idk if I've said it before, but your portrayals of both Rouxls and Queen are among my favorites, and the way they are when you combine the two is the sole thing that got me to say "yes" to queenkaard. When I first saw it in the game and it started catching on as a ship, I was like "nooo I hc him as gay," but then after seeing your stuff I was like "oh nvm I totally see this now."

i think hearing "i didn't see this ship before, but after your art i understand it and/or even ship it myself" is one of the nicest compliments i get, because it makes me feel like i'm representing something meaningful and sweet about a pairing and having people understand what i think is so great and captivating about them. i've gotten a couple asks like this and sometimes i forget to respond but i always really appreciate them :) thank you very much

not to keep publicly processing this or anything

but I think it's really unfair to say WE SHOULD HAVE KNOWN!!!!! based on the sensibilities of DC COMICS from the 80s and 90s

American comics in particular have been okay with publishing some really violent, degrading shit basically since the end of the fucking Comics Code, either in the name of wildly misguided Female Empowerment or just plain old edginess.

It's also deeply fucked and puritanical to think that because a writer taps into Fuckeduppery, we should put them on the watchlist for thought crimes because they're obviously admitting to their sins. In the midst of this garbage, my dash has also been full of Sweetie Pea of Note Dev Patel using his teeth to shove a knife in a dude's neck (Monkey Man: 5 stars, 2 thumbs way way up). I do not think Stephen Graham Jones or T. Kingfisher or Chuck Palahniuk are simmering under a thin rime of Horror Author, waiting to commit violence. Of course there's nothing wrong with not having liked him, or even hating him for his work or his persona.

Ultimately, it does not matter why. With public figures, you can get caught in a loop of endless speculation, ESPECIALLY with someone who has made themselves available since the dawn of the internet. It doesn't matter when. It doesn't matter if it was a chicken or an egg, a publication or a fantasy first. The crime is the violence. What matters is the fucking choices he made, to do what he did.

That his father was Aristaeus, lord of the bees and the rustic arts and his mother was Autonoe, daughter of Cadmus and princess of Thebes?

Did you know he was trained by Chiron? That he was considered a hunter so skilled his talent was considered divine, that he was his parents' only child and that he was loved?

Did you know the grief that consumed the household when word of Actaeon's fate reached them? That Cadmus cut his hair, that Harmonia wept and was disconsolate and that his parents... well, Autonoe walked the length of the forest, keeping a sharp eye out for her son, but all she saw were the scattered bones of a fawn. Aristaeus too, had heard his son was torn apart and so fruitlessly, foolishly searched for the bones of a man. (There was none to be found)

Did you know that it was Actaeon's ghost, unhappy and unburied, trapped on the earth, who leaned over his sleeping father and told him of his fate? when the same people who wouldn't shut up about you giving too much to everyone and asking you to hold back start complaining that you seem more reserved and don't have the same love and joy for the world and everyone in it as you used to once you actually take their advice...I fucking called it. I knew I should've trusted my gut. I'm not built for holding back and rationing my love and being careful with my heart. I'm tired of being careful. I love people and yeah I keep getting my heart broken but it grows back bigger and stronger every time. I wouldn't trade the experiences for anything. im built to be a best friend to whoever needs me because that's what gives me joy. not all of it is a transaction and its okay if everyone doesn't return my love and kindness with the same intensity. im not doing it for a reward. im doing it because knowing a person for however long is a unique and beautiful experience and the reward in itself.
