: its not a cap that sums up each ep #its a cap that REPRESENTS each ep. the way i choose them varies every episode #sometimes its an utterly iconic moment. sometimes it reps the theme of the ep. or it hits with a theme of the character themselves #sometimes the cap i use won't even involve the character whose centric episode it is. trust me. this makes sense #anyways i'll give a good example: for outlaws i was so tempted to use a shot of the judgemental soulful gaze of the boar #or perhaps sawyer in the rain after he shot that man #but! i used that shot of sawyer's dads legs as sawyer is hiding under the bed. i feel it worthy because this moment. this scene #is literally a core part of sawyer. it's a defining moment of his backstory. of his character. so yeah. makes sense yeah?#anyways some eps had Too Much going on (lord i could make one of these for exodus part 1 alone) and some not enough #or well they DID but like lacked in caps that Hit in the way im thinking. thank heavens charlie shot ethan cuz i was worried about that ep #i was like ''aw shit what am i gonna use'' and then an iconic lost moment happened kjhfdsjkhfd #anyways. there are 25 eps in season one. so im really glad that the last ep contains one of the moment iconic visuals/moments in all of los #oh i should add that these caps are unedited. i did not fuck with the colours or saturation in any way #i found 'em and i pieced them together. this is harder than it sounds. i browsed through all the screencaps of every ep of season one #and i will do so the remaining five seasons #some of these were super easy like i knew what cap i'd be using before i even started (eg. do no harm. the moth. in translation)#but some took some real Thinking. and some eps even had several caps that would have worked. this has all been quite interesting #also yeah. y'all already know damn well what cap i'm using for the very last episode

This can't be a fic it has to use cinnamon toraphy to achieve my dream but if I was writing a deancas body swap episode I'd have them both in their respective new bodies in their own rooms really sheepish in front of the mirror. Split screen. Saying (or trying to get out, and only managing once, in Dean's case) "I love you" in their best approximation of the other's voice and then getting SO embarrassed that they have to hide from their own mirrors. And both interrupted by whoever their respective b-plot partner is (who's going 🤨)

Hey so, Agatha Ledge made the only camera in the Cosmos. It also happens to be explosive, making it incredibly deadly.

The camera is used at the Loxlee Gala every year, for a few years at least. Everyone knows they could die just to get their image taken, after all they used to lose half the crowd, but its a risk they willingly take.

Agatha Ledge has just been killing the rich Valorous. For "science". And they thank her for it.

She looked at the Trust, looked at her camera and decided, "this Breach nonsense is taking too long, I'll handle it my damn self."

#good friends who helped them in their early days as a hero #who they love more then anything #but fell into evil due to one key moment where they flew two close to the sun and got burned #and the heroes think they should have been there to stop it but they weren't and now they'll have to live with it forever #and spend so much time trying to fix them and it sometimes works for a moment only to be ripped away again #they even both have iconic origins that are super problematic and they've tried to fix but its sort of intrinsic to the character now #only Wonder Woman has the doomed Yuri angle that goes so hard #plus they're canonically sapphic #and Barbara is such a great and tragic character in rucka's rebirth run and I love her #wonder woman #diana of themyscira #barbara minerva #cheetah

Little idle thought I've been having recently but I think Cyparissus' story is very important for characterising Apollo and Apollo's love. It's so easy to think of love and loss as two ends of a spectrum, likewise, so often, death is seen as an ultimate and tragic end in love stories - something final and inescapably tragic, the only force that halts love by separating the lovers.

Cyparissus' story is... not that. Yes, the deer dies and one can conclude then that death is once more at the heart of separating two lovers, but I think Cyparissus specifically requesting to die, specifically begging Apollo to let him grieve forever even after Apollo has done his best to help Cyparissus move on from the accident and Apollo letting him is a powerful thing.

Because Apollo not only puts Cyparissus' wishes over his own, he's also able to see past his own building grief to immortalise Cyparissus in such a way that both grants him his wish and allows other people to glorify Cyparissus as well! And I think such a beautiful thing is something criminally overlooked!

It's become something of a joke that 'all Apollo's lovers turn into plants' but from a functional perspective, flowers are the most brilliant way to keep the spirit of a beloved thing alive. Flowers are like stars - as long as there are humans, humans will always contemplate the nature of flowers and as the god of poetry and song, Apollo creating opportunities for his beloved mortals to be remembered eternally even if they never seized glory in the traditional way is such an intimate and beautiful thing. Even then, Cyparissus is elevated to a similar status as Daphne with Apollo's actions - not merely a plant or flower but one that specifically symbolises him, one that is extremely fragrant and beloved by him. Just as Daphne's laurels were synonymous with glory and victory, Cyparissus' cypress became a emblematic of grief and remembrance. Even today, thousands of years later, people still view cypress trees as mourning trees and plant them in cemeteries and use the ash in incense burnt in remembrance of others. How's that for Apollo keeping his word.

#ginger rambles #I think we should talk more about how Apollo's ability to immortalise people into those coveted halls of memory is so often done out of love #and how it is the closest many of his beloved mortals will ever get to godhood but even that is leagues better than the hundreds of warriors #and kings and scholars who worked for glory their whole lives only to be forgotten and lost among the sea of time and history #And then you have Daphne and Hyacinthus and Coronis Cyparissus and Evadne even Branchus whose affair is marked with the sprawling arms #or trees and forests - who would ever say they were unloved?#Daphne is eternally interesting to me btw because like idk what anyone says it doesn't matter that Apollo was hexed to love her by Eros #Even if what Apollo felt wasn't 'true' love he did feel true regret and made real and true penitence. Apollo literally spent #the rest of his immortal days wearing Daphne's laurels and making her his symbol until she became so synonymous with gods and glory that she #became symbolic of the gods and their kings themselves! Like!! It's obscure knowledge now that gods like Zeus and Poseidon had their own #preferred plants to wear as wreath crowns because laurel-crown is so iconic as the Look of a greek god #how could you not see that as love? even if it's retroactive? Apollo worked so hard to give her the glory he robbed from her and people #still choose to focus on the chase + transformation and “oh well Apollo and Daphne wasn't a love story it was assault/a curse!!”#my brother in Christ it counted to Apollo so it counts to me too #anyway just something I've been thinking about #apollo #cyparissus #daphne #greek mythology #ginger chats about greek myths

little update!

hello!! I hope everyone has been well c: in my time away from this tumblr account, I've graduated from college, gone on vacation, and found a job! but I've also gotten back into writing a bit, and I've really missed interacting with my friends' fics and creations on here.

sooooo... I'll be coming back to tumblr! I'm taking some time to rebrand and set up a little return/birthday event, but if everything goes according to plan, I'll be back officially on the 17th of August!
