There is a brutal contrast in how Megatron and Optimus's stories end. Optimus nobly surrenders his spark, along with the Matrix of Leadership, having been sent off by his dear and trusted friends after giving them a fond farewell. He has accomplished his life's greatest goal; now he is able to rest. He dies willingly, at peace, bringing hope and giving life to the next generation by restoring the Allspark.

Megatron had already been killed, and was told that he can never join that very Allspark. Having been enslaved, and only released because of Optimus's actions, he is now reanimated, inhabiting his own corpse. His only remaining ally, who has constantly betrayed him, does not understand him. He flies off, alone, having lost all his forces and failed in his mission, and realizing that his life's greatest purpose was misguided. He is left, we can only assume, to live a hellish and hopeless life--a shell, consumed by the past.

And he did not tell Optimus goodbye. He knows that Optimus will leave him behind, will obtain the heaven he can never enter. He gives him the parting gift of his repentance, to acknowledge this. But in his refusal to say farewell, there is an echo of his own wretched endurance. He does not get to rest. Megatron will remain, eternally alone--eternally waiting for a reunion that will never come.

And 9 but im changing the question slightly. We know that if you had to make an au of SWSA then it would be mikey and raph in the nexus. My question is, if you originally went with that idea first, what would you have named the fic? Would it still be spiders web with strings attached or do you think you wouldve gone with a different name?

What is the first scene you planned for SWSA?

The first SCENE I ever planned for Spider's Web was one that never actually made it in. It was an arena fight where Leo and Donnie were forced to fight each other while literally being puppeteered by Big Mama with mystic weapons. It was high stakes and emotional, but in order to kill Donnie , I had to cut the scene. Besides, chapter 18 and 19 is way more emotional for the characters and the audience, don't you think?

The first planned scene that actually made it into the fic was Leo and Big Mama's face off in chapter two. Their snarky, sneaky conversation came to me so vividly that I KNEW I needed to write it down.

SWSA AU?

An excuse to ramble about this AU?? YES PLEASE.

@drsmer and I have been referring to it as the Sunset AU because of the sunset duo, obviously, but also because the theme of sunset is hauntingly present within the au. Spider's Web With Strings Attached was named thus partly because of the deal Leo made with Big Mama. Being caught in her trap is a huge part of the fic itself. But in the Sunset AU, Mikey and Raph enter the arena willingly.

It would be named something like, 'Sunset on a Spider's Web' or maybe 'Blinded, Burned, and Beaten'. Some other ideas off the top of my head: Setting Sun and Spinning Webs, Spun Sunset, Sinking Sun and Rising Tides, or some other combination of sunsets and webs.

That being said, Spider's Web itself was named through a lot of brainstorming and input from DrSmer, and then peer reviewed by Obby and @rocky-again and @danger-noodle4 . Who knows what the exact name for the au would be if it had been done first.
