I was there, I remember it all too well
"Rio, welcome to the acoustic section of the Eras Tour! So, it’s a tradition that I’ve started on this tour, and I really wanted to challenge myself to play two songs, one on guitar, one on piano every night, and I really wanted to try to play as many songs that I haven’t played live, or played acoustically, or played live in a long time, to try to switch things up, keep me on my toes, keep you on your toes. So, that’s what I’ve been doing, and I’ve been working my way through pretty much every song I’ve ever made. And it’s been really, really fun, and some of my favorite parts of the night. I just wanted to say, in Brazil, you guys were incredibly supportive of the Lover album, and we had made plans to come and play it for you here, but we had to wait til now, so I guess I’ll just be like…"

hi jaime! in honor of 1989 tv dropping this week, i wondered if you had any interviews from the 1989 era that are particular favorites or ones you want to share?
hello! this is such a fun project and i am absolutely happy to share some great ones. as we all know, taylor did an absolutely absurd amount of press during 1989, so there are surely some good ones that i missed, but this is a good list that i think mixes really popular ones with some lesser-known favorites. i put it below a cut so it isn't too long, and also included dates in the list when they were available. ultimate favorites are in italics. and if anyone has others to recommend, let me know! i kind of went overboard but i hope you guys have fun

Sarah, as someone who has (I believe) a background in dance, how would you respond to someone when they make the statement that Taylor can't dance? And yes, the recent article in the NYT by a person described as a dance critic is what's prompting me to ask you this. Thank you.
Hi! Lol. Just read that article. There are a lot of layers going on in that piece that just imo seem wildly unnecessary.
I guess we should start with the obvious in that Taylor has never defined herself as a dancer and dance choreography is not a main selling point in her repertoire as an entertainer and it never has been. She puts on a show and entertains in other, theatrical ways but extensive, intricate dance breakdowns are not central to Taylor's stage presence. She certainly partakes in dance numbers and lest we forget that the concept of "choreography" extends beyond just dance breakdowns etc - this term captures any and all planned movement during the show. Which is to say everything. Her running across the stage during "august" is choreography. The ass slap in "LWYMMD" is choreography. All of this movement is orchestrated and planned to time in with other, key elements of the show. So let us distinguish that.
Secondly, it's hilariously unfair and supremely misses the point for the author to note the extensive physical exertion required of the Eras Tour and then caveats it by saying, "But Taylor isn't a good dancer." Again, see previous para. That was never what sold the tickets in the first place - nor does it cancel out the fact that the athletic prowess and stamina needed to put on the Eras Tour is not mutually exclusive to how much she partakes in dance moves.
It's just such a weird, nothing argument to make?
Taylor has participated in dance choreography because it's this insane added extra order to the already sky high expectations for a female performer that she must not only a) Sing live b) Look beautiful c) Wear heels d) Wear fantastic outfits. They must also e) Dance and f) Do not sweat or look like you are trying while doing any of the above. We want our women to do all of these things and also not look like human beings or exhibit any gross mundane human traits like breathing too hard or sweating.
The conversation of "can Taylor Swift dance" is not the question we should be asking ourselves because it's irrelevant. The question should be, "why are the expectations for women so insufferably, unrealistically high when their male counterparts are just expected to show up, showering optional"
