sometimes i forget people didn't read the books and don't know Illario was extremely dumbed down in Veilguard, and i see takes and i have a double take like "well no that's not true he's not l--" and then i remember that i have a total different understanding of Illario than someone who only played the game because I consider Book!Illario better and have a very complicated headcanons to try to connect Book!Illario and Game!Illario together but if i had a choice i'd disregard Game!Illario in a fucking heardbeat

I feel like it depends on how long Lucanis was in the torture prison before Illario learned he was alive. I imagine if Illario found out within maybe a month or two of Lucanis's imprisonment he would consider trying to act the hero by saving Lucanis. The more time passed however the more Illario would see it as a mercy to convince Zara to kill him. After all, how long did it take her to put Spite into him? It wasn't the demon she wanted, he didn't want his cousin to be an abomination so why not just kill the Demon of Vyrantium? Let his body wash up on the shore and convince Caterina he was well and truly dead.

Maybe Zara kept it hidden because she knew on some level that she'd never have Illario's loyalty fully without Lucanis being dead. For all his honeyed words and their supposed affection if Lucanis was alive she'd forever rank second in his true loyalty. I'm also a fan of the hc she wanted to eventually put a spirit into Illario and perhaps make envy out of him.

When Illario talks about how Caterina didn’t tell him Lucanis was alive, he suggests that she didn’t tell him because she thought he would do something rash to try and save Lucanis. While I think the more likely truth is that Caterina suspected Illario, and Illario knows it and is just obviously not going to say that to us, it did make me wonder what he would have done had he found out sooner. I can’t imagine Illario would be okay just knowingly leaving his cousin to suffer in the torture demon prison, right? Would he have done something rash to try and save him if he'd known?

So I will be running a Death Appreciation Week from Thursday 18th April to Thursday 25th April which will be a celebration of all things Death of the Endless!

Yesterday, I made a post about the Cobra Kai subreddit mod controlling the conversation about the SA. They were gaslighting in their comments about why they were stopping fans from claiming that Zara SA'd Robby.

I took down the post this morning after seeing Hayden's tweet:

This is a fact that so many of us are pointing out to Hayden. He is honestly a disgusting person for saying what he said.

Robby was clearly portrayed as not being able to give consent. It doesn't matter that he blamed himself afterwards, as in that doesn't absolve Zara and make him at fault.

Although Jon is admitting that he agrees with her definition of consent, which implies that he is agreeing that Robby didn't give his consent, this is a meager step in fixing the damage and hurt that they have caused. It was a private dm that she had made into a story; not a public statement made by any of them about this.

Not only was assault blatantly portrayed. Robby was blamed for it, and it was framed as cheating. Now, Hayden has essentially denied that consent is needed and that this would be assault only if Zara had done one of 3 specific things. Fuck him!

Their entire narrative is framed in such a fucked up way, and now this!

This is a mess. They don't plan to address the assault and claimed it wasn't one. Now, they have to backtrack...

But they still won't fix it in canon. They won't make changes to Part 3 to fix this. It's highly unlikely. The person on ig even said that she is an SA victim who is still seeking justice and is now so upset not only because of Hayden's comments but also because Part 3 won't give Robby justice and Zara will get away with it.

For so long, I've been calling out all the neglect and abuse Robby is subjected to. "See something, say something." I don't care what the writers intended. Like in this SA situation, I hold them accountable for what they portray. It's their responsibility to understand the shit they put out into the world.

As much as I hate all this, this is finally something that those fucked-up writers have to answer for. Fans are pissed off and skewering them for this.

I'm curious what they'll do next. Can they really pretend that this didn't happen? That they can market Part 3 without properly addressing this situation? Or that Part 3 won't be scrutinized for not addressing the assault and maintaining the claim that he is at fault and cheated although he was clearly assaulted?

Hayden's comments make it impossible for them not to address the assault in canon, but they're already done with post-production of Part 3.

This is a shitstorm for them, and frankly, it's about time they be held to the fire about something.

am i onto something here. thinking about the technicalities of lucanis and spite, how that happened, and the fact that spite used to be a spirit of determination allegedly. zara renata hated him so much, was so determined to get vengeance on him, that she tried to use a loophole to invent a way to allow a demon to possess a non-mage (and it worked… kind of)

the concept of determination is so integral to lucanis’s character and story. his determination to always finish a job. zara’s determination to get him possessed by a demon by any means possible. his and spite’s determination to not become what zara wanted and to maintain their individuality. perseverance, not giving up, even when your mind and body are being put through hell and you might never see the sun again. he has a contract, and by the maker he will find a fucking way to see it through.

I mentioned this in an ask on Thursday, that II also had a YouTube channel. Unfortunately all but one of the videos are lost to time. Reunion

"Rook, is that really you?" "It's me."

This render has been sitting basically finished, just un-rendered and un-edited in my folders for WEEKS now, which is a crime, because it's fucking adorable.

Rook finally got to see his former captain and mentor, Zara, again for the first time in 3 years, and it was a very bittersweet reunion. She ended up revealing that she was aware of every single things that Wolf was doing to him during his time on the Sea Snake, but was unable to do anything about it because if she or anyone under her employ were to attempt to rescue him, Wolf would have killed him. As it turns out, she gave up sailing in order to protect him, lest Wolf take any movement of hers as a threat.

Here's my write-up of the first part of the scene:

And of course the reunion was then interrupted by the arrival of a giant snake which proceeded to eat Jay, the former surgeon's apprentice on Zara's ship and Rook's only friend prior to meeting the party. When he showed up Zara had been about to explain something very important to Rook (why Wolf hates her so much, and why she went after Rook), and after weeks of delays and fighting the giant snake, Rook (and I) finally get to find out the truth on Saturday.

Zara's been hinting that it's something Not Good and that she's worried about his reaction, but luckily for her, Rook would forgive her literally anything. And I do mean anything. She was the first person in his life who was ever truly kind to him, and she means more to him than any other person in his life. And this is the same man who tried to tell the BBEG of the entire campaign that he "wasn't that person anymore", after only knowing him for a matter of months. (In his defense he didn't know he was the BBEG.) In comparison, he'd been sailing with Zara for 6 years before he was captured.

Oh, and she's also going to give him her old ship, the Tide Breaker, and name him captain, which is going to be a bit of a mindfuck for him, given his intense guilt over Jay and like 18 other bad things that have happened to the party recently. Augh, I can't wait.

Okay so I have a theory/assumption

First off I will state the fact that I have always hated Tobias Hawthorne for what he did to his grandsons (absolutely messing up their psyche), but I have been wondering for a while what happened to make him change the way he “parented/raised” his grandsons. Like he treated/raised his own children (even Nash for that matter) differently than he did Grayson, Jameson, and Xander. For example, he said in his letter from The Hawthorne Legacy that he would raise the next generation differently than how he raised Zara, Skye, and Toby.

But… if you see in the letter he also said that he came close to finding Toby once but found something else instead.🤔

I THINK IT WAS ALICE!!!

So my theory is that whatever happened when he found Alice or whatever she asked of him ultimately changed the way he raised his grandsons. I think he realized that whatever Alice was up to, or whatever she was involved with was very dangerous (that was why he pushed his grandsons to be better and stronger willed).

In the Exclusive Edition of The Inheritance Games Tobias says “In this life, to be what I am, to do what I have done, to have all that we have…Sacrifices have to be made. Things get broken.” But then he goes on to say “Never forget the broken things, the ones you leave behind. Clean up the shards, because when you don’t….People get hurt.”

(I believe he must be again talking about Alice and whatever she’s mixed up in)

Furthermore, while I was rereading The Grandest Game Odette says that Alice randomly revealed to Tobias that she was alive around 15 years ago. So I was doing the math and Grayson (who is either 21 or 22 in the Grandest Game) would have been about 6 or 7 when Alice came to see Tobias.

So I did a little bit more digging and in one of the chapters in The Brothers Hawthorne there is a flashback “Eleven years and 10 months ago” (which is about 12 years ago) in the flash back Jameson is turning 8 the next day and Grayson will be turning 9 the day after that. They both had to show their completed challenges to Tobias, and they were going to show him their skill that they had cultivated. In this chapter Jameson says that the old man would make him and Grayson fight each other to show off what they had learned.

The highlighted part also says that they had been practicing martial arts for the past 3 years which means that Tobias started the whole “Invest, Cultivate, Create” thing around this time, which also would mean that Grayson would be around 6 years old and Jameson would be around 5.

THIS IS AROUND THE EXACT SAME TIME THAT ALICE SHOWED UP!!

We know that something shifted around the time Grayson and Jameson were young kids because it said in the first few books that when Nash was a little kid he wasn’t really raised the same way compared to the way his younger brothers were. So he would have been around 12 years old when Tobias started the whole “invest, cultivate, create” thing which I don’t think he ever really cared for.

Basically what I’m saying is that as much as I absolutely hate Tobias Hawthorne, I think I hate Alice more. I think that Tobias was trying to help make sure that his grandsons would be taught how to protect each other and be pushed to the extremes to see the world differently to prepare them in case they got caught up in whatever Alice is involved with. But he did it in a very awful way and ruined his grandsons psyche, which I absolutely despise him for.
