Chase After You
masterlist! | part 2 | part 3
synopsis: vi swears she doesn't have a soulmate, you swear that your soulmate is a masochist. Turns out you do exist, and turns out Vi plays hockey
pairings: vi x reader, lowkey ellie x dina
Tumblr media
Your soulmate must have been an absolute idiot.
Caitlyn said that he “or she, I don’t discriminate,” was probably a masochist because every day it seemed you woke up with another bruise or another cut. You couldn’t even count the amount of times you had woken up in the morning with a concussion—it was a miracle your soulmate was even alive at this point.
“I’m just saying,” Caitlyn continued as she leaned against the counter of the campus coffee shop where the two of you had made it a ritual to meet after your clinical rotations. “Whoever they are, they’ve got to have the worst luck—or they’re actively looking for trouble.”
You sipped your coffee, wincing as the hot liquid hit the tender inside of your lip. A split lip, courtesy of your soulmate, who had clearly been in some kind of fight last night. Again.
“Maybe they’re a professional fighter,” you mused, though you were only half-serious. “That would explain all the bruises.”
Caitlyn snorted. “Or just clumsy.”
“Clumsy doesn’t explain the frequency, Caitlyn” you countered, setting  your coffee down. “If they’re not in some sort of contact sport, then they’re probably fighting for their life every day. Literally.”
Caitlyn raised an eyebrow, smirking. “You sure you didn’t end up with some sort of action hero? Like, next thing you know, they’ll show up at your rotations bleeding everywhere, and your soulmate bond will suddenly light up in a dramatic fashion.”
“Very funny,” you muttered, though the thought lingered. You were in your second year of nursing school, constantly surrounded by patients—maybe Caitlyn wasn’t too far off. But the soulmate connection was supposed to be this once-in-a-lifetime, world-shaking thing, and you’d never felt anything remotely close to that.
The coffee shop door chimed, and a gust of cold air swept through as someone stumbled in. You didn’t look up at first, too focused on scrawling notes in your planner about your upcoming rotations. But then Caitlyn’s voice dropped into a low, surprising whisper.
“Uh, okay. Forget clumsy. I think your soulmate might actually be a hockey player.”
You glanced up, curious, and froze.
Standing at the counter, looking half-dead but still smirking like they’d just won the lottery, was Vi, the captain of Piltover University’s Women’s Hockey Team. You didn’t know her personally, but you knew of her—how could you not? Every gay girl within a twenty mile radius knew of her. She was hot. From her cocky grin to her colorful undercut, which always seemed to peek out from beneath her helmet, there was no doubt about it.
But that wasn’t what made your breath catch. It was the way your chest tightened, how everything in the room seemed to quiet for a split second.
Then the pain hit.
You instinctively touched your ribs, feeling a sharp ache that hadn’t been there before. At the same time, Vi winced, her hand going to the exact same spot. Her gaze flickered toward you after searching the coffee shop, her blue eyes narrowing slightly, like she was trying to figure something out.
You felt Caitlyn’s hand on your arm. “Oh my god,” she hissed. “It’s her, isn’t it?”
“No!” You bit back, immediately averting your eyes. “No way.”
If you don’t see her, she doesn’t exist.
—-------------------------------------------
Vi was convinced she didn’t have a soulmate.
She had no visible soulmate mark, no timer and—besides her own—no tattoo. She didn’t see in black and white, didn’t have a red string of fate. It didn’t make any sense, the only explanation being that she doesn’t have one.
Her friend on the hockey team—Ellie—had suggested that maybe it was a feeling soulmate mark. Maybe she was supposed to feel sick when you got sick, or maybe she was supposed to feel hurt when she got hurt. But she never felt… anything.
That is, until the migraines started.
It had been two weeks of relentless, skull-splitting pain, and Vi was on the verge of losing her mind. She’d never been the type to care much about school, but even hockey practice was becoming unbearable. The bright lights of the rink made her head pound, and the noise of her teammates shouting felt like nails being driven into her skull. She didn’t dare tell Coach—she had enough to deal with trying to keep her captaincy without giving them a reason to bench her.
But she couldn’t hide it from Ellie.
“You’re rubbing your temples again,” Ellie said as she sprawled on the locker room bench, laving up her skates. “What, you suddenly got old-person headaches or something?”
Vi shot her a glare. “They’re migraines. And it’s not funny.”
Ellie’s smirk faltered, replaced by a frown. “Okay, but, like… you don’t just start getting migraines out of nowhere. You stressed or something? Got some secret essays piling up that I don’t know about?”
Vi let out a frustrated groan, dropping her helmet onto the bench with a clatter. “I don’t know, Ellie! It’s not stress, okay? They just came out of nowhere, and I can’t get rid of them. I’ve tried everything—water, sleep, painkillers—nothing works.”
Ellie tilted her head, narrowing her eyes thoughtfully. “Huh.”
“What?”
“Well…” Ellie dragged the word out as she tied a perfect knot. “You don’t think this could be, like… soulmate related, do you?”
Vi scoffed, folding her arms. “What? No. I don’t even have a soulmate.”
Ellie gave her a pointed look. “You don’t know that. Just because you don’t have a mark or whatever doesn’t mean you’re off the hook. There are, like, a million different types of soulmate connections. Feeling someone else’s pain is totally one of them.”
Vi blinked, the idea sinking in despite her best efforts to shrug it off. “So what? You think my soulmate is walking around with migraines 24/7? Who the hell stays up late enough or is dumb enough to dehydrate themselves this much?”
Ellie grinned. “Exactly the kind of person you’d be soulmates with. You’re a trainwreck magnet.”
Vi rolled her eyes, but the knot of worry in her chest didn’t go away. “Even if you’re right—which you’re not—I don’t know who it is. How am I supposed to fix this? Walk around asking random people if their head hurts every time mine does?”
Ellie snickered. “You could start with that cute girl from the coffee shop. The one who was staring at you like you were some kind of mythical creature last week.”
Vi stiffened. “What girl?”
“You know. Black sweater, big eyes, looked like she wanted to crawl under the table when you caught her staring.” Ellie’s smirk widened. “She bolted so fast, I thought she might leave a cartoon dust cloud behind.”
Vi groaned, her hands dragging down her face. “You’re impossible.”
Ellie shrugged, grabbing her stick and standing up. “Hey, I’m just saying. You’ve got migraines, she looked like she was about to faint—sounds like a soulmate connection to me.”
“Ellie, drop it.”
“Fine, fine.” Ellie paused by the door, grinning back over her shoulder. “But if she shows up at your next game, you owe me a drink.”
Vi glared after her, her headache suddenly feeling worse.
————————
Your day had started out pleasant.
You woke up on time, didn’t have a splitting headache or a new bruise, and had your fresh and folded laundry waiting for you from the day before as you finally pulled yourself out of bed. Even Jayce and Caitlyn seemed to get the ‘good day’ memo—the two of them swinging by your apartment with coffee before the three of you headed off to class.
It was nice, until it wasn’t. It all went downhill when the throbbing started.
It wasn’t your usual soulmate-related ache—no split lip, no bruised knuckles, no sudden stab in your ribs. This was different. Familiar, but different no less. A dull, creeping pressure that started behind your eyes and spread through your skull like a slow wave. By the time your second lecture had started, it was unbearable.
“Are you okay?” Caitlyn asked, leaning over from her seat. Her voice was low enough not to draw the professor’s attention, but the concern was evident. “You look pale.”
You pressed your fingers to your temples, trying to will the pain away. “Migraines,” you muttered. “Really bad one.”
Caitlyn frowned. “You went to bed early last night.”
“Apparently, that doesn’t do anything for me anymore.”
You barely made it through the rest of the lecture. By the time you were packing up your things, Caitlyn was hovering like a worried mother hen.
“Are you sure you don’t want to skip clinicals today? Jayce can take your rotation, you look like you’re about to pass out.”
“No, I’m fine,” you insisted, though your voice lacked conviction. “I’ll just grab some water and take something for the pain.”
Caitlyn didn’t look convinced, but she didn’t push further as the two of you made your way out of the lecture hall.
You thought you were doing a decent job of toughing it out until you practically walked right into Jayce in the hallway as he excited his pathophysiology lecture.
“Whoa, you good?” he asked, steadying you when you stumbled slightly. “You look like you’ve seen a ghost.”
“Migraines again,” you mumbled again, brushing him off. “I’m fine.”
Jayce gave Caitlyn a questioning look, but she just shrugged.
The rest of the day was a blur. The pain didn’t ease up—it never did until you went to sleep—and every bright light or loud noise seemed to stab through your skull. By the time you reached the coffee shop for your usual post-clinical ritual, you were barely holding it together.
Caitlyn was mid-sentence when the door chimed.
“Do you think it could be stress? Your migraines never used to be so bad—”
Her words trailed off, her expression shifting to one of disbelief.
“What now?” you groaned, not bothering to look up.
Caitlyn’s hand gripped your arm. “Don’t freak out, but she’s here.”
“Who?”
“Don’t be an idiot. You know who.”
You blinked up at her, confused, before following her gaze toward the counter.
There she was again—Vi. This time, she looked even rougher than before, with dark circles under her eyes and a visible bandage peeking out from under her sleeve. She had her fingers pressed to her temples as she leaned against the counter, waiting for her friend to finish ordering.
And then it happened.
Your headache, which had been a steady, unrelenting pressure all day, suddenly spiked. A sharp, blinding pain shot through your temples, and you let out a quiet gasp, clutching your head.
Across the room, Vi froze, and her friend immediately snapped up.
Her gaze hit yours, and for a moment, the world seemed to stand still. The pain in your head mirrored the way her hand shot up to press against her temple, and her eyes widened in recognition.
“Oh, no,” you whispered, panic setting in.
Caitlyn’s eyes darted between you and Vi, her mouth falling open. “It’s her. It’s definitely her.”
You scrambled to your feet, heart racing. “Nope. Not happening.”
You bolted.
“Hey! Y/N!” Caitlyn hissed after you, but you didn’t stop.
The door slammed shut behind you, and the crisp evening air hit your face like a slap. Your heart was pounding, your migraine screaming in protest at your sudden movement, but the overwhelming panic drowned it out. You didn’t know where you were going, only that you had to get away. Far away.
Unfortunately, the universe—or more specifically, Vi—had other plans.
“Wait!”
Her voice was rough, loud enough to cut through the noise of the street and send a fresh wave of adrenaline coursing through your veins. You didn’t look back, breaking into a full sprint.
Behind you, you heard heavy, determined footsteps.
“Oh, come on!” Vi groaned. “You’re really gonna make me chase you?”
You didn’t answer, too focused on not tripping over your own feet. The ache in your legs spread quickly, your lungs burning as you pushed yourself harder.
“Damn it,” you heard her mutter, closer this time. “You’re not even good at running!”
“No one asked you!” you shouted over your shoulder, breathless and desperate.
Vi let out a disbelieving laugh. “You’re serious? You’re yelling at me while running away?”
“Yes!”
She groaned, and her footsteps quickened. “You can’t outrun me, you know. You might as well stop before you pass out!”
Her voice was closer now, and you risked a glance back. Bad idea.
Vi was gaining fast, her long legs eating up the distance between you with ease. She wasn’t even winded. Meanwhile, you were gasping for air, feeling like your legs might give out any second.
“Leave me alone!” you shouted, panic edging into your voice.
“Can’t do that!” she called back, her tone surprisingly light for someone who was literally chasing you down. “You’re my soulmate, remember?”
Those words sent a jolt through you, and you stumbled slightly, your pace faltering. That split-second mistake was all she needed.
Vi caught up in a flash, one strong hand wrapping gently around your wrist as she slowed to a stop. You tried to pull away, but she held firm, her grip steady but not painful.
“Let me go!” you gasped, twisting in her grasp.
“Hey, hey!” Vi said quickly, holding up her free hand in a gesture of surrender. “Relax, okay? I’m not here to hurt you!”
You glared up at her, chest heaving, and she met your gaze with an almost apologetic smile. Up close, she looked even rougher—dark circles under her eyes, a fresh cut on her lip, and that same bandage on her arm.
“Look,” she said, her voice softer now. “I get it. This is… a lot. Trust me, I wasn’t expecting to meet you today either. But running away? Not the best idea.”
“Why not?” you snapped, still trying to catch your breath.
Vi smirked, the corner of her mouth twitching upward. “Because I’m an elite athlete, so now you’re even more exhausted, and I’m still here.”
You glared at her, unsure if you wanted to scream or cry. “What do you want from me?”
She blinked, her expression softening. For a moment, she looked almost shy, which was wildly unfair given how confident she’d been five seconds ago.
“I don’t know,” she admitted. “I mean, I didn’t even think I had a soulmate until, like, two weeks ago. And then today, bam, migraines, and here you are.”
Yuo stared at her, dumfounded, and still too overwhelmed to make sense of her words. “That’s not an answer.”
Vi sighed, releasing your wrist but saying close enough that you couldn’t just bolt against. “Okay, fine. I guess I want to… figure this out. I mean, we’re soulmates, right? So maybe we could just… start there?”
“Start there?” you repeated, incredulous. “You don’t even know me.”
“Exactly.” her lips curved into a small, lopsided smile. “Let’s change that.”
You opened your mouth to argue, but the way she was looking at you—earnest, a little nervous, but stubborn enough not to let you push her away—made the words catch in your throat.
Caitlyn’s voice rang in your mind: Whoever they are, they’re probably a masochist.
Vi seemed to read your hesitation as a crack in the wall you’d been trying so hard to keep up. She tilted her head slightly, her blue eyes locking onto yours with unnerving intensity.
“Look,” she said, her tone gentler now. “I’m not asking you to, like, fall into my arms or anything. I just want to get to know you. No pressure, no expectations. What do you say? Coffee after your next rotation? My treat.”
You hesitated, your heart still racing. “Why should I trust you?”
Her smile faltered, and for a split second, you saw something raw in her expression—something that made your chest tighten. She winced slightly, rubbing the back of her neck. “Honestly? I don’t know how much longer I can handle these migraines, so we need to find a cure or something.”
That earned a startled laugh from you, despite yourself. “So, this is selfish.”
“Totally,” she admitted, grinning now. “But if it gets me a chance to spend some time with you, I’ll take it.”
You studied her for a long moment, torn between wariness and the tiniest flicker of curiosity. Finally, you sighed, crossing your arms. “Fine. One coffee. After my next rotation. That’s it.”
Vi’s grin widened, and for a moment, you were struck by how bright it was—how it softened the sharp edges of her features. “Deal.”
As she stepped back to give you space, you realized something strange: your headache was already starting to fade. Grabbing a random business card from her pocket and a pen from another, she scribbled down her number and lightly shoved it into your hands.
“See you around,” Vi said, giving you a little wave before turning and jogging off down the street.
You watched her go, still unsure if you’d just made a huge mistake, or taken the first step toward something you couldn’t even begin to understand.

Hi!! Hope ur having a good day! Could I ask u to write something abt caitvi x fem!reader who forgets to take care of herself (bonus points if she's a workaholic)
hi i’m SO late i’m so sorry baby
(reader is a student because i’m an overworked student and this is self-indulgent like everything else i write also this is nsfw sorry if that’s not what you wanted anon! no use of y/n)
it’s not new for you to work yourself to the bone. whether it’s pulling more than one consecutive all nighter to get papers finished on time, or spending full twelve hour shifts in the library pouring over your books and notes, you slip easily into an all-work and absolutely no play mindset (not that showering or hey, eating, counts as ‘play,’ but anyways)
usually, nobody notices. so what, you disappear sometimes (for weeks), but you always pop back up looking normal, so it doesn’t draw attention. everyone knew that you were a dedicated student. the only reason caitlyn notices you’ve stopped caring for yourself is because she sees the trait of obsessively working until you drop reflected in herself
you started dating caitlyn and vi in the early summer, so they had ever seen you in your element. when the academy starts back up in the fall, your girlfriends are excited to see the sparkle in your eyes when you tell them about your passion, hands moving animatedly as you talk at a rapid pace. vi often teases you for being a nerd, but cait is much the same, so it’s two against one there
anyways
i think cait would bring it up to vi first, asking if she’s noticed how you’re starting to pull away a little, and when they do get to see you, you’re not yourself. usually, you keep your appearance well put together, hair down and outfit chosen to bolster your look-good feel-good attitude. lately though, the bags under your eyes have become prominent, and some nights you don’t come home, saying you’re gonna work late at the academy, but then not going home at all
at first, vi is just super proud of you, for working hard at what you love. she understands what it’s like to want something so bad that you can’t help but “stay in the grind.” she sends you texts in the group chat often throughout your busy days, pictures of her at the gym or a gif of little cat, always with a message saying she’s so proud of her girl, that she loves you
after cait mentions how worried she is, vi starts to notice that you’re not as cheery as before, on top of the eye bags an disheveled appearance that is starting to become your staple look. she’s frustrated with herself for not noticing and taking care of you, and with you a little for not taking care of yourself. cait convinces her to let her try and help first, as someone with a more similar academic experience
caitlyn starts showing up at the academy, at least once every day. she brings food, and coffee, and sometimes she gets jayce, but more often viktor, out of the lab to accompany you. she always takes your hand, dragging you from what you’re doing to sit with her and just talk. she’s subtle about her worry, not wanting you to feel guilty, but wanting to change your habits slowly without you noticing (cait is so conniving i love her)
as the semester continues, you only seem to get worse, despite cait’s best efforts. cait is consistently holding vi back from saying something blunt, because she doesn’t want to upset you, or to cause you to give up on what you love all together out of guilt. in the end, you end up coming to them, having completely exhausted yourself and tilting your last straw
it’s late when you get to the kirraman household, knowing you girlfriends are there. you don’t know what time it is, the sun having set some uncounted number of hours earlier. you knock on the door (even though you know you can just walk in), embarrassed about how bad you’ve let yourself get. cait opens the door and envelops you in a long hug after taking one look at you, standing on her porch in a big sweatshirt, sniffling a bit, unwashed hair piled onto the top of your head
“oh my darling, come inside”
she’s warm and so soft with you, and you’re already feeling better. cait shushes every attempt you make to apologize, for showing up out of nowhere after not really showing up at all for a little while. she brings you up into her room, where vi sits on the end of the bed
vi nearly knocks you to the floor with the force of her hug. she’s strong, and she’s whispering to you about how much she loves you, and how proud she is of you for coming to them for help when you need it, for recognizing that in yourself. her words bring you to tears, and her arms wrap tighter around your torso. you feel cait join in on the hug, tucking you and vi under her chin and squeezing her arms around you both
they bring you to take a bath, and vi gets in first, hissing at the hot temperature of the water. you sit between her thighs, and she wraps her arms around your torso, calloused hands covering your entire stomach. cait sits on the edge of the tub, asking you about your work, and sternly but lovingly detailing how much time you’re allowed to spend at the academy from now on, until you find an appropriate balance between your work and your life. vi hums in agreement with everything cait says, punctuating every particularly harsh sentence with a soft kiss to the juncture where your neck meets your shoulder
they leave you in the bathroom to wash your hair in he shower, and when you come out of the bathroom, you’re wearing one of vi’s hoodies from her gym, and cait’s too long pyjama pants, and you look more refreshed than you have since the summer. you look so cuddly and cute that cait starts cooing at you, and you giggle, batting her hands away when she squishes your face
vi is sitting on the bed, manspreading in that way that she does, and she’s smiling softly at her two girls
(NSFW NOW BTW)
“c’mere baby”
and you do, standing between vi’s legs as she wraps her hands around your waist. you lean down to kiss her, and soon enough her tongue is licking at our b otto’s lip, and you’re opening your mouth to let her in, your hands draped loosely around her neck. you sigh into the kiss when vi’s hands starting palming at your hips, your waist
vi pulls you into her, lifting you effortlessly into her lap so you’re straddling her. the kiss gets deeper, and you whine when vi pulls back. she smiles at you, and tilts her head towards the top of the bed
“how pretty is our girlfriend, huh baby?”
you turn to look, and there’s cait, wearing your favourite set of pink lingerie and sitting up against the headboard, hair down and legs spread open only slightly. you flush a bright red when you see her, mouthing parting slightly when you lick your lips. vi bounces you on her lap for a moment when you don’t say anything
“tell her baby”
“cait, you’re gorgeous”
vi leans into mouth at your neck, murmuring to you about keeping your eyes on caitlyn, and you do. you’re still blushing, silly in your position, but you can’t help it, with how caitlyn is staring at you while vi sucks marks into our soft skin. vi shimmies further onto the bed with you, and hooks her hands under your thigh to lay your down softly on the bed, your back pressed to cait’s chest
cait is immediately sweeping your hair to the side and digging her teeth into the side of your neck, causing a sweet little noise to slip out of your mouth. vi groans at the sound, pressing a strong thigh up against you as your hands make purchase on her biceps. cait’s mouth on your neck is teasing, a nip followed by soothing kitten lick, and vi is holding herself up above you, her free hand hooking under your knee to bring your leg up over her hip as she pushes her leg against you more firmly
eventually, you’re getting desperate and whiny, and vi gives in as soon as she hears the first “vi, please,” slip from your beautiful mouth. she pulls your (cait’s) pyjama pants down, panties too, and your immediately rucking your hips into nothing, searching for some friction to help you out. normally, vi is a lot more teasing, but not today
“vi is gonna take care of you, okay sweet girl?”
and vi does. she presses her hands onto the backs of your thighs, pushing them open and up. without any prelude, she gets to it, licking through your wetness and groaning at the taste. you’re arching away from cait, whose one hand has taken to holding your hips in place to help vi, the other tucking itself underneath your (vi’s) hoodie to pluck at your nipples
it takes no time at all for your girlfriends to have you a whimpering, squirming mess, begging to cum. cait is whispering softly to you, hot breath slipping over the shell of your ear, shushing you and telling you how good you’re being for them, how much you deserve to feel good, and could you cum for them, please?
you do, of course. it cracks through you, hips stuttering on vi’s mouth, legs trying to clamp shut but stopped by vi’s strong hands. vi works you through it until you’re whining and pushing at her head, overstimulated. you collapse in heavy breaths, thoroughly sated and exhausted
caitlyn is instantly tugging at you to turn around, head resting on her chest. she pulls you tight to her with a hand on your waist after readjusting your sweatshirt to be comfy. her spare hand comes up to run through your still-damp hair. vi slides your panties back on but abandons the pj pants, kissing her way up your bare legs and rewinding you of how well you’ve done, and again how proud she is
vi tucks herself up behind you, spooning you, arm thrown over both you and cait. that’s how you fall asleep, pressed tightly between the two of them. you drift off instantly, and over your head, vi and caitlyn smile at each other
you don’t overwork yourself again

I'm sorry if this request is super long and detailed, but I was wondering if you could write a story with (hear me out) Thanos notices reader he thinks she's cute like a rabbit but reader is in a relationship with player 333 she enters the squid games trying to help out her bf but finds out he also joined and that he used to go out with player 222 and that 222 is pregnant with his baby. She feels hurt and asks him to justify himself he tells her he will, but "now is not the time" and he keeps trying to get closer with his ex she feels hurt but tries to be cool abt it. And that's when Thanos tries getting closer to her he convinces her to join his group and 333 is annoyed at her asking to justify her actions and that's when Thanos tells him to "f off" and he gets annoyed at him.
So Thanos to piss him off even more he kisses the reader in front of 33 and starts getting a little handsy with her then tells him to excuse him and his new gf and then boom NSFW with reader asking Thanos to tell her he loves her or what he likes abt her (just reader trying to know if she's rlly loved or not)

The smell of blood and fear permeated the air of the shared dormitory as the players tried to sleep amidst watchful vigilance and distrust. You sat against the wall, watching as Myung-gi, your boyfriend, argued with a nearby group about strategies. Your relationship with him had been a beacon during your financial struggles, a reason to keep going when everything seemed to fall apart. Yet, something about his behavior lately had changed.
You didn’t realize someone else had been watching you from across the room. Thanos, the chaotic rapper with a silver tongue, kept his eyes fixed on you, his thoughts flowing as quickly as his improvised rhymes.
"She’s cute," he murmured to himself, running a hand through his messy hair. There was something about the way you bit your lower lip while deep in thought that made him pause. Something different. Something real.
That night, after the next game was announced, you tried to approach Myung-gi. You had entered the game for him, to save him from his mistakes and arrogance. But when you found him, he was whispering something to Player 222, a young woman with a round face and tired eyes. You stopped as you caught a fragment of their conversation.
"Why didn’t you tell me before?" Myung-gi asked in a low voice.
"Do you think it was easy for me?" she replied, visibly emotional, her hand stroking her belly.
A chill ran down your spine as you understood what that meant. The confrontation was inevitable.
"What’s going on here, Myung-gi," you asked, trying to stay calm as your eyes darted between him and Player 222.
He sighed, visibly uncomfortable.
"She and I… we had something before this. It’s not what you think."
"It’s not what I think? What’s that supposed to mean? Why didn’t you tell me she’s pregnant?" Your voice rose, but you tried to avoid drawing the other players’ attention.
"I’ll explain everything, but now’s not the time."
"You always say that. What am I supposed to do while you…?" You trailed off, unable to continue as you saw his attention shift back to 222. He was worried about her, not you.
The pain in your chest was unbearable, but you decided not to show it. You walked away, finding a corner where you could breathe.
That’s where Thanos found you. He sat down next to you with the confidence of someone who had always relied on fast-talking to survive.
"That guy’s an idiot," he said softly, almost a whisper, but filled with conviction.
"Stay out of it, Thanos," you tried to sound firm, but he just laughed.
"Come on, girl. I’m good at reading people, and he’s not worth it. Join my group. I promise I won’t betray you like he did."
His words, as ridiculous as they seemed, carried weight. There was something refreshing about his unfiltered honesty, something that made you consider his proposal. When you nodded slowly, he grinned widely, as if he had won the most important game.
Later, when Myung-gi saw you with Thanos, his face darkened. He approached quickly, crossing the room with long, aggressive strides.
"What are you doing with this clown?" he snapped at you, glaring at Thanos with disdain.
Thanos stood up, positioning himself between you and Myung-gi.
"Clown, huh? At least I don’t have secret babies running around."
"Shut up!" Myung-gi shouted, stepping forward, but Thanos didn’t back down.
"Why don’t you go to hell instead?" Thanos shot back with an insolent grin. Before Myung-gi could respond, Thanos turned to you and, without warning, kissed you.
The kiss was brief but intense, a declaration as brazen as he was. Myung-gi stood frozen, his fists trembling with rage.
"Forgive us," Thanos said, wiping his mouth with his thumb as he looked back at him, "me and my new girlfriend."
The air in the room grew tense, the other players watching in silent interest. You were speechless, caught between Myung-gi’s humiliation and Thanos’s defiant attitude. Although you hated to admit it, a small part of you felt vindicated.
When Myung-gi walked away, muttering something you couldn’t hear, Thanos shrugged and glanced at you sideways.
"See? Problem solved."
"You’re an idiot," you said, but you couldn’t help a faint smile.
Thanos noticed the curve of your lips and, as if he had received the green light, leaned in toward you again. This time the kiss was longer, deeper, more intentional. You felt his hand gently glide across your cheek, and despite the chaos surrounding you, the world stood still for a moment.
When his lips parted from yours, he looked at you with that spark of amusement and audacity that never seemed to fade.
"Want to get out of here?" he whispered.
You nodded without much thought. Something in the intensity of his eyes made you forget everything else.
The two of you walked toward the bathrooms, ignoring the curious gazes of the other players. As soon as you crossed the door and he closed it behind you, he gently pinned you against the wall. His lips found yours again, and this time there was nothing to hold back the electricity between you.
"You know you drive me crazy, right?" he murmured against your neck, his warm breath sending shivers down your spine.
"Thanos... this is insane," you said, but your hands were already gripping his shirt.
"My whole life has been insane. You’re the only thing that makes sense now."
Your breath quickened when his hand slid over your chest. The fear and adrenaline of the game mixed with the heat spreading through your body. You wanted him to take you to the limit, you wanted him to make you forget everything that had happened.
"Talk to me," you pleaded, arching your back as his fingers found your nipples.
"I want to see you," he whispered, caressing your skin through your clothes.
You nodded with a moan when he moved aside to take off your blouse and bra. His gaze fixed on your breasts, his breathing visibly quickening.
"So beautiful..." he murmured, biting his lips. His fingers caressed your nipples again, this time without the barrier of clothing, and the pleasure made you moan.
"Go on" you pleaded.
"You have no idea what you're doing to me, do you?" he said, removing your pants and panties in one swift motion.
Before you could respond, he knelt in front of you and kissed your sex. Your body shuddered in surprise, but the surprise was quickly replaced by desire. His lips and tongue traced circles over your clitoris, sending waves of heat through your body.
"That's how I like it" he gasped, raising his eyes to meet yours. The intensity of his gaze made you feel as if your entire body was on fire.
"Say it again," you pleaded in a whisper.
"Like this. Me. Like." he repeated softly, each word accompanied by a kiss on your sex.
You felt on the edge, about to burst. Your breathing was shallow, but his fingers wouldn't let you stop. They caressed you firmly, quickly, until you could no longer bear it. Your body tensed, the muscles tightening in waves that coursed through your entire body. The orgasm was so intense that it enveloped your entire body from head to toe.
He stood up while you were still swaying in his arms, watching you with a satisfied smile.
"Do you like it this way?" he asked in a soft, almost inaudible voice.
"Yes" you answered without thinking. "Yes, yes..."
"Yes?" repeated Thanos, caressing your thighs with his fingers. His hands moved slowly, but his gaze was burning and dark.
"Yes, Thanos" you moaned, going to kiss his lips fiercely.
He responded with equal passion, kissing you breathless. His fingers caressed your thighs, moving up towards the sex that was still trembling with pleasure.
"Do you have any idea how much I desire you?" he whispered, kissing your breasts with an intensity that made you gasp.
You nodded, wanting more from him. Thanos responded by quickly removing his clothes, showing you his erection. You felt wet at the sight of him, wanting to feel him inside you.
"I want to feel you," you pleaded in a low voice.
Thanos nodded, positioning himself between your thighs. Your sex tensed in anticipation of the contact. He kissed you with a hoarse whisper as he penetrated you. The pain of the first contact mixed with pleasure as he began to move inside you.
"I love how you feel," he gasped, caressing your thighs as he penetrated you.
The sight of his face flushed with pleasure was the last straw. You couldn't take it anymore, and a second orgasm enveloped you. Your sex closed around him, enveloping him in waves of pleasure. Thanos shouted your name as he came inside you, his body trembling against yours.
The room seemed to spin around you as your breathing normalized. Thanos held you firmly against his body, kissing your forehead with a satisfied whisper.
"It was incredible," he said. You make me feel alive, like I've never felt before.
You nodded silently, feeling the warmth of his embrace against your skin.
"I'm going to get you out of here," he promised, his eyes shining with a conviction that surprised you. I swear.

UA Touya has been on the brain so much lately
Enji refused to get him in on recommendations (and yes he becomes pissed years later when he learns Shoto was admitted on recommendations), so what does Touya do?
He passes the exam with a flawless score, getting into the Hero Course. He’s one of the strongest in his class. He’s so driven and passionate during training. He’s everything you’d want to see in a hero.
However, his attitude plus alternative style plus quirk makes fellow students…weary of him. He’s known to be rude. He only hangs out with people from other schools. He’s covered in burn scars and grafts.
Sadly, this starts many rumors. Shit like “did you know Touya is in a gang?” and “I heard he beats up kids…some hero he will be!” and “That Touya would be better off a villain than hero.” Due to all this plus all his energy focused on becoming a top hero, one no could ever forget, he keep to himself while at school.
So it’s a huge surprise when one day at lunch he finds you standing in front of him. Touya always ate outside in the courtyard where he could blast his music without any teachers yelling at him. He’s even more shocked when you ask if you can join him.
Why was a pretty thing like you talking to him? Didn’t you hear what they all say about him?
He’s suspicious, not sure what your motive here is. You explain that you wanted to eat outside because the weather was so nice for once, and while you were looking for a spot to sit you overheard his music and wanted to listen. His suspicions don’t fade, but he allows you to enter into his little world for the next hour. You two sit together and listen to his playlist, occasionally discussing the song/album before it fades into the next.
This exchange continues for the next few weeks. You both begin really looking forward to lunch everyday. You two begin exchanging songs, homework answers, even phone numbers. You two wave at each other in the hallway, exchanging small “hi”s and smiles. You’re walking alongside friends while he’s always alone. Huh.
One day your friend watches as Touya calls for you in the hallway. You run over to him, excitedly accepting the CD you asked him to burn for you earlier that week. You run back over to your friend and that’s when you learn the rumors. How he’s this big scary villainous guy, how you shouldn’t trust him.
But that’s nothing like the Touya you knew!
So that same day at lunch, you brought up the rumors. He seemed disappointed you finally heard them, thinking it meant his time with you was over. But instead you asked him to answer each question fully honest.
“Are you in a gang?” You laid down. He followed, body laying the other way but head right next to yours.
“Nah,” he chuckled and looked up at the sky. “My friends are just losers and refer to us as ‘The League.’ The only time things get violent is game night.”
You laugh at his answer, making his cheeks go pink and a slight pout form on his lips. You then ask your next question.
“Do you really get into fights with children?”
“Ohmygod it was ONE FUCKING TIME,” he sighs, rubbing his forehead. “Shit wait that sounds bad.”
You laugh harder this time. “Touya what the fuck?”
“Okay okay look my youngest brother can be a handful. I took him to the playground one time and some badass kids made him cry,” he explains, feeling embarrassed at the memory.
“Touya no you didn’t-”
“I didn’t hurt them!! I just showed off my flame and made sure they knew to leave my brother alone….not my fault they started crying.” The look on his face is too cute as his embarrassment is clear. You can tell he’s not use to opening up like this and letting people truly see him. Your heart fluttered realizing you were becoming one of the few people who get to see him like this. Who gets to truly see Touya.
“Okay okay now final question,” you bite your lips nervously. “And you don’t have to answer it if you don’t wanna.” His eyebrow rose at your words, face turning to look at you. “How did you get your scars?”
It’s silent for a few seconds. 10 minutes go by. Then 20. Almost 30 before you speak up again.
“I’m sorry, pretend I never asked that. I just was-”
“It’s pathetic,” his breath is shakey. He’s facing the sky again, hand running through his hair. “It happened when I was a kid. I was desperate for my dad’s attention and overused my quirk a few times. One night I must have really overdid it. I don’t remember much from that day. I just woke up a while later with these gross skin grafts and my mom sobbing. Really haven’t seen the old man since. If he’s around he’s just with Shoto anyways and,” he takes a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart. “Ah sorry I started rambling there.”
He turns to face, examining your face to gauge your reaction to the real him. He’s scanning your face for any signs of disappointment, disgust, dislike. His stomach turned at the idea of you feeling pity for him as well. God he really has to ruin everything didn’t he?
“You must be disappointed to learn I’m such a loser huh?”
But as usual you surprise him, flashing him a sweet smile as you respond, “nah, I like it. I think you’re cute.”
You then learned one more thing about Touya: being complimented makes his cheeks go dark red.

Broken cycles and fixed bonds (Part 5)
Tumblr media
“Are you two planning on staying?”  Caitlyn’s eyes are hopeful as she looks to the couple.  “I would like to but ultimately it depends on her” Jinx looks down to Y/N’s still sleeping form, peacefully nuzzled against her.  “I could really use my sister around here” Caitlyn whispers heartfeltly, her eyes glossing over.  “I’m sure you both could, I know I need my sister around now” Jinx says with a smile directed at Vi who smiles in return, the feeling mutual.
“Although I’m not sure she is one for paperwork and meetings” Jinx tilts her head ever so slightly.  “You’ll be surprised how well she used to handle the family business with her mother, she was her mother’s prodigy” Tobius speaks up with a warm smile reminiscing.  “She insisted she would learn how to do everything so that one day when Caitlyn took over as the family head, she could assist her flawlessly” Tobius laughs with a shake of his head.  Caitlyn’s eyes sparkle with amusement, as she chuckles at her sister’s antics.
“She really was the responsible one between us.  I was the one who wanted to sneak out and have adventures.”  Vi laughs softly at Caitlyn’s memory, Jinx can only smile, her eyes crinkling at the corners.  Y/N stirs in her sleeps, and Jinx’s gaze immediately falls to her, a look of concern crossing her face. However, Y/N simply snuggles deeper into the blanket, a soft sigh escaping her lips.  Once she settles again, they continue their conversation.  “She was just as bad as you Caitlyn, don’t you worry” Tobius laughs.
“if she wasn’t with your mother doing an abundance of work” Tobius sniggers at his over exaggeration, “she was in the lab or getting up to mischief, sometimes worse than you might I add” he finishes with a laugh, “don’t forget sneaking out to go to the prescient to spar with Greyson”  Caitlyn chuckles now too as Jinx’s eyes light up with amusement, grinning at her girlfriend’s mischievous antics. “Sounds like we missed out on a lot of fun.” Vi jokes with a chuckle, shaking her head.  “I think we had a fair share of mischief in Piltover, definitely more than Cassandra wanted” Tobius’s laughter fades, turning to look at Y/N with a warm, nostalgic gaze.  “it’s nice to remember the good times, she’s been through so much…” His voice trails off and the room falls silent once more, the fire crackling being the only sound in the room.
“Perhaps I should go see Mel, maybe she can help with Y/N’s arcane abilities”  Caitlyn breaks the silence, thinking of Mel Madarda.  Jinx’s expression turned thoughtful before ultimately agreeing before her brows furrow, “wasn’t her mom that crazy warlord that attacked Piltover?” Jinx asks as everyone turns sombre remembering how Ambessa and the Noxus army attacked the city, sided with one of their own, Viktor.  They had all lost so much and so many that day, the room falls silent at the memory.
“as far as I’ve heard she’s got a good handle on her arcane abilities, perhaps she can help guide Y/N?  Help her embrace who and what she is”  Caitlyn speaks up through the gloomy air in the room.  “It’s worth a try” Tobius agrees.  “I will have to ask her to take up my position on the council during my absence, hopefully it will sway her into staying permanently”  Caitlyn’s voice hopeful as she looks to her sister’s sleeping form.  “Will she accept?”  Tobius turns to Caitlyn, his tone wary, “I’m hoping she will, she knows how to run the family business after all, nothing has truly changed in the years of her absence.” Caitlyn speaks confidently, she knows her sister, knows that her family will always be her number one priority.
“And maybe, just maybe, her girlfriend wouldn’t mind helping convince her?” Vi hints cautiously to Jinx who smiles and nods in return.  Jinx’s smile turns sly as she leans in, a mischievous glint in her eyes, “oh I think I can be very persuasive when I need to be” she winks with a smirk, Vi chuckles, a low, throaty sound, at the implication Tobius’s face turns a light shade of pink, clearing his throat in embarrassment. Caitlyn rolls her eyes good-naturedly, a small smile painted on her face.
“Maybe we better get everyone to bed, we can discuss this tomorrow” Tobius says as he begins to clear the tray of teacups.  Nodding in agreement, Vi stands up with Caitlyn, stretching her arms over her head.  “sounds like a plan to me, I’m beat”  Caitlyn hums in agreement before yawning, before turning her attention to Jinx who is still sat in the chair with a sleeping Y/N.  “Are you going to be alright or do you need help?”  Caitlyn questions looking to Jinx, there would be absolutely no way any of them would be able to carry her through to a room, however Jinx just smiles with a small shake of her head, “I’ve got her.”
She waits for everyone to file out of the room, biding goodnight to one another as she gently brushes a strand of hair out of Y/N’s face, “hey toots, lets get you to bed huh” Jinx whispers placing delicate kisses across her face whilst the latter groans in response, deciding to snuggle further into her lover’s side.  Jinx repeating the same action as Caitlyn stood in the doorway watching the interaction with a soft smile.  Jinx’s whispers grow softer, her kisses gentle as she coaxes Y/N into a more wakeful state.  “Come on sleepyhead…let’s get you to bed”  Y/N groggily opens her eyes, blinking slowly as she focuses on her girlfriend’s face, a small smile forming.  “Come on toots” Jinx guides the lethargic Kiramman through the house to the guest room, gently turning the handle and pushing the door open, once inside Y/N is quick to collapse on the bed and back into a deep sleep.
Jinx shakes her head at her girlfriend’s antics before looking around the dimly lit room before spotting their luggage in the corner.  She can’t help but smile at the woman, moving to brush a tendril of hair out of her face once more before placing a chaste kiss to he lips, “I love you” she whispers before standing once more.  Once the blue haired woman has found some comfortable clothes for both of them to ware to bed she is quick to strip Y/N, carefully redressing her in suitable sleep ware before doing the same with herself and carefully climbing into bed next to her.
Y/N is quick to pull Jinx flush against her sleeping form drawing a smile for her as she wraps her arms around her in return, settling into comfort as their grips tightened around one another.  The warmth and comfort they provide each other is quick to lull them into a peaceful sleep, the only sounds is the soft synchronised rhythm of their breathing.

Blind Man Cassidy and his fortunes
If you play red dead two, which I assume you do if you come across this post, you will without a doubt have come across Blind Man Cassidy, the blind fortune teller standing on the side of the road in the middle of shit-fuck nowhere (srs how does he get all the way out to Tumbleweed?) all acorss the map, willing to tell you a fortune for a mere dollar.
At first glance these fortunes seem pretty useless, even the protagonists brushes them off without thinking more about them, however when you know the full story they actually make quite a good amount of sense, so here are my enterpretions of them
Arthur's fortunes
"Make your final moments your best moments, sir. Know glory and forget about shame."
Living life how you wish to live. Arthur stands with a choice, on one hand he wants to rip loose from Dutch and help the Marstons but on the other hand he is scared of what Dutch thinks because that is still his father. I feel this is "know the glory of helping and forget the same your father will cast on you."
"You must decide between your past and others' future, friend. Decide, for soon it will be too late."
Arthur's past is that of crime and of loyalty, one he would likely have continued if it wasn't for the events of rdr2, however following that life of crime would have gone in the way of something else, helping John. He has to decide if he wants to continue to live the life he has always lived by Dutch's side but leaving John to his own or if he wishes to stand by John and leave Dutch.
"That which is killing you will help you, finally, to see. And see clearly, friend. See and hear."
Tuberculousis. The TB is quite literally killing him but it is also helping him realise everything that is wrong around him.
"Your father is seduced by the one with the forked tongue... it's no use hoping."
The one with the forked tongue means the snake, which in this fortune is a reference to Micah who is the liar and manipulator seducting Dutch... And it seems Cassidy knew that Dutch was lost even before Arthur did.
"Your whole life, sir, you have followed the wrong star."
Dutch has quite literally been Arthur's guiding star his entire life, he has followed his footsteps, done everything he asked, stood by his side, so on and so forth, but in the end it wasn't Dutch that Arthur should be following, he gave him nothing but hurt.
"Your whole life is one of regret... but it can end better than it began."
Arthur has regretted a lot in life, we can read that in his journal. Wishing he stood by Mary, wishing he was a better rather to Isaac, wishing he saw Dutch for who he was earlier, but as Charles said, he is lucky to know he is dying because now he can change what kind of man he is.
"You are not who you think you are, sir... which is lucky."
Arthur often says he is a bad man, that he is no good and a mere killer, but he isn't. A terrible man would never do the things he did, would never help like he did, which is good because a lot of the gang relied on Arthur to be good.
"Bad news awaits you, sir. Sadly, sooner than you think. But beyond the news, paradise awaits. Paradise..."
Bad news would in this fortune be TB, it is coming for him and there is nothing he can do, but beyond those news of terror comes something else, truth, clarity, the knowledge of what he must do and what really happened. Another interpreation of "paradise" could be death, while it would seem like bad news Arthur does mention that he has longed for death for a long time which isn't surprising considering he has been working his ass of his entire life and might just need a break, even an eternal one.
"Run from the seeker, sir. Run and keep running, or help others to run."
Dutch always sees himself as a seeker, he even says so, a seeker of truth, the seeker Arthur must run from, so either he must run (likely to Mary) or he must stay and help others, help the gang when the time comes.
"You didn’t run when last we spoke, sir. You didn’t run far enough."
- He didn't leave, he didn't go with Mary so now the choice is made for him, he must help the others.
"Keep moving, sir. Keep moving... but don’t move too fast."
I think this is a fortune everyone needs to hear, outlaw or not, 1899 or not. We all we need move forwards, we all need to keep moving, but often times while we keep moving with a certian goal in mind we forget to live. We keep running and running and at some point we forget to live in the moment, we disappear from the present, shut down until we reach a future we will disappear from when we reach. For Arthur it is even more important that he doesn't disappear from the present because he doesn't have a future.
"You keep hidden all that matters, sir. Maybe even from yourself..."
Arthur is a fairly private person, he doesn't share that much, however what matter is him, is his emotions, yet he doesn't tell them to anyone, he doesn't show himself or his feelings to anyone, particuarlly in the end he is closed off, also to himself.
"I sense great confusion in you, sir. Great confusion. Not... because you... do not know, but because you are afraid of what you know."
The great confusion comes from the fact that he knows Dutch is gone far before he is actually ready to accept it. Him and Hosea discuss it as early as chapter one, he knows Dutch is gone, but he doesn't quite accept it.
"I see the morrows and see them clearly, sir. Even when all reason is lost, and all truth has become lie, you will stand firm. For loyalty is both your saving and your curse."
Throughout the game everything Arthur believes in will be turned upside down, Marston will be good, Dutch will be bad, Hosea is gone and Micah is still there, but he doesn't waver. Arthur will stand tall, loyality has always been his thing and it will help him save others and help him keep his head clear in the end, but it will physically kill him.
"Be warned, sir, be warned. Surrounded by fields of burning fire and flesh, the devil will make his sacrifice."
I hear many say this is about Eagle Flies, however I would like to think that this is more about Dutch leaving Arthur in the middle of the chaos they have created. Everything is strange, things are off, no one trusts one another and then Dutch leaves Arthur, both emotionally and physically.
"Be warned, sir, do not slumber too deeply... for the man with no nose is coming for you."
The man with no nose is death and if Arthur relaxes too much he will die, his body will give out on him.
"Just as evil begat evil your whole life long, so good may beget good."
Arthur has done a lot of evil throughout his life and that evil came back to him, evil causes evil. However in the end when he did good, he will also get good back, it will set off a chain of good.
Marston's fortunes
"You have learned the most important lesson of all. That only one thing matters and all else is lies."
Family is the most important thing. John has gone through hell and back but the one thing it taught him was that his family was worth it.
"Embrace those who love you, not the memory of those who pretended to."
Once again this is family related, John should stop chasing and obsessing over Dutch who did nothing for him, but rather focus on those who do love him, his family.
"You remember the past at the expense of the future."
While I do think that even if he hadn't gone for Micah that he would have been found at some point, John going after Micah, remembering the future, did speed up the process that ended up killing his family.
"You’re a fool, fiend. But not so much a fool as you think, nor such a fiend. The past is done, the future is yet to come."
The past is done, 1899 is done, the future has yet to come, 1911.
"They will come for you, friend. When they do, you will not have a choice. But you have lived better than most."
When the Pinkertons come to take John's life he will have no choice, he will be trapped and he will die, but he can comfort himself on the fact that he had a loving family, a good home and people who liked him.
"Two strangers seek thee. One from this world... perhaps one from another... One brings hatred... I'm not so sure what the other brings"
One from this world, one who is human, Edgar Ross, and one who is not, The Strange Man. They know what Edgar wants, but they don't quite know what The Strange Man wants.

Being Bruce Wayne’s husband could be quite one of a challenge. Other than the media would go nuts and paparazzi Y/N Wayne, asking him questions. He also has to worry about the super-villains in Gotham targeting him knowing he was the husband of the richest man in Gotham. And much other.
But there’s one thing that Y/N often struggled with; dealing with Bruce’s kids. Well, everyone was easy to deal with. Expect… Damian Wayne. Who often sees him as a competitor to his mother, and would often try to kill the poor second father to him, from Dick to Duke everyone was a piece of cake to deal with but not Damian. But this night, perhaps. Changed.
Y/N was alone, reading a book in the shared bed where he and Bruce would spend the night while wearing one of Bruce’s clothes. But of course, Bruce being Batman would go for patrols on the night streets. Y/N was fine about this but not for Damian, as stubborn as he was, asking to join but since he have school. Bruce refuses. Which leaves Damian in his room, everyone thought he was asleep. But in the middle of the night—Unsure by time. The door of the shared bedroom opened, with Damian and Titus standing beside the boy who was carrying a pillow with weary eyes which worried his papa.
“Is everything alright, Dami?” Y/N closed his book with a worried expression. As Damian shook his head.
“…Pa…Papa. Would I disturb you if I… needed comfort?”
Y/N blinked to the boy’s statement, but he simply smiled. Sitting to the edge of the bed, he gently patted the other side of the bed. Damian then made his way to sit next to his second father, followed by Titus who stood on the ground firm. Y/N then gently guided the boy to rest his head against his lap. Once he was settled, with a slow and delicate movement. His hand brushed over the boy’s hair while keeping their silence between them. It wasn’t the silence of seriousness. It was simply a silence of calmness, a quiet moment between father and son. Something Damian barely had with Bruce.
Damian was born to be a weapon (other than Cass), to be an assassin who was just cold and firm and barely showed humanity. But the moment he met Bruce—Alfred and his older siblings, followed by Y/N, Damian’s stoic demeanor melted as they showered him with love he always deserved. Burying his emotions wasn’t the answer. He hated the fact he could show vulnerability, but for this night? He just let it go. The feeling of Y/N's hand brushing his hair and him while saying sweet whispers and affection words was enough to let Damian fall and continued his slumber.
As the clock continued to tick, and Damian finally fell asleep once more. Y/N sighed with relief, he adjusted their position. Letting the sleeping Damian rest beside him, as he tugged the boy. Before soon, tiredness followed Y/N his eyes were heavy. He hugged Damian, smiling to himself. As for Titus, was curling close to Damian.
Soon, Bruce came back after patrol with weary eyes while casually still in his suit. He yawned the moment the Dark Knight opened the door to the bedroom. His eyes widened seeing the sight behold in his very own eyes; the love of his life, Titus, and his biological son. Who was “hating” Y/N’s presence in the Manor. Hugging each other like a mother who hugged her son who has a nightmare. This sight made Bruce smile, soon, he joined two of them, Bruce big spooning against Y/N. The four sleep like one happy family.
Alfred? He was taking a picture of the wholesome scene.

Chapter 11: Kiss Me Where I Break
Tommy was beginning to worry that he might have broken her.
She said next to nothing the entire train ride from Birmingham to London, all his attempts at initiating conversation met with one word answers or just quiet hums in acknowledgement while she stared out the window. Eventually, he just gave up and decided to leave her alone.
The past few days had been utterly hellish. He kept forgetting that Lucy wasn’t at the house anymore. He’d be in the throes of work, and call out for her, only to realize a second later that no one was coming. She wasn’t a simple holler away anymore.
He missed her almost more than he could bear. He had gotten so used to her always being there. Right by his side. To help him, to talk to him. To just…be there when he needed her. It was like someone had amputated one of his limbs.
But being around her during the workday did little to soothe the ache of her absence. Both because of the guilt that chewed away at him at every glance into her sad eyes, but also because something had undeniably changed between them. There was a schism between them now, ever since he had told her about Lizzie’s deal. Lucy was more distant, more subdued. Like the bright spark that she always carried with her had been suddenly snuffed out. He missed her, even when she was standing right in front of him.
He wanted his Lucy back.
For a while, he had thought that perhaps she was immune to him and the darkness that he carried. And yet in the end he had sapped out her light; broken her like he did everyone else close to him.
He rolled his unlit cigarette between his fingers as he strode down the hallways of Westminster. Frustration crackled beneath his skin. His meeting earlier that day with Aberama had gone well. Aberama had agreed to postpone his planned killing of McCavern. And he was planning to propose to Polly. But despite the recent string of accomplishments, Tommy felt no joy or relief. If anything, he felt even worse.
He couldn’t help the prickle of jealousy he felt towards Polly and Aberama. How fucking lucky they were, to actually be marrying someone that they truly loved.
He eyed the golden band on his left hand disdainfully. It felt more like a shackle than a wedding ring.
Pushing open the door to his office, he chanced a glance at where Lucy was sitting, bent over a few documents with her fists pressed to her temples, elbows on the desk in front of her. Her lips were tilted downwards. Next to her, the fresh bouquet of sunflowers he’d sent was perched on the edge of her desk. He opened his mouth, considering asking her if she wanted to go out to dinner, then closed it. Why bother? He already knew that she was going to say no.
Still, worry festered at the edges of his already frayed mind, longing to fix what he had so stupidly broken. He needed her. Everything was ten times harder without her there to lighten the load. He hadn’t even fully realized just how much he’d come to rely on her emotional support until it had been ripped away.
He didn’t know what to do to make any of this better. They had never had problems before. Sure, they’d had their squabbles and arguments from time to time, but they never lasted long. When it came to Lucy, this was entirely new territory for him.
Wandering into his own office, he tossed the folder of papers he was holding down, reaching for the decanter usually filled with whiskey only to find it empty. Scowling, suddenly deeply irritable, he opened a drawer and snatched the large bottle inside, taking a slow swig. A soft sigh left his lips, eyes briefly slipping closed as the cool liquid slid down his throat.
With the meetings with McCavern, Chang, and Aberama, he had barely had time to stop to catch his breath.
Without even so much as a knock, the door to his office opened, and, of all people, Mosley came slithering in. Tommy quickly stashed the bottle back into the drawer and wiped at his mouth, turning to face him. Those dark eyes of Mosley’s narrowed, voice doing little more than to set Tommy’s teeth on edge as he discussed the invitation Tommy had extended to him to the ballet performance at Arrow House for Lizzie’s birthday. As the conversation continued, Tommy moved to sit in his chair behind his desk, suddenly eager to have some sort of barrier between them.
Mosley eyed him up like an animal waiting to pounce when he started speaking of his past acquaintance with Lizzie. No doubt hoping for some sort of reaction from his words. Tommy kept his hands laced tightly in his lap, hoping that the other man didn’t see the way his fingers tightened against each other.
“Well, if you recognize her, maybe you can talk about old times, eh?”
“Maybe, if we have met before, your wife and I could even renew our acquaintance. I am invited to stay the night, yes?”
It was becoming increasingly hard for him to remember why he continued to tolerate Mosley’s presence. With each passing moment the temptation was growing stronger to grab the gun in his drawer or use the blades in his cap to slice the man to pieces. Or to perhaps call Lucy in and have her deal with the fascist piece of shit. That could be fun.
Speaking of Lucy, perhaps now would be a good time to let Mosley know about the research he’d asked her to do on the MP.
“I too have done some research, Sir Oswald,” he allowed his eyes to narrow a fraction. “Yeah. I researched your wife. And your wife’s younger sister. And your wife’s stepmother, Lady Curzon. All of whom you are fucking. If such things were to take place on a narrowboat, the church would get involved.”
“But…” Mosley’s voice was but a whisper, “it’s not happening on a narrowboat.”
“No. It’s taking place in your apartment, in your country house, sometimes even in your office here in the House of Commons.” He clicked his tongue disapprovingly. “So no secrets. And yes. Yes, you are invited to stay the night with whichever member of your family finds favor. Now, if you don’t mind, I was about to leave. I need to lock up my office.”
Mosley looked at him for a long moment, smoking casually. “Funny,” he said finally, “how disapprovingly you speak of my liaisons. Considering that lovely redhead that you always keep so close to you. Pretty thing. A bit plain, for my taste, to tell you the truth, but still. Lovely.” Tommy’s stomach churned. “Tragic past too, poor thing. She’s been working for you for many years now, hasn’t she?” Mosley cocked his head. “And I hear that she has quite the array of talents. Tell me, was it her that you had do your research on me?” He didn't wait for a response. “Wonderous job, if it was. Very few people know about my particular relationship with the Lady Curzon. Perhaps I should borrow her, at some point. I’m sure that she could be of the utmost use to me.”
Tommy felt like he was going to throw up. Mosley took another long, slow drag from his cigarette, eyes not once leaving Tommy’s.
“Actually, I will come alone,” he said, finally, in response to Tommy’s invitation. “In society, you are judged by your hospitality. I will expect adventure.” He leaned across Tommy’s desk to put his cigarette out in the ashtray. Tommy was certain that if he had to hear that man lecture him one more time about the ‘rules of society,’ he was going to scream. Mosley straightened. “Such rogues we are, aren’t we? Sing like songbirds in the House. And then afterwards, relieve ourselves in the bodies of whomever we choose. Two men for whom forbidding is forbidden,” he raised the little paper that was his invitation, “should be quite the party.”
Tommy managed a smile that was more of a grimace, and Mosley finally, finally slunk his way out of the office. He pressed a hand to his face once the door closed, mind whirling. The idea of letting Mosley near Lucy or Lizzie made his skin crawl and stomach heave. And yet he was going to do it. To let the man waltz right into his home on an invitation. His hand trembled. Neither of them deserved him. Lucy’s sad eyes and Lizzie’s resentful gaze danced in his mind. He should have left them both alone. They would be better off now, if he had. Rather than latching onto them and dragging them down with him into the depths of hell. He’d only wanted to help them, and yet all he had accomplished was ruining their lives. And that wasn’t even counting this current mess he had made. A mess that he had no idea how to fix without hurting at least one of them.
His eyes flickered down to the topmost right drawer of his desk, hand pulling it open almost of its own accord. The gun sat atop the papers stacked inside. Tommy let his hand fall from the handle, eyes still fixed on the gun. He leaned forward with an exhale against his desk, head bowed and eyes squeezed shut. There was a breath echoing in his mind. Slow and steady with its inhales and exhales. He rested both hands on the back of his head, rubbing at the skin in an attempt to quell the swirl of self hatred that he was drowning in. The room was suddenly very dark and cold.
“You have to listen to the voices that you hear.”
His head snapped upwards, eyes wide open. No.
“Do what they tell you to do.”
The breaths were continuing. Her breaths. Her last breath as she died in his arms. Yet another one of the women in his life that he failed despite the amount in which he cared for her.
“You don’t even have to rub the lamp anymore to summon the genie,” Grace continued to speak from where she was standing in the corner. A shiver ran down Tommy’s spine. Grace raised a hand, and dangling from her fingers on a chain was the massive blue sapphire, the one he had locked around her throat. His greed having sealed her fate. “It wasn’t the blue stone, Tommy. It was you,” she pressed the necklace to her chest. He could hear her heartbeats now, a rapid thumping in his head. The drip of blood running from her chest to the floor. Tommy’s hand tightened into a fist. He couldn’t look at her. At those accusatory eyes. “It was you.”
There was a soft knock on the door. “Tommy?” Lucy’s voice called.
The breaths and heartbeats faded away. Grace vanished from sight. Tommy leaned backwards, squeezing his eyes shut tight and exhaling. “Just a minute, Luce,” he choked out. He forced deep breaths to pass through his lips, pushing the panic attack down with each one. Eyes finally opening, he pushed the open drawer with the gun in it closed, sitting up and straightening himself out. “Yeah?”
The door cracked open and Lucy poked her head in, a folder tucked under her arm. She stepped into the room, walking to his desk and holding the folder out to him. “I need you to sign these.”
He took the folder from her, scribbling his signature on the dotted line of the documents inside. Lucy passed a hand over her hair.
“I sent Adam home. What did Mosley want?”
“To talk about ballet.”
She snorted. “He’s really coming then?”
“Yep,” he handed her back the folder.
“Goody for us,” her voice dripped with sarcasm. Tommy grunted in response. Lucy tucked the folder back under her arm. Her brown eyes swept over him, carefully. “Are you alright?”
Tommy rubbed a hand over his face. “Yeah. Just been a long day.”
She didn’t look like she believed him, but nodded, heading back towards the door. “I’ll go get these filed.”
He watched her disappear out the door. “Thank you.”
He remained reclined back in his chair for a few more minutes, until his breathing had fully evened out and he felt a little less like if someone touched him he might collapse. He glanced back towards the door that led to Lucy and Adam’s office area. When this business was done and the mess between them straightened out, he needed to do something nice for her. He tried to think back to the last time they had done something, just the two of them, that didn’t have anything to do with work in the past several weeks. His brow furrowed at the conclusion that he couldn’t think of anything outside of stolen kisses and touches in dark corners or in her room at Arrow House. Tommy frowned, lips pursing together, another wave of guilt slicing through his being at the way he had been unintentionally neglecting his lover. He realized, with a shuddering of utter horror, that he could not remember the last time he had even simply held her.
Shaking his head, Tommy reached into his pocket to check the time on his watch. It was getting late. He stood from his chair, locking up the drawers in his desk that housed sensitive documents, stuffing a few files into his briefcase, and heading out the door, locking that too behind him. Lucy was sitting at her desk, riffling through some papers. He gently touched her shoulder.
“It’s getting late,” he said softly. “We should lock up.”
She looked up at him, nodding wordlessly and beginning to stack the papers she had been working on, slipping them into a folder and locking them away in the filing cabinet kept in the corner. Tommy watched her cautiously. He reached out a hand to wrap around her wrist, brow furrowing at how cold her skin felt.
“We could go to the apartment tonight,” he offered. He knew it wasn’t much. Certainly not enough considering what he was putting her through. But it was the best he could think to offer at the moment.
Lucy looked down at the floor for a moment, and when she looked up at him those dark brown eyes were shiny.
“Lizzie’s bringing Charlie and Ruby up to visit the office tomorrow,” she reminded him gently. Tommy blinked. He had forgotten. He’d promised to show them around Westminster and then take them all out to lunch.
“So?” he asked, fingers remaining wrapped around her wrist. Lucy gave him a look.
“I’m assuming that you’d like to be able to hold your daughter’s hand while you show her around?”
Alright, he definitely deserved that one.
“And you have an appointment this evening with Dr. Brooke.”
“I remember,” he sighed, letting go of her wrist and shoving his hands deep into his pockets, eyes glancing out the window while he frowned. “It’ll be too late after I'm done to go back to Birmingham.”
“I was thinking that while you’re at your appointment I’d follow up on some research on Mosley’s associates,” Lucy added. “And I need to pick up Lizzie’s birthday presents.”
“And what did I get her this year?”
“A diamond necklace she’s been eyeing in the magazines. Part of the same collection as those earrings you got her in Paris that she likes so much.”
He touched her face lightly. “Whatever would I do without you?”
Her lips twitched upwards into a small smile, though her eyes still looked sad. Tommy let his thumb stroke over her bottom lip. He just wanted to see her smile again. A real smile. The kind that she would often shoot at him from across the room at family meetings or during the workday. Mischievous and bright and warm enough to thaw even his ice cold heart.
“Alright, I’ll go to my appointment and run some errands in town. You go pick up the gifts, do your work. We’ll meet back at the apartment.” At her raised eyebrow he held up his hands. “We just won’t fuck. I promise that I won’t try to maul you.”
That earned him a small, amused snort. “You think Lizzie will believe that?”
He sighed deeply. “Let me worry about Lizzie.”
Lucy nodded. “Okay,” she went to grab her coat from its hook. Tommy wetted his lips as he watched her, reaching out again to touch her arm lightly.
“Maybe…maybe after Lizzie and the kids have gone back home…”
“A day on either side, remember?”
“Yes, but we could still plan on the day after…”
“Why does it matter so much?” she asked, voice suddenly sharpening. “It’s not like you’re not still getting any.”
Tommy had to suppress a flinch. “It’s not the same…” he tried to argue softly. Lucy sighed and looked away, fiddling with her rings. He cocked his head, taking a cautious step towards her. “And what about you, eh?”
Her breath came out in a shaky exhale. “I’m fine.”
“You’re clearly not…”
“Can we talk about this later, please?” she looked around the office, shifting uncomfortably. “Not here.”
Tommy wanted to argue, because not speaking of it was driving him mad. But he held his tongue. He was worried that if he pushed her too hard on it, she’d just retreat even further away inside herself. Besides, it would give him the opportunity to keep working on Lizzie and coming up with his own solutions to the problem. Any conversation that they had about it was surely to go better if he came to her with a potential fix already in hand.
“Okay.”
She gave him a grateful look, shoulders relaxing at the reprieve. Tucking his hands into his pockets, he cocked his head.
“What time do you think you’ll be back?”
“Late. Probably around midnight. Maybe one.” That wasn’t uncommon when she was doing her spy work for him.
“Be careful.”
She smiled another smile that still did not quite meet her eyes. “Always.”
He watched her leave with his hands shoved deep into his pockets, worried frown set like stone onto his face.
∗ ∗ ∗
Lizzie sighed, flopping down onto the couch in one of the large sitting rooms in Arrow House, the children playing in front of her on the rug near the fireplace. She smiled softly as she watched them, appreciating the way Charlie played so gently with his half-sister. Such a sweet kid. She wondered, sometimes, if that was what Tommy was like. Before the war.
Long fingers adjusting on her cigarette, Lizzie’s eyes caught on the chessboard sitting on the table, the little pieces all arranged into their starting positions. A memory of Lucy sitting down unceremoniously in front of her one evening, chessboard clutched in her hands, played within her mind.
“Play with me, Lizzie?” she had asked, widening those big brown eyes at her. Lizzie had shifted uncomfortably, suddenly embarrassed.
“I don’t know how to play,” she admitted. Lucy shrugged.
“That’s alright. I’ll teach you,” she spoke without missing a beat. At Lizzie’s apprehensive look she groaned dramatically. “C’mon Lizzie, please? I’m bored. Tommy’s busy. No one else will play with me,” she had flashed her that teasing, mischievous smile. “I’ll be your best friend.”
It had been hard not to relent, when Lucy was looking at her so hopefully, eyes dancing and playful. One game turned into several, and soon it had become a sort of tradition between the two of them.
Lizzie frowned at the sharp ache of missing the little redhead that throbbed in her chest.
Her absence felt like a gaping hole had been ripped open in the middle of the house. Everyone’s moods–even the staffs’--had taken a turn towards melancholy. The children weren’t as joyful when they played. Cyril was depressed and barely eating. Trouble paced the halls while crying, but hissed and scratched at anyone who so much as tried to come near her. The horses in the stables were gloomy.
A chill seemed to have swept over the entire house. Even the fires lit in the hearths at night didn’t seem as warm. Tommy spent most of his time holed up in his office, his mood somehow even darker than it had been before. He yelled at everyone more often. And one evening, when she couldn’t sleep and had wandered down to the library for a book, she was pretty sure that she heard him weeping.
What the fuck have I done?
Head falling back against the couch, Lizzie breathed out an exhale of smoke tiredly. Her glazed over eyes watched Ruby play with one of her dolls, raising her cigarette to her lips for another drag.
Ever since Lucy had moved out, she had been considering what she wanted to do.
When she had put the phone down after calling the solicitor in London, she had made the decision to stay. But not for Tommy. Not really. It had been for the children. For the house. For the luxury and money and status that Tommy had gifted her when he signed their marriage license. All he’d asked for in exchange was that she care for his home and children, and allow him to be with his lover.
She had made a promise, when she married Tommy. She had swore to him that his relationship with Lucy would be allowed to stand. That she wouldn’t interfere, or make things difficult for them to be together. She had promised the same thing to Lucy.
Poor Lucy, who had only ever tried to be her friend.
Christ, she hadn’t even realized how big of a presence Lucy had in the house, in all their lives–in her life–until she was gone.
She fucking missed her. Missed the way she always seemed to sense when Lizzie needed a break from the kids and was happy to take them off her hands for a few hours. Missed the way she’d always make her an extra cup of tea whenever she fixed one for herself. And how she would help her during her horse riding lessons when she was able. Or when she would fold over the pages in the catalogs that they got of the things that she thought Lizzie might like.
She missed how she’d cover her over with a blanket every time that she fell asleep on the couch because she worried about her getting cold. And the way that she urged for Tommy to do things with her on their own every once in a while, be it just them or with the kids, even though Lizzie knew that it hurt her to see them all together like that.
Yes, they had clashed a lot. Even more so than usual, as of late. But they did have some good times mixed in there.
She passed a hand over her eyes, swallowing down tears. Tommy had said that he probably wouldn’t be home tonight. She hadn’t been able to muster any disappointment at the news. Only deep relief. He had become unbearable to be around. But in a different way than he had been before. Prior, they had always been fighting. But now, he just seemed so…sad. With Lucy around he was still Tommy, with his closed off expressions and gruff words, but his eyes were a bit softer. And he smiled more, even if they were just subtle little quirking upwards of his lips.
“Mommy?” Ruby asked, glancing up at Lizzie from where she was seated on the floor. Lizzie looked down at her.
“Yes, my darling?”
“Where’s Lucy?”
Her throat went dry. The children had asked her several times where Lucy was, and she had never been able to give them a straight answer, unable to bring herself to tell them that she likely was never coming back.
“She’s away at work, sweetheart, remember?”
“Is she coming back?”
Lizzie hesitated. “I don’t know, honey.”
Ruby returned her gaze to her doll. “I hope she comes back.”
Lizzie cocked her head. “Why’s that?”
When Ruby looked up at her, her wide dark eyes were filled with wisdom far beyond her age.
“Because Daddy’s happy when she’s here.”
∗ ∗ ∗
“Hey, do me a favor?” he asked Ada. “When that kid of yours arrives, keep it away from me,” he turned before he could really see Ada’s reaction from her place seated on the steps, heading for the door.
“Tommy,” Ada called out. He turned back. She was worrying at her bottom lip nervously, eyes darting about a moment before focusing back up at him. “I heard that Lucy left you.”
“She didn’t…leave me,” Tommy said, hoping that he was successfully able to hide his wince at the word. “She’s just not living at Arrow House anymore.” He narrowed his eyes. “Who told you?”
“Arthur mentioned it.”
He shook his head. Looked down at his feet. Arthur and his big fucking mouth. “You can say it.”
“Say what?”
“Say that you’re surprised that it took me this long to fuck things up with her.”
“That wasn't what I was thinking.”
“Yeah, well, then you’d be the only one,” it came out bitter, the taste unpleasant on his tongue.
“Tommy…” his sister started and then just sighed, shoulders slumping. “I’m sorry.”
“Mm. Good-night, Ada.”
He walked back to the apartment miserably, opening the door to be greeted with a dark entryway and an equally dimmed sitting room. He pulled off his cap and stuffed it into his pocket, taking off his coat and hanging it up on the hook next to Lucy’s.
He found her curled up on her side in bed, already asleep. He changed out of his clothes in a daze, sliding into the open space beside her. For a moment he just stared at her. Taking in the soft material of her silk maroon negligee, red hair spread out on the white pillow.
He wanted very badly to wrap his arms around her. To hold her against his chest like he had almost every other night they had shared a bed. But he didn’t know if she wanted that. Any attempt he had made over the last few days to bridge the growing gap between them had only seemed to succeed in her pushing him even further away. He didn’t know what to do.
He wasn’t sure what it was Lucy really wanted anymore. It had been her idea to leave. Perhaps she had finally realized what he was: a monster that corrupted and ruined everything he’d ever touched.
∗ ∗ ∗
When he woke up, it was to find that Lucy was no longer beside him.
He reached out, half asleep, only to find her side of the bed cool to the touch. Frowning, he raised his head, blinking open his heavy eyelids and squinting in the dark of the room. No light was sneaking in through the curtains. It was still night outside.
“Luce?” he mumbled. The ensuite washroom door was open, the light off. No Lucy there.
Pushing himself up, he felt a frown twist his lips downwards. Did she so badly want to get away from him that she’d gone and slept in the other room?
His eyes finally landed on the sliver of golden light sneaking in through the crack under the door. Head cocking, he climbed out of bed, snatching up one of his white henley’s and pulling it on over his naked torso. The fuck was she doing out in the sitting room in the middle of the night?
He found her sitting on the couch, the lamp on the end table flicked on. For a moment, he didn’t entirely understand what she was doing. Her back was curved forward, both arms bent so that her hands were reaching backwards towards her shoulder blades. As he watched, her hands flexed, scratching and pressing at her skin, as if trying to massage it. A little whimper emitted from her throat.
Then he understood.
He should have guessed that this would happen. It had been raining pretty hard when he visited Ada’s, and the cold and wet always seemed to make Lucy’s shoulders act up. Plus he had to figure that the mattress she was sleeping on at Charlie’s wasn’t all that good for her back, either.
He wished she would let him at least get her a suite at the Midland to stay at. Even if just for herself.
Hurrying around the couch, he sat down beside her, hands reaching for her shoulders to try to help.
But at the first brush of his palms across her back, she jumped and jerked away.
“N-no…” Her face whipped around to stare at him, and he was met with distraught, teary dark eyes. The very sight was enough to hurt him to his core.
“I can help,” he said, half begging.
She sniffled and wiped at her nose with the back of her hand. “I can handle it–”
“I know you can,” he told her gently. “But you don’t have to.” He saw something waver across her face, his hands reaching tentatively out for her again. “Please, let me help you.” Don’t make me sit by and watch you suffer through this on your own too.
Her bottom lip trembled a little, eyes searching his, and then her shoulders slumped, face angling towards the ground while she nodded in consent. Moving slowly, half afraid she would spook again, Tommy rested both hands on her back. He started up rubbing at her skin slowly, searching out the spots that he knew always gave her the most trouble.
Lucy let out a deep breath, and he felt her relax a little under his hands.
At least I can do this for her.
“There you go,” he said quietly. “It’s alright. I’ve got you.”
She let out another little hiccupping sob. He wasn’t sure if it was in relief over the pain being lessened, or from his words. Either way, he shifted a little closer to her.
“Did you take your pain killers?” The doctor had given her a prescription to use in the event that the pains ever got especially bad.
She nodded. “Haven’t kicked in yet.”
He sat there rubbing her shoulders for a good thirty minutes, until her spasmed muscles had relaxed and the pain medications started to do their job.
“Let’s go back to bed, eh?”
Lucy wiped at her eyes. “Okay.”
She let him shepherd her back into the bedroom, curling up on top of the mattress, watching him flick off the lights and get in next to her, pulling the blanket up to tuck around her.
“Sorry,” she whispered, after they’d both been still for a moment. Tommy stared at the outline of her next to him in the dark. Tentatively, he reached out, stroking his hand through her hair.
“It’s alright.”
∗ ∗ ∗
“Lucy!”
She turned, smiling and scrunching her nose at the two little figures running towards her. She stooped, bending down to press a kiss to Charlie and Ruby’s foreheads.
“Hey kiddos,” she squatted down to their level. “How’ve you been? Have you been good?”
Ruby nodded her head as her voice chirped out a sweet little, “yes.”
At the same time, Charlie cast her a mischievous look. “No.”
“No!? What do you mean, no!?” Lucy cried playfully, reaching around to tickle the boy's sides while he squealed. He looked so much like Tommy when he laughed, it was almost frightening. She pulled the two children in for a hug. “I gotta get back to work, okay? But you two have fun with your mum and dad, alright?”
The children whined but relented, Ruby shuffling back to grab onto Tommy’s hand while he smiled softly down at her. Lizzie ruffled Charlie’s hair affectionately, expression loving as she looked at her step-son. Lucy smiled at her awkwardly.
“Good to see you.”
Lizzie nodded, eyes not quite meeting hers. “You too.”
“Right,” she looked at Tommy. “I gotta go help Adam with paperwork.”
He nodded, expression difficult to read, though she thought that she could see a regretful glimmer enter his eyes when he looked at her. “Alright.”
She nodded in return, waving and flashing a smile at Charlie and Ruby before ducking away. Watching from her desk, she looked on as Tommy ushered his children and Lizzie out of the office. He and Lizzie were both sporting wide smiles. Lucy huffed out a breath, nodding to herself. Good. That was good. They were happier now. Finally at peace with their little family.
Now if only her heart would stop hurting.
∗ ∗ ∗
They met with McCavern that evening along with Uncle Charlie to confirm the plan for distribution of the opium.
“Now who’s this fine lady?” McCavern asked when he spotted her, eyes shining in the lights of the lanterns as he looked her over.
Lucy smiled thinly, taking his hand and shaking it when Tommy introduced them. What the fuck was it with these fascists and their constant leering?
She took a seat next to Charlie, listening to Tommy deal with McCavern. He was bad, that much was obvious to her, even without taking into account what he’d done to Bonnie. But he didn’t make her skin crawl as much as Mosley did. So that was something. Unlike Mosley he was just loud and obnoxious.
Tommy and McCavern shook on their deal, and Tommy poured them all a drink.
“In the firelight, your hair looks like the color of blood, love,” McCavern whispered in her ear, breath tickling her neck as he leaned down to pick up his cup. Lucy tensed, fingers tightening around her own mug. McCavern chuckled and pulled away. From across the table, Tommy’s jaw tightened, clearly having taken notice of the encounter.
But he said nothing.
She understood why. McCavern was volatile; their peace pact fragile. He couldn’t be risking upending that all just over a half flirtatious remark.
But still, it stung.
Maybe he didn’t really see her as someone worth expending the effort to protect anymore.
“You’ll use the cheque guarantee from Mosley to officially connect him to McCavern,” she guessed after McCavern and his men had left.
“Yeah.”
She nodded, raising her drink to her lips.
“I’m going inside,” Charlie announced, standing. He gave Lucy a pat on the shoulder as he passed her and they said their goodnights. And then it was just her and Tommy again.
Tommy cleared his throat. “Are you still coming to the ballet tomorrow evening?”
She swiped a hand across her face. It was Lizzie’s birthday tomorrow, and in celebration, he was having a private ballet company come to his house to put on a production of Swan Lake. A ballet about love, apparently.
A particularly paranoid part of her brain wondered if they’d chosen a romantic ballet specifically to rub her nose in it.
Jealousy pulsed through her. Lizzie always got the big, grand public displays of love and affection. She got to go to fancy theater productions with him, and expensive restaurants. When he won awards and made speeches, she often got mentioned by name in his thanks towards those who had helped him get where he had in life. And at every lavish function, she got to be on his arm.
Even before she’d moved out, Lucy had always been relegated to the shadows. Their relationship could never be known publicly. Their dinner dates were at home, where no one could see them. Or maybe the rare picnic out in the wilderness. Assuming they had the time for dates at all. He’d never be able to throw an extravagant party in her honor.
Looking down at her hands, she frowned. “Wasn’t sure if I was still invited.”
Tommy looked at her sharply. “Of course you're invited.”
“I’d hate to ruin Lizzie’s birthday with my presence.”
“You won’t. She knows you’re invited.” His brows pinched. “She made sure that an invitation got sent to you herself.”
The furrow in Lucy’s brow only deepened. Why the fuck would she do that? Maybe she was trying to remind her of her place. To make sure that she saw the massive effort that Tommy had gone to for her.
“I don’t want you to feel like you have to come if you really don’t want to, but…” Tommy wetted his lips, looking uncomfortable.
“Mosley’s coming,” she finished for him.
“Yes.”
“And you want me to come babysit him.”
“Not…babysit. But I might need you for any business we may conduct while he’s there.”
Of course. He didn’t want her there to enjoy herself. He wanted her there to work. Silly her.
God, when did you get so bitter? she asked herself, cringing at her thoughts.
“I’ll be there. Don’t worry.”
Tommy exhaled. “Thank you.”
“Mhm.”
“I might not be able to come pick you up with all the preparations that need to happen, but I’ll send a driver.”
“Don’t bother. I’ll ask Polly if she can drive me.”
His brows shot up nearly to his hairline. “You want to ride to Warwickshire with Polly?”
“Want is a strong word. But it’ll free up one of your drivers to go pick up some of the other guests. Besides, she’s been a little nicer to me lately. I think Aberama’s been putting in a good word for me.”
He examined her for a long time. “If that’s what you're comfortable with.”
She nodded.
They stayed there for a while, both looking out towards the darkness of the canal.
“I need to be getting back,” Tommy sighed. His hands had slipped into his pockets at some point.
“Okay.”
He made a move as if to approach her, then stopped. The soft glow of the lanterns cast sharp shadows across his face. She could just barely make out the reflection in his eyes.
“Good night, then.”
Before she could reply, he started to walk away, the darkness that surrounded them seeming to swallow him up once he passed the touch of the lanterns.
She stared out into the dark.
No kiss. No I love you. No touch.
“Good night,” she whispered. Even though he was already gone.

── jungkook x you
scenario: you and Jungkook used to be best friend until new female staff came into his workplace, Jieun. He has introduced you to her. Jungkook starts getting busy with his work and often cancel the usual food hunting night with you because he needs to work overtime with Jieun. You know Jieun doesn't like you because she has come to your cafe a few times and told you to stop texting Jungkook during his work hour. when you told him about that, he didn't believe you. Starting that day your friendship is not like it used to be.

(ii)
Jungkook sat at the table, trying to enjoy his birthday dinner, but something felt off. He picked at his food, his mind wandering.
"Hey, Y/N’s not here?" one of his friends asked, glancing around.
Jungkook looked up briefly. “Doesn’t look like it,” he said, though he’d already noticed.
“That’s weird,” the friend continued. “You two are, like, inseparable. Did you have a fight or something?”
Jungkook let out a small sigh, leaning back in his chair. “No… I mean, I don’t think so. We’ve just been… I don’t know... busy, I guess.”
His friend frowned. “She’s not even in the group chat. I thought that was odd, considering how close you guys are.”
His friend's words caught Jungkook off guard. “Wait, what? She’s not in the group chat?”
“Yeah,” his friend replied. “I didn’t see her name when I checked earlier. Maybe Jieun forgot to add her or something?”
Jungkook frowned and quickly pulled out his phone, opening the group chat. His stomach sank when he scrolled through the participant list—your name was nowhere to be found.
“Seriously?” he muttered under his breath.
“What’s wrong?” another friend asked.
Jungkook shook his head. “Nothing.”
He stood up and made his way to the corner of the restaurant. As he scrolled through his messages with you, a wave of guilt hit him. The last text he sent you was weeks ago, just a casual 'Can’t make it tonight, sorry.' and you replied with 'it's okay'. Since then, your replies had grown shorter, more distant.
He felt a tap on his shoulder and turned to see Jieun holding a slice of cake. “Heyyy.... everything okay? you’ve been kind of quiet tonight.”
“Yeah, just…” He hesitated, his tone more serious now. “Did you forget to add Y/N to the group chat?”
Jieun blinked, her smile faltering. “Oh, uh, I’m not sure. I thought I added everyone.”
“You sure? Because she’s not there,” Jungkook said, his voice sharpening. “There's no way Y/N will miss this party if she gets the invitation.”
Jieun’s face froze, but she quickly plastered on a nervous smile. “What? No, of course not! I did invite her—”
Jungkook opens his mouth to say something but cancel it. He excuses himself to the toilet but actually he went to a quieter part of the restaurant.
A movement across the restaurant caught his eye. A very familiar figure through the glass window, he saw you walking across the street, heading toward the train station. You were bundled up in a coat, your bag slung over your shoulder, your steps slow and steady.
Jungkook froze, watching you from the shadows. He wanted to call out, to chase after you but his feet stayed rooted to the ground. What could he say? He had ignored you, doubted you, and push you away.
All he could do was watch your retreating figure disappear into the distance.

Ezequiel felt his heart in his mouth. He was afraid to ring the doorbell, although he doubted that standing at the door of the building would help him.
People had talked a lot about them, with their theories and photos accompanying the rumors. He was afraid that Lando had invited him to his department in Monaco just to tell him that he didn't want those rumors to continue. Let them not see each other again to let people forget that at some point, something happened between them.
Instantly, Sacha's voice telling him to go talk to Norris before assuming anything scolded him.
He rang the bell. There was no turning back.
—Eze. —Their hearts betrayed them again. An accelerated pace, blushing their cheeks, curling their lips without them being able to do anything to stop it.
—Lan. —hearing his nickname coming from his mouth gave him some peace of mind.
In the elevator, they were quiet, nervous, but a little less afraid. Lando, with his hands behind his back, leaning against the metal wall, swaying in place, Ezequiel, with his hands clasped in front, playing with his thumbs, waiting impatiently.
When they were sitting on the couch in the living room, the situation was not very different, with both of them shifting in their places.
—Sorry for leaving suddenly. —he began before Norris said anything. —I- I was scared. —he confessed, going on to explain his concern with his work, with someone on his team saying something to the press and it affecting him. His fear of continuing to develop their relationship and that he would lose his seat in Formula One because of him.
The one with curls tried to let him talk, but when he saw that he was starting to get tangled, he just decided to get his attention again.
He thought about what would be the best way to silence him, and his only response was:
—¿Eh-? —Norris laughed. —You kiss me...? —
—Yeah. —He nodded, still holding the older man's face in his hands. God, he had missed him. —They can fuck themselves, Eze. I don't really care. I want you. —
—But‐ Oh my God... —He placed his hands on the British's hands. —Am I dreaming? —he asked almost with fear.
—No, I don't think so. —He laughed before Torres asked him for a second kiss, which he granted without hesitation.
If McLaren or the FIA were to put any kind of obstacle in his life and career by choosing Ezequiel, he would be sad, but he would never regret it. Lose him again? No. Now that he had him in his arms again, after months of missing his presence, he wouldn't let anything or anyone take them away.
Everything had happened too quickly, and they knew that now they had to work on communication and the time they could dedicate to the relationship, but they would do it, and together.
Lando couldn't stop repeating how much he missed him, how afraid he was that he would never see him again, that he wouldn't even want to write to him. Ezequiel laughed, answering that he had thought the same thing.
«I want us to try it. I want to make us work» Norris could get those words tattooed, along with the date. It was one of the happiest days of his life.

You’re as Beautiful as the Day I Lost You
“I… I know what you’re going to say, General,” Cody started out slowly. “How could I have done it? Kill you after everything we’ve been through… or at least, attempt to?”
His commanding officer… no, former commanding officer only stared at him, wide gaze unreadable. His face looked worn, his hair was more white than auburn, and even the humble desert structure behind him seemed wildly out of character. Yet Cody would never forget those bright blue eyes that put every sky Cody had ever seen to shame.
The stifling silence prompted Cody to continue. “W-well… I was given an order, General! F-from the Emperor… n-no, the Chancellor himself!” He had to remind himself that Palpatine was only the humble High Chancellor of the Republic at the time of the order. The simple fact reminded him just how drastically the galaxy had changed that day. “Good soldiers follow orders, that’s what we were always taught! Follow orders or risk being decommissioned! I was acting on instinct - we all were! I’m not even sure we were entirely aware of what we were doing at the time. If we knew what would become of the Republic, I promise you, we never would have done it!”
It was somewhat of the truth, though not the whole truth. The whole truth was that he wasn’t exactly sure what had happened. Before the order from the Chancellor came through, he had been excited about the potential prospect of the war finally ending. After the order came through, all he could think about was shooting down his General and every other Jedi he saw. Part of him at the time had screamed traitors, enemies to the Republic, shoot them down, kill them all.
The other part of him, which had been much quieter than the other part, had whispered why, how could you, they were your allies, your friends.
The only traitor here is you.
He shook himself to rid himself of the memory. It was the truth, yes, but it wasn’t a good enough explanation.
Though for what he and his brothers had done, he feared that there never would be a good enough explanation.
“I-I know I wronged you very badly…” He stuttered, having not thoroughly thought out this part of his speech. Part of him had doubted he’d even get through his poor attempt at an explanation for his actions before his former Jedi slid his lightsaber through his chest. “A-and I’m sorry that it took me so long to question the order. I thought that the Empire sought to bring the peace that the Republic failed to, we all did… most of us still do, I believe. Though the things I’ve seen have caused me to think to the contrary…”
With a start, he realized just how close Obi-Wan had gotten to him. Somewhere during his clumsy speech, the former Jedi had started moving towards him, his boots moving like whispers along the sand. His hands hung limply at his sides as he continued to stare at Cody; he wasn’t reaching for a weapon, yet, but Cody felt his panic spike all the same.
“What we did - what I did was wrong, I realize that now!” He claimed loudly, scuttling backwards two steps for every step Obi-Wan took forwards. His escape attempts were quickly shut down - one flex from Obi-Wan’s fingers and he was stuck in place, his limbs refusing to listen to his frantic commands to move. He may have been living on Tatooine, the hellhole of the galaxy, for years at this point, but he was still every bit the Jedi Cody had fought beside.
Had commanded his men to shoot down.
Obi-Wan still hadn’t said anything, his expression betraying nothing as he kept Cody in place with nothing more than his mind. Cody found his patience wearing thin. With everything that had happened, with everything that he was laying bare in front of him, he believed he was owed some emotion. “Stop being such a Jedi, sir!” He growled in his face. Obi-Wan was quickly closing the distance between them, causing Cody’s tone to switch from annoyed to full on frantic. “Go on - shout, scream, say something!”
With only a few inches between them, Obi-Wan did finally do something. He reached out and laid his hand on Cody’s cheek.
Cody’s eyes went wide at the contact. He still couldn’t move, but the same could not be said for Obi-Wan. His calloused fingers twitched over Cody’s skin, tracing the ridges of his scar and the new wrinkles that had popped during his service to the Empire. His bright blue eyes scanned Cody from head to toe, taking in his unruly streaked hair and the desert attire he had thrown together from various sources. His chest and torso, the latter a little thicker than the last time Cody had seen him, heaved with quick, short breaths.
The entire time, Cody couldn’t move, couldn’t blink, couldn’t breathe. He didn’t dare to, lest he break whatever spell was currently keeping Obi-Wan from killing him. He couldn’t tell if it was the Force or his own desperate will at this point.
It was only when Obi-Wan finished his inspection of Cody did he finally show emotion. He fixed his bright blue eyes on Cody’s wide brown ones and smiled warmly. He brought his face, weary and lined from the years spent in the desert, close enough for Cody to count the tears starting to drip down his cheeks. His cracked lips separated and he spoke in a mere whisper, “My dear Cody… you’re as beautiful as the day I lost you.”
A broken gasp filled the air between them, and it took a minute for Cody to realize that it had come from him. The Force hold that had been keeping him in place finally dissipated, but it didn’t matter. With those simple words, the dam he had been building since he had first met the great Obi-Wan Kenobi came tumbling down. Every lovesick emotion he had beaten down, every declaration of devotion he had swallowed, every small act of kindness he had convinced himself was one of duty instead of love, every overwhelming feeling of guilt he had felt since the day he’d ordered his execution… it filled him up so completely that he couldn’t move even if he wanted to.
The crushing wave of emotion reached his eyes, causing his own tears to well up and fall. Unable to deal with it all at once, he squeezed his eyes shut and allowed his head to lower until it rested against his chest. From beyond the darkness of his eyes, he heard Obi-Wan exhale a shaky breath of his own. Cody felt him move his fingers down his cheek until he was cupping his chin, gently pressing his face upwards. He thought that would be it, but he suddenly felt the soft pressure of two lips meeting his own, accompanied by the warm brush of facial hair.
Cody allowed himself to relax into the sensation, allowed it to tame the wave of emotion. When he felt Obi-Wan pull away, he finally opened his eyes, though made no move to wipe his tears. The warmth of Obi-Wan’s fingers disappeared from his chin, trailing down his chest to interlace with his own. The two of them simply stood there amongst the sand and the heat, smiling through their tears at each other.
Cody thought he would never be here. During the war, it had been unspeakable - he was a clone, one of many faces, whereas Obi-Wan was a Jedi. After the order came through, he had been positive Obi-Wan was dead, had seen him tumble off the cliff himself. When he finally started to question the order, he was devastated that he’d killed Obi-Wan without ever telling him his feelings. It wasn’t until he’d heard the passing mention of a desert hermit by the name of Ben Kenobi that he finally allowed himself to hope.
The Empire was still a problem, he was very well aware of that. Both of them were wanted men now, Cody even more so because the Empire was at least aware that he was alive. But now, with the sands of Tatooine around them and the twin Suns shining overhead, the threat of the Empire seemed so far away, and Cody couldn’t care less.
Because after so very long, he finally had his Jedi.
—————
After reading so many Codywan fanfics, I finally wrote one of my own! That one scene from How to Train Your Dragon 2 has always been one of my favorites from the series, and I wondered how it would look as a Codywan scenario.
Codywan fans, how did I do?

117 for 🌲:
---
It takes another minute or so of Buck holding Chris for him to calm down. For his breathing to regulate. Just like his father. Except the temperature doesn’t drop and leaves don’t appear from nowhere. Because this is just a normal panic attack. Brought on by a heap of extra trauma Christopher doesn’t deserve. And Eddie can’t be here right now to help him through it. So Buck will do everything he possibly can. He’ll do anything to help him.
But he also has Eddie to think about. And while Eddie’s only priority would be Chris, Buck will always prioritize Eddie. He has to figure out how to help both of them.
“You must be hungry,” Buck says when Chris finally calms down.
“Yeah,” Chris nods.
“Why don’t we find something to eat and drink?” Buck asks. “We can deal with everything else later.”
🌲
Eddie listens to everything his mother has to say. He doesn’t interrupt. He’s not looking for an argument here. He’s looking to buy time. Time and information.
He doesn’t drink the tea she makes. He gets himself a glass of water instead. Honestly, he’s surprised when clear, clean water comes out. He’d been half-expecting algae, with the state of this house. Luckily, the plumbing seems unimpacted.
His mother tells a story longer than he’d particularly needed to hear. Eddie had wanted a concise summary of need-to-know information. But it works, because Sophia has enough time to clean and bandage the wound to their dad’s throat.
Eddie doesn’t know what to think of the story. He doesn’t know what to trust. She’s proven herself a liar. Someone who manipulates the truth and omits information. But a lot of what she’s saying sounds like it could be true. The details about where she’s from, and how they connect to where Adriana was unknowingly dumping bodies. Her sister, disappearing and dying in a similar way to how Adriana disappeared and may have died. It all makes sense.
“You had a responsibility to tell us,” Sophia accuses at one point.
“No,” Helena shakes her head. “I was protecting you.”
“I don’t feel very protected,” Adriana replies flatly.
“Neither do I,” Eddie says. “At least not by you.”
“You wouldn’t have ever needed to know!” Helena protests. “If you’d all just listened to me! I did everything to try to get you to stay here and avoid this!”
“Are you kidding?” Eddie asks. “You think going to Los Angeles is what did this to me? Not my child being taken from me?”
“That’s not what happened,” she says. “He called us, Eddie. Did I trick you into traumatizing him, too?”
“You had him in that room writing nothing over and over. He couldn’t stop. He couldn’t think for himself. Why would I believe anything now?” Eddie practically spits.
Sophia looks appalled. “Mom, why would you do that to him? He’s a kid.”
“He was being irrational!” She defends herself. “They both were. They both… I just needed them to stop. I needed them to listen. I could have kept him safe, Eddie. I could have. You didn’t.”
And that sort of makes Eddie snap. Lose his cool. Forget what they’re trying to do here.
“Well, I hope you’re fucking happy, because you’re never going to see him again!” Eddie seethes.
“Eddie,” Adriana cautions.
“You will never hurt him or me again for making choices you disagree with!” He continues, ignoring his sister. “That’s life, Mom. We get fucking free will.”
“And it gets you, what?” She shouts back. “Shot? Mixed up in miserable relationships? You don’t listen. Eventually, learning the hard way gets you killed!”
“Better than being stuck with you!” Eddie sort of explodes.
Helena tenses and looks around the room. Like she’s about to do something. Make good on her threat to kill their dad. Sophia lurches back a little, from her chair, facing their father. His hand is shaking around the knife. She looks terrified.
“Okay, everyone stop,” Adriana commands. “Mom, shut up. Eddie, calm down. I’ve had enough of this.”
Everybody looks at her.
“Here’s what’s going to happen.”
🍂
“I didn’t want to go to Texas. Or maybe I did… I don’t actually really remember.”
Chris just sort of begins talking while they’re eating. They’re at one of those open-all-night diners. Kind of sketchy, but otherwise mostly empty. Buck told him to order whatever he wanted. And it turns out, Chris is hungry. Very hungry. He gets a big platter with eggs and breakfast sausages. Home fries and toast. A milkshake on the side. Buck doesn’t care. He’ll buy him the whole diner if he has to.

Something about the S6 finale paralleling the S5 one, Eddie is with someone who is there to "fix" things. And then season 7 ends with Marisol gone, and Buck is still there, because he stayed, because Eddie didn't just need SOMEONE he could fix things with. He needs BUCK.

working in a factory has you thinking so much about the insane chain of labor & transport that goes into making literally anything
#like first you realize that You are making & doing things that you previously had thought - if you'd thought abt it at all - were automated#& you become incredibly aware of how all the materials you're working with came from somewhere - these plastic clips are from france; this#fabric is from india etc. and that there are people in factories there making those things and that they are also probably getting their#materials from somewhere#one of the little things that makes me think about this the most is we have these 50m rolls of cotton banding we see onto canvas & nets#and in theory it should be all one piece but sometimes it's actually two pieces which you discover when you get far enough in the roll and#find that there's a join where it's been stitched together by hand (!). which is a little annoying bc we can't use that bit so you have#to cut that but out & stitch it together again on the machine which interrupts what you were sewing before & slows you down But it's so#striking to me bc like it's really easy to look at this banding & it's so exactly the same & obviously machine made it's Really easy to#forget that there are people there running these machines. who notice there's a break & have to stop what they're doing & get a needle &#thread and stitch it together. by hand! like someone somewhere has handled exactly where I'm touching it & i don't even know where in the#world they are!#the other place this happens is often on the selvedge edge of the fabric there's writing in pencil i don't know ye meaning of but evidently#was important to the process somewhere & someone wrote that out#idk like it's really easy to watch those videos of really specific machines in factories & convince yourself that everything is automated#but the truth is the vast majority of stuff is not & is made by people doing that. & even when it is there are people running those machine#<- and i'm not saying this in a soppy way tbc. this whole system is a nightmare of exploitation & to some degree I'm just continually amaze#by how insane this whole process is & also how completely un-transparent it is unless you are made to think abt it#another thing is noticeable when you look at our orders that most of what we sell isn't to customers it's to shops who then sell to custome#which then makes you think like. those plastic clips from france are they actually made in france or are we just buying them from france?#are they actually made by underpaid people in a country the name of which is completely lost to the chain of production at this point#anyways none of this is new it's just when you are working in a factory using this stuff you start wondering like.#what's the factory like that the person who stitched this banding together like. what's their day like there#wish we could talk abt how fucked up this all is - for them especially probably - together#thoughts

#yes those are uyai’s tags in the color theory post like. YESSSS#because at the end of the day.. they are still the same person they used to be before they decided to change for the better.#the past doesn’t define u but. its still part of u. u did it regardless. the person of the past is still u.#LORE SPEAKING: they may have created their own color wheel and decided to do and say their own thing that has nothing to do with i#but they were still the naive and brainwashed angels they most likely pretend they dont exist bc they are not them anymore. but they are☝️#at the end of the day it all goes back to the beginning#IRL SPEAKING: they went thru a looooot predebut so they just dont rlly acklowedge (idk how to write that) their past#or their traumas. or their sins. because its fine they are not the same anymore. BUT THEY ARE! they still are#for example kaia thinks shes ok bc her past actions dont define her anymore. mf killed someone ofc her past will weight her down#despite howww bad she pretends that shes not that person anymore bc she is better now#but well! she still is the same person who killed nari! and thats something she has to accept#amaybe she continues having trouble accepting it bc “current me could never do that”. and well she did anyway!#blahblahblah#whatever that means dulce!#anyway. thats why in their color wheel they aren’t really that different fron their initial color#yeah they changed but they are still the same shade because their principal color is still part of them#this is why i really love the whole nostalgia essence in hiraeth bc it goes well with their lore / irl#ur past will always be part of u even if u forget it. even if u barely remember. even if u think that it didnt happen. thats still UR past#and thats why i luv the time loop concept too bc every new era is a new life but everything is still connected to the past eras#because they are still the same silly little angels 🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧🤧 even if they remember or not!#q.

some of you should not speak on dennis until you've rewatched sunny in full instead of just the macden-centric eps.
#literally not even a matter of like. different interpretations it's just some of y'all forget literal canon events that disprove shit#i get schooled by people abt den too i have my weaknesses w writing him#but like oh my god#some of y'all would be better off if you looked at him outside of a macden context#he's not evil incarnate#he's fucked up and he does awful shit#but that is a little boy wearing an adult face#to just make him evil for no reason completely removes any interesting bits of him.#one of the keys to sunny's writing is that#rcg always makes sure that motivation is understandable *in that character's eyes*#dennis has a very specific purpose for everything he does#he isn't just cruel for no fucking reason#he's 'brutally honest' because he thinks its his duty to break the news#he's absolutely entitled and arrogant and misogynistic#but he doesn't set out to be Mean just for the sake of it#den thinks he is doing good. he thinks he's in the right. its not him it's everyone else.#he's doing you a favour by saying you're ugly (and propping up his own decimated self esteem)#that being said he's also not innocent pookie either#but i would say its like. in a lot of ways he IS oblivious to the reality of what hes saying/doing#part of that is his privilege as a white man who grew up being supported by and continues to be supported by his parent's wealth#but the gang enables the shit he does just as frank financially enables him#they are so insular it's like impossible to break out of the gang and interact with normal people#because if they don't get it then dennis is going straight back to the gang to feel validated and to hell w everyone else#on some level he knows shit is unacceptable but he's never learned Why and never will because theres no reason to#like when mac is completely fucking shocked by den talking abt the implication dennis CANNOT let that go unchecked#he needs mac to understand him because he's realizing that it's *actually* fucked up. bc even mac thinks so.#and when dee calls what happened with klinsky Rape everything IMMEDIATELY crumbles for him#dennis is introspective but he will justify shit and compartmentalize until his friends challenge it#he looks to media; tv and movies where the protagonist gets away with shit because its schlock fiction#and dennis DOES see himself as a protagonist. it's all justifiable bc he's the good guy.
