There is a brutal contrast in how Megatron and Optimus's stories end. Optimus nobly surrenders his spark, along with the Matrix of Leadership, having been sent off by his dear and trusted friends after giving them a fond farewell. He has accomplished his life's greatest goal; now he is able to rest. He dies willingly, at peace, bringing hope and giving life to the next generation by restoring the Allspark.
Megatron had already been killed, and was told that he can never join that very Allspark. Having been enslaved, and only released because of Optimus's actions, he is now reanimated, inhabiting his own corpse. His only remaining ally, who has constantly betrayed him, does not understand him. He flies off, alone, having lost all his forces and failed in his mission, and realizing that his life's greatest purpose was misguided. He is left, we can only assume, to live a hellish and hopeless life--a shell, consumed by the past.
And he did not tell Optimus goodbye. He knows that Optimus will leave him behind, will obtain the heaven he can never enter. He gives him the parting gift of his repentance, to acknowledge this. But in his refusal to say farewell, there is an echo of his own wretched endurance. He does not get to rest. Megatron will remain, eternally alone--eternally waiting for a reunion that will never come.

#x 2022#pearl#maxxxine#x series#strait-jacket#psycho#what ever happened to baby jane#horror#psycho-biddy#hagsploitation#made this whole big thing which i still might post eventually but. in terms of aesthetics. this abridged version is better lol#i'm not gonna finish the other post tonight but consider this a preview of sorts#i can't stop thinking about what if they leaned more into the 'hagsploitation' aspect of it all lol#i actually find it odd + off-putting that they start and end maxxxine with a bette davis reference#with a big significant psycho cameo at the bates motel itself#and there's not really any payoff for those allusions!!#i think if you're gonna try to tie into a legacy of older horror films you should do it in a sincere way#because that just felt like 'elevated horror' bonus points + nostalgia bait#anyway. it's fun to think about the potential it had + how all the building blocks exist within the narrative to do something interesting#and i am a 1960s hagsploitation subgenre apologist lol#what ever happened to baby jane? changed my brain chemistry the first time i watched it as a kid#so maybe i'm just nostalgia baiting myself making these connections lmao#but it could have been so good#it could have been the perfect synthesis of the shared themes across all three movies#but i don't think hagsploitation gets butts in movie theater seats like girlboss 80s nostalgia vaguely true crime related shit#oh wait also i guess calling psycho a hagsploitation movie is like. probably not 100% accurate#but it is though. it's not an inversion of the subgenre bc the subgenre didn't exist yet#but it builds up a mystery 'psycho-biddy' character only to reveal that she's not the murderer#which is also what happens in strait-jacket so i think it counts!!#+ psycho is directly referenced in all 3 movies so it’s a pretty clear influence on the trilogy as a whole

#like i Know we only get sad dog suit majima for a few scenes but like#jesus christ that cutscene between majima and hamazaki was making me feel things#lowkey giving the same vibe as that last cutscene between majima and shimano in y0#majima being silent and staring ahead instead of at the guy talking to him#the fucking hand(s) pressing down on his shoulder(s) + majima reacting (startling in y0 vs the way he grimaces and his shoulders sink in y3#the order for him to become a weapon for someone else's plan with the underlying threat of what will happen if he doesn't follow through#LIKE I KNOW THE WHOLE MAJIMA-HAMAZAKI PLOT THING LASTED LIKE A GRAND 5-10 MINUTES IN IN-GAME TIME#BUT LIKE THAT WAS FUCKED UP. I was RIGHT BTW THAT MAN DID GET HER KILLED AHH BILL I'M SO SORRY why did she literally have the worst time ever with him I would've ran for the hills. I mean not every episode was completely traumatic for her, but... wow...
anyways, I'm SO upset to lose missy it's a little surprising. she was the first master incarnation I really got into and attached to, even if I went back and fell in love with saxon
not much to say honestly. really enjoyed s10, really liked bill. she's probably either my 4th or 5th favorite companion, I totally get why everyone who meets her loves her
