I just listened to the new episode of Split the Veil and Ghil Dirthalen (member of the community council) clarified a few things that had us a bit confused about the Game Informer article!

As many of us suspected, the Lighthouse is NOT in the Fade, but rather in its own sort of "reality bubble" in the Crossroads.

Solas is apparently trapped in the place that was intended to be the new prison for the gods (as the old one was failing).

The part about Rook's blood being connected to the Fade will be much better explained in the game.

i initially didn't want to talk about this scene bc personally i think it's been blown out of proportion but if you want to get real and talk about symbolism, I'll come to play.

For Belly's entire life, Conrad has been "the sun". She idealized him so much that all she could see was him and no one else could compare, leaving Jere in the shadows despite always being there for her (and literally being nicknamed "the sunshine boy")

So many people have tied this shot to that quote "For Belly, Conrad was the sun" and have understood the light here to be the sunlight radiating on Belly and Conrad. But the thing is—despite so many people's misinterpretations of the shot—it (he) is not the sun.

It's artificial lighting. It's not real.

He isn't the person she built him up to be no matter how many times she had convinced herself he was. She just didn't realize it immediately.

When Belly wakes up (that in itself could also be a metaphor), and she is able to think clearly and decide for herself what she wants and what she needs, she chooses Jeremiah. And what exactly happens when she does?

The sun shines on both of them. There is real sunlight bathing the shot because she doesn't idealize him and he doesn't idealize her, they see each other for who they really are and love each other anyway and that's what's real.

it's so important to me that it comes across that the sun shines on both of them. she didn't find a new sun, she didn't choose a different person to revolve her whole life around—she wanted the sun to shine down on her as much as it did her partner bc ultimately, she is now also choosing herself and what makes her truly happy.

History Paper: Ramshackle...

What exactly happened at Ramshackle?

So this is a tie in to that post because I thought more on the idea on how all of this gets found out. So, end of the year, the freshmen have to do a paper about the history of their dorm. Given that not much is known about Ramshackle, Yuu and Grim get the option to do a paper about NRC's history instead. They take it because NRC's gotta have better history than Ramshackle. Yuu continues cleaning out the dorm and stumbles across a hidden panel in the floor, they lift it up and see a very old box covered in webs and dust. They take it out and open it, surprised to see some very old paper Madols and some coins along with a journal.

Yuu calls over Azul to help with identify the year the coins were made and calls over Jamil and Kalim cause the writing in the journal is in their native language. Kalim and Jamil translate it, noting that it's in an outdated version of the language, while Azul says the coins are from many years ago. Yuu ends up finding more hidden panels in the floor, all filled with: various journals, money, pictures, and letters. They end up inviting the other named dorm members for help cause the journals are all in various mother languages.

It ends with Yuu finding a basement in Ramshackle and travels down it to see... a scorched covered room with broken cauldron pieces and... dried blood.
