not to have a grudge against all books written in a certain POV but first-person alternating, we meet again, my beloathed
#one 2024 goal is reading more (as well as writing more) the way I used to#but#jesus christ#i am making allowances! i am not setting down the books on this account... in all cases...#but this is the *3rd* series since December to have some degree of alternating first person#now: i know some people don't like first person at all#i feel this comes from fan fiction where it usually only feels natural if a fan fic of a first-person book#i like first person!#i like third-person alternating!#i like close third person!#i can love all three depending on how they are deployed!#some stories call for one or the other#and some stories call for present tense#and i firmly believe this as a writer as well as a reader and want to be able to comfortably jump between them#but chapters alternating between first person#...i can tolerate it when there is good reason#but ye gods not in romance novels where it seems to be a popular choice oh no

Personal tier list of how likely I think past companions are to make a proper on screen appearance in Veilguard
S tier: Morrigan, Varric and Solas are already confirmed.
A tier: We're going to Tevinter, Maevaris Tilani is confirmed to be making an appearance. Dorian has connections to both, is well-liked among fans, and there's story room to explore with him especially in relation to the Shadow Dragons faction and his mission to better Tevinter. If he doesn't appear I will be legitimately shocked.
B tier: All three are fan favourite and I would be surprised if none of these three appear, although I don't expect to see all three. - We're going to Antiva and the Crows are involved in the game, Zevran fits in perfectly. - We're going to Rivain and the Lords of Fortune faction sounds incredibly suited to Isabela. - We're going to Tevinter and Fenris provides perspective as a character directly impacted by slavery in the Magisterium and he has been well featured in comics.
C tier: I think these characters have a good chance but I would still be pleasantly surprised to see them. - I can see Leliana, Cassandra or Vivienne appearing in-game as the Divine, although they may just be referenced via a letter or dialogue. If the Divine doesn't make an appearance I doubt any one of them would appear at all. - Shale has been in Tevinter and I can see them making a brief cameo appearance. - Merrill I think could appear in Arlathan Forest with the Veil Jumpers, but at the same time I feel like the devs might want to avoid including her especially since they've hinted at our protag having good reason to dislike blood magic? Although would love her Dalish perspective on the awakened Elvhen gods - Cole I can see making an appearance (maybe with the Inquisitor) as one of the only characters sympathetic to Solas as a person at this point
D tier: I think these characters appearing is unlikely but could still happen - Alistair has too many possible current states that feel like they'd be difficult to incorporate at this point. King? Warden? Drunkard? Trapped in fade? - Maybe Sten could appear among Qunari but I don't see any particular reason for him as the current Arishok to appear. - I would LOVE for Velanna to make an appearance. She would be SO GOOD to appear in Arlathan Forest as a Dalish perspective with her respect for their stories and history. Unfortunately being an Awakening character lowers her chances. - Anders my beautiful favourite is just too controversial and risky to include, plus I'm not sure how much he relates to the new game. This bad boy needs to be deployed when The Themes are right. - Blackwall, Iron Bull and Josephine all could easily make an appearance depending on what sort of direction the devs go with plot and events, but at the moment I don't have a reason to believe they would
F tier: I would be shocked to see any of these characters in game. - Wynne? Canonically died in the novels. - Loghain? Already had pay-off for keeping him alive via Inquisition appearance. Too many current fates (Dead, Warden, trapped in Fade) to make the effort worth the result. - Oghren? Do I even need to explain. - Nathaniel and Sigrun as mere Awakening companions (thus not as popular or well known) with little connection to the Veilguard story makes me doubt they will appear (even though I love them both dearly.) - Aveline and Sebastian are busy with their respective jobs, have little to do with the Veilguard plot, and are not very popular. - Bethany and Carver have too many current fate options and feels kinda pointless to include them in game unless Hawke is somehow relevant - Cullen... lol only if they recast him but I think Greg Ellis dug the character's grave. - Sera isn't that well liked by the fandom as a whole compared to other characters and I feel like she'd be avoiding any of the current veil related nonsense

You Leave Me Wounded And Bleeding | Simon “Ghost” Riley x Wife!Reader
a/n: the long awaited 1940s simon fic!! it’s been done for a while but i just had to tweak a lot so i’m able to write the second part :)
warnings: 1940s-Immediately after the End of WWII. 3RD PERSON - Heartbreak, mourning - let me know if I missed anything!
summary: It’s September 9th, 1945, the trains are running non-stop to bring soldiers home. Wounded, alive, and dead - families wait on the platforms, desperately awaiting the arrival of their family member. Those crowds would include you - Mrs. Simon Riley, awaiting the love of your life who has been deployed as long as the war had been waged.
REMINDER: This is a side-blog, not my main! If you have any questions, feel free to message this blog or reblog! Reblogs are always appreciated - as well as any comments, they keep me motivated to write stuff like this!
Dear Simon,
I am writing to you this in case something happens. Something I cannot think about, something that can very well happen and I don’t wish to dwell upon it. These words are the only way I can express it if I am no longer able to voice them.
There was thunderous applause in the square, surrounding the gray train station. Screaming, crying, cheering - loudness that she’s never heard before in her small town. She was one to steer clear of the loud noises, to sit away from the excitement in a small cafe or bookstore in the town square. Maybe walk around the plaza, take the time to enjoy the sun.
This September day was different - much different. The always fresh air tasted stale, the bright green trees began to grow gray. Her deep blue dress swished against her shins as she struggled through the crowds of cheering women, crying children, and proud and grieving parents. She glanced around the crowd, noticing how most of the people were draped in grays and blacks - mourning colors. She looked away from them, towards a glass encased list of names.
You’ve written me almost every week during this horrible time, about every thought and moment that caused you pain. It hurts me to know that I cannot ease your agony. It pains me that I cannot be by your side, even for a fleeting moment. You have such a kind soul, Simon Riley. I can only imagine how it will all of this affect you after the war.
A kind hand gently grabbed her wrist, the woman in deep blue jumped in her skin before turning to see a familiar face. An elderly woman she had grown to know in the past few years, a woman she often visited as the elderly woman was her neighbor. Her name was Mavis, her husband had died in the first World War and her only two daughters were nurses now. Mavis knew why she had arrived at the plaza today - she was a patient woman, a gentle voice that the woman in blue desperately needed.
“Will I see you when you arrive home tonight?” Mavis inquired, her black shawl draped over her front. She looked frail in the gray dress she wore, her feet buckled in worn gray kitten heels.
The taller woman in deep blue heels shrugged. “It depends, Mavis.” It depends if I will be coming home without him.
“He will come home to you, darling.” The old woman smiled gently, still holding onto her wrist. She gave it a squeeze, the woman in blue gave Mavis a soft smile.
“I’ve been hoping he does.”
Even long after your letters have stopped arriving, no British Army soldiers have appeared upon our doorstep yet - no telegrams have graced my fingers with your name upon them. That must mean something, right? That you are safe, breathing? For the past two and a half years, I’ve waited for your return; not to mention the three years before that. The danger is gone now, Simon, and you’re not here. They’ve been arriving by the train load for the past week, and none of the lists have your name.
Mavis had let go of Mrs. Riley’s hand and let her be, let her gaze at the large white pages with printed names in black ink. She was still too far to read any names, she still pushed though the crowd - getting closer. She watched as women in white walked away sobbing, or women in black excitedly running towards the train platform.
Fear trembled in Mrs. Riley’s blood, the purse that sat in her left hand felt too heavy, the air felt suffocating as the crowd pushed her towards the board. Today was the first day she felt like this, pain in her heart and fear in her lungs. Maybe today was the day she would see his name on the board, written with the same black ink as the rest of the soldiers coming home to Manchester. She was only behind five more people before she would be at the front of the crowd, reading quickly to find his name - maybe the names of his friends too. She’s met Soap and Gaz before, it has been a long time since she’s even seen Price. Maybe the mysterious Alejandro and Rudy will appear, even though their home is across the world - All living and breathing, she hoped.
Another step forwards, closer to the board as an older gentleman and lady both turned away from the board in tears - the young woman beside them with a teenage boy laughed with excitement. They moved away, she grew closer. She could almost read the names on the papers now.
I musn’t worry, I know you will come back to me. You have a habit of keeping promises, my love - as well as secrets.
“Move it along!” The conductor shouted as he came towards the board, shooing away more people as she quickly scanned the names now that she could read them. She started with the Gs, reading quickly.
Gardner, KIA. Garrett, Garrett, Garrett, KIA…
Garrick, Kyle. Sergeant. Gaz.
She felt hope filter into chest, at least one of them made it - she moved to the Ms.
MacDonald, KIA. MacDonald…
MacTavish, John. Sergeant.
Thank God, Soap. She remembered to breathe then, hurriedly going to the Ps as she noticed that the list was much shorter than yesterday. She didn’t dare dwell on it.
Powell, KIA. Powell. Price, Price, KIA…
Price, John. Captain.
Another step forwards, two more people had gone and now she only had the elderly couple ahead of her. They had worn white as a symbol of hope, as have many of the other families awaiting their turn to read the list. She read the Rs, her heart beating out of her chest like a train engine.
I’ve heard stories from wives, whispers among the streets about some soldiers coming home and no longer being themselves. They’re hollow, lifeless - I’ve seen a few myself. It is like the undead have invaded Manchester, they walk about with no emotion in their eye, no care for their family as they walk beside them. I’ve watched them from our bookstore, watching as their small children tug on their father’s hands and he vaguely responds with a lifeless smile, sending them away from himself. Their wives do not give away any note of worry, perfect smiles and small touches to their husbands as if to comfort them in a small way. It’s not hard to recognize the wife’s pain, it’s a pain I hope I will never know.
Radley. KIA. Raines. KIA. Redgrave. Ridley. Ridley. Rigley. KIA. Rivers. KIA. Robbins. KIA.
I’m scared, Simon.
A rougher hand grabbed her arm then, she didn’t look away. She kept rereading the list. Today is the last day for arrivals, she knew that. She has known that for the past week. Where was his name? Where was Lieutenant Simon Riley?
“Mrs. Riley,” A soft voice came from the person pulling her away, she kept staring at the board as it grew smaller. She almost stumbled, tripping over herself before she turned to look at the man who knew her.
Gaz.
“Are you alright?” She asked the man in pea green, he looked bewildered. They were now just outside of the crowd, he rolled his shoulders. “You aren’t harmed?”
“Mrs. Riley, there is no need for you to worry about me.” Gaz placed a hand on the strap of his dufflebag that was across his chest, he had a concerned look on his face. “Have you seen Soap? He had gotten off of the train with me, I’ve been looking for Price-“
Her hand gently pushed Gaz backwards, away from the crowd. The soldier had let her, her hand left his arm as she led him towards a bench. She sat down, smoothing out her dress and crossing her ankles. Her dark shoes were sort of scuffed, she stared at it for a moment before looking back up at her husband’s friend. He looked upon the train station, seeing the crowd began to dissipate slowly.
“Mr. Garrick,” She whispered, hoping he would hear her just like Simon would. But he just kept watching, waiting. “Gaz.”
Gaz turned his head to look at her, his face solemn. “Yes, ma’am?”
“Please, just call me by my name.” She answered, she then patted the bench. “Sit with me.” The wind picked up then, rippling through her straightened and victory rolled hair - the common style that she hated. Her normal hair was beautiful - is what Simon would always say, gently pet it against her head. If she wished hard enough, she could feel his hand touch her cheek. She closed her eyes then, letting the wind breeze her face without the malice of a dull world.
“I haven’t-“
“Is there someone waiting for you, Mr. Garrick?”
Terrified, really. What if you do not step off that train tomorrow? What will I do if I must return home in silence, no longer in your grasp? No longer sleep without the knowledge that you’ll be coming home?
Her eyes fluttered open as the gentleman sat on the bench, a couple of feet away. He didn’t even look at her, his eyes staring at the station. “No, ma’am.”
“I see.” She answered. “You are welcome in my home, just until you’re able to get on your feet.” She looked towards the train station again, her hands sat like stone in her lap, her purse against her shoes. “The invitation is extended to Mr. MacTavish, Mr. Parra and Mr. Price as well, should you see them - even Mr. Vargas if he makes his presence known.”
“Are you leaving?” Gaz asked and the woman didn’t offer an answer, only silence as she watched families in black walk with either their loved one in their arms or a folded flag. She didn’t know what he was asking - was she leaving the plaza or was she leaving Manchester?
“I’m not sure.” She commented to the air, recounting the past week and knowing that Gaz could hear her. “It’s been a very long time since I’ve had company in my home.” She patted her dress again when she changed the subject, a nervous habit. “Many of my own friends in Poland and the Netherlands have perished.” She brushed off invisible dust from her lap, smiling sadly. “I’m afraid I no longer have any friends.”
“Mrs. Riley, you’re my friend.” Gaz commented, looking at her as she still stared at the train station. “Ghost has done all of us well, told us many times that you are a person with a kind heart. I’m very glad you decided not to just ignore me earlier.” He sort of chuckled, then continued. “Look, Mrs. Riley, I haven’t seen Ghost since March. I was moved to a different unit, he was upset with me when I left. Not sure if he’d want to see me-“
“Mrs. Riley!” Came a loud Scottish boom, Gaz’s head swiveled towards the train station as she stood, she would have smiled but the information Gaz gave her sent an arrow into her heart. The Scot slid his bag across the pavement to Gaz before wrapping the woman in a tight embrace, rocking her side to side as he chirped, “Oh, lass, how I have missed you so!” He kissed her cheek, his smile as wide as the moon. “You won’t believe what they’ve fed me!”
Well, I suppose I haven’t had that knowledge since February, but it still feels crushing to say. What will I do if you return to me and you are no longer yourself? I know war must change a man but I’m not sure how I will live if I never see your smile again.
“Soap, you’ll squeeze the poor woman to death.” Gaz’s hand grabbed Soap’s shoulder and the Scot let go of her, his hands held onto her shoulders.
“How are you, bonnie? Still workin’ at that measly book store?” Soap looked like he had not slept in weeks, the poor thing.
She shrugged. “Yes.“
“Gaz, lad, how’re you?” Soap then turned away from her, almost strangling Gaz when he hugged him. Soap then began to babble on to him, while she watched the train station again, seeing how it was now becoming less crowded, yet…
There was a man with a boonie hat on, walking towards them with just a small bag. And it felt like someone had grabbed a hold of her ankle and pulled her underwater, she couldn’t scream, cry- Breathe. Just breathe.
She felt something in her heart then, but it wasn’t confirmation. No, she wouldn’t get confirmation until her fingers brushed his dog tag - the only one she would receive from the British Army would be the red one, the hardened rubber imprinted with his identification number, religion, his first initial and Riley.
“Mr. Price.” Her voice was a whisper, the gentleman raised his head to look at her.
What will I do if you do not return? Will I become like the hundreds of widowed wives, crying forever and waiting for their husband’s remains to return home? Will I be able to go to the plaza everyday, knowing that you’ve touched this place before? Will I be able to stay in our home that you’ve put sweat and blood into, just for us? I can’t think anymore of it.
“Mr. Price, please.” She walked towards him, her steps uneasy. She could feel her heart in her throat as it constricted, the air becoming sour as he came closer. The world began to lose her focus, her hands at her side. The man finally stopped, a few feet from her.
He took off his hat and held out his hand.
“Mrs. Riley.”
Her right hand trembled when she held it up, taking his hand and he shook it.
“Please.” Her request made Soap and Gaz go quiet, she placed her left hand upon Price’s. The Captain merely stared at her. “You have to know something about Simon.”
Price merely whispered your name. “You haven’t seen his name on the boards?”
All color drained from Price’s face, and Soap’s hand touched her shoulder. She looked up to Soap, his friendly excitement was now gone. “He isn’t here?”
I don’t think I could ever understand it, that I would ever want to. We’ve talked about it, but it still doesn’t make the ache in my soul any lighter. I cannot think of you anymore, it feels like my heart is playing a melancholy tune on a piano well beyond its years; playing a song I never knew it had memorized. And it’s like my fingers are stuck to the keys, dancing ever so slowly as if the crescendo in the sheet music keeps darting away. The climax of our story hasn’t even crossed the page yet; I keep playing this haunted tune and I don’t want to anymore.
“Y/N, what do you mean he’s not here?”
I want to rip my fingers from the keys and push myself away from the piano. But I only play this tune as I wait for you, only when you’re away from me. What will I do if this will be the only song I can play for the rest of my life?
Her knees went weak then, she almost collapsed if it wasn’t for Soap grabbing her, quickly placing her on the bench before kneeling in front of her. Price did the same, both men held one of her hands.
“No list has had Ghost on it? At all?” Price questioned, tears didn’t even dare reach her eyes. All she could do was stare at the train station, seeing how the train had gone - only a handful of people remained. She could count on both her hands how many people stayed behind, looking like lost souls, wandering.
Soap’s voice wavered when he spoke your name, “Lass, please answer him,” he squeezed her hand, her eyes looked to his before flickering back to Price.
She took a breath in, trying to calm herself but it was a futile attempt. “No, no.” She took another breath, shuddering. She closed her eyes and her head moved down to face her lap. “I…He has to be here, you have to know something.”
“The last time I saw the LT, shite, would’ve been the start of August. We were headin’ back from Hong Kong.” Soap muttered, his hand still firmly squeezing hers. “He was fine. He was with Alejandro, they were heading back, weren’t they?”
Price hummed in agreement. “Maybe he gave his seat up, maybe he escorted Alejandro to London. It’s okay, we’ll figure it out.” The Captain looked to Soap. “Go check the boards again, maybe they’ve put up the MIA list.”
Soap gave her hand another squeeze before he leapt to his feet, speed walking towards the station while Gaz took his place; Gaz’s hand had a softer grip, much more comforting.
“Mrs. Riley, it will be okay.” Gaz’s voice was soft now, Price was looking over his shoulder. “He’ll be here.”
My mother sent for me. This morning, actually. I was sitting in the study, going through the mail. My father is dying back home in America, and I must go. But I feel that I cannot leave here without knowing. I cannot leave our home without knowing if I get to kiss you or kiss the stone that will lay above your head.
“We should take her home,” Gaz commented to Price, she couldn’t even feel her hands then, her husband’s friends holding her hands tightly. “She needs to go home, Price.”
“Wait.” Price murmured, still watching Soap. She didn’t dare look now, her gaze moved away and to the right. The trees danced with the gentle breeze, leaves twisting and turning on their branches. The lights of the cafe had now burned out, the post office dim too - it seemed everyone had decided to abandon their work today. It made sense.
All she wanted to do now was sit in the bookstore, reading one of those romance books that Simon finds silly in the little reading nook she loved. He’d tell her that reading about romance is not the way to find someone, that all of the romance she’d need would come from him. What a way to woo a woman, she had said. He had smiled.
I’ve wondered what it would be like for you if I leave for America this very moment. You place your key into the lock, twisting it and opening up the front door. The house would be dark, no warmth from the fireplace, nothing to signal that I would be home. Maybe you would think I abandoned you, maybe you would think I had perished. But, I know you. There will be no need to worry, Simon.
“Soap,” Price called, her eyes didn’t move from the bookstore, its lights still on and bright. It was almost like she could see Simon sitting on the window seat across from her, reading A Farewell To Arms by Ernest Hemingway while she read Gone With The Wind by Margaret Mitchell - stealing glances from each other often. They were young then, he was 21 while she was 18, almost 19.
It was their first date. Sitting in the bookstore, stealing glances and being near each other. He had asked her what she was doing here in Manchester, noticing her American accent. She said, “I’m visiting my friends, I’m staying with an aunt.”
Simon sat up, closing his book before looking at her. “And you’re sat here, in a bookstore?”
“You have a much different and bigger selection than home,” She answered, a smile danced on her lips. “But I still love reading my favorite book.” She closed her own book, swinging her legs over the side of the bench, letting her shoes touch the ground. “Say, do you know any good romance books?”
That was the first time she had heard him truly laugh.
I’ve waited so long for you. So long for our life to grow, to spend more than a fleeting moment behind a bookshelf like we did when we were young. I’ve sat in every room of our home, praying and wishing for your safe return. I’ve hoped and wished so hard that I feel that the universe no longer hears me. Oh Simon, I’ve waited centuries in the collective almost six years you have been gone from my side. I’m not sure if I can wait any longer.
She didn’t even hear Soap’s answer. She didn’t even care that Price had pulled her to her feet, asking Soap where she lived. She mindlessly walked beside the soldiers, her ears began to ring.
The sky was gray, whistles of rain fell from it and kissed their heads. She would have normally been walking faster to avoid the rain, her hair taking almost an hour to put up but it felt like her soul had fell free from her chest. It was thrown away on the side of the street, discarded until she decides to find it again.
She was sure she wouldn’t.
The breeze felt bitter now, it was no longer her friend that ebbed by through her hair. It was a dangerous being, whispering in her ear taunts of loneliness, even though her friends walked beside her. Her arms were around both Gaz and Price’s, her hands gently rested on their forearms as they continued through the Manchester streets.
The ring felt heavy now. It felt like someone was pulling on her hand, trying to tear her ring off of her skin; like something was trying to burn it off. She couldn’t do it, couldn’t take it off. It was the only part she had connected to him.
When they finally arrived at her home, she blinked. She refocused her eyes, staring at the black door that seemed to mock her now. Soap fished the key from her purse, opening it - the soldiers pulled her into the house, her dark shoes scraped against the floor, scuffing them. They walked into the living room, gently settling her onto her couch. Their arms left her then, all of the soldiers kneeled before her.
And all she could do was blink, feeling tears burn her cheeks. And none of the men there dared to touch her now, Price’s eyes stayed on hers as Gaz and Soap looked at each other.
“Did you hear him?” Price’s voice was much softer than it was before, kinder - patient. “Did you hear John?”
She shook her head, letting the razor sharp tears slice down her face.
Price held out his hands, to which both of hers settled in. He clutched them gently, as if she was made of porcelain.
“Simon Riley is missing in action.”
I will love you forever. Even if you have left this precious Earth, even if your feet still tread upon it. But I can’t wait for a ghost when I have been waiting for my husband almost our entire marriage. My father is stable enough, they believe. He has two months to live. And because I love you, Simon, I will wait exactly one month after the last train arrives in Manchester with a list of soldiers.
Her tears fell against her dress, louder than anything else in the room. Her hands shook in front of her, she clenched them before she looked up at her husband’s friends.
And if you arrive when I have gone, I am sorry. I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to come back to our home empty handed, even if you are there - because you always leave. You always leave and I have always needed you, Simon. Always. You have hurt me in unimaginable ways, my love, even if you always find your way back home to me. So, just this once - I will be the one leaving. I can’t come back. I won’t come back. I won’t come back to a house that is no longer ours. I will not come back to a house that is just mine.
“Please don’t let me be alone.”
I love you, Simon Riley. Don’t ever forget it.
Forever yours,
Y/N.

Agent Donut (Flipflop AU)
(+bonus art, pfl info, and eta!!)
Thanks to @arrowsarchive for the donut req!!
Team Charlie's fun-loving leader who enjoys team building excersizes, positive reinforcement, and interior design, Franklin D. Donut! (Codename: Delano)
First OG Blood Gulch crew post for the au, so happy it's donut!! Also, realizing this is my first time drawing Donut!! :0
<-Fun facts/info under the cut!!!->
PFL's resident bomb tech! All things explosive are overseen, distributed, and even developed by Agent Donut. He was the one who gifted a rocket launcher to Doc following his mission with Team Alpha that left the medic unarmed and alone. Rest assured, Church and the rest of Team Alpha received a stern lecture from Donut afterward.
Received face scarring in a firefight back when he was in UNSC, where he was blasted by a grenade. It's actually what led the Director to recruit him in the first place.
Team Charlie is composed of Agents Donut, DuFresne "Doc", Lopez 2.0, and Kaikaina. They are support oriented, and are usually deployed on larger missions or tasks where Alpha and/or Bravo will encounter large firefights.
He and Kaikaina love to gossip about Alpha and Bravo agents.
He is paired up with the AI Eta, who loves creating visual effects for Donut
No, he did not dye his hair pink. It's lightish RED.
Theater kid. Anytime he has the aux, it's showtunes.
Always tanned somehow. PFL's current theory is that he has a tanning bed in his room. All attempts to confirm or dispell this theory have proven fruitless.
His staple meta bit is correctly guessing whatever outlandish scenario the cast has gotten into/are experiencing, but is always ignored. His catch phrase might as well be, "I told you so."
PFL info
Ff!Project Freelancer is still run by the Director, but it isn't Leonard Church. PFL is sectioned into three teams rather than a leaderboard, those being Alpha, Bravo, and Charlie. Each team has a different focus, but Alpha and Bravo are able to function on their own.
Alpha: Church, Tucker, and Caboose
Bravo: Sarge, Simmons, Grif, Lopez
Traditionally, Charlie Agents don't function as an entirely separate squad, more as a pool of soldiers Alpha and Bravo can take from depending on the mission. When they aren't supporting the other two teams, Charlie Agents help the Director with clerical work or help assign missions.
(I'm trying to keep the AU plot kinda vague bc I want to turn this into a fic)
Bonus Art + Eta
(I really need to learn how to draw halo helmets/armor...)

In the housewife!roy au, I am writing that he does still finish the military academy. he becomes a state alchemist. but he isn't a combat based one. no. he becomes a research alchemist.
he meets riza again, and he learns flame alchemy, and decides "this is my secret to keep, too." instead of demonstrating flame alchemy to the examiners, he shows off his rather impressive knowledge of medical alchemy.
now, the military is aware that he has dependants and is functionally a single parent. they don't wanna have to deal with the mess of paying for a nanny or whoever to take care of a six and seven year old while Roy is fighting in ishval, so instead, he is assigned to work under Marcoh.
now im not done reading the manga (am up to volume 5) so I'm saying that, until order 3066 was signed, marcoh and roy were stationed in central city, working at a lab. marcoh got sent out on field assignments, while roy stayed in central. because roy, who wants to protect the people he loves, who wants to protect his children, is studying medical alchemy.
but when order 3066 was signed, roy got deployed to ishval, where he met hawkeye. riza, who he hadn't been able to talk to in three years. riza, who he believes he failed. and he only finds her again because his alchemy is medically-based, so he's working with doctors and nurses in the hospitals. that's how he meets knox, after all, and maes, and everyone else.
after the war ends, after marcoh deserts, he resigns his post and proposes to riza. he fell in love with her in ishval, and together, he says, they can work towards rebuilding the country. but he can't hurt people anymore.
so riza suggests that, until he can get back on his feet, he stay home. he can take care of ed and al, who were nine and ten by this point. he can teach them alchemy, and he can live. because before? he was just surviving, before.
and he does. by god, he does. he learns to live again, and then he meets a talented alchemist, and decides to do what she does. he's a house-husband first and foremost, but he is an alchemist. and alchemist, be thou for the people.
he starts building up a network of the other parents at ed and al's school. most of them are the wives of military men, after all, and housewives are nothing if not gossip.
and they love him. this twenty-something newlywed with his two nephews who stays home while his wife (riza, beautiful, strong riza) defends their country? how could they not?
and he stays in contact with his sisters, though instead of dates (because he is nothing if not a doting husband and uncle father), theyre his friends. his sisters, his family. as Riza builds her team with Maes, he builds one of the largest intelligence networks in Amestris, big enough to rival even Madame Christmas's, made up entirely of housewives and the working women of amestris, who have always been so invisible that now, now that they're seen by someone? someone who has seen the worst of humanity and can still smile?
of course they support him. why wouldnt they? he's one of them, after all.

for my babygirl Petra: 🎮💯🍎☕️🧐 (answer however many im just nosy 🫶)
i will literally never complain about getting multiple of these, i can talk about petra 24/7 🫡 (link to oc game)
🎮 VIDEO GAME CONTROLLER — what are three of your oc's favorite hobbies? 1. Petra's an artist! She has a journal that she keeps on herself almost 24/7 and every page that isn't dedicated to work-related info is filled with drawings. Her preferred subjects are nature; animals, plants, locations, etc., but she tries to sneak in drawings of the people around her whenever she can. There's a specific piece that I plan on turning into a fic 🤭 2. She can play the drums! She's no master, but she's skilled. Why the drums, you may ask? Because of her Uncle Frank. Idc if it was a silly easter egg, Frank's a drummer to me now, and Petra fell in love with it when she was little thanks to him. Women drummers are also hot so. What’s the issue. 3. Reading! Petra's a major bookworm in her spare time. Her favorite genres are romance and philosophy. For romance, she just likes the warm, fuzzy feeling it gives her. Regarding philosophy, she has a great interest in people as a whole and often fights with herself in things like morals versus duty, "right" versus "wrong", seeing the good in almost everyone...
💯 100 POINTS SYMBOL — share three random facts about your oc that others may not know. 1. She listens to Sleep Token pretty religiously. Favorite genre of music is probably rock – what genre? Yes. The answer is yes. She doesn't believe in consistency. 2. Has a lengthy skincare routine, is absolutely heartbroken every time she's deployed because she can't do it in the field. She's forced convinced the boys to do it with her before, some put up more resistance than others. 3. She's got major entomophobia! While there are certain insects that Petra can handle (within reason, let's not get ahead of ourselves), the vast majority will have her jumping out of her skin. She can force herself to manage it in the field, but she usually comes out of those operations needing to scrub her skin raw to feel clean again. Am I projecting? Yes, yes I am.
🍎 RED APPLE — where was your oc born? do they still live in/around their place of birth or do they live somewhere else? how do they feel about their birthplace? Petra was born in the city of Rotterdam! She moved to The Hague in her early 20s (probs like 20-22), so she's not very far from her birthplace! She lived in Copenhagen for a couple years while she was getting her master's degree, but she's been in The Hague ever since. She doesn't have any particularly strong feelings towards Rotterdam; it's where she and her brother grew up, but she visits it enough that there's nothing terribly nostalgic about it.
☕️ HOT BEVERAGE — does your oc prefer coffee, tea, hot chocolate, milk, water, or some other drink? how do they like to take this drink (ex. coffee with milk, hot chocolate with whipped cream, a specific kind of tea, etc.)? Coffee, tea, water... it all depends on her mood. Petra cares about her body, so she stays hydrated fr. She's particular to chai, black, and herbal teas, and prefers it decently sweet. As for coffee, she's not a snob that drinks it black – she adds milk, sugar, creamer... anything she can to make it more pleasant. Price has called her coffee "glorified milk" before. She threatened to run his cigars through the grater. He did not make any comments after that.
🧐 FACE WITH MONOCLE — is your oc more logical or emotional? Again... sorta depends on the situation. At her core, she thinks with her heart more than her head. Petra's a humanitarian and cares about what's best for the people above all else. This has put her at odds with both herself and allies before, and has unfortunately led to her getting too heavily involved with enemies that she saw some goodness in. On the flip side, she can be that cold, calculating, "we get dirty, world stays clean" type that the team needs when necessary. Petra's spent enough time in the field to know that logic takes precedence over emotions 99% of the time, even if it leaves her with a sour taste in her mouth in the end.
thank youuuuu bestie teehee 🥰🫶

Shattering Ivory Keys, Part Four (Finale)
Part One
Part Two
Part Three
----------------------
The following day, Hephaestus does as Aphrodite suggests, acting the jealous husband. It feels like bathing in curdled milk. He hates clinging to her wherever she goes, staring down anyone who gets too close.
Still, it leaves only the fourth and final component of their play: the very public breakup. So he begins to make a fine, shimmering net.
He throws himself into it, staying up late in the forge to get the strands right. He has to get this right; ending this whole sham marriage depends on it. His fingers ache from weaving and re-weaving the invisible threads.
One night, another set of fingers help unsnarl his wrists from the tangled net. “Two people can work faster than one,” Aglaia says, her voice a low murmur.
A shiver runs through him. It’s selfish, and he hates himself for it. Undoing his tangled net, she’s undoing him all over again. He almost pulls away.
But he sees that look in her eyes again — the softness, the eagerness to be close to him. It might not be selfish.
He agrees. They finish the net together.
Hephaestus drapes the net over his bed in front of Aphrodite. She doesn’t touch it, now that it’s set. “You know, you didn’t have to make it nearly invisible,” she says, admiration ringing in her voice.
He shrugs. “I had to make it believable that you and Ares wouldn’t notice it. And Aglaia helped too.”
“Did she?”
“...yes.”
Aphrodite puts her hands on her hips, raising an eyebrow. “I’m the goddess of love.”
He shifts his weight, looking away. “I know that.”
“I know how you feel about her.”
“I do too,” Hephaestus says after a long pause. It’s the first time he’s admitted it to himself.
“I’ll tell her,” he continues, surprising himself. But now that the words are out there, he doesn’t want to take them back. He wants a new kind of future. He wants her to look at him the way she looked at him on that balcony every day. And he wants to look at her that way too — if she’ll let him.
He opens his mouth to say so, but Aphrodite smiles at him. “I get it,” she says. “If she’ll have you, you’ve got my blessing.”
“Even after everything?”
“You’re making up for ‘everything.’ I think you’re a good person, even with all of this. And she likes you.”
He picks at the calluses on his thumb. “I don’t deserve it.”
“Nobody deserves anybody or their affections. We earn it. Maybe you’ve earned hers.” Her voice softens. “You’ve definitely earned my forgiveness.”
“I’m glad,” he says, and he means it. He didn’t expect it from her. But it doesn’t remove the weight of his oath on the Styx from his shoulders. It doesn’t kill the anxious, squirming creature in his stomach. Tomorrow. It’s all tomorrow or never.
*********
The net deploys as expected. Aphrodite manages to shed some tears, Ares snarling and thrashing beside her. They sound frantic, near-hysterical. Somehow, they keep from bubbling over into shared laughter.
The other gods do laugh, but Hephaestus doesn’t care. He only cares about the look on Zeus’ face. He sees the moment his glittering, ivory smile shatters once he realizes he has to return the dowry.
Hera doesn’t frown. She doesn’t smile, either. Her face spasms into something unreadable, her eyes darting between Hephaestus and the writhing net.
Cold sweat slides down the back of his neck. Does she know?
Her eyes settle on him. He forces himself to meet her gaze, even and steady. He doesn’t know what she’s looking for, what she knows. He doesn’t know if she sees a stranger or a son.
For a moment, her mouth softens in a sad smile. She dips her head in a nod.
Then her face is blank and smooth again, cold marble turning upwards to Zeus. “Oh, be done with it. This marriage is clearly a farce.”
She puts a little too much emphasis on “farce” for Hephaestus’ liking, but she doesn’t continue. She doesn’t correct Zeus’ interpretation of her words: “I suppose he and a goddess of love and beauty could never work together,” he sighs, massaging his temples. “But the dowry—”
“I’ll pay it,” Poseidon says, exasperated. “Now can we let them out and finally settle down for the evening?”
“You’re such an old fart,” Hermes shouts back. There’s no further protests. Hephaestus reaches into his apron and depresses a small button, causing the net to fall away. Aphrodite sits up, grabbing Ares’ arm and hauling him up with her. “Alright, alright. Show’s over.”
It’s over more than the others know, Hephaestus muses. Barring, of course, the final glance he receives from Hera before she sweeps out of the room. He still doesn’t know if he’s a son, but she might not want to be a stranger. He’ll have to decide what he wants. The other gods follow after Hera. It’s not until they’re gone that Ares stands up from the bed, wincing. “Your net does an excellent job at restraining even gods.”
“I can make some for you,” Hephaestus says, thinking of the battlefield. It’s an apology and an offer to keep talking to each other. It’s a start.
Ares studies him. “I’d like that.”
Aphrodite shakes out her hair, laughing. “That was brilliant! Great performances, all of you. We’ll have to share the good news with Aglaia.”
“I heard it all,” Aglaia calls out, sliding out from behind a curtain. Her face glows with a dazzling smile.
Hephaestus has a brief debate with himself about whether now is a good time or not. He doubts he’ll work up the courage to do it later. “Can we talk about—”
“Yes.”
“I didn’t even—”
She takes his hand, squeezing it. “We’ll see how it goes, hm?”
And as the weight from his oath on the Styx falls away, he lets himself squeeze back. “We will,” he says.

Oooh I just spotted the character headcanons! So, for Rick Flag how about: ☆ ♦ ▼
Oh yay!!! Thank you for the ask, Katy!!! I absolutely ADORE doing HCs and as you know I've been in my Rick feels again lately 😘 I hope you enjoy these!
Happy Rick Headcannon:
Rick doesn’t get along with most people (at least not right off the bat), but he absolutely adores dogs. He has never met one he didn’t like.
He was never allowed to have a dog growing up because he moved so often and they were never sure if their new place would allow animals. Then while in the Army, he is gone so often it's not fair to keep a dog in a kennel for that long. However, he sets up an arrangement with his elderly neighbor once he gets his more stable position at Belle Reve where whenever he is home, he walks her dog for her. He makes it seem like he is doing it to be nice and help her out but in reality, it is one of the simple pleasures he enjoys in life and is almost therapeutic for all the terrible stuff he experiences in his job.
Rick Hobbies Headcannon:
Rick is one of those people when he has free time he is either extremely active and moving non-stop or he is horizontal on the couch all day with a bag of chips and six beers.
On days where he is active, he usually gets up just before dawn and goes for a brief three-mile run. Then he grabs a quick breakfast that he can eat on the go and depending on where he is located at the moment, he’ll seek out some sort of recreational activity. When he is in DC or anywhere close to the ocean, he spends most of the day at the beach surfing or swimming. When he’s in the mountains and it’s snowy, he goes snowboarding or skiing. Just things that keep both his body and mind active and distracted from the mental and physical toll he’s taken from his latest mission.
On the days where he finally hits the wall and decides to rest, he barely moves the entire day. The extent of his walking is from the bed to the couch to the bathroom to the couch to the refrigerator to the couch to the front door for his food delivery to the couch to bed. He uses this time to catch up on sports he DVRed while he was gone (mostly football) or binge some trashy reality shows. Sometimes when Harley is out of prison, he invites her over and they commentate the latest episodes of the Real Housewives or The Bachelor.
Rick Childhood Headcannon:
Rick is fourth generation military so when he was young, he moved around a lot as his father was deployed to different places. While most of the time it was different locations in the southern US (Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, etc), he also lived in Germany and Italy for a short time. It taught him to absorb as much as he could from his environment while he could while also not getting too attached to the people around him because he would be leaving again soon anyway (something that made him initially standoffish with the ever-shifting members of Task Force X years later).
Rick admired his father and viewed him as an American hero who he strived to be like one day, but his mother was his whole world. Because his father was gone so much, his mother was basically a single mom for long stretches of time. She couldn’t have a career of her own with all their constant moving at a moment's notice, so she would find retail or waitress jobs where ever they ended up (Rick loved whenever she worked as a waitress because she would always sneak him home some food at the end of her shifts). Even at a young age, Rick realized how hard his mother worked to keep things going and she never complained when his father came home to say they were moving again, so he always tried to do whatever he could to make life easier for her whether that was cleaning the house, doing the grocery shopping, cooking meals, etc.
Rick’s father was killed in action when he was 14. Because of this, he was given a scholarship from the government to go to a prestigious military school for all of high school. He almost turned it down because he felt guilty leaving his mother all alone, but she knew how much Rick wanted to follow in his father’s footsteps so she insisted he go. He came back to see her every chance he could (vacations, summers, etc) and she was there in the front row when he graduated at the top of his class a few years later.

Funnily enough I was actually pretty confident after the abysmal Portugal game. I thought, we’ll if we can play at our worst for three games straight and only allow one goal through, then we only need to fix the attack. Now I’m back to doom and gloom. I don’t think the coach is going to make any tactically changes from formation or to proper subs. Julie needs to be in midfield. Take a chance with Alana and Kelly in the back. Bring crystal up as well to help Julie and Horan. Maybe start Ashley Sanchez as well.
Since he’s such a conservative coach, the group stage was the time to test it out. Now I don’t think he will do anything in the knockout rounds. I didn’t want our girls to go out like this against Sweden especially. :(
See I have a different opinion but only for one reason: I've never thought of Vlatko as a coach at all and I'm not about to start now. He's not conservative, he's just a moron.
Genuinely mean this in the NICEST way possible. He doesn't know how to coach beyond the paper. The moment changes need to be made in the shape of the team, what kind of players and movements he needs to make to adjust to the other team's game plan he's out. He's a good preparation coach, the kind that sits you down to watch tape and study the other team but an actual side line coach? utter garbage.
And, to top it off, he's stubborn. Don't expect any major changes to the way the team will play Sweden. They've played this exact formation with this same shape of players since he started and he's convinced this is gonna work and it ain't gonna change.
If anything i put the blame on the players, who see this disaster and are either missing the guts to say nope this isn't working lets change it, or don't understand the game enough to know what to do about it. I lean to the first one but at this point, who's to say.
I hope I'm wrong. I hope he moves Julie from CDM to full on CM and deploys an actual backline with a real sweeper and some actual 4 line defenders as opposed to his 3-line nonsense with Dunn. Actually if it were me this is how I would line up:
Naeher
Sonnett-O'Hara-Girma-Cook
Ertz-Sullivan
Horan
Rodman-Morgan-Smith
And, depending on the score at half, I'd swap out Andi for Sanchez, Alex for Rose and drop her next to Lindsey for a double 10/8 stitch, and around minute 65-70 if goals haven't happened, bring in Thompson and Lynn Williams for Rodman and Smith, most likely keeping Rodman on the field longer than Smith on fitness and heatmap alone.
Is it a perfect plan? Hell no. But it brings some fucking dynamism to this team, it employs a lot of the speed, it leaves Horan free from recovery duty to focus on playmaking alone, and it allows for players to last longer on the field. You could swap the Rose sub for KMew and set her free as a floating 9 behind the front team. You can make it into a 3 line with Lindsey-KMew-Ertz if you're so in love with your stupid 4-3-3 and focus them on transitioning the ball to take advantage of how fast Rodman and Smith can run.
THERE IS A WORLD OF POSSIBILITIES AND VLATKO CAN'T SEE ANY OF THEM AND IT PISSES ME OFF SO MUCH!
#this is a long one#but I have had many thoughts#the usa is so much better than this#and yet with this shitty a coach there is nothing to do but show up and pray#woso#uswnt#vlatko andonovski#wwc 2023#fifa women's world cup#fifa world cup#anon asks#I am sorry I hijacked your question to vent about my plans if I was the USA coach but here we are#I am gonna scream into the void for a while

Brad Colbert Smutty HCs
Happy New Year Smutty Motherfuckers! Godfather would be proud disturbed. ▸ They don’t call him Big Boy Brad for nothing. That’s a lie. No one calls him that. Except you.
▸ Blowjobs are Brad’s bestfriend. He refrains from placing his hand in your hair and gripping your hair, unless he knows you’re comfortable with it, but he has incredible self-restrain when it comes to you. Perhaps annoyingly so for you when you just want him to fall apart beneath you. However, as soon as your lips engulf him inch by inch, that self restraint wavers as he rolls his eyes back to a fluttering close, parts his lips and lets out a sigh/exhale of breath. Almost like it was the most relaxing thing he’s ever had. ▸ You could’ve given him a blowjob only hours prior and he’d still have this reaction every single time.
▸ Brad is an extremely private man. Unlike Ray, there’d be no semi-public shenanigans whatsoever. But he will, very subtly, tease you in public. No one else notices, but you know Brad well enough to know exactly what he’s up to. ▸ Despite not being adventurous publicly, he has no issue taking you in every single room. You eat at the table? That’s where he’ll eat too - if you catch the drift... -wink- ▸ He loves when you ride him. Loves watching you bounce up and down. Loves gripping your hips and thrusting up into you. Adores watching you throw your head back in pleasure. ▸ You know that scene from True Blood? Eric x Nora, Season 5, Episode 11? That particular scenario too. You're still straddling him, but it's that rough, desperate closeness. ▸ It may seem like he uses you the first night he’s home, but he doesn’t. Try to take it as a compliment. He’s spent months without you. He’s had the occasional combat jack to you, but it’s never the same - and since being in a relationship with you, he’s found himself not having as many combat jacks as Ray assumes he has. So, as soon as you get home, it’s a very desperate ’I miss you’ fuck. It’s desperate, intense and over within a few minutes. He’s asleep soon after. And pretty much checked out until early hours of the following morning. But it’s not using you for sex. No. So far from it. He’s wanted nothing more to come home to you and be with you in the most intimate way possible… He’s placed you first, over the need for sleep. Otherwise he would’ve come home and just crashed. ▸ He’s a gentle-fuck. Can fuck roughly but he’s still gentle about it. Which may or may not annoy you, depending on how badly you want him to put all his strength to good use. This is his second relationship and he doesn’t want to fuck it up so he’s always very cautious. ▸ One way to make him completely come undone? Take advantage of when he’s soaking in the bath. Come in and sit on the edge of the bathtub. Have a little chat before it turns suggestive. Dip your hand beneath the water… You’re able to pull out the little gasps and moans from him. And also a whine when your hand leaves him and you leave him, alone, in the bathtub as you saunter out of the bathroom. Make no mistake though. Soon, you’ll hear the splosh of the water as Brad gets out and pins you to the bed within three quick strides of his long legs (holy shit did I just create a smutty one-shot idea here? Excuse me while I steal my own idea). ▸ Brad loves receiving. As submissive as it sounds, he loves it. But make no mistake. He is far from submissive. He still carries an air of dominance about him. Sergeant leader and all. ▸ A little kink of his is when you call him by his rank. He’s heard it from his men before, doesn’t really talk about what happens when he’s deployed… but hearing you say *’Yes Sergeant’* in the most submissive manner…. Oh god, it excites the Marine more than receiving a proper recon mission that allows his warrior spirit to finally shine. ▸ It’s not all about Brad though. He gives you just as much pleasure and attention as you give him. Many times it’s him lifting you up on the counter and letting his hands roam over your body. Fingers that are trained for violence, just ghosting over your skin, over your sensitive areas…ducking beneath YOUR his tee, trailing upwards until he hears that little gasp from you. Brings that little smile from him and his lips are ghosting over your neck. Just soft foreplay until one of you snap and then he’s carrying you to the bedroom where you’ll never know whether he’ll be taking you a little roughly or will be taking his sweet time with you. Either/or, Big Boy Brad never disappoints. ▸ He grunts softly more than he moans. And gasps a lot more than he’ll ever admit. But that’s only privy to you.
I can see this particular HC going one of two ways; ▸ Brad and his porn mags: He uses those magazines to get him off because he doesn’t want to be thinking about you. He misses you like crazy but you are literally the only damn good thing in his life, aside from his bike, and some romantic chivalrous part of him doesn’t want to taint that. So he purposefully puts you out of his mind. Or, he’s a guy. He uses it to get himself started but ends up closing his eyes and finishing to thoughts of you, abandoning the magazine altogether. Honestly, half the time he wonders why he even brings it with him. (No, he does not carry a picture of you while overseas. Absolutely not. Most especially when Ray shares the same Humvee as him.) ▸ Now normally Brad does not like to be disturbed when he's working on his bike. That's his personal time. Leave him alone. But no way can he resist watching you come out in one of his tee's, lingerie underwear (or none!). Soon your otherwise clean skin will have grease marks painted all over it as he sits you on his bike... gasps and moans echoing through the garage (there's a reason why Brad doesn't like having close neighbours).*
|| Disclaimers: I did write most of these specifically for a friend. One of them I had already HC’d with Brad/Nate a year ago. The rest were just too good to not share on my blog.
*Another smutty one-shot? Also if you don't agree with any of it, that's totally fine. This is just coming from my perspective. Regardless, I hope this was enjoyable to read. A particular HC listed, regarding Ray, might've made more sense if I posted Ray's HC list first. Oh well. Like our Lieutenant, I only ever get what's passed on from Godfather (Godfather ragrats everything)
#Brad Colbert Smut#Brad colbert x Reader#Brad colbert x Reader smut#Combat Jack Spice Rack#It's New Years and I'm sat on Tumblr writing smut HCs over Marines who would be absolutely disgusted#What a way to end 2022#But I'm online with the same type of people so CHEERS!

Tagged by @chocolatepot Rules: pick any 10 of your fics, scroll somewhere to the mid point, pick a line (or three), and share it! then tag 10 people.
I have 404(!) works on AO3 and was not sure which to pick so I went with a selection of fandoms/pairings for a bit of variety.
Like Soldiers Do (M*A*S*H) "I happen to come from a long and proud line of perverts, sir. When the Mayflower docked there were Pierces in the hold worrying the sheep. My forefathers fought perversely against the British, and also for the British, depending on popular opinion at the time. And I could always lie about it. I could practice on the plane home."
Architectural Anomalies (Doctor Who (2005)) Martha put her hands on her hips, annoyed by his pretence of innocence. “Doctor, I know what an alien sex dungeon looks like when I see one!”
The Myth Of Kissing Princes Loki (TV 2021) Now comes the coaxing tone, the seductive suggestion. “You’re not tempted to find out what it’s like with yourself?” And here’s the smile she’s turned on others countless times, finally deployed against her as though she doesn’t know exactly what it means.
One Plus One Is More Than Two (Elementary) It is Sherlock who hesitates, because he has the most to lose: retaining Watson’s love is more important to him than winning the love of Joan.
Bring Something Back (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine) Miles takes his place at the line, waits for Julian to hand him the darts, and when their fingers touch in the process he almost drops the darts to the floor in his haste to break the contact. He is overwhelmed by skin and heat and memory. He almost panics.
Flowers For Romana (Doctor Who (1963)) She did look rather upset about the whole thing. That would teach him not to try being nice to people. He kicked K-9 simply because he could, and because he couldn't think of any way to blame the dog for his own stupidity.
And Watch How You Play (Doctor Who (2005)) Missy can be very generous when she wants to be. She invites him along to destroy a nice big chunk of the Cyberfleet, which provides an enjoyable day out for the two of them. She’s read that sharing hobbies is important for a couple and she is nothing if not committed to their relationship. She enjoys killing and he enjoys winning, and the reverse is also true even if he’ll never admit it.
The Worst Days (Star Trek: Voyager) He waits for her to move first. That he might move first when she’s the captain is unthinkable. He is loyal and obedient, after all, up to and well past the point of those being faults. (She has asked him to mutiny when the very worst day finally comes, and he has promised that he will and knows that he won’t.)
The text of a recently discovered document, purporting to be Friedrich Engels’ discarded first draft of the Preface to the 1885 edition of Das Kapital by Karl Marx (Historical RPF) He wrote a lot. I think that’s fairly evident from the size of this book, but it’s an important enough facet of his existence that it bears stating. The man wrote a huge amount of polemic, rhetoric and discourse. Huge amount. Ridiculous amount. And so much of it means something. So much of it is right.
Mother's Day (Doctor Who) It is 1968, a year of revolutions. She sits quietly, hands in her lap, as her husband explains the benefits of an otherworldly eduction. It would be best to take the boy now, he says, before others notice the coldness of his skin, the weird beating of his hearts. She can come with them, to make a new life.
I am gonna tag… ummm… anyone who wants to do this meme. Anyone. It's a fun meme. Share the fun, yes!
#memes#yes that is indeed marx/engels slash up there your eyes do not deceive you#some of these are ancient!#and OF COURSE i made sure to include some twissy!#lacking in doctor/tardis but oh well we can't have everything can we#well over half of my fic on AO3 is Doctor Who so that's why there's so much of it in this post#yes i did give the doctor a 1963 birthdate of course i fucking did#(the doctor's mother is still my fave non-character from the show btw. she's so absent! we know nothing! she's human! that's literally it!)#(half-human doctor rights!!!!! nevar forget!!!!)#fic related

2. Gather your content be it text, images or videos i.e what information is your customer looking for?
Gathering text, images, and videos for your site.
There is a saying in this digital world that says "Content is king in digital marketing". Most of the clients are unable to provide content for their website. In such cases Hiring a content writer or seeking help from a development agency could result in saving your time. A development agency can provide you a full package from designing your website to developing it to content writing and all.
It's crucial to gather content for your website and that must include everything that will appear on your website like :
Text Content: The content includes all the things like the text that you want to show on your pages—home page, product pages, blogs and faqs—and your content must align with your brand values and your mission.
Visual Content: "A picture is worth a thousand words" that being said — Most websites use images, videos, infographics and illustrations to provide their users a better user experience.
Your content and the way you organize it, is the wordsmith behind your website. And web designers are the architects that will set your site apart by offering branded content and unique online experience to the user.
While you will create the content by just considering your perspective, Web designers and content writers are the experts on how to make your content engaging and how to present it in an easy to understand way to the visitors.
In simple words, they can suggest a ton of creative ways to display information on the page, by using visuals or elements that interact with the users directly, to empower people to take an action that aligns with your company's desired outcome.
Pro Tip: While preparing content for your website, focus on emphasizing the most crucial information rather than flooding your website with inconsequential content. For instance, using few high-quality content & images is much more impactful and effective than overcrowding the entire webpage with confusing or low-quality content. Your content will vary depending on the type of website you're building.
Online stores must be focused on providing detailed product information and high-quality images of that product, as users can't physically interact with the products yet.
Portfolio sites must be more oriented on visual media of your accomplishments and text that speaks about the projects that you were invested in.
Business websites must use diverse content like testimonials, product or service details, and industry blogs to showcase their dominance and experience.
In a nutshell, your content must be original, engaging, relevant, concise, and easy to read.
3.Decide the platform— Select custom website or website builders like wordpress and shopify.
It's a hot take whether you must go with custom website development or you must choose a website builder to create your website. Because both have their own advantages, If you are a beginner, in search of a solution that handles majority of the processes then website builder could be an option for you, while experienced users may prefer a more advanced solution.
Websie Builder Vs Custom-built Website
Factors to consider if you want to choose website builder as your companion:
Wordpress Pros & Cons
If you are in search of a solution that is easy to use, offers you with some predefined limited customization options, and has a bunch of pre-build templates to start with. So the choice is quite simple — If you are in search of a quick site creation tool without worrying about responsiveness, and a platform with monthly pricing options instead of making a one time investment — then website builders could be one of the possible options available.
Some of the popular website builders are WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, and Weebly, with WordPress being the most widely used.
Factors to consider if you want to choose custom website as your companion in website development:
If you want a one-of-a-kind website that aligns perfectly with your brand’s identity and vision then a custom website is the option to go with. The flexibility and customizations that a custom website offers is unmatchable, all specific needs and unique functionalities are catered and could be integrated easily with the help of good development agency.
Advantages Of Custom Website
Custom websites are built from scratch using coding languages like HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and frameworks such as React, Angular, Vue.js, Node js or laravel, custom websites allow customizable superior user experience, bespoke design, and advanced features that align precisely with your business goals that prebuilt solutions could never provide. Custom websites also provide superior performance, security, and scalability, making them ideal for businesses with complex requirements and unique branding needs.
In summary, for businesses that are seeking for an unique experience & an high-performing online presence, then custom websites are typically the better option despite the initial complexity and investment.

Fire Emblem Engage: Is It Good?
Hey everyone! Anyone that knows me knows how obsessed I am with the Fire Emblem franchise.
(Credit: Nintendo)
I loved every game in this new era that it is in, from Awakening, Fates, and Three Houses all building off of one another and creating amazing and engaging (hah) stories that make me want to play over and over again. Here, unfortunately, is not the case. SPOILER ALERT on the game in general along with any other one in the franchise, I am probably going to spoil it.
Fire Emblem Engage is the latest installment in the franchise and it was…okay.
(Credit: Nintendo of America YouTube Video)
I mean, it wasn’t bad, but it fell flat compared to its predecessors. You play as Alear, a male/female protagonist known as the Divine Dragon who was asleep for a thousand years. They have lost their memory during their slumber, and must navigate their foggy memories while fighting in a war against the Kingdom of Elusia.
(Credit: Fire Emblem Wikia/Fire Emblem Wikipedia)
Robin was essentially a standin for us, the player, since we could customize their appearance and have meaningful relationships with the other NPCs. Alear, however, has no way of changing their appearance, thanks to their hair and eye color being important to the story, and only has a fraction of the meaningful interactions that Awakening did. Robin’s memory loss was from them almost becoming a vessel for Grima, shattering their mind, while Alear was attacked by Sombron in a last stitch effort in killing them before dying himself. I feel that Robin’s memory loss plays better in the Awakening story rather than Alear’s memory loss in Engage. I know it is because they tried to strike magic twice with the memory loss, but Alear fell flat compared to Robin, Corrin, and Byleth.
The story is also not that great. Fates and Three Houses really stepped up their game from Awakening by having multiple storylines and alternate endings to have replayability, choosing a different path each time you play. Engage, however, takes a step back, and has one linear storyline, which is a huge bummer for me. I wasn’t a fan at first of the multiple stories, but I found myself entertained by them. Awakening is still my favorite in the franchise, and that is a linear story, but it is one that was told perfectly, didn’t feel cliche, and made me actually feel for the characters. Here, I just don’t care about what happens. I don’t care because I know what is going to happen in the end.
(Credit: Gamespot)
The gameplay mechanics are an improvement for the series. Once you select the character you wish to move, they will follow wherever the joystick leads them, and will stop when you press an option that is available, whether that is just stopping and ending your turn, engaging with the Emblem you have equipped, using an item in your inventory, or attacking an enemy adjacent to your spot. You can be in your engaged form for only three turns, but it will charge over the course of the battle, allowing you to engage more than once during combat. There are different objectives that you have to reach depending on the chapter, such as ‘Rout the Enemy’ which just means eliminate every enemy unit, or sometimes it will be just a ‘Defeat the Bosses’ one where all you have to do is defeat the named enemies.
(Credit: RPGamer)
Once the objective is reached, the chapter will conclude and you will have some dialogue before the afterbattle walkaround, something new added in Engage. After the battle, you are able to walk around the area and talk to all of your allies, regardless if you deployed them or not. You can also find ingredients, items, and animals, I’ll explain those later. Afterwards, you can leave the area and return to the World Map (in the beginning of the game) or the Somniel.
Along with that, the characters are not as memorable as in previous installments. I can name pretty much every character in Awakening, some from Fates and Three Houses, but not that much from Engage. I only remember Alear, but no other names off the top of my head. Also, the character relationships don’t play a big role here, so I do not feel the need to push relationships together. I loved choosing different relationships between my units, but ever since Three Houses, only the Avatar can obtain an ‘S’ rating, with characters having high relationship points going into relationships afterwards. As far as I know currently, the only ones who can be in relationship is Alear and whomever Alear chooses, but the conversations are not memorable and are mediocre at best.
(Credit: Gamer Guides)
So, I bring up the conversations because these are the most memorable aspects of Fire Emblem. The conversations this time around are not as memorable as they were back in the day, where instead of Robin and Chrom embarrassing each other with bathroom run ins, we get Alear blankly talking to one of their allies. I haven’t played Engage in weeks and I cannot recall one conversation that has been memorable.
The Somniel is basically your base, kinda like the school in Fire Emblem Three Houses. You can do different things here, such as cooking for yourself and two of your allies, working out, and training. These are just…okay. I wish it was more like Three Houses, where it seemed exciting to do each time, but for Engage, I kind of just felt like going onto the next chapter and getting it over with. The only part I found exciting, unbelievably, was the ring cleaning section. It is exactly how it sounds. You clean rings…and that was the most fun.
Overall, Fire Emblem Engage is okay, an underwhelming sequel to the amazing Three Houses. It is a vital game to the series as a whole, improving on gameplay, but fails to capture what the previous games did so perfectly. I did enjoy playing it, but at the moment, have no desire to pick it up and play it again. I am more of the story based player, and the tactical stuff second, so with the story being as weak as it is, I cannot just look over it and say it is a good game where it could be improved. All in all, I say you should play it for yourself and figure out for yourself if the game is for you.

Thank you for taking the time to read my post! If you enjoyed reading it, share it with a friend who may also like it as well. Comments are always welcome, but keep it nice. Everyone is entitled to their opinions and shouldn’t be attacked because of them. If you want to hear audio versions of these articles, you can find them on my YouTube channel ‘Screen and Joystick’. I will hopefully begin recording these first two episodes in the coming days. I will be posting two articles a week, starting next week, so I am excited to begin this journey with you all! Thank you for reading! See you in the next post!

Taking care of service members first priority for first aid kit assembly party
A first aid kit is a critical piece of equipment for service members departing Al Udeid Air Base to support military operations down range. To get more news about chest seal twin pack, you can visit rusuntacmed.com official website.
Warfighters can rest assured knowing that the military family at the base supports them as civilian and military members come together once a month to assemble and certify the first aid kits that are distributed in theater. More than 70 volunteers attended the June 15 assembly party, and in two and a half hours they helped assemble and recertify about 1,300 first aid kits.
“It’s a really big job, as we’re talking thousands of kits that need to be certified every month. We are the only recertifying facility for the entire area of operations,” said Tech Sgt. Joseph Gill, NCO in charge of warehouse medical logistics for the 379th Expeditionary Medical Support Squadron. “The need for the kits is always there and has been increasing as we’re seeing more people forward deployed.”
Gill added that Team AUAB is also now receiving and assembling the new Joint First Aid Kits for employment down range.
The new JFAK will be used by all services across the Department of Defense and is designed to fit with the Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment-style protective gear. The new kit has a five-year shelf life and has all of its components individually compartmentalized inside. Two tourniquets are attached on the outside of the kit for quick access.
Gill said the new kits need only to be checked, the tourniquets attached and then tagged. To be sure not to mix parts or processes, Gill holds separate assembly parties depending on how many of the new kits are received.
Gill said there was no way his small staff could process the volume of kits required every month on their own.
“If it were not for our volunteers, we simply would not be able to take care of our service members. They [the volunteers] show up every month and pitch in to get the job done,” he said.
The current Air Force-specific Individual First Aid Kits have a shelf-life of three years. The kits have two vacuum-sealed packages with various first aid components. Every month, the kits need to be recertified by replacing items that have expired with newer ones to bring the kits into compliance for another year.
“It is a unique situation here because we are the hub for the entire AOR and we process a huge volume of kits,” said Tech Sgt. Jennifer Lotan, also from the 379th Expeditionary Medical Support Squadron. “I haven’t seen something like this before where so many people come to help out. It’s pretty impressive.”
Staff Sgt. Timothy Byrd, 379th Expeditionary Maintenance Squadron, has attended a couple parties and said he appreciates the community support.
“I’ve been deployed before to Afghanistan and Jordan, so I know the necessity of having a first aid kit on your person,” he said. “I never gave much thought as to how they were put together, so when I heard they needed help in assembling the kits, I was happy to help out.”
Local Command Sponsorship Program military spouses come regularly to the parties, finding it a good way to give back to the community and build relationships with the deployed service members who attend. They also bring home-baked treats to share with all the volunteers.
“It’s a good opportunity to be able to do something to help support the service members,” said Melissa James, spouse of Brig. Gen. Darren James, commander, 379th Air Expeditionary Wing. “We’re a small group of spouses here, and it’s a different situation for us than being stationed stateside. So this is just a wonderful way for us to help out and to meet and talk with the military folks. I love the social aspect of it. It’s a fun time and for a good cause.

You fool, you've activated my trap card! Prepare for an overly wordy but hopefully respect analysis of an animated movie!
The Society, Canon Events, and Gwen's Living Situation
[Part Peter B. Parker hate post, Part analyzing the society, and how canon events play out in real time.]
I mean Jess was the one who asked Miguel to take Gwen in and she was her responsibility, plus all the people are staying at Spider HQ they should have rooms, even so, Jess 'wanted' Gwen and is her mentor so she's the one whose responsible so shouldn't she be in charge of finding Gwens living arrangments?
Firstly I will say, based on what we see from Lego-Spider-Man (being at work) and Pavitr (showing him at school and with his Auntie) - most Spider-people do not live on campus.
In fact, I'd assume almost all live elsewhere, either with their Aunt May (if she's still living) or own their own - like Hobie, or any of the other older Spider-people.
So I'm assuming the living arrangements there aren't too robust simply because there's little need.
And also, Jess didn't know Gwen knew Peter when she welcomed Gwen. Gwen didn't even know Peter was there. So of course, she'd assume the role of her mentor - until she comes across someone who Gwen openly trusts and likes - Peter.
Gwen never wanted to have an emotional relationship with Gwen. As soon as Gwen asked her 'Adopt me?', Jess seemed taken aback. She wanted to ensure Gwen's safety - which she did, nothing more and nothing less.
Peter however has an emotional obligation and connection to Gwen that Jess doesn't. Gwen is currently going through - realistically, the darkest time in her life, and obviously battling mental health issues.
She needs to be around an adult she can trust and confide in - and the only person capable of that is Peter. He should be the one mentoring her because he's the one who can mentor her most efficiently and give her the help she needs.
Why should the responsibility have to be passed off to a strange rather than someone the child actually feels safe and close to?
My point is that it was Miguel and Jess who should've helped Gwen. Because blaming Peter, you may as well blame Spider-Noir, or Spider-Pig or Peni, should they have responsibility too since they worked alongside the others in the first movie?
Spider-Noir and Spider-Pig aren't in the society from what we know - and they might not have even known Gwen was homeless at the time. Besides, Noir's universe is under the threat of fascism. He's sadly in no place to take her.
Peni is at the Society - also she's a child. She couldn't have helped. If anything, she seems to be going through the same thing Gwen is. ANOTHER L for Peter, as him failing ALL THREE of the children who depended on him in ITSV.
Also sidenote another unrelated topic. Spiderwomen/Gwen had abandoned her dimension for months while being with Hobie/Miguels spider-ciety. So all of her villains and her home she left and never returned to and there was a dimension with NO spider-women.
Lmao tbh I assumed that if something did go down, they'd just deploy a team there to handle it - but realistically speaking IDK how they'd handle it. We don't know if Spider -Gwen IS active. We just know Gwen can't go home or get caught by cops.
I assumed that Lyla watches her universe, and if something comes up Gwen is alerted and Spider-Gwen is deployed, before returning back to Nueva York immediately for a mission report. That way Spider-woman is active and handling the situation - however Gwen Stacy is missing and removed from her home life.
Jess and Miguel disrupted that. If they didn't take Gwen, the Villains would've attacked her loved ones [her dad] meaning the Captain would've died hypothetically since that would've triggered the event if she ended up in the back of her dad cop car mask down for the reporters to see after that art exhibit disaster. by Gwen leaving that must have disrupted an event, and how can Gwen go through her 'canon' events if shes has not even BEEN in that world for months to experience them?
It could be argued the opposite though. That Gwen wouldn't have been revealed if it weren't for Vulture - and that her being revealed is NOT a part of canon.
And by taking her into the society and avoiding having her identity being revealed, they saved her from a canon disruption by being outted.
Because then that naturally gets in the way of canon events like meeting her Mary Jane (or whatever in-universe counterpart they have as her romance) or joining the Bugle, etc. etc.
So far we don't know how long one can delay a canon event, or whether canon event are fixed, and I do think it's something that needs to be explored.
So far I believe that most canon events can be delayed to a certain point, however once the event stops - it's like a video game. You can't disrupt it.
For example - Your Gwen is gonna die on your next date. Things may come up and you may reschedule a couple times, and that's fine. But once you DO go out, and once she DOES start falling, there's absolutely no way you can catch her without some kind of outside intervention (i.e - another spider-person catching her)
That's why Pavi's was a disruption. Since the watch had signified the event was happening, I assume the universe assumes a kind of 'Don't turn off the system' type mode. The same way a video game does when it's saving almost.
And during that time I also HC your watch stops working - to restrict you jumping to another dimension to avoid the tragedy.
And from then on it has to go through the canon event VERY specifically, and then after the universe restabilizes.
So that is to say, her not being there and her dad not dying wasn't a threat to canon. But say, Hobie helped her saved her dad during the moment, then yeah - that's a direct disruption. Delays don't have the effect disruptions do.
But uhhh,, that's just my take on it. A lot of it is let up to interpretation and REALLY open ended, so a lot of this is just me making conclusions based on honestly what seems like the only way the Society wouldn't collapse. Cause I also questioned who was handling Gwen's universe.
I just assumed 'If Lyla can see in every universe Spot is in as well as detect canon events, then naturally she'd probably be able to tell when Gwen's universe is experiencing an attack, and send her to handle it.' etc etc.
Also NO WORRIES!!!! You're talking to the king of overly wordly and unnecessarily analytic discussions about the Arachno-Humanoid Poly-Multiverse! Conversations like these help me realize things and angles about the movie and I'm STILL learning stuff about it.
Plus, since this stuff is undiscussed/open to discussion it's always fun figure out how people assume the Society operates, how they see the characters, and how that effect the way they see the plot.
UHHHH Sorry if this was wordy but also..I'm not. I love stuff like this. Thanks!
Bye.
Pointing fingers at Jess 'pressuring' Gwen to stay and comply-
Let's acknowledge the fact that Peter B. joined the society before Gwen.
He was there when Gabriella died. When she arrived to HQ the first time, she probably saw him.
And it's easy to assume that because Peter was the only adult she knew in that universe HE was probably the largest influence on her staying.
All the times he's desperately trying to defend Miguel to Miles - he probably did that to Gwen for months.
They were together on campus for months - and the whole time Peter - the only adult she knows is telling her "No, he's a good guy! Miguel's just a little rough around the edges!"
Who do you think is going to have more of an influence on her? Jess, who she just met? Or Peter, who knows both HER and MILES.
All those months Gwen was at HQ he could've stuck up for her. He could've HOUSED her.
But nah, let Jess mentor her and let Hobie house her - just look at a pic of his baby.
Peter B count your mfing days!!!!
