Ngl I think one of the things that scared me from watching the new seasons was that kind of fear

I was told that the new seasons were bad, that they just made Lloyd daddy issues central and ruined Garmadon's character and Harumi was terrible and sucked (which I won't touch on but I feel like one of the people who gets harumis character can better explain why the hate around her is. Well. Kind of rooted in a deeper issue)

And have I seen them yet? No, I'm working on it (please don't yell at me again I prommy I am /lh)

But like... From what I do know from Tumblr posts and such the progression of Lloyd and Garmadon's relationship not only makes sense but also deepens their interactions in a lot of ways

Like S1 also already shows Lloyd has the start of daddy issues (asking Garmadon why he abandoned him for one, yelling at him for stealing, generally his relationship with Garm has its complications he just isn't fully ready to discuss them)

And so I think having that shift, going from wanting nothing more than his father's attention and pride, to having to fight him, to having him back only to lose him again (by Lloyd's own hand no less!), to lose him in another way and have their relationship shattered.... Is so much more compelling and tragic for his character. It adds so much depth that was not there before

And for their relationship, each time Lloyd HAS to interact with Garmadon, you know that has to be eating at him. That constant thought of the father he HAD versus the man his father now is. A man who would never hurt him before has become a monster and he no longer recognizes him

Add to that the fact that Garmadon doesn't seem to fucking remember that chapter of his life and you have an epically tragic, compelling father/son relationship and a Lloyd who must constantly be grappling with conflicting emotions of who he is, who his father is, and him being scared of becoming like his father

None of this is even getting into what I'm sure is a maturation arc for Lloyd and him dealing with multiple other traumas (Morros possession, Harumis betrayal, the multiple things that happen with Garm)

I also wanna reiterate this is what I know from Tumblr but if anyone who is not a fake fan wants to correct me please God do, I'll edit the post or whatever is necessary

gonna be honest… i don’t like the ninjago fandom outside of tumblr. it’s like they’re the people who don’t make an effort to understand anything outside of their own reality. i just saw someone literally ranting about how lloyd needs to stop being mad at garmadon because it’s “not a big deal” and “old design lloyd would never”.

One thing I was always curious about going forward into future seasons was the prospect of a 'trial’ or reunification of the Silvergrove. It felt like a no-brainer the Silvergrove would have to change in order to reflect Runaan’s character arc, much the way we see Katolis and the Sunfire elves change to better accommodate the new, more compassionate world order. Pre-S4 a trial felt a little strange as an idea, though post-S4 the parallels it could provide to the Lucia tribunal made more sense about why include either (or both). However, Leola’s trial seemed to hammer home the almost necessity (as this is still a prediction, after all, that may not happen) of Rayla and/or Runaan saying their piece to the Silvergrove leaders. This would be a great opportunity to provide a contrast to the Cosmic Council, reaffirming that Xadia is ultimately better than them because the Moonshadow elves and everyone else can change, and the Cosmic Council seemingly cannot or will not. But I guess we’ll have to wait for S7 or beyond (#GiveUsTheSaga) to find out if this’ll come to fruition or not.
