7x09 THOUGHTS???

I have no thoughts. I am in shock. Actually no I do have thoughts.

- Tommy pisses me off SO SO BAD. His negative attitude brings down the mood in literally every scene I do not understand why he’s like this if we’re meant to be rooting for him as bucks love interest? (Spoiler: we’re not).

- Athena approaching Amir as a way to help Bobby feel better about himself is/was wrong and she could have gone to a whole number of other people instead. I love mother Athena but Bobby/Amir had every right to react the ways that they did. I also firmly do not believe that Amir started the house fire, it’s gotta be the cartel (the old guy from the car) or a plot twist other character.

- I’ve rambled enough on here already about my thoughts on the batshit Kim/Eddie situation so I won’t repeat myself too much but. Good lord. Kim matches that man’s freak and takes it ten steps further. I saw a theory that Kim is going to become a bit psycho obsessed with Eddie and not know how to let him go. I don’t really think this is likely (though who tf knows what to expect the minute) but I do like the idea. It sounds fun, crazy Kim is a wild ride and I wouldn’t mind more yaknow?

However, I was heart BROKEN when Chris came in, that poor boy does not deserve the feelings he’s about to feel. I sincerely hope this whole drama doesn’t badly damage his and Eddies relationship :(

Also as much hatred as I have for Marisols actress, her actual character is harmless and I do feel bad for her too- I will defend Eddie with my LIFE but his actions reaaallly are having some serious consequences on those around him. I hope he sorts himself out soon and can somehow make amends.

- HenRen and their kids… my HEART ACHES for them so bad. I can’t help but feel like this storyline is a little bit forced? Like the councilwoman so easily getting their adoption/foster case halted and the judge doesn’t see a conflict of interest there? All her “evidence” that she present against Hen can be debunked so easily. I do feel confident that HenRen will win their appeal and Mara will come home safe and sound. But I hope there are real consequences for the councilwoman acting like this over her druggy son who REFUSED GODDAMN TREATMENT AND GOT PEOPLE KILLED (or was that just almost?) ugh.

- in terms of buddie/bt. I want BT bones like.. last week. But I do think it’s coming, that stale ass interview, their lack of scenes, Tommys complete void of any character/kindness and Buck prioritising Eddie as he goes through his struggle, all point to BT bones either next episode, in between S7/8 or early S8 at the latest. I cannot wait.

Buddie needs more time to cook. I KNOW we’re desperate for it and have already been waiting a long long time, but it needs time. It would be too rushed and out of place and kinda risks being tone deaf if it were to happen right now/too soon. Eddie needs to get through this and be in a better place before their relationship can develop healthily.

That isn’t to say they can’t feed us more Eddie/Buck or BuckleyDiaz family scenes in the meantime though… really bring this simmer to a boil 🥰

Just some S8 excitement/mishmash

Tommy S8 confirmation!!!! We knew he was going to be in it but the trickle of doubt, the naysayers whispers, is gone!!!!

And Buck and Tommy are still strong(Literally no doubt about that) and we'll see some of the getting to know each other stage still!!! The backend S7 was just so full and every plotline suffered as they vied for screentime. I miss them together on my computer monitor sososo much.

And I'm so excited for Madney as foster parents and debating having another kid and Henren getting their daughter back and the Wilson-Han family. And Hotshots meta! I've laughed so hard at so many Hotshots posts on my tumblr dash. I need the fandom to be called out via Hotshots. I need Kim and Taylor to be involved with Hotshots. I need to see Bobby be like "This is so not right. This isn't realistic" but also be throwing out shit the 118 did and be told "Nah, too crazy. Too expensive. Too one in a million chance."

I am so excited for Hotshots lbr.

I cannot wait to see Buck learn to deal with Gerrard. Have to deal, for the first time ever, with not being the white cishet guy he was for 32 years. Have to realize that not everyone wants to change. Having to deal with a new longterm captain that's not Bobby. And that this man left scars on the man he's falling in love with. Like his fire father guided him home to family, and that family led him to Tommy, Tommy's fire father left claw marks that left scars that haunts him even now. And Buck's fire father almost left without a word.

It'll be a story of men and their fire fathers. Of scars and love, of horrific words and memories, of being left and starting anew, and finding family and true love.

Gerrard could never be anyone but Buck's main storyline. Not with the Bobby and the Tommy of it all.

And Eddie and Chris. It goes without saying. We've been waiting all summer to find out how Eddie fixes this mess. I am, very thrilled, to hear whispers that Bobby's priest is coming back for Eddie. I think there's a ton of ways religion could go for Eddie and I'm open for whatever way they choose(I'd be happily surprised if he chooses to embrace it? But also what if he realizes he's attracted to "hot" priest?)

But also top priority is new Bathena home for family picnics. Plastered with no Gerrards allowed signs, of course. And who comes back into Athena's life...?

I'm just bouncing around waiting for for S8.

Season 8 speculation

Here’s my own speculation on what is going to happen in s8 based partly on wishful thinking but also because TM likes to do the unexpected while also calling back to earlier episodes:-

Chim and Hen both get transferred out to different stations. Chim possibly to the academy as a trainer instead of a regular station. Either way, they’re not at the 118 anymore under Gerrard. The fandom is so focused on what their lives are going to be like working under Gerrard again that I think TM is going to flip things on us and they’re not going to be working under him at all. They’ve both already done that before and they’re both much stronger, wiser and more mature now. They won’t take his shit and so we won’t see it. It’ll be more dramatic to take them out of the equation completely and split the 118 up.

Eddie is in a dark place because Chris is still living in Texas. He’s aware things are not great with Gerrard but he’s not focused on it, he’s just trying to keep his head above water in his personal life. Call back to Tommy saying he didn’t like who he was working under Gerrard – Eddie cannot handle anything else, so he falls into his old military mindset and toes the line at work. Does whatever Gerrard says, doesn’t talk back etc etc. Inadvertently becomes Gerrard’s golden boy because of it though he barely even notices. I’d love for that to cause issues between him and Buck but I think their relationship is too strong for that. But then TM has surprised us all before so who knows.

It takes a while before Gerrard realizes that Buck is dating Tommy but once he does, he starts making Buck’s life hell at work in the small ways he did back in the day with Hen and Chim. Who aren’t there to support Buck, and Eddie doesn’t seem to notice, and so Buck flounders. He’s never experienced constant, relentless homophobia like that before. How would he react? Does he try to hide who he is like Tommy did while working under Gerrard, or does he instead flaunt it? Does it wear him down and make him withdraw into himself? Or do we finally see some real growth for his character and see him standing up for himself without any support from his coworkers? (I’m assuming Tommy is supporting him bts but perhaps not against Gerrard personally. Tommy has his own past demons about the man to deal with).

Call back to 3x16 when Buck says “Yeah, like if Bobby retired. [sic] You know, or one of us got moved to another house, we would still all stay in touch” and Buck’s seeking reassurance that that won’t happen to them. Which they don’t actually give him, btw. Fast forward to the end of s7 and what’s Bobby done? Retired. Sure, he changed his mind and wants to come back but as of now in canon he is retired. So, I’m waiting to see some or all of them transferred to other houses and the 118 be completely separated either physically or in Eddie’s case mentally if he stays working in the same house as Buck.

They did it in Lonestar already and we know the shows have echoed themes before (whumpable chaos coma besties TK & Buck anyone?). The drama potential of it happening to the 118 is enticing. It would affect all of them in different ways and who knows we might even get that Buck breakdown we’ve been wanting for years. There are so many ways all of their storylines could go before we finally get that sweet sweet resolution and see Gerrard get the karmic slap he has to have coming – because that’s something else that 911 loves, dispensing karma to those who deserve it.

I haven’t even mentioned the whole Bathena being homeless or HenRen losing Mara storylines, but I know those will come into play again in s8 and I am excited to see where things go with them, too.

I also really hope that Gerrard was the arsonist and that we get more of the 118 losing their homes to arson (cough cough Buck’s loft) and perhaps even the station itself. Far fetched? Possibly. We’ve had more insane things happen on this show, though.

I’ve deliberately not speculated on the BuckTommy or Buddie of it all because quite frankly I’m tired of the shipwar. I’m content to wait and see where TM goes with that. What I’m excited for is to see how the dynamics of Gerrard and every member of the 118 play out during s8.

natsume yuujinchou s7: ep 1 ramblings

a rambling for all my favorite moments and thoughts to the premiere episode of natsuyuu s7! op and ending included. welcome back natsume yuujinchou anime!!!!!

beware of ep 1 spoilers below the cut:

the op starting off with natsume, happily riding a bike, that he learned through friends, with nyanko sensei sitting in the basket has me sooooooo emotional. what i love about the op is how joyful natsume looks. how past op's had scenes that depicted his hardships and his loneliness, but this one really focused on his happiness, the friends, both human and yokai, he has made along the journey, those that he treasures deeply. i love how natsume has a smile throughout it.

obligatory mention of these two; i cannot wait until their chapter(s) get animated this season.

CRYING SOBBING REIKO!!!!!!! natsume's hand! i LOVE how its depicted as reiko reaching out to natsume and him grabbing onto her hand. i sobbed. this undoubtedly was my favorite part of the op.

this manga chapter was one of my favorites simply for the iconic mini sensei vessel and i'm glad to see it animated. when the opening played of the baseball shattering the sculpture, i already could feel myself tearing up a bit for what's to come. thankfully, the episode eases us into it and there's so many wholesome and hilarious moments leading up to it.

i have so many words for the ed. i love the transition between seasons. the art style used. my most favorite part is the final bit with the dandelions and the camera angle pans with the flowers flying.

my overall thoughts on season 7, writing edition: what in the world ? 😭 i cannot believe i thought this season was gonna be good. i’ll be joining rohan & S2 MC in the circus, since FB made me look like a damn clown. i don't even know where to begin

being a casa girl had so much potential, and it was something that a lot of players actually wanted, even before FB started doing these themed seasons. they really fumbled the bag here

i enjoyed casa amor. the guys were all unique, had their own dialogue, and it was cool to see their pre-established relationships (alex being the villa dad, bryson and rafa being partners in chaos, the beef between bryson & joyo) then we arrived in the villa, and it all went downhill from there:

everybody became an empty husk, so they could be forced into interchangeable roles: uma’s partner, bonnie’s partner, OG LI’s ex, loved up couple (summer/joyo or #rafne) to name a few. FB’s lazy asses ruined their own characters . why is alex, the supposed level-headed & mature one, being petty & childish af in my playthrough? 😭

MC literally had no thoughts, head empty. we barely participated in any of the challenges and games. it felt like we didn't do anything besides "get pulled for a chat" by your LI or the girls

the LI personality merge in this season was the worst it has ever been. all they do is agree with whatever you say, or tell you how great you are (gone are the days of LIs having their own interests, & getting extra dialogue because of that, like levi with artist MCs)

same problem as the most recent seasons, where MC doesn’t have friendships. she has a forced bestie, then potential LIs that sit around waiting for you to pick them, choose them, love them (they immediately disappear if you don’t pick them)

the plot made no sense at all. being a casa girl means we miss out on the first half of the season, but there were many different ways they could've shown what happened before we arrived (it couldve been something as simple as MC watching the show at home or during the jeep ride to the villa. lol) the timeline was inconsistent, so much important information was paywalled, and i’m pretty sure FB was just making shit up as they went along, since the drama with stephen and OG LI's ex genuinely came out of nowhere . he wasn’t previously mentioned in the beach hut, casa amor, nothing . his only purpose was to make the OG girl look bad.

speaking of the OG girls, what a disappointment . before we got to the villa, i honestly thought they were hinting at estelle and/or willow being LIs . even if they were forced to be our rival, they still could’ve had an interesting character arc . it would've been a lot more fun if she was like allegra, rather than OG LI's equivalent of suresh

i was gonna write, "why tf did she even make it to the finale?" but the answer is obvious : for the gem scenes. every damn volume, it's pay diamonds to upstage her, pay diamonds to clapback, pay diamonds so “your man” doesn't turn his head 🙄 it's already stupid enough, but it makes even less sense if you're not pursuing your OG LI

which leads me to the biggest problem of this season, the lack of branching. you're given the illusion of choice, everything leads to the same outcome . i didn't think it could get any worse, until i saw what happens when you choose the money . does your LI storm off? nope. they make you do the treasure hunt anyways...to win you back ??😭 MC should've called security on their ass

s7 had a promising start but ended up being a flop. it was better than s5, but that's really not saying much . i wish FB would just take their time—s1 and 2 had a whole year long gap between them. but it's clear that rushed seasons are gonna be the norm, season 8 is dropping in february . capitalism ruins everything luv x

S7 😭 I can't imagine waiting that long. Personally, the progression makes sense to me considering they kept going through HUGE events. Like first Wukong was literally POSSESSED. And Macky, instead of ditching, protected the kid and faced him head on 🫡 And Wukong as a person, honestly can NOT hold grudges against his former friends/enemies. He feels BAD for what he does to them, and misses them tons. Like with DBK! He outright says "I honestly missed that guy" whatever Macky did to him couldn't have been any crazier than DBK wrecking the city, forced to be contained, or fighting the Brotherhood. Especially because Wukong loved Macky 10 times more. Then he got blasted with a thousand suns of nostalgia and regrets in a scroll until his spirit was crushed and Macky's own down bad behavior started coming out because he is ALSO a pathetic loser who misses having actual connections with people. Especially if their name is Wukong because holding rage inside is just a poison expecting the other person to get burned. They were still bickering and fighting in S5 but with development! With attempted restraint and cooldowns! And then Wukong went through A Horrible No Good Time yet again like what is there to possibly argue about then when there's so many regrets you have and the WORLD IS LITERALLY ENDING AS WE DON'T SPEAK. So hold hands, and hope that communicates everything. There is no more room for teasing and avoiding each other at that point and pretending to be annoyed so you don't have to touch that ol pandora's box of feelings. COMPLETELY against your desire for slow burn, I fully hope they hug in S6 and both of them cry and we finally confirm what happened. The writers cannot get away with teasing us like this pLEASE- the most redacted of snippets ;-;

i just think slow burns are neat, anon. and shadowpeach fits that bill. i will not mind at all if their relationship progresses faster than my assumptions bc a lot of them were made under the impression that the relationship food i wanted would be met with heavy hesitance by a Western show own by a giant toy company who cares more about profit than anything 🤷🏻‍♀️

and yet here we are! the train chugging at full speed when i expected a 3 hour delay that is typical in the entertainment station

I just started rewatching Legends of Tomorrow. I’ve never actually finished the show (I fell behind in early season 6 and just never caught up), and so much time has passed that I decided to start from the beginning. I’m only in early season 2, but there’s so much I had forgotten. I had always remembered season 1 as being the weakest seasons of the ones I’ve watched, and somewhere along the way, my brain had equated “weakest” to “not good” but it really is a good season, I just think the other seasons are better once they really embraced the ridiculous (I cannot wait to reach the Beebo or puppet episodes). Anyway, I’m really glad I decided to start a rewatch since I had forgotten how much I enjoyed it, and fingers cross that I don’t get distracted before I actually finish it.

OK so, I've been following you for a bit and obviously I have seen the 911 canon bi dude flailing and I am interested, because I like procedurals and also canon bi guys (and canon bi girls obvs). HOWEVER I feel kinda bad because I cannot tell the different buff, brown haired, white dudes apart in the gifs and I want to know if they are more easily distinguishable in the show (distinct voices and/or mannerisms) or if you just get used to it? (love the enthusiasm btw, it's great to see on my dash, i love people genuinely loving things)

… oh my god, okay, so, fun (and actually unrelated) fact — my mom started watching the show before i did, so i saw bits and pieces of a few episodes before i committed to Watching, and i distinctly remember asking her how she could tell buck and eddie apart because i wasn’t sure who was who.

(… it was an episode where the characters were wearing those yellow hazmat suits at the beginning, which Did Not Help)

anyway she started listing off all the differences, and pointed out “first of all, eddie isn’t even white, he’s half mexican” which is SUPER HELPFUL when characters are wearing yellow hazmat suits, let me tell you.

BUT. ANYWAY. i sympathize with going “wait but which one is which, i am Confused”, even if it’s with a different character than i had the issue with.

i will say, they are absolutely more easily distinguishable in the show — it’s hard to tell from the gifsets i’ve been reblogging, but i (personally) would put buck as closer to blond? or like. somewhere between that and actual brown hair. (like, his stubble grows in super fair when we see it. thing.) whereas tommy has super-dark hair/stubble/etc. and they’re very distinct characters from each other, in ways i can’t quite articulate because i’ve been up for an hour already by accident.

(ALSO, as i was reminded, buck has a birthmark above his left eye/eyebrow, and i’m not sure how clear it is in any of the million gifsets i’ve reblogged. i swear i remember mentioning that but apparently i was wrong)

but also, crucially, there is the time element to consider — buck is a main character from the very first episode, he’s in almost every episode of the show, and up until s7 we know tommy from a) three flashback episodes in the second season, showing us what the 118 used to be (starting in 2005, ending in … i wanna say 2017?); he transferred to a different firehouse before the show started, and b) a phone call chimney makes in one episode where he’s calling in a favor, which we only see chim’s side of.

which is to say: i think part of it might genuinely just be “you get used to it”? because by the time tommy shows up and has any time in the same scene as buck, you’ve known buck for six full seasons and the first few episodes of a seventh.

ALSO, oh man, if you like procedurals you will almost definitely love this show. i looooove procedurals, and this is such a good one. it also! in fact! has canon queer rep from the beginning!!! hen is a married black lesbian raising a kid with her wife (who is equally awesome, and also a literal rocket scientist).

Curious have you ever thought that Romelle might have been lying about the colony just so she could have Lotor knocked off since it’s seemed like she immediately stopped caring about the colony entirely in S7 and just tried to inconvenience the Paladins any given chance it just seemed odd how she went from “MuSt AvEnge mY BrUTHer” to ditzy idiot plus the mech pilot in S8 immediately referred to Romelle as a traitor which is a little eyebrow raising

Hi Anon, thank you, that is a good question and yes, I thought about that possibility, as well.

I don’t have much evidence to either support or to deny this theory.

It might very well be that she wanted to take Lotor down out of own interest (we don’t know exactly if it was revenge for Bandor’s death or something else - since we would start from the premise that she lied). There are lots of theories out there about the reasons why she would lie, I read some of them - but I cannot agree or disagree, for the same reasons.

A few notes on the comments about her behavior:

- “she immediately stopped caring about the colony entirely in S7” - I agree that she didn’t express any more emotions regarding her lost family in S7. But Allura didn’t talk much about the heartbreak she’d gone through, either. This might simply be because the show had a limited amount of air time and so much action to pack into it; a lot was cut out in the process.

Also, to her defense, she did ask the Paladins, right at the beginning of S7: “Wait, you just fought Lotor, defeated him, stopped an explosion that could have destroyed reality, took your friend’s consciousness from the Black Lion of Voltron, and put it inside his clone, and now we’re simply moving on?” and Hunk replies: “Trust me, I’m always saying the exact same thing, but these guys like to move on.” Which seems sensible on her part - she wants to pause and maybe grief, rest… But, as Hunk implies, the show must go on, which, as others noted before, might be a subtle hint from the writers, setting the premise for the entire season: they have to push through with more action scenes, there’s no time for sentimentality. Immediately after, Romelle follows the Paladins quietly, and the concern on her face is quite evident. Which might be exactly the explanation to why she doesn’t bring the subject of the colony or her family again.

- “she tried to inconvenience the Paladins at any given chance” - I don’t see much evidence of that. Are you referring to the fact that she brought Lance to exasperation during their trip back to Earth, by trying out all the buttons in his cockpit? LOL, she did act silly but I don’t see any connection between that and her previous actions. People have different personality aspects in different circumstances. Plus, it seems like a good writer’s technique to create goofy moments during the episodes - after all, it’s a show for kids, they had to keep things light here and there. The Paladins acted silly a lot - that doesn’t mean they didn’t miss their families.

Actually, in S7E2, Romelle made herself useful - when Allura’s Lion encounters an attacker, she goes out there and knocks him out.

However, there’s one scene that raised my eyebrow, although it’s not something that would qualify as actively causing an inconvenience to the Paladins. There’s a short exchange between her and Hunk, while riding the back of the Yalmore.

Hunk yells: “This is worse than being bait!”

Romelle replies: “At least then you were the only one in danger!”

Hunk chides her: “Hey, Romelle…!”

This casts a light a little bit into her personality. She might just be that type of person willing to throw someone else under the bus if she had the chance…? Which, a very long shot, but it might be a tiny proof that she somehow conspired against Lotor. Again, not enough proof.

- “she went from “Must avenge my bruther” to ditzy idiot” - I’m circling back to “the show must move on” and the ‘goofy characters in a kids show’ subject. Also, based on the amount of evidence floating around, if the IP owner wanted the show to appeal more to a very young audience, it might explain why Romelle goes from vengeful girl in S6 to silly kid in S7, to a flat character in S8. It might very well be that she had a more serious demeanor initially, we don’t know. But this still doesn’t connect any dots with the possibility of her being a liar.

- “plus the mech pilot in S8 immediately referred to Romelle as a traitor, which is a little eyebrow raising”.

It makes sense that Luca, the mech pilot (also the first acolyte), called Romelle a traitor. Honerva arrived at the colony before Kolivan (who told Keith he found only “an empty facility”) and stirred the Alteans against Voltron. From their perspective, anyone collaborating with Voltron was considered a turncoat, including Allura and Coran, because that’s how Honerva indoctrinated them.

And we know for sure the main settlement was blind about their sister colony because they ask Honerva: “do you know of their whereabouts?” Which means Romelle didn’t lie at least about that part.

We also certainly know Luca was from the main Altean planet, not somehow a survivor from the moon colony, because Honerva clearly established with them that their “sister colony” perished at the “evils” of Voltron (which, as far as we know, it wasn’t Voltron’s doing, but it proves the point that Honerva intentionally manipulates them against the Coalition). Then Honerva requested from Merla: “Find me the most faithful amongst us”. Merla brought her Luca, the first acolyte - which ties to what Allura said about her: “If she was so desperate for something to believe in, it may have made her susceptible to being manipulated.”

Luca, like the rest of the main colony, was completely blind to what Lotor operated on the second colony; she just faithfully followed Honerva.

When Romelle had the discussion with Luca, right at the beginning of S8, the Coalition had no clue who sent out those mechs or what happened to the colony. They only knew that Kolivan found an empty facility. Those mechs could have been Lotor’s for all they knew. Only when Luca says: “You don’t stand a chance against Honerva” do they all find out who’s behind the Komar mech operations. This is confirmed when Allura returns to Atlas, meets Romelle, then discusses with the Paladins and says: “If Honerva sent that beast, then our mission must change.”

If… an Altean from the second colony had called Romelle a “traitor”, then I would have been suspicious. But coming from the people who are clearly manipulated by Honerva, it actually makes sense.

There are other things Romelle might have lied about, though - like her discussions with Bandor, what Bandor told her before dying… and who knows what else. Things that might be crucial to our understanding of Lotor’s second colony.

My other theory is that Romelle really was clueless and just drew erroneous conclusions about Lotor, based on her preexisting bias against him, due to losing not only her brother, but her entire family, who, as she mentioned, had an “unquestioning devotion to a supposed messiah.”

Lotor told everyone when Romelle allegedly “exposed” him: “You know nothing about what you speak.” Which, I think, was said in all honesty. (the EP’s mentioned in some interviews about him that he doesn’t lie, he just goes about things his own way). Based on that, I believe that Romelle being a ditzy idiot might reduce the problem to just that… She knows nothing about what she speaks.

What is clear to many of us who analyzed S8 is that in the second part of the season Romelle becomes a puppet with no lines, just a simple presence - also poorly drawn (over other characters?) and we can only speculate what that means.

Also speculative - but if you read these two articles (in this order), you might see why I came up with my simple theory about Romelle:
