I think Orym's position here is such a great one to depict, because the reality of any form of political organizing you will find someone who will not budge. This is fundamentally neutral, though someone like this can certainly have a position you find repugnant. It doesn't matter. This is the reality of dealing with that person. If someone will under no circumstances change their position - especially if it's informed by personal experience - that doesn't mean they are a good or bad person or their position is justified or not, but it does mean that to get them on your side, either you will have to find a way to appeal to them, not the other way around, or you will have to move forward without their support.

When encountering someone like this, you can bang your head against the brick wall and tell them about the superiority of your position for as long as you want, but unless you dip into threats and coercion or worse, you really cannot make them do anything they don't want to, no matter how eloquently you speak. There's considerable power in being that person.

(For what it's worth, I think he's perhaps the truest foil to Ludinus in this respect; I believe Ludinus's beliefs to be just as deeply ingrained and immutable. Jed puts his hat on Octavius because he’s talking to Lancelot and Jed is still very protective/jealous abt that and in ACTUAL cowboy culture, putting your cowboy hat on someone essentially means that they’re yours. Not in an “i own you” way but in a “they’re mine/off limits” way. It means you mean a whole lot to them and also that everyone else needs to keep their hands off and their eyes away cause they are yours

like lowkey, its essentially claiming them as your spark publically, and is lowkey a pretty romantic thing to do especially if the recipient knowns the real meaning

At least, over their fight anyways. It's so delicious that for Wukong, those centuries of mourning Macaque were taken from him. Is it a blessing or an agony for all the times you cursed his name for hiding after what he did? There is nothing to mourn, he is alive and well right beside you, and yet the same gaping horror and emptiness claws through his stone heart. It'll polish it into a new form of grief. He can never say, "I missed you" to Macaque after this, has skipped right over knowing what he lost, all because those missing centuries were branded into bitterness, but y'know. That's a pill you swallow. The shadows never had the chance to respond to him no matter if Wukong ever tried to sniff him out.

yeah :) hearing that in the s4 special just confirmed to me that there is more to the story in what happened between Wukong and Macky that led to his death. like i already had a feeling and that feeling increased thanks to one of the writers’ tweets (i think it was a David Breen?)

and so my personal theory is that Macky’s memory of their fight lines up a lot closer to what “technically” occurred in the jttw book. meanwhile the truth and what Wukong remembers is a lot different

It’s actually an interesting fact that they chose Aylin for View’s name. When you search for the meaning of the name (which has different meanings yet similar ones) it says: Moon halo, The one that belongs to the moon and It is a circle of light around the moon and some constellations. And then we have her possible love interest June which is called Luna in the series. When you search the name Luna it is translated to moon. Do you get what I mean?? We have Luna and the one who circles/belongs around/to her - Aylin. But what makes this so beautiful is that Love’s character’s name is called Sun and Milk’s character’s is Ongsa/Earth. The Earth revolves around the Sun while the circle of light revolves around the Moon and I think that’s beautiful
