Hi, who is speculated to be cast for nettles? And where are people finding out casting rumors? I'll be so upset if they race change her I seriously hope it's not true
Lol her name is Rhianne Barreto. She followed some of the HOTD cast and I believe some of them followed her. People are saying she’s Nettles because she’s tan(and yes I say tan because she’s barely even non-white and she’s most certainly not black)🤦🏽♀️ I’m not joking, someone saw her photo on twitter under the speculation and went “Nettles😍”🤦🏽♀️🤬As if Nettles isn’t described and shown to be Black in the official art and the lore video back in 2016:
So that’s how this has started. People assuming sh!t and saying this tan woman(no disrespect to her but she’s not a brown skinned black woman which Netty is) is Nettles🤦🏽♀️Never mind the fact that she very well could be Sara Snow(which she better f*cking be Ryan Condal/HBO). Nope has to be Nettles. We can’t let you silly negros have everything ☺️
Honestly I’m be surprised the way fans are trying to twist things and if HBO does actually try to race bend the only in canon Black character for “diversity”
Some fans have been saying for months that they want Nettles to be Asian because they made the Velaryon’s Black(they also made Mysaria Asian, but yeah let’s focus on Black people)🤦🏽♀️ Like yeah I’m all for diversity, but not at the expense of taking away roles from the hands of actual Black people. Asian people and Black people do not have the same experiences. We are not the same.
This is just as bad as if they made Nettles white. As Black people, particularly Black women, we get so few positive representation in the media and you want to take that away? Nope. This isn’t f*cking cool or cute. I am not here for it and will not be supporting the show.
HOTD already has been shown to be anti-Black. They turned the Velaryon’s Black and gave them the shittest story’s particularly Laena. in the books is a white woman who is loved by her husband. She dies from childbirth complications not from lighting herself on fire. I do not care how you f*cking spin it, that scene was not empowering. That was traumatizing. Her whole arc was a joke. You turned a loved woman into a sad neglected wife who lits herself on fire because her husband doesn’t love her when you made her blackish.
If this woman is Nettles(for your sake HBO I hope she’s Sara cause you won’t get away with this without backlash) then this is the final nail on the coffin. Honestly this move would be less about diversity and more about not having a black woman being shown in a loving relationship. That’s really what this is about. This actress is a more socially acceptable(model minority myth) than if she was kept as her brown skinned Black self.
I can’t in good conscience support a show that perpetuates misogynoir. I hope this actress is playing Sara Snow and I’m just overreacting, but if not, prepare to be dragged HBO🤷🏽♀️ Don’t think you’ll be able to get away with this.
#the speculation is on twitter🤦🏽♀️#nettles#hotd ask#anti blackness#I’m ranting#but it needs to be said#bring in a black nettles hbo#not whatever potential ‘diversity’ truck you are trying to f*cking pull#hotd#house of the dragon

Hey Huey zoomer, I had to get my meds. About the mess that is my generation
Tbh well…look how late Gen x and millenials in media act like? Hello the society of magic negroes?
“The most dangerous animal on the planet is white people!”- well does the Jews run the world too?
And not a funny joke, especially since the movie said that a black guy wanting to get with a white girl is going to destroy their magic
Isn’t that what the term, ESPECIALLY racist?
Also the Velma show, Mindeyyyy, yes there a lot of rich annoying white boys. We can check wiki and found out that you are from a white collar family
Also your ass is handling one of the most famous kids cartoon in history
That privilege right there
But back to “royal zoomers” i remember a screenshot pointing out that a lot of people were tolerated and not raised. They were thrown in front of the tv
And this happens to my generation, for some goddamn reason a lot of Gen x decided to throw the tablets at their kids to shut them up and not raised
And who they got their personalities from? Toxic millennials and Gen x who think white men are the root of all evil and such.
So when you have zoomers thinking that millennials and Gen x who still have unresolved parental issues into their goddamn late 20’s-40’s controlling media
WE HAD A FUCKING MOVIE LIONIZING THE DAHOMEY
Yeah my generation need to be held responsible for their actions…but they are told by Gen x and millennials who treated fictional characters like real people and real people like shit. That their shitty behavior is a okay
I’m an autistic abuser survivor that was abused by my white stepmom. And even at 13 I knew racism against white people was bad.
Oh right right that bitch is a millennial too…let just a whole bunch of late gen z and alpha gen are going to point out that current society enable their late gen x and millennials female relatives toxic af behaviors
Especially boys, like holy FUCK don’t be surprised how many men in the upcoming decades are weary af around women
Sorry for this essay, make sense?
Glad you got your meds, that's good news right there.
Magical Negros movie thing kinda dropped off the map from what I could see, which is good because it's not something we need out and about right now.
Looks like it's coming out to wide release in March so discourse will likely resume, sad.
As for Velma I think mindy kaling figured out it was garbage while she was making it but also realized it's a carer killer to admit that out loud so the shift to 'call them racist' happened and then quality is irrelevant so she just kept going.
Wild how we went from promoting tolerance to forcing people to adhere to specific dogmas.
Don't like the show, you don't watch it since it's made for people who will enjoy it, live and let live, and now we're here with opinion pieces telling us not liking it is a terrible thing somehow.
So when you have zoomers thinking that millennials and Gen x who still have unresolved parental issues into their goddamn late 20’s-40’s controlling media
I think it's still boomers at the top making the big decisions, but the crossover is happening, people on screen ya it's gonna be gen x and millennials.
Gen-X doesn't really have the parental issues though we're fairly self reliant, call it a positive or negative of the 'latchkey kid' life however you like, 2 income families were a newer thing and they didn't know what to do with us so we worked it out on our own.
Uber boomer sounding rant I'll put under a cut that actually is fairly accurate.
WE HAD A FUCKING MOVIE LIONIZING THE DAHOMEY
Still funny, not sure what the point of doing that particular movie was but if it was to showcase strong black women, yes it did that but it also forced a reckoning for people that have been dismissing any accountability for the various African kingdoms that captured, catalouged, and sold the slaves
related tangent, was waiting for one of these asks of yours to pop in because I've got a nice link for you that I've been holding on to for ya.
Great African Kingdoms
This collection presents a small sampling of the many great African kingdoms that rose and fell from the ancient period when Punt traded with Egypt up through the common era. Each kingdom developed a distinct culture and corresponding art and religious belief that continues to influence people around the world in the present day.
Went through a few of the articles linked in there, interesting stuff and it's not just different kingdoms either despite the title of the page.
Carrying on
Yeah my generation need to be held responsible for their actions…but they are told by Gen x and millennials who treated fictional characters like real people and real people like shit. That their shitty behavior is a okay
I blame a lot of that one the early gen-x who birthed the early millennials, tail end boomers early gen-x gave us the participation trophy.
I’m an autistic abuser survivor that was abused by my white stepmom. And even at 13 I knew racism against white people was bad.
Puts you leagues ahead of loads of people who have trouble with that concept. Very positive knowledge to have.
Especially boys, like holy FUCK don’t be surprised how many men in the upcoming decades are weary af around women
We're there already, it's looking like it may get worse though, sadly. The ideological divide between men and women is getting weird too I didn't expect the left right thing to go the way it has, it's a push back on the various abuses of the system that have happened though I'd guess.
Sorry for this essay, make sense?
little jankey but I got it fine since that's how my brain do too.
Again, glad you got your meds and are taking them that's a very good thing, another Gen-X thing we still have the stigma associated with "Prozac Nation" sitting in the backs of our heads no matter what we try to bash in to the normal bit.
Hope you enjoy the African Kingdom links and now it's a boomerish Gen-X rant under the cut time.
that last line is cringe, lol

The American Society of Magical Negroes.
What I expected? A satirical comedy, with humor similar to Abbot Elementary, making fun of the magical negro trope in film and television. Jordan and Key would have been perfect for this. There are so many ways they could have gone with this to subvert the idea of the magical negro.
What I got? A movie that reinforces (and even seems to glorify) every single trope. The jokes don’t even land like jokes. Again, it sounds like it’s actually encouraging the behavior. The main character just goes along with being some white boy’s negro fairy god brother. “Oh white people get really dangerous when they’re angry, so we have to make sure we keep them happy and comfortable. ” The fuck?? Like do you hear the message they tryna send?! Oh no don’t fight for your right as a human being, just keep your oppressor happy and you’ll be fine 👍🏽
And the ONLY thing that makes him not want to do it anymore? Not for his dignity. Not cause he realizes he shouldn’t have to move through the world like that, cause his happiness and comfortability matters too. Not cause…you know, racism. No, the only thing? The love of a white girl. Of course the love of a white girl will make him compete with this white man. The love of a white girl will make him no longer want to be the magical negro. The love of a white girl will make him realize he matters too. White savior. Check. On top of all that, the “society” is pretty much all brown skin complexions, but the main character is a light skin biracial boy? 🧐 come oooooooon!
Who the fuck yall make this movie for? Cause it wasn’t us. And I’m disappointed in all the black actors who subjected themselves to being in this trash, because some of them I actually do like, including the lead. Loved him in detective pikachu. And of course, David Alan Greir is an underrated legend. So I’m pissed.
In fact, I just looked up the director and writer of the movie:
You know who he remind me of?
Sunken place ass nigga.
This probably his life story. 😒

What do I need to do?
Alright, stop giving stupid signs, you bitch ass presidents. Don’t have dealings with me. Oh, you see my goatee and would rather the mustache.
I told you, good sir, these women don’t like me or what I am about.. they don’t like my walk, my stance, my teachings, my ways. They don’t like me, but they want money. “SHE CAN DO IT”, and you really would lust after a negro, who is so bad, with his crew, they give me mania and hives. Literally. My arm is BUBBLING UP, so much stress, I’m getting nose bleeds, bumps on my cheeks don’t clear up until I depart from those wicked negroes.
These women, I’ve tried, they don’t like what I promote, what I advocate for, who I speak up for, what I do. They would know me, to rather strangers.. I move on, they and the strangers aren’t so hot and they made a mistake.
That’s awful, no one told me I made a mistake when I was posting up and I didn’t want to.. no one. Now, I’m telling you and you are sorry. I thought, and I fathomed. Police encounter? Imagine a police engaging you, and he hurts you. Medical gauze cost money, medicine, and the like.. it all causes money. Your shoot a guy in the back, he’s in the hospital getting treatment, police said freeze and dude ran.
What is your mistake, you are shot in the back.. because there are cameras, I’m to make a hospice for you? What if I say the n-word? Suppress all I worked for for you, you would rather a dog, and all I worked for is just you having food on the table, family, and friends. Well, what did you do when I said to a woman, “do the necessary”, just for me to say I’ll break her nose if she disrespects me? You are grotesque.
Imagine idiots, laymen, just watching me, and idiots are looking at a quiz. Some idiot president. Bad speeches, and you know the workers aren’t all that good workers. Have you heard of Walmart? What is their work in manufacturing?
All these issues, a Jew wench won’t shut up about foreign countries. She was cheated, not in journalism, well she is just an echo in a cave, a bat. Grotesque woman. She had taboo and got a haircut, she isn’t a black woman with a perm, sick woman. Many would see the practical joke, the quiz, and she would rather enable Elon Musk than me. I get rich, she is a whore in spite and envy and people hate me. I can’t hurt these people, I can’t sue them, even if I make disposition against them.. they aren’t removed.
I don’t know what to do. Honest. It isn’t tyranny, it’s weakness. I tell these idiots to stop watching my public and private life to stop talking cant.. and they don’t. You won’t get on social media to critic them like me. You are for me? Talk Israel, Hamas, and I did before you. You are tardy. Go smoke.
They just keep taunting me, they mess up my money, career, always, to get litigated, you don’t do anything but show I am better than Obama. He and Joe share the same speech writer. Why would I get with a wench, these gentlemen are taunting me.. I’m doing all I can to hurt them. A weird people, you don’t watch TV? If you aren’t going to pay me, stop talking subliminal about what I say, what I do, who I talk to, and have no parts with me, a disgusting people, cancers. I’ve written enough, done enough, you just aren’t capable. Really. Learn it. Your smile? See gentry is totally better than you, and I’m not enabling some prominent fuck to get equality with community that made me be like this. Clear?

Editor’s note: The following article is an op-ed and the views expressed are the author’s own. Read more opinions on theGrio.
“How come ain’t no Black people performing in this hotel,” Chris Tucker asked in 2001’s “Rush Hour 2.” When the casino manager told him Lionel Richie was performing that evening, Tucker loudly replied, “Lionel Richie ain’t been Black since the Commodores, man!”
While the scene was for laughs, as always, there’s truth in jest. This joke about Richie leaving the Black, funky confines of his hitmaking band from Tuskegee, Ala., to entertain the masses with the pop sound of his solo work has circulated in Black households for decades. It’s a microcosm of the ideal that when Black artists go pop, they are sellouts.
“I just want our young entertainers to stay Black, stay who you are. Don’t want to go over there and be pop,” Mills told theGrio. “Stay true to your music. That’s very important. Don’t sell out. Don’t sell out because we don’t want you when you sell out. You keep your ass over there. Don’t come back over here.”
Mills’ sentiment echoes many others. Pop music has a history of sanitizing Black genres for the consumption of white consumers for centuries. However, what complicates things is that contemporary pop music sounds the way it does because of the innovation of Black artists.
When a Black artist makes pop music, are they selling out or reappropriating something taken from them?
The Black community’s resentment of pop music stems from various reasons. Pop music, or popular music, in and out itself, exists because of minstrelsy. White singers and performers would dress up in Blackface, performing as extreme caricatures of Black Americans and enslaved people during the 1800s. Jim Crow, the shorthand for the systematically racist laws in the nation, was a creation of Thomas Dartmouth Rice, a white actor who crafted him in minstrel performance as a stereotypical depiction of a poor Black man.
From there, songs written and performed during minstrelsy became among the first “pop songs,” like “Turkey in the Straw” (used as ice cream truck jingles), “Dixie Land,” and later, “Oh Suzanna.” Following the end of the Civil War, minstrelsy got so popular that Black performers joined in, like the Georgia Minstrels.
Throughout history, white record label owners, producers and gatekeepers have engaged in a cycle when it comes to Black music genres. In order, they condemn it, co-opt it, homogenize it, commodify it, then mass produce it until the genre becomes the property of the white performers. This is true with rock, jazz, disco and others.
With this knowledge, it’s no wonder why so many Black people denounce pop music when it comes from one of their own. Black genres like gospel, blues, dancehall, bebop, boogie-woogie and so on possess a spirit of longing, poignancy and exuberance that distinguish the lyrics and the vocal and instrumental attack from any other music. The problem is that over time, white artists either see this pure Black expression and recreate it as a farce or fascination.
Women like Big Mama Thornton, Hazel Scott and Sister Rosetta Tharpe were the pacesetters for white artists who recorded rock and roll and popularized it for a mass audience. Sam Phillips, Sun Records founder, infamously said, “If I could find a white man who had the Negro sound and the Negro feel, I could make a billion dollars!” He produced artists like Elvis Presley and Jerry Lewis, who reinterpreted jump blues to make the kind of rock and roll they were associated with. (Sam Phillips biographer Peter Guralnick wrote that his quote was taken out of context, but the biography is titled “The Man Who Invented Rock & Roll,” so … )
But this is where the complexities come into play.
Like rock and roll, pop music is often used as a catch-all term to describe the most famous music at the time. It doesn’t necessarily mean it’s pop. In the 1990s, numerous R&B artists could crossover into the pop charts without diminishing the essence of their Blackness or sound.
On the flip side, you have The Weeknd. He emerged in 2011 as a mysterious singer-songwriter whose ominous, atmospheric sound was dripping with R&B trademarks. However, by 2015, he began collaborating with Max Martin, the Swedish songwriter behind pop hits like Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way” and Britney Spears’ “…Baby One More Time.”
Some could argue that for The Weeknd, who was already making Black music, to team up with a man who made songs that were sanitized versions of Black music, it had to be only to gain favor with white consumers. Indeed, The Weeknd earned his greatest success with Martin on songs like “Can’t Feel My Face” and “Blinding Lights,” but his muse was actually a Black man named Michael Jackson.
The Weeknd has always been upfront about Jackson being an inspiring agent for him, from covering his hit “Dirty Diana” to giving homage to “Billie Jean” in his video for “Sacrifice” and recording much of his latest album, “Dawn FM,” at Westlake Audio, the studio where Jackson and producer Quincy Jones recorded landmark pop albums “Off the Wall,” “Thriller” and “Bad.”
Jackson, who is known as the King of Pop, achieved this reputation because he and Jones were able to organically synthesize various Black genres and present them in a way that was both authentic to Blacks and digestible for whites. This illustrates that much of the Black troupes found in pop music are innovations of Black artists.
Much of what makes pop music so infectious to so many are elements that stem from Black things: swing, syncopation and improvisation. Ragtime godfather Scott Joplin, jump blues icon Louis Jordan and trumpeter Louis Armstrong were among those who introduced the elements mentioned above that were incorporated into popular music practiced by whites.
Pop music is both a catch-all for any popular music to the masses and a stand-alone genre with sonic signatures. Those signatures incorporate Black innovations of swing, syncopation and improvisation; another signature also removes much of the depth and spirit in the Black genres it borrowed from.
The ultimate irony is that the Black community gets angry when Black artists like Tharpe, Thornton, and Jordan don’t reap the economic benefits for innovating a sound that white artists do after they co-opt it, but the community gets skeptical anytime a Black artist like Richie or Whitney Houston is loved so hard by a white audience.
If a Black artist is making that kind of music to gain a white audience, it’s understandable that they would be deemed a sellout. But considering everything that whites have taken from Blacks, aren’t we due to claim something of theirs for our own?
#Are Black artists sellouts when they go pop or are they taking back something that was stolen?#pop music#Black Musicians#Black Pop artists#Michael Jackson#Black Music Month#2023#ausetkmt

Do you think Tessa Thompson and Ruth negga were odd choices for passing given that neither of them pass as white?
Thanks for the question!! Sorry for the delay I wanted to go back through the book and get direct quotes for my response.
The answer to this is multi-layered. There is so much that can be said on this topic, but I don’t want to write an entire essay; I hope my response doesn’t come off as clunky or incomplete.
On the surface neither of them pass as white to me. But, their characters aren’t really meant to pass perfectly as WASP (White Anglo-Saxon Protestants or WASPs are the white American Protestant elite, typically of British descent.) women.
I think the actresses fit the descriptions from the book.
Clare (Played by Ruth Negga)
Has bright hair/pale gold hair, is catlike, and has black eyes. Her husband calls her ‘Nig’ as a pet name, because her skin isn’t as lily white as it was when they first meet. He teases her about her skin getting darker and jokes that one day she’ll wake up Black.
Clare’s skin is what makes her passing not completely perfect. Her facial features and blond hair cover over those though. I think Ruth Negga fits this.
Irene (Played by Tessa Thompson)
Has skin described as olive colored and pale beige-colored. Her hair is black and her eyes are brown. Irene also isn’t described in the book as passing as a blonde hair and blue eyed, WASP woman. Irene is often mistaken for an “ethnic” white. As the book states, “They always took her for an Italian, a Spaniard, a Mexican, or a (Romani). Never, when she was alone, had they even remotely seemed to suspect that she was Negro.”
I feel that Tessa fits the part a little less than Ruth. While I could imagine Ruth passing in this way, I could not image a person with Tessa’s facial features being taken for Italian or Spaniard. However, the average white American in the 1920s had minimal exposure to the Romani people and often saw Italians, Spaniards, and Mexicans as white but not white like them. Remember their features had to pass the white gaze not the black gaze. Because of this her features paired with her light skin are seen as exotic/nonBlack when she’s alone and Black when she’s around other Black people with similar facial features.
That line crossing, questioning, and flexibility of how race is perceived is a part of Nella Larsen’s writing. To those that haven’t read Passing (1929). The book is a quick read at only 95 pages, so give it a read if you want more insight into the characters and story.
TLDR: I’m fine with the casting. Both are amazing actresses that fit the physical descriptions of the characters from the text. Ruth/Clare as a tanned white woman but not completely passing and Tessa/Irene as a situational passer who doesn’t look WASP, but does looks non-Black to some people. That questioning of pass-ability is part of the book’s theme (especially for Black/mixed readers).

I love watching people bend over backwards to defend slurs
@nachosforfree
This isn’t hate or anything! I love ur art and ur personlity. Your gender euphoria is an inspo.
She has changed. And people want to call her edgy sense of humor “ableism.” They need to chill. If they want to get technical then “mental retardation” has a different medical term. Many slurs are being reclaimed and being turned into well...not slurs. Also “retarded” means “slow” in French. I literally got on someone for using it and was educated. She is a frikkin doctor. She frikkin works with that stuff. Also, EDGY humor is not meant to be taken seriously.
Again, no hate, but it just bothers me when people think edgy jokes are wrong? Slurs are wrong if they’re SERIOUS.
#mental retardation IS a medical term#that’s where the slur came from. like saying homosexual is a term but then going ‘it’s ok to call someone a homo tho’#THIS SLUR IS NOT BEING RECLAIMED#AND YESWSLURS ARE BEING RECLAIMED#ITS STILL NOT OK TO SAY THE N WORD#ITS STILL NOT OK TO CALL SOMEONE THE F WORD#stop using that as an excuse because that what it is. you really really want to say a slur and ur bending over backwards to be able to say I#it and the ‘reclaiming’ thing where minorities call people in the Same minority a slur because they have to deal with constant prejudice#ur not trying to help. ur not doing anything except going ‘oh people are reclaiming a slur? so it’s ok to say it now? sweet!!’#the r slur is a synonym for slur in English dumbass#it was turned into one and became normal just like the n word was normal and the f word was normal#and even with all that it’s still based off of ‘mental retardation’ is still connected and guess what!! ur using a medical term#one that is diagnosed to people on the regular#AS AN INSULT!!#yes en retard is slow in French#but Thats fucking french dont use it in English#NEGRO IS BLACK IN SPANISH#almost as if languages are connected hmmmmmmmmm#she is a doctor is she a person with mental retardation? does she have mental illness at all? WORKING with people with it does not make you#an expert on a SLUR. that has to do with prejudice and a doctor can tell you all about what mental retardation is but now what it’s like to#be a person with mental illness everyday and to experience that prejudice#ALL SLURS ARE SERIOUS! it’s not a joke! never is! even *haha you’re a ni- just kidding!! :D’ is not a joke#It’s not funny bro!! those a slurs and they hurt! they literally hurt to hear and someone close to you or someone you trust using it as a jo#joke when it’s meant to be an insult against a specific part of you that you can’t help is SHITYY!#even if your one friend says ‘yeah you can use it’ don’t. I don’t like getting called the n word neither do most of the black people i know!#just use it with that person or not at all! it’s uncomfortable to hear because it’s a description of a minority being used as a insult!!#that’s a slur!! that’s exactly what the r word is!!#‘many slurs’ you don’t know shit u just heard it and didn’t bother to research huh#u just heard ‘hey u can say slurs now’ and went for it#as many slurs as you can (shouldn’t) use now there’s way more that you still can’t

————
"Sí. Bueno, lo retomaré más tarde. Gracias," you hung up the phone, setting it down with a smile on your face.
["Yes. Okay, I will pick it up later. Thank you."]
"Hey, who was that?" Stefan come over to you, wrapping his arm around your waist.
"That was Lucas's friend. He was able to get the cake and the cupcakes made early!" You squealed, jumping up and down in his arms.
"Oh, that's awesome! Looks like Caroline won't be bugging you anymore," Stefan chuckled.
"Oh, I know. Man, am I happy to finally get this party planning over with," you sighed, turning around and leaning against the counter.
You smiled as you came face-to-face with your boyfriend. You hung your arms around his neck lazily, twirling the hair on the nape of his neck with your first fingers.
"Tired?" Stefan raised a brow, settings hands on your hips.
"Exhausted. And to think the actual party is tonight," you chuckled. "Well, that's the easiest part, right?" Stefan asked.
"Yeah, watching over twenty-to-twenty five eleven years olds is easy," you rolled your eyes.
"You'll have help. Caroline, me, Bonnie, Ric, Elena, Matt. Even Damon has volunteered to watch them!"
"Or lure them in a back corner and fed on them," you scoffed. "Hey, Damon's a lot of things, but he is not a child-blood-sucker," Stefan defended.
"Awe, you're defending him. How cute," you booped his nose.
"Yeah, yeah, I know. We are goals. Or whatever the kids are saying these days."
You giggled at his words, turning back around as you heard the front door open. You looked to see Caroline, Bonnie, and Elena carrying the twins, a bunch of presents, and at least five boxes of pizza.
"Damn. I wish you guys bought me this many presents!" You exclaimed.
"Oh, shut up. We give you a bottle of champagne and you're already over the moon," Elena snickered.
"Well, what can I say? I'm a simple gal," you grinned.
"Hey, Stef, can you help, please? Put these next to the window sill," Bonnie ordered as she was carrying most of the presents.
"Yeah, of course," Stefan nodded. He ran over to her with his vampire speed, picking up the presents at lightening speed and laying them out in towers.
"Thank you," Bonnie sighed. "Yeah, no problem. Hey, why didn't you just use your magic to carry them in?" Stefan asked.
"I need to save my energy for the kids," Bonnie explained.
"Whoa, Whoa, Whoa. I didn't know we were letting the world know our secret," you frowned.
"We aren't! They're just a bunch of kids. Plus, we can just compel them to forget. Josie and Lizzie really want to show them tricks, too," Caroline bounced the twins in her arms.
You looked to the two girls who were giggling and smiling. You sighed, "Fine. Anyways, guess who was able to get the cake and the cupcakes."
"Oh, my God! You?" Caroline gasped. "Yep. Call me Santa Claus 'cause I just delivered!" You grinned.
Elena, Bonnie, and Stefan cringed at your joke.
"Not your best work, Y/n," Elena shook her head.
"What! Hey, that was pretty good," you frowned. "You'll get 'em next time, babe," Stefan smiled, going over to you and patting you on the back.
"Okay, you guys are just jealous because you're not as funny as me," you scoffed.
"Oh, yeah, we're jealous all right," Bonnie smirked.
You opened your mouth to retort back, but your phone started ringing. You looked at the Caller ID, seeing that it was your brother, Lucas. You gave them all a death glare, picking up your phone and going into the other room.
"Hey, amigo, what's up?" You asked.
"Uh, bad news, chica," Lucas sighed. "Oh?" You raised a brow.
"Yeah, turns out that Darryl can't make the cake or the cupcakes today."
You opened your mouth to speak, but nothing came out. Your eyes were wide as saucers as you thought of what to say.
"Y/n? Please say something," Luca begged.
You turned your head, your face screwing up in guilt and anger as you saw Lizzie and Josie playing with Bonnie and Stefan. You turned back and focused on the conversation you were having with you very trusting brother.
"¿Qué quiere decir Darryl no puede hacer el pastel o cupcakes?"
[What do you mean darryl can't make the cake or cupcakes?"]
"I mean that he can't make them. Do I need to explain to you what those words mean? And why are you speaking in Spanish? Afraid someone will —"
"En realidad, lo soy, Lucas. Dios, eres tan poco confiable. ¡Y ese amigo tuyo! Espera, ¿podría recuperar mi dinero?"
["Actually, I am, Lucas. God, you are so unreliable. And that friend of yours! Wait, am I going to be able to get my money back?"]
"Um… probably not. But it's okay, I'll pay you back!"
"Ah, ¿cuándo? ¿Después de sacar dinero del fondo universitario de su hijo? ¿O se lo van a pedir a mamá y papá esta vez?"
["Oh, when? After you take out money from your child's college fund? Or are you going to ask mom and dad for it this time?"]
"Hey, don't blame me! Blame Darryl. All I did was hook you up with him!"
"Y probablemente sabías que era un gilipollas mentiroso y que robaba dinero. Llámame de vuelta cuando seas capaz de no mentirme, ¿sí?"
["And you probably knew that he was a lying, money-stealing asshole. Call me back when you're able to not lie to me, yeah?"]
"Wait, Y/n, I-"
You hung up the phone, throwing it on the chair next to you. You groaned quietly, the bridge of your nose burning as tears welled up in your eyes.
"¿Cómo puedes ser tan estúpido, Y/n? Confiando en él después de todo lo demás que ha hecho. Estúpido, estúpido, estúpido!"
["How can you be so stupid, Y/n? Trusting him after everything else he's done. Stupid, stupid, stupid!"]
Stefan, who was throwing up Lizzie and Josie in the air, heard your mutters in the other room. He frowned and put the girls down, promising them that he would be back in a second after checking up on you. He walked into the next room slowly, putting his arm around you lightly.
"Hey, what's wrong?"
You jumped at his voice and touch, sniffling and wiping the tears from your face. "Y-Yeah. Just some um, family stuff."
"Want to talk about it?" Stefan asked.
You sighed, turning around to him. His hand intertwined with yours, squeezing it for support.
"It's just… Lucas. He's just so… jodidamente molesto," you sighed. "Él simplemente no piensa en otras personas y las consecuencias. Quiero decir, trata de ayudar, lo que es agradable, pero siempre termina por pagar dinero a la gente, o termina por tener un ojo negro."
[“He is just so… fucking annoying. He just doesn't think about other people and the consequences. I mean, he tries to help, which is nice, but he always either ends up owing people money, or ends up having a black eye.”]
"O-Oh, yeah," Stefan nodded, his brows furrowed as he tried to understand. But you were speaking so fast and with so much anger, he barely picked up a word.
"Y como su hermana mayor, sé que probablemente se supone que voy fácil con él, pero es un hombre crecido. ¡Debe saber estas cosas! Ugh, sabía que debería haber ordenado a ellos como, Target o algo, pero el amigo de su “aparentemente” es capaz de hacer diseños realmente lindos y hacer arte fondant en tiempo récord, así que tomé mis mis oportunidades. ¿Y adivina dónde estoy ahora?"
[“And as his older sister, I know I'm probably supposed to go easy on him, but he's a grown man. He should know these things! Ugh, I knew I should've just ordered them from like, Target or something, but hsi friend "apparently" is able to do really cute designs and make fondant art in record time, so I took my chances. And guess where I am now?”]
"Right, right. Wow, I'm sorry, babe, I —"
"Ciento cincuenta dólares cortos con dos niñas que van a estar tristes cuando no consiguen su pastel de sirena barbie y cupcakes con temática de Minecraft. ¡Argh!"
["One hundred and fifty dollars short with two little girls who are going to be sad when they don't get their Barbie Mermaid cake and Minecraft-themed cupcakes. Argh!"]
You stopped your rant when you noticed Stefan looked at you with a confused expression on his face. You thought for a moment to yourself, beginning to laugh at yourself as you realised you were speaking in Spanish.
"I'm sorry, Stef. I didn't realise you couldn't understand me."
He smiled and shrugged. "No worries. At least you were able to get it all out, right?"
"A little. When I punch Lucas, I'll be able to get it all out," you grinned.
"That's my girl."

A Black American
By Smokey Robinson
I love being Black
I love being called Black
I love being an American
I love being a Black American
But as a Black man in this country I think it’s a shame
That every few years we get a change of name
Since those first ships arrived here from Africa that came across the sea
There were already Black men in this country who were free
And as for those who came over on those terrible boats
They were called "nigga" and "slave"
And told what to do and how to behave
And then master started trippin'
Doing his midnight tippin', down to the slave shacks
Where he forced he and Great-Great Grandma to be together
And if Great-Great Grandpa protested, he got tarred and feathered
And at the same time, the Black men in the country who were free
Were mating with the tribes like the Apache and the Cherokee
And as a result of all that, we’re a parade of every shade
And as this late day and age, you can be sure
They're ain't too many of us in this country whose bloodline is pure
But, according to a geological, geographical, genealogy study published in Time Magazine
The Black African people were the first on the scene
So for what it’s worth, the Black African people were the first on earth
And through migration, our characteristics started to change and rearrange
To adapt to whatever climate we migrated to
And that’s how I became me, and you became you
So, if we gonna go back, let’s go all the way back
And if Adam was Black and Eve was Black
Then that kind of makes it a natural fact that everybody in America's an African American
Everybody in Europe is an African European
Everybody in the Orient is an African Asian and so on and so on
That is, if the origin of man is what we’re gonna go on
And if one drop of Black blood makes you Black like they say
Then everybody’s Black anyway
So quit trying to change my identity
I’m already who I was meant to be
I’m a Black American, born and raised
And brother James Brown wrote a wonderful phrase
“Say it loud, I’m Black and I’m proud! Say it loud, I’m Black and I’m proud!”
'Cause I’m proud to be Black and I ain't never lived in Africa
And ’cause my Great-Great Granddaddy on my Daddy’s side did
Don’t mean I want to go back
Now I have nothing against Africa
It’s where some of the most beautiful places and people in the world are found
But I've been blessed to go a lot of places in this world
And if you ask me where I choose to live, I pick America, hands down
Now, by and by, we were called Negroes, and after while, that name was banished
Anyway, Negro is just how you say ‘black’ in Spanish
Then, we were called colored, but shit, everybody’s one color or another
And I think it’s a shame that we hold that against each other
And it seems like we reverted back to a time when being called Black was an insult
Even if it was another Black man who said it, a fight would result
'Cause we’d been so brainwashed that Black was wrong
'Til even the yellow niggas and black niggas couldn't get along
But then, came the 1960's
When we struggled and died to be called equal and Black
And we walked with pride with our heads held high and our shoulders pushed back
And Black was beautiful
But, I guess that wasn't good enough
'Cause now here they come with some other stuff
Who comes up with this shit anyway?
Was it one, or a group of niggas just sitting around one day?
Feelin' a little insecure again about being called Black and decided that African American sounded a little more exotic
Well, I think you were being a little more neurotic
It’s that same mentality that got “Amos and Andy” put off the air, 'cause they were embarrassed about the way the character’s spoke
And as a result of that action, a lot of wonderful Black actors ended up broke
When we were just laughin' and have fun about ourselves
So I say, “fuck you if you can’t take a joke.”
You didn’t see "The Beverly Hillbillies” being protested by white folks
And if you think, that cause you think, that being called African American sets all Black people’s minds at ease
Since we affectionately call each other “nigga”, I affectionately say to you
“Nigga please”
How come I didn't get the chance to vote on who I’d like to be?
Who gave you the right to make that decision for me?
I ain't under your rule or in your dominion
And I am entitled to my own opinion
Now there are some African Americans here,
But they recently moved here from places like Kenya, Ethiopia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Zaire
But, not a brother whose family has lived in the country for generations
Occupying space in all the locations
New York, Miami, L.A., Detroit, Chicago
Even if he’s wearing a dashiki and sporting an afro
And, if you go to Africa in search of your race
You’ll find out quick, you’re not an African American
You’re just a Black American in Africa, takin' up space
Why you keep trying to attach yourself to a continent
Where even if you got the chance to go and you went
Most people there would even claim you as one of them
As a pure bred daughter or son of them
Your heritage is right here now
No matter what you call yourself or what you say
And a lot of people died to make it that way
And if you think America is a leader on inequality and suffering and grievin'
How come there so many people comin' and so few leavin'?
Rather than all this ‘find fault with America’ shit you promotin'
If you want to change something, use your privilege
Get to the polls! Commence to votin'
God knows we've earned the right to be called American Americans and be free at last
And rather than you movin' forward progress, you're dwelling in the past
We've struggled too long; we've come too far
Instead of focusing on who we were, let’s be proud of who we are
We are the only people whose name is always a trend
When is this shit gonna end?
Look at all the different colors of our skin
Black is not our color, it’s our core
It’s what we been livin' and fightin' and dyin' for
But if you choose to be called African American and that’s your preference,
Then I'll give you that reference
But I know on this issue I don’t stand alone on my own
And if I do, then let me be me
And I'd appreciate it if when you see me, you'd say
“There goes a man who says it loud
I’m Black. I'm Black. I'm a Black American, and I'm proud."
Cause I love being an American
And I love being Black
I love being called Black
Yeah, I said it
And I don't take it back

You saw a post about homophobia against gay men and your first thought was “they must have done something to deserve it” and that’s horrifying
*white gay men. literally, you brought up homophobia as a joke, i explained why those jokes are being made as a form of catharsis. you screenshot multiple black ppl who were most likely gay/trans making a JOKE.
black/brown people HATE white gay people because of how oppressive y'all's presence is in this community. whenever we say "gay person" you think of a gay man, but brown/black gay people are either celebrities or anomalies. a white gay man told me he was pro-life, that i was a slut, i was a drug addict, and george Floyd deserved what happened to him. ive been called a nigger by a white trans woman and heard a white lesbian say nigga in a song. a common phrase on grindr is "no fats, no femmes, no blacks, no Asians." white gays need more accountability and if that means a couple of generalized "homophobic" jokes to get the point across that we are TIRED of being treated as second class citizens in a community we helped create. these jokes are because of how many straight black women have been PERSONALLY victimized by white gay men. white lesbians are the majority of terfs but no one ever wants to bring race into these discussions because it makes them uncomfy.
literally i have been bullied out of my high school GSA and it set me back 2 years with me coming out of the closet. we have to deal the with racism from straight people and gay people who think they're exempt from racism because they like the same gender?? fuck that i hate white gay people. i haven't ever had a white straight friend but i have had white gay friends. they make you care about them and the second you're in an argument they fall back on their whiteness and leave. the racism in the lgbt community is RAMPANT and you're fucking stupid if you don't see it. my trans best friend says she hates gay people because of how much she has been harassed by white gays about her gender presentation. you dont get to fucking microagression us to death then say "you negros are being homophobic!1!" when we vent about how we hate the climate of the lgbt community.
white gay men are white men ABOVE ALL ELSE. the second yall got rights you shut the door behind you. that's why so many white gay men are conservatives. you guys are TOOLS for white supremacy with how much you command discussions of civil rights in black/brown online and irl spaces. it's oppressive and honestly? i would rather talk politics with white straight people because at least i know they'll stab me in the back
#i dont hate white gay peopl#i have many white gay friends#but it takes me awhile to trust yall#sorry but it's out of self preservation#i dont think i want to talk about this anymore#i dont even know the original context nor do i think it matters#ask answered

Only 9 years of Anger but it’s been 30+ years of trauma.
I’m a Canadian multiracial woman who grew up in a community that was not as diverse as it is now. Since I was a little girl, I’ve encountered several instances of baffling behaviour toward me that only in hindsight did I come to understand it was because of my colour. The jokes about watermelon, dumb edgy nonblack kids who think I’ll think they’re cool if they drop the n-word around me. Some fool who everyone thought was funny in high school lead a rendition of Hero by Enrique Iglesias and replaced the word hero for “negro” as he played guitar at a Christian school camp retreat to zero consequence. I was nicknamed Aunt Jemima by older boys because I wouldn’t date them. All this stuff was background noise because my number one awareness of being a Canadian was that despite all this, I would never be treated as bad as an indigenous person would be treated in this country. So I laughed off the jokes, ignored the jabs, ignored the n-word, played the “cool black person” who let things slide because that was how you survived. I made it to my 20’s being passive and moderate, and at some juncture I realised my friend circle was occupied by people who used my colour and my race as a punchline. It was like something snapped in me after college; I stopped being passive, I wanted to learn how to be myself and be proud of my heritage instead of acting like I was some ambassador for every white person in authority who wanted me to nod and say “no no I’m okay with your opinion, so please hire me.”
In 2011, I broadened my friend group to people who had had similar experiences but hadn’t backed down, people who had a community to back them up so they didn’t cower at the idea of facing their own trauma. That’s when I started to make friends online who came from different and diverse perspectives. Starting that year I began reading first-hand accounts of police brutality cases and their large numbers. I heard about black sex workers in the states being harassed and disappearing when they complained. I heard about the way young black men are taught to keep their hands visible because even a parking ticket could get you killed. I was angry and heartbroken but I noticed that despite the fact that I was furious and cross-posting everything I learned on twitter and every other blog space I occupied, barely anyone who wasn’t black wanted to interact with it. It was like I was touting some kind of religion, asking people to believe that people in and out of this country had a disease called racism.
The few people who used their public platform to talk about it were dismissed as crazy. After Trayvon Martin, my heart just stayed broken, and then the "mysterious suicide" of Sandra Bland and the mug shot they took with her body propped up in the police station when she had already been murdered fully wrecked me because so few people cared. There was always some excuse as to why these people deserved to be murdered; as if suddenly people got amnesia about the ideal of the justice system and due process. As if people should really be all right with a young teen being shot in the street was all right because there was no one else there to see it happen or why. Soon followed a rash of different cases, and almost everyone close to me who wasn't black had some opinion about it whether that's telling us not to get too angry, to protest the way MLK jr said we should when his very own words talked about anger and pain and the way it spills out of people who only want to exist. He said unrest doesn’t develop out of thin air and that it’s the language of the unheard. I watched Colin Kaepernick get publicly ridiculed and watched white creators whisper a little about it if they weren’t against it. There was a shyness in the energy about the content I read or watched and I had somehow accepted that that would always be the case with people working with platforms online. I watched Tumblr delete a whole tag about BLM because people decided it was starting arguments. I watched white content creators make jokes about Tamir Rice, about Kaepernick until they stopped getting laughs.
It's now been 9 years later and even though 2011 was the first I had ever sat and listened to the truth about these cases and I had been furious and hurt since then, it was not the beginning of the problem and my making noise about it and trying to make people understand at the time fell on a lot of ears that didn’t want to listen. People who were experiencing the pain first-hand were screaming louder and louder until Hollywood got a nice chokehold on it and posted a print of Chris Pine with tears in his eyes and called that the face of the civil rights movement.
So now I find that I’m experiencing a strong sense of deja vu watching people younger than me, or my white peers finally get it. I see posts about it everywhere, white creators and white celebrities posting support and empathy. It feels like a sharp awakening of the world and the chance that there’s hope for all the people who have been yelling and screaming for justice long before I ever became aware of the score.
It also feels terrifying.
Because sometimes white creators don’t take stock of their audience. They see them often as a monolith of people who support and engage with their content, so they’ll post a handy instagram quote, or an edit with links to donate; they’ll post their own call to action. Now the activism is something it never was before, it’s “Cool”. BLM is trending; it’s a quick view count and an absolutely easy and performative way to say “Sorry” for all the times in the past these white creators said the n-word, all the times in the past they dismissed diversity because it was inconvenient to them, and all the times they ignored the casual racism in their own content and the transformative content of their audience. So their white kid audience, who are happy to follow them blindly to the next trend, don’t fully understand the impact of what’s happening now. They’re making their edits, they’re changing their twitter handles to ACAB and BLM, they’re performing just fine. It should be a good thing, right?
Then why are there white kids out on the street saying they’re protesting. Saying they are here to make change but they’re caught with baseball bats breaking windows, instigating confrontations and running away for black people to deal with it. Why are they out there living their favourite purge fantasy so they can go home satisfied and safe while people are being tear-gassed and trampled by police? Why do they go home and make their mood boards and their t-shirts and their etsy sales for cool “protest looks”. The tired tiktoks that are just recreated audio of black creators being spooned off so a white face can be the one saying the very thing black creators are brave enough to put on social media at the risk of getting hurt!
Don’t get me wrong. This is all necessary in the growing pains of a worldwide movement. It’s the #stopkony2012 of 2020 because even back then when the performance was on, no one was actually doing the reading. Internationally the whole internet went ham on a cause that had already been dealt with by its own victims.
What I’m basically saying here is that fighting for human rights isn’t a game; this isn’t a cool new thing you can jump in on because the chaos keeps you hidden. Take this seriously; bring this energy to the polls, and KEEP this energy for the future even when the trending page isn’t interested in giving you money for your cause, even when your friends get bored and decide that they want to move on to the next cool thing to perform activism for. Be real. Continue to practice empathy for those whose stories you ignored up until now. Non-Black content creators, your new awareness of something happening is not an absolution of your willful ignorance in the past. Do your reading; educate yourself. Because while you may be just discovering the outrage and the hurt of witnessing a black person being murdered and the pulling teeth aggravation that comes with zero justice, people have been dealing with this far longer than you or I.

quantic dream is a weird case because like the games should be amazing but they're NOT
looks good, sounds good, feels good, great voice acting (fuckin willem dafoe and elliot page and clancy brown are all excellent VAs), replayable, and the writing in all the side bits are honestly great, and everyone did a great job with them as far as digital entertainment
like until dawn and the walking dead season 1 and life is strange, it's not really "traditional" controls, there is no real game over, each game runs from beginning to end regardless of the choices you make, QTEs and exploration and puzzles and moral choices are the extent of the gameplay.
but the difference is that UD & TWD & LIS had good writers and david cage is a complete hack (and kind of a misogynist and kiiiind of a racist)
I could go into the flaws of heavy rain, omikron, indigo prophecy, beyond two souls, but I think I'd rather go into detroit becoming human.
so like. "it's not a racial allegory", right? except literally at the start of the game you're a white cop and a black servant and a female servant. the black guy is treated badly by a crowd of white people, then he gets on the segregated back of the bus where he is forced to stand up, then he's on the run from the police (and dies), then he either a) runs a pacifist resistance and sacrificing himself or b) sets fire to everything, "we have a dream" and ✊🏾 are literal choices he can make, there is a million man march, you literally have the magical ability to Press X To Liberate (where he forces the robots to go from blindly following the orders of their masters to, uh, blindly following the orders of a new master oh no yikes), and hey at least it evaded tokens because there's another black guy and... oh no he's a 'magical negro' stereotype who can and will be fridged at any moment to give Pain to the white girl. oh and the underground railroad lady LMAO. and all this blatant black civil rights activism allegory is happening to... sigh. robots.
now look, I am really heavily into the philosophy of theoretical transhumanism. star trek, mass effect, deus ex, even bethesda fallout [much as I fucking hate many aspects of fallout 3/4, I do really like the synths angle as it adds layers of intrigue and grey morality to an otherwise quite absurdly black and white system] are some of my favorite universes partly because of that. data/doctor/7of9, legion & EDI, adam jensen, nick valentine, they're all some of my favorite characters in those series. it's probably partly because as an autistic person I understand and empathize with them much more than I do the non-robot characters (and so much more than the "autistic" characters written by allistics :/ ). protag!connor is a cinnamon roll (because he says fuck the police in the third act, since the only good cop is a dead former cop... but also because I do like his character and the way he was portrayed by the actor and his contrast to hank who is the best character voiced by an actor I love, and connorXhank is the only part of DBH that I like as far as the writing goes). I should have loved detroit as much as I love the movie I, Robot. [btw if you like detroit watch it]
and yet
the problem is that it should have tried to just stay in its own lane and deal purely with the transhumanism angle, and not tried to also be racially woke. it is tasteless and blatantly racist for white people (especially the, ugh, french) to directly compare any nonblack protected class to black people in a work of fiction. my fellow autistics, my fellow queers, jews probably but I'm not even gonna touch that, and androids. all of the experiences are wildly different from the black experience especially in the US and it is not our place to compare ANY demographic in such an on-the-nose fashion. oh and don't even get me fucking STARTED on the goddamn HOLOCAUST IMAGERY AT THE ENDING. OH YEAH THE ROBOTS ARE GETTING PUT INTO CONCENTRATION CAMPS AND THEN INTO AN INCINERATOR, THAT'S TOTALLY NOT JUST AN ANALOGUE TO JEWS OR ANYTHING HA HA FUCK YOU DAVID CAGE alright that's enough.
oh and kara's story is a completely useless and tacked-on experience that depends wholly on the effects of the other characters and a plot twist that kinda renders her entire story... just. completely fucking pointless. and also because david cage loves short haired girls in perilous distress of a sexual nature.
and the cherry on top of the shit sundae is that the entire android deviants aspect is a planned obsolescence ploy by the corporations. it was programmed for the androids to have free will so it makes the old models go all murderhappy and incentivizes the people to trade in their old malfunctioning iphones for brand new sleek & shiny new ones. it was just social commentary on apple's shady business practices that also disguised itself as social commentary on post-slavery america that disguised itself as social commentary on transhumanism. and that's all his fucking games are is several layers of social commentary stacked together in a trench coat like bojack's vincent adultman pretending to be a cohesive story.
& you know how I know it's social commentary?
BECAUSE THE FUCKING GAME IS ALSO ABOUT DRUG ADDICTION
oh did you forget about that part? yeah, it's because it was handled poorly and it didn't matter and only served to get woke points.
D:BH is just a mess from a purely conceptual standpoint, and that's why it's fucking horrible.
but
but
but
if you like it then that's fine because quantic dream are a fantastic studio that produce just *chef's kiss* sublime work, given what they were working with. I put it on the same level that I put the twilight and harry potter films, because they took steaming piles of shit and made them sparkle.
...g... get it? because... because the vampires... they sparkle. that's the joke ignore me
I'm not gonna treat you badly if you like the game because I like parts of it but please please acknowledge that it's a downright mess

Spoiler-Filled Reaction to the 1st Ep of TFATWS: ‘New World Order’ ...
Okay, so I may switch up and do weekly recaps via audio. Either way, I’m getting something out before the weekend is up... Still!... It’s a been a few days, so I can go a bit more in depth with my thoughts on that pilot ep.
~ So, that opening was quiet and down-to-earth. For me, it was hammering home not only the humbleness of Sam (despite the bravado, the man is naive in his optimism and *not* superpowered), but being stuck in his initial thoughts about the shield. ...That it didn’t feel like it belonged to him. Sam’s personality, has been established as super-loyal and almost childlike in his feelings that things will work out and doing the right thing because it’s right (which is why he didn’t get paid enough BTW naive pride).
-which comes into play w/ his conflict w/ his sister later... I’ll come back to that.
~ We jump into a dangerous mission that shows off Falcon’s personality. He’s gonna get it done with style and optimism even when working with equipment that needs a few updates. The stunt coordination here was fantastic! I legit whewed! aloud at Balroc paragliding into *multiple* helicopters... Sam’s hair-pin turns milimeters from canyon rock, propellers, and rockets... ~ I *loved* Torres’ fanboying. It felt like a parallel to Sam fanboying Cap, in CA:WS and evoked the well-established superhero trope of a person *marveling* aloud at what you’re doing making it so. much. cooler. (as an oldhead, the random black dude emoting about Superman’s suit after he comes out of a phonebooth, in the Reeves movie, is my earliest memory of this trope). ~ Then we see the Tunisia titlecard, which yea! it didn’t just say Africa, but ehh, once again “yellow tint” is code for “exotic” country full of brown people. It did cut through the typically more alt-right-tinged military propaganda w/ the Tunisian man thanking Sam for saving his wife, the bare minimum of humanization... but it saved the scene from just “backdropping” the people/culture w/o any humanity, at all, as is typical... That and the way these two BIPOC spoke to one another (there is a certain kind of rapport we non-white folk have w/ each other) was my first hint...that this showrunner ain’t a white dude. The joking about him knowing Arabic...like cheering/teasing when we show our range to one another. Mainly, this interaction was to show that Sam is to Torres what Steve was to Sam in some ways...with a bit more “brazen kid” on Torres’ part, along w/ introing the idea of the Flagsmashers. ~ Then, naive Sam decides to donate the shield to the Smithsonian...because he doesn’t feel like he’s earned it and because in his mind it still belongs to Cap and because he’s out here trusting this governement even after all the B.S. he’s done lived through. Even Rhodey was having his doubts... Maybe being around during the blip makes a person more savvy and cynical, IDK. ~ So, then we see Buck in therapy and since I’ve been through trauma, I know that mindset. Sticking to routine is a big “win”. Not really caring about anything beyond the bare essentials (yall saw that man’s apartment). And the feeling of being displaced would be amplified by the fact that this man is more so than anyone who has existed(!). ~ I noticed that Seb leaned into his Rom-Merican accent, which was a great acting choice, it evokes his sense of having traveled without a solid sense of self in a place, because he was essentially, asleep all those decades, while the brainwashed aspect of himself was enslaved to Hydra. I LOVE his therapist. Fannishness for a cute guy, means a lot of people don’t like her being “mean” to him... But I’mma tell you, as someone who actually has been in therapy for a good bit, you *need* someone who will call you on your bullshit so you can properly work on it. I love that she’s also a vet and there’s nothing cutesy and coddling in a male-gazey sexy or motherly way. She’s doing her fucking job and not letting his ass slide. To me, that read as a hat-tip to a woman drecting this. So, we see Buck manifest his trauma w/ profound discomfort in his own skin. He doesn’t know how to interact anymore, how to swagger in this strange time and place (because dude had all kinds of 1940′s swagger and juice back in CA:TFA) So, he’s just awkwardly honest, and beating himself up for that. But... he’s still alive, so he totally perked up in the presence of this attractive server and Yori notices and like so many old people, just busted his chops and skipped all the what he wasn’t gonna do and did it for him, w/ Leah’s confidant acceptance -ahhh, I luv her!- as an assist. ~ Then we flip back to Sam in Delacroix and we meet his sister and his nephews and his community(!) which really nails down Sam the man, the person, the human apart from his underwritten assists to the Avengers. We see that Sarah knows and loves this naively optimistic ‘I will find a way to fix it because it’s the right thing to do’ hard-headed brother.... but good-God! he doesn’t know shit about real-world day-to-day struggle... If you’ve seen Anthony Mackie in The Hurt Locker... one of the big themes explored, is how tough it is for vets who have been through explosions and firefights in another country... to adjust to day-to-day struggle in “normal life”. THAT is what Buck’s therapist was calling out when she said BULLSHIT to him saying he wanted peace (lol, no he doesn’t, like Sam he wants that righeous kind of adrenalin only being in action for “good” gives) and what Sarah is frustrated w/ is regarding him not understanding or respecting the kind of struggle she had to deal w/. ~ As an aside I *loved* her *nose-scratch* “Can I talk to you for a minute??” Whew! That is a black-ass way to let you know someone is pissed w/ you and wants to hash all the shit out. That’s why Sam avoided it, lol... ~ So, the date with Leah, who does all the right things...Goes terribly, because Buck is still too deep in his trauma focus on anything about how great she is. Note, that just about everything that happened on that date reminded him of aspects of his trauma to the point where Buck, (being an absolute dick!) just fucking, walks out on her!! I NEED her to chew his ass out for that and I need him to *not* be able to make it up to her (and I’d also love some fanfic, where Buck actually does *ahem* treat her well... I know Asian women be shorted in fanfic too!) ~ So, he goes to Yori’s apartment and stares like an obvious knucklehead (still dealing w/ being stuck in his trauma) at the alter to the man who was just in the way of that brainwashed aspect of himself, pays for the lunch and walks off...AND, NOTE!! YORI DID NOTICE ALL THIS. So, this will eventually come to a head...yikes! ~ Then we’re back to Sam, and Sarah who tries to have that talk, but old boy ain’t trying to hear it. Insisting that he’s the man to swoop in and save the boat and the business *sigh* by some magic (hanging with magical beings...will do that, I guess). And Sarah smartly is just frustrated and skeptical, but lets him go on and try and fail in the same ways she already did so. many. times... in those five years. ~ And then we see bb Torres being brazen kid stupid amateur spy w/ the Flagsmashers. I honestly thought old masked dude stomped him to death, at first... The camera pan showed the cliched dead-man pose, after all. I guess he pulled that (super!)stomp, which means... Flagsmashers aren’t the lethal villians here IMO. I think they escaped from the *real* villian. ~ And then comes some real world racist bullshit... This scene at the bank *nails* a particular kind of frustratingly infuriating racism that is common. Where they will act like they are doing you a favor because they like and want something from you... but still won’t serve you in the same way they would a white person. It’s this strange willfullly “I like you negroes, you entertain me! -but fuck you -but I still like you!” patronizing thing that we know all too well. *whew!* That was real. And then that heartbreaking scene where after Sarah rightly told-ya-so’s. -Sam is working on that mess of an engine and reality *finally* sets in when the key didn’t even attempt to turnover.
~ Then Torres messages Sam (and he’s alive!) and we all know Sam knows these Flasgsmashers got super-serum, but isn’t saying. Even TORRES knows (bless his heart). ~ And from there we go straight to the U.S. government rubbing salty dirt in Sam’s wound with the new/fake Cap holding the shield aloft and winking like “It’s mine now, bitch!”. ---And the credits, I won’t get into except to say if you want ALL the spoilers in the credits, watch that linked video, I posted earlier. But they are SIGNIFICANT spoilers.

One woman is storming around, something would “never happen”, and the reason why she likes me, her logic, her head, is what has me angry. “Not tonight”, and she doesn’t treat me like she treats other guys. And, now you see. Isn’t it sad? She came out, first, which is why she is storming around, and said she would marry me. I hadn’t yet made it about her, no need, but rather I made it about me. I made it about my enablement, and what I could do for her. After I did this, a fat bitch said I was wrong about some things, a white woman who needs to loose A LOT of weight and if she did she might have extra “skin” like an uncircumcised dick. Fat bitch said I was wrong for being a racist, and I had not yet thought about the prophecy of Lemuel. And, today you see Stonewall Jackson and the trees, with “ignorant Africans.” Now, you see someone with mental illness, things was so pleasant for fat bitch, why would she want any different as I am not a wanton? Where did she go? And there it is. Some guy is saying “the matrix” and it’s weird. I’m not getting onto that, what I am getting into is someone oppresses and woman storms around as a spinster, thornback, and my love only gives me the solution.
Some woman storming around, stumping around, she knows about Robert E. Lee’s prettiest sight, and like there is a field gang in the field there are these women who are TOO OLD to be that sight and I’m one man. You see negro nerd making the joke on me for three years, he got his Lori Harvey of the nation or viceroyalty, and I have Robert E. Lee’s prettiest sight but they are TOO OLD. Some thornback, spinster, she got married, and now I’m getting my fix and my kids can’t be like me. Woman storming around, I got heads on my body like a pig eating feeds, and it’s Robert E. Lee’s prettiest sight but it’s TOO OLD. Woman storming around, stumping around, and then another woman is stuck, and now you see TOO OLD. Some woman is beautiful to me, and I feel weird around 25 white girls and it is just me. “What am I doing here?”, and Robert E. Lee isn’t personified. I know what I worked for, if I have to take it there I’ll take it there, and you put two hands in pocket to say you are not in politics right now. I’m not white. You see TOO OLD, and now your classrooms aren’t black and white but all these people are half way there and they can only be black. Isn’t that funny? This makes you put both hands in pocket, just for you to think of white woman with black hair? You see it? “I’m white”, and dumb negroes won’t catchup. I’m not saying be more righteous than whites, I’m not righteous in my own eyes, but I say figure it out! Some guy has a fetish of belly buttons. He says he is obsessed, it is means for him to feed his baby - and he’s feeding his woman. I have Robert E. Lee’s prettiest sight, but too old, and that will make you take in information and “be better” as I’m on to Old Bed’s tricks! Same ol circus, OLD BED! You know field hands, and in that there is the field gang. Oxgang? You see it! Anglo-American law, you learn it, see it, and say, “I could have thought of that.” Well, you are white and I am black, that’s how it works! “Poor devils”, and many wouldn’t read to FIGHT! I have the prettiest sight, but TOO OLD, 25 heads on my body and I’m getting my fix. Behold, what could have healed the country, I begged you to talk Confederates before Trump and I just want to work in manufacturing, you can go off and be the voice and not a bad actor, only to see racism and it shows I’m not Rastus. I didn’t go to a high school either. I just walked, and in it I was able to get money. By my God I changed laws, and courts recognize it, and I got pony tails, clips, buns, pigtails, hair down, whatever, kissing my body and giving me my fix. You don’t want to talk Confederates?
I’d establish Egyptian culture, by Confederates, and woman is clear. She wants to feel like woman who stood before judge Judy, with other women, and there was one man justifying what he had in his mind. She wants that same image, but courts recognize it. Now, I have TOO OLD for prettiest sight and it’s racism. Christianity said pay caesar, and calling yourself white is like you calling yourself Christian, and BOOM. Woman get lifted up to her highest state, and now you see why she’s storming around as my love is content. The good wife, it ultimately is because of black dick and she’s enabled. “That never would happen” becomes “it would only happen if it was you and you weren’t on the internet”, and she’s storming around. I have the answers to be with her as I am, she imagines me giving her 20% of my pay every two weeks and I worship her in clandestine marriage, and you see a woman content with the truth as the other is just storming around. “I could use 125 dollars or so, 90 dollars, a week”, and it’s 400 dollars a month and she’s my wife. Storming around, just to see I’m really doing more than show I don’t need “treatment”, and it’s “not tonight”, woman content says the same. NOT TONIGHT.
Oh, if I wasn’t on the internet, and I just walked, to make you wonder, and I never was on the internet, I have lock and key. Now, people feel a little better about themselves just for you to see the storm! She got my attention, and she wanted to be uplifted. “She’s just being a white woman”, and “it never would happen” unless it’s me. Storming around. She never thought of things, just to think. Some spick is in kitchen, and if the spick learns language to be better than a hottentot then the spick can be in kitchen and keep getting better. Now, at 50, 5 star in New York City and poor people who can’t afford school are joining the army. Yea. Joe Biden’s emanation is, and they preach peace - it’s an insidious effect. Instead of McDonalds sweet tea, large, being two dollars (it changed), it’s five dollars, and they are making it about the cost of eggs and milk last year. “Be positive”. Negro woman!
An idiot is ready to see my analogy of the pig, and think it’s the same as a gold ring in the SNOUT of a pig is like a fair woman without discretion. She’s storming around, or being still, and I’m showing her I’m ready to marry. “It would never happen”, becomes it would only happen if it were me, as a woman is a thornback, spinster, and I have the solution in our love. Woman storming around, how awkward is marriage? All of these people go to the wedding, could not even know them that well, they could not like your wife or husband, and there is a pastor saying, “speak now or forever hold your peace.” Woman storming around, it’s awkward for a spinster, thornback, to get married for she is beyond the ordained age. Some woman who can’t dance, she starts spinning, and there it is. The wedding is awkward, woman storming around and I know her. Music plays she spins. Now, “marriage is awkward”, spinster, she’s wearing heels in a dress with drape over head. Her dad is giving her away, spinster. Woman still sees this and understands my love - beyond Robert E. Lee’s prettiest sight and TOO OLD. I engage clandestine marriage, and all of those people other woman wants there, making her storm, wouldn’t be there.. and I make love with her like I am making a daughter just to make it about her sucking my dick.
She gives her sign, woman storming around, woman still, she says she’s watching me. I can’t hide from her, my acts, so she feels like a god in me getting enthusiasm when I see her. “Not tonight”, storming around, still, and I don’t have her feet in my face with her on her back telling me she love me first night. That’s why I act like this. She come to love me, and I don’t have to physically pop her Cherry and I’m not bopping her upon the head. It wasn’t that serious, if that guy was me, and not on the internet, “ok, it would happen.” That’s your sign, and then people dream? Living outside of the self? Now, woman doesn’t treat them like she treats me, and she doesn’t want YOU to know she submitted to women surrounding my body like pigs feeding and I’m making out with my love because she married my first. Woman storming around doesn’t like thinking of housewife, the contrast of good wife, and me in my penury saying, “YOU GONE TALK ABOUT THE CONFEDERACY, SON OF A BITCH.”

Yk what second rant bc im in a ranting mood
Im black, but i dont like "stereotypical black things"
I dont listen to reggae or hiphop or rap music. I don't speak in aave often bc i just wasnt raised that way. I cant dance. I dont like spicy foods. And i like anime and cosplay.
And its so frustrating to me bc people try to take away my "right" to blackness because i dont fit into a certian box of what black people are like. Ive been called white by not just my friends BUT ALSO MY FAMILY and it just kinda sucks. I know theyre just joking but it kinda hurts
Just beacuse a black person doesnt "sound black" doesnt mean they're not black. Just becuase a black person isnt the "loud ghetto negro" steryotype doesnt mean theyre not black !! Black people can literally be anythung beacuse we are just PEOPLE. we shouldnt have to be put in a box
It took me so long to learn to love the colour of my skin and i shouldnt have to feel like anything else beacuse i dont fit into some tired, old steryotype
Ok im going to bed now im too mad
