Stupid waiters
A/N: Hope you enjoy.
Summary: Tom had a special evening planned and the waiter tries to ruin his mood.
Warnings: Bit of swearing.
W/C: 2.1K
Tom was incredibly annoyed as he watched the waiter flirt with you. He’d just come back from filming and he had a special evening planned with you but this guy was ruining that plan and his mood. You hadn’t noticed or if you had you hadn’t said anything. He watched as the waiter placed your drink in front of you and flirt very obviously (in Tom’s opinion) with you and he didn’t even spare Tom a glance. He huffed as the waiter walked away.
“You okay?” You asked him as he clenched his fist under the table.
“That guy is pissing me off.” He mumbled.
“Why?” You asked with furrowed brows and he scoffed lightly.
“Y/N, he is all over you.” Tom pointed out.
“Is he?” You asked looking genuinely curious, you hadn’t noticed.
“It’s so obvious!” Tom almost raised his voice.
“Tom, calm down.” You laughed lightly. “I’m here with you and I think that’s pretty obvious. I’m not interested.” You said as you reached your hand across the table that he gladly took as you laced your fingers together. He felt his annoyance wash away, you were right and this was a special night. You were here with him and he knows you love him, there’s not a second that’s gone by where he doubts that.
“Okay, I’m sorry.” He muttered and you squeezed his hand lightly.
“It’s fine. A little jealousy is healthy, I’ve been guilty a couple of times.” You laughed.
The main course arrived and although the waiter was continuing to flirt a little Tom found himself only slightly irritated now. That was until the waiter cleared the mains and offered a desert menu.
“Can I interest the lady in a desert, I’m sure I can recommend one as sweet as you.” Tom’s blood was boiling now and he watched as you cringed at the god awful pick up line.
“I don’t know, baby do you want one?” You asked Tom as you put emphasis on the nickname. That’s right dickhead, she’s not interested, she’s mine Tom thought and instantly cringed at his internal thought. You weren’t some toy he could lay claim but he was pissed with this guy.
“Yeah, we’ll have a look.” Tom answered as he watched the waiter visibly deflate as you made it clear you were here with him. He couldn’t help his smirk as he waiter wandered off for a menu.
“Okay, fair play. He’s pretty obvious.” You laughed.
“I don’t get it, you’re clearly here with me. Why is he carrying on?” Tom groaned as you shrugged your shoulders.
“I must just be irresistible.” You teased as you brought your glass to your lips.
“You are.” Tom said in such a matter of fact manner that you snorted.
“Lighten up. It’s not like it’s gonna work.” You playfully rolled your eyes.
“That’s not the point.” Tom said as the waiter returned with the menu. He eyed your almost empty glass.
“Another drink for the lovely lady?” He asked and you politely accepted and Tom nearly swung for the guy. He’d stepped up his flirting now from when you’d first arrived. Tom clenched his jaw at the interaction and he felt you smooth your thumb over his hand that was still on the table.
“It’s Y/N by the way, if you are going to insist on calling me anything it should be by what most people that aren’t my boyfriend do.” You said in a polite but stern way. He knew you weren’t one for conflict but he appreciated that you were reminding this dickwad that you weren’t interested.
“Y/N? That’s a beautiful name.” The waiter said with a wink and Tom nearly blew his stack, face going red with anger as he clenched his jaw so hard he worried he might crack his teeth.
“Erm, thanks.” You said awkwardly. The waiter smirked and Tom swears he saw his eyes drift towards him for a second before he left.
“Tom, calm down it’s okay. Don’t let it ruin your mood.” You tried to calm him down. “I love you okay and I’m here with you. I love you.” You smiled at him and he returned a tight lipped smile as he tried to regain control of his anger. He was calming himself until the waiter returned and just seeing him made Tom’s blood boil.
“Any desert?” He asked as you gave him your order, Tom hadn’t even looked at the menu.
“We’ll take the sticky toffee pudding and two spoons.” You answered for the both of you as you watched Tom shift in his seat. The waiter glanced at Tom for a second, smirking before he spoke.
“That desert is a lovely choice. Very sweet.” He said and he put so much emphasis on the words that Tom knew now he was trying to wind him up. Your hand found his as you squeezed again in a failed attempt at calming him down.
“Are you serious?” Tom said through gritted teeth as the waiter looked at him in fake innocence and Tom could have ripped his head off there and then for ruining his mood and plan.
“Apologies I didn’t mean to offend.” He said before walking away and Tom ran his hands through his hair messing it up slightly.
“I swear if he carries on I’m gonna hit him.” Tom grumbled and you gave him a sympathetic smile.
“I’m sorry Tom. We’ll go after this.” You said and he huffed.
“No, I’m sorry. I’m letting it get the better of me. I don’t mean to.” He said, had it been any other night he’d probably have contained his anger and annoyance better.
“No Tom, he’s being inappropriate. I’d be upset if I were you.” You smiled at him. You wanted to make him feel better as you watched the waiter return with your desert and although it was slightly inappropriate in such a lovely restaurant you found yourself standing up and Tom watched you with furrowed brows. You smiled at him as you made your way round to him and sat on his knee as you turned his face to look at you and connected your lips in a sweet kiss. One of his hands instantly finding your waist and the other holding your cheek.
Tom could swear he heard the waiter scoff as he walked away and you disconnected your lips as you smiled at him.
“I love you.” You whispered against his lips and he grinned.
“I love you darling, thank you.” He watched as you made your way back to your seat and he found his anger washing away a little at the gesture you’d made. He really did love you.
You ate your desert and it was actually very sweet as the waiter had said and you both enjoyed it. When he cleared the plate, looking much more deflated than previously you asked for the bill. When he brought it back, Tom got his card out to pay and the waiter made the grave mistake of bringing up one of Tom’s insecurities.
“At least he pays, I suppose it makes up for all those nights he leaves you alone.” The waiter said to you in a jokey manner and you visibly gulped. Of course this man knew who Tom was, he’d booked it under his name and who didn’t know who spiderman was? You watched as Tom snapped his head towards the waiter and his face was red with anger.
“Pardon?” Tom spat.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you but I assume when you film all these movies you leave her alone. I’m just reminding her that not all men would do that, you know, some men would be there all the time.” He fired back as he crossed his arms over his chest. Was this guy trying to lose his job?
It didn’t matter what you said, Tom always worried that he was neglecting you when he had to leave. Of course, you didn’t see it this way and told him so all the time, he didn’t have to be with you physically to be there for you and he proved that all the time. This guy had no idea what he was talking about. You felt your jaw drop at his rudeness and complete brazenness. He would not be coming back here to work ever again. You made you way over to Tom as you grabbed his tense bicep in your hands.
“Tom, leave it. It doesn’t matter what he thinks, he doesn’t know what you do for me or a single thing about our relationship. He’s not worth it.” You said as you tried to get him to calm down, that wasn’t happening.
“I have watched you throw yourself at my girlfriend in an embarrassing manner tonight. She made it clear she wasn’t interested and you persisted, which by the way, is wrong whether she is in a relationship or not. I will be reporting you to the manager of this place for your rudeness. Thank you for ruining my fucking evening!” Tom shouted at him as he made his way towards the exit.
You were dumbfounded for a second as you heard him shout. Sure, Tom had put people in their places before but this must have really bothered him, it took a lot to make him shout. You scrambled after him and had to almost run to catch up.
“Tom. Tom!” You shouted as you tried to get him to slow down. When he turned around you could see his bloodshot eyes and as you reached him you saw the tears brimming them. You placed your hands on his face and made him look you in the eyes. “Tom, forget what he said. You are there for me all the time. I know you go away to film but that’s okay, I’m happy for you to pursue your career, you deserve it, you’re so talented. Tom, I don’t know how many times I have to tell you that you don’t have to be there physically to be there for me. I love you and I don’t want anyone else.” You said and he sighed, looking down.
“It’s not just that. He ruined everything. I had this whole evening planned and I was gonna ask you to marry me and then he reminded me that you deserve better.” Tom rambled through his tears and you felt the breath get knocked out of you. He was what?
“You were- Tom what- you were gonna what?” You stammered out as you felt your heart rate increase. Tom must have realised what he’d said and he snapped his eyes to yours.
“Shit. I wasn’t meant to say that. I’m sorry.” He stuttered out before he took a deep breath. “Look I was gonna ask you to marry me tonight and he just-“
“Yes.” You interrupted him and he looked at you for a second, eyes wide.
“What?”
“Yes, I’ll marry you.” You said as tears made there way down your face, all happy, and he grinned.
“Really?” He asked as he fished around in his jacket pocket.
“Tom, I love you, you get me on a level no one, not even my family, ever has before. Of course I’ll marry you. No stupid waiter who doesn’t know what he’s talking about is gonna change that.” You laughed as he grinned and took the small box from a pocket in his jacket.
“At least let me do it properly.” He said as he got down on one knee, taking your hand in his. “Y/N. I know I’m not always here physically but I will always be there for you, wherever I am in the world. You make me a better person and I couldn’t be more thankful for you. You always push me to do better and you are my rock and I hope I can always be that for you. I promise I will always try and reciprocate the insane amount of love you give. I love you. So, Y/N L/N, will you marry me?” He asked and tears of happiness where finding their way down both of your cheeks.
“Yes, I love you so much.” You cried as you lunged yourself at him, almost catching him off guard as he only just caught you in a hug. You loved Tom and he was everything you wanted, needed and more.

Tumblr media
Before you guys even got together he’d always check up on you.
To the point were he subconsciously did it anywhere, and anytime
He’d give you small owl knickknacks or a snack before school started, or when it ended. Making sure you ate something that day.
Or he’d just try to make you laugh as much as he could during then
But sometimes he’d drop everything, and just give you a tight hug. Anywhere, no matter who it was in front of. Holding you close to him, not saying anything but you could hear him tripping over the words he wanted to say but just couldn’t.
He could tell it was a bad day where you’d come in and just sit on the benches or bleachers with both in mind but staring at the bright fluorescent gym lights. Where you’d just zone out mid-conversation and look at your feet or phone in disinterest. When you’d throw in a sarcastic self-deprecation joke when someone would ask if you’re ok.
Or when you’d have days where you’d stay up studying, doing your homework, and not sleeping for who knows how long when you come in with the energy drink in hand. Or the days when you’d get nothing done, and just sleep everything away and just deal with it the next day.
It didn’t take a therapist or a mastermind to tell you weren’t ok.
The nervous tics, the small lip bites, the impulsive “Let’s do something and think about consequences later!”
Bokuto knew he was just like the latter but at least it wasn’t all the time, so when he saw his bestfriend and crush slowly killing themselves mentally (and maybe physically, he was hoping not), yet cracking jokes about it the next second. All he wanted to do was run in and kiss you until all you felt was loved.
He just wanted to see you happy again
He felt like fainting everytime he saw you giggle or laugh at his antics(knowing Bokuto that has probably happened)
Or when you and Ahgkaaashi would hang out with him at the Owl section of the Zoo and pick out your favorite ones
When you two would try cooking some dish either of you couldn even try pronouncing and it ending in a mess. One he didn’t mind cleaning up when he got to talk to you throughout the whole time.
The times you’d have to turn in your work a little late because you were helping Bokuto cope after losing a game, which he felt bad about but you brushed it off with a genuine smile saying “I can’t leave poor Akaashi with Bokuemo for the rest of the week can I?” “H-Hey!”
When you and Bokuto would hang out in the bird themed cafe on the end of the street from school. And just be yourselves without having to impress anyone.
How you excuse yourself from the group of people you barely knew the names of, to go cry in the bathroom then come back as if nothing happened.
Times where you both forget your in highschool with insecurities, voice cracks, stress, and having to make a decision regarding the rest of your life by the end of it. And just laying in some random parking lot, staring into the blaring street lamp light and the stars behind it.
Bokuto loved it when you didn’t use the jokes to cover up how you felt. Or how you jumped to another subject when he would ask. When you tell him everything you’re feeling.,
The confusion, the way you didn’t know why your mind worked the way it did and why you felt horrible all of a sudden but fine the next.
You wanted it to stop, to have an explanation for the way you think and why. Yet now you’re telling no one, and clearly holding it in. Bokuto was now watching you letyour emotions eat you alive from the inside out.
He just wanted the you he knew. The you that he had so many fun memories with. Not the forced persona you played when you needed a cover up for how you truly felt.
This wasn’t the way he wanted to confess but it was getting all too much for Bokuto to watch,
Bokuto’s tears were streaming down his face as he had you held out in front of him. His body was trembling and his grasp was so shaky it was easy to break away. But you knew you could ever do that to him, or yourself. He clenched his jaw , not being able to lock eyes with you, a painful tug at his heart everytime he locked eyes with your hopeless look. You felt tears brimming your eyes yet you didn’t even know why he sat you down here. But you felt it was your fault, so immediately you let out a ‘Sorry-‘
Instead of an answer Bokuto pulled you toward him, pushing your head into the crook of his neck. You let out a choked noise as surprise, instinctively wrapping your arms around his waist.
“Why...why’re you saying sorry Y/N? I should be saying sorry for not helping you, I-“
Bokuto lost his breath for a second as a silent sob wracked his body, bringing you closer to him. Tears were falling down from your eyes but you could barely feel them as they became a stream.
“Y/N, I love you, I love you so, so much. Why are you doing this to yourself? You know you could come talk to me, I-I’m not the the best therapist but,-“
He let out a shaky breath, pulling you back out to look at you directly. You squeezed his arm that was holding you, reassuring him you felt the same way, but also to go on. Puffy eyes and a tear stained face looked at you sternly. “Please, please don’t keep these feelings to yourself Y/N. It hurts, it hurts me so much when I see you like this. Especially since you feel like you can’t come to me. I-, I-“
Bokuto bit his lip, clenching his eyes tight, forcing the tears that were already threatening to fall out. “I don’t want to see you like this. I love you, I love you.”The only thing lacing his tone is the sincerity in it.
He says it again to make sure you understood every word that came from him. But he didn’t need to. His grip so tight on your arms it almost hurt. But in a way, you didn’t mind it as it showed you how much more serious this was to him.
“You have me, Kaashi, the team, and honestly anyone! We all love you and what you have to say!”
You both give small shaky laughs, despite the situation, the tension slowly melting. He wipes the tears that were flowing down your cheeks, kissing each one after he did. You held each one of his hand. Squeezing them to give yourself courage, and to know this was all too real.
“Bokuto...I’m so sorry to you and everyone else. I- I locked myself away because I thought I would be bothering you and everyone and could just get over it then push the feelings down. But now seeing you...seeing you so much...pain, someone I love hurt because of me. I...I really realize how I was affecting everyone.”
Bokuto tried denying but you shook your head, your eyes that were looking down were now up at him.
“I’ve come to reality especially after seeing you like this Bo, I love you too, and I want to make it up to you this whole week! No, month...year? Whatever. I’ll be better for our future. And you know what, why don’t I help you with that math homework so we’re both gonna get better at something by the end of the week!”
Laugher filled the once cold room with a feeling of warmth that you couldn’t explain. Bokuto leaned in and gave a small peck. You were about to give a small hum in happiness. Until he pulled far back away from you in panic.
“I-Is something wrong Bo? Does my breath stink-“
“N-NONONO NOTHING LIKE THAT. ITS JUST...I just kissed you without asking...a-and I read in a magazine you’re supposed to do that or your crush won’t like you back!”
Silence.
But you interrupted it with your laughter, holding onto to one of his shoulders to not fall over. He had a confused look on his face as he fidgeted, not knowing what to do. “Y-Y/N! What?”
“You’re so stupid Bo,”
And like that you pulled him into a kiss, one he quickly melted into. He made a small surprised noise, but that was the only noise of complaint. The kiss turned into Bokuto giving you pecks all over your face. A giddy feeling in your stomach with each one. Between the kisses you say “Y’know I’m surprised you decided to sit down and read a magazine without testing on the real deal.” His face has a small flush, instead of saying anything he just kisses you aggressively all over, causing you to reel back and laugh harder. He pulls away from the assault and grabs your hand. He leads you over to the couch and hugs you as you both flop onto the couch. You looked at him confused, “Bo?”
But he just turned the TV on, clicked through the channels, until he found one he liked. He looked over at you excitedly, “Let’s cuddle and watch the movie I was talking about last week!”
The genuine excitement in his voice was all it took to have you wrapped around his finger. So now it was getting late and you were falling asleep to Bokuto gently rubbing his hand in circles on your back. And his faint smell of cologne luring you to sleep.
Tumblr media
Hey! Sorry if this is on the shorter side, but I tried packing as much emotion as I could into it to make up. I hope you enjoyed this, cause I added a few of my little issues into it so I hope you don’t mind. (Also along with some people ik) I really hope it gets better for you, hopefully by now even though this came out late (sorry really busy this month for some reason🧍) if you need anyone to talk to I’m always open to hear❤️..

The Balcony of the Treehouse pt.3
sleepy bois x reader au
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
“I want to preface this, I do love you all so much, but I'm incredibly disappointed.” Phil stared at the 4 kids in front of him. He knew his words struck as deep as they would to any kid hearing that from an adult important to them. Especially Techno, he strived to make Phil proud even more than Will. Y/n on the other hand, he wasn't sure of. She often was a chaotic wild card, and she didn't get much parenting from anyone other than him from what he's seen over the many years. Phil believes he's disciplined her more than her own guardians, and she listens to him. But she's also gotten herself in many tough situations all the same.
She's not necessarily his own, but he treats her as if she were.
Out of Techno and Y/n she was definitely not the mediator. The only time he's seen her relatively responsible, is when it comes to being home alone, and interacting with Tommy. Which both impressed him greatly, but not enough per say.
“I know all of you are stubborn, some more than others,” he directed his gaze to Techno, whos eyes seemed to hold more self loath than before, “but unless you all talk even a bit, it's only going to get worse.” he turned to Y/n and placed a hand to her shoulder, “i want you around. I know you don't tell me everything I should know, especially about home, but I know enough and I see enough. I want you here with us when you need us. And we need you too.” he watched as her eyes welled up with tears.
Y/n turned her head slightly to glance at Techno, who was finally looking at her for the first time since the night prior.
She watched his lip give a small wobble as his eyes seemed to fight back a bit of tears.
“He's not wrong.” Techno mumbled out.
Y/ns brows furrowed, “why would you need me?”
Techno looked at Tommy in Y/ns lap not wanting to look at her. Tommy realized he was looking at him, and upon seeing Technos teary eyes Tommys started to get a bit watery even.
“You're my only friend.. Who's gonna sit with me in the treehouse? Who's gonna listen to me ramble? I wouldn't get good morning hugs..i wouldn't get anything you do for me on a daily basis and i don't wanna think of that.” his voice was barely audible but Y/n could hear him. She felt a tear run down her cheek. Tommy looked up at her too, now wondering why everyone was crying. His face started to contort in baby-like sadness, smacking a hand on her leg, but not harsly. He was reaching up at her face. Y/n looked down at Tommy and her heart melted, she leaned down slightly and he set a small hand on her face.
“No more crying!” Tommy didnt often speak, he very much could, pretty well sometimes, he was just more physical usually when conveying his thoughts. Which made this situation all the more meaningful.
Phil was the only one who had looked at Wilbur yet, who was sitting silently watching Y/n and his little brothers, Wilbur had more tears on his cheeks than all of them. Well maybe not Tommy, but he was rivaling him.
Wilbur was realizing how Y/n really meant to Techno. But all the same, he was realizing how much she meant to him too. She was everything to him since he was 12 and realized he liked her. Since he was 15 and realized he loved her.
“Even Tommy needs you. Trust me, we all do.” wilbur said softly. Y/n looked over to him, her eyes softening, her heart hurt for him. Wilbur was really getting the worst of this situation.
Before she could say anything, he spoke again, “Techno i know you don't like how i feel but we're both being selfish. It very much isn't our decision to make for her.” he said to Techno but quickly looked back to her, after wiping away a tear, “not that i want to force a decision on you any time soon,” she nodded as she rubbed tommys back to calm him a bit.
“I just..it's..she's my Y/n” Techno looked at Wilbur, it was the first thing he'd said to him through all of this, and everyone was a bit taken aback.
“Your?” Y/n said, the most taken aback.
“I know that sounds bad but, but it's been us since..since forever!” his voice cracked slightly, he looked at her, “were us! Y/n and Techno! You're my person!” he was getting angry, “and you!” he looked to wilbur, “and you're my brother! You shouldn't get to try to take that away!” his face was growing red.
“That's not what i want! I don't want to steal her, she decides how she spends her time not me! If she wants to spend time with me shouldn't she be allowed to?” wilbur scowelled.
“I don't like this at all'' Y/n mumbled towards phil. “This is like some stupid cheesy movie with two brothers fighting over a girl. Its stupid to be frank. I think we should just..we should just get over ourselves yeah? Wilbur i..im not commenting on either of our feelings cause i don't want to. And Techno, I get that we are us and all, but I'm still my own person. I love you, and you're my person too, which is why you need to talk to me.” she wiped away all the tiers from before, as did Techno, and he nodded at her.
Wilbur was solem, he figured he was setting aside their problem as to not talk about it infront of Techno. At least he hoped that much.
“You're right, i'm sorry I was mad Y/n.” he felt entirely better.
“It's okay, no biggie.” She offered him a smile which he returned. “Treehouse?”
Techno nodded excitedly.
Y/n looked at tommy in his lap, he seemed less upset now, “see Tommy, not more tears, yeah?”
Tommy seemed to lighten up at that, so she looked to Phil who gave a silent nod and picked Tommy up from her legs.
Techno stood, looking at her to follow,
“I'll be a be up in a bit, go ahead.” she smiled and nodded towards the backyard. He nodded back and turned to go.
Phil left the dining room, leaving Wilbur and Y/n alone.
He looked at her with a small smirk, “do you still have my sweatshirt?”
Y/n's face reddened slightly, she pouted. “I wanted to apologize, you know.”
“You don't have to, Y/n” he chuckled.
“I slept in it actually.” Y/n mumbled, not looking into his eyes.
“In what?”
“Your sweater.”
His stomach felt queasy.
“Y-you did?”
“Erm..yeah. It was comfy. And i felt close to you..” she looked up at him, only to see the widest grin shed saw on him in a while.
“Well, i have a lot of them.” he leaned back in his chair, gaining a bit of confidence.
Y/n smiled shyly and stood up, “yeah because you're obsessed with spending money.”
“I'm so not!” he laughed slightly.
Y/n gave him a small giggle, “i'll see you later wilby.” her voice was soft and smooth, she leaned over the table and placed a small kiss to his cheek. Leaning back she watched as his eyes grew wide and his cheeks burned a faint pink before she turned to make her way to the treehouse.
Before he could get another word out, she was already outside.
Phil poked his head into the room, letting out an airy laugh.
“Yeah?” he said to wilbur, laughing at how shocked he still seemed.
Wilbur looked up at phil, “Dad?”
Phil nodded, “mhm?”
“I love her.” he had a starry look in his eyes. “Shes-she's-..” he was trying to think of a word when suddenly Tommy spoke up from phils arms again for the second time that evening.
“Pwetty!” he grinned and looked up at phil.
Wilbur and Phil both laughed softly.
“That's for damn sure..” wilbur smiled to himself and shook his head slightly.
Once Y/n had made it into the treehouse, Techno immediately pulled her into his arms. Y/n quickly hugged him around his shoulders.
Techno was tall, not as tall as Wilbur, but definitely taller than Y/n and tall for his age. He leaned down to rest his head on her shoulder as he hugged her.
Looking over his shoulder she noticed the contents of her bag on the floor, “so you found the book?”
Techno nodded into her shoulder, “can we sit?”
She nodded and slowly pulled away looking up at him, moving to the rug.
He sat in front of her, but reached his arms out. She smiled and moved to be in front of him, leaning back against him. They usually sat this way when he was reading, so he could either read to her or she could just sit close to him while he read.
Techno leaned his head on top of hers, and slid his arms around her waist pulling her close.
“Thank you for the book by the way.” he mumbled.
“Did you cry?” she smirked.
“I did cry. But not because of the book specifically.” he said.
“Oh.” her smirk fell. She put one of her hands on top of him, pulling it from her waist to hold on to his fingers. “Did you..sleep here?” she saw the way the blanket was on the rug and the book around it.
“Uh..yeah. I did.” he picked his head up to look at their hands. He flipped his hand so it was facing up, Y/n traced small patterns into his palm.
“I almost came up here..” she turned to look up at him.
Techno stared down at her, his eyes tracing each feature on her face. His free hand came off of her waist to tuck a strand of hair behind her ear, “I wish you had..”
Both of their eyes were lazy. “Will you tonight?” Technos eyes weren't on hers, they were watching her lips, and his hand was resting at the base of her neck, he could feel her pulse quickening.
“Yeah..of course.” she tried to contain her nerves at the way he was staring at her.
He stared at her a little longer before she moved his hand from her neck up to her cheek.
“You signed that letter “your Y/n”..” he mumbled, looking at her eyes for a split second.
“I did, yeah.” her eyes almost seemed glazed over.
“You're mine?” his eyes were wild, unlike hers. Her head lulled more to the side, into his hands at his words.
“Say it..i need to hear it please..” his words were so soft, but they felt like he'd just knocked the wind out of her all the same.
“I'm yours.” she stared at him, as he seemed to tense at her words. His eyes drifted to her lips again as he slowly leaned down to her, his face less than inches from hers.
“God..” he mumbled as his lips clashed with hers. She reached up behind her to rest her own hand on his cheek, pulling him closer.
Y/n could barely think clear with the way his lips felt on hers, he was being so gentle.
Meanwhile Technos thoughts were running rampant. The way her small hand felt on his jaw, the way her pulse was going so quick, the way her face felt so warm, the way she was still holding onto his other hand grasping it so tightly. And it was all his doing.
He pulled away for a moment, needing to know how she was feeling and what she was thinking.
As he pulled away Y/n gave a small whine, unhappy with how he moved away from her. Her eyes were still closed even as her brows furrowed.
He smiled softly down at her, he couldn't believe he'd kissed her.
Her eyes opened for a moment, finding his loving gaze.
He was about to pull her face back to his when they both suddenly heard a knock to the doorway of the treehouse.
Wiilbur was standing on the balcony outside the doorway. His eyes seemed almost empty.
“Dinners em..dinners ready. Dad sent me up to get you two.” he turned quickly, getting away from what he'd seen as quickly as possible, before they could see any sort of tears that had formed in his eyes.
This time it was Techno that had messed up royally.

ooooh idk if you’re still doing the fake title game, but maybe : “give into it”. 👀
give into it | hyunjae x reader (warnings: mentions of sex, it’s a friends with benefits au so ya know)
the first time is a mistake. one made with alcohol wafting in the air and running down your throats. one of those drunken moments where pressing your lips to hyunjae’s isn’t a big deal and stays that way when he kisses you back. and when he wakes the next morning, he finds himself hungover and you next to him in bed (a place you’ve been so many times before but never a place you’ve been in like this)
“well,” you laugh, a raspy melody that makes some part of hyunjae’s chest turn warm and soft, “i guess we can add that to the list of things we’ve done together.” you’re out of bed before he can add anything else.
the second time is a bad idea in younghoon’s words. “you’re gonna get hurt,” he tells hyunjae with a pointed look as he gets ready to meet you, hyunjae ignores the concern.
“younghoon’s just being annoying,” you whisper against hyunjae’s lips, pushing his jacket off his shoulders, “as if he’s never been in a similar spot before.”
“exactly.” he exhales against your skin, breath caught between his heart and lungs.
“wait,” you stop suddenly, taking a step back from hyunjae who instinctively leans in after you, “this is... we’re on the same page here right?”
“yeah. of course,” hyunjae affirms, pulling you close once more, “just two friends who sleep who occasionally sleep with each other.”
you both forget the rest of younghoon’s concern.
the third time feels... normal. it’s too easy when hyunjae gets distracted from the movie playing on the tv screen with a stray hand and a lingering touch. it’s too simple when he forgets the film entirely and chooses instead to focus on the way you tug at his hair and the feel of your shirt bunched up in his hand. the third time leaves hyunjae feeling like he’s yours. and if he had dwelled on the nagging sense of normalcy for a second longer, hyunjae imagines he would’ve left your place feeling alarmed.
the fourth time, isn’t even the fourth time if hyunjae’s being honest. but there’s a similar sort of intamcy when you show up at his door unexplained and crying. there’s a familiar sense of closeness when he presses small kisses to your forehead and spends the night holding you between his arms. it’s after the fourth time that hyunjae wakes up with his arm thrown over your waist and something like affection dripping from his fingertips.
“what happened?” he whispers into your hair when you wake up.
“god, it’s so stupid.” you murmur, burying your face into the space between hyunjae’s arm and chest. “just a terrible, terrible first date. one of those first dates that leave you feeling like shit.”
hyunjae hadn’t even known you were dating at all. “oh.”
it’s a week after that when you call him drunk.
“hyunjae,” you giggle, the sound coming warbled through the phone. “sorry did I wake you up.”
“no,” he sighs, rubbing the remaining bits of sleep from his eyes, “i was already up.”
“ah.” you don’t say anything after that.
“why’d you call?”
“oh right. well, i guess- well no, i erm,” you’re cut off by your own laughter. “i don’t know,” you finally sigh, “i just wanted to hear your voice.”
“well, hey,” hyunjae says into the phone, a smile pulling at his lips and a knot forming in his gut. “anything else?”
“no.”
“goodnight then.”
you say it back and hang up, so fast hyunjae almost doesn’t hear the way you whisper i wish you were here.
almost.
hyunjae calls you a few days after that night, and as the phone rings he briefly wonders if you’ll realize that’s this is the first time you’ve spoken since. “we should stop.” he declares before you even have the chance to say hello. “i don’t even know what to call this but whatever this is, we should stop.”
“hyunjae, what are you-“
“please,” he breathes, voice catching, “i can’t do this.”
click.
it’s unexpected to say the least when you show up at his place later that day. you look, well, rough, but hyunjae supposes he doesn’t look much better. not with the way he’s spent the whole day in bed, his only interruptions being younghoon coming in with food and a couple i told you so’s.
“you can’t do that,” you tell him, brows pointed together and finger wagging nonsensically. “you can’t just call me and end...” you falter at that, gesturing between the two of you “us.” you seem to settle on, and hyunjae can’t help but notice the way your voice turns sad. “i get if you don’t want sleep together anymore but we were friends way before we were ever fuck buddies.”
“that’s the thing,” hyunjae sighs, “i’m not so sure if i can go back to being just friends.” you stare at him, eyes wide and glassy. “i like you. and i know what we said in the beginning, no strings attached and all that, but, i don’t know, i still fell for you. and if i’m being honest, i might’ve fell for you before all that and-“
“thank god,” you exhale, cutting him off and falling into his arms. you laugh, a small chuckle of relief that feels so out of place in the midst of all of this. “i thought you hated me or something.” you admit, mumbling the words into his neck.
“does this mean...?”
“yes, you dummy,” you say taking his face between your palms, “i like you too.”

Cops and Robbers. A Bbrae AU
As much as Rachel enjoyed her job, she couldn’t help, but feel exhausted coming home at the end of a long day. Maybe it was the fact that she was on her feet all day, thank goodness for whoever invented flats. Still it was stable and fine work, a solid nine to five, giving her enough time to get home to work on her novel. The monotony of her daily routine was broken up when on her way home she noted a healthy handful of police cars driving around her neighborhood.
“Huh? I wonder if Dick could let me know what’s going on?” She of course was referring to her cop neighbor, Dick Grayson, but driving by his house, all the lights were shut off. “Maybe he and Kory are out.” She shrugged it off and parked her car before entering her home.
She moved through the doors of her modest three bedroom home as she usually did. Keys and mail on the table by her door, purse and jacket on a hook, turned on the TV for a bit of background noise and a nice cold beer in the fridge calling her name. She figured she’d make herself dinner, take a hot bath, and settle in for a night of writing.
With the news in the background she went about her nightly routine.
“—citizens of Jump city should be advised that the suspect could be armed and dangerous. For those who are just joining, please be on the lookout for Garfield Mark Logan, who escaped police custody earlier this evening—“
She took a beer from the fridge and removed the cap. “If his parents named him ‘Garfield’ they belong in prison too.” She commented dryly.
“—Garfield is wanted for the murder—“
She had gone to the counter when something had occurred to her. Going back she opened the door to the fridge and noticed something.
She was a creature of habit and structure, bordering on obsessive compulsiveness, but it made sense to keep her world in order at least. She had so much practice in fact that she noticed things out of place, even if it was just a fleeting glance. In this case there was something wrong with her beer. Was she missing one? She went shopping the other day, and only allowed herself and one a day or less, so surely she couldn’t have had more than one.
She counted a few more times, but came to the conclusion that she was, somehow, short one beer.
She took a step back when she felt something crunch beneath her heel. Lifting her foot she saw a pebble and some dirt, something she hadn’t noticed before. Didn’t she just clean the other day? Looking around she noticed more and more dirt leading from her kitchen and to the back door.
A back door that wasn’t locked.
If there was one thing she was absolutely sure about, it was that she ALWAYS locked her doors.
Her blue eyes flitted to the TV, noting the news report about an escaped convict, but surely he wouldn’t have run into a suburban neighborhood. That kind of stuff only happened in movies. Right?
She broke into a run, heading for her front door, but her hand had barely touched the knob when she felt someone wrap their arm around her waist and a hand clap over her mouth. Reacting purely on instinct, she stumped on their foot, eliciting a manly grunt of pain, and elbowed them in the ribs causing them to release her.
Momentarily free, she ran for the back door, telling herself she just had to get next door to Dick and Korys house. Nobody may have been home, but she would have felt safer in a cops home.
She weaved through the kitchen, aware that he was right behind her, but she kept her eyes on the door. She put her hands around the knob, but felt a pair of hands grab her arms and pull her back. She stumbled over something, him possibly, and fell backwards, hitting her head on the counter and collapsing onto the floor unconscious.
—:0:—
Her head was pounding as she slowly came back to consciousness, but when she tried to move her hands, they were stuck, in fact she couldn’t move any part of her body. Regardless of how much pain she was in, her eyes snapped open, finding that she was tied to a chair. Her hands had been pulled behind the chair, rope wrapping around her wrists and to the bars of the chair. Her ankles had been tied to the bottom rung of the chair and rope had been thrown over her lap, waist, and shoulders to keep her tied firmly to the chair back. Moving her head she felt one of her scarves had been stuffed in between her teeth and tied behind her head.
Saying she was in trouble was an understatement.
She wanted to panic, but she forced her rational, obsessive mind to take control. She took a few breaths through her nose to assess her situation. Looking around she was in her bedroom, the curtains drawn and the door closed. She had been tied to one of her kitchen chairs with rope that she kept in her garage that she used when she went camping to enjoy nature and solitude.
Her panic returned.
She had been unconscious, did he…?
She looked at herself, and aside from the rope she was still in the clothes she was in when she got home, white button up shirt and black skirt with flats, and nothing had been removed. Aside from the pain in her head, and the discomfort of the rope, she didn’t feel pain anywhere else.
Her rational mind returned.
So he knocked me out? Tied me up, but didn’t take advantage of me? He’s probably looting my home. But all of her valuables were in her room, were she was alone.
Still, a strange man was in her home, she was tied up and helpless. This wasn’t good.
Red and blue lights flashed outside her window, and a spark of hope lit inside her. Using her whole body, she began pushing the chair towards the window. If she could somehow get the curtain open, maybe someone could see her and possibly rescue her.
It was worth a shot, but not to be.
The door to her room opened and her chair was quickly grabbed and pulled away from the window. She grunted and growled behind her gag, struggling against the tight ropes. Whatever he was going to do, she was going to make it as hard for him as possible.
But she wasn’t expecting this.
“Sorry, sorry, sorry! Please calm down! please!”
She paused. Sorry? Please? She focused on the man, seeing that it wasn’t quite a “man” at all. He was young, twenties maybe, with disheveled blonde hair and a dirty complexion and clothing. His eyes were a piercing green that were pleading, fearful, and remorseful. Her brows narrowed, angry, but curious. What kind of home intruder was this?
He sighed in relief when she settled down. “Thank you.” He stood up and started pacing, his hands running through his blonde locks. “I am so, so, so, so, sorry about this. I didn’t mean for this to happen. Any of this. It's just—ugh!” She involuntarily flinched at his outburst. “Oh! Sorry, sorry, sorry I didn’t mean…” He continued babbling incoherently, that was beginning to grate on her nerves, but looking past him, saw that he had brought in a water bottle. For her maybe?
“Uughmph!” She grunted to get his attention, then motioned her head towards the water bottle.
“Oh! Yeah!” He grabbed it and brought it towards her. “Sorry, I’m just,” he paused, “wait, you're not gonna scream are you?”
She watched him closely, he broke into her home, attacked her, tied her up, and was now helpless and at his mercy.
Yet she wasn’t afraid.
Slowly, she shook her head no. He eyed her for a moment, but slowly came up to slip the gag from her mouth.
She moved her jaw around, sighing with relief, but didn’t scream. “Thank you.” She could see weight being lifted from his shoulders and a small, attractive smile on his lips. “Um, water?”
“Oh yes!” He brought it to her lips and allowed her a small drink. Her eyes closed at the liquid cooling her insides, helping to soothe and calm her down. She finished and he took the bottle away.
“Thank you.” She flexed against the rope. “Now can you untie me?”
The weight returned, and his smile faded into a worried stare. “Um… not yet, but if you don’t scream I’ll keep the gag out.”
Their eyes met, and still she couldn’t find any malice or maliciousness. She didn’t feel threatened, rather this felt like a necessity for him, self preservation, like a cornered animal.
Still she had to keep her guard up.
“Fair enough.”
He sighed again, becoming more relaxed, and he sat on top of her bed, a heavy silence settling between them. “So, um, you’re probably wondering what’s going on?”
She rolled her eyes. “I’m mildly curious.”
He laughed nervously. “Right. Well, um, I’m Gar, and I’m…”
“—on the run from the police?” He looked surprised, “you’re on the news. Everyone is looking for you.”
His eyes dipped with what looked like hurt. “Oh.” Her head tilted in curiosity as he leaned forward to put his head in his hands. “I’m so sorry…”
Now getting annoyed, “You’ve said that already.” She struggled against the ropes again. “Do you mind telling me what you're doing here?”
He lifted his head, wiping away a few tears. “Sor—erm, yes. Well,” he stood up, “I should start from the beginning I guess. So I was dating this girl, Terra, and I was crazy about her, but what she didn’t tell me was that another guy was obsessed with her. Some guy named Slade, I don’t know, but anyways he was stalking her, calling her, following her, all kinds of stuff.”
He slowed down, his voice tightening up. “I, uh, was at work, and when I got home…” his hands came up to his mouth, “she was…”
She couldn’t help but feel pity for him. “I’m sorry.”
He nodded, wiping his tears again. “Thanks. Anyways I called the cops and when they showed up, they arrested ME?”
Her head lifted. “What? Why?”
He shrugged. “I have no idea. They just showed up and slapped the cuffs on me! Do you have any idea what that’s like?”
She waited a beat, wondering if he was serious or just stupid. “No. I have no idea what it’s like for someone to come uninvited to my home and restrain me against my will.”
He chuckled nervously. “Heh. Sorry—I mean. Um… anyways…”
There was silence for a moment or two. “Why did you escape? Why not just go to the station and plead your case?” She asked.
“I did! I mean, I wanted to…but I don’t know.” His hands ran through his hair again. “The cop car they took me in was T-boned, and the next thing I knew I was running for my life.”
She quirked a brow as she came to the conclusion on her own. “You mean you broke into my home by chance?”
He nodded. “It was the only home I saw with the lights off at the time, I picked the lock, and snuck inside. I grabbed a beer and was gonna leave when the heat died down, but then, I heard your neighbors leave so I hid.”
“Then I got home, and the rest is history.” She finished.
“Yeah. I hid as best I could, but when I saw you see the dirt on the ground, I knew I was done.” He motioned to the ropes. “I didn’t mean to do that to you, but I didn’t know what else to do. I just panicked.”
She relaxed a bit. “I see.”
Silence again, this time a bit more uncomfortable. “So, um, what’s your name?”
He shrunk beneath her glare. “You broke into my home, knocked me out, drank my beer, and tied me up. We are not going to have small talk.”
He gulped with another nervous smile. “Cool.”
He clapped his hands on his knees. “So what now?” She asked.
He shrugged. “I’m not sure.”
She pulled against the rope again. “Well if you're open to suggestions.”
“I know, I know, I can untie you and I will, I promise. I just need to think.”
She rolled her eyes. “Well take your time, it’s not like my hands need steady blood flow or anything.” She softened her tone. “But seriously. You need to turn yourself in, if you’re innocent then an investigation will show that.”
He nodded. “I know, I know. I guess I’m just not a fan of being caged or anything.” He stood up. “Just, give me a minute.” He left her alone, giving her a chance to test the ropes again, but they were unyielding. She couldn’t help but feel impressed by his knot work.
After a few minutes of struggling she sat back and relaxed, unable to free herself she had nothing left to do but wait for him to let her go. Hopefully soon since she had lost the feeling in her hands a while ago.
Finally after what felt like ages he returned. “Okay, here’s the plan.” He untied the scarf from her neck. “I’m going to turn myself in, but there’s some things I need to do first, but here’s the bad part. I’m gonna to leave you here.”
She was actually relieved to hear this. He wasn’t dangerous, sure, but that didn’t mean she wanted to be a hostage. “But I’m not gonna untie you either. I’m gonna make a 911 call and tell them about a pretty dark haired woman tied up and get the cops to come and untie you. Sound good?”
Her face was placid as she responded, but ultimately relieved. “Do I have a choice?”
He chuckled. “I guess not. Again, I’m sorry about all this.”
He brought the scarf to her mouth to regag her. “Rachel.”
“Huh?”
“My name. It’s Rachel.”
He smiled. A wide smile that made her stomach flutter. “Rachel. Nice to meet you.”
—:0:—
The door burst open. “Police! Show me your hands!” Rachel flinched at the light shining in her eyes. “Is there anyone else in the house?” She shook her head as the officer came closer once the light was out of her eyes, she saw her neighbor, Dick Grayson remove the gag from her mouth.
“Took you long enough,” she droned, “did you stop for drive through?”
He let out a relieved chuckle, “Don’t you mean, ‘thank you for saving me’?”
“You’re right Dick, how about I give you a big hug… Oh wait.”
He moved behind her and began to undo the ropes. “Did you see who did this to you?”
“Nope.” She stated matter of factly. “They knocked me out and I woke up like this.”

Chapter 2: What is this, an interview?
Tommy was now restrained to a chair six feet away from the weird scientist alien. He had a dark brown lab coat with a fuzzy yellow sweater underneath, matched with black pants and black leather boots. His gold rimmed Harry Potter glasses slipped down his nose bridge a bit before he pushed it up and shuffled through papers. He wore a red beanie with a big whiff of his curly chocolate hair. His skin was a weird translucent grayish color with blue speckles decorating it. He had deep brown eyes with an odd electric blue circle outlining the pupil.
His tongue licked his finger as he turned the page. This was a habit that most of the weird teachers and counselors did. It always annoyed Tommy. This time fear was also mixed into that annoyance. His saliva was tinted blue and he had sharp teeth which immediately reminded him of a shark.
“You have shark teeth.” Tommy stated absentmindedly. Clearly, this caught the scientist alien off guard.
“I have what?” The alien asked, confused.
“Shark teeth.. ya know like the weird fish creatures that eat people.” Tommy started rambling causing the shark-alien to become even more confused and slightly alarmed. “I mean I think they eat people. That’s what the shark movie showed… what was its name, Jaws I think? I dunno, my foster mom freaked out in the middle of it and we went home. That lady was weird.. She made us wear itchy clothes and take weird photos before she sent me back to the group home.”
“What?..” The shark-alien asked. Tommy jumped a bit. He forgot he was rambling to a stranger. Alien stranger at that.
“Doesn’t matter.. What's the first question bitch-boy?” Tommy liked the way the alien jumped at the randomly timed insults.
“Er- right.. First off, what’s your name?” The shark-alien asked after collecting himself.
“Tommy Innit. Yours bitch-boy?” Tommy replied.
“Wilbur Soot. Stop calling me bitch-boy!” Wilbur huffed.
“Next question, bitch-boy!” Tommy emphasized the name, getting an even angrier expression in return. Wilbur’s weird blue circle flashed red for a second which caught Tommy off guard.
Wilbur took a shaky breath before asking the next question. “How old are you?”
“Old enough! I am a big man!” Tommy stated. Yet another thing that pissed him off.
“Age?” Wilbur asked, clearly irritated.
“18.” Wilbur raised a brow, “14.” Tommy huffed. His age should only be his business not some alien-bitch who didn’t even have his file.
“If you keep lying, I may have to get the truth serum from the back.” Wilbur half-heartedly threatened. Tommy, the big man that he is, did not get scared at that statement, only slightly unsettled which clearly showed on his face.
“Now, do you have a family?” Tommy tensed at the question. It was a touchy question and was not one that was asked often especially with his reputation.
“I am a big man. I don’t need a family to be great.” Tommy stated, happy with the answer. The alien-bitch shifted awkwardly.
“Right… What is your diet?”
“Umm.. I dunno, whatever I can find. I am allergic to nuts though..” Wilbur nodded in understanding and wrote things down in his notepad.
“What plants are poisonous to you?” Wilbur asked without looking up from his notes.
“Ermm, poison Ivy, poison oak… uh I think parts of rhubarb, and most wild berries. I am not sure other than that.” Wilbur nodded while adding bits to his notes.
“What was the place you lived like?” This time Wilbur glanced up to look at Tommy. This was again another touchy subject… How many times would this alien bitch get into the sad background?
“Shitty.” Tommy snapped. That was the only response the bitch was gonna get.
“Right.. Do you have music on Earth?”
Tommy scoffed, “Of course we have music, dumbass!”
“Can you tell me about the animals there?” Wilbur asked, almost hopeful.. which was weird. What was he hoping for?
“Erm I guess..” Tommy mumbled, trying to figure out where to start, “There’s a bunch of animals. Mainly on land. My favorite would be the cow.”
“What’s that?” Curiosity stained Wilbur’s face. This got Tommy excited; he was practically beaming as he started talking.
“Well they are these big ruminants that make milk and have horns. There are a bunch of types too like the highland cow, which obviously is the most poggers one. They are a Scottish breed with really long hair. I met one once, on a field trip his name was Henry.” Tommy rambled on for the next two and a half hours, jumping from topic to topic and explaining anything that wasn’t personal. He usually ended those paths with short insults.
——————
Wilbur hated to stop the kids' detailed story, but two and a half celestial hours had already passed, and Dream would be coming to check soon. Luckily, he had a couple new poisons that could pass off as a research development. He had even managed to send the distressed signal and no doubt Phil would already be there with the SBI craft ready to fly at any given moment.
“Alright Tommy.” His voice dropped to a serious tone causing the kid to stop his story of how he got poisoned by mushrooms on a camping trip. “You’re gonna have to trust me just for a bit. I am going to get you off the ship at the next stop but in the meantime I need you to tell me how allergic you’re to nuts.” The kid immediately tensed at the question.
“I am mainly allergic to tree nuts.. almonds being the worst. After a few minutes I can’t breathe properly and I usually pass out. The doctor said if I don’t get it treated within 15 minutes, death is most likely.” He took a moment to go through the information. The kid most likely has an anaphylaxis reaction to tree nuts. Meaning either he would have to know the exact time of landing and exactly where Phil was or he needed another poison that was less severe.
“Alright, here is what we’re gonna do. I have a chemical mixture that is similar to that of rattlesnake venom. I also have a chemical substance that numbs any pain you may feel. Side effects would include being very very tired and delirious over the next few days. Along with being knocked out for a good ten hours. To put it simply I am gonna fake poison you, in order to get you off the ship. It’s your choice if you’re willing to do it.” Wilbur paused to study the kid still restrained in front of him. It was odd how relaxed the kid seemed to be in a situation like this. He had no urge as far as Wilbur was aware, to fight against anything that happened. His complaints only being those that touched on personal matters. It was unsettling to say the least, and intrigued Wilbur. He really wanted to unravel the life the kid had lived before this and how he was actually dealing with the situation.
There was a long pause before the kid spoke, “I wouldn’t mind getting away from the weird smiley bitch.. plus you seem nice and to know what you’re doing so sure. Poison me bitch.” He said the last sentence with an enthusiasm Wilbur wasn’t expecting. He took a moment to rethink his plan, which was interrupted by a knock at the door.
“Dream says you better have advanced in your stupid testing. Otherwise he’s gonna kick you off the ship at the next stop.” Stated the rather rude blazeling, Sapnap. The blazeling never liked Wilbur and made a point to argue against any advancements at meals. That led to Dream installing a new system of emails and Wilbur eating meals alone.
“Yea yea, it’s going!” He yelled through the metal door.
“Better be.” The blazeling snapped before making a non quiet track back to his quarters.
“Stupid blazeling.” Wilbur grumbled as he sorted through vials and picked up new needles and measured out the substances. “We are going to start with the anesthetic then move onto the poison.” He softly addressed Tommy.
Wilbur swiftly disinfected Tommy’s shoulder and gave the needle. He then gave the second needle. Immediately Tommy slumped over. Wilbur swiftly took off Tommy’s restraints and moved him on to the patient bed in the back corner of the room. After the transfer was done he clipped the body restraints around Tommy and waited for the alert signaling landing.
After about five minutes the light next to the door turned blue. He moved over to his seat and clipped on the safety belts. The light turned green and the ship shook momentarily before a thud could be felt. Quickly as Wilbur could, he emptied the needles into the waste bin and waited for his soon-to-be-ex-boss to arrive.
Dream stepped through the door and glanced around the room before heading to Wilbur for his report.
“Report.” The dreamon commanded.
“The subject's body would have gone through a painfully slow death and have multiple organ failures if I did not intervene. The chemical mixes used created a conflict in the patient’s body which resulted in the patient falling into exhaustion as they recovered.” He responded in a monotone tone. Dream looked over Tommy. He flinched back in disgust as Tommy grunted in his sleep.
“Is that all?” The dreamon questioned.
“No.” Wilbur swallowed down his panic, “This is the last testing I will be doing with this crew.” The dreamon scoffed.
“I am assuming you’re getting off at this planet?” Dream spit. Wilbur knew he absolutely hated when people left his crew as he saw it as a direct violation of his loyalty.
“Yes.” The phantom stated, keeping his even tone apparent. With that Dream stormed out cursing in Siestian. Somewhere in the mess of words he told Wilbur to get his things.
Without hesitation he grabbed his bag from his quarters, which was held in a small room that branches off the lab. He half sprinted down the short hallway and straight to the bed Tommy was on. He swiftly unrestrained the human and sat him up. He slipped on boots and gloves then tied a cloak around the kid. He pulled the hood up and carried him off of the closest exit. There were faint yells from Dream down the hallway and reassurances from the only two beings that put up with him. And with that Wilbur was off to find the only craft he had ever called home. The SBI ship.

It had been nearly two weeks since she'd been rescued and brought to the medical wing. She was slowly starting to hate being here, she felt fine and just wanted to go back to her apartment in the compound. It also didn’t help to have the constant reminder from the cards, gifts and visitors that the one person that she wanted to see, still hadn't entered through the door.
Once more, Y/N awoke to the soft hum and the repetitive beep from the machines. Her blurred vision took in the soft light from the lamp and the navy sky beyond the window. It must have only been a couple of hours since she fell asleep after Clint’s visit.
She heard the door opening behind her, feigning sleep to find out who her visitor was. She couldn’t be sure if it was a certain super soldier paying her a visit, but after the team visiting her earlier who else could it have been? Y/N tried to keep her breath steady, hoping her heartbeat remained normal too, otherwise the machines she was hooked up to would betray her.
Footsteps edged towards the seat beside her bed and she couldn’t have been more relieved that she was facing the other way.
“Hi sweetheart.” Bucky’s voice was almost a whisper, “Sorry I didn’t visit sooner. Sam’s a tough bodyguard. But even he must sleep at some point. Hopefully, I won't have to sneak in every night for much longer.”
Her heart skipped as his words washed over her. Every night? She scolded herself for thinking he wouldn't visit and made a mental note to reprimand her best friend for keeping him away when she was awake.
She was glad that she had feigned her sleep and prayed that he would continue talking but silence filled the room. If it wasn’t for the whirring of his Vibranium arm or the slight deep breath he took every now and then, she would have thought he’d left.
Y/N heard the muffled voice of Bucky, she’d fallen asleep again, but he was still here, the dark sky was slowly lightening, and she focused on his words as best as she could through her hazy thoughts.
“- Wanda’s been baking cookies, Vision is slowly getting the hang of using doors and Natasha is losing her mind without her drinking buddy.” Bucky scoffed, “I miss my movie nights with you Y/N. It’s only been a couple of weeks but yeah, I miss it. I miss you.”
Tumblr media
“I shouldn’t have left you on your own. If I’d been with you like I was supposed to have been then you wouldn’t have ended up here...” Bucky leant his elbows on his knees, head in his hands and sighed.
His thoughts were consumed once more with the phone call he'd overheard, and the way Sam had protected Y/N without hesitation. The affection he had seen through the little window in the door; holding hands, forehead kisses, helping change her clothes, the laughter that filled the room.
Fuck it, I need to say something. Bucky steeled himself and sat up straighter.
“I should tell you this when you’re awake but I-”
A shuffle from the bed had Bucky’s attention, Y/N had rolled over to face him and began to rub at her right eye.
“Buck?” Her quiet yet hoarse voice melted him.
“Hi Y/N, it’s early, go back to sleep.”
“I’ve slept enough for the last two weeks to survive an early wake-up call.” Her sleepy smile beamed at him, squishing the side of her face further into the pillow.
“I guess you're right.” Bucky gave her a soft smile and ran his fingers through his short locks, “so how much of that did you hear?”
“Enough. Please don't feel guilty about what happened to me.”
“Y/N-”
She raised her hand, “Nope, it happened because I decided to leave at stupid o’clock.”
Bucky couldn't help but still feel responsible for what had happened to Y/N and now he felt worse for making her leave.
“I know you wished it was Sam on the mission.” His shoulders sagged and he sunk back into the seat. “I overheard you on the phone that night.”
He watched for Y/N’s reaction; her eyes widened, and mouth opened and closed several times but what surprised him was the way her cheeks were dusted pink.
“It’s okay, I get it. You two are really close.” Bucky stood up, collecting a brown paper bag from the floor and opening it.
Y/N’s silence made Bucky nervous, but he delved into the bag and grabbed the plums, placing them into the bowl. “I know it’s not much, but I remembered how much you liked the ones from the market.”
“Thank you, Buck.” She smiled, not taking her eyes off the fruit bowl on the table at the end of the bed.
Bucky headed towards the door and with a slight nod he left.
Tumblr media
Y/N sighed at the sound of the door clicking shut, her eyes still focused on the plums. Of course, he visited and brought something. She was annoyed at herself for thinking he didn’t care, that she was too wrapped up in her selfishness. Bucky had occupied the table at the end of the bed with plums and fresh daisies.
It was a reminder of their trip to Bucharest, revisiting his recent past. It was only a few months ago. They had eaten delectable fruit as they weaved through the market stalls, sat in a local park and made daisy-chains for hours. Bucky had delicately weaved the flowers and created a crown, placing it atop her head. When her attempt failed, she tucked a single daisy behind his ear.
Tears welled in her eyes as she thought of Bucky’s infectious smile as they laid in the luscious grass, the sound of the city muffled by their bubble. This was the moment that she knew that her crush was something more. Her heart had ached at the way he spoke of the women he had recently dated, and she obliged him with telling her own dating stories. They were all fake, but they eased the tension in her chest.
And now he knew, he had heard her phone conversation with Sam. It explained the way he had disappeared that night, he couldn’t be near her. Her mind reeled with how he had blatantly courted a woman in front of her, brought her back to the hotel suite. He was trying to tell her that he was not interested in her, not in the way she hoped at least.
The tears cascaded down her cheeks, small sobs racked through her already sore body. Bucky could never find me attractive, let alone love me. They had their friendship and that had to be enough. She used the heel of her hand to wipe at her cheeks, vowing to not cry over him anymore.
Tumblr media
Two Months Later…
Y/N eased back into training. It was difficult at first but slowly she got back into the rhythm of working out and after multiple therapy sessions, she was on track to returning to the field once more. She had her downfalls along the way but with the help of her friends and therapist, she picked herself back up.
A small smile rested on her lips as she stretched on the mats, ready for a sparring session with Sam. It was the highlight of her week, taking down the all-talk-no-action Falcon. Speaking of the devil, his laughter echoed across the room, catching Y/N’s attention. She glanced up to see her best friend, clinging to his sides at something he had probably said; Steve blushed, and Bucky shook his head in annoyance.
Y/N’s smile faltered slightly, seeing the super soldier had her thinking of how their friendship had changed since that night. Everything seemed like it was back to normal on the surface, but things were different, and she couldn’t avoid accepting that any longer. Sparring with Bucky was completely off the cards, he had confirmed that as soon as she was back in the gym.
‘I can’t spar with you.’ - No reason. No explanation. Nothing.
Bucky no longer joined her when she and Sam headed out of the compound to go shopping, trying new restaurants and bars. Movie nights were no longer their thing, he had brought Wanda and Nat into the fold. Not that Y/N minded the girls being there, but it was still a prick to her heart.
“Hi, erm, Y/N?” The male voice brought her out of her thoughts.
She continued wrapping her hands and gave him a slight smile, “Yes, Agent Reynolds?”
Y/N looked over the tall tanned man, the short caramel locks a mess on his head, a few strands sticking to his forehead. She had become fond of him over the last couple of weeks; not only was he an incredible recruit, he’d been a good laugh whenever they’d been in the gym at the same time. Much like earlier today when they caught up over by the water fountain before hitting their own routines.
“You can call me Marcus,” He rubbed the back of his neck, “I was just wondering if you’d like to go out for a drink sometime? Or dinner? Maybe?”
Y/N glanced over his shoulder. Eyes landing immediately on Bucky with his arm wrapped around Nat’s shoulders. Her stomach dropped and she turned back to Marcus, who patiently awaited her response. She knew it was time to move on, maybe a little bit of fun is what she needs right now.
She smirked and held out her phone. “With that uncertainty, I don’t know... How about we exchange numbers and you give me a call when you’ve decided on dinner or drinks, or both?”
Marcus’ cheeks dusted a light pink and Y/N was glad she hadn’t lost her touch. Maybe that only applied to the Super Soldier. Her charm and flirting seemed to have caught Marcus’ attention, so maybe it wasn’t her after all.
He punched in the number and called his phone, the little chime from his pocket confirming it had gone through. Handing it back to Y/N just as Sam jogged over to them.
“Are you ready to get your ass whooped, Y/N?” he chuckled, giving her a toothy grin.
Y/N tilted her head with a mischievous pout, “Oh boy, someone’s had their cocky pills today.”

ship request
“Would I be able to get a male ship for stranger things and marvel? I’m female, a virgo and I have a few piercings and tattoos (full sleeves). I have long split color hair (black and neon yellow). I’m very confident. I love to joke around and make my friends laugh. I like to be around people who can make me laugh too. I’m very social around my friends but I’m pretty quiet around people I don’t know very well. I do fire eating as a hobby and I play the drums. I kind of low key like attention even when I act like I don’t. And I really love cheesy pick up lines especially if they’re funny. I also like to draw, go ice skating, go to concerts, watch horror movies, binge watch trash TV or just lay around listening to music. I have a pet parrot whom I love very much”
a/n: okay, first of all, you literally sound like this cartoon character we all aspired as children… fire eating  - that’s so sick! Also, I hope you enjoy this, and would agree with my choise, but I think you match perfectly.
If YOU want to submit a request, click here.
Stranger things:
I ship you with Steve Harrington
Tumblr media
You like cheesy pick up lines? He delivers! First of all, he’s not the best at flirting, altough he acts all cool, and he was very popular... But let’s be honest, his main weapon are those pick up lines specifically. And you would come to Scoop Ahoy, where he would think you’re the coolest person INSTANTLY and be like “Know what's on the menu? Me-N-U”
Going to rescue or save someone, and understading eachother really well by making references to the horror movies. “Remember this movie we watched at your place?” “The one about the living puppet-serial killer” “Yeah! That one. We can do the same thing that the blonde girl did”.  “Absolutely!” And everyone else is like... whaaaaat
Driving to concerts to the other towns together. You would sing along to the songs in the car, and he would just sit with the heart eyes.
Him wanting to get a tattoo as well, because he loves yours tattoos sa badly. And you would tell him all about getting tattoos and treating them.
Him always bragging about you to everyone, because he genuinely believes that you’re the coolest person he knows. Telling Dustin all about how good you’re in music, how well you draw. And Dustin becoming your No1 fan after you perform fire eating once.
“Hey, loser!” You entered Scoop Ahoy, greeting Steve. “Hi, Robin!” The girl waved you and nudged Steve slightly. “Emm.. Ah, Hi!” He blinked and stopped staring at you so intensely. “You good, Harrington?” You asked smirking. “Peachy” He answered and tried to fix his hair immediately. “Alright, I’m gonna go change”. You eyed Steve suspiciously and headed to the back of the cafe to change into your sailor uniform. Honestly, it didn’t match you looks much, but the tattoos and the hair color definitely made it spicy.
“You’re drooling, Harrington”. Robin smirked at Steve. “That’s not true!” Steve protested. “Just ask her out already”. Robin groaned. “You’re getting annoying”. The boy turned back to the cashier and spoke again “I will. When you’re out of the cafe”. Robin thought for a second, and then tugged her hat down, and leaned on the same cashier. “Okay, I’m outta here! Ciao”. She slides under this cashier and headed towards the exit. “Wait, Robin! Where’re you going? Your shift isn’t over”. “Don’t care! Bye”
With that you appeared dressed in the blue shorts and a blouse. “Where did Robin go?” You questioned. “I wish I knew”. Steve sighed. “So...” He looked at you with hope. “What?” He looked almost as if you were supposed to know all the feelings and emotions behind the simple stupid “so”. He licked his lips at least 10 times in the past two minutes, and his eyes were going back pans forth to your face. At this point you were almost concerned about him. Steve always seemed so confident, that was the part of him that you admired. Now, in contrast, he was so nervous. “Are you sure that you are fine?” Steve gulped and inhaled sharply. “Positive. Look, I heard there was a new horrible movie in the theater, doyoumaybewannacomewithme?” You laughed. “Sure! Why not? Is it a date?” “Ah, erm, yeah, i guess... if you want, i mean i don’t...”
“Relax Harrington”, you said. “I would love to go out with you. Especially if the movie is as bad as you said it was”
Marvel:
Tumblr media
I ship you with Peter Parker
He’s smitten by you and your confidence! And for some reason I can see the best friends to lovers dynamics. He would be all.. “Ahem... Look... I like you?”
Always arguing about who’s picking a movie for the movie night, and ending up watching what you wanted, because he can’t argue in the end.
He would help you to dye your hair, even though he wouldn’t know how. But you would tell him what to do, and he would be very nervous, but make it really pretty in the end.
Hanging out with him and Aunt May and slightly mocking him together with her. “Hey, Peter Tinkle!” “Saints! How did I earn this?”
You find out about him being Spider-man, when you go ice-skating together, and you trip, and he moves practically from another part of the lake (let’s imagine this is countryside) to catch you within a second. You’re very close. Awkward eye-to-eye contact. You smirk. “So that’s what you were hiding, huh?”
You were sitting on the fire escape of you apartment with Peter. It was almost night. One of those short and warm May nights in the city, when you can't even notice that it was here. It doesn't really get dark or quite - everyone is out, and the lights never turn off. Today you and Peter passed your last exam, and decided to celebrate, drinking coke on the fire escape while your parents were out of the city. "Do you think I would make a decent super hero?" You were swinging you legs, looking at the city.
"I bet you would be so much better of a super hero than I am", Peter sighed and chuckled lightly.
"Don't say that", you turned to him, "You're the best spider-man. Honestly, I think, you're my favorite hero", you layed your had on your hands.
"Like in the world?" He raised his eyebrows.
"Well, maybe second favorite after Black Widow", you laughed.
"Ouch! What's so special about black widow?" Peter leaned on the window behind him, taking a sip of his drink.
"First of all, she's badass. Then, she's a hero, even though she doesn't have any serums running through her veins. And finally, she's Russian, as far as I know. Isn't that epic?" You gestured actively, weighing up all the pros Natasha Romanoff. Peter smiled lighly at the sight of that.
"Okay", he said. "You win".
"That easily?" You eyed him suspiciously.
"Yeah, I like badass women, who can do some crazy dangerous stuff", he answered, tilting his head.
"Like what?"
"Like fire eating", he said simply, and you felt your face heat up a little.
"Are you hinting at certain someone?" You asked with a smirk.
He took a deep breath and sat up straightly. "I like you. A lot", he closed his eyes, apparantly, affraid of your reaction.
"Well, I guess, that makes you my favourite super hero after all".
I'm so sorry for the delay of doing your requests, guys. School has been crazy lately. I'm going to handle it all soon. Have a great day!

What about an mc that acts like a foreigner everytime a situation with the warlords becomes difficult?? Like nobus like "youll go to war with me" and theyll just make a weird face and act like they don't understand and speak broken thick accented japanese. Choose ur faves from the bunch ! Or whoever u have good ideas for ;)
ah, the Selective Dumbass. i made mc a foreigner, they’re fairly fluent in sengoku japanese. the character selection here’s Wonky ahaha one for each forces baby but y’all listen i have unfunctioning brains. also last foreigner mc i tried to avoid the stiff language (that can be taken as me making fun of foreigners) and i’m gonna try it here so like,,, please don’t cancel me i have a family to feed
oda forces
—mitsuhide:
you’ve pulled this off several times. all to horrible results, really.
that time he confronted you of your knowledge about him being a traitor, the time he practically told you to go with him during the bubbling rebellion, all the likes.
each time, you pulled a confused face at him as if he’d spoken some moon runes and switch to broken japanese. “i,, not know,,,,, what talk,, you,,,,,”
it’s hilariously stupid, since the two of you know that you can, in fact, speak language. mitsuhide was close to splitting his sides in pure amusement. and even with his metal mask on, he still let a foxy grin slip past.
“why, little mouse, did i not give you enough teachings it seems? perhaps i should give you more work to do.”
you knew in every possible way that he was as torturous a teacher as he is with his victims. and you desperately wanted out. but you’ve done so hard to dig this hole, the condensed spite inside your body said no.
“i’m,,, not know, still.”
you feel your braincells vanishing.
and he kept pushing, teasing. from that point on, he gave more homework for japanese and you’ve decided to dislike him for the rest of your life solely for that.
but hey! it gets worse.
that was only at the suface level, if the situation wasn’t too serious. but if it does:
the bitch uses your language.
he’s probably known by now what language you use, and will probably learn it just to know if you’re keeping any secrets. but now you’ve been utterly cornered. there’s no way to escape this now other than to bonk your head and get amnesia or just normal brain damage.
he still hasn’t lived that down.
uesugi-takeda forces
—yukimura:
perhaps the first time you used such a comical “strategy” (a poor excuse of one) wasn’t at the best moment.
it was when he found out you were the chatelaine of azuchi castle. the betrayed and conflicted look on yukimura’s face sent a wave of panic through you, telling you to not let the friendship you’ve built so strongly crumble.
and the first option you went with, is to scrunch your face. “you,,, uhh,, not s-sense make,,?”
“. . .what?”
you’ve done it, you’ve distracted him from the topic at hand. and you’ve also successfully drained 90% of his braincells. “what,, are you trying to cast a nonsense spell on me, boar enchanter,,,?”
even as he continues to jab at you, the hesitancy from pure confusion was clear.
“hey—! u-uhm. .”
you wanted to jab back in your own signature way, but then you realized you had to keep up the clueless persona.
“why’re you being so silly all of the sudden? i—”
“shhh! i—erm, not understand—?”
you managed to stall the discussion for another day. and he still remembers it, and also teases you at certain times.
misc. forces:
—kennyo:
the first time you met at the night of honno-ji, kennyo didn’t think much about your ‘defense mechanism’ by sputtering through the japanese language then promptly running off. he thought it was from just fear or something similar—he was, in his own words, a demon.
but the second time, he encountered it again in its fullest degree. he’d kidnapped you for ransom, and you were very scared, rightfully so.
and just like any movie villain, kennyo more or less explains what he’s going to do to you. and your reaction was to feign cluelessness, your once frowning face was now looking at him as if he were an alien.
“i,,, what,, you m-mean,,?”
now, kennyo knew you were a foreigner. his spies told him such. but once you displayed that you didn’t know language and what he meant (even if it’s fake, but he doesn’t know that yet), he felt a bit more guilty.
in his eyes, you weren’t only a chatelaine with horrible luck, being in this situation, but you were someone who already had trouble outside of his dangerous grasp.
and so, he explained it to you at least like,, 3 times in the most careful way he could. but you’re stubborn also, and you kept up the act, one that wasn’t,, even really good acting.
to an outsider’s perspective, it played more of a cartoon come to life.
eventually, he left with a sigh, and you still “”don’t know”” what he’s talking about.
whether or not he found out later,,,,, u pick :)

Don’t mind me I’m still having Howl brainrot
I really like him
And after I watched the movie, I realized his dynamic with Sophie is so good and like.. even though I love him, I kinda felt I’d either ruin his happiness with her if I wriggled an S/I into the mix.
I think I just came to peace with it all though. I won’t have as spectacular of an adventure with him like Sophie did, but sometimes Ghibli films show beauty in the casual too.
I think I’ll put myself into their lives about a year after the movie ends. Howl and Sophie and their little found family are living happily together. I somehow stumble across Sophie’s path, probably at some market, downtrodden and looking wholly uncomfortable in clothes I clearly don’t wear often. She, the kind soul she is, asks me why I’m crying.
I wipe my face and quietly whimper, “It’s ridiculous, but I seem to ruin everything I touch. The shop I work for keeps losing customers, no matter how hard I work. My mother just told me that her and my father only seem to fight when I’m visiting. I was just on a date with my boy.. -hic- ex-boyfriend, and he told me over the appetizers that it can’t be coincidence that even aspects of his life I have no matter in… got worse not long after we began seeing each other. Oh, I don’t know why I’m telling you all this, but I simply feel I must have been born cursed.”
“Cursed, huh?” She says, almost forgetting the vegetables in her basket as the events not long ago play through her mind. Curses are no joke, she knows for sure, but she hasn’t come across the idea of being born cursed. She’s only known Howl about a year, though, so maybe it could be true. She offers me a proper handkerchief that I bury my tear-stained face in. “I’ve got an idea. If you’ve got nothing else to do today, come with me. We can have some light lunch and talk more over tea. I’d hate to just leave you crying like this in a market.”
I nod and slowly get to my feet, as I had been sitting partially obscured by an empty market stall. Sophie offers me a light reassuring pat on the shoulder, but in my mindset, I recoil. When she apologizes for scaring me, I mumble, “I don’t want my bad luck to get onto you, too. Best not touch me.”
“I’m sure you’ll be fine,” Sophie says in a quietly cheerful way, leading me out of the market, “I have some people back home for you to meet, I’m sure they’ll be able to cheer you up.”
So we walk a ways, with me slowly getting less sad and becoming more my usual self. By the time we get to the door for the castle, Sophie realizes I’m quite a kind and lively person, not much older than her. She understands better why I feel cursed; a delightful, albeit self-deprecating person can’t consistently meet such poor circumstances by pure chance.
She opens the door and invites me in. She takes off her hat and I feel a tiny curl of jealousy, not unusual for me, at her easy beauty. It doesn’t tint my view of her, as I consider myself an exceedingly homely person on a regular basis. She has shown me kindness, that’s what matters. She calls into the place, “I’m back from the market, I brought someone along to visit! Come down and meet them!”
We step into another room, with stairs leading up and out of sight. In front of a crackling fireplace sits an old woman, who turns and smiles at us. I give a shy wave.
“Hey Sophie,” I hear a voice, looking to the staircase to see the source. Not seeing anyone, I look around. The old woman hadn’t spoken, where had the voice come from?
“Hello Calcifer,” Sophie speaks, facing the fireplace, “I was wondering if you or Howl could help myself and Remington out.” I look at her, then at the fireplace, then rub my eyes. The fire has a face. The fire was the one who’d spoken.
“Eh, I’ll see what I can do, I guess. You know I don’t care for strangers,” the fire speaks, visibly eyeing me down. I feel self-conscious, fingers mindlessly playing with the fabric of my clothing.
“Remington may be a stranger, but I’m sure you’ll all love them. Polite, kind, funny, we had quite a nice conversation on the way here.”
“Sophie!”
A voice calls out from the staircase, for sure this time. My eyes tear away from the animated fire and land on a young boy, bounding down the stairs, followed by a small dog. The child hugs Sophie tightly and then looks at me.
“Why’d you bring some strange lady home with you?”
I flinch very slightly, feeling very out of place.
“Markl, this is Remington. Please don’t refer to them as a ‘strange lady’ like that, they’ve had quite a rough day. I thought maybe I could cheer them up, and maybe get some advice about something they brought up.”
The fire, Calcifer, speaks again, “You sure know how to pick your friends, Sophie.”
“Oh?” She turns back towards him, “Why do you say that?”
“Well, I don’t know the full story myself. What was the thing they needed help for?”
I look at Sophie, and she glances back at me. “I think you can tell it better than I could, so go ahead.”
I shuffle, my hands clasping together as I feel all the eyes in the room fall on me.
“Sophie found me crying in the market,” I start, “I was trying to be quiet but she found me anyways. I told her, uhm… I, uh, know it sounds really silly now that I’m not actively super sad.. I just believe I was born cursed?”
“You said that as a question.” Calcifer quips.
“Well, because I do believe it, and I feel I have all the proof I need to back myself up. But it just sounds stupid.”
“Curses are real.” The old woman sitting in her chair pipes up.
“Well, I know magic and spells and curses are real,” I stumble over my words, looking between the woman and the fire. “I’m just not.. really special enough to have incurred a curse from anyone.”
A deep voice drifts down from the top of the stairwell, “Huh. That sounds oddly familiar, doesn’t it Sophie?”
I sigh at yet another person hearing my tale of woe, only to glance at the stairs and see a beautiful wizard making his way down the steps. I feel my embarrassment rise a notch, why are so many people involved in my sob story now?
He reaches Sophie and gently kisses her forehead, reminding me of the pain I’d felt earlier at losing my boyfriend to my curse. It figures those two would be together, they’re both so beautiful
I feel a slight tearfulness threaten behind my eyes, so I look back towards the fire. “It seems like everything I get involved with ends up getting worse. The shop I work at has been in a decline since I started working there, my family only fights when I’m involved, and my.. erm.. now-ex-boyfriend caught on and said I was ruining his life, so he dumped me.”
“Why’d you bring them home with you, Sophie?” The young boy asks again, now looking a bit angry, “What if they’re right? What if we start fighting or something?”
“Eh,” Calcifer starts, looking as contemplative as a fire can, “It’s not as cut-and-dry as a curse, here. I do sense magic, but no birth-curse.”
My shoulders sag.
“Remington, right?” He continues, looking directly at me. I nod. “You’ve got innate magic ability. Anyone ever tell you that?” My brows furrowed, I silently shake my head. “That explains it. You’ve been sending out sporadic zaps of magic since you got here. You’re not in control of them, but you probably have been feeling them as little spurts of energy that go into your twitches and fidgets. Usually magic kids get noticed and apprenticed to a magician of some kind to learn to harness their own power, but somehow your parents or whoever was in charge of you seemed to miss it. Now you look to be in your twenties, and usually a magician by your age has at least mastered and learned to outlet their own magic. Without control or a structured outlet, your own magic just pings out of you and into your surroundings.”
“Oh,” I say, eyes drifting to the floor for a few moments. Then I muster up a smile and look at Sophie. “Well, that’s certainly not what I was expecting.”
“You’d better find someone who’ll apprentice you at your age,” Calcifer says, not wholly unkindly, “because your magic won’t just stop now that you know about it. I hate to say this, but you’re unintentionally gonna ruin your own life with this stuff.”
My forced smile falters. “I thank you for your information, Calcifer. Maybe I should get out of your kind abode before I start wrecking it, huh?”
If fire could shrug, he definitely did so, “I’ve just been countering your pings, it’s pretty tame, so you have no chance of wrecking shop while you’re here.”
“Then let’s have that lunch I promised you,” Sophie reaches out and lightly brushes my arm, and my smile quickly becomes real again.
“I’d like that.”
—-
Basically, after this scene plays out, we have lunch together and Howl speaks up as I’m about to leave and says he’ll take me as an apprentice.
And I eventually start to fall in love with him, but don’t want to get between him and Sophie, nor do I think I’m good enough for him. Sophie is kind and encouraging and tells me she didn’t think she was pretty enough for him at first, either. But she’s okay with whatever Howl’s heart tells him to do, because she loves him and is comfortable in knowing they’ll always love each other.
I don’t want any Howl and Sophie angst in my ship with him. I’d like to think her and I could share him comfortably and be good friends with each other.

The Curious Disappearance of C. Cullen
Tumblr media

“This week on Buzzfeed Unsolved we’re investigating the disappearance of C. Cullen, as part of our new investigation!”
“New investigation?”
“Are vampires real?”
Shane groaned. “Oh no. No no no. Absolutely not. Nope.”
Ryan let out a laugh. “What, you don’t believe in vampires?”
“No Ryan, I do not.” Shane shook his head. “And you know what, I think I might believe in them even less than ghosts!”
“Oh wow.” Ryan laughed again. “Why are vampires so much more unbelievable than ghosts?”
“Because Ryan. They’re stupid! That’s why!” He slammed his hand onto the desk with some force. “If vampires were real, we’d know about it.”
“Well what if it’s like in the movies and they’re all just living in secret?”
“Oh, c’mon. There are cameras everywhere nowadays. You don’t think we’d have caught some guy just munching on another guys neck till he drops dead at some point? Then turn into a bat and fly away.”
“Well you’d just say it was fake if we did.”
Shane paused for a second then shrugged. “Yeah, that’s probably true.”
Ryan shook his head, then faced the camera. “So, this episode of Supernatural is a going to be a little different.”
“How so Ryan?”
“Well… we’re not going anywhere. There’s no location footage this week guys.”
“Yeah, this week we just thought, ‘you know what, not feeling it.’” Shane relaxed back in his chair. “We’re gonna sit back and take it easy.”
Ryan ignored him. “The reason being, well two reasons actually. One being that, at least I figure, if they were real, vampires aren’t, err… trapped, shall we say, to one place. Therefore, if they were real, they’d still be free to leave a place. So, we’d get there-”
“And we’d be talking to no one.” Shane interrupted.
“Exactly.”
“Imagine that.” Shane continued. “Going to a supernatural hotspot, just talking to the air…”
“Would you-”
“Wouldn’t want that! Would we?” He threw his hands up in the air. Ryan just stared forward, looking into the camera with an unimpressed look. “Wouldn’t we just look dumb! Just yelling into an empty room, expecting a response.”
“Erm, excuse me, we’ve gotten plenty of responses!” Ryan defended.
“Pffft.” Shane waved his hand.
“You know what, I’m just going to continue.” Ryan said matter-of-factly.
“Please.”
“The other reason we’re staying here, is that this case is from England. And we just couldn’t find time that worked for us, as well as crew members to do a quick trip to another country.” Shane nodded with Ryan. “I did look around the location, y’know on Google, and err, it’s just a bunch of offices now, so…”
“Not as exciting as our last trip there.” Both of them shook their heads.
“Now,” Ryan straightened out the file in front of him, before looking to the camera. “I am going to admit, right off the bat…” He quickly peered to Shane. “See what I did there?”
Shane nodded.
“Vampire… Bat…”
“No, I got it Ryan. That was a good one.”
“Thank you.” Ryan smiled while Shane rolled his eyes. “Anyway, I have to admit, I, err… I’m already prepared for some… criticism, shall we say.”
“What, because vampires aren’t real?” Shane said sarcastically.
“No. Well, I guess that’s part of the debate isn’t it?”
Shane sighed and shook his head, looking straight to the camera.
Ryan continued. “What I mean is, that this is case we’re investigating, is one of the oldest cases we will have covered so far on the show.”
“Oh really? Interesting.” Shane said, genuinely intrigued. “What’s the oldest so far? Witch trials right, gotta be.”
“Err, well that’s the oldest full episode, I think. But there’s some of the ancient alien stuff we looked at-”
“Oh right, yeah.”
“But the Salem witch trials were 1690s. But the case today dates back, roughly, to the 1640s.”
“Wow. That’s pretty old Ryan.”
“Yeah, which is part of the problem. Because it’s as old as it is, the erm, documentation of it is… It’s not great.”
Shane let out a small laugh. “So, what you’re saying is, you’ve got shit.”
“No! No… It’s just we, meaning our tremendous research team, we’re usually able to get multiple accounts on stuff, and can cross reference information, you know, so we can put together a more valid case.”
“So, you’re telling me, that before the videos even started, this case has no credibility and is crumbling through your fingers as we speak?”
Ryan sighed. “Look, I feel that what we have is defiantly something. I just want to make it clear; it’s just not as backed up as our usual content. You know we try to keep it as honest as we can here. So, I figured, I’d be upfront about this, before people start yelling at me through the comments. Obviously, I’m not going to put together an episode if there’s absolutely nothing, cause that’s… that’s just telling a made-up story off the internet isn’t it?”
“Hmm,” Shane nodded. “Okay. Alright. I will reserve my judgement for the end.”
Ryan laughed. “I doubt that, but anyway, let’s get into it.
- - -
“Legends of vampires can be dated back millennia, and stories told of them are found globally. Many ancient cultures had tales centred around the nocturnal undead, reanimated corpses spreading disease to the living, or blood drinking spirits all that hold similar characteristics to the modern idea of what a vampire is.
The idea of blood drinking became very ingrained into the lore of vampires. It was once believed that the blood of a living person, contained that person’s life force, and to drink it would allow another creature to absorb that life force. Some even thought that by drinking a person’s blood, that the drinker would also gain the characteristics of that person, allowing the vampire to better disguise themselves amongst the rest of society.
The word ‘vampire’ itself only came into use in the mid-18th century, from fast spreading tales told in Transylvania, and was later further popularised due to Bram Stoker’s novel Dracula, which was published in 1897. It’s Stoker who is credited for defining the modern vampire, after combining multiple myths together for his book.
In most folklores, vampires were believed to be the revenants of evil beings, or an unrested deceased person who had committed unforgivable sins in their life, but it became a common belief that a living person themselves could become a vampire by being bitten. The belief in some parts of the world became to extensive that it led to mass hysteria, which resulted in many people being sentenced to death, usually by burning.”
- - -
“What’s interesting to me,” Shane started.
“Yeah?”
“Is just how wholeheartedly people, back in the day, believed in this stuff!”
“Yeah. I did come across something, and can I just say, the historical research in this case was very interesting… Like, go look up vampire history guys.” Ryan pointed at the camera. “But anyway, in, err, Greece I think it was, was that after three years, they would dig up dead bodies and they’d be examined.”
“To see if they’d become vampires?”
“Basically.” Ryan nodded. “And if they hadn’t decayed to standard, or whatever, then they’d be ‘dealt with accordingly’” He said, adding air quotations.
“Who decides,” Shane snickered. “Who decides what a suitable decomposition is?” They both laughed. “Were they just like, ‘hmm, no, too much meat left on ‘im’”
“‘toss him in the fire!’” Ryan added.
“‘Into the pit’,” Shane mimicked throwing something over his shoulder. “‘Bring in the next decayed body!’”
“It’s like a line at the doctor’s office.” They both chuckled.
- - -
“Now, back to the case at hand. In early the 1950s, construction workers in London were working to fix up a number of buildings that were destroyed by bombs during World War Two. In one particular location, the damage caused actually led to the discovery of a basement-like room, that had been previously built over, remaining hidden for centuries. Upon further investigation, it was determined that this room was originally part of an Anglican church that was destroyed during the Great Fire in 1666, and was never rebuild.
Inside this room, many historical artefacts were found, but some of the most interesting, at least to me, were a journal and a stack of documents, that belonged to a previous pastor of the church. It is worth noting that the year 1640 is written on the first page of this journal, but it is up for debate for how long this journal was kept. The documents that were recovered, have been since entitled the ‘Crusades of Evil’.
Unfortunately, over time a lot of the writing on these pages has become too faded to accurately read. But enough can be made out to get a good sense of what they’re about. In short, the pastor of the church would lead hunts for all manner of unholy creatures. Almost all of them resulting in the execution of people who were thought to be these creatures. These documents contain the information about the accused, which was essentially just a name and location, if that, as well as what they were accused of doing/being, and the method of execution. Most of the documents found were signed a S.C. Cullen. But, thanks to the journal that was found with these papers, we know that the man in question was named Samuel Cullen.”
- - -
 “No middle name?” Shane asked.
“Err, no this guy didn’t write his whole name. Unfortunately.”
“And am I correct in assuming that the unknown ‘C’ initial is perhaps the same as our missing person’s?”
“It is certainly believed that the initials do come from the same name, yes.”
“Interesting…” Shane paused for a moment. “You know… just to switch subjects here,” He huffed a laugh, “And I want this on record, this guy already seems like an asshole… I’m very against the whole idea of burning innocent people to death…”
“Oh good, I’m glad.” Ryan said sarcastically.
“But, I gotta say… Crusades Against Evil! Sounds like a badass movie!”
Ryan chuckled. “To be honest, when I first read that… I did think it sounded like some kind of shooter video game.”
“Oh! Like Doom! You ever play that?” He mimed holding up a gun, and pointing it around the room. “Vampires just popping up, like bangbangbangbangbang!” He ‘aimed’ at Ryan. “Kaboom.”
Ryan just raised his eye brow. “You done?”
“Yeah.” Shane sighed, smiling to himself.
- - -
“Not much is known about Samuel Cullen, other than the fact he was the church pastor during the 1630s and early 1640s at the very least, according to the papers found. And the journal that was found, was unfortunately in an even worse condition than the documents. That being said, one legible section did make reference to a son, and if you were paying attention, you’d have noticed I said most of the documents were signed by Samuel. Some however, were signed C. Cullen. Which has led many conclude that this C. Cullen was the pastor’s son. But when efforts were made to find out more about this man, researchers came up empty handed, and found almost nothing. Not even a first name.”
- - -
“Not even a name?” Shane said loudly.
“I know.”
“So I take it that it was Samuel naming his son after himself?”
“Err, yeah. At least that’s what most people think. Which, honestly, I think is a fair conclusion to make.”
Shane nodded in agreement. “That’s kind of sad, that we’ll never know this guy’s name.” Ryan hummed in agreement, and there was a brief moment of silence. “I bet it was Clive.”
Ryan laughed. “Clive?”
“I dunno man, first name I thought of.” Shane shrugged.
“You thought of Clive before, like, Christopher? A much more common name.”
“Aaa, this is an uncommon guy though, Ryan.”
Ryan shook his head, not commenting.
- - -
“As I said, Samuel seemed to be very enthusiastic about the hunts he led, given the number of documents signed by him. His son however, only seemed to have taken charge in two of these crusades. And if it is to be assumed that the documents were kept in any sort of order, then that would mean, these two accounts from the son were much further apart in time, than that of Samuel’s. It’s also worth mentioning, that C. Cullen’s papers were noticeably longer in length, even if too faded to fully read. But this does suggest the man was, perhaps, more detailed in his telling of what happened, or even maybe had more compelling evidence of what he believed to be a supernatural creature. Researches involved believe the most likely scenario is that Samuel put his son in charge of the church and of the hunts, when he was old enough, as the son’s involvement doesn’t seem to be much later. But that his son was much more hesitant at doing the job at hand. Therefore, leading Samuel to decide to take over once again, possibly to save his own or his family’s reputation.
One document in particular sparked interest, when upon further inspection, it appeared to be written by both Samuel and his son. When comparing the handwriting, it was concluded that it was mostly written by the son. Starting with what seemed to be a description on a group of people living underground. This most likely meaning the sewage system at the time. Bible verses can also be found, such as Leviticus 17:10-14, which quotes ‘And whatsoever man there be of the house of Israel, or of the strangers that sojourn among you, that eateth any manner of blood; I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people.’. But the account of the raid itself, as well as what is assumed to be the execution details, was written, and signed by Samuel. And no evidence of C. Cullen can be found after this point in time.
Which begs the question, what happened during this crusade that meant C. Cullen was unable to complete his own documentation? Was it a conscious decision to leave for good? And, what became of him?
- - -
“See,” Shane started, “I know where you’re going with that that question…”
“Yeah?”
“And I don’t like it…” He sighed.
- - -
“One theory as to why he vanished, is that it during this aforementioned raid, someone fought back against him, and he was killed in self-defence. As mentioned, this attack was written to be on a group of people. Consequently, it seems pretty likely that this group would fight back, given the chance. So perhaps C. Cullen met his match, and ultimate end in this way. Similarly, could it be that he was killed accidentally? Many historians agree that these types of hunts for supernatural beings, would have involved a large number of people. Could it be, that in amidst the chaos and disorder of the crowds, undoubtedly fuelled by fear, that C. Cullen was killed. Perhaps being trampled, or being mistaken for someone else.”
- - -
“Personally,” Ryan started, “I’m not sure I think that’s likely.”
“Of course you don’t, it’s a logical assumption.”
“Oh what, you don’t think, if we were in some crazed mob, I wouldn’t recognise you?” Ryan raised an eyebrow. “And I’d just accidentally kill you cause I was so caught up in the madness?”
“Okay one, you couldn’t kill me no matter how hard you tried.” Ryan made a sound to interrupt, but Shane continued before he could. “And two, hysteria does things to people man. You’re not thinking straight.”
“I just think that the leader of this raid, would be the most recognisable person out of everyone there. I imagine they’d have had him up on a little stage while they all crowded round for instructions before they set off. They’d all of had a pretty good look at the guy, and I’m sure he’d have just been a well-known guy at the time. The trampling, or self-defence I could kinda understand, but I can’t see how someone could’ve just like, grabbed him, and I don’t know, beat him to death or whatever.”
Shane just shrugged.
“Plus, again, he’s probably the most relevant person there.” Ryan added. “So, you’d like to think someone would have noticed his death and there’d be evidence of that.”
“It’s the 1600s, Ryan! What kind of evidence do you want? It’s not like they were running round taking photos or anything.”
“Well, there could be some sort of documentation of it. Newspaper article perhaps?” Ryan suggested.
“I don’t think many newspapers would’ve survived that long… Were newspapers even a thing at this point?”
“You know, honestly I don’t know.”
“And this is the 1600s, how many people were reading?”
“Hmm…” Ryan sighed. “Okay, you got me with that one.”
- - -
“The most commonly accepted theory is that C. Cullen simply ran away. As I said, it is widely believed that he was more hesitant about conducting these crusades in the first place, so is it possible that he used the attack as a cover to escape? Many believe so. Perhaps being in charge of the crusade in question granted him more protection in the event, and perhaps he wasn’t involved in the attack at all. He was simply waiting for news on whether it was successful or not. Is it possible that he hung back, and made his escape while the crowds fought without him? And that no one realised he was gone until afterwards. That being said, some have their doubts about this. Afterall, if C. Cullen was indeed so much more humane than his father, would he really cause an attack on other people, just for his own benefit? And would he be one to watch from the side-lines, while others risked their own life?”
- - -
“Okay…” Shane said.
“What?”
“I mean, obviously, I don’t believe for a second that there were actually vampires involved in any of this… But back in the day, people did quite truly believe that they were real. So, I can’t imagine it would have been difficult to get a crowd all riled up, and then send them off. Especially if the leader of it all also truly believed in the… in the cause, I guess. And I think, that if this guy did use the attack as a cover, and if he was as good of a person as everyone thinks, then he at least thought they were really vampires.”
“That’s fair.” Ryan agreed. “And if you think about it, bible verses were only found in his accounts. So that leads me to think that he at least had like, I dunno, God in mind or whatever.”
“It’s kinda strange to, like, imagine yourself living like that. If you’re taking the bible that seriously, and know it well enough to quote like that, it’s gonna be hard, cause it has a lot of contrasting points. I mean, I can’t say I’ve read the bible, but just from what I’ve seen online. It seems like it’s a bit all over the place!”
“Oh yeah, I agree. I mean, this quote again,” Ryan shuffled through his papers, “I will even set my face against that soul that eateth blood, and will cut him off from among his people’. I can understand that perhaps that could be interpreted to mean killing vampires is okay… But then in the same book you have ‘thou shall not kill’.”
“You know Ryan, I like it when we argee on this stuff.”
Ryan laughed. “Well, we’ll see what you’re saying after this last theory.”
Shane let out a loud sign.
- - -
“I’m sure you all can guess what this final theory is. But some people actually entertain the idea that C. Cullen was correct in his quest. And that he truly found a coven of vampires living underground in London. He was attacked, and transformed into a vampire himself, and he is still out there today.”
- - -
Shane let out a long and loud groan. Leaning back on his chair, and covering his eyes with his hands.
Ryan giggled. “What, you don’t like this one?”
“No.” Shane replied in pained voice.
“Well you’ll be glad to know, neither do I.”
“Oh really. I’d of thought this one was right up your street.”
“What? You seriously think I’d believe in vampires?”
Shane shook his head. “You are so genuinely terrified of ghosts, it’s really not so outlandish to think you’d believe in anything like this.”
“No, no. I’m gonna put vampires in the same category as I put witches. I think a lot of innocent people were unnecessarily killed. And in all honestly, I think Samuel Cullen here, knew what he was doing. I think it was a case of him wanting to maintain a reputation, and as with the second theory, his son just took off and left to live an honest life somewhere.” Ryan nodded.
“I dunno…”
Ryan exaggerated a gasp. “Do you think it was vampires?” He laughed.
Shane chuckled. “Absolutely not. But I mean, I’ll put the whole vampire thing down to mass hysteria, you know, like those people in France!”
Ryan rolled his eyes. “I was so desperately trying to avoid you bringing that up.” He muttered.
“They danced till they died Ryan!” He looked to the camera. “Look it up! Anyway… Mass hysteria, plus, like I think I said this about the witches, but, general boredom can cause a lot of crazy behaviour. But with this C. Cullen guy… he probably just died. It’s not like they were medically advanced. People would get some sort of disease and the local doctor would give them cocaine or some shit. And it’s just a case of crappy documentation.”
Ryan laughed. “You don’t think he managed to get away and just move somewhere else? Probably chance his name?”
“I mean, that’s a possibility.”
“I just… I think there’s something just not sitting well with me, that this guys own father, never seems to mention a death. And that he just seemed to vanish and no one noticed.”
“Well maybe he did mention it, it’s just part of the journal that was unreadable.”
“Maybe…” Ryan said, unsatisfied.
“I guess we’ll never know…”
Ryan sighed. “I hate it when you say that.”
“I know…” Shane nodded, chuckling slightly. “I’m not gonna lose any sleep over it. It was four hundred years ago, he’s defiantly dead now anyway.”
Ryan nodded and hummed. “Well on that note!” The two laughed. “Hey, do you think if a vampire died, that it could still become a ghost?”
“Okay…” Shane stood up and walked off camera.
“Where are you going?”
“Away from you!”
“It was just a question.”
Thanks for reading, and hope you enjoyed it. Please let me know what you think!

3 times when Valentine's day wasn't just about Valentine's day
Family fluff in three different fics.
I guess they can be viewed as fics from the same AU-verse
AO3
1.
“What's wrong with ya?” - asked Isaac as he saw his best mate sitting at the cricket pavilion looking all sad.
“Nothing.” - he snapped.
“Hey, I just wanted to help.” - told him Isaac before he sat down next to him, and just waited because he knew Seb, and sooner or later he always racked.
“It's me dad.” - he sighed.
“Which one?”
“Robert.” - he said glancing at Isaac.
“Yeah? What's with him?”
“That's the point. I don't know. Ever since he got back... back from....”
“Prison?” - said Isaac helping him out. Seb still had problems talking about those years, although he did have a happy childhood, and he was still very happy at 10 years old.
“Yeah.... he's just … I don't know.” - he shrugged – “Weird I guess.”
“Weird how?”
“I don't really know it's just a feeling. Plus it's like they're never really... you know.”
“No... I don't. What?” - asked Isaac clueless.
“I never saw them kiss or anything.”
“So?”
“It's Valentine's Day and they were acting like they were strangers.”
“Maybe they just didn't wanna snog their faces off with you standing there.” - laughed Isaac. - “Anyway, from what my dad told me they were never the touchy-feely type.”
“Yeah but they're at home, without people like Brenda to stir things up.”
“Okay, but Dotty screaming at her last week was pretty funny.” - he laughed. Seb joined him for a second but Isaac could see that his mate was more than distracted. - “Hey, why don't you talk to them?”
“Yeah and say what?”
“I don't know mate, they're your parents. Just if it bothers you that much...ask them if they have plans for tonight. It's Valentine's Day after all.” - he shrugged.
“Yeah, maybe I will.” - he said already thinking of a plan.
“Come on Robert this is ridiculous.” - said Aaron annoyed.
“But I just don't want him to feel... awkward.”
“You're his dad, you idiot. Why would he? It's not like we're doing anything.” - he said with his hands travelling up the sleeves of Robert's shirt. Ever since they were back together they could hardly keep their hands off each other, but when Seb was around Robert always made sure there was at least a few metres distance between him and Aaron because apparently, he was worried about how Seb would feel if they'd express their feelings a bit more in front of him.
“I know but... remember how long it took before he started to include me in stuff? I don't wanna lose that.”
“You won't. Come on Robert it's our first Valentine's Day... I wanna kiss ya.... without looking around checking if he's standing there.” - sighed Aaron.
“I'm sorry. I want that too... you know I do.”
“You're back home, Seb loves ya.... just... it's been so long since I get to celebrate this day.” - said Aaron and Robert never really thought about that his husband felt this strong about this stupid day. Maybe 8 years did that to him. Maybe he did that to him. He couldn't help feeling guilty. Before he could answer Seb came home, and Robert – as always – jumped a bit further from Aaron. Aaron just sighed closing his eyes for a moment before he greeted their son. - “Hi mate, did you have a good day at school?”
“Yeah, it was alright.” - he said hesitating for a second if he should ask them or not. - “Do you... erm... do you have plans tonight?”
“What, why? Do you?” - asked back Aaron looking confused.
“No, god no.” - he scoffed – “It's just... Valentine's and I thought...”
“Not really.” - jumped in Robert – “Just a film and some beers, right Aaron?”
“You heard him.” - he smiled at Seb although Robert knew it was a fake one.
“Okay, well I'll be in my room, shout me when dinner's ready.” - he said going upstairs, but he did stop at the top of the stairs. He wanted to know if he could catch a conversation.
“Sorry.” - said Robert, and Seb tried to listen, so he could hear everything. Why was his dad sorry? What did he do?
“I get it, Robert, well I mean I got it after you came back, but it's like 4 months now. We live together, you want that right?” - he asked him out of the blue.
“What? Course I want it. I told you I just..”.
“Worry about Seb, I know.” - said Aaron and for Seb this conversation just got interesting.
“You know …”
“Okay.” - interrupted Aaron. - “You said beers right? I'm gonna go and buy some... I need some fresh air anyway.”
“Aaron!” - called out Robert.
“I'll be back in a few, I just.... need to clear my head.” - he said with his jacket in his hand. As soon as the door slammed shut Seb “wandered” down the stairs, pretended to be thirsty.
“Where's dad?” - he asked.
“He.. erm... went out to buy some beers.”
“That's the best you can do?” - he asked his dad.
“You what?”
“Come on dad, you know what day is it right? I know dad is not... well … he's not the romantic type but... I know he would like at least a gesture.” - he said and Robert didn't even know what to say. His son got him by surprise.
“Sure.” - he said slowly, thinking why did Seb bring it up in the first place.
“Why don't you write him a card, wait a sec.” - he said running back up, so he could come back with a proper soppy valentine's day card. - “I popped into the shop on the way from school because I thought you might forget it. Well at first I wanted to give it to dad but... you obviously need help.” - he said and Robert was still gobsmacked.
“You...”
“You need to step up your game you know. And I don't mean a fancy meal in a posh restaurant, but you know... a bit more than just beers and a movie.”
“You wouldn't mind?”
“Why would I? You've been weird for ages....” - told him Seb, and Robert finally understood. Seb didn't give a toss about them showing affection, he cared about them not showing it. Aaron was right, overthinking the whole thing definitely didn't help. - “I know he hates candles but... these are desperate times.” - he said hinting. A few minutes later the table was set, and by the time everything was in its place Aaron came back. He got totally confused about the candles and the lights, but Seb just grinned at him telling that he's gonna have his dinner at the pub because Robert had a surprise. As he was ready to leave his parents alone he caught a little bit of their conversation.
“Sorry for being an idiot, you were right about him.” - sighed Robert. - “Happy Valentine's Day.” - as Seb turned around he saw his dads leaning in, and he knew that his mission was completed.
2.
“Daddy!” - called out Annie while she was coloring her book in the kitchen. She was a bit under the weather so Aaron stayed at home with her, while Robert handled work and everything else, included getting Jacob to nursery.
“What is it?” - he asked turning to his daughter. He started making dinner, but she distracted him every 2 minutes. As 4-year-olds do.
“We missed out on Valentine's Day!” - she said pouting. - “Miss Hampton said that we're gonna get a surprise, but now I won't.” - she added sadly. Aaron didn't know what to say at first, Valentine's Day wasn't a big thing for him and Robert. Well, not as big as for others. Back in the days, it was just another excuse to have an early night, but ever since the kids, they were glad if they could catch a few minutes after everybody went to sleep.
“Why only girls get to have a surprise?” - she asked. Ever since they were in nursery they picked up a lot of things, and sometimes it was hard to come up with an answer. - “Is it because the boys should give flowers, and you can't give flowers to a boy?” - said Annie.
“Of course you can.” - replied Aaron simply. He knew that their family was different from the rest, and he wanted to make sure that their kids knew that it doesn't always have to be like how it is in families with a mummy and a daddy.
“But daddy never brings you flowers.” - said Annie.
“I don't really like flowers.” - shrugged Aaron.
“Why?” - amongst other things, it was one of the twins favorite word. Aaron hated it with a passion.
“Erm... it's just how I am, but if he wanted to, he could... or I could.” - he said leaving the sentence hanging in the air.
“What is it? Did you forget something?” - she asked confused.
“You know actually, your dad really likes nice stuff.” - said Aaron thinking out loud, before he grabbed his phone calling his mum. He needed a babysitter ASAP.
“I'm home.” -said Robert as he got through the door with Jacob.
“In the kitchen.” - answered Aaron. He was already smirking because after talking to Annie he realized what Robert would want for Valentine's Day, despite the fact that they agreed to not get each other anything.
“Look he's got flowers!!!” - shouted Annie excited. - “Are they for daddy?” - she asked.
“No, these are for you, to get better.” - smiled Robert giving them to Annie.
“Really???” - she asked with a big smile on her face.
“Yeah, me and Jacob picked it, right Jacob?”
“Yeah, do you like it?” - he asked his sister.
“I love it. But what will Daddy have? You should've bring something for him!” - she said lecturing her dad.
“As a matter of fact...” - smirk Robert, as he pulled a box from his coat.
“What... we said no surprises.” - said Aaron, although he was ready to grab that box he put in the messy cupboard.
“I could say the same.” - laughed Robert when he realized that he wasn't the only one who ignored the rules.
“Alright, but it just popped into my head, and it's something that's actually useful.”
“Oh yeah same here.” - he grinned.
“What is it?” - asked Annie. She was obviously curious.
“Okay well... Happy Valentine's... or whatever.” - said Aaron a bit awkward, as he handed the bag over.
“Happy Valentine's.” - smiled Robert giving his box to Aaron. They opened it right away, and the surprise on both of their faces were priceless.
“Is this?”
“Is this?” - they asked after one another.
“It's your cologne.” - said Aaron confused. He got exactly the same for Robert.
“Yeah I know, you always use my stuff, I figured it's because you like it? So... I got a new one for you.” - he said and looked at Aaron just in time to see him blush. He did love Robert's cologne, but he didn't realize he was using it that frequently that Robert would notice. He thought wrong. - “Oi, don't be embarrassed, I love when you steal my stuff.” - he smirked as he winked at him.
“Is this romantic?” - asked Annie.
“For them? Sure it is.” - laughed Seb. Both Robert and Aaron jumped a bit at hearing his voice.
“How long have you been standing there?” - asked Aaron.
“Long enough to know that you two are hopeless when it comes to romance.”
“Oi, it is romantic.” - smiled Robert looking at Aaron.
“You should see your face.... both of you.” - laughed Seb – “As I said... hopeless.”
3.
“But do you have to go?” - pouted Abi as she stood in the middle of the room looking at her parents like they were about to abandon her.
“Sweetheart, they have to go and get your present, right?” - said Chas picking her up. - “Your birthday is in a couple of days. How old will you be?” - she asked but Abi just kept on looking at Aaron and Robert. They were standing at the door with bags in their hands, but they just couldn't leave their little girl like that.
“Come on answer Nana'a question.” - smiled Robert as he pinched her cheek. - “You'll be...”
“Three?” - she said although it was rather an ask really.
“That's right.” - said Robert smiling.
“We have to go... to get your present.” - said Aaron.
“But why?”
“Because you're gonna be a big girl, and it's not that simple to get that present.” - lied Robert. The truth was that they were dying for a little alone time, and it was Valentine's day and Chas offered to babysit while they go away for the night. The problem was they never really left Abi alone before. At least she didn't notice before, but now she was almost three, her birthday was in 3 days, and it was difficult to just leave the house without some tantrums.
“But you come back soon?” - she asked with teary eyes.
“Of course we will. By the time you wake up.” - said Aaron but Robert poked him shaking his head. To be fair all of their children woke up with the sunrise – they have no idea how that happened – so the chances of them being back at around 6-7 am were very slim. - “That is... if you have a proper sleep and won't wake up the whole house at the crack of dawn.” - he said tapping her nose.
“That long? That's forever!” - she said. Perhaps in her world, it was a bit long.
“We're gonna call ya before bedtime, right Robert?” - said Aaron turning to his husband.
“Of course we will. We wanna hear all your voices, so you have to make sure that your brother and sister will all be in one room. You can do that right?” - asked Robert. He knew that giving a task like this to her will probably distract her enough to not spend the afternoon crying.
“Yeah.” - she nodded finally.
“That's my girl.” - smiled Aaron. - “Alright we really need to go, otherwise someone might take your present.”
“Oh no!” - gasped Abi. Chas just laughed at the scene, her granddaughter was adorable when she wanted to be.
“So can we go now?” - asked Robert. Abi just nodded. - “Alright give me a hug first.” - said Robert dropping his bag. - “You too guys.” - he shouted in the direction of the twins. Obviously, they came running.
Five minutes later they were on their way, giggling about how cute their youngest was.
“Do you think we can swing it next year as well?” - asked Aaron.
“Well... she's only gonna be four... I think we're safe next year as well.” - he laughed. The twins were in school, and they kinda knew that their dads needed some “special time alone” and thankfully they didn't mind, but Abi was still little, and she always needed attention. It was hard to get a few moments alone. Their attempts at even cuddling most of the times got interrupted by Abi running into their room, jumping on their bed, and just craving all the attention. Any kind of intimacy was out of the picture. It was the same with the twins, but they weren't as demanding. That's why it was a salvation really when Chas offered to look after them. The original plan was to ask Seb, but he got invited to a camping trip with his mates from uni so, Chas was plan B.
“Is it wrong that I was itching to leave?” - asked Aaron biting his lips.
“No.” - scoffed Robert – “Just because we wanna be together, it doesn't mean we don't love our kids. It's just... it's been a while.”
“God, you're telling me?” - laughed Aaron. - “I don't even know the last time....”
“Okay, it wasn't that long... I mean last week in the shower...”
“Yeah, when Jacob almost walked in?” - laughed Aaron.
“Yeah, but the door was closed.”
“Because I told you to lock it.”
“Alright alright, Mr perfect.” - smirked Robert. - “Did I tell you they have a jacuzzi in the room? It's proper posh.”
“I don't really care I just want a bed... and you.” - said Aaron blushing.
“Speaking about beds...I should warn you, there definitely will be rose petals on it.”
“Oh Robert...” - sighed Aaron – “Really?” - he asked half annoyed.
“It's Valentine's Day Aaron. I couldn't just say, thanks but don't bother me husband is a big grump.”
“Fine.” - he said sulking. - “But no champagne.”
“You kidding? You love champagne. Remember our honeymoon? And our third wedding? And our second honeym...”
“Alright shut up. We can have a glass.” - he murmured.
“What was it? I didn't quite catch that.” - smirked Robert obviously teasing him.
“I said it's fine, we can have a glass..... if you want it that much.” - he said, trying to make it like he was doing a favor for Robert.
“Thanks. I make it up to you... somehow.” - he grinned.
“You better.”

Imagine about being Reece's sister and u have a family dinner where George and Blake come too and George has his eyes all over u whenever he sees u. Reece notices it so he plays on tv a random movie, he let's u sit next to each other and during the movie, Reece sends George a text saying "if u don't kiss her now, ur loss". George asks u to help him in the kitchen with some drinks, but instead, he kisses u (a lot maybe)
“Lexi’s gonna show us her little boyfriend when we go visit her next week at her horse riding camp.” Your mum grinned.
“Y/n when are you gonna get a boyfriend?” Your dad joked. “You’re eighteen, love. You need to get out a bit more.”
“Dad stop.” You whined. “I do like someone but it’s never gonna work.”
“Why wouldn’t it work?” Your mum asked.
“Because... he doesn’t like me.”
“How do you know? Have you asked him?” Your dad asked. “You have to shoot your shot, y/n.”
“No. I just... I’m not...”
“Who is it? Do we know him?” Your mum asked.
“...George...” you hesitated.
“George?! You like George?!” Reece gasped from the doorway.
“Reece! Go away!” You were mortified.
_____
The next night, Reece invited Blake and George over for dinner with your family. You didn’t dare look at George. Little did you know, George had liked you for a while. He couldn’t take his eyes off of you. After dinner, Blake wanted to watch a film. Your parents decided to call it a night and go to sleep early.
“Y/n and George you can sit over there on the smaller sofa.” Reece pushed you.
“Why-“
“Blake and I wanted to be next to the window.” He shrugged. George cautiously sat next to you. During the movie you kept feeling his eyes on you. His body was stiff as your legs and shoulders were touching from sitting on the smaller sofa.
All of a sudden, George’s phone pinged with a notification.
Bibster: if you don’t kiss her now, it’s your loss mate
George looked at Reece with wide eyes. Reece raised an eyebrow before typing again.
Bibster: she really likes u. Just go for it now while you have the chance
George: help me idk how to
“George and y/n since you’re closer can you go get us drinks?” Reece asked. “Please!”
“Erm... y/n could you help me for a second?” George whispered to you. You nodded, confused before following him to the kitchen.
“So what kind of drinks do-“ he cut you off by pressing his lips to yours. Your eyes shot open in surprise before you kissed back. “W-What?” You muttered after you broke apart.
“I... I really like you and Reece said you like me to and I just thought maybe we could go out sometime...” he said nervously. You nodded.
“Y-Yeah. Let’s get the drinks and-“
He grabbed your hand. “He doesn’t want drinks. I just didn’t know how to get you in here with me.” He chuckled. “It’s stupid I know.”
“No. It’s okay.” You grinned. “Come on let’s go back.” You walked back into the lounge. You sat back in your spots and he draped an arm over your shoulders.
“Did you do it?” Reece asked eagerly. George nodded.
“What?” Blake asked, confused.
“They kissed.” Reece said.
“What?!” Blake exclaimed. “Finally!”
“So you guys knew he liked me and didn’t tell me?” You frowned.
“Sorry y/n.” Blake shrugged.
“It’s fine.” George kissed the top of your head. “We know now.”

almost [two] // carol danvers
summary: Carol and you are enjoying your blossoming relationship, but things come to a halt when she doesn't come back from a test jet ride.
warning/s: mentions of death and panic attacks.
one | three | masterlist
Tumblr media
Carol and I were keeping our relationship on the down low as we tried to discover how things would work. Obviously we wouldn't act so publicly with it because the guys would just be pervy about everything and it wasn't there business. Maria was somebody we were looking to tell when we were ready, and we agreed that we obviously would tell her eventually
The three of us were currently at the bar after work, playing some pool and socialising. It was a nice break from the stresses of the Air Force, where Dr. Lawson was particularly bossy lately.
"Your go, Y/L/N," Maria nodded, smiling at me challengingly. "Good luck not potting the cue ball."
I sighed and concentrated on the shot I had to take. As I began to chew my lower lip, Maria must have noticed my struggle as she groaned.
"Okay, Carol, you get to help her whilst I go get another drink," she reasoned, before pointing in my direction. "I'll let you have this one since you basically lose every game we have."
I raised my eyebrow and scoffed with offence. Maria merely laughed as she headed to the bar to order her drink. Carol stared at me with a suppressed smile.
"You think I'm bad, too?" I asked, frowning like a child who had just been scolded.
Carol was trying very hard not to laugh at my expense as she shrugged her shoulders. "I'm not saying a thing. But c'mon. I'll give you a hand."
She rounded the table and put her arms around me quite abruptly, making me send her a questioning glance because we were in public. She simply smiled innocently and put her hands on mine as I grabbed the cue. I decided to go along with it, rather enjoying her closeness, and bent down, lining up my cue with the ball.
"Just pull back here and apply little pressure," she explained, very closely to my ear and sending shivers down my spine at the sound, "otherwise you'll get the cue ball in and lose."
I did as she said, allowing her to guide me at the same time, and hit the ball. I managed to pocket the striped ball without pocketing the cue ball, causing me to grin as I looked over my shoulder to see Carol smiling proudly at me. Her eyes managed to sparkle under the badly-lit lights of the bar and I felt my stomach doing backflips at the sight.
"You guys gonna kiss now or what?" a gruff voice commented with a chuckle, making me sigh quietly and roll my eyes.
I turned my head as Carol and I stood up straight, her hand still resting on my waist. It was one of the Air Force guys taking the piss, wearing a cocky grin on his lips. Jack, I think his name was.
I was ready to ignore him and signal for Carol to stand back a bit, but when I looked at her, she was smirking at the guy, before looking to me and giving me a quick, barely noticeable kiss on the lips. I stood there, looking at her with wide eyes, surprised she would do such a thing in a public place, but when I looked back to the guy, his jaw was dropped with disbelief.
He turned around to get his friends' attention, but at this point, Carol took a large step away from me and pretended to be focusing on the pool table.
"They kissed, dude, you missed it!" he was bragging, still slightly shocked. His friends obviously didn't believe him as they all looked between Carol and I.
Carol was grinning now as she said, "Wow, Jack. Are you really not getting enough lately that you have to imagine two girls kissing in front of you?"
Jack seemed pissed as his friends snorted, almost spitting out their drinks. Jack tried to convince them that what he saw was true, but now he was just the laughing stock of his friends. Meanwhile, I looked back to carol with a surprised smile, to which she winked at me as if to say 'our little secret'.
This whole relationship was indeed 'our little secret', and I loved it. There were no stresses or tension with having to deal with the fact that everybody knew about us, because nobody did. I could just focus on being happy with Carol.
It was about a month into the relationship when we decided to tell Maria. She took it well, not that we expected her not to, and was happy that we were happy. She also respected our decision to keep it private business which worked out well.
I remember going to her house to see her, Carol and Monica. It wasn't a foreign thing for me to turn up there sometimes – they were both my best friends way before Carol and I were girlfriends. So turning up to hang with them was nice, especially on the weekends when Monica would be there. That girl was a joy to be around and Carol and I were practically her aunties.
I was visiting and the four us were playing Jenga in the living-room. It was Monica's turn and she studied the wooden blocks carefully, making us all watch her with adoration.
"If I don't knock down the blocks, can you sleepover tonight?" she asked, before looking up to meet my eyes.
I chuckled. "I don't know, Mon. It's not up to me, is it?"
She licked her lips and looked up to her mum with her big brown eyes. "She can stay, right? I mean, can't she stay in Aunt Carol's room?"
I widened my eyes when she said this, as did Maria, who was smiling with surprise. Poor Carol was drinking some water and almost did a spit-take as she looked to Monica.
"Why... why would I do that, darling?" I asked her, keeping a smile on my lips.
Monica looked to me and seemed confused. "You and Aunt Carol are together, aren't you?"
I was taken aback at how calm and reasonable she sounded, and confused to how she knew. I exchanged puzzled expressions with Carol, who seemed just as clueless as I was.
"Who told you that, Monica?" Maria asked, an amused expression on her face.
Monica shrugged as she pulled a Jenga block from the tower. "Nobody. But they seem closer, so I just thought." She looked to me and said, "Will you sleepover, Aunt Y/N? I didn't knock down the blocks."
I chewed my lower lip to suppress my smile. "Erm, it's not really... er..." I glanced up at Maria with a questioning gaze.
"It's your call," she answered with a shrug.
I glanced at Carol, who was watching me with a humoured expression.
"It's fine by me, Y/N," she said, squeezing my hand comfortingly.
I nodded and looked back to a hopeful Monica. "Looks like I'm sleeping over."
Monica grinned and fist-pumped. "Yesssss. We can have a movie night like last time."
I chuckled at her excitement and pulled her in for a side hug. "Of course we can."
Monica ended up tiring out halfway through the second film that evening, so Maria tucked her in before settling in for the night herself. Carol and I decided to call it a night too and headed up to her room.
"Monica is one perceptive kid," Carol commented with a laugh as we were pulling back the blankets to jump in bed. "Were we that obvious?"
I rolled my eyes playfully, before sliding in beside her and cuddling into her side. "It probably didn't help that you held my hand through that whole Jenga game. And the last movie night we had."
Carol laughed again, wrapping an arm around me cosily. "At least we don't have to explain to her. She's clever. Open. It's good."
I smiled. "Yeah. It does feel good to know she knows now." I thought for a moment before sitting up slightly and turning around to look at Carol, who was looking up at me with a confused smile.
"What is it?" she asked.
I shook my head, smiling softly. "Nothing. I just..." I knew what I wanted to say. But I wasn't sure if now was the right time. I didn't want to make things weird, but she just looked stunning and I couldn't help but think about how wonderful this past month and a half had been with her.
"You just...?" she pressed, obviously curious.
I decided against it. I didn't want to ruin anything we had.
"Nothing," I assured her, before kissing her gently, slowly, passionately. I pulled away and lay back down in her arms, to which she wrapped one around me protectively.
It was silent for a moment. I presumed she was trying to sleep. But then she spoke up.
"I love you, too," she said, quietly, as if afraid to say it like I was.
I couldn't help but grin to myself in the dark when I realised she felt the same. Worried I would say something stupid to embarrass myself or ruin the moment, I just squeezed her hand gently to let her know I had heard. And closed my eyes to try and fall asleep.
"Are you sure you don't want me to wait up? I don't mind," I said, giving Carol a knowing look.
She shook her head, smiling toothlessly at me. "It's okay. You go back to Maria's and after this test flight is over, I'll meet you back there and tell you how it goes."
I nodded, pulling her closer by our intertwined hands. We were alone at the moment, so there was no fear of being caught. "Good luck," I said softly, pressing my lips against hers.
When I pulled away, she was grinning adorably at me and I couldn't help but laugh. I ended up walking her to the jet outside, where Dr. Lawson was already waiting.
"Be careful," I told Carol as she was putting her helmet on. "Be vigilant. I want you coming back in one piece."
"It's one test flight," she teased with a smile. "And you helped Dr. Lawson with the mechanics on this thing, so if anything goes wrong, it's kinda your fault."
I glared at her playfully. "Don't even joke about that."
Dr. Lawson smiled between us. "Everything should go according to plan, ladies. Now, Danvers, shall we go?"
I stood back as I watched them both get in the jet confidently. Carol waved at me before starting the engine. I trusted things would go fine. They'd done test flights billions of times. What would be so different now?
I headed to Maria's after I watched the jet take flight. It was supposed to be a peaceful afternoon. We were supposed to wait for Carol to come back and talk about how everything went over a barbecue Maria, Monica and I were setting up. But plans changed when we got a knock on the front door.
Maria was the one who answered, as I was in the kitchen with Monica, prepping the food for the barbecue. She'd been at the door for a minute, and even after I called for her, she didn't reply, so I sent Monica to check on her.
"Aunt Y/N, mom is... I don't know what's wrong...," Monica said breathlessly as she ran into the kitchen. As soon as I saw her face scrunched up, about to cry because of her confusion, I washed my hands and raced to the front door with Monica.
I felt my heart clench as I saw one of our superiors at the door, his head hung in shame. Maria was crying into her hands and I dreaded what was to be told.
"Darling, why don't you go up to your room whilst I see what's wrong?" I said, kneeling down to Monica's level.
Her lips were trembling as she kept her eyes on her crying mother over my shoulder. "W-what about mom?"
"I'll come up to you in two minutes, I swear," I promised her, kissing her on the forehead.
Thankfully, she ran upstairs without question and I immediately went to Maria, who looked at me with tears running down her cheeks.
"What is it?" I asked, a lump forming in my throat.
Maria shook her head with refusal. "She's gone. They both are."
"What? What do you mean?" I asked, holding her because she was shaking now. I looked up to my superior questioningly. "What is it? What has happened?"
He frowned as he looked at me sympathetically. "Dr. Lawson and Carol Danvers were on a test flight. Their jet crashed and they both died on impact. I'm so sorry, Y/L/N."
I remembered staring at him, but more so through him, as his words sank into my brain. They were both gone. Carol was gone. But that couldn't be. I had only seen her a few hours earlier. We were going to have a barbecue. She was going to tell us all about it.
Maria was shaking as she sobbed and that's when I knew I had to face reality. My lip trembled as tears of my own poured out, but I stayed standing there for a moment, holding Maria tightly, as she held me. We had both lost a friend and a mentor. I had lost the love of my life. And I would have to go upstairs in a moment and tell Monica she had lost her auntie.
---
6 years later.
I knocked on Maria's front door and waited patiently for a response. Eventually, to my surprise, her mother answered.
"Y/N, this is a nice surprise," she said kindly with a smile.
"I could say the same, Mrs. Rambeau," I replied with a chuckle. "I didn't know you were visiting."
She waved her hand dismissively. "It was a last minute thing. Maria is out of town and told us to babysit whilst she was gone."
I was taken aback. "Oh? Where did she go? And she knows she could have just asked me, right? She didn't need to drag you guys out like this. I've babysat Monica before."
Mrs. Rambeau shrugged. "Beats me. She said it was something for work. She should be back tomorrow though, don't worry. Is there anything I can help you with?"
I was still curious as to where Maria went. I knew her work and I knew she would never get up and leave for two days without telling me about it. And if she did, she would definitely ask me to babysit Monica, not her parents. I was closer and she hated bothering them like that. Something didn't add up.
"I just came by to drop off Maria's car keys. I finished fixing her brakes because she was having trouble with it herself," I said, pushing my curious thoughts away for now. "I guess I'll just give them to you and you can give her them when she gets back."
Mrs. Rambeau nodded and accepted the car keys from me. "Do you want to come in? Have something to eat? I've got leftovers."
I resisted the urge to laugh. "You know I could never turn down your food, Mrs. Rambeau, but I've gotta get back to the garage. Duty calls."
She chuckled and nodded. "I see. Well how about you wait here and I'll come back with a little something special for you to take for the journey?"
I couldn't not laugh at this point, as she walked back inside. "It's a ten minute car ride!" I called back with amusement, though I knew she would still return with food. That woman was too kind for her own good.
"Aunt Y/N!" a familiar little voice called for me, and before I knew it, I was being hugged at the waist by Monica.
I smiled and hugged her back. "How are you, darling?"
She kept ahold of my hand as she beamed up at me with her adorable smile. "Awesome. How about you?"
I pretended to be hurt. "I'm not gonna lie, Mon. I'm a bit offended that you didn't ask for me to babysit you whilst your mum is out of town. I thought I was your favourite."
She rolled her eyes sassily, before nudging me slightly. "You still are, silly. I just... I missed grandma and grandpa."
I eyed her suspiciously and she merely smiled up at me innocently. I shook my head with defeat before saying, "Nice save. You know I'll find out what's up when your mum gets back, right?"
She grinned. "I know."
I continued eyeing her suspiciously as Mrs. Rambeau returned with a box of leftovers.
"There's some mashed potatoes, green beans and a roast in here, Y/N, your favourite," she said, handing me the box.
I accepted it graciously, chuckling. "Wow. That's enough to feed a very small village."
"Don't lie, you would totally eat that in one go," Monica said with a cheeky smile.
I stuck my tongue out at her before looking back to Mrs. Rambeau. "Thank you. I really appreciate it."
She nodded humbly before looking to Monica. "Come on, Monica, time to let Y/N go. She's got work to do."
"Can I come?" Monica asked excitedly, her eyes suddenly lighting up. She looked to me. "Please?"
"Now, Monica. Y/N has serious work to be done. She can't babysit you at the same time," Mrs. Rambeau chastised her granddaughter.
I shrugged my shoulders. "I don't really mind. It would be nice to have the company." Monica grinned, so I pointed a finger at her and sternly added, "but you have to listen to me and not go looking for trouble. A garage isn't a place for children to play in."
"I'll be on my best behaviour," she promised, saluting playfully.
I chuckled and outstretched my arm, to which she hugged my side. I looked back to Mrs. Rambeau and said, "I'll have her back by dinner?"
Mrs. Rambeau nodded before looking to Monica. "Be good, sweetie."
Monica nodded enthusiastically before running to my car. I laughed and bid Mrs. Rambeau a goodbye before joining Monica. Back at my garage, I was working on someone's car, replacing the exhaust pipe. It wasn't difficult, so I let Monica help.
"Hand me the spanner?" I asked, holding my hand out.
Monica placed something in my hand and when I pulled it back, I suppressed a smile. Stretching my hand out again, I said, "Other spanner, darling."
She replaced the tool in my hand and this time, handed the correct one, making me shake my head with amusement. As I replaced some bolts, Monica spoke up after a moment of silence.
"I have a feeling you're going to be really happy soon," she said, and when I looked to her, she was grinning.
I gave her a knowing look. "I already am. I've got you here."
She sighed dramatically, making me laugh. "Nooo, I mean really happy. Just wait."
I rolled my eyes playfully before getting back to work. Kids.
When I dropped Monica back home, I made sure for her to pass on the message to Maria to tell her to drop by my garage when she was back. Which is exactly what she did the next day.
I was working on an engine when I heard footsteps coming from the open garage door. I glanced over my shoulder and saw Maria approaching me.
"There you are, little Miss secret-keeper," I joked, giving her my full attention, a smile on my face. "Where have you been?"
She gave me a small smile which confused me a little. "It's a long story, but trust me, you need to know the whole thing."
I sensed an air of seriousness to her words, so I stood up straight and lost my smile. "Is everything okay, Maria? You seem nervous."
She pursed her lips and glanced down at her feet. "I'm fine. I just– can we sit down? This is a lot to take in at once. Especially for you."
I chuckled nervously. "What do you mean? What's happened?"
She blinked as she tried to gather her thoughts, but a figure in my peripheral distracted me and I ended up looking past Maria to see who else had walked into my garage. I almost choked on air when I saw who I never thought I'd see again.
I shook my head slowly, trying to find words. I was looking directly at Carol Danvers, the woman who died six years ago.
"M-Maria," I whispered, my mouth suddenly dry. "It's-it's happening again."
I felt my throat closing up with each second that passed. She was walking closer, her eyes meeting mine. I thought I was fixed. I thought I wouldn't see her anymore.
"Y/N? Y/N!" Maria was holding me now, concern on her face.
I forgot how to breathe for a moment. I felt like my lungs were blocked and suddenly felt like like my tongue was sandpaper in my mouth.
"I told you to wait outside! Go! Now!" Maria yelled behind her which made me widen my eyes.
I wanted to ask her if she could see her, too. If that was real, though the logical side of my brain knew it couldn't be. I wanted to scream at how rigid I felt, but I couldn't do anything but try and copy Maria's breathing.
It took a few minutes, but I soon found myself sat on the ground, leaning against the car I was working on. Maria was kneeling in front of me, holding my hands, breathing in time with me.
"I thought that I was okay again," I finally got out, my eyes welling up as I looked to Maria. "I thought... Maria..."
"You didn't imagine her," she suddenly said, keeping her grip on my hand. "That's what I wanted to tell you. You are okay, Y/N."
I swallowed the lump in my throat. "W-what?"
Maria sat down before me, crossing her legs and keeping ahold of my hands. "Hear me out. And if you want me to stop, I will. But remember I'm here and you're okay."
I nodded slowly.
Maria spent the next five minutes explaining to me about why she wasn't here the past two days.  And that included Carol Danvers not actually dying in the jet crash. Firstly, the jet didn't crash, it was shot down by aliens. And Carol absorbed an energy that Dr. Lawson, who was also an alien this whole time, had built in her jet. These aliens – the Kree – had taken Carol in six years ago and led her to believe she was one of them, but when she came back to Earth, she learnt the truth. She is now part alien and has powers.
It was way too much to take in at once. I felt so hollow inside. I grieved over Carol. I had to adjust to life without her. I had panic attacks every time I couldn't accept the thought of losing her. I saw her everywhere. I thought I was going insane. And now? Now she was back?
"She knows who you are," Maria finished carefully, aware of how fragile I was. "She remembers most things. But it's still new to her. I brought her here because she asked me to."
I breathed out slowly and met Maria's eyes. "She's... she's actually back?"
A relieved smile crept on her lips as she nodded. "She is. She's back."
I smiled gratefully, feeling tears of relief roll down my cheeks, as I fell into Maria's embrace. The two of us had spent these past six years trying to live a life without her. We only had each other, and we had to be strong for Monica, but now Carol was actually back.
"Wait, Mon knew before me?" I asked after pulling away from Maria.
"Yeah," Maria answered. "To be fair, Carol kinda showed up out of nowhere and Monica happened to be there."
I bit my lip as I realised what Monica meant about being happier. She was happy herself, because she had seen her Auntie Carol after so long.
"Err, Maria, can we come in now?" a man's voice called from outside.
I looked to Maria with confusion.
"That's Fury," she clarified, and I nodded, recognising his name from the story she told me. "Are they okay to come in? Or do you still feel... y'know?"
I sucked up a deep breath and stood up. Maria joined me and waited patiently for my response. I nodded.
"Come on in, guys," Maria called back to Fury, all whilst keeping an eye on me still.
I prepared myself as I saw two figures enter my garage. One was Fury, an agent with one eye, as Maria described. And the other was Carol. I still couldn't believe it, but the closer she got, the more I realised how it was really her. Not a thing had changed. Her hair was a little longer maybe, but she was still the same. Or was she?
"I'm sorry for startling you," she spoke apologetically, and it took a moment for me to realise she was talking to me. My heart was beating exceptionally fast and I was afraid the others could hear it. I hadn't heard her voice in so long...
I didn't know what to say at first. I just stared with disbelief. God, she was really here. I had missed her so goddamn much. The amount of times I wanted to hold her, be with her, feel her warmth. And now here she was.
"Y/N, are you okay?" Maria asked, resting her hand on my forearm.
I looked to her and saw the concern in her eyes. I nodded, hoping to reassure her. It worked as she let go and waited patiently.
"You're really here," I finally spoke, looking back to Carol. "Like, really here."
Carol offered a small smile and I felt a tug in my stomach like I did eight years ago when we first met. "Yeah."
I breathed out slowly, nodding. "Can I hug you?"
She seemed surprised. "I didn't want to pressure you, but if you would like to, then of cou–"
I cut her off by stepping forward and wrapping my arms around her shoulders. As soon as I made contact, I felt like a weight had been lifted off my shoulders and I could suddenly breathe again. She was really here.
I felt her hands wrap around my waist and for a moment, it was like old times.
"I missed you so much," I whispered, sniffling.
She rubbed reassuring circles on my back. "I'm sorry, Y/N."
I revelled in her embrace before pulling away and shaking my head. "It's not your fault. I'm just, I'm glad you're back."
She smiled toothlessly. "Me, too."
