having a salary is weird because i’m still broke, but able to pay my bills. it’s not a great salary, so like i can buy myself some treats, but i can’t do anything fancy or really save anything because regular life happenings (such as my fucking car) regularly put a dent into whatever i do build up.
so sometimes i’ll make a joke about money, either out of habit from being poor literally my whole life up until like a year ago, or just because i have a bad financial week, and it does not land and i’m like
😬 why did i speak.

Oh boy
(It's not that interesting, it's just a personal rant).
(BUT - )
Before I had a car, when I was living in a larger city, the bus or walking was the only way I could do errands and I was fortunate enough to live in a city that at least had a functioning bus system, unlike the town I'm living in now. Driving in a busy city is not only difficult but exhausting, even more tiring than regular driving, and taking the bus really didn't push me back that far in terms of time. It was really nice not to have to drive places, and even if I'd had a car I would have chosen to take the bus, not only to save on personal fuel costs but because even the added inconvenience of getting to the bus stops and taking a longer time to do an errand weigh much less than how much I fucking loathe driving and paying for car costs.
I live in a much smaller town now, with no good public transport system; it's either you have a car or you bike it or you don't leave home.
Because of traffic I can get to the grocery store on a bike in less time than it takes to drive there, and it costs me absolutely nothing. I really, really wish that our town had a public transit system because there are so many communities within our town that are largely cut off from necessities because of how remote they are, and there are a huge number of people who cannot afford cars or can't drive because of license issues or disabilities, and therefore have harder times holding down jobs or taking care of themselves if they don't have a friend or family member who can drive for them.
When cities are designed with only car culture in mind, it limits what people can do within that area and who can do it. Cars are considered more convenient on the whole simply because we've designed our cities to be unfriendly toward any other form of transport, which is stupid because those forms of transport take up significantly less space and waste less energy. If you assume that a bus will hold ~50 people, then one bus can eliminate around eleven cars from the road, if those cars are each carrying four people. That equals less traffic, which equals less gas, less idling, and less carbon emissions. It's been proven for a while that buses and trains are more energy-efficient and environmentally healthy on the whole than cars.
AND it's cheaper! Not only are you having to pay insurance and taxes personally for a car, but you have to buy gas as well. My car costs about ~$30 to fill up, at the current gas prices. If I drive to work and errands then I have to fill up about once a week. That's $120 a month, and $1500 a year. Let's say that insurance, which is required by law, is around $700 per year. The majority of people in the USA have their own vehicle. That's a lot of money per person per year. That's not even counting repair costs, monthly car payments, etc.
A 30-day bus pass can cost anywhere from $40-$100, which is still cheaper than buying gas, and it doesn't have a limit of how many times you can ride during that thirty days. Also, most public transits will have discounts for students, low-income folks, disabled or elderly people, and even free fare for certain passengers at certain times.
Reliable public transit is people-friendly, environmentally-friendly, and economy-friendly. I'm not saying that cars aren't convenient for some things, because they are, but we've done this to ourselves in making our cities and towns so unwelcome toward any other form of transit, to the point where we no longer see or understand how daily life could be improved for so many people if we had popularized reliable transport systems that were not so reliant on individual consumption.
The anti-car culture on this website is so fucking annoying. Like, sorry I want to be able to get around without having to spend two hours taking three buses. Sorry I want to be able to go grocery shopping in the winter without having to lug heavy bags home through the snow on a fucking bike

1831 Saturday 8 October
7 10/.. 11
Finish but dull morning and Fahrenheit 66 1/2°. now at 8 1/4 a.m. - Took Cameron and went down at 8 35/.. to the beach, and to the fisherman's house there, to get someone to shew me up the south side of the chine by the private path the fisherman has made, and keeps in repair for the use of strangers and others who choose to pay for it - great part of the path is washed away every winter, for the cliffs are but sand which easily falls away - it began to rain at 8 3/4, yet not heavily, so sauntered quietly up the chine, really a pretty little winding cleft - rather wooded on the north side in the first and wide part, but nothing can remain on the south side, too steep - the willows and stuff they plant there sink down to the little brook which swollen in winter washes all away - General Vineys pretty white washed 3 gable-ended cottage seems as seen from the bottom to terminate the top of the chine, but the cleft winds off there to the south and narrows into a gorge just wide enough at the bottom for the little stream which at the end falls down 35 feet in a pretty little cascade of one jet, which Cameron thought like the cascade she had seen in the vallíe de Lys near Baguires de Luchon - ascended a flight of steps up the sand-rock, and the woman let us out of the chine thro' a little door near the top of the cascade and 40 or 50 yards of a dirty public lane led us back to the village close to the Inn - The little bay of Shanklin is pretty but the high dark cliffs are merely sand - one sees at a little distance north the great chalk head forming the south boundary of Sandown bay - walked a little in the village of Shanklin, really pretty and picturesque - breakfast at 9 20/.. milk - Mrs. Williams herself brought me my sand eels - said 'the great Dr. Clark' sent several invalids there - one family there now who could only live the winters at Shanklin or in the south of France - my wonder, the air of Shanklin seeming to me very damp, seemed quite unintelligible to Mrs. Williams  who said the air was so healthy and delightful, there was nothing like it in any other part of the island -
Tumblr media
Shanklin Chine c1910 [Image Source]
Raining - a hopeless sort of day - off from Shanklin at 10 1/2 fine view of Sandown bay - Sandown merely a very scattered village of a few neat cottages and fisherman's houses - Brading harbour beautiful piece of water at 11 and at 11 10/.. the neat little town of Brading very nice old church - the bell was tolling and the great door in the tower open for a funeral procession walking slowly in the rain - some pretty gentlemens cottages as we approached Ryde, and very pretty ones close to the town - not meaning to stay, passed Jelf's hotel and drove down to the Pier hotel (Hale) 2nd best but large good looking house, close to the pier - a great convenience - where alighted at 12 -
It had been tolerably fair the last 1/2 hour - pretty drive from Shanklin to Ryde - the milk last night and this morning and sand eels probably the great quantity of the former too heavy for me, that I had nodded even as we drove along - but as it still rained so as to make walking out hopeless, threw myself on the sofa the moment of arriving and slept till 2 40/.. - then almost fair - merely damp and a little small rain, but could see the opposite coast - more than we could do on arriving - could not then see to the end of the pier -
Out at 2 3/4 - walked to the end of the pier said to be 3/4 mile long - a very fine one - paid 2d. [pence] for going along it - the steamers come alongside the end of it, and one embarks very conveniently - a government frigate and sloop and a large merchantman off Spithead - Sir Edward Coddrington's fleet expected there - not clear enough to see Gosport or Portsmouth very distinctly - could just distinguish Southport Castle - an intelligent sailor advised me not to see the dock yard blockhouse etc. on a wednesday or Saturday because the men not at work on those days - only now employed 5 days a week - the prisoners, convicts (700 there) every man of whom cost Government considering the expense of the establishment, 4/. a day, did a great deal of the work - but government could get it done by labourers at 2/. a day - the view of Ryde from the pier, beautiful - the water - the town circling round its edge, and creeping up the hill interspersed with trees, singularly pretty - large handsome houses, and pretty gentlemens cottages - Jelf's hotel conspicuous - in passing it, driving down union street, it seemed merely a good looking hotel - viewed from the pier, it is the beginning of a row of handsome houses standing on a nice green terrace, and must have some  excellent rooms looking over the lower part of the town on to the water -
Tumblr media
Modern day Union Street, Ryde [Image Source]
3/4 hour at the utmost would have landed us at Portsmouth (steam packets at 3, and 5 p.m. and earlier and later) but the weather was not tempting - so determined to return to Cowes - it had begun to rain again pretty smartly at 3 - off at 3 40/.. from which time rain abated in about 1/2 hour - pretty drive - wootton bridge pretty picturesque little place - the water pretty - a mill and some 1/2 dozen houses - the Newport mail (but not red - like a common coach) by Jelf and company waiting there as we passed -
At Newport at 5 10/.. - the lace manufactory at this end, near the town - a good looking large building as much like a gentlemans house as a manufactory - having regretted the finding myself at Newport instead of East Cowes, turned off, right, at 5 10/.. to the latter - very much prettier drive than it would have been from Newport - 13 miles from Ryde to west Cowes by wootton bridge and Newport, 9 to ditto by wootton bridge and East Cowes but turning off at Newport made the distance 2 miles longer or 15 miles - but repaid by the pretty drive and by driving along the park of Norris Castle (where the duchess of Kent and princess Victoria are) and thus getting a rapid peep en passant at the stables etc. like a castle of themselves, and then at the castle house, a squary sort of irregularly towered building that made a better model for Shibden than Lulworth, built of rough stone that would not be expensive - get drawings of this castle or see it again some time or other -
Tumblr media
Norris Castle in East Cowes [Image Source]
At the ferry at 5 55/.. - crossed (never got out of the car) just we were in 5 mins. [minutes] (tide coming in - almost low water) and back at our Fountain Inn at 6 10/.. - too little light, or crossing the ferry would have been very pretty - Cowes or Ryde are the only 2 places in the island to live near - and give me a castle not a cottage - tea at 6 40/.. - George came in to say the reform bill was thrown out by the peers by a majority of 41 - the news came from Southampton this evening - Got this mornings Times - Kept my tea things and sat over them skimming over the paper till 8 50/.. then till 10 1/4 wrote all the above of today - Tolerably fair from about 4 1/4 p.m. rain all the rest of the day from about 8 3/4 a.m. with little intermission - Fahrenheit 65 1/2° now at 10 1/4 p.m., and going up to my room -

It has been an absolutely insane few months 🤦🏽‍♀️ I swear everything that could go wrong did.
1. My dad decided to retire, which meant the insanely great insurance that I had was about to no longer be mine. Which wouldn’t be a huge issue any other time except that I’m freaking pregnant 😂 so we panicked, checked all our options, and realized instead of a baby only costing us $300 it was about to cost us $11000+🙃. We discovered something called COBRA which allows you to extend the coverage you recieved from your job for 18months. The catch is that my dads company paid 95% of the cost of our insurance. So instead of him paying $100 a month for my insurance with his companies help, I would now be paying $1100 to continue that coverage. Unfortunately for us that’s the best option so now everything I was saving a month for after Addie was born is now being redirected to paying for insurance 😫
2. Chris has his work truck broken into. They stole almost $700 worth of his tools and a tool his company owned that was worth $400. Which was made worse because we had literally just placed an order to get security cameras the day before🤦🏽‍♀️
3. I continuously kept locking my keys in my car because my baby hates me and has turned me into an idiot. So I had to pay for multiple locks smiths and was late to work so many times 😑
4. Opie ate an entire 6 months supply of her flea and tick medication. Which caused her to overdose and be placed on seizure watch. The side effects were all neurological, which means possibility of siezures, twitching, shaking, loss of bowel control, and a few other fun things. So I had to take time off of work to do that and make sure she didn’t die.
5. Two days after Opies overdose I rear ended a woman! We weren’t going fast at all and I had already slowed down, she just slowed down sooner than I expected her too🙄 my car wasn’t too banged up but I definitely needed some repair. The whole 45 minutes we were there with the police this woman was completely fine, smoking, joking, talking on the phone, you name it. But two days later I got a fucking call she hired an attorney and was suing me for fucking injuries 😂. So that was suuuper fun
6. And during all of this the people from the COBRA offices managed to place my address in fucking Arkansas. Which would be whatever but to access the account you need to verify your address. And to be able to change your address you had to verify the current address on file, which we didn’t know and they wouldn’t tell us😂 so an entire month goes by speaking with multiple people and doing multiple things to get this damn address changed, I finally got ahold of someone who knew what the fuck they were doing and changed the address for me 🤦🏽‍♀️
7. And for some crazy nesting reason I have now decided it’s a great time to buy a house 😂 we are currently talking with a broker to find out what we qualify for and have a list of houses that we’d like to see when we get qualified.
8. And to top it off my crazy ass has been sleeping walking and doing chores in the middle of the night 😂 which explains why I’ve been so ducking exhausted 😂

Whining. Very long, personal whining.
Reblog and I will block you.
My sister and my parents live about 7 hours apart--a driveable distance, not too bad. We live about a 24 hour drive from my parents, over 30 hours from my sister and her family--it’s driveable (we’ve done it plenty), but definitely far enough it falls into the ‘better to fly’ category when you start adding up gas, probably a hotel, wear on the car, time off work, etc. They also all have houses, whereas we moved from two-bedroom apartments to a one-bedroom a couple of years ago because we can no longer afford a two-bedroom with rents in our city. So it’s not surprising that most gatherings take place in their part of the country.
By most, I mean that in the ten years we have lived here, no member of my family has ever visited us or made any kind of significant plan to do so.
We are also, by far, the poorest members of the family. My parents are pretty comfortably middle-class retirees, my sister and her family are quite well off. We are struggling to find places we can afford to rent and desperately need a second car but will never be able to afford one. Not to mention the six digits of student loans as >8% interest rates (and those are government loans, y’all).
This year, we have had thousands of dollars in unexpected car repairs. Expenses we count ourselves as very lucky to be able to pay, and expenses which were also not optional. This is America, and not coastal America. You need a car.
If we fly at non-peak times of the year, taking the cheapest possible flight no matter how inconvenient, tickets are around $700-$800 round trip for us both. Nothing about the holiday season is a cheap time to fly (except, sometimes, Christmas Day and the last flight on Christmas Eve. Those are golden). Additionally, there are airport transportation costs, pet sitters, and then all the other things that happen when you travel, like it being a special occasion and people wanting to go out to eat. On an ordinary trip, we drop more than $1000. Christmas, we’re looking at spending more than a month’s rent before we buy a single present.
We just cannot do it this year. In the most technical possible way, I guess we could. There is, technically, enough money in savings for it. But it would be incredibly irresponsible.
Now, this year my cousin, who lives near my sister, just bought a giant new house. All the family is going to be gathering, it will be a huge, multi-day celebration split between the two houses.
We simply cannot do it. My parents and sister have each offered us a couple of hundred to try to offset travel costs, thinking it would get things down to a reasonable level. And all it does is carry home to me how much they don’t get it. It would still be well over a thousand dollars. We have spent every penny we managed to save up this year and more on emergencies. I’m sorry if we’re ruining the holidays for everyone. Every single time we’ve ever come to see you, it’s been incredibly expensive, but we’ve made it happen. We’ve made sacrifices every year for this. And you just don’t seem to get that. I have begged to celebrate Christmas a couple weeks before or after for years. No one cared, no one listened.
It is frustrating because my sister just seems to completely lack perspective. “Oh, it’s been expensive. I get that--it’s been an expensive year for us to, buying the new car and having three vacations this summer. It really adds up, doesn’t it?”
I wouldn’t know. We don’t take vacations.
It’s even more frustrating with my parents. Dad’s a farm kid. They didn’t have a lot of money when he was young, and my parents spent the first decade of their marriage in similar financial straits, but near family and in much cheaper areas. But when I was expressing my frustration about how impossible it is to save up for a car that works, his advice was remembering how terrible it was to be in that spot of life and “You have to break out of the cycle as quickly as you can.” That’s not advice. That’s not helpful.
I don’t have a point. Or an idea. I’m just glad I have an office, because while I know they meant well, the phone call I got offering $400 towards travel costs just made everything so very much worse and with a closed door and my hair in my face, I don’t think anyone can tell I’m just standing at my desk crying because I’m so hurt and frustrated by all of this, and I have no idea what will make it better aside from either a lot more money or people deciding that it would be nice to come see us for a change, and I know neither of those things will ever happen.
I don’t know why I’m posting this on Tumblr either. It won’t help anything, it creates the risk someone in my family will see, but I’m just so frustrated.

Go ahead and complain about me closing at 7pm on a Saturday. I know it's recent. It's an inconvenient, abrupt change because they cut that out of my pay. Now the raise they gave me doesn't matter. Just the other day I had $700 of my saving go towards car repairs and now I don't have that little extra in my paycheck to save up for next time. Yes the car is 14 years old, it's starting to fall apart but I can't afford a new one. The only used ones I can afford are even older because I got my car during that great recession. Like so many other people still holding on to old cars from that era, I can't afford anything newer, used or not.
So yes, please, please complain that I had to close at 7pm instead of 8pm, complain that they don't let me stay over time and off the clock to help you. Complain that I didn't smile right, that I looked miserable and tired and unwilling to help you because I just wanted to go home. So rude.
As if anyone really gives a shit about your personal problems.

Motorcycle insurance?
my motorcycle insurance policy is about to expire next month, so im just looking into companies/experiences to see if i should switch (since getting quotes isnt as easy as they make it sound!!). ive been with progressive for a year and pay 93$ a month. i was honest when i joined and said i had less than a year of experience-- i'd literally learned how to ride right before signing up with them, though because i learned with one of those motorcycle safety courses, i got a small discount with them. so, now, i have a year of experience as well as a year of owning my bike (which i paid for in full and am the sole owner of). i'm 20 year old female, have a kawasaki ninja 500r, use it for pleasure purposes. my driving history, unfortunately, is not pristine. in 2009 i got a speeding violation for MORE than 10mph over the speed limit (that was in my car), and last month, sadly, i was in an accident that was my fault (also in car) (no injuries). i havent had any infractions on the bike. i have a motorcycle endorsement on my license and, as i said, passed a motorcycle safety foundation course. i got a quote with geico, and their prices were really just obscene. so, basically, i just want to hear from other ppl who deal with the same thing. how much do you pay for bike insurance? have any good recommendations for companies? what companies are known for being a little bit more forgiving about accidents, seeing as i just had one (again, in my car, not my bike, but i know it matters). any tips, etc? i know being young and not having a lot of experience are not on my side, just thought id try :)""
Did you know that you save money if you have higher prior limits on insurance?
Okay, this seems to be a secret in the auto insurance world, but my insurance agent told me that if you say you have higher limits when switching to a new company your rates will be $200-$300 dollars lower! I didn't realize this would make a difference. For instance, I said in the beginning I had $25,000/$50,000 (liability) my rate was $1400 per year, then I took my old policy into the office and I really had prior limits of $100,000/300,000, and my rate when down to $1282 just for having higher limits at the other company.""
Why did my car insurance premium increase?
This seems to happen every six months for no rhyme or reason. NO tickets, NO accidents, NO claims, same location, same number of miles driven, etc, etc. Yet, my premium increases from $370 per six months to $420, which forces me to switch to a different insurance company that offers a quote inline with the previous insurer's rate. However, after six months with the new insurer, the premium increases again and I'm forced to switch insurers yet again. What gives?""

Halls Creek (WA), 11-13 June
Friday, 11 June
After such a rugged few days, we decided to have a rest day – but didn’t get much rest. I went off straight after breakfast to find the mechanic we used last time we were here. I never found him, but I think his former premises are now the local Toyota dealer. We didn’t think there was a Toyota place in town, but within an hour, our tyre was repaired and our traction control problem was remedied. They attached their magic Toyota computer to the car and ran all the diagnostics and reset everything so it is now fully functional again. A strange condition still gets reported on the system though – something about a ‘glass error’. We don’t know what it is, but the mechanic thinks it might be something to do with the spare wheels obscuring the reversing camera since we moved them onto the back of the car. That’s no issue, because we haven’t used that camera (except for occasional parking in tight places) for several years.
I also found a tiny, very strange, hardware shop where I bought a bolt to fix the extension mirror and while all of this was happening, Heather had been washing and cleaning back at the van.
One of the other ‘damages’ along the track had been the BrakeSafe controller in a cupboard near the foot of the bed. (It is a device to apply emergency braking to the caravan if it ever gets accidentally separated from the car.) All four of the retaining screws had worked loose and there isn’t anything solid to screw them back into. It is floating loose in the cupboard, but I have replaced the screws (most of which screw into nothing much) and we have stuffed an old cushion in there to stop it from bouncing around and pulling the wires loose.
We also discovered that the air conditioner doesn’t work. Everything looks OK from inside, but I haven’t climbed onto the roof to see if something has shaken loose up there. Almost certainly, that is the problem, but I think I will let someone else address that one. Maybe in Katherine?
In addition to all of that, I caught up on some of the inevitable paperwork that accumulates when one of off-grid: paying bills, responding to email, returning phone calls and so on. Heather was doing likewise and we certainly filled our ‘rest day’ with everything but rest.
Saturday, 12 June
We continued ‘resting’ in and around the van. I walked around the camping area a couple of times looking at the birds, but we spent a lot of the day planning and arranging the next leg/s of the trip.
We think we have arranged a big day tomorrow, driving more than 300 kilometres south to Fitzroy Crossing and thence out to Geikie Gorge – and then back again – about 700 clicks for the day. We won’t take the van of course so we looked at staying down there overnight until we saw the cost of staying in a workman’s room – the cheapest option at the Resort at well over $200, plus all the add-ons including a very expensive restaurant meal. Fitzroy Crossing has an extremely bad reputation due to ‘aboriginal issues’. When we wanted to stay in the caravan park 4 years ago, the owner talked us out of it – as an example, people who had stayed there had been woken during the night to find a bunch of locals inside their van ransacking it – and he had some other colourful stories to embellish it. It is certainly a scary place and staying overnight still seems pretty risky.
So why is an hour at Geikie Gorge worth a 700-kilometre drive? My Mum visited there with Dad in 1970 and it seemed to be the highlight of her life ever after. She was obviously impressed beyond words and spoke of her love of the place for the rest of her life. We tried to visit it 4 years ago and got to within 100 kilometres, but a broken axle on the caravan prevented it. Hopefully this time, I will get to understand a little more of Mum’s obsession with the place. Heather spent hours on the phone trying to book a cruise up the Gorge – and we may even have stayed at the overpriced Resort if the promises on their website had proved true. They were touting an all-day tour of the Gorge, the town and a series of otherwise inaccessible aboriginal sites, but when she tried to book, she was told that they don’t do that anymore – but hadn’t bothered taking it off their website. As it stands, we have an unconfirmed online booking and the hope that by driving 700 kilometres in a day, we can cruise the Gorge for an hour and hopefully add something else to the trip. (The Resort subsequently proved absolutely unreliable on other grounds too. They advertise the availability of fuel with prices about 15 cents cheaper than anywhere for 500 kilometres. Prices are updated hourly on PetrolSpy and other online price monitors – but when we got there, we saw a sign saying that they don’t offer fuel. When I complained, they said they just haven’t updated their website since they stopped selling fuel a few years ago!)
We also booked a couple of other things – or at least we hope we did. It took several hours of research and phone calls, but I now hope to have the car serviced in Katherine next Friday morning and then get the air conditioner operational on the following Monday – and maybe a couple of other minor repairs. We have also made three tentative bookings in Burketown on 29 and 30 June and 1 July. Hopefully, the 2000-kilometre route we have plotted out, including almost 800 clicks on gravel is achievable in that schedule – and then we will mosey down the east coast visiting 7 (or maybe 8 or 9) groups of friends along the way – and then it will be Lightning Ridge for the next formal adventure.
Sunday, 13 June
We have been in the van most of the day. We drove around town just to have a look this morning and then bought a few necessities at IGA. We also put a bit of fuel in the car – it is quite a bit more expensive here than Fitzroy Crossing so will fill up down there tomorrow.
We had an online catchup with some of the kids during the afternoon, but otherwise, we have been writing for our blogs most of the rest of the day. I did a couple of small maintenance jobs and Heather cleaned out a cupboard that was liberally sprinkled with spilled flour but otherwise we have been banging away on our PCs and phones most of the day.
And we had camel sausages for dinner! They were delish! Much better than expected and we will certainly buy more if we see them!

Hangin by a Literal Thread🙃
FAIR WARNING: This post contains some serious bitching about the current fuckery going on in my life . If you relate in any way shape or form... hang in there Brotherrrr! If I have to keep truckin’(even though I really don’t wanna),so do you😘 And On the other hand,If you happen to live a perfectly peaceful life and you don’t relate to any kind of dis bullshit.... props to you! ya filthy liar!😶Either way, I’m going to bitch about the struggles of existing,on MY Tumblr blog AGAIN. I do hate to be such a drag to your dash, my Dear Followers. BUT Perhaps if moderately decent therapy was affordable, I’d go throw up my dark feelings there. Unfortunately that’s just not the case. Wild, right?!🤯 ANNNNYHOOOT!!!!!!
Okay so before I get into those dark dirty deets, I’ll start out by sharing a little noteworthy positivity going on. A little silver lining to the chaos surrounding my every day thoughts and feels...
A few months ago I was told that the iron and Vitamin D levels in my body, were so dangerously low, that my test results showed “alert levels” instead of the average “high, normal, or low levels”. Scary, huh? Anyway, I’ve been prescribed an extremely high dose of Vitamin D that I take twice a week. I’ve also been receiving Iron infusions once a week at the Khafman Cancer Center. And although, I’m not finished with the infusions quite yet, I feel like I’ve noticed a dramatic difference in my energy level after only 3 weeks.
Basically, I don’t feel quite as dead inside anymore. I was convinced that my low energy came from my crippling depression(still there no doubt),when in fact, a huge factor of my torpid state of being, came from my body being broken. I’m grateful that at least one of my issues are being mended. I actually feel somewhat human again. Fingers crossed, I won’t feel at all like a zombie after a few more weeks🤞🏻
Okay, so now that I’ve gotten that off my chest, here’s where the bitching begins🙃
2021 sure as hell isn’t going down like I previously anticipated. With all the global issues aside, my personal life was looking up back in November and December, 2020. I really believed for a second that maybe, just maybe, things were finally starting to look up(emotionally speaking) and that 2021 wasn’t going to hurt quite as bad as the year before.
FOOOL!
I was so very foolish, for thinking so optimistically! And wow! I gadda say... this feeling blows. I’ve been let down a ton in my time, and yet somehow this time, it’s truly hitting way different! This time feels like hitting rock bottom, followed by being metaphorically curb stomped, and then to top off that emotional and mental turmoil...financial catastrophes are swallowing me whole. Definitely not ideal.
Let me break it down....
Financially speaking:
👎🏻I’m already a shitty “saver”. I’ll admit it. But I pay my bills on time and I have enough to get by comfortably(normally). Not right now though...
👎🏻I haven’t gotten my stimulus check yet.
👎🏻While I was driving on my favorite back road home last week, I got a flat tire (after buying 4 new tires less than 3 months ago/ plus an additional $600 worth of needed repairs. $980 total in car repairs)
👎🏻Put my car in the shop only to find out I needed way more than just a new tire.
👎🏻Apparently I need at least $600-$700 worth of more work done on my car.
👎🏻 I’ve been late on every bill this month because of this issue and have had to put my tail between my legs to ask to borrow money from my grandmother.
👎🏻finally the IRS/ Covid relief system going on has royally fucked me this year on my taxes. I allegedly owe thousands of dollars. I’m not buying it, but uhh okayyy.
Emotionally speaking:
💘 I allowed myself to fall for another Leo male. As if I haven’t learned my lesson multiple times before.
💘 He felt so different though! Especially because he’s been in my life for five fucking years!
💘 I painted him a “masterpiece” and bought him “Punpkin King” socks for Christmas(to keep it breezy and light)
💘 we spent New Year’s Eve together and it felt magical enough for me to write him a handwritten appreciation letter the day after I left his place in Philly.
💘he went awol and disappeared for weeks, so I of course I took that shit personal.
💘he finally (sorta) acknowledged my letter over a month later. He got it but said “he wasn’t in the right head space to read it yet” on Saturday.
💘On Thursday he messaged me a cute silly selfie, followed by some casual flirty banter. Still didn’t fully acknowledge the letter’s content though.
💘to bandaid my fragile gaping wound of an ego... I got back on Tinder. 750 matches and dozens of flattering messages later, I’m still hung up on the leo.
💘I’ve been sleeping with an ex con who happens to be my first kiss/ first hand job.
💘I entertained conversation with my ex boyfriend, despite my better judgment (never ever again btw).
💘 I lost an uncle to Covid, and my dads best friend to cancer.
💘 still no fucking concerts
Mentally Speaking:
🤕 I’m overly anxious about my living situation.
🤕 the one person who could possibly understand me (the former resident of the room I rent/ my so called BFF) is ghosting me like a bitch.
🤕my parents think I’m crazy
🤕I’m isolating myself from friends
🤕I’m overindulging in recklessness
🤕my job is mundane
🤕still lack real motivation
🤕my brain is in a constant state of scattered, fear, and worry.
With alllll that being said.....
PLEASE UNIVERSE! I’m pleading desperately for some genuine clarity. I have got to get myself out of this dreadful hole I keep falling deeper into. Please please please.... cut me a break and hit me with those sweet signs you used to send me! I don’t know how much longer I can last if life keeps going this way.

How Long Does It Take To Build Credit?
Tumblr media
Whether you’re building credit for the first time or trying to rebuild after past credit mistakes, it’s unlikely you’re going to see overnight results. That can be frustrating, especially if you’re trying to decide whether it’s worth the effort in the first place. Unfortunately, there’s no surefire way to find out exactly how long it’s going to take you to establish or improve your credit score. There are, however, some guidelines you can use and habits to develop as you work toward your goal. In this article, we’ll walk through: How long it takes to build credit, periodCredit-building guidelines to considerHow long it takes to build credit for a mortgageWhy good credit is hard to build and easy to destroy3 habits for credit success But first, let’s talk about how long it takes to build credit. The short answer? It’s impossible to say exactly. Here’s why.
Why it’s impossible to say how long it takes to build credit
Building credit is a lot like losing weight. There’s a lot more to it than just flipping a switch or pressing a button. Several factors go into your determining your credit score, and FICO and the other credit scoring companies don’t share the entirety of their complex calculations with the general public. Because of that, it’s possible to work on improving your credit score for months without seeing a large uptick in your credit score. At the same time, it’s also possible to see your credit score improve by leaps and bounds over a short period. It all depends on the various factors the credit scoring companies are using to calculate it, and your personal credit situation.  As a result, focusing on the number is generally the wrong way to measure whether you’re going in the right direction. Instead, it’s essential to focus on developing the right credit habits and staying focused on your goal.
Guidelines to consider as you build credit
While it’s futile to try to determine exactly how long it will take you to improve your credit score, there are a few general rules of thumb that can give you an idea…
Tumblr media
The six-month rule If you have never used credit before or haven’t had any lines of credit in the past six months, it will take at least six months before FICO will calculate a credit score for you. This means that it will take at least that long to get your three-digit number. Once you get there, though, you could still have what’s called a thin credit file, and it can still take a while to get your credit score to where you want it to be. VantageScore doesn’t have the six-month rule, which means that you could have a VantageScore credit score as soon as your new credit account starts reporting. Unfortunately, though, lenders typically rely on the FICO credit score when underwriting credit applications. So, while it’s nice to see a score with VantageScore, lenders who only use FICO still won’t see a score for you when you apply for a loan or credit card until you’ve reached the six-month mark. Rebuilding can take longer than building from scratch Building credit from scratch likely won’t take as long as trying to rebuild your credit after a bankruptcy or foreclosure. That’s because those major negative items can remain on your credit report for seven to 10 years. They won’t necessarily affect your credit score heavily for that long — new positive information generally outweighs old negative information over time. But it will still usually take more work to diminish past mistakes than it will to build a credit history from the ground up.  Remember, however, that rebuilding your credit is completely different from repairing your credit. Credit rebuilding does not go back over your credit report to fix any errors or mistakes, or dispute any information with creditors. Instead, rebuilding your credit is all about adding new, positive information to your credit report, which you do through managing your credit accounts responsibly.  If you’ve made a small mistake, however, and have an otherwise spotless credit history, it likely won’t take you very long to restore your credit score to its former glory. Credit utilization is usually a quick fix If your credit utilization ratio gets too high, it could drop your credit score significantly. But since credit card issuers report account activity once a month, paying down a balance and keeping it low before the next reporting date could cause your credit score to bounce back accordingly. More debt may not always be the answer Having multiple credit cards or a credit card and multiple loans — such as a car loan, student loan, and mortgage — could help you build credit faster. That’s simply because there’s more information for the credit scoring companies to use. But going into debt just to build your credit isn’t always in your best interest, especially if it’s high-interest debt. Instead of helping you build credit, falling behind on payments could make things worse. That said, using a secured credit card and paying off the balance in full each month, plus getting a credit builder loan with a reasonable interest rate could help you build credit more quickly because it shows you can responsibly manage different types of debt. It can depend on when lenders report In general, most lenders report your account activity to the credit bureaus once a month. But it’s possible to get a lender that doesn’t report as often. As such, if building credit is your top priority in opening a credit account, check with the lender first to make sure that it reports once a month. Otherwise, it could take longer for your credit score to update.
How long does it take to build enough credit for a mortgage?
Tumblr media
Depending on the lender, to qualify for a conventional mortgage, you need a credit score in the 600s or higher, a stable income and a debt-to-income ratio of 45% or less.  According to Melinda Sineriz at Realtor.com:  “You should know that while a ‘fair’ score may get you a mortgage, it won’t qualify you for the best mortgage – in terms of interest rates and other deals. To get better mortgage rates, you will need a good score (700-750) or an excellent score (760 or higher). Unfortunately, achieving those scores will take (you guessed it) more time.”  While some programs exist to help people with poor or no credit gain access to housing, to gain access to the best interest rates and terms available, you will need a much higher credit score.  With a mortgage loan, the rate difference may not seem wide between different credit score ranges, your interest rate could be 6% instead of 4%, for example. But over the course of 30 years, it could cost you tens of thousands of dollars if you can’t manage to refinance at a lower rate in the future.  Here’s an example of just how much bad credit could cost you (or great credit could save you) over the course of a $250,000 mortgage with a 30 year term:
Tumblr media
Source While building credit quickly to qualify for buying that dream home right now might sound appealing, sometimes it’s better to wait until you build the right amount of credit first. That way, you can save the most money and get the best deals available to you. This process could take anywhere from six months to a few years, depending on your financial situation.
Good credit – hard to build, easy to destroy
Building good credit or establishing credit from scratch takes time. As I mentioned earlier, it usually takes anywhere from 3-6 months or more to build credit history with the major credit bureaus in the first place. However, damaging your credit is much easier, and can easily be done with just one missed or late payment. Just one missed payment could remain on your credit report for up to seven years.
Tumblr media
While this might seem a little harsh, remember that your payment history is the single most influential factor in your FICO credit score, counting for 35% of your score. So paying your bills on time – whether they’re to a credit card company or on a loan payment – is incredibly important. There are a few ways you can help yourself make payments on time. First, if it’s available, set up automatic payments. That way, you can set-it-and-forget-it and your payments will be made on time. If, for whatever reason, automatic payments are not an option for you, set a calendar reminder. Schedule it in your phone, write in on your bathroom mirror, whatever works best for you.  Just make sure you do not miss a payment! To build positive credit (and potentially raise your credit score), do what it takes to make sure you're paying your bills on time.  If funds are an issue, try to talk to your lender before you miss a payment, to see if they’re willing to work with you, or move the payment due date. Many lenders also offer a grace period before a payment counts as late or missed, some as high as 15-30 days. Though many lenders will assess late fees before they report a payment as late to the credit bureaus (yet another reason to pay your bills on time). Check with your lender or credit card companies to see what options are available to you before taking a hit to your credit report.  How late your payment is matters Another thing to keep in mind, according to Equifax? “In general, though, the longer a bill goes unpaid, the more damaging the effect it has on your credit score. For example, all other things being equal, a payment that is 90 days late can have a more significant negative impact on your credit score than a payment that is 30 days late. In addition, the more recent the late payment, the more negative of an impact it could have.”  If you have a missed or late payment, don’t give up and let poor credit become worse. Making that payment sooner, rather than later, can prevent more damage from being done to your credit score.  And if you have a history of missed payments in your past, remember that hope is not lost, your credit score can still recover. It just takes time, and perhaps more of it than you might like. The good news is you can take steps today that could help improve your credit moving forward.
3 credit habits for success
In total, five factors go into your FICO credit score. But two of them — your length of credit history and the types of credit you have — tend to happen naturally over time. The other three, however, are things you can start working on from the beginning. 1 - Pay on time every time Your payment history is the most influential factor in your FICO credit score and makes up 35% of your score. As such, it’s crucial that you make your monthly payments on time every month. Also, if you happen to have late payments or an account in collections, get caught up as quickly as possible to avoid further damage. Set up automatic payments for the future and make it a priority to pay your debts. Over time, this action will do more to boost your credit score than anything else. 2 - Keep credit card balances low 30% of your credit score is based on your credit utilization on your credit cards. Your credit utilization rate is calculated by dividing your balance by your credit limit. So, if you have a card with a $1,000 limit and a $750 balance, your utilization rate is 75%.
Tumblr media
It’s best to keep your credit utilization as low as possible. A few ways to do this include: Using your credit card sparingly, especially if it has a low limit.Making multiple payments each month to keep the balance low.Asking your credit card issuer when it reports your balance and making a large payment before that date. 3- Borrow responsibly Every time you apply for a credit card or loan, it can knock as much as five points off your credit score — in some cases, it may not affect your score at all. But if you apply for multiple credit accounts in a short period, it could have a compounding effect on your credit score. It’s wise to avoid opening up credit accounts unless you need them. Even then, try to keep your applications to a minimum as you’re working to get your credit on the right track.
The bottom line
Establishing a good credit score can make a big difference in the type of interest rates you can get, as well as the types of credit you can qualify for. But it can take time to achieve that goal. As you consider these tips and guidelines, it’s important to stay focused on the behaviors rather than the number.  As you do so, you’ll establish a solid foundation for building your credit to where you want it to be and keeping it there. 3 Reasons Lyft Is a Better Buy Than Uber
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The market still seems confused about Lyft (NASDAQ:LYFT) and Uber Technologies (NYSE:UBER), the ridesharing rivals that went public earlier this year. Not only are both stocks trading (at the time of this writing) down about 20% from the prices at their initial public offerings -- an underwhelming showing considering that 2019 has been a bumper year for IPOs -- but strangely, the stocks often move in tandem. The market seems to believe that what's good for one is good for the other and the same for the bad things, even though the two are cutthroat competitors. This pattern was on display recently when the companies reported second-quarter earnings on consecutive days. Lyft's results came out after market close on Wednesday, Aug. 7, and both ride-hailing stocks surged in the next day's trading. Investors were delighted to see Lyft smash its own guidance for the quarter and raise its outlook for the full year. But what really had them bidding up both companies was Lyft saying that prices were beginning to rise, a signal that price competition between the two companies may be easing, meaning profitability may not be as far away as some fear. Lyft's stock jumped as much as 9.3% and it finished the session 3% higher. Uber, meanwhile, shot up 8.2% on news about the price war potentially cooling off. After market close that day, Uber reported its own quarterly results and in trading the next day, both stocks gave up their gains as Uber's second-quarter numbers included just 14% revenue growth and an adjusted EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization) loss that more than doubled from the prior year to $656 million. Uber shares fell 6.8% on that Friday, and lost another 7.6% on Monday, Aug. 12. Lyft stock, meanwhile, dived 9.5% in the two sessions following Uber's results. Though the market doesn't see it this way, Lyft and Uber are moving in vastly different directions. Lyft is still posting skyrocketing growth, with revenue up 72% in the second quarter, Meanwhile Uber is stalling out; its top line increased just 14% in its most recent quarter, or 26% after adjusting for currency translation and driver awards related to the IPO. Revenue from ridesharing, Uber's primary business despite efforts to shift focus to Uber Eats, increased by an anemic 2%, or 17% after adjusting for the driver awards. Both Uber and Lyft still look overvalued according to conventional metrics, but Lyft looks like the much better buy today. In addition to its vastly faster growth rate, Lyft has a number of advantages over its larger rival.
Tumblr media

1. Lyft is gaining market share
Uber remains the clear leader in U.S. ridesharing, with about 70% of the domestic market, according to data from Second Measure, and the company has mostly stabilized following a disastrous 2017. That year included allegations of strikebreaking at New York's Kennedy Airport; accusations of rampant sexual harassment by employees; a lawsuit alleging the stealing ofntrade secrets from Waymo; revelations that Uber used underhanded tactics to dupe regulators in a program called Greyball; and, finally, the ouster of co-founder and CEO Travis Kalanick, who was replaced by Dara Khosrowshahi, the former CEO of Expedia. However, the latest round of results indicate that Lyft continues to gain ground on Uber. Both companies added nearly identical amounts of revenue in the second quarter. Lyft's top line grew by $362.4 million, while Uber added $398 million in revenue. Using Uber's preferred adjusted revenue figures, the company increased revenue by about $700 million. But investors should remember that Lyft operates primarily as a ridesharing service in North America, although it also owns several bike-share networks (following its acquisition of Motivate last year) and a nascent scooter business. Uber, on the other hand, operates globally. It also has Uber Eats, a fledgling freight business, and a stake in micromobility (scooters and bike-share) through its acquisition of Jump last year and its $335 million investment in Lime, also in 2018. In North America, Uber's revenue grew by $283 million in the quarter, and a considerable percentage of that growth appeared to come from Uber Eats. That shows that Lyft is still growing much faster in the only market it currently operates in.

2. Lyft is founder-led and mission-driven
Kalanick's years at the helm of Uber had several consequences. The brash entrepreneur, regarded as a "force of nature" among investors and venture capital firms, imbued the company with a win-at-all-costs mentality. Khosrowshahi has taken pains to try to repair Uber's image as a bullying scofflaw. He often seems to be playing defense at a time when the company should be at its most ambitious, flush with cash following a bountiful IPO. Uber's debut itself seemed to be an exercise in weakness, as Khosrowshahi consistently tamped down expectations. While most companies try to price their initial offerings as high as the market will bear, Uber did the opposite, pricing at just $45 a share after initially declaring a range of $44 to $50. Today, a company that Wall Street bankers had once valued at $120 billion is now worth less than half that; its market cap was $59 billion on Friday. In Uber's prospectus, Khosrowshahi often sounded apologetic for the company's past behavior, and promised to do better. In his personal letter to investors, he said: "I want to close with my commitment to you: I won't be perfect, but I will listen to you; I will ensure that we treat our customers, colleagues, and our cities with respect; and I will run our business with passion, humility, and integrity." Later in the document the company pledged to "Do the right thing. Period." That's a declaration that investors would take for granted from any other publicly traded company. Khosrowshahi is no doubt in a tough position due to Kalanick's behavior, but it's worth asking if something important is lost with Kalanick gone. After all, Kalanick is the one who built the company from the ground up, and made it into a global behemoth, the envy of other start-ups. Plenty of early investors feel loyal to Kalanick (who still sits on Uber's board), as he made them a fortune. Bradley Tusk, an early investor in the ridesharing juggernaut and its first "political strategist," recently said on CNBC's Squawk Box, "They've lost their mojo. Clearly, there's not a lot of confidence in the leadership. Some of what Travis represented in innovation, change, and intensity is lacking at the company now, and the stock is clearly reflecting that." Khosrowshahi has a challenging job ahead of him: managing the demands of drivers looking for better pay and benefits, customers wanting low prices and great service, and investors who want to see growth as well as profitability. That he must mend relationships and the company's reputation in the wake of the turbulent Kalanick era, while dealing with critics still pining for Kalanick to return, only makes things harder. Lyft faces no such dilemma. The reputation of its founders, John Zimmer and Logan Green, is sterling by comparison, and the company has generally been perceived as the friendlier of the two ridesharing services. It was the first to allow drivers to be tipped; its "surge pricing" hikes are generally more modest; and it was Lyft, not Uber, that introduced the fundamental innovation of a ridesharing service where drivers drove their own cars. In its early days, Uber was just a luxury black-car service. More recently, Lyft pledged last April to make its rides carbon-neutral, buying carbon offsets, and the company has executed on that promise. Uber has made no such proposal to address the environmental impact of its business. What was that again about doing the right thing? Lyft's mission statement is also much clearer and more achievable than Uber's. According to Lyft's prospectus, its mission is to "Improve people's lives with the world's best transportation." It's a simple statement, yet potentially world-changing, especially when you imagine things like self-driving cars taking off. Uber's mission statement is so vague it's basically meaningless: "We ignite opportunity by setting the world in motion." I don't know what that means, and I don't think Uber does either. Notably, Uber doesn't have the singular focus on ridesharing that Lyft does. Layering on businesses like Uber Eats, Uber Freight, and Uber Copter may be appealing to growth-minded investors, but that strategy could also be a distraction from the company's core business, ridesharing, as well as its potential profitability. With its wide-ranging ambitions, it's not surprising that Khosrowshahi loves to compare Uber to Amazon, but Uber's ability to match Amazon's growth over the last generation seems doubtful at this point. That Lyft continues to be led by the same duo who built the company looks like a clear advantage for the No. 2 ridesharing service, as does the clarity of its mission statement.

3. Lyft is better positioned for the self-driving revolution
With every passing month, it seems like the so-called self-driving revolution may be turning into science fiction. Automakers and tech companies are trying to design vehicles that can drive themselves safely in the wide range of situations that human drivers face, but are finding the challenge to be extremely difficult. However, technology always gets better, and it seems like a good bet that autonomous vehicles (AVs) will be mainstream one day, even if it takes longer than many technologists thought just a few years ago. The shift is likely to be gradual rather than sudden, though, and Lyft seems like it will be better prepared than Uber. In part because it's been able to leverage its reputation as a much more trustworthy partner than Uber, Lyft has significantly more partnerships with AV tech companies and automakers than its chief rival does. Lyft has partnered with Aptiv (NYSE: APTV), an AV technology company, to provide more than 50,000 self-driving rides in Las Vegas through next May, one year into their partnership. In Phoenix, Alphabet's (NASDAQ: GOOG) (NASDAQ: GOOGL) Waymo has made rides in its autonomous vehicles available through Lyft. In addition, General Motors (NYSE: GM) is a major investor in Lyft, plunking down $500 million for a 9% stake in 2016. GM's Cruise AV division is now valued at $19 billion, a sign that it's set to be a serious player in autonomous vehicles. Though GM's working relationship with Lyft appears to be dormant at the moment, as long as it remains an investor (with a stake now worth over $1 billion), a meaningful partnership on AVs could spring to life at any time. More recently, Ford (NYSE: F) also said it was teaming up with Lyft to take AVs mainstream. Uber's involvement in autonomous vehicles, on the other hand, is probably best known for the first and only pedestrian death caused by a self-driving vehicle, when one of its AVs hit a woman crossing a road in Tempe, Arizona, in March 2018. That prompted a suspension of its AV road tests for eight months. It's since gotten its AVs back on the road for testing, but the company's reputation as excessively risk-taking, and as a corporate bully willing to flout regulations, would seem to make it poorly suited to lead the AV revolution -- especially considering the risk and the negative press surrounding AV-related traffic accidents. Uber has forged a partnership with Toyota (NYSE: TM), which appears to be its only significant tie-up with an automaker or AV tech company. Last year, Uber received a $500 million investment from the Japanese carmaker, and the two companies committed to delivering self-driving cars by 2021. Still, in terms of AV-related relationships, Lyft is the clear winner. Not only does Lyft have significantly more partnerships than Uber, but its status as the No. 2 ridesharing service makes it more appealing for carmakers and AV tech companies to team up with. Lyft poses much less of a threat to them than Uber, which some see as a rapacious monopolist. Similarly, Uber has feuded with Waymo, in and out of court and those battles make it unlikely that Waymo, widely regarded as the leader in AV tech, will work with Uber in a significant way, and serve as a reminder to other potential partners that Uber may not be a desired ally. In a high-level comparison between the two companies, it's clear that Lyft is growing much faster than Uber, has a management team with a better track record, and has a degree of clarity about its future that Uber lacks. Finally, Lyft's stronger reputation and positioning have enabled it to forge a slew of partnerships with the companies that are most likely to make autonomous vehicles a reality. Both companies are bleeding cash and remain overvalued considering their risks, but at this point Lyft looks like the much better buy. Read More Read the full article

Day 152 152 days on HRT. Not a nice round number like 150 but I was busy that day so this is close enough. Lol Its been a heck of a ride so far. Started on February 7th after a lost appointment in January. In those 150 days I have noticed a lot of changes in attitude and emotions but not much physically. My chest is sore and "up" to AA size at best. But its a start. I don't have to remove hair from my body parts as often as I once did. Which is nice. Although my facial hair is still a problem and right now I dont have the financial ability to start the laser removal process. But it's a start. I have a tiny bit of a figure. Meaning I don't just look like a cardboard box any longer. Now it's a cardboard box with a notch cut out on each side. But it's a start. A lot of this is slow pace of change is due to my age and a longer time period on minimum dosages. At first the trail stage and then in response to now frequent battles with my health. But it's a start. Emotionally, things are different. I seem to feel more now then ever. The highs seem higher, the lows lower (which is odd considering how low I was for a while) but the lows dont seem so helpless. I cry now at at a sad movie, or commercial or anything. Things are the same. Only different. Tough to explain. Where HRT has made the biggest difference is in attitude. Where once I was scared to go anywhere as myself, now I go everywhere. All the time. I went full time female about a month after starting HRT. Having to switch between myself and my guy costume was incredibly difficult. Each time I did it was more and more challenging to do. After a few days as me, having to go back to who I wasn't tore me apart. It couldn't have lasted much longer. So in that respect losing my job at Universal was for the best. It allowed me to go full time. A status I will NEVER stop. EVER. On the other hand. I now have had four jobs since HRT began. Universal. Postmates, Crossmark and Uber Eats. At the presrnt time Uber Eats is next to impossible. For health reasons and the heat of Florida in the summer. The A/C in my car has quit and estimates of $700 to $1300 to have it repaired. Tough to do when you have about $20 in both bank accounts. Total. But its ok. My car will most likely be repossessed soon anyways. But Im looking for a "real" job with steady hours, decent pay that must accept Madison. Even job hunting though is not easy. Everything is done online and my 12 year old laptop is useless and my tablet was lost (stolen?) when I was being moved while in the hospital. So Im trying to apply with my phone. Doesn't always work. But it's a start. (If anyone has a laptop lying around and wish to donate it. I'll give you my mailing address. Newer then XP please LOL) In the last 152 days I've also gotten back togather with Vicky. For really the first time EVER someone who knew me as I was has accepted me for who I really am. Something I never thought would happen. We dated from May to September last year. I found myself falling for her but broke it off. I wasn't prepared to tell her about my need to start transition (again) nor was I prepared for the rejection I was sure would happen if I did tell her. So I ended it. When she contacted me out of the blue on March 2nd. I took a week to mentally wrestle with myself and decided I was going to tell her, damn the consequences. Best decision I ever made. She accepted me, loved me and supported me now more then ever. We hope to have a future togather. Hope is the over riding feeling right now. Three days after revealing Madi to Vicky on March 12 I passed out and have been sick ever since. Found two days later, in a coma for 8 days, in the hospital for 2 weeks then a month to recover. Only to begin being sick again a few weeks later culminating in another 4 day hospital stay and tomorrows visit to the urologist for more tests. Fun stuff. So its understandable that I'm especially anxious and worried about tomorrows visit. It could be good news, or not. It could be the beginning of feeling better or the beginning of the end. The not knowing is maddening. But knowing might be worse. Still I have to face it all as it comes. Not something I was expecting on top of all the finanical, transition and other things maximizing my stress level. But it's a start. ~Madison HRT152 The above pix are in Cedar Key. Taken by Vicky in the spur of the moment. Im retaining over 2 gallons of fluid at this time! No wonder I was so big!

What’s in a mortgage payment & what is ‘escrow’? Home Buyer & Home Seller Educations
www.learningtobuyahome.com
Upcoming Free (& non-promotional) Home Buyer Classes: Monday, June 17th, from 5pm - 8pm (ish)        Marshall Community Center, Conference room       1009 E McLoughlin Blvd, Vancouver WA (kitty corner from Clark College) Saturday, June 22nd, from 12pm-3pm (ish)        Vancouver YMCA, conference room       11324 NE 51st Circle, Vancouver WA (corner of SR500 & Gher Road/112th Ave). If these class dates and/or times don't work for you, please let us know. We understand that you have lives, and families, and work.  We will work something out that works better with your schedule.  Just let us know....                                                                                  ...www.learningtobuyahome.com for seller class schedule....                  Remember...with reservation...we will throw in lunch, or dinner!  :-D ~~~~~~~~~Happy Sunday~ It's supposed to be in the 90's this week?  Blech....  I know that some people love the heat, but I may be too fluffy for the heat.  Thank goodness for Air Conditioning this week.  So, Chris and I get asked about closing costs all the time.  What are they?  How much are they?  What are they for?  How can you plan for them?   Buying a home will be the largest purchase you ever make.  The only thing that will cost your more than buying a home is having a child.  :-)  Like a child, you have to take care of your home though, and there is more to home ownership than most people realize.     Every month you pay bills, and your mortgage payment will most likely be your largest monthly expenditure, but what is it?  We will talk about how a mortgage payment works soon, but this week, let's talk about the five parts of a mortgage payment.   Now...what is all in your payment?    There are four parts to your mortgage payment...it is called a PITI payment.  What that means is Principal, Interest, Taxes, and Insurance.  For example, if my payment was $2000, my principal/interest portion would be about  $1300 a month, and the other $700 a month would be put into an escrow account.  Out of this account comes the homeowners insurance payment once a year, and property taxes are also paid from this account twice a year.  All of these fees are wrapped into the monthly mortgage payment.  Anytime you are using a FHA, or any government type of loan like RD (USDA), or the downpayment assistance programs & grants (like Home Advantage), these fees must be wrapped into the mortgage payment.   If you don't have a 20% down payment (like 99.9% people), then your mortgage payment will actually have FIVE PARTS with the fifth part being Mortgage Insurance. Another insurance that 'could' come out of the escrow payment is flood insurance.  If you live in a flood plain (I used to), then you will be required to carry flood insurance.  Flood insurance would be wrapped up into your mortgage payment, and be deposited into your escrow payment for a payment once a year.   So what's an escrow account?  Your escrow account, as mentioned above is the account that holds the money taken from your mortgage payment every month to pay for those parts of your mortgage that are NOT principal and interest.  Every year your mortgage company will evaluate your escrow account to be certain that they're collecting enough to pay for these items.  As property taxes go up (or down) based on home value, your home owners insurance should also change to cover your homes value.  If your values are going up, then the amount you need in your escrow account will also need to increase.  You will receive a letter from your escrow account every year to update you whether you have enough in your payment to cover escrow, or if you have too much in your escrow account.  If you have too much in your escrow account then you might receive a check, and new payment amount.  If you don't have enough forecasted in your account, then they will ask you to mail in a check to cover the difference, or your mortgage payment will be adjusted to cover the difference.   Mortgage Insurance vs Homeowners Insurance Mortgage insurance is different than home owners (sometimes called, Hazard) insurance.  In a nutshell, mortgage Insurance protects the lender in case you default on your loan, and homeowners insurance protects you & the lender in case something happens to the home....ie.. a fire, a tree falling on your home, a car driving into your home, burst pipes, etc.   Homeowners Insurance   Now, please remember, you do choose your insurance company!  One of the things I suggest to clients is to contact their insurance company after they make their offer and to do a couple of things...(1) Has there been any water of fire claims in the past 3-5 years on this home?, and (2) How much would the insurance be for this home?  Average homeowners insurance is about $500-$700 a year....again, it is wrapped up into your monthly mortgage payment so it is NOT another extra expense.  You do get to choose your company, and many companies will give you discounts for 'bundling' your policies...like, home, car, life, etc.  It doesn't hurt to call around for quotes.  Once you choose a company, you will want to request that your insurance agent send over an 'insurance binder' over to your lender. Property Taxes  Taxes are decided by the county, and are usually paid twice a year. You may get a copy of the tax bill, but again, it is paid by your mortgage company out of your escrow account.  I always get phone calls when these bills come out.  :-D  No worries...it is just for your records, and I encourage your phone calls!!  :-)  Please remember that 'Tax Assessed Value' is NOT market value.  Property taxes are assessed every year, but based off of sales from a year to two years prior.   Principal & Interest   Now...your principal and interest portion of your mortgage payment.  As we know a portion of your mortgage payment every month goes toward the principal amount that your borrowed to purchase your home, and a portion goes toward the interest that the lender is charging you.  In the beginning of your loan the smaller amount goes toward principal, and the larger portion goes toward interest...this eventually switches.  We all know the wisdom of making an additional payment every year on your mortgage to reduce your loan time.  Some banks will offer to take your payment in two week portions, and make your additional payment for you.  Honestly I don't advise this.....before you think I am crazy, this is the reason why....the bank actually holds your money and makes your additional payment at the end of the year.  This isn't the best way for you, really....  I always pay between $25-$100 extra on my mortgage every month depending upon our finances that month, but apply it directly towards my principal borrowed amount.  At the end of the year I have made that extra payment directly towards my principal, which is less money I can be charged interest on!  This will shorten my loan length considerably.  In the end I actually pay MORE on the principal amount than I would have if I had just made one extra payment.  My suggestion to all my clients is to take that $20 from each paycheck and put it into that credit union far away (with no debit card or checkbook for) that is for your home repairs that are needed as a homeowner.  If you just put at least $25 per month extra toward your principal loan amount you will also be shortening your loan time.  This sounds like a lot...but really is it?  It is a trip to McD's (for my family anyhow as we have 2 adults, a third grader, and either my adult son, and/or my adult daughter and her husband, and baby.), or a couple of Dutch Brothers trips a month...but it will help you in the long run immensely.   I won't lie... I love my Dutch Bros though.  :-)   So there are the 5 parts of your mortgage payment...Principal, Interest, Taxes, and Insurance...both Mortgage & Homeowners.....all tidily wrapped up into one payment every month..  Yay!  I kept it shorter this week!  :-D  It's like going to the grocery store, and only coming out with the items you went in for....ok, who am I kidding...that never happens!              Information is power, and I hope that I am able to help you.  Good luck, and as always...May the odds be ever in your favor out there....  AND If you are looking for a real estate agent, I would love to be able to help you.                                                                            As always....this is just a quick overview.... again...and I can't say this enough...please remember that your agent is NOT a salesperson, and should not be acting like one.  Real Estate is not really about houses, it is about relationships.  Your agent, and your lender work for YOU.  You drive the bus...we are merely GPS to help you get to your goals.  Like the classes, this weekly blog email is to help you with your home adventure.  The goal is to be informative and non-promotional.  :-)  We are, however, hoping you will call and want us to help with your adventure.   If you have any questions about this, or something you have heard...or if you would like me to help you with your home adventure, please call, email,  text, or facebook me anytime.  I am, as always, happy to help! Thank you again for your business and your referrals!!  ...and thank you for referring these classes to your friends, family, and co-workers.   .   ..disclaimer...if you have already purchased a home, or would no longer like to receive these emails, please let me know and I will be happy to remove you from any further mailings...   Upcoming Topics: 55 things not to do when buying a home.                                  When is a pre-approval not a pre-approval?Last Week:  Types of Realtors & Compensation...explained Have a great day, and I will talk to you soon,   ;-D   Tracie DeMars   Real Estate broker   Re/Max - Van Mall   360/ 903-3504 cell   360/ 882-3600 fax   www.traciedemars.com   [email protected]       “Interested in free and non promotional home education classes?  Go to www.learningtobuyahome.com, for local upcoming home buyer and home SELLER classes, or facebook: Tracie DeMars Real Estate for my home buyer education blog.” "Listen to the mustn'ts, child. Send good thoughts, please! My only mode of transportation (50cc scooter I bought a year ago) is having some bad engine issues, possibly needs a $500-700 rebuild. I’m stupidly attached to it so I’m going to repair it regardless of cost even though it would be around $1000-1300 for a new (used) one with far fewer miles on it, trying to justify this with arguments to myself that I know mine is super reliable & well taken care of & that’s not something I could guarantee if I buy another one.
Unfortunately, the only decent repair shop in town is a motorcycle shop whose employees are kind of rude when I bring it in because it’s just a little baby bike & they usually work on Harleys or other motorcycles. They won’t do appointments for something that’s not a “real bike” & they wouldn’t even bump it up on the priority list when I offered to pay for more hours than they were actually gonna put in (it’s $70/hr to work on it, so we’re not talking pocket change). When I called this morning, the guy that picked up the phone was actually nice & said they’d try to get it back to me by early May if it does need any part of the engine replaced.
If I don’t go to the grocery store or anywhere else, I’m looking at about $70 in bus fares to ride to work for a month–not awful when you consider that it’d be over $1100 to Uber to work & back each day or $850 to rent a car for a month (or $50 a month if I had a car & was paying insurance). The mainly crappy part is scheduling. I’ve got to walk a mile from my house to the bus station each morning & catch the bus at 6:45am. I will get to work at 7:10am. I don’t actually work until 8:00am, so that’s 50 minutes of just sitting around, I’ll probably read or do Duolingo or maybe exercise (maybe all three! YAY SELF IMPROVEMENT). I normally wake up at 6:15am & now I’ll have to get up about 4:45am.  I am gonna have to go to bed really early. Probably not gonna have any free time as I’ll have a mile walk home each afternoon + have to go to bed earlier. Might not be posting much until the transportation issues get settled & scoot’s running again, as obviously all my animals already take up a lot of time & this is cutting into what minimal spare time I had anyway.
I will also take this opportunity to complain about the weather, as it’s been raining a lot lately so my foot that got broken from the wreck last year when I lost my car is aching horribly nonstop & will not be pleased about an additional two miles of walking each day. Also, it’s absurdly hot in the afternoon & I will probably end up murdering someone from the sheer anger the heat makes me feel.
I dunno, I kinda want to ask my manager if it’d be possible for me to work from 8:15am-4:15pm each day for now, since that’d let me catch the bus at 7:45am instead, but I don’t really like drawing attention to the fact I don’t have a car as it’s actually part of my job requirements to have a car. So I guess I’m better off just not being a lazy ass & waking up before 5am every day.

Takeaway on All These Side Hustle Ideas
Side hustles are a great way to quickly increase your income to do things like build your emergency fund, rapidly pay off debt, and save for those big purchases. When I was facing $52k in consumer debt alone, I was constantly looking for different side hustle ideas to pay off the massive debt I had created.
Keep in mind, side hustles are not meant to replace your income, but rather add to your current income. Of course there are stories out there of side hustles turning into full-time business ideas, but this is definitely not the normal.
Instead, look at these side hustle ideas as a way to boost your current income in your spare time.
Yes, as you can imagine side hustles are performed in addition to what you’re already doing. This means if you aren’t willing to put in the extra work, then continuing to look down this list of side hustle ideas is going to be a waste of your time. These are not get-rich-quick ideas — they are make-money-for-extra-work ideas.
And depending on what you’re willing to do and how much time you are willing to allocate will determine your added income. Some of you will start off making an extra $50 per month and others will make an extra $2,000 per month.
My best piece of advice for choosing your side hustles
Work means work. Whichever side hustles you choose will take effort on your part.
Find something you are already good at (or enjoy) and start there.
Determine how much money you need and then work backwards from there. This will help you determine which side hustle will be best for your goals.
The side hustles that pay more require more time and effort. The opposite is also true.
No more than three side hustles at at time.
Not all side hustles are glorious, but the least attractive side hustles often pay the most.
If you come across a side hustle that says “get-rich-quick” — go the the next one. It’s just not true.
Commit, commit, commit. The biggest mistake you will make is giving up on your side hustle too early.
Remember, you landed on this post for a reason.
It’s not an accident you are here and you definitely are looking for ways to make extra money. Below is a list I started in 2016, and I have been continually updating it ever since. I want you to remove the financial stress and live a happy life. I don’t want you to have debt for the rest of your life and I want you to save more money than you ever thought possible.
The best way to move away from the financial stress is to live on written plan (a budget). Nine times out of ten when you look at your plan, you will realize you need extra money to knock out the debt and save more. This is exactly how this list will help you. Best of luck to you!
My Favorite Side Hustle Ideas Right Now
These first eight side hustles right now are my favorites. Right now during the COVID crisis, delivering food is the way to go to make decent money as quickly as possible. You can also do well as a virtual assistant for the same reason and make up to $50/hour.
1. Earn $15 to $25 Per Hour Delivering Food From Restaurants
DoorDash is my favorite pick for food delivery because I have been told from multiple delivery drivers that DoorDashers make slightly more than UberEats drivers. While I don’t have any factual statistics to prove this right or wrong, I still like DoorDash best as the top side hustle for food delivery. However, almost all of the delivery drivers I have had to the house will all say they deliver through both platforms so they can make the most money.
If you have a car, bike, or scooter, this is a great side hustle for anyone. There is a reason why this is one of the most popular side hustles around today.
DoorDash
Uber Eats
2. Earn up to $50/hour as a Virtual Assistant
Virtual assistants have been around for years, but during the economic shutdown due to coronavirus, the industry has exploded.
Businesses are turning to virtual support, which means virtual assistants are in high demand. In fact, many small businesses (like Money Peach) need help but don’t want to bring on staff to their location, so instead they turn to virtual support.
This virtual support can be a range of things from responding to and checking email, scheduling meetings, booking travel arrangements, updating social media content — really anything you can do online.
The starting pay for virtual assistants is really good — $15 – $50 per hour.
I would recommend starting off by posting on your social channels offering services as a virtual assistant. I still can’t believe how many people don’t do this — it is such a simple way to land a job for yourself.
And here’s a pro-tip: think visualization. Make an image using a free service like Canva to create an image with a headshot and all the tasks you can help people with online. This will definitely help you stand out above the rest.
What if I want to be a virtual assistant but need a little help getting started?
I would highly recommend reaching out to someone who is a professional virtual assistant and learning from them. Kayla Sloan started off as my very own V.A. in 2015 and today she has been teaching how to be a high-level virtual assistant to thousands of people all over the world.
And through her large network in the online space, she can even help you get your first virtual assistant job. If this sounds like something you would like to try, you can learn more about it here.
Learn How to Become a Virtual Assistant
You can also listen to Episode 80 on the Money Peach Podcast where interview Kayla Sloan — the founder of 10kVA.
3. Make $1,000 to $2,000 Per Month Running Facebook Ads
If you were a business owner, would you pay $100 to make $300? What about spending $10,000 to make $30,000?
This is why today over 7 million advertisers are using Facebook ads and these businesses are spending on average between $2,400 and $9,600 on Facebook ads each year. And with over 30 million small businesses in the U.S. alone, there is huge opportunity for people to create a lot of revenue creating Facebook ads for small businesses.
Bobby Hoyt from Laptop Empires has the best program for teaching people how to run Facebook Ads and he really will show you to earn $1,000 – $2,000 per month per client as their Facebook ads manager.
Of course I had to look into this claim to make sure it’s accurate, and I can tell you this — he’s not exaggerating at all. You can see how he’s helped countless people create real side hustle income to eventually replace their full-time jobs doing Facebook ads here.
Also, as I mentioned earlier this is not a get-rich-quick scheme. This is going to take 6-8 weeks if you’re moving quickly to not only learn how to do Facebook ads but how to get clients as well. Bobby will show you how, but you have to do the work. If you’re not willing to do the work, then I would move onto the next side hustle.

Think about it: if you could help a business owner spend $10,000 to make $30,000, would it be worth it to them to pay you $1,000 – $2,000 per month to do that for them?
4. Earn Money as a Freelance Writer
I have a good friend, Holly Johnson, that left her job in corporate America to pursue her passion — freelance writing.
She didn’t start off making a ton of money, but over time she created strategies to land more writing jobs, to find out what clients actually want in a writer, and how to be as efficient and profitable as possible.
Today Holly makes $225,000+ per year and if you follow her online you’ll notice something unusual — her family of 4 travels six weeks per year because she can write from anywhere in the world. Right now Holly writes for some of the largest well-known websites like Condé Naste, The Balance, Bankrate and Business Insider.
Keep in mind — you are not going to start off as a freelance writer making six figures per year. But, if you work hard you definitely can make $1,000 – $2,000 per month as a freelance writer.
How do you get started as a freelance writer?
You can do this the hard way by networking, pitching clients, and trying to price your services yourself. This isn’t a bad way to go, but it definitely takes a lot more effort.
Or, you could get help from a professional freelance writer. Holly has mastered her craft and she will show you exactly how to get started, how to get clients and how much to start charging your clients. She will also help you find the clients you want to write for.
In fact, many of the writers for this blog have come from Holly’s recommendation. She is the go-to resource for many bloggers looking for high-quality writers. And if they have been taught by Holly, then we all know they are high-quality.

5. Get Paid to Proofread
If you are someone (like me) that gets upset when you see your versus you’re spelled wrong or maybe the mix up between there, their and they’re — you are going to love this side hustle. Or maybe you are tired of seeing things like this in print:

Proofreading is a great side hustle (and career) that can be done from anywhere in the world. To learn more abut getting started as proofreader, check out Proofread Anywhere.

6. Earn Money Through a One-Page Website
One of the best decisions I made was starting a blog in 2015. This tiny little blog did not make any money that first year — it was merely a passion project about personal finance. However, the following year I made a little bit of money and every year since the blog has grown along with the income.
But you are NOT going to make a lot of money right now starting a blog.
Making money from a blog takes time and it’s not a great side hustle.
However, you definitely will increase your income by starting a one-page website for any services you are offering. Whether you’re a handyman, a Facebook ads consultant, a virtual assistant, a tutor, or any other side hustler, you must have a simple website for people to learn about you.
This is so simple and I cannot tell you how many people make the mistake of not taking the time to create a one page website.
How to Earn more money with your Own Website
If you’re looking to do any of the side hustles mentioned in this post, you’re going to want to create a simple website. Don’t worry — it’s extremely simple.
Let’s say for example you’re looking to get hired as a virtual assistant. Wouldn’t it be nice if someone could go online and read your “About Me” page, have the ability to contact you via your “Contact Me” page and even hire you through your “Work With Me” page?
No matter what business or side hustle you want to create, having a simple website will boost your credibility. Ask yourself this: if two people are offering the same exact services but only one of them has a website for you to learn more about, who are you more likely to hire?
If you’re looking for a simple way to get started building a quick website, I created a free step-by-step guide to help you get started. This guide will allow you to build your website in 15 – 20 minutes and for just a few dollars.

7. How to Earn Money with Affiliate Marketing
If you’re willing to put in the time and effort by starting a blog, then affiliate marketing can be a great side hustle. But remember, it takes time and effort.
With that said, when I created this blog in the beginning, I didn’t know anything about affiliate marketing. I just enjoyed blogging about how to create a budget, save more money, and pay off debt. That was until someone told me my blog could be generating thousands of dollars per month if I added in affiliate marketing.
Admittedly, I was super skeptical but I decided to give it a try.
I didn’t know what to do or how to get started, so I reached out to a blogging friend who started Making Sense of Affiliate Marketing . Within 60 days I increased the monthly income from my tiny little blog by $1,705 (and became one of her testimonies)
Yes, I was more than just a little shocked and since then I have told everyone I know about her program because it really changed my life. I don’t know about you, but $1,705 extra per month for making some tweaks to my blog is life-changing.
Keep in mind, making money from affiliate marketing takes time. Yes, you can make a lot of money from affiliate marketing, but in the beginning I would estimate only a few hundred dollars per month.

8. Earn up to $22/hour Tutoring Online
Maybe you’ve never heard of VIPKID, but it’s actually a household name brand in China. Currently, there are over 70,000 American teachers teaching English as a second language to over 600,000 children in China. The current pay for this reliable side hustle is up to $22/hour.
Before you get started, beware there are some barriers to entry to partner with VIPKID. First, they do require you to have a Bachelor’s degree from either the USA or Canada, and second they ask for “some teaching experience”. However, from a teacher I have spoke with from VIPKID, she said “teaching” doesn’t have to mean teaching in a traditional educational setting.
The lessons are 30 minutes long and you will be paid up to $11 for each 30-minute lesson. One thing to note is since you are teaching across the globe in a live setting, you will be teaching at odd hours (late at night or first thing in the morning). However, the teacher I spoke to said it was fun, rewarding, and it paid well for being able to stay at home and teach from her laptop in her kitchen.

9. Earn $600/month Renting Out Baby Equipment
I really love this side hustle right now because the feedback from readers has been extremely positive.
Imagine you’re getting ready to take a vacation with your small children and you start thinking about how you’re going the pack the stroller, the pack ‘n plays, and the crib. Then you start thinking about the car seats, toys, books, high chairs, carriers, noise machines, baby baths, bouncy seats, monitors, jumpers and every other little thing!
Today, that problem solved thanks to BabyQuip.
In 2016, a few parents got together and created BabyQuip to provide families with clean, safe and reliable baby equipment for rent. Since then there have been over 30,000 transactions and guess where the baby equipment is rented from?
If you currently have baby equipment stored at home, you can start renting it out in the over 500 cities across the US and Canada. To start earning money as a BabyQuip Quality Provider you need to apply online and once accepted you’ll have an interview. If you both feel it’s a good match, you will get onboarded so you know how to run your baby gear rental business.
Then, you get to work as little more much as you’d like. The average BabyQuip Quality Provider makes $600/month, with some providers as high as $5,000 per month. Also, once you’re accepted as provider, you will be added to the community where you can meet other QPs and learn best practices to make the most money.

The Best Side Hustles That Put Your “Stuff” to Work
I’m sure you’re fully aware, but a market has emerged and took over where your stuff actually makes money for you. This started with using your car as a taxi service with Uber or renting out your spare room through Airbnb. However, there is now just about a market for anything you can think of in terms of your stuff making money for you. I’m going to start off with the less obvious.
10. Earn $1,000 to $1,500 Per Month Renting Out Your RV
Rent your RV out like a VRBO or Airbnb with Outdoorsy.
If you’re currently an RV owner, did you know over 17 million RVs sit unused for 350 days per year?
Whether you own a large RV, a fifth-wheel, a folding trailer, a camper van or anything similar, there is plenty of opportunity to turn a profit with your RV instead of it sitting idle.
In fact, many RV owners have been renting out their campers for years on sites like Craigslist or through word-of-mouth referrals. However, there is also a lot of risk and unanswered questions when you decide to rent out your RV by yourself.
Now, more people are turning to the largest and safest online marketplace for renting out your RV — Outdoorsy. You can think of Outdoorsy like the Airbnb for your RV.
Outdoorsy also provides plenty of safeguards to protect you and your RV. For starters, all potential renters of your RV have to pass an extensive driving history check before they can request your RV. Also, Outdoorsy provide you the owner $1 million in liability insurance and will also cover any theft or damage.
In addition to both liability insurance and the background check, Outdoorsy offers 24/7 roadside assistance which really turns your RV rental into a fully passive income stream. I know I mentioned above you can make $1,000 – $1,500 per month, however Outdoorsy does state on their website you can “Earn up to $30,000 a year renting your RV to people you trust”.
Since I don’t personally own an RV, I did do some research and found that since their start date in 2014, Outdoorsy has facilitated over 240k RV trips and has over 10,000 reviews on Trustpilot rating with a 4.4 out of 5.
How it works:
First you will create a free account with Outdoorsy. Once your account is created, you will then create a profile for your RV. Outdoorsy walks you through the process of creating your profile to include things like the year/make/model of your RV, where it’s located, a detailed description, pictures, list of amenities, and your rules for renters.
Next you set your daily/weekly rental rate and post it to the site. Once someone rents your RV, Outdoorsy will release the funds to you via direct deposit within 24 hours of the start of the rental. Outdoorsy does take 15% – 20% fee from the rental.

11. Earn $700/month Renting Out Your Car
Turo is a peer-to-peer car sharing company where you can generate monthly revenue by renting out your car. With over 10 million users and 350,000 vehicles listed, Turo is a safe and reliable way to turn your car into a monthly revenue stream. Currently Turo is offered in US, Canada, the UK, and Germany.
How it works:
To get started you can list your vehicle (any make and model) for free. This process takes about 10 minutes and there are no sign-up fees or monthly charges for signing up.
Next, you can set your own daily price and rental rules for your car. Turo does have recommendations for you if you don’t know, but your pricing and rules for the rental are completely up to you.
Once a guest books a rental with your car, you’ll specify how your guest receives the car and will also “check in” your guest through the Turo App. Within three days after your car is returned and the trip is completed, you will get paid via direct deposit.
Turo takes a commission on the transaction, however in 2019 the average Turo host made $706 per month when they completed 12 trips per year.
The amount of days you would like to rent out your car is completely up to you and you’re also covered up to $1 million liability insurance through a partnership with Turo and Liberty Mutual.

12. Earn $1,000 to $2,000 Renting Out Your Room
Just about everyone has stayed in an Airbnb or at least knows someone who has. But, have you ever thought about making money with Airbnb?
This side hustle pays quite a bit because of what is at stake — you’re renting out a room in your house or your renting out your entire house. And, in some situations you may even be living with your guests during their stay. Whichever way you choose, this is still one of the most lucrative side hustles on the market.
How it works:
It’s free to list your space on Airbnb ad there are no memberships dues, sign-up fees, or any random charges. Instead, Airbnb earns a 3% host service fee per booking.
Once you’re space is listed, you can choose to make it available whenever you want. You also get to set the rules for your guests such as min/max number of nights and how far in advance they can book. As far as pricing, Airbnb has recommendations for you but ultimately you get to set the price you feel most comfortable with, including your cleaning fee, seasonal fees, or any other pricing options you think you may need.
Once your space is booked, Airbnb will usually pay you within 24 hours after the guest is scheduled to arrive via Paypal, direct deposit, or other methods if available. Airbnb also provides you with $1 million property damage insurance, $1 million in liability insurance and 24/7 customer support.
Again, I totally understand that renting out your room, house, or even living with a guest is a pretty big deal. However, you really can earn $1,000 – $2,000 this month and does not take much to get started. No marketing costs, creating your ow website or anything life that. Simply sign up for free, list your space, and start making really good money this month.

13. Earn $500 to $1,000 Per Month Renting Out Space
Peerspace is platform that allows hosts to rent their space for meetings, events, film and photo shoots, or anything else you can think of.
People are always looking for space to rent out for birthday parties, baby showers, film shoots, networking events, workshops, and a whole slew of other reasons that require space.
Renting out small spaces by the hour has become increasingly popular over the past few years, and now there is even a dedicated marketplace for it. And for those who aren’t ready to rent out a room in their home quite yet, maybe renting out your space for a few hours will work out better.
Whether you want to rent a room, your backyard, your office or meeting room, your garage, or any other space you can think of, the opportunity is there. And Peerspace is the leader when it comes to peer-to-peer space rental.
How it Works:
Once you set up a free account with Peerspace, you can create your listing, the rules for your space, the pricing, and the availability. Then you simply list your space and it will become available to whoever is looking for your space within the Peerspace marketplace.
Just like Airbnb, Turo, and Outdoorsy, Peerspace protects you with $1 million in liability insurance and you can also list your space absolutely for free. Once someone rents out your space through their dashboard, you will receive payment from Peerspace, minus a 15% commission Peerspace takes.
Most of the spaces I found during a quick search are in the $50 – $100/hour with a minimum of 2 hours. If you are willing to open up your space just a few times per month, you could easily generate $500 – $1,000 extra as a nice little side hustle.

14. Earn $50/month Renting Your Driveway
A college student at Arizona State University identified a problem and created the solution.
Parking near the campus was difficult and the homeowners who lived near the campus had a major problem with illegal parking on the streets. Jonathan Barkl, a 20-year-old college student at the time wondered if you could take the idea of Airbnb and apply it to your own driveway.
Air Garage is a service that allows you to rent out your driveway for parking in three simple steps. Step one is Air Garage installs a free sign that instructs the public they can pay to park in your driveway.
Step two is for you to install and get set up with their online dashboard so you can manage your driveway parking status. And step three is your driveway is available for rent and you start collecting payments.
If your curious to learn more, I actually had the Air Garage Founder and CEO on the Money Peach podcast.

The Best Side Hustle Ideas That Pay Quickly
These side hustles will not generate the income you can generate with the above list, but they are something you can do right away and get paid quickly.
15. Share Your Opinion Online
Yup, you can actually generate side income by simply giving your opinion via online surveys. It’s not going to make you rich tomorrow, but it’s still a great way to generate extra income during your down time.
I like to do surveys when I’m literally doing nothing else. For example, if I am in the doctor’s office waiting room, or my estimated wait time is 21 minutes or even if I’m riding the train — I may as well make some extra money.
There are also a ton of survey sites out there and I’ll be completely honest — 95% of them aren’t that great. But, there are a few good ones out there that actually have really good reviews.
The top two I recommend are both Survey Junkie and Swagbucks.
Survey Junkie has you answer surveys online (desktop or mobile) and you can earn points that can be exchanged for either cash or gift cards. For every 1,000 points you earn, you can trade them in for the $10 equivalent. Survey Junkie has over 14,000 reviews with a Trustpilot score of 4.5 out of 5 — the highest rating among all survey sites. If you would like to learn more about Survey Junkie, I have a full Survey Junkie review here.
Swagbucks is another great choice because you earn in other ways beyond just answering online surveys. You can earn when you shop online, answer surveys, watch videos, test out new offers from top brands, search the web, play online games, or use their mobile app. Similar to most other survey sites, you can redeem points for cash or gift cards. Since 2008, Swagbucks has paid out over $400 million and sends out over 7,000 gift cards per day. You can learn more here in my Swagbuck review.

16. Inbox Dollars
Another option for a quick-money-side hustle is Inbox Dollars.
Inbox Dollars is a rewards club that pays you in cash for completing a variety of online activities. This can include searching the internet, filling out surveys, printing off coupons, and shopping online. You’re not going to make a ton of money or anything like that, but If you are already doing these things, it makes sense to get paid for it too.
Inbox Dollars
17. Earn $3 to $100 Doing Random Tasks
Download the free Gigwalking App and then find “gigs” in your neighborhood that companies are willing to pay you for. Can you check out the price of milk in a certain store for $6 or snap a pic of a storefront for $5 on the way to work? Note: You will start off with the low-paying jobs in the beginning, but prove yourself and you will start getting offered the higher-paying jobs soon enough.
The Popular Side Hustles
Here are some of the well-known side hustles that have stood the test of time.
18. Earn $10 to $12 Per Hour as a Rideshare Driver
This is an incredibly popular side hustle and just about everyone has been in an Uber or Lyft before.
To get started, some minimum requirements you need are a car, a smartphone, and the Uber or Lyft app. You become available to drive as soon as you complete the activation process and then you are ready to start earning money. Fares are paid out weekly or up to 5X a day when you register for Instant Pay with your debit card!
The nice part about becoming a rideshare driver is it’s truly on-demand. You can work only when you want and you can drive as much or as little as you’d like. However, from the rideshare drives I have interviewed, the money is good, but not great.
Drive with Uber
Drive with Lyft
19. Fiverr
Fiverr is a platform where you can sell your products and services starting at $5 per gig. After you have a few $5 gigs under your belt, you can start increasing how much you charge. Here at Money Peach, I hire people from Fiverr all the time. Just recently, we found someone for a quick logo design and another to transcribe some videos we created.
Also, the Fiverr platform does take 20% from each gig. Therefore, if you do a $5 gig, you will take home $4 per gig. However, if you can complete 3-4 gigs in an hour, your hourly rate could start at $16 – $20 per hour.
This is a very popular side hustle for good reason, but keep in mind you may not make a of money when you first start out. It may not feel worth it in the beginning because you will need to do small jobs to build up your rating before you can start charging more.
Start a Gig with Fiverr
The Referral Program Side Hustles
These sites mentioned below are not to be used as a source of income, but rather a simple way to make a few bucks here and there. Most of them mentioned are ways to save money online, however they do offer gift cards for referring your friends. Again, not a big money-maker but more of a reminder you can still make a few bucks if you use any of these sits.
20. Rakuten (Formerly Ebates)
Rakuten is a company that has partnered with over 2,000 online companies to form an affiliate relationship with each of them. An affiliate relationship simply means Rakuten and each online company have created a partnership where Rakuten will refer you or I to buy something from them, and that company then sends Rakuten a thank-you referral.
The good news: Rakuten then splits the thank-you referral with you, and you earn  cash back. And when you refer your friends to Rakuten, you will get a referral commission. As of this writing, I have personally made $1098.48 since I joined Rakuten. Ninety-five percent of that came from referrals.
Even if you don’t plan on sharing your referral link, you still should sign up for Rakuten (free) and save money on all of your online purchases.
Join Rakuten
21. Honey Browser Extension
Honey works the same exact way as Rakuten — a refer-a-friend program.
Recently purchased by PayPal, Honey is a free tool that will search for online coupons and apply them to your online shopping cart to make sure you are saving the most money. Instead of searching for coupons one at-a-time and applying them individually, Honey does all of this for you in the matter of seconds.
Not only will you save money, but you can also make a little bit of money with their refer-a-friend program. For anyone you refer to the app, Honey will send you $5 as soon as they purchase something via the app up to $1,000. I have personally made over $3,000 with their referral program. You max out at $1,000 and then you need to create a new Honey Account and share out your new referral link.

The Create and Sell Side Hustles
Selling your stuff online is a great way to earn money quickly. Here are some of the go-to places for selling stuff online.
22. Offer Up
OfferUp lets you list and sell for free. It’s more of a “you’re on your own” site like Craigslist and LetGo, but is fairly popular and is well-organized. It also looks like OfferUp is surpassing Craigslist as the go-to place to sell your stuff locally.
23. Amazon
Selling on Amazon is almost identical as selling on eBay in terms of fees and ease of use. However, sometimes items that don’t sell as well on eBay do better on Amazon and vice versa. Either way, it is a side hustle worth looking at if you can buy for cheap and resell for a higher price.
24. eBook Publishing
Make money by writing your own book and self publishing it on Amazon for free. There are different options available for how your can price your book and earn income from the sale of your book in the Amazon store. Questions about self publishing your own book? Check this out.
25. Etsy
Instead of having to open up your brick and mortar store, sell your creations on Etsy. Whether you make clothing, crafts, baby toys, or jewelry, you can open up your own store at Etsy. I have a friend selling her awesome clothing line on Etsy and it brings in a very nice income for the family. This is another great side hustle, but don’t expect instant results. You may need to be patient for this one.
26. Craigslist
We all know you can buy and sell stuff on Craigslist, but have you ever thought about offering a service you can provide. If providing a service isn’t your thing, you can scan Craigslist for great deals and then later resell items for a profit. This takes persistence and patience, but I have a friend who went from a $4k truck to a $24k in truck in 18 months by flipping cars from Craigslist.
There are also many other sites competing with Craigslist and you may have better exposure by posting on these sites like Craigslist.
27. Zazzle
Make money on Zazzle as a designer by selling your artwork on different products or you can actually make and manufacture the products for sale. I have a friend who takes old dry wood and paints slogans on them. She needs to sell them on Zazzle; she could create a very quick and profitable side hustle.
28. eBay
You can have your own store up in only a few minutes at eBay. To start, you must have a seller account, must be verified through PayPal. You are even able to give a detailed description of your store with a catchy design to attract customers. I have a friend who will buy all of the unused bras at a last chance type of store and resell them for a profit at her eBay store. Last I heard, she was doing $1,000/month in her first couple of months.
29. Sell Your Photos Online
Do you take amazing photos? You can actually sell your photos online at places like iStockPhoto, Shutterstock, Fotolia, and Bigstockphoto. Photos can be sold over and over again, allowing you to earn a residual income!
The full list to sell your stuff online: You can see all the places to sell your stuff online here.
The Get Hired to Work Online Side Hustles
30. Do Transcription Work or Data Entry Work
Another great side hustle you can do from home is transcribing audio or video into captions. I personally have hired many people from Rev.com to do all of our captions for our videos and the quality is always great.
Rev.com says you can expect to earn on average $240 per month and you can also get paid weekly via PayPal.
I really love this side hustle because you can do this from home, on your own time, and work as much as you would like.
31. User Testing
Don’t want to do an online survey, but still like to surf the web and earn some cash? Companies will pay you to try out their apps or visit their websites and give them feedback. Usertesting and UserFeel uses your feedback on apps and websites that aren’t as user-friendly and then pays your for it.
The Some Skill Required Side Hustles
So, not all side hustles are for everyone. In fact, these ones below do require some skill to make money. But, the more skill you have, the more money you will make!
32. Become an Online Coach
If you have an idea and can help people, pay attention. Whether it is motivating someone, helping them pass a class, or teaching them how to build a website, this can all be done online. Setup you’re pricing, terms, and accept payment through something as simple as PayPal and you are on your way. I recommend using Skype or Google Hangouts since it is 100% free.
I currently have a group coaching program called Smart Money Academy. We have a community that meets live via Zoom calls and I teach people how to manage money — everything from to budgeting, debt payoff, savings, wealth building and more.
33. Create an Online Course
Is there something you are good at and can teach to others? My good friend Holly Johnson will show you how to get paid to as a Freelance Writer with her course Earn More Writing.
Another friend doing great things is Bobby Hoyt. He’s teaching people how to create Facebook Ads for small businesses with his online program, The Facebook Side Hustle Course. In fact, his average student earns $1,000 – $2,000 per month.
And, one of our former virtual assistants here at Money Peach left us to create her own online course — teaching people how to become virtual assistants. Her course is called 10kVA and her students are making up to $50/hour as virtual assistants.
34. Earn $900 Per Week Spray Tanning
A good friend of mine (Jessica) has become the queen of spray tanning in our area. In fact, she is making $900 per week cash spray tanning both the ladies and the men and it’s all through word-of-mouth! You can check her out at JC Glows on Facebook to see how she set up her side hustle.
I asked her how she got started and she said this:
She started with this exact tanning kit
She uses this tanning tent
She taught herself how watching YouTube
35. Earn $39/hour as a Voiceover Artist
You know those people who talk on radio and TV commercials but you never see their faces? They’re called voiceover artists, and they get paid good money to do what they do.
Sites like Backstage list available voiceover jobs, and Carrie Olsen, professional voiceover artist, has a great web site that can help you learn how to become a voiceover artist.
Check out this Money Peach Podcast with Voice Over Star Carrie Olsen for more info.
36. Make $200 to $300 as a Resume Writer
If you have a knack for writing compelling and attention-grabbing resumes, consider offering your services on sites such as freelancer.com, Craigslist, or on any social media platform.
When someone is going in for a job interview, it’s worth it for them to pay $200 – $300 per resume for a high-quality resume. In addition to writing resumes, you should also offer services such as writing cover letters and proofreading.
37. Catering
If you love cooking, serving food, and entertaining at your own home, then get paid to do it for someone else. This can be fun and can often go from side hustle to full-time if you’re really good at it!
38. Computer Repair
If you love “playing” computers, then help someone repair theirs and get paid for it. Note: You must know a little bit about computers.
39. Make $25/hour Teaching Computer Skills
How many Baby Boomers (or anyone for that matter) do you know who are still having trouble checking their email. If you were able to navigate to this web page, then you probably have the skills to teach extremely basic computer skills to an extreme beginner.
40. Make $300 to $500 Per Month Teaching Music Lessons
From singing to playing piano or any other number of instruments, parents everywhere are seeking music lessons for their kids.
If you have a gift for a musical skills, consider teaching that skill to local kids. You might be able to find jobs by looking on Craigslist, OfferUp, or Facebook Marketplace. You should also seek out local public school or homeschooling groups to connect with parents who have school-aged children.
41. Earn $300 to $500 Playing Guitar Gigs
A friend of mine finds guitar gigs online, on Facebook, and in the paper all the time. He shows up, plays for a few hours, and leaves with cash in hand. Note: you must be good at playing the guitar.
42. Earn $20/hour Doing Handyman Work
Some people are handy and others are not. Let your neighbors know that you are available to hang a ceiling fan, patch a hole in the drywall, fix an irrigation leak, or paint a fence. All can be done for them ASAP for a small fee.
