I continue to adore Fadel above all. Maybe because he's literally the only one who seems to be thinking in this entire show.

STYLE WHAT ARE YOU DOING. The fact that he has no clue that Fadel kills people somehow makes this absolutely hilarious.

Thoughts: Fadel and Style continue to be the main attraction for me. I've seen stuff floating around about Fadel maybe being a virgin and honestly, if they did that it would go a long way towards soothing my worries about this show. Style's way of flirting is so weird but also perfect because Fadel really has no clue what to make of it. His immediate assumption - that Style wants something - doesn't add up with all the wacky shit Style keeps doing to get his attention. Like the Kant kind of seduction - all smooth and over the top interested and very handsy - I almost think Fadel could handle better Maybe not the handsy stuff. But then I don't think Kant would even get that far Fadel wouldn't even entertain him the way Bison is.

But Style...Style is so obnoxious and exasperating that even though Fadel is sure that there are ulterior motives he's too confused and reluctantly intrigued to put up a proper defense? Because the way Style is going about it is so absurd that it loops back around to having to be about actually liking Fadel, because no one in their right mind would flirt like this otherwise.

Little does he know that Style is both nuts and shameless, a dangerous combination. Also, I think he really thinks that Kant is 1000% down bad and he wants to help his friend out. That's sweet. He's gonna be so mad when he learns the truth my god.

Kant and Bison fired for me a little better in this ep, but are still kind of falling flat as a romantic pair. I said above and I will say again that if Kant should thank Style because I do think that Style's conviction that Kant is down bad (not saying he won't get there but I'm still not really getting that from him at all, lol) did a lot of work in convincing Bison that he might actually be genuine, if a bit full on. It helps that Bison clearly wants to buy in, whether because he wants to be in love or because he's bored or because he wants to keep playing, I don't know. There's also the option that he could actually like Kant a lot, lol. Mustn't forget that one.

I am a little surprised that I believe Bison's feelings a little more. Maybe all his swooning when alone is a cheap trick to fool us too and then I will be the one with egg on my face (it wouldn't be the first time), but for right now I'm definitely getting more from him than Kant. But I kind of love that tbh. If Kant is going to get as unhinged as he does in the trailer ("do you think I'd go on living if you died") then this current version of him kind of makes sense, in a way? Also maybe I'm fooling myself because it was what I was hoping for but didn't dare to dream - a Kant who is super reluctant to fall for this guy because he knows the game he's really playing and then goes and does it anyway. And enough so that he's willing to risk his own personal freedom - which means leaving his beloved baby brother - to keep him.

Speaking of which, I didn't mention this last ep but I am glad it was way more about Captain Chris blackmailing Kant and threatening to take him away from baby bro that made him reluctantly take the case. Not just because it's less dumb than the novel but also because it both gives Kant a reason for reluctance but also a reason to feel like he can't back out. Stakes, man!

I also said this before too but I kind of love the way he digs for info from Bison? Like it's all OTT flirting most of the time and then just these casual little questions while he clocks the way that Bison diverts the subject whenever he gets too close to something he shouldn't - maybe I'm giving him too much credit here. We'll see. But I will say that I like that seem pretty evenly matched, in a lot of ways. I may not be feeling their "romance' right now but I am enjoying how well they match each other - no one is going to be bored here.

They're interesting, I'll give 'em that.

The Heart Killers: okay so we're starting very strong with a crime drama romance where First investigates Khaotung and Joong, who are brothers (?) and kill people. Then I got distracted because the song they used is the same they covered in MSP and I have still brainrot from that one. Also their names are Style, Fidel, Bison and Kant??? I cannot take anyone named Kant seriously, the guy almost made me fail philosophy in high school, I have personal beef with him. NEXT!

Revamp the Undead Story: ah yes, a classic horror drama. We have abandoned houses and pale vampires; people who cut their fingers on shattered glass; we have it all! I love how there is another vampire show to look forward to at this point. I was already waiting for Golden Blood with Gawin, but I guess I'll add this one to the list as well.

Perfect10 Liners: I genuinely have no idea about this. I feel like I've seen this story before. The only couple's story I find more interesting than the others is Mark Junior: they've had lovely storylines so far as a duo and I'm curious about their future projects too.

Ossan's Love Thailand: I am crying watching Earth making puppy noises!!! This definitely looks like a total change from his previous roles, where he was old, grumpy and mean, lmao. I guess everyone in the office seems to have a crush on him in this one, (which makes me think about Cherry Magic and how much of a green flag Achi and Karan were) (but the standards are too high on that one) and it's HILARIOUS hearing him complain to be too hot. I have never seen EarthMix in a comedy role so I am looking forward to this one: it seems ridiculous, can't wait.

The Ex-Morning: Aw, I'm glad KristSingto are back with something that isn't SOTUS, because I still haven't finished the second season of that one, but I liked them working together. This series looks like a riot and I will be seated. (Although they've shown one or two frames full of angst that I will most probably cry about so) (yikes) (they've decided Krist nails angst and put his characters in the most horrible situations, like) (give the guy a break)

Thame - Po: Heart That Skips A Beat: this story seems quite interesting, especially the life of idols and production companies. I might keep an eye out for that too.

The Dark Dice: this started as a school drama full of fights and blood, but suddenly turned into Jumanji/Saw and I am. Here. For. It.

Sweet Tooth, Good Dentist: I genuinely do not care about this, but every time I think about dentistry, James Acaster's voice comes up in my head and says: "Do the tooth teeth have teeth too?" and I think that's beautiful.

Break Up Service: this looks fun, not going to lie.

Hide & Sis: the title sounds so silly, but the show seems pretty fun to follow. Can't wait for it to be some Saltburn / Home School / Little Women (Korea) type of thing. I want the ladies to destroy stuff and kill people, I don't care.

Us: why does this look so angstyyyy??? where are my funny silly GLs???? where are my disaster wlws??? anyway, we'll watch, obviously

Friendshit Forever: another absolutely out of nowhere title, lmao. But this is Do Revenge with a sprinkle of A Simple Favor??? I will unfortunately eat this up when it'll come out. Also I love Mook and New, so this'll be fun.

Scarlet Heart Thailand: very fast, and I don't know the original story, so I have no idea what to expect. I love period dramas and the costumes look nice. I've read that the original doesn't end well, but yeah, the teaser is in itself very angsty, we'll see I guess!

Leap Day: this thriller looks quite interesting, but I don't know if I'll be able to watch it without being stressed for the entire run of it.

It's time!!! Let's see what we've got waiting for us!

Recaps! They really streamlined the season 1 story and hit some parts harder than others. Looking back, this appears to be a more S2E1 centric recap, presumably there will be more that showcase other plotlines.

You know, I think having let season 1 settle, I'm more willing to take it as a given and just see how season 2 builds on it.

Heeeey Mary being an awesome pragmatic monster hunter! I missed that! Always happy to see her being good at her job, even if she hates it.

…Okay, John and Mary’s almost kiss wasn’t a horrible scene, but it felt… oddly out of place, I gotta say. Like… timing, Mary? Really, you’re letting him do that now?

Also, not gonna lie, I legit thought that was Dean pulling a Big Damn Time Travelling Hero for a second. I know he’s gonna show up eventually, so, you know… figured.

But oh. So Roxy wasn’t an important character, it was just weird framing back in the day. What an odd artistic choice. And it also reframes many things that I think are playing to an audience that isn’t me and are instead maybe just more odd artistic choices.

Being a very plot-heavy episode, I wasn’t as invested. I think I’ve made it clear that I’m in this for the character pieces and the monsters of the week, but the overarching akrida plot hasn’t actually impressed me overmuch. So, you know, it was just… an episode. It was fine, but I was distracted because when I’m not invested in the character pieces, I start looking at the construction, and the Discourse, and John and his anger issues, which are not because of anything but a distant-but-caring father figure, are such… odd choices in this found family of people who are all defining themselves by the choices they make. It’s almost enough that there’s got to be some… there has to be a Reason for John’s behaviour. I just – I don’t see it yet, and it’s so frustrating.

This show frustrates me and yet I want to keep watching…! ARGH. Next chapter, then. (or back to chapter one if you care.)

FINAL THOUGHTS:

Loved this episode, it's really just building more and more on the crew's relationship and getting you to love them all together.... which has me believing that they're all gonna break up by the last episode. They wouldn't focus so much on making them a family if they weren't gonna hurt us at the end in the middle season, LOL. UGGGGHH.

And I really like how BAMF Stede became, but I'm worried that his "becoming a pirate" is counterintuitive to Ed's wanting to retire... I worry that this will separate them for a bit... like let Stede get it out of his system and whatnot? I dunno. Something just felt... OFF about them getting together biblically? Especially since Ed said he wanted to take it slow. Like it was totally consensual, because Stede made sure Ed wanted it before going for the kiss, but I think he has wanted Stede for SO LONG that he let his own love for him overshadow what he knows is better for him. Hmm.

Overall, I loved this episode. I like seeing the chess pieces fall into place for the devastating finale I'm sure we're getting next week, LOL.

Anyway, might be speaking too soon, let's see what Episode 7 has in store!!
