Lights on. Blinds open. On the desk: class roster, schedule, seating chart. His phone, face up in case of incoming notifications. Under it: the familiar yellow nylon of his sleeping bag.

8:15 am. Six years in, and this might be the first time he’s actually early.

This won’t be their classroom for long, more of a home base than anything between trips to the outside world, work studies of the aftermath. The familiarity of UA has always been equal parts comforting and eerie, a dichotomy that has reinvented itself to haunt a whole new generation. Shouta himself has two befores to keep track of, now—before Shirakumo, and before Kurogiri. The irony is not lost on him that he will process the after in pieces in the 2-A homeroom once again. He really should retire, but getting away from UA hadn’t worked out for him last time, either.

Hizashi’s voice echoes down the hallway, loud and getting louder. Shouta can’t hear the other half of his conversation. He could be talking to anyone.

The second hand circles the clock. 8:16 am. UA. After the war.

Time to get to work.

been following your windbreaker posting, and I don't go here (YET), but Suo's design Compels Me enough that I'm thinking of digging in (even though I'm pretty sure he's not the main character).... the answer might just be "it depends" but do you have a rec for checking out manga v anime to figure out if it's a series I wanna dive into?

suo is not the main character but he is a main character! and an absolute delight. getting into wind breaker for suo is a fantastic decision in my very biased book

in terms of anime vs manga, there is certainly some "it depends" there yeah! like personally I'll always start with an anime if there is one, bc my brain is better at taking in info that way

with wind breaker the anime is currently at two relatively short seasons, and then there's quite a lot of manga that leads on from there. what I did was watch the anime to the end, then pick up the manga for the arcs not yet covered by the anime, and I had a great time doing that! (such that I then read the sections of manga for the early stuff too. and then reread the whole thing. and then reread it again-)

the anime is really good imo! it's very pretty and they bring the characters to life really well, and I personally find it a lot easier to get to grips with a cast when there are voices and colour involved. but I don't think you can really go wrong with either.
