I am editing this entirely as when I wrote it I was basically having a breakdown and as such put a little too much personal information. Here's a summary of this whole clusterfuck of a vent post as I still want to get it out of my systems.

I am an aro ace atheist who doesn't like kids. When a relative started having kids my family got baby fever and pressured me to get married and have kids because it's god's will and all that. It didn't matter that I was a young teenager who was still figuring herself out, I had a fertile uterus and that was all that mattered.

As a result I gained a fear of kids born out of fear of what they represented to me. This was worsened to hatred by the way my family would force me to interact with my relative's kids which would lead to panic attacks and nightmares. My family would laugh it off, constantly telling me I would change my mind when I had one of my own.

I understand that kids are human beings and that I should be blaming the parents. Unfortunately my lizard brain identified children as the most direct and physical threat since my family is already identified as safety. So I hate kids for what they represent to me. Yes, I am struggling with the realization that my family is not always the best thing for me. No, I have not gotten therapy for it yet.

I do not hurt kids nor do I go out of my way to be mean to them. I leave the general area when one appears and don't purposefully interact with them. When they touch me I quickly tap them to startle them into moving away from as I don't like being touched in general, especially by those who won't take no for an answer. Yes kids are in that category because their parents usually let them do whatever they want even if the stranger or family didn't give consent to being touched.

Again, I do not like kids but I am not cruel to them either. I am childfree because I'm aro ace and my preferred lifestyle would not be conductive for raising a child. The hatred of children came from the parents who try to force them upon me. I also hate the fact I hate children. It is not their fault as they don't understand that their parents are not the best people.

So if you say I'm a horrible person for hating children, look at the parents, the people with kids, who made me that way. I am not cruel but even diamonds can crack under enough pressure.

If I see under a Macbeth video another friggin comment written by some kids or teenager who just mock the whole thing out of sheer bitterness for their schoolwork, proudly proclaim they only came here because of a class they are being taught, or complain that their teacher made them lose precious minutes of their life they’ll never gain back - if I see one more of those comments under ANY kind of Macbeth video, under ANY scene or passage of Macbeth, no matter WHAT adaptation it is (well... unless it is one of those really bad ones), I will explode.

i feel like a lot of the 'i hate kids' crowd would be more tolerant if they understood that due to a kid's limited experience of the world that 4 hour flight might just be the longest they've ever had to sit still for or that trapped finger might literally be the most pain they've ever felt in their short life or they might not have ever seen a person with pink hair ever so of course they want to touch it or nobody's told them yet that they can't run around the museum and they only just learned cheetahs are the fastest animals so of course they want to put that to the test. how were they supposed to know etc etc.

not to sound like a boomer, but I need some people to learn how to write emails in a semi-professional (at the very least) format so you're not cold emailing a business/potential employer/any other stranger about formal matters in the exact same way you'd DM a close friend on instagram

the formality/language can loosen up in the email chain once you've established a rapport and you match the other person if they're being less formal, but please don't have the very first email you send a stranger be written in all lowercase ultra-casual sms slang with no greeting or signature and a billion emojis

when i was younger, i hated pink. i was not like other girls. this is now something i'm embarrassed of - this was not me being a "girl's girl."

but it was expressing something many of us felt at the time: i literally wasn't what girlhood was supposed to be. this is a hard thing to explain, but you know when you're not performing girlhood correctly. it isn't as easy as "i liked x when girls liked y" - because there were other girls that liked x, too - but i never figured out exactly the correct way to like x, or to be interested in y.

now there is the divine feminine. this is the same rhetoric it has always been: women are biologically driven to like pink and ribbons and submitting to our husbands.

the problem is that the patriarchy found a better PR team. because yes, actually, i want every woman to have the choice to be a homemaker. i also want her taken seriously for her legitimate home-making labor. i want her to be recognized as also having a job, just unpaid. i want men to have this opportunity, too.

but it is no longer "i made this choice and I love it." instead it is a sixteen-paragraph rant about how selfish it is that my generation isn't having kids. instead it's long videos about how if you feed your children processed foods, you're going to kill them. instead it is "this is what womanhood is supposed to be. i feel bad for any other choices you're making."

the shame spiral is just prettier. it is large houses devoid of personality. it is the implication: if you don't have this, you aren't happy. the solid, everlasting assurance: women are actually supposed to be submitting. this is the default. this is the natural state of things. all other attempts inflict suffering.

but you can no longer say i'm not like other girls. you can no longer reject this image completely. you cannot find it revolting, even if you know that the underbelly is toxic and festering. sure, it is the same repackaged patriarchy. but the internet does not have shades of grey. you should support and reward other women! your disgust is actually internalized misogyny. not because you are seeing a vision of yourself the way they're trying to train you to be. not because you feel her ghost pass within an inch of your earlobe. not because your father will eventually ask you - why can't you be like her?

because they figured out how to make it beautiful: women will sell other women on this idea, and we will find the singular loophole in feminism. sure, she's shaming you in most of her videos. sure, she implies that a different life is obscene. but she just wants you to be happy! you'd be happier if you were listening!

and the whole time you're sitting there thinking: i'd actually just be happier if i had that kind of money.
