tsats vague review and rating

book info: 51 chapters, ≈460 pages, took me 6 hours to read traditionally but that includes all the pacing i did. main themes of acceptance and letting go of the dead and such

i will tell u now the book starts out so unpromising but i swear to god it gets better.

it is not a linear path straight to hell and back out they very much so pass go and collect 200 dollars the reality warping was so insane and the trogs were so great and they were so silly all together. tartarus was so weirdly visceral and theres a character trapped within it that actually kind of raised some kind of dread in me. a couple gross descriptions but thats what we’re all about baby!!!! overall it was not actually always in ur face about solangelo loving eachother and was super plot centric.

a couple points r taken off cause there was a lot of wasted potential, conflicts would start up and give way to the possibility of deeper character exploration but would be dropped a couple pages later, and it also became VERY preachy at the end. additionally the pacing during the first 5-6 chapters seemed kind of off (starts of slow, then speeds up astronomically, then slows then speeds up again, but afterwards its fine). then theres something to be said about the only non-binary character i can recall being a demon, but it wasn’t outright malicious.

overall solid 8.9/10. if you dont accept silliness with open arms this book is NOT for you
