needed an art dump for all my (admittedly not very good) sketches for souichi from my saiki k/junji ito crossover so heres his house layout

and no it's not harsh black on white its ao3 dark mode colors (very pleasing to the eye) so u don't need to worry abt eyestrain

i dont actually know if they would have a wall around their house, but i assume they would bc that seems like a staple in Japanese properties regardless of price. their yard is smaller than pictured, i just didn't wanna obscure it too much.

the house looks bad but it gives u a good idea of what it looks like so

in case u cant read my writing bc of the stabilizer, next to the tv in the 1st floor is the shrine. next to the stairs is the washer and dryer and then the bathroom.

the 2nd floor notes explain that the hallway is covered in various framed pictures of the tsujii family with a significant jump from right before fuchi's attack to after. (ill probably go more into depth if souichi ever brings anyone over, but souichi is normally smirking or obviously annoyed in most pics pre-fuchi, but just looks miserable or actually in pain in any after)

the attic. i havent decided whats up there, but ive decided that the door is locked and souichi stole the key. i might have mentioned that the house didn't have an attic, and i like that idea, so i think the attic's totally unuseable due to the insulation and stuff. souichi probably would have cleaned it up if he wasn't injured, but yk.

the downstairs is def inspired by the anime "inuyashiki" it's so heartwrenching i watched it twice and cried both times. highly recommend. it's basically if light yagami got turned into a robot alongside an old man and it's only 10 or 11 episodes but GOD im gonna make more references to it at some point.

souichi's bedroom

souichi’s the standing thingy while the other thingy standing against his wardrobe is that weird statue thingy he has which ive decided it a halloween prop he got and decided it was a hone onna he captured and sealed

for reference, souichi's about 5"4, but his hunch (which is probably more dramatic than shown) makes him seem a lot shorter. canonically, he's like 4"9-11 but everyone thought he was 5"4 so i figured i'd make him 5"4.

theres stuff in the bookshelf i just didnt feel like putting anything in there. the emptiness on top of the shelves and the actual shelf is intentional bc souichi cant comfortably reach them!! he also doesn't have that cloth over his light bc once again he can't reach it. that's also why his hone onna is propped between the dresser and the wardrobe rather than hanging, bc he couldn't put it up and no one helped him

i also hope that the proportions are right. souichi wouldn't be able to reach a top shelf within the wardrobe and i think he's a bit too tall in the second pic but u know what i mean

the thingy with the wheels by the door is actually a thingy i have irl! its got three levels of tiny shelves with abt 3 inch walls. i use it to store my sewing stuff and any fabric or yarn i need for current projects. its also a lot taller. (sorry that its blurry and the lines are thicker than the other stuff i had to resize and didn't feel like redrawing)

his wardrobe's got clothes in it, but i think his bookshelf would probably have a few books and then his dolls everywhere else. his kokkuri geisha is top-shelf and constantly berates him when he talks to it about giving it a proper place to sit. souichi can't move her tho bc her box is so heavy and no one wants to touch it anymore. (it was put there temporarily and misako and shuji kept putting off putting her elsewhere)

if anyone wants a closeup of any room just ask!! ive got heights for all the characters planned and i might sketch out some of the pictures on the walls

I just got back from a very fun day in the city with my bf and one of my best friends we went to see Persona (the second time for me and i finally fully understood the movie.had to explain it to these losers. Ha!) also im gonna make zucchini and carrot fritters for dinner even tho its very late heheh. My summer is going pretty well!!!!ive been reading a good amount but i havent seen as many movies as i would like so id love some recommendations and feel free to be as smart as you want about them!!these days i love being out at 8-9 in the afternoon because its perfect for hanging out without it being super hot and its late but the sun might not be down yet 😍 and u can grab some icecream ..so many options.. what do u think? crochet wise i havent had that much time so my autumn scarf remains a work in progress but she will be sooooo beautiful (have i mentioned i dont have a single finished project)

okay so a large part of me starting this blog is that i am v inspired to share my work and plans the same way a lot of knitting youtubers and knitting podcasters do so here is my humble attempt of doing it in textpost format.... this will probs be a long post so under the cut we go !

first off i wanna start off with my fall moodboard (this idea is heavily inspired by emily from high fiber knits on yt much love to her) that i just made on canva lol

i think if i were to give this one a name it would be medieval scholar autumn lol. medieval not in the riches and jewels and such way but in the cobblestones and horse drawn carriages and those white and cream buildings with dark brown wood beams all across them if you know what i mean. it's crisp weather and chilly nights and county fairs and clear blue skies and just a very vibrant autumn. the more scholarly side of it to me is hot milk tea and browns and creams and not necessarily dark academia (bc i think that has become too oversaturated and now everything qualifies as some sort of academia esque thing and i've decided that FOR ME its cringe and i dont care.) but like books and reading and stufying and studying groups because well i neeed to romanticize school because i have to do it now. now that i am taking a class and also working i really need to keep the motivation up and like. this will help bc i love pretty pictures. another thing i was heavily inspired by was this package of milk tea flavored kitkats that had a nice red and green tartan pattern on it now i don't like red and green together it always reads christmas to me but the pattern combined with the tea really spoke to me. tbh i don't know how often i would really go for this much orange i had a very specific vision in mind when making this moodboard but i feel like the aesthetic isn't fully captured, and that's okay ! i'm trying to learn and really internalize that moments are not things to have and own, and certain feelings and blips of time and that perfect slant of light, or scent of something sweet on a cool breeze, or sky just the right shade, cannot and should not be kept forever. they are there to exist and be experienced, and if they are forgotten later that's okay. it doesn't have to be owned to have mattered. all this to say that maybe the vibes aren't exactly right and i won't wear all of these on the perfect day for the perfect vibe because that doesn't exist outside of pinterest lol. on we move.

before the patterns, a disclaimer: i will not make all of these patterns, i know this. i might not even make or finish any of these patterns lmao i have work and school and while that doesn't take up all of my time, i am still a very beginner knitter (still haven't finished my first garment lol) and do not have the skills or the money or the time to invest in all of these patterns no matter how much i want to. i have other hobbies too ! and that's fine ! honestly a lot of the reason i am making this post is because i 1 love explaining my thought processes 2 i love planning stuff and 3 mmmm categorization. big fan of ravelry bundles its my jam. honestly im not even 100% tied to the idea that aesthetics and trends and seasons (in the fashion and style sense, not the natural phenomenon) are even a good thing or something that aligns with my morals and values. i just like pretty pictures and matching things around and stuff.

okay pattern 1 and the most likely one i am to cast on is the tonight top by lily kate france! i would use malabrigo sock in the colorway ivy, as i got this yarn as a gift from my friend when she was in paris <3 not much to say about this pattern in regards to what i would do with it, i just think it would be a nice way to learn some new skills and show off the beautiful green earthy yarn. and even tho it's not bright orange lol.

pattern 2 and now we're going in no particular order is the winter's pullover by ozetta. again really nothing special about this one but i do think a hand knit cozy sweater is a goal of mine just as a knitter and this one fits the bill! can never go wrong with a thick cozy sweater in fall

pattern 3 is the honeycomb cardigan by sedna yang which again, cozy cabled cardigan can't go wrong with that. do i think i will be knitting this any time soon? absolutely not. but i do think it fits the vibe very well even tho i will not be able to purchase yarn for it lol that is too expensive for me rn

pattern 4 is the romy sweater by sandnes design and tbh i'm not sold on this one. mostly picked it for the colorwork being reminiscent of the afformentioned medieval buildings with the dark wooden beams across the outside but. well i'm not sold. it does fit in as a cozy oversized sweater but idk if it's different enough from the others to really get me to wanna make it.

pattern 5 is the cadogan sweater by lily kate france and omg i do really love this design. like overall i just feel like it fits in with the vibe really well and is still modern and fun and new and feels like something i would by at a retail store so . !

pattern 6 is these tartan mitts by carolyn kern, although i wouldn't knit the mitts themselves, just use the tartan pattern and transfer them onto some different patterns, namely : the sirius skirt by charissa (which originally has a houndstooth pattern that also fits in but i have a vision in mind) as well as a sort of cape/capelet pattern as a little matching set thing. i have 2 patterns in mind for this, the butterfly cape by sj kim and the beauxbatons academy of magic capelet by dana williams-johnson. on the butterfly cape first, i love the sleeves and how they look in the photos on ravelry, but all of them include a belt and i really don't have any belts and am not a belt wearer so i'm not sure how this would really fit into my wardrobe and how often i would wear it. it looks beautiful but i'm not sure how much i would reach for it.... it also seems like the sleeves are connected to the lower body, giving it that butterfly wing shape, but that would limit movement and well. one of my goals in life and in my style is to never wear pieces that limit movement and make me more aware of how i can and can't move my body and draw my attention to how i'm moving around in life so like. there is that. now, the beauxbatons capelet is more of what i'm looking for and it looks easier to slap a pattern on there and not have too much trouble... however it is from the official harry potter knitting book which i do not support in any way shape or form. i have absolutely no qualms about pirating the book itself and taking the pattern from there, but the idea that it's connected to jkr puts me off of it a little bit. either way both of them look like they make beautiful finished objects, i just have to decide which one to make lol (if i make any at all. out of this tartan pattern mini collection i would probs make the skirt first and go from there)

pattern 10 is the agave by tricot design mcl and what drew me to this was the drawstring detail at the front. i don't think i would necessarly knit the full garment but maybe adding the detail to something like the milly skirt by sandnes garn at the bottom hem as like a little nod to the more medieval side of my plans and aesthetic.

okay finally pattern 12 is the penny gloves by petiteknit. a classic. cute. practical as gloves for when my steering wheel in my car gets cold. a fun small fall accessory when i'm not really an accessories gal.

and that's all ! in no way am i knitting all of these, this is an aspirational thing that also is mostly for my planning brain. honestly i think i might like planning out which garments to knit more than actually knitting them. either way happy knitting !

My psych says that i am emotionally dissociated and this is the reason that in the past 6+ months i have actually felt a single emotion. The rest of the time i feel nothing. Absolute apathy. I get physical sensations of emotions (like tight chest when i would usually feel anxious, widespread tension/pain when i would feel angry, sinking chest and nausea when i would usually feel sad) but i dont actually *feel* the emotions. I have been explaining it like how it feels when getting a cavity fixed, the dentist numbs up the tooth so you dont feel the actual pain, but you still experience the physical sensations like the vibrations, smell, and scraping. She says its because i am still living with my ex and even tho we are friends, i still havent been given the chance to step back and actually let myself process all of my feelings.

Thats probably one of the reasons i am just now realizing im probably really depressed. Which would make A LOT of sense given a lot of the things that have happened in the past 6 months. Like. I broke up with my fiance the same day i got the money for a deposit for a wedding venue, i have lost not one, but three of my cats. And i never got to tell any of them bye because they live with my parents and even tho i didnt want them living outside, i didnt get a voice in the matter since i no longer lived there and the house went from my 2 parents, to 4 adults and a baby and they just didnt have room. Two of them were just really old and we think they did the animal thing and just went off somewhere to die alone and it *hurts* because the first one to go was my favorite because of how sweet he was and who i always slept with in my arms when i would visit (i have struggled so hard to spend the night there with him gone). But once he was gone the other two were gone within the next two months and none of them were expected (like we knew bandit and bunnie were old but we expected to them to pass away inside the cat pen where they stayed every night like every barn cat before them had and that way we could bury them up on the hill, but it didnt turn out that way). I have also developed more concerning health symptoms and have gotten no answers to them. And now my mom has broken her shoulder and isnt going to be able to work for the next 3 months and even tho shes getting workers comp, her pay is significantly less and shes my sole source of income right now. And so i am always already feeling guilty about spending any money but now i feel worse about it and am having panic attacks because i got fast food once this week because i was flaring too bad to make anything myself even tho my mom gives me money *specifically* so i can get food and stuff when i am in a flare.

But yeah i have realized i am almost certainly depressed and the funny thing is that the way i realized this was a tumblr poll. It was asking what peoples hobbies were and i couldnt answer it because in the past year i havent really had anything hobby wise. Ive mostly stopped reading, i am not doing pour paintings, not doing my paracord stuff, and anytime i decide im going to finally start knitting i just end up picking up the yarn and staring at it for a bit before setting it back down and going back to sitting on the couch with the tv on in the background for background noise.

Im going to see my psych on wednesday and i hope to talk to her about this but i also dont know what there is to do about it. Probably raise my antidepressant but idk. Im not even sad so i dont see the point in raising my antidepressant because idk what being not depressed would change because were pretty sure the apathy is because of current circumstances and not just because of depression idk. I just want everything to be normal again

that’s so cute!!! crochet garlands are adorable,, one of my friends made me a daisy garland a few months ago and i love it sm !!! i love when people crochet things as a gift, it’s so much more special that way :( 🫶

not to complain abt everything but it is 1 finals week and im extremely bored bc i have no classes that take over my entire brains bandwidth (but at least i can be home soon with my cats) 2 im starting to get frustrated with crocheting and knitting cuz the last two things ive tried to make have either turned out ugly (and not the intentional ugly sweater way just ugly) and i got frustrated with amigurumi. aaaaaaauagh

i might go back to the ugly sweater idea but i will sleep on it and find out if i hate it tomorrow. i might just frog the whole thing cuz its mostly the ugly orange yarn that it making me question things. like its an okay color on its own but its like too bright and too dark at the same time. idk what else i might do with it so i might donate it or keep it for like a granny square project. but i would hate to get rid of the yarn bc even tho i hate it and it is ugly, i do not have yarn money rn and my stash is kinda low lmao.

i could just say fuck it and start knitting the cardigan i planned to do over winter break to keep me from going insane but i dont want to finish it halfway thru break and then have nothing. idk i do plan on frogging and resusing the yarn from at least two projects i think, but ive been scrounging around for patterns so much that my brain hurty

im using circular. I rarely use my straights, and this is supposed to be like a baby blanket too so i knew itd be easier to hold on circular.

I dont think my stitches are th3ar tight tho, im trying to be kinda loose with it. Idk maybe they are tight its just hard for me to tell, ive ben kinda gauging my tension by "i cant slip the needle into the stitch easy enough, but traveling the stitches up and down my needles has always been tricky for me, idk how to do it without just shoving it all, and these needles are plastic which makes it hard to do even that at times." i just dont wanna make the gaps in the stitches too big either, im using the size the yarn recommended rn. But im also trying to mess around with how i tension, so ive been kinda inconsistent with how i do it through out

it's easier to hold the yarn for me in my left hand but then purling kinda forces me to use my right. And I've been trying to force myself to use my right at least for a few rows before this but somehow every little movement loosens it from my pinky that it ends up not really being tensioned at all. Which was driving me crazy, i had to pinch it Between the knuckles on my pinky and my ring finger to get it to stop untensioning itself on my right hand. And eventually i just gave up and recently went back to my left hand tension a couple rows back.

The yarn yeah probably...I've just had this stuff in my stash for forever, maybe even since i was in highschool 😬 and wanted to actually use it so i didn't have to buy more yarn. I go through long droughts of knitting/crocheting so i think i purged a lot of my stash during my last drought so this was the best and most abundant option i had.

Although now that im thinking about i might not even have enough that i need for it... i was going off yardage for a completely different size yarn and needle for a completely different stitch for a completely different blanket tutorial from YouTube...the chart i got my reference from was for 5 weight yarn with size 10 needles for a moss stitch blanket and this is 4 weight yarn with size 8 needles for a simple garter and purl blanket and i just kinda guessed for how many stitches i needed , i think i cast on 140 stitches...... I've got 2 spools of yarn for a total of 1086 yards.... im like trying to be in denial about it idk. i wanted to do a mostly pink blanket [i know the lighting makes it really unclear what color it is but its supposed to be a pink/gray "twist" rn] but i think im starting to run low on my pink gray yarn on this spool and it makes me a little worried for if I'll have enough pink or if ill have to use more of my gray / gray/pink.

Idk Basically tldr I've already put in like 3 days of work on this and i dont really WANT to unravel it all, esp with this yarn if i unravel it i feel like it might just completely split apart and be unusable. I really wanted to just use up this yarn I've had sitting around for an eternity and just fix the dropped stitches somehow but it going through my one row of purl was throwing me off.

Every time I pick up my needles to try knitting again im reminded why i barley do it, because i blink and somehow drop a stitch and its so ANNOYINNNNGGG to try and fix esp compared to Crochet anyway, knitting tumblr if you have any advice that'd be great.

I think i dropped it on a garter row but the stitch next to it is also kinda messed up cus i also kept splitting the yarn without realising [that im blaming on the yarn this thing wants to untwist so bad it makes it look stupid] that my solution was to try knitting in some of the loose strands into the [next?] Stitch. But i passed the purl row and im back to garter.

In the meantime im going to bed....

Hello again! I've actually written the down some of my "Jason and the Spraypaint 'Thief'" idea tho its mostly scaffolding and i dont feel ready to share it just yet, but progress is being made!

If I may ask for your advice once more, the story has begun leaning towards Anger Management vibes (thanks for that brainrot too (affectionate)), but i dont feel great that the genesis of Jason and Jazz meeting is after Jason basically stalks Jazz in his hunt for whoever is buying his spraypaint before he can. Like, she is the one buying the paint, but the dynamic feels too onesided atm in terms of agency, but idk what Jazz would be doing that could parallel Jason.

The best Ive got is she tried to find out who bought out the yarn she was knitting with (it was Jason being petty), but I dont think she'd care as much as Jason does with the paint and it also feels too samey.

...Just had this thought while writing this, would it vibe with Jazz's character if she kept tabs on the Batfam for Danny? Like in terms of location. Ive got it that Danny dosnt want anything to do with the Batfam atm, Gothem is their turf fighting-wise and he dosnt want to encroach on that (tho he does help people in need when he comes across them), he just wants to make cool art in weird places (and maybe some ghost king stuff, not sure on that just yet) (maybe as a coping mechanism bc I do like the angst that comes from 'Danny leaves Amity bc the Fentons reactly badly to him being a halfa', tho still not sure how he gets into spraypaint yet, that feels like an important detail), so Jazz keeps tabs on their patrols for Danny so he can spraypaint without drawing their attention, and then Jazz notices Red Hood acting a bit odd and does her own investigating to make sure its not ghost business (she would know that RH has ghost vibes from Danny and his current spraypaint investigating behaviour maybe looks like a ghost obsession without context), and maybe she ends up pulling a Tim and figures out Red Hood is Jason, just due to ghost vibes instead of acrobatics.

I havent even gotten to them actually meeting in my planning yey, its just discovery eachother from afar and general thoughts of 'thats the person Im looking for, they're kinda cute' so far. Current vauge idea is they meet in a fight, tho i might be biased bc i did recently reread 'cant help falling (in love with you)' (i think i said this before, but amazing story btw, eagerly waiting for the next chapter!)

Jason is a crime fighter and a vigilante and also a very extra boy. He is petty and arrogant and sometimes he is not above using his skills for personal use.

You can make it so she knows what's going on and leads him in a wild goose chase just for funsies. Make Jazz petty as well. Make her highly competent. Make her win in his own game and boom, no more power imbalance. (Also that can be a cool "I need to know more of this woman" kind of situation.)

Another alternative, is making her think he is stalking her for unsavory purposes and beat the shit out of him.

I like what you said about Jazz being the one that keep tabs on all the vigilantes. She could have profiled them all, studied their patterns, and Tim Drake her way into memorizing their patrol routes so Danny can paint in peace.

So that's why when her new stalker starts bothering her, she is so Done(tm) that she is not afraid to gatekeep, gaslight, girlboss her way into making him stop.

How she does it? Dealer's choice.

(Jason is into women that can kick his ass, be it physically or in smarts)

So in conclusion I think if you want to not fall into icky power imbalances and not fall into highly competent Mary Sues tropes, the sweet spot would be Jazz making the choice to take act or not, and base it on actual conflict: If she can't just beat the shit out of him, explain why. If she is not going to make a deal out of it, explain why. Make the character have agency and a choice in the matter, even if that choice is inaction.
