Tier 1 - legitimately good quality content i recommend viewing

Room Zero - as someone who was personally Waiting those multiple years to see that rvb animated episode be finished i was so excited by this one. also i just love the animation + attention to character details in the og one. even though it doesnt really add much to that original base, newer fans should watch it to appreciate the animation cuz its cute. especially fond of every character detail moment like church running backward and using his hand to slide or the earliest iteration of grif being canonically animated as fat. idk i love it a lot and i think its p cute and well worth the watch. it's also the first episodically which is neat. good opener for s14.

The Brick Gulch Chronicles - look its stop motion lego and its cute as fuuuuuuck. the plot being sarges bday is adorable. literally awesome.

Fight the Good Fight - okay i just find it cute and quirky and generally enjoyed watching it quite a bit :) it made me laugh. the [Red] team gag was good. it reminded me of the similar gag from the simpsons in the kamp krusty episode. my dad always makes jokes about that specific gag so ahh. definitely worth the watch but understandable to skip.

Caboose's Guide to Making Friends - its just really fucking cute idfk

Head Cannon - This one's just really funny and also adds on to a scene that already was fun in a good way. Enjoyable. Highly recommended.

Get Bent - I wish sarge was still an old woman but dykenut and church bisexuality balances it out. i also wish we had female tucker. it makes me sad we didnt get female tucker.

Red vs. Blue the Musical - The reds' song is about weapons and the blues' song is about church killing himself. 10/10. no notes. perfect summation of rvb in like 10 minutes.

Mr. Red vs Mr. Blue - genuinely delightful like a distilled everything i like about tucker. he's really fun here. also sister is fun here.

The Triplets & The "Mission" - The triplets own hard. the scene with wash connie and south at the end always makes me smile. ohio girl youre fucking crazy but youre everything. I love you.

Tier 2 - Decent content. You can skip but still somewhat worth ur time.

From Stumbled Beginnings and Why They're Here - Mostly fun. Asterisk mostly. There's an episode between these two that's technically an episode trilogy you should skip. Otherwise is pretty fun.

The #1 Movie in the Galaxy: 3 - This is silly and fun. I enjoyed it. It's also short.

Meta vs Carolina: Dawn of Awesome - look man its a death battle. if you like death battle youll have fun. if you hate death battle you can skip it. shoutout sarge deadbeat dad implications though. i cant even be mad its just not the character id expect them to do that to...

Grey vs Gray - i found it fun :) nothing stand out tho. skippable but not egregiously bad.

Immersion: The Warthog Flip - Look if you Like seeing science stuff yeah its a good watch. if you dont like that you can skip it. I like the math and science though. you don't lose anything in skipping though.

Tier 3 - Meh

Orange is the New Red & Invaders from Another Mother - theyre not bad but aged... poorly. i thought they were funny when i was younger but i watched funhaus actively then. i dont know how this would fare to a non-FH fan. Desert Dance [Spins]

Red vs. Blue vs. Roosterteeth - I KNOWWWWW THERES A LOT OF NOSTALGIA its just .... not very funny. its creators meeting their characters but its also odd in a strange way. you can watch it if youre curious enough. i liked the end voice over of s14 a lot tho so like maybe watch it and if youre bored skip to the end lol

Tier 4 - Drink a lot or watch with friends to experience enjoyment

Club, Call, & Consequences - look man the only way youre enjoying this is if you are a hardcore lolix guy or you are wasted out of your mindddd. im sorry who the fuck is siris. i honest to god thought siris was a bit as a joke on the whole thing of "grif simmons and hammer" from earlier. they never even mention siris again. who the fuck is siris. i felt like i was like lied to or something . sorry siris is so fucking funny. well he didnt have a personality but thats ok. i dont know if he actually exists.

RvB Throwdown - Get Miles Luna out of the booth. never let him rap again.

Tier 5 - Bad. Skip it.

Fifty Shades of Red - Fifty Shades of Red has possibly one of the worst jokes in the series that immediately assassinates Tucker into a pretty fucking awful light and retroactively ruins his character for the preceding 13 seasons. I honestly recommend skipping Fifty Shades of Red to avoid that one tucker joke. its not necessary and contributes nothing. The rest of the episode is fine and on the level of stumbled beginnings & why theyre here. but god that one joke is so bad i can't in good faith recommend it. it just leaves me fuming LOL i could write an essay as it being the origin point of post s13 writers room tucker hate where they start trying to make him an irredeemable asshole & dont understand his whole deal for the rest of the series.

a discussion idea! (long post)

my husband and i were chatting last night while cleaning up dinner; he pitched a fun idea that could be a great topic of discussion in the simblr community. maybe this should be a SQotD submission - IDK but: he asked how i feel about sims 2 expansion packs now compared to when they came out. initially, i said "yeh idk, i guess the same?" and that was that.

i put a more thought towards his question and realized, i do feel a bit differently about some of the EPs now compared to when they came out - all under the cut!

university: i was SO SO excited about it bc i didnt go away to college like my friends did so it was a way to vicariously-ish get the experience and a bonus was zombies! now tho? yea i still enjoy it even tho the dormies eventually start pissing me off bc theyre just so damn dumb lmao

nightlife: same level of excitement. i LOVE cities and i love vampires too. this scratched the "i need to go downtown chicago" itch when i couldnt from lack of transportation and safey being a v smol person afraid of the worst. i played all my sims in "downtown", specifically, 107 Custer Blvd. I made-over that lot dozens of times, it's seen dozens of different families and had a million different lifetimes. Nightlife still stands as my fave TS2 EP and 107 Custer - my all-time favorite lot to play.

open for business: initially, i had ZERO excitement over this pack. i personally, right out of high school basically, had NO interest in working myself (i didnt, i went to community college and got by ok w/ chore-money basically) so why the hell would i want to put my sims to work too?? i also didnt care for the music (i like it more now tho) as an Adult - i do enjoy this pack more than i ever did when i was a clueless near-20-yo. also, love the servos but i dont play w them nearly as much as i should being a bot fan and all. (i should fix that)

pets&seasons: i was pumped for these bc MORE IMMERSION AND REAL LIFE STUFF!!! also, weather and animals LOL. i still love these packs the same as i did when they initially released. just kinda wish plantsims werent annoying for me to play, i love them from afar tho! werewolves are neat but theyre also kind of a PITA to play.

bon voyage: EH i dont really go on vaca a lot myself, my sims dont either for the same reasons: money! im also still scarred from the one time i did send my sims on vaca and they got STUCK THERE!!! it broke all my shit and i had no way of fixing it bc i didnt know about MTS, MATY and etc to ask for help/guidance. RIP to that family lmao i hope theyre still having a nice time in the vaca-void theyre prob still floating around in! (note: ive never found bigfoot, some day i wish to!)

freetime: we all have hobbies right? it was all fine and good until the fire nation attacked i was being inundated with a ton of hobby spam, be it notifications, the hobby sims and the lots. it was a lot. its far more manageable now thanks to mods so i dont mind playing into hobbies. i do appreciate the return of the genie tho!

apartment life: ok, look. i thought this was super cool then but now, after living in apartments myself, i despise them and dont put my sims in them anymore either. i do love the witches tho, prob my fave aspect of this pack!

Personality:

Getting the technical things out of the way first, I am a Taurus Sun+Venus with Leo moon/ascendant. I am an enneagram type 3 ENTJ.

I think my leading trait is that I like to push both myself and people to do better. Not always in a doting way, and admittedly I can be a little harsh sometimes, especially when seeing wasted potential (or continous stupidity).

On the flip side of this, I thrive when I see someone doing better especially if I feel like what I said or did has meaning.

I like knowing the 'why' of things, and can get a wee bit pushy if I feel like someone is stalling on a yes/no thing, which I am trying to improve on, same goes for being patient both with myself (i have crippling performance anixety) and others. I enjoy talking with people on a deeper level, but I would never force someone to share until they are ready, but I will gladly help them open up if they allow me to.

Aestethic: I would say I flip-flop between grunge/dark academia in the winter, and pretty girl with summer dresses in the summer/late spring. I enjoy and prefer dressing feminine, and having a nice silhouette is always a big thing for me, especially in a well sewn winter coat or a summer dress with a flowy skirt.

I have dyed dark red hair, brown eyes and I am 5"3 so I love me some heels as well. I love experienting with eyeshadow colours to match with my outfit, only for it to be overpowered by my winged eyeliner and hooded eyes lol

Hobbies:

Tying to the personality part, I enjoy things that make me do better. I have been going to the gym for 2 years and have built up lean muscle quite well, which is my main focus.

I also play videogames (League mainly 😔), preferably ranked, or story-based ones, as I do 3D and I love to see how narratives are written. Hence my graduation work for uni was a 3D animation film.

I have recently gotten back into cosplaying too, which I try to do my best at, I am currently engineering a mechanical 4-piece wing for a character named Kayle!

I enjoy collecting luxury parfumes and jewerly, I recently just got a Vivienne Westwood earring, and a Burberry perfume.

Type: Honestly, I dont see myself who is not at least a bit of a go-getter. I want to push and sometimes I need to be pushed, which is okay. As long as I dont feel like Im stagnating with someone in a relationship, I am happy to work out anything that comes up. No relationship is a perfect fit from the get go.

9. Tellius

I am going to get crucified for this take but I don't care. I hate the story of Tellius. Nothing about it interests me. FE9/10 is the first time in the series where I was actually endeared to a grand total of 0 members of the cast. I seriously don't know what else to say. Like I don't think I would feel this strongly about Tellius if it wasn't praised as the best this series has to offer. I would genuinely just see it as a mediocre story with decent world building and forgettable characters.

Also if you do like Tellius, I am very happy that you could connect with something I couldn't. I mean that, the fact that people like something you don't should be a good thing. Most of the time. To be perfectly honest I am very picky and snarky when it comes to fantasy media because I dislike when people use simplistic metaphors for complex real-world issues.

However, I know that there are people who like simpler fantasy with more clear metaphors. It exists for a reason. There's an audience for Tellius 100%, but that audience is not me.

8. Valentia

So. What can I say I like about the Valentian cast? I like Sonya. That's about it? Yeah... I think FE15 does a good job breathing life into these characters but the problem is that more-so than any other game, this cast is riddled with misogyny. I won't get into it in this post because it's a very layered issue, but out of every original playable female character, only one of them is independent and doesn't marry, she gets turned into a witch in her epilogue. Sonya deserved better.

7. Archanea

Archanea characters don't have personalities but they get to be higher then Valentia and Tellius solely because they don't annoy me as much. I can point out what I don't like with the other casts. Like, I don't like that Danved is the only black character in the franchise and he looks like that. I don't like that Shinon doesn't really have a reason to be an asshole other than he's just an asshole. I don't like how Leon is one of the only gay characters in the series and he falls in love with a straight man. I could go on. What can I say about Archanea though? Nothing really. There's nothing there to like or dislike about the characters. They just exist to exist, and they exist to be cannon fodder. That's really it.

Tiki is neat though.

6. Ylisse & Valm

Ah yes, the game where every playable character has an annoying gimmick. Listen, say what you want about Awakening's cast, at the very least they're all memorable. I have an opinion on most of the Shepards. In theory, it works. Everyone can make an impression on the player, and it can make you want to learn more about them just from a line with a lot of personality. In execution it's just really annoying. However, I still find myself liking quite of few of them. The children especially, probably because their gimmicks are more subdued half the time.

5. Nohr/Hoshido

Same thing as Awakening. Most of them have an annoying gimmick. Keyword: MOST. I think it's way worse with the kids, which was a much, MUCH better call. If I had to spend time with the pickle guy in the main story, I would just drop Fates entirely. I'm being so serious.

4. Fódlan

Three Houses has the best written cast. It also has the most written cast. You could say the non-lords have gimmicks and I'd agree, however because the way it's set up those gimmicks aren't on full display in every one of their non-support lines. They aren't annoying because they're written like people, ya' know? Think of your acquaintances, you probably only know one thing about them. Hilda is lazy, Caspar is brash, Marianne is self-deprecating, Ashe is nice, etc. However just because you don't know them very well doesn't mean that's all they are, it's a big part of who they are but it not always on display. Three Houses does a really good with its cast in that regard and I think that's why so many people gravitated towards that game in particular, you really are getting to know your students and are beginning to care about them. Three Hopes does worse with this but it's a spin-off. What did you expect?

3. Jugdral

I think I've cemented myself as someone who knows jack-all about Jugdral, and I honestly intend to keep it that way, (even though I know it pisses off FE4 fans and I don't like making people genuinely upset, just like haha silly upset) but. But, but, but. I DO know stuff about FE5- and my verdict is- for a game with absolutely no character writing, they really do make you care about these characters. Unless it's Kane, Alva and Robert. I'm not kidding you, I genuinely LIKE Osian, even though he has like 10 lines if that. I genuinely LIKE Tanya, even though she only has like 3 lines that aren't about her dad or her boyfriend. I fucking LOVE Mareeta, because she GETS LINES. I also love Salem, his design is rad and 'Ruining Moomin' has endeared me to ex-cult members. If any Kaga game deserved a remake with supports, it was FE5.

Also I like Tine. I know very little about her but her theme hurts my soul and what I know of her backstory upsets me in the same way Jaffar's lack of backstory upsets me and that's a good way for me to attempt to adopt a fictional character.

2. Elibe

"But it's just an Archanea rip-off! How can you like the cast of FE6 and not the cast of FE1/3/11/12?" SHUT UP. SHUT UPPPP. THAT'S THE POINT. Everything about Elibe is supposed to subvert your expectations based on what you know from previous games. Does the lords father die? Nope. Is the creepy shadowy figure lurking behind the main antagonist controlling him? Nope. Is the woman who's in love with the main antagonist in love with him because he secretly has a heart of gold? Nope. Are <blank> dragons inherently evil? Nope. Even Roy having red hair is a subversion. Red is often treated as the opposite of blue, ya' know? The cast is full of Archanea expies to make you THINK it's a rip-off. However, if you forgot, the cast of Archanea is full of damn pawns. There is nothing to rip-off other than appearance, role and a vague idea of what their personality is. The cast of FE6 isn't bland. You just haven't looked past how the early game is purposefully full of expies. I'm not apologizing for this one. If you think FE6 has a boring cast I will fight you.

For FE7, everything you could say about that cast has been said. They're incredibly strong in their own right and connects pretty well to FE6 even though the story didn't. Nino and Jaffar are my all time favorite Fire Emblem characters for a reason.

It also has a trio of preteen boys with contrasting personalities and if you've been on my main you know I have a weakness for that dynamic solely because of Ed Edd n' Eddy.

1. Magvel

Hey, look my most obvious take since the time I said "Magical Mystery Tour" is a better album then "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band!"

I want to get one thing clear, it does not take much for me to like a cast. The one requirement is that every character is involved with a story for a reason, Scared Stones is the only FE game where that's done correctly. Everyone you play as has a reason to be in your army, and everyone who opposes you has a reason for that too. Even the characters that are otherwise pretty bland have a role in the story somehow, even if its very minor.

I could honestly gush about this cast till the end of time but thats boring. I'll just say that FE8 has the best axe guy duo and the best red/green cavalier duo in the franchise.

can i just say i love the demoni album (by joker out)?? every song literally goes so hard even the one i'd rank last if i had to is really goddamn good. i also like how the album contrasts with umazane misli (the album not the song) as its sort of about falling in love whilst demoni is like falling out of love? i haven't listened to the majority of umazane misli so im sorry if im wrong lmfao anyway. i had a thought that was like "the track order is usually on purpose right?" so that prompted me to make a summary of the contents of each song and i was like wait. this is a storyline. sorry again if these summaries are not fully correct i made them with one braincell and i dont have the energy to look up the lyrics again haha ok so katrina is like just post-breakup. "why do you keep on playing me. do you love me or not? i need you and hate you at the same time". ne bi smel is like "im sorry this was all my fault but i didnt have any other choice. i want you back but i know i betrayed you. it's my fault. im sorry". plastika is sort of like a side thing possibly its about hating how you look and having surgery to look perfect and beautiful. "it doesn't matter about anything else, im perfect now". i think this song has a deeper meaning that would fit more cleanly into the storyline of the other songs but im not big brained enough to figure out how exactly if i figure out ill update this. now, massive whiplash as we jump into demoni which is like "i need you here. when im not here my demons play with me" (idk how to better explain it besides just drawing from the og lyrics hah) important to note that this song is the title track. padam is like "i should've believed them instead of going through with us. someone help me. please. where is everyone?" vse kar vem is like "everything ends eventually, you just didn't need me anymore". ona is like "you never cared. but i care so much. so so much". tokio is like "we're not gonna see each other again. only photos will know we were together". note the more peaceful music as opposed to the deeply upset vibe of the others. kind of ironic how ngvot is like "ah, so we meet again. we've both changed albeit differently. we don't talk about it anymore though!" note the incredibly happy music of the song it's so incredibly jarring hearing them repeat "we dont talk about it anymore" with this happy ass music lmfao lastly novi val is like really abstract and could really mean a lot of things. i take it as a general message but it could really be anything. also note that it makes me want to cry so bad. one day im gonna bawl my eyes out because of that goddamn song agh OKAY UM OKAY. so basically the whole album is about a slow acceptance of the breakup but still feeling bitter about it at the end. i think. however this mystery person (probably called katrina) that the singer broke up with could've been anything tbh. you can interpret this really broadly and i think that's why i like the album so much too. it doesnt have to just be about events and feelings post-breakup but also just things in a general sense. so you can find solace in the album regardless of what your situation is. i think thats pretty neat.

I want to share the thought I researched on haechan..he is a successful idol for his age nd he is good at singing and great at dancing...even their choreo master praised him as he is the first one to learn the dance fast nd his movement are very neat..he even included haechan in his team if he ever to make a 5 member team..ye ofcrs when 127 performs he does stand out to me..especially when his sexy moves dominates the stage..but what amazes me is that he doesnt attracts me when he is alone...dont take it badly..(I really hate to admit it as his fan tho) ..but the stage presence I got even from doyoung (he is way behind in dancing if we compare with haechan that's why I took him as an example) I dint get it from haechan...he nor dominate the stage nor give the spark.as his fan it really makes me wonder..how is to build up the stage presence....what I am saying is some ppl get the vibe only from standing in the centre..becoz of their aura..is it naturally getting or to make...I dont knw...he can entertain,be funny ,make contents everything.. .he is really good...but he stand out only when he is doing smthng with his grp..for me....just my opinion...nd that's really sad...

First of all, I think different people understand stage presence differently. Some pay more attention to the aura, others to facial expressions, yet another to movements and execution of a choreo.

Hwanwung from Oneus is an interesting case. Some really like his dancing and praise him for his stage presence, make an example of him, I like him as a person and a vocalist but find him very over the top, trying too hard to be liked, to show off, to be worthy of being called the main dancer (similar to Jungwoo). He is frankly on the cringy side.

Very few people in NCT have stage presence (enough to stand alone on the stage, of course almost all of them are much more expressive and experienced than average idols). I think in part because there are so many introverts in the group, in part because they didn't need to master it being a part of a group. Like take Taeyong, he is a timid guy, he even skipped school because he didn't have friends in high school, didn't blend in. He is still awkward. However, he was first made to evolve into a prospective trainee (learn dancing and rapping) and later pushed into the leader position. Taeyong had to learn how to be the liason between the management and the group, how to be a spokeperson, how to be a hyung to all the younger neos (he really liked being in Super M because, for a change, he was taken care of by 3 older artists he looked up to).

Haechan wants to be a singer-songwriter, maybe he will choose an image that doesn't need a lot of dancing. Or maybe he will work on it. Plus, solo artists perform with a group of backdancers.

As for the aura. Haechan slouches and he doesn't work with his face. Some idols can get away with it if their faces look fierce with make up (like Jae) or very pretty, Haechan's resting face is a bit sour.

Haechan is a show stealer in the group in my eyes, but thanks to his movements.

We, people, are hierarchial animals. We look up to those who are higher than us, they are important. The verbal language evolved late. We still rely a lot on non-verbal signals. The gaze, the posture, the attitude, the way others react to the person in question (their approval, popularity points), the marking of the rank (a crown, bodyguard, expensive clothes), the confidence. All of it makes "the aura".

Doyoung knows it, he works on it. Everyone noticed his upgrade with acting facial expressions after the musical. He worked for DJJ, mastered poses and gestures for the choreos. I guess Haechan is focused more on the dancing (everyone knows he watches his fancams all the time). It is hard to notice something about yourself as you are biased or too focused on certain details.

You can say Doyoung has had the experience which Haechan lacks. He was a vocalist of a school band, he was MC of many big shows, he had duets and solos in big arenas, he acted in tv-series and a musical outside of the circle of his bandmates. Doyoung also doesn't believe in his looks or dancing, he feels the need to compensate with something to be liked, to stand out.

So let's not give up on Haechan just yet. I believe he just needs to be left to stand alone on the stage to learn how to dominate without the help of a group.

Taeyong, Taemin - both switch off their childish personal self and "become possessed" on the stage. Donghyuk is still with Haechan on the stage.

OKAY VOCACOLLE SUMMER TOP 15 SONGS (my ranking) LETS GOO

1. Kannagi - Hiiragi Magnetite: the lyrics on this are going to keep me occupied for the longest time until i understand it better. the atmosphere of this song is just incredible, the addition of the bells in her hand in the song, the light chime-y parts of the the instrumental, the piano, the longer notes, u dont need to know the lyrics to know theres a sense of regret in here. theres enough in the chimes u can feel the inner reflection in this, & like other series songs it hits that standing at the end of world in the rain feeling. its paced so perfectly it doesnt even feel like 6 minutes. series wise i think thats not only a call back to kyuuyaku but like shoushitsu & kyuuyaku it shows off that loop theme, getting into whats going on building it up, theres a bit of calm and then it picks up again. lots of story telling & details in it to add to the narrative. haru fits it so perfectly & that's definitely by design. this song has already embedded itself in my heart

2. Stockholm Office - Crump: if kannagi wasnt posted this would take first place EASILY IMMEDIATELY. i cant say in words how much i loved this so instantly. the light whispery-ness of kafu & the spacey-ness of certain instruments and parts combined with the heavy groundedness of the rest of it is so so perfect. the poetic way the lyrics show off the state of things in this song without being super blunt about the complaints in it & the overall rhythm of it draws me in so so much. they really matched the mood of the instrumentals & the lyrics so perfectly. its not spacey enough for me to say true dissociation type feel but theres such a strong feeling of disconnection in this, that feeling of lying to urself to stick something out which im sure is entirely intended given the title. im about to become the number one promoter of this song its one of those found it at the perfect timing things for me.

3. Candy Drop - yurame: this has the usual yurame song feel. i can only describe it as sounding how carbonation in drinks feels. its trendy sounding but at the same time is all its own thing and authentic feeling. the lyrics are written in a way its like ah yeah i get that feeling. despite the lightness of the instrumental its good at getting that melancholic feel across & isnt jarring in the slightest. flower has that mix of rough & cute to suit this as well. very good song.

4. Quiet - szri: szri's usual quick & heavy pacing definitely building off what they did in anaphylaxis. even includes the smallest part of it & u know i love songs that connect to each other. gekiyaku & kafu are such a good combination too especially how they pull it off. not a very light song in terms of content but fun nonetheless & isnt that what vocaloids about.

5. Euthanasia - Dopam!ne: a lighter/simpler song in terms of instrumentals that he does. nice change & still very distinctly his style. definitely not a light song in terms of content the guy even put a content disclaimer at the end. still easy to listen to if u like his style tho. good song

6. Waste - mairu: this ones probably about as heavy as szri's quiet musically speaking though theres a few calmer sections. flower's roughness fits the topic well i think. another one where the mood of every part of the song just seems to align well. i dont have anything profound to say i just think its neat

7. OSINT - Sheeno Mirin: i love the atmosphere in sheeno mirin songs a lot & this one doesnt disappoint. interesting vocal combination choice not that they overlap in any part & they work well with what they were going for. theres something brain scratching (in a good way) about the instrumental, a full sound thats got a weight to it but isnt too much. its really good idk what else to say

8. groom groove - yowanecity: i feel like its been forever since ive seen anything from yowanecity i really should follow them anyway i got really excited to see they posted & this didn't disappoint. its got that bounciness i expect from their songs. fun & smooth sounding. makes u want to dance. definitely worth your time.

9. Capsule - Fuyuu: cat rime & sekai thats so fun i love that and then the gachpon theme on top of it so fun. the sound is not what you'd expect from that description tho. it has a darker feel to it almost grungy i want to say but definitely not off putting. as part of the rime lover nation i love this song. this is going to end up stuck in my head all the time just like crow crow does. very good & both sekai & rime sound like they belong in this song 👍

10. Gambit - Yunosuke: another trendy, almost bubbly sounding song from yunosuke. pretty atmosphere to it. love the whistles & traditional sound instruments mixed in with the otherwise modern electric type sound its got going on. this would be fun to sing if i take the time to learn the lyrics. super good very worth your time

11. Rain - Gomennasai ga ienakute: the usual simple sounding style they have, deceivingly simple sounding bc its very clearly not. the tension building part right before the 3 min mark hits me in particular. very cool rin high notes at the end. very nice melancholic mood to it. maybe i should rank this higher its growing on me the more i listen to it. their lyric sense is very good. compels me. definitely give this a listen.

12. Static Love - Hagino: kafu rap nation rise up. its got that chiptune sound at first that gradually gives into a more modern edm sound. a good mix of cute, cool, and fun sounding. underrated the mixing & execution of this is too good to only have a few hundred views & yet here we are. worth your time

13. Prototype - Aira: THIS SONG GOES SO HARD!! coko chisei is such a good combo too. interesting theme going on here but the melody & such is just very good. the lalala parts make it seem a little lighter than it actually is. love the slightly wavering slightly squeaky sound on both vocals. lends a certain charm to this song.

14. Lewder Liar - Zensen: another great electro swing song from zensen. very fun fresh sounding instrumentals & flower's in no way out of place here. good mix. kind of an interesting theme going on here what with the demon stuff etc.

15. Death Game - Uron Riyu: this one is so fun to me. kafu running a death game. posting this as a vocacolle song feels like its framing vocacolle itself as a death game between songs & thats such an interesting way to look at it. kinda fun. the composition on its fun in its own way too. ik it's supposed to be dark but its just a fun song to me.

Hiii!! I saw you rb with you question about non-sharing yume, thought I could answer because I am (and since you especially talked about popular character (I think he was like 7th on the Tumblr's ranking this year lol) and mine is one too, I feel like my input could help you) ^-^

I'm gonna start by saying that, even if we sometimes forget it because we're deep in the community, yumeshipping/selfshipping is actually kinda niche and most selfshippers don't fandom tag their content or interact with the fandom at all. So even if you do interact with the fandom, there is low chances you'll see a double/dupes there. At most, you'll see a ton of fanboys/girls, so it's mostly about your sensitivity and how non-sharing you are (aka do you accept fangirls even if they don't selfship).

In my current (f/o) relationship. I don't interact with the fandom at all, but it's mostly because I had very bad experiences with the fandom so seing fan content and all kinda triggers me. But with my last f/o, even if I was non-sharing, I interacted with the fandom everyday and even if fangirls sometimes made me uncomfortable, I mostly didn't care.

When it comes to canon x canon ships it's a bit trickier. From my personal experience, I mostly don't care as long as they aren't canon and not too popular. With my last f/o I even collectionned ships art because I just wanted to see him. But in my actual one, the fanon ship is so popular that's its the kind of ship people screams "it's canon" and get defensive about, so I'd rather have nothing to do with it. It used to bother me more, now it only does when I'm already not feeling good. Because to me, I know that in canon there is no romantic implications between them so. But I also know non-sharing yume that would rather not see any ship with their f/o, and that's fair, how deeply it actually bother them is deeply personal tho.

When it comes to what to do when you're non-sharing, it's pretty easy : blocking people + blacklisting tags. Once you get used to curating your online experience, it's like nothing can bother u :3

But I'll finish by saying that, I have seen friends give up on f/os because they were too popular, or force themselves to become sharing. I'd say being non-sharing with a really popular character isn't for everyone.

more mercedonius rambling. extra long ramble

think i will give these posts little banners now since i liked doing the hastur one from a while back

this is a real ramble post because i dont even really know where this is going to go. ive just got little quarks and shit buzzing around my brain and i have to get them out. i’m going to be really cringy about this.

of course, i primarily want to talk about ptah and the high calamities in general. no one’s going to read this anyway so i can be as confusing as i like.

SOMETIMES i get SO obsessed with my little calamities that i forget what the mercedonius ranking truly means until the pieces slide into place. i fucking LOVE things beyond hunan understanding. i love “cosmic horror” shit because what i truly love is “the fear of the unknown”. initially, the whole planeswalker association and sea of stars business was meant to serve that purpose in the relicverse.

that beyond all the tales that take place, there’s some kind of foreign council in god knows where who are so far beyond any measurable scale despite the crazy shit that takes place within the stories that they don’t even bother to pay attention to what takes place. who cares. even if multiple planets are destroyed they won’t do so much as blink unless it’s an allied location. and in that case, they send forth lone soldiers through holes in space whose abilities are so far beyond comprehension that they’re able to tackle these issues without much of an issue.

and to most extents, that’s still who they are. that’s still what they do. and that’s still their placement for as much as anyone should ever rightly care. but see with me fleshing out all the information about the politics of the sea of stars and personally demystifying the P.A. ESPECIALLY with the introduction of the Hundred Nights Guild, they became way less of “look at these mysterious freaky guys” and more of “the government can be kind of cool if its fictional”. it’s not like i regret it or think it was a mistake or anything. this shit rocks. i love the planeswalker association to death and everything that came out of the shift in the way i considered their writing.

but it left a void! a void for Writing Freaky Mystery Guys As Freaky Mystery Guys. and so, through the typical course of action of “let’s comb through some older loose ends” it was only natural i settled in with the mercedonius. the council’s vaguely defined ranking system and the presence of a uniquely distinguishing ranking that went above the existing 12 (each names after the months of the year) was too neat for me not to fuck around with.

considering that alejandro was given the rank to distinguish the fact that she is incomparably powerful compared to everyone else, i started to puzzle “well, just how big IS that gap between Decembrian and Mercedonius?” and ran wild with it. from there, the mercedonius were selected extremely naturally to me. demiurge was already established as the most powerful with mystifying complicated nonsense abilities, mr.Anchorkeeper 'Father' Nero Titor has always some kind of bizarre multidimension wanderer who had the power to go toe to toe with achamoth, and Azathoth’s just been sitting around in Voidgulf doing little much of anything.

the mercedonius rank was a way of getting me interested again in my powerful little pawns i set off to the side, and with time, the most important of them became the high calamities. But i’m done talking about boring fucking developmental shit. I want to talk about boring character stuff now.

PTAH!!!! Sitting around thinking about ptah tonight is why i��m even typing up this stupid fucking post because i need to get this shit out. what an A+ character for feeding my illness. his concept has been bred to make my brain ROT.

the first born architect of the ancient race, and a disgraced member of the kailash clan. because like. what do you mean DISGRACED MEMBER OF THE KAILASH CLAN. what do you mean MINETTE wants him GONE. the kailash are fucking psycho killers dont get me wrong but to inspired true ire out of them ESPECIALLY as a member of the Kailash Clan yourself has always been something alien. get it. alien. because they’re like. space pirates. even when their goddamn child of prophecy turned out to be some piece of shit who hated their guts they did not give two fucks. they are beings who do not treat emotions in any way that is human. any perceived humanity by the Kailash of Genesis Earth is bur a mask they wear in order to manipulate their victims. like fucking hyenas of bestiary legend who mimic the voice of humans in order to devour their victims and their beloved dead. so of course i had to jingle some fucking keys in front of my own face by going “buhhh but what if they really DID hate ONE motherfucker.” because mary sue shit gets me so excited.

i could easily go off about the kailash clan in another post. expect that to come eventually.

and fuck he’s so good a the mary sue shit. i made him the master of the wandering eye of the sea in a stroke of Tie Up Loose Ends Genius. the wandering eye of the sea is one of my favorite pieces of batshit insane relicverse lore and attaching it to ptah makes it even crazier. it’s total nonsense that impresses no one but me. a unique primordial pool formerly used by horos during creation that was eventually handed off to azathoth due to their connection that was eventually abandoned due to its growing instability and azathoth’s total lack of giving a shit, letting it wreak complete fucking havoc on the rest of the developing sea of stars at large, and creating some absolute monsters that would come to define the politics of the future… and now, despite being far less of a threat, it’s still a wandering galactic storm of pure creationary potential. even trinajm veloc could only make a single half-baked sinai child from it before going “well. fuck this. This thing fucking sucks to work with And fuck the aeons too”. but ptah gets it. Of course he does. he’s seen beyond the veil after being getting mindfucked by nyarlathotep and despite rhat initially being used to control him, not only did it drive him to being too crazy to be a useful pawn to nyarlathotep, it allowed him to intuit the mechanics of the wandering eye of the sea due to understanding the more esoteric qualities of the mystic. all those nonsensical unexplainable bits of knowledge and lore he could not apply to his own reality perfectly completed when coming across something unknowable to even the greatest mind in the sea of stars. like im sorry thats kind of cool as fuck to me.

and naturally. That drives the planeswalker association and the hundred nights guild fucking crazy. because there’s this weird unregistered planeswalker going around building “art” wherever he goes. but oh my god. he’s a kailash? those guys we hate? his “art” is proven to be pieces to multiplanar weaponry whose mechanics cannot be understood? he’s utilizing the wandering eye of the sea, the very pool that hundred night’s leadership was born from? the tools of the gods who created all that is to ever be known? even the KAILASH want him dead? and they dont know ANYTHING???? Oh bitch they are going nuts. to reiterate, the branch managers of the planeswalker association are so far beyond everyone else in terms of knowledge and capability. beings who are supposed to be unshakable pillars.

and yet they can’t seem to grasp a single fucking THING about ptah’s existence. they can’t understand how he does what he does or why. they barely even know WHAT he is, with the kailash being relative unknowns in the inner rim. these people who carry the weight of the entire sea of stars on their back and yet there’s just some guy out there doing whatever the fuck he wants and they don’t know how he’s doing it, how to stop him, or ANYTHING!!!! they’re left in the DUST and have to suppress information about his existence on the off chance something goes awry and he decides to just go psycho murder on everyone.

even the hundred nights guild is only slightly less clueless. they have their own disgraced kailash who somehow STILL finds himself struggling to find the right words to explain ptah to them despite holding ZERO allegiance to the kailash clan. their ace confident swindler and unsympathetic manipulative bastard getting clammy at the hands and avoiding their gaze, stuttering and stumbling through his words as his usual silver tongue fails to weave even bronze. and understanding more about the kailash only makes ptah far more fearsome. because they know that unfeeling, indifferent iron claw of power they use to cordon off their space, they know of the King of Voidgulf who surely must be the greatest sleeping threat to the sea of stars, and yet somehow, one lone kailash has made them freeze up. one individual who these cruel masters want to kill at any cost and yet are far too fearful to approach. a man ironically resembling a scarecrow, scaring off the formidable unknowable crowd the guild struggles to even gaze at only to protect his crops through methods that can’t be understood.

and of course he has the Red Book of the Pierced Tome Set. none of them know it yet! but they’re totally going to shit themselves when they find out! of course him and trinajm have an alliance they don’t know about! they aren’t even entirely sure if trinajm exists but of course ptah’s shared a few drinks with them.

that’s my guy for real. i need to finish his video. This is what i crave. i make strong characters so they can make my other characters afraid. my whole OC process is just throwing someone onto the Fear Pyramid and the ones at the top are my favorites.

nayra’s another fun character to me because she’s the only true “alien” in the traditional sense in the relicverse. a being from “space” who is “beyond understanding” in the typical Sci-Fi Alien Movie Way. it’s simple and clean! it can be as scary as it needs to be, or funny and inoffensive too. it’s a nice position that allows her to be the silly alien wife of irving when need be, and the murderous unknowable foreign entity when its called for. and i don’t think it detracts any from the quality of her character. i think.

i honestly don’t have much to say about her aside from “oooh i love herrr”. so i’ll talk about someone else.

well i lied because i’m not really talking about collux for too long. this is a gateway into talking about the mercedonius rank in general again. but i’ll talk about her a little.

collux is what i love about writing for alejandro (the series) and reminding myself that the relicverse can just be some stupid shit sometimes. because yeah of course there’s a threat on the level of the high calamities working as an indentured servant in space walmart to seek political asylum. who are they seeking asylum with? A dude whose power is to make people poop on command. And you have to take him REALLY seriously because hes really good at making people poop.

but really collux’s existence (along with the extinction children in general) make me think about how much i love the suppression of information as my overused narrative trope thing whatever the fuckthe word is. because blah blah blah the unknown or whatever. here’s an excerpt.

The council found the need to create the ranking of Mercedonius to assign to their former leader, Alejandro Steamship Nihilo, an honorary ranking they believed was only needed for her due to her extreme level of power that far exceeded Decembrian. Though initially believing such a role was too useless to put into practice within the Planeswalker Association, eventually with the rise of the Calamity, the Planeswalker Association has come to understand the need for Mercedonius.

so, yeah. the association co-opted the ranking system after making contact with the council and whatnot bleh bleh bleh. but of course, with the council seeming unwilling to know more about the mercedonius rank at first blush, they didn’t divulge any more info. and then seeing how much they feared someone like trinajm… they looked at eachother and thought “well we probably shouldn’t tell them we have like 15 of these guys just in our plane alone right” Ahhhh……… look at that suppression of information…..

BUT HOLD!!!! because that doesn’t mean there’s 15 beings on par with the high calamities!!!!!! because only 12 of them have been born. and two of them are already high calamities. so really there’s only 10.

okay jokes aside they also just… don’t fill that niche. and luckily, the lore i’ve written explains that away too!

Though both systems are mostly the same, The Council holds rankings to much higher scrutiny than to the Association, and defines what constitutes a 'threat' much more broadly.

so no. they aren’t all high calamity level. they’d probably be able to survive against them, but honestly that goes for most people in NIHILIC EARTH. which. i probably havent posted much about . that’s where the council is and the extinction children snd where alejandro’s set and all that other bullshit it’s a whole thing

i totally just zoned out for like 10 minuyes. so that means i’m going to wrap this up and come back to talk about father ging trinajm and demi some other time. expect a part 2. and. Apart 3 and a part 4 im gonna be talking about this forever. i was gonna talk way more about collux but honestly their lore is buried under such dense character lore that its hard for me to even ramblepost about it without feeling like a complete total dork. Rhat should really say something if youve managed to read this far. It’s a lot.

Prophet's Opinion On F.F. Gebrandt's Prelapsarian Exhibition

Prefacing this of course that this is all ~just my opnion~, some may hate what i liked and loved what i didnt. But i thought it’d be fun to type up a review. 

What I liked

As always I love the world quality events, there’s always something so fun about every body working together towards one goal! This shown strongly in the clues section, seeing everyone work together to solve them all in the first 4 hours and having a doc put together for people who arent keen on puzzles was fantastic :]

I really like the items from the event, i think the affiliations are great especially for my midgame characters. Always good to have more endgame stat items. And im super curious about the neathbow option hehe gotta get my boxes together. 

I also loved the art for the event. The overall promotional art was so well done and I loved the area art of the museum so much. And i was so very very happy to see the full art of the neathbow. Illegal pride flag my beloved.

It was cool to see F F Gerdbrandt featre more heavily in a story. I always really thought she was a neat character so its really cool to see her feature more.

I also loved the.. i think it was 4th?... stage where we were getting the items to solve the problem, i liked how it was split between big endgame things, but also still provided an oppurtunity for newer players to contribute. 

Mechanics wise in general I thought it was pretty good. Pacing is always hard with these kinda of things, but it worked out pretty well to me. 

(also the 1:1 pennys reward was pretty sweet ngl. love that sweet sweet cash money)

What I didn't like

I'll be honest, I found the overall plot lackluster. I get more annoyed when I think a plot had potential and blew it, and that was the case here. The build up with the museum and the machine and time was interesting - and then meh

I didnt feel the stakes at all. I get not every event should be city ending based, but you’re going to break a law as big as time and just. That. idk. I didnt really feel like the statues were a threat. I’m also just not that big on second city lore which probably doesnt help matters.

Character choices were not present or just weak in general. There was pretty much no callback to player choice beyond maybe BaL for a couple clues, and one specific ending of one specific ES, which is rated overaull as a not highly ranked one so its weird it keeps being featured. And i wont lie, I was pretty annoyed that doing the second city war could only get a clue if you did that specific ES. like come, seriously? If that war was supposed to be foreshadowing then this just kinda feels almost rude. 

There was just... no further wrap up on the plot with time either. Like didnt more stuff happen then just the statues? Maybe more will happen later idk. Its just after the disapointment that was new years I wanted more. 

All of this put together made me care very little about the plot. If this Event was an ES i’d put it on a lower ranking, as ES are often a mixed bag, but idk i kinda expected more from the new big event. I know it was always supposed to be smaller the GCO, but eh. I think a better story could have been worked out. 

I think the Empress' part was weak at best. I don't care at all about her unless it's bringing her to justice for the terrible and selfish things she's done. I dont care about Victoria and Albert at, like sorry your cousin died or whatever,

And also like,,,, okay I have no qualms with historical fiction lmao but the RPF of such a prominent real person is always weird to me so I'm always put off when text heavily features of the Empress. That was a real person, who did real, horrible things. Makes it less fun when she does more bad stuff in game, compared to other villains in the game who are purley fictional.

And the whole thing gets kinda weird all together when you think of the long history from the victorian era to now of british museums and the items they take and...yea. oof. leaves a weird feeling with me I wont lie.

As far as Im aware the past two events have been experiments so I hope this one ran sucessfully for collecting data on stuff for the game. Excited to see what comes in the future, and despite my qualms I am still beyond thrilled over the new content we got.

Supporting Satoshi - an examination and comparison of JN36 and XY121

Part One: Snowballs do not cure depression but it was worth a shot

You know that episode of Pokemon where a gym leader beats Satoshi in a battle so hard that one of his pokemon gets mildly hurt (though there's no long term effects) and because of it he becomes depressed, closing himself off from his friends before someone comes along to pull him out of that mental state, and also severe weather phenomena is involved and a reflection of a persons mental state? Or rather, the two episodes?

So when I was watching Journeys, I noticed an episode that had a similar-- but distinctly different-- plot to an xy episode I had seen before. And what was particularly interesting was that while I couldn't stand the xy episode, the journeys episode was one of my favourites. I won't drag this out for you guys, I love the journeys episode and re watch it a LOT and the xy episode sort of just leaves me with a sour taste in my mouth. and don't go claiming its solely ship bias, because i saw the xy episode first and disliked it then.

This will analyze both of these episodes, comparing them against each other. Specifically within the context of how Goh and Serena both help Satoshi through a similar situation There will be some discussion of AmourShipping and Satogou in this analysis. I'm going to be a bit negative regarding Serena's actions and the potential "romantic" weight of them here, but I want to be clear that I Do Not dislike Serena as a character. Personally, I wish the writers had given her more room to grow outside of her romantic interests, but I do not hate Serena as a character. I do, however, disagree with her actions in this episode. Please don't take this out of context and dont be ship fighting in the comments, it's boring. This is a comparison of These Two Episodes, not of Goh and Serena and their respective ships as a whole.

This part mainly focuses on the xy episode and the second will focus mainly on the journeys. It's only divided into parts because of the tumblr post limit.

(If you like the xy episode or hate the journeys episode, awesome! having your own opinions is great. these are mine though, so i hope you'll listen to them)

With that out of the way, let's start. And I'm going to use mostly japanese names here because I'm taking screencaps from the subbed japanese copies.

The set up for each of these episodes is eerily similar as pointed out in the gag at the start.

Xy has a bit more set up before the episode in question though, with the initial loss and retreat into the forest by Satoshi taking place the episode before. The episode opens up proper with Satoshi taking time to breathe to himself, alone in the forest.

Emphasis is placed on him taking a deep breath, aided by the visuals showing them (thanks cold air) and the silence of the rest of the soundscape, with the only other sounds being the wind and some bird pokemon, plus some falling snow.

Journeys Satoshi starts off in a better mental state than Xy, with the episode starting off with him jogging along with his pokemon.

However, we can still see that he's been affected by the last battle he lost, against Saitou, as he's putting a lot of effort into training and doing better.

Which, doesn't go well for him, as he loses his next two battles as well, and drops in the World Championship ranking as a result

And he's pretty upset about it too. Same thing as over in xy. In both cases, a respective friend/love interest notes that Satoshi is upset and expresses concern.

He's got support from his friends in both situations! But that support comes across in very different ways.

But, to understand how that support manages to affect Satoshi, we need to understand the problem at play.

Now, I wanna make something clear here. Satoshi's problem is not that he is a sore loser. I'm not arguing that's not a contributing factor, or that he's not upset about the loss (particularly in the world championships), He's still bitter about the lost part, but the root of the problem is not losing, he's been shown to be fine with losing (if not a bit more motivated to win now) in prior episodes.

Satoshi's problem is that his pokemon are getting hurt. Satoshi's problem is that his pokemon are getting hurt, because they're losing battles. Satoshi's problem is that his pokemon are losing battles because he's not training them well enough. And to clarify, that's not my viewpoint, it's his. Satoshi's problem is that he's not good enough for himself, and he feels that that's something he has to fix on his own.

So how do we help him?

Our weather event in question is introduced in separate points in the episodes, but I'll cover them both now.

In xy, it's this snowstorm, which conveniently becomes a problem directly after Serena returns to the Pokemon Centre.

In journeys, it's a sandstorm! That's in near direct contrast to a snowstorm! Incredible.

Heading back to xy Satoshi, things aren't going great in the forest. Luckily, Serena's run off to find him.

I think it's of note here that Serena runs off with the best intentions, she wants to help Satoshi, plain and simple. It just sort of goes wrong along the way.

It's worth noting that Xy Satoshi tries to bring himself out of being sad by the tried and true method of "stop being sad"

Despite telling himself this, he doesn't get anywhere. Which makes sense, because it's not getting the the root of the problem. It's not even addressing it at all. He's just trying to 'be better', which isn't even a battle strategy. However, it is something I can see him saying, so this isn't a critique of Satoshi's thought process, but me pointing out that this isn't really effective. Which is supported by the narrative, because again, he doesn't get anywhere, he doesn't even move.

I can't show it in screencaps but the lights in Satoshi's eyes are shaking here, something that they consistently do throughout the series when he's feeling a particularly strong emotion. Keep that in mind. It couples well with another trait of his, and that's his hat!

And by that I mean how he hides his eyes with the brim of it when upset, something he does exactly as Serena shows up and calls out to him. Now, he's not upset that Serena is here. He's upset about the pokemon stuff still. He's trying to hide the fact that he's upset from Serena.

Serena starts off with her speech well, trying to appeal to Satoshi to let her in and talk things out. And maybe it's because he wasn't ready for it yet, or because of the way she phrases it (a lot of 'i' and 'me' language which can be helpful but can also come across as though she's making it about her. not her intent i don't think, but a possible interpretation.), it's not her fault for how Satoshi reacts regardless.

But how Satoshi reacts is not good.

Now it's really interesting to note that before this, Serena was standing while Satoshi was sitting, putting her above him in terms of active power, when it comes to how the shot is presented, but when Satoshi stands up, the camera tilts with the movement so that they're on equal level. Neat!

And Serena yells in return, scolding Satoshi for not talking about it. Not the best move, since pushing someone to talk about something that's upsetting them isn't really productive, but she's trying here and she's frustrated.

Satoshi continues to withdraw and self isolate, claiming it is his problem and that he wants to be left be. Now, this is the mindset of a clearly upset person and isolation may not be the best option, but he did make the explicit request to be left alone here.

He's clearly upset as he turns away from Serena's eye and slumps over a little.

And then Serena throws a snowball at him.

Angry as he is, you can see Satoshi's expression change when he sees Serena's reaction.

Serena tells Satoshi that she's not like the Satoshi she knows, who is always full of energy and positive and a leader, and a bunch of other positive traits. The problem here, is that Serena's looking at an idealized version of Satoshi. And while the intent here was probably meant to be something more like "you have so many wonderful traits about you I know you can do this", coupled with the snowballs and the phrasing, it seems as though Serena is scolding Satoshi for being sad.

Or rather, being angry with him for not living up to her idealized version of him, and not wanting him to express any negitave emotions.

Which is sort of a really bad mindset.

The snowballs continue, never once does Satoshi fight back. In fact, he stops arguing entirely after the first one. Serena knocks him off his feet and tells him he's not being himself, before running off. (In the english dub, Serena claims that Satoshi isn't being "the real satoshi" and then demands that the real Satoshi be "given back", so it could be worse)

Satoshi decides to literally run his problems away, because it will help him reach some kind of conclusion, and immediately trips and falls down a large hill. No, I'm not making that up. Something like this just isn't like him. He's just gotta stop being sad!

Now personally, I really disagree with the idea that "being upset" isn't "like a person". That's because based off of my own experiences, I know it can be really damaging to hold the mindset that any negative emotions you feel aren't a part of you and that you shouldn't be upset because you're usually a positive and happy person. Not the case with every person, but I personally really have a problem with shows telling children that they just shouldn't be upset instead of processing their emotions in a meaningful way. (The journeys episode doesn't do an outstanding job of it either, but this is a bit of a tangent anyway. A show that does do this right is "OK KO! Let's be Heroes" which actually deals with this problem in greater depth and does a fantastic job of it.)

But the snowball scene ends here. Now I'll get back to Journeys in a moment, but since Serena has finished her part of the comparison for the most part, I'm going to summarize a bit more of the xy episode.

Satoshi decides to literally run his problems away, because it will help him reach some kind of conclusion, and immediately trips and falls down a large hill. No, I'm not making that up.

The snowstorm kicks in, Serena get back annoyed, then similarly groans and yells, and the whole xy gang + pokemon go running off in search of Satoshi. Pikachu appears the most concerned.

Now Serena tells the others she lost her cool and said something horrible to Satoshi, but explains its because Satoshi is someone she admires. Cool motive, I get it, still kinda bad.

and in the end, it's not Serena's words that get he message across to Satoshi. The solution to this problem was Satoshi finding a way to reaffirm his abilities and instinct.

In the xy episode, he helps some pokemon out of the tree, and when his very cool frog friend shows up, they're able to work together with their bond to save this one from falling off a cliff.

Here's the point. Satoshi learns by doing, by actions. He needs to see first hand that there are ways of getting past his problems, and that it's worth having the courage to keep going. The lesson is about valuing pokemon as equals and partners, and specifically that trying to be better as the trainer alone isn't going to help.

This is essentially where this plot line ends, team rocket is there for a bit as well but as much as i love them they're not relevant here, and some fun stuff with the league, love it not important right now its like 3am and I'm not sleeping until this is finished so we gotta keep things moving.

This was no doubt Serena's intent to get a similar point, but she goes about it the wrong way. She tries to convey this with words, as conversation and motivational words have helped her in the past (Elle's words of praise stick with her, Satoshi's words from when they were kids, etc). It's a good idea, but their different ways of learning and growing from a similar situation are incompatible, and that's why things don't work out in Serena's favour. There's also still the problem of "pulling yourself together" not being helpful in this case.

There's also a very similar line in this scene to the one at the end of the journeys episode, as Satoshi says to his frog that they should start over from scratch. It's essentially the same phrase with different wording. It's great. The Storm ends as he realizes this as well! Wonderful in terms of pathetic fallacy.

The gang all reunites, its nice. Satoshi thanks Serena for what she said after apologizing to everyone, which contradicts what he said earlier but I've already established that I dislike this message here so I won't go over it too much. I guess he's right in a literal sense in that in response to her words he went and ran until he tripped off a cliff but the emotional growth here was because of his own actions (and the frogs), not Serena's. Sorry Serena, you'll get em next time.

This is essentially where this plot line ends, team rocket is there for a bit as well but as much as i love them they're not relevant here, and some fun stuff with the league, love it not important right now its like 3am as I write this so we gotta keep things moving.

P-BANDAI PAIR RINGS: RANKED (part 3)

reaching the present, so just a few more to clean up. and mostly sentai, actually? part one here and part two here. lets do this

19. lupin yellow and patren sango ring set- 6/10

and back to a sentai set! not one of my favorites, again, unfortunately. the gold and rose gold works a little better here but is still iffy, and using both of their rounded visor shapes as the motif just feels a bit mushy.

it is, however... the only ring set i found that focused on two female characters. So That’s Something

20. lupin red and patren ichigo VS ring set- 8/10

yeah, a very similar design but a definite improvement. the V S of the teams badges make for much stronger motif, especially since you can read the letters together. and that silver and gold! sorry, just a sucker for silver and gold

21. horobi and jin parent and child rings- 7/10

very simple set, definitely not clockable as toku merch unless you already know. i can respect that. both of these rings would be Pretty Boring on their own though

...while originally released while 01 was still airing, to specifically represent horobi and jin, this design does work for kr mbjr, huh...? that bodysharing principal i guess... (but that probably makes most remaining 01 fans sad.)

22. ryusoulger rings set- 8.5/10

at least we dont have to end of that depressing note, since the currently last ring set is this lovely one from ryusoulger!

...actually maybe nada fans are still sad. they always seem sad. well, nothing to do about that.

good note to end on! silver and gold, and the way the motifs interlock is quite nice. oh, and neat detail i noticed:

each of these bands actually has two gems! one of them on each band just gets covered up when worn together. thats a great little note that really adds to how each looks when separate, i appreciate it.

Only for now though, since I’m sure we’ll keep seeing more of these sets. There’s still plenty of backlog, as well as recent shows like Saber and Zenkaiger that have pretty obvious duos for inspiration.

And i welcome it! admittedly, some of these can be kinda awkward in the sense that... oh, you’ll acknowledge this bait-y relationship to sell merch of it, but not commit to it in the show? but on the other hand, there just really isnt any almost any other ongoing merch Just focused on relationships, platonic or otherwise like this. and given that the relationships between characters is what so many of us return to tokusatsu for, amongst the deluge of the rest of these shows’ merchandise im glad there’s at least Something to represent that :)

the fucking way his character develops from licky man to best dad material is my favorite thing

his outfit is so so so good i would die to wear it

imo the way that his death was drawn out was genuinely one of the most heartbreaking deaths in the entire series and fucks me up each time i think of it

the fandom interpretation is normally pretty good of him overall?

Like to think that alongside Volt, Mylene and Lync were also recruited by Hydron

None of them officially joined until they were a bit older but probably trained to eventually join the Vexos; in the mean time they probably worked for Hydron or something like that

Volt recruited at 11; Lync a year later and Mylene following not long after (respectively 13, 8, 12 when they’re all gathered)

My reasoning to why Volt is patient with Lync’s antics and Mylene less so but doesn’t lash out as badly as you think she would around annoying little kids; grew up tgt moment

Spectra probably forced his way into the Vexos like “hiiii i see you dont have any Vexos members <3″ bcs obv he wasn’t using royal scientist dad privelages (i think, bcs Clay seems horrified abt Spectra being a Vexos and well, being Spectra) 

Shadow had an advantage of being a nobleman (in terms of him being accepted into the Vexos’ ranks)

the Vexos and their set of rules magent-ed on the fridge door or something and every time they go over a page they have to staple/tape a new page on

Joined in this order, Volt, Spectra, Shadow, Mylene, Lync, Gus 

Vexos being a “chance of death low but the chance is still there” type of job... they feel like idols girl help they are bakugan idol group who work for the government

think it’d be REALLY funny if he already knew Shadow before he became Spectra, Shadow just doesn’t recognize him bcs of his stupid get up

throws childhood friends Shadow Spectra at you, just two weirdos 

Keith specifically keeps Shadow from ever meeting his sister which is why neither of them really recognize each other

Pre-Spectra; probably would’ve been really into bakugan biology and what not. Feels like the kind of person to talk w/ his dad about “do you think we could change their appearance if we messed w/ their mechanical ball form or would it not carry over to their released forms”

Just Some Gut background; middle class just living life

[canon?] was going on a route to being an “idol brawler”, because that’s kind of what their brawls felt like, since it was all purely for show with some competition. it felt less like a sport and more spectacle.

Gus wanting to be an idol brawler is actually such a funny string of words put together I’m making that a thing, if he didn’t join the Vexos he would’ve been an idol brawler

I like the Gus needs glasses hc (shoutout to @marmeladebois ‘s post on that) 

The hc of him being half human and Runo’s half brother is so good 

Cooks well but refuses to help cook fr the Vexos (unless Spectra specifically asks) --> that job is usually left to Volt

Shadow Prove

While I like the idea of her being from a military family, I want to make her like Ling Wen (TGCF) in the sense she started from the bottom and climbed to the top... it fits her ambitious nature of grasping for more, she hasn’t reached what she considers the top just yet... 

[very Ling Wen specific but Mylene being put in jail fr crimes unknown to me and being recruited  by Hydron bcs she kicked serious ass is an entertaining thought] 

I like to think she’s closest to Shadow due to the fact he kind of forces his presence onto her so... not her choice in that matter. “annoying” to “endearingly annoying, you still aren’t getting special treatment though”

Ofc Volt and Lync are on the same level, but I think they all know when to give each other space so they’re more of a “we hold each other at a distance, but we’re aware of out closeness which is enough for us”

Then its Spectra and then Gus in the “closest to Mylene” scale; she just straight up hates Gus and it’s mutual

whoever made the “Mylene and Spectra were exes” hc I think it’s really funny so I’m adding it here 

terrible fashion, she’s the one who chose the outfits when she and Shadow went to earth; her fashionable armor look she usually has was designed with Volt’s help, she just voiced what she generally wanted 

Her red lipstick look was bcs she thought it’d make her look more serious/ intimidating (Volt and Lync approved, it rlly does work on her)

Shadow matches w/ her (via his red nails) after they get teamed up tgt several times bcs he thinks they’re basically the go-to duo matchup whenever they’re assigned work n it’d be cool

Very forthcoming about the fact she used to be considered a criminal and was from same rundown area Volt and Lync come from

She’s grateful she got out of jail but she still has no respect for Hydron and despite how much she tries to hide it she does make it pretty clear to him she doesn’t really like him

I wish I had more to say about her... but It’s all relationship esque, i think in general she’s enjoyable and good so what I want more out of her is character dynamics
