I’m going to Lord Apollo’s temple today!!!!!

Kinda. I’m studying abroad and we’re taking a field trip to a cathedral that was built on top of a temple to Apollo. The columns in the baptistery are from the temple.

I’ve been giddy for 24 hours and can’t stop thinking abt Him. This morning I dressed up (as much as I can considering it’s 25 degrees Fahrenheit), wore my new sun earrings and thrifted strawberry handkerchief, and the beautiful celestial twins, the sun and moon were both out to greet me!

thank you so much!!! and YES, i have so many, these are the most important imo:

join your local ‘buy nothing’ group on fb/insta, etc. rich ppl who live in your neighborhood are literally always giving away cool stuff - often brand new - bc they have no concept of how much things are worth and don’t want to bother selling it.

avoid depop & poshmark like the plague. shit gets marked up like crazy - if ur shopping online for vintage, try ebay instead. or find ppl who are sellin’ stuff through instagram.

know your measurements! take a fuckin garment tape measure to the thrift store & measure what you can’t try on to get an idea of how it’ll fit you. people will stare at you for doing this, don’t worry about it.

always always try and find small, local thrift stores. avoid goodwill & salvation army unless they’re all you’ve got in your area. if they are, stuff gets marked down significantly towards the end of the month, and try going to the locations toward the outer part of town. the same shit will be priced higher in like, downtown areas or whatever.

goodwill outlets - with the huge blue bins, are the best place to find weird shit for super cheap but you have to literally dig through huge piles of stuff to find anything. there will be a ton of rude re-sellers there, don’t worry, employees hate them too. plan to get there really early or closer to close for less crowds.

idk if these are just popular in the south, but stop at that yard sale you were gonna drive past! go to the antique mall! find a flea market and spend a couple of hours going through all the insane little booths!

be nice to thrift store employees. they don’t decide on the pricing, usually, and when they do - they sure as hell aren’t going to give you something cheaper if you’re being a dick. we will put aside cool shit for regulars, and even call or message you from our instagram to ask if you want it and it’s the highlight of our day.
