Actually really want to hear your answers for Stiles too pls :)

how i feel about the character:

i love stiles stilinski. full stop. i think he was the best character to come out of teen wolf. i like his relatability, the way they played on his human-ness but still showed that he was there more than anyone else. i like that he has experienced loss in the organic, human sense, and we got to see the manifestations of that in some parts of his personality as well as personal relationships. and i like his dynamic with his dad. i like that we get to see that sheriff stilinski isn’t perfect and how that affects stiles (the wolfsbane hallucination scene at lydia’s party). i like how we’re shown that, in a lot of ways, the sheriff wasn’t always the best parent, but we get to see that there is no doubt that he loves stiles and that stiles loves him back. i believe that we got a pretty accurate portrayal of a slightly complex father/son relationship with them under these circumstances. i also like how stiles was a good source of comedic relief, but that he is also the center of most of the top emotionally-charged scenes in the show. dylan o’brien did a phenomenal job bringing stiles to life, and i don’t think he would have been as impactful of a character were he played by anyone else.

who i ship them with romantically:

derek hale. duh. hashtag trauma bonding for life. i sort of mono ship stiles/derek. while i read fic for a couple of other pairings, i would say they’re my main and the one i enjoy the most. i think it is because they each typically bear the brunt of my emotional projection, so why not put them together, y’know. for maximum efficiency and maximum damage. they are so much alike yet so different. what more could you want ???

nonromantic otp:

stiles/scott brotp for the win. i love good friend scott. i eat it up. it makes me emotional thinking about how much they love each other. it’s sick, truly. while scott may not have been the best in the show, you better believe i am going to read the heck out of some stiles/scott brotp fics as well as write good friend scott until i drop dead. i just adore them together. and in the show as well, where we get to see those moments where their years of friendship really seep through and make certain scenes more powerful (mri hug scene, when stiles delivers his dialogue in that motel california scene). we all know what i’m talking about. see also my peter ask, i like the stiles/peter friendship dynamic as well, i think it can just be so funny.

unpopular opinion:

i don’t like stiles/lydia ): i like stiles, and i like lydia, but i do not like them together. this is not because i’m all boo hoo D: stiles belongs with derek !!!1!1!!1! waaaaahhhh. i just think lydia was mean to him ???? sort of unforgivably so, at least in my opinion. i also don’t find their respective personalities to be suitable for one another. in any case, i just did not think there was enough development to swipe their past under the rug, and i think it was a bit of a cop out to fulfill the trope of finally getting the girl you always wanted, you know. even when that girl repeatedly made it clear she wasn’t interested. (also …. lydia is gay. suppppppeeerrrrr lesbo vibes. sorry. you cannot change my mind)

one thing i wish would have happened with this character in canon:

i was actually talking about this with em, and it kind of relates to my unpopular opinion, but, you know, stiles is bi. like they got as close to confirming it without actually confirming it as you can possibly get. but, with stiles’ personality, he just seems, as a character, much more suited for a male partner. or a female partner who is more like him than some randomized female sim version of derek (cough cough stiles/cora cough cough stiles/malia). like if they would have actually taken a step back and evaluated the character they created and paired him with someone accordingly, it could have actually been really well done. because, in my opinion, stiles has small quirks that are better matched for a mlm relationship. or, they should have paired him with someone with kira’s personality type and lydia’s intelligence, then it would have been much more enjoyable and believable. it feels like everyone they put stiles with was so forced because they were trying to reiterate his “straightness” or highlight his role as the comedic loser who doesn’t know how relationships work ha ha ha rather than actually give him a suitable relationship dynamic as a character. basically, i would have just liked to see him with someone who matched his character better.

HEY HI HELLO! :D :D :D Thanks so much for the ask!

A. Of the fanfic you’ve written, which is your favorite and why?

Oh, this is actually a really hard one, and the answer changes so often. I've been writing fanfic for long enough that at this point, there are so many I've poured so much of myself into, so many that mean something special to me. I think my absolute top favorite comes down to a tie between the Detention 'verse (Supernatural AU) and there's a fire burning in my bones (Julie and the Phantoms post-canon). Detention because of the way it challenged me - I knew going in that I was writing a trope that so often comes across as deeply problematic, but I wanted mine to feel different...innocent. I was so proud of how it turned out, and I rarely feel that kind of pride over my work. TAFBIMB because it surprised me at nearly every turn, the plot and the pairings coming together in ways I never saw coming but which I feel really ended up working when all was said and done.

K. Do you have a guilty pleasures in fic (reading or writing)?

Several tbh. But oh man. Okay, I don't write it often these days, but holy hell I am a sucker for a well done pregnancy fic? (Yes including mpreg I KNOW OKAY.) Which makes zero sense because the idea of being pregnant has squicked me out since I was a small child. But I love reading stories about characters finding themselves in this wholly unexpected situation and dealing with it and making a family and just. GAH. *claws at face* plz don't judge me too harshly LOL.

Also do not even get me STARTED on soul-bonding, okay, this has made its way into every single fandom I've ever written and I APOLOGIZE FOR NOTHING.

L. Which of your fanfics was the most emotionally challenging to write?

Oof. I use my favorite characters as a dumping ground for all my issues, which means that fairly often, I'm a mess when writing them. (Most recently, I wrote a scene where Julie has to say goodbye to her friends, with no idea when or if she'll see them again. I wrote this scene on the same day two of my closest friends, and the only emotional support I had in this city, moved away. That was brutal.)

I guess I'd probably have to say, overall, All That's Best of Dark and Bright, my Teen Wolf fic wherein Stiles comes out as trans. It should be noted that I'm not trans, but I have close friends who are. I've seen how they've struggled over the years. And it did incorporate a lot of my own feelings about coming out in general, even when it's terrifying, even if you have no idea if the people you love will accept or understand you. I still get comments on that story that make me cry. It's not my best work by any stretch, but it's definitely one that challenged me the hardest and made me feel the most.

Bearing the above in mind, I have some guidelines.

I’m only accepting headcanons (nsfw / fluff / specific theme &/or reader), fluffy or filthy alphabet letters. If you send me one shot ideas or prompts, I’m going to delete them because I don’t do one-shots.

One character per ask. I don’t care how many asks you send. But I ask that you only send one character per ask because that makes things a lot more simple for me.

You can send up to 4 letters in each ask if you’re asking for either version of the alphabet. Be sure to let me know whether you want filth or fluff or a mix of both. IE, you could send me something like this; character name - a, b {filth} & j v {fluff}. I’m not saying your ask has to look exactly like this but it does need to clearly state which version you’re asking for. The format I just did above was just the easiest way that came to mind for me.

The more precise you are with the headcanon requests you send, the better I can tailor them to you. If you just want an overall NSFW headcanon or overall fluff, that’s totally fine. But if you want a specific scenario ( friends to lovers, date night, weddings, the sky is the limit here) you need to tell me that. The same goes for if you want a specific reader (POC, plus size, sick, shy, virgin, imprint, etc) then I need to know that. It’s like I said.. The more specifics you give me, that’s more I have to work from.

As far as headcanons go, the things I won’t write are rape, incest / huge age gaps between reader / character. I’ll only write abuse if someone is getting their just desserts at the hands of character on readers behalf. Any asks containing rape / incest / huge age gaps are going to be deleted.

All asks must come to my inbox. I don’t take requests through DM or in comments on a post. If it helps, my anon is on, so you can request to your hearts content.

Basically, what I’m saying here is I have no set posting schedule. At all. I post what I want when I’m in the mood to do so. Just something to keep in mind when you’re asking for headcanons / nsfw alphabet letters with characters.

Good morning! Whats your favorite show/movie? Who are your favorite characters? Why do you like them so much? Also!! Did you have a good sleep?

Okay so I was a film major for a while, and I have opinions. 

Penny Dreadful 

I love this show. Like, so much. I adore it. I can not get enough of that show. Just all of the imagery, and the fantastic writing and acting. The episode intro alone is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen. Eva Green is a goddess and I love everything she’s been in. The take on classic horror stories is So Good, and it actually became the inspiration for my Gay Frankenstein story! (Started as a stitch AU, and then went completely OC after I had Ideas) but the show itself is so intimate? I think it’s largely that the period they’re in, everything was so repressed and restricted. So when the characters break out of those moments, it’s more meaningful. And the love-hate relationship between Ms. Ives and Malcolm in season one? Exquisite.  I could literally write essay’s about this show, but I’ll restrain myself and just say: it’s the best ensemble show I’ve ever seen. The characters come together, but they also each have their own distinct lives that sometimes intersect, but in s2 especially, are quite separate. They are constant with one another like ensemble shows usually portray. Also gothic horror and romance? My absolute favorite. 

Anything by Guillermo del Toro

This man Owns My Entire Soul. I’m not even joking, everything he writes and directs is perfection. Crimson Peak is probably my favorite (I have a stitch AU for this too ;) ) because again, Gothic horror and romance. I’m a slut for that shit. Also Tom Hiddleston and Jessica Chastain? Delightful casting. I think it’s obvious by now that I love tragic relationships, so their dynamic is *chef’s kiss* amazing. they’re so damaged. And this quote right here is one of the BEST things I’ve ever read: 

“But the horror... The horror was for love. The things we do for love like this are ugly, mad, full of sweat and regret. This love burns you and maims you and twists you inside out. It is a monstrous love and it makes monsters of us all.”

Engrave that on my headstone, please?? I’ve got a sort-of Dorian Gray AU (it’s delightful) that’s basically built on this entire premise. Mitch makes the mistake of falling in love with Stiles, and does many terrible things because of it. Mostly to himself, at least. 

I think my love of Crimson Peak is very closely tied with The Shape of Water. another beautiful movie, I could wax poetic about this forever. it was beautifully written, and such an artistic movie. I love the way it was filmed, and the set design, and all of the subtle imagery. Such as Elisa’s apartment being cast in cooler tones, it always felt very damp and had evidence of water damage, compared to Giles’, a mirror image of her own, in more warm tones. This is another one I could (and have) write essays about. There is so much packed into this movie, from the themes on toxic masculinity and entitlement, to the conversation on queerness and race and disability, and how all the various relationships are portrayed. Like. there is so much to pick apart in this movie. 

Aside from that, ofc Hell Boy deserves an honorable mention because i grew up on those movies. I’m pretty sure the Golden Army especially is responsible for who I am today, given all the lore on the fae in that universe. Wow, that explains so much about me... Also one of my first WoW characters was an elf named Nuala xD I still have her, too, and it’s been like 12 years lol

Near-Future Sci-Fi

Sci-fi is one of my favorite genres, I am a huge nerd for theoretical and astrophysics. But my favorite kind of sci-fi is the stuff that still takes place on Earth, rather than epic battles in space. Ex Machina and Annihilation are at the top of that list. Alex Garland is another writer/director that I love. He has the same kind of approach as del Toro, where he puts a lot of fine details into his work. And I love that it’s very cerebral; there are so many layers to Ex Machina. My English 101 prof actually refused to analyze it in class when I suggested it to him, because he didn’t think my class could. Basically handle? Dissecting that movie? Because a lot of it comes across as very surface level, but in some cases when you look deeper, it’s actually suggesting the opposite of what you might think at first glance. (And he was right, my fellow students were awful. I miss that class though, it was one of my favorites T_T Mr. Ryder was an awesome dude and super chill.) 

Morgan is another good example. As you can see, I fucking love androids lol. Which brings me to another of my all time favorite movies: Cloud Atlas. I could literally watch this movie endlessly, I love it so much. The acting, the writing, the filming, all of it is top notch. And one thing they did in the movie that didn’t come across in the book, was reusing the same actors through the different eras in the book. That was just so neat, because it really encapsulates how connected these souls are, as we follow the threads of their story throughout time. If you haven’t seen the movie, I can’t recommend it enough.  

Another one I always think of alongside Cloud Atlas, even though they aren’t related at all, is Predestination. It’s a great movie that explores the idea of fate and free will in a really clever way, utilizes time travel in a very organized way that I think was neat (think Umbrella Academy. They even use briefcases! As you can see, I love sci-fi bureaucracy, it’s fun. In fact The Bureau is another movie I enjoyed) and the main character is actually, explicitly trans, which was cool. You basically get to see the entire story of their life, and I don’t want to spoil anything, but it’s just. So good. Mindfuckery galore. 

Shoot, and I almost forgot! Arrival! That is one of the best movies, and another one I could watch nonstop. It focuses on mathematics and linguistics and I swear to god, I almost altered my entire college course because of this movie. Amy Addams is brilliant, Jeremy Renner is so soft and nerdy, and again, it has an amazing take on time travel. I am very particular about how time is handled in Sci-fi, and this portrayal was one of my favorite. (Most of my physics studies have been dedicated to the theory of time, so like. Strong Opinions.) 

Fantasy

Stardust! It wasn’t until Good Omens can out that I realized Neil Gaiman is responsible for most of the stories I loved as a kid lol, and I had no idea he wrote stardust! But that is such a beautiful movie (I have a Stardust AU lol) and it’s definitely one of my comfort movies. Captain Shakespeare is one of the best characters ever, bless Robert de Niro. I would die for him. Fun fact, i had no idea Ipswitch was a real place until like. 2019. I 100% thought it was made up for the movie 😂

Alongside Stardust, I’ve always loved The Golden Compass. It’s fantasy, but also with that old-timey steampunk science feel, which is so fun and surprisingly difficult to find! 

Mortal Engines also has the same kind of feel, and it was such an epic movie in every sense of the word. I’m a little sad that after all the work that went into it, it didn’t get a dedicated following or fan base, because I feel there’s so much potential in it. But at the same time, fandom tends to gather around media that has plenty of flaws for us to repair with gold, and there wasn’t much room for that in Mortal Engines. 

I’m going to put Jupiter Ascending here even though it technically fits with the sci-fi, because that section is long as fuck and also this movie has such a fantastic feel. Mila Kunis? beautiful. The CGI? beautiful. Eddy Redmayne? One of the best villain portrayals i’ve ever seen. The whole oedipal vibe he had was immaculate, as was their portrayal of reincarnation, and just. The world building. GOD. I get so weak for through world building. Also the fkn intergalactic bureaucracy when they’re basically at the space DMV? One of my all time favorite scenes in movie history. 

Horror

I have very little room in my life for horror. As I said, I have strong movie opinions, especially when it comes to horror movies. I don’t like how most of them rely on cheap jump scares and overused gore and gratuitous rape scenes, instead of, y'know, actual good writing. 

Which is EXACTLY why I adore It: Chapter 1 & 2. It has none of those things, but still manages to be so terrifying. They are my favorite horror movies, and I’m saying this as someone who has genuine childhood trauma bc of the novel. Like. I couldn’t shower/take baths alone until I was almost 10 T_T When I was 6-7 and saw kids play by storm drains, I would run over screaming about how Pennywise was going to get them. Like, I had issues man. I was terrified to see the first one, and wouldn’t go until I could go with my best friend after she had already seen it, so she could warn me when something scary was about to happen 😂

And, one of my favorite aspects of the movie, and the thing that gave me Mad Respect for Any Muschietti? The way he filmed Bev and her father. They have a character who is literally being molested, but they never once have to show it. And yet their interactions are still so viscerally upsetting to watch. Sexploitation puts me off of most horror, and the fact that Muschietti doesn’t use it here, even when it would be actually somewhat justified? *chef’s kiss*. I love him. 

I love horror as a concept, I’m just really picky about it because I expect the writing to be good. I don’t like short cuts. But in a lot of cases, even if I don’t enjoy the movie itself, I love to watch analysis videos on youtube! I love to see the philosophy and symbolism in different horror movies, even if i don’t like to watch the movies themselves. It’s a fun hobby.

The Internship (Bless Dylan, Stuart is such a bitch and I love him) 

American Assassin (ofc. The writing itself is eh, but Mitch is my man) 

Dylan’s episode of Weird City. (I actually have a lot of feelings about this one. Jordan Peele is another amazing writer/director, I really need to catch up on his works.)

Rogue One (Makes me cry every time) 

WARCRAFT (Obviously this is a fav. It made me so happy, words cannot express.) 

Coraline and most other stop motion animation. I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for that. 

Literally anything associated with Tim Burton. Fun fact, when I was 12 and in middle school, I planned to decorate my future house inspired by tim burton. Like, i had Plans. 

Most adaptations of Alice in Wonderland!

So! this got long as fuck! But you said you like that kind of thing lol 😂 I had kinda Eh sleep since I was up so late lmao, and I kept waking up (as usual, rip). And I’m so mad I go up for nothing! The dude I was supposed to show my listing to never showed, and is refusing to answer my calls >_> It’s been 2 hours now, and I still haven’t heard from him. But whatever, I already have a full price cash offer on the house so who cares. And that means I can play WoW all day, now!

Scott McCall stans claiming he's revolutionary because he's totes "femme and queer coded, the queerest and most effeminate of the male cast" or some other delusional garbage is so funny because 1) LMFAO no, he's not and 2) they treat female characters (especially Scott’s canonical love interests) like utter shit despite claiming to love Scott for his canonically nonexistent ~feminine~ traits and mannerisms

Honestly, I have no clue what Scott fans say about Scott. I kind of avoid most Pro-scott stuff because it turns my stomach. So, I didn’t know they say anything about him being feminine or queer-coded, but I don’t really agree with that statement either.

From what I see...Scott’s really masculine? He’s got the shaggy boy haircut (which isn’t really feminine?) thing going...but that immediately goes away and we end up with the shaved sides quiff thingy. He starts off with the layering thing (also not feminine) but switches out to muscle T’s and Henley’s? He’s really beefy, which is seen as masculine. he plays a very high contact sport, which is also seen as masculine. He drive a motorbike which is masc. Even his Tattoo is masculine (no color, no intricate designs, I dunno how people make tattoos masc or femme, but apparently they do) He’s not well read before Season 3, and he only does that as a form of self-betterment (not that I’m knocking any attempt at bettering himself), not because he’s actually a lit buff. Honestly, I have no idea what feminine traits they think he has? When he gets angry he doesn’t cry (which is seen as a feminine response) he shoves people and he snaps lunch trays and leave dents in the walls with his head. V masculine. He cried once when Deaton taught him the pain drain thing...but??? So does Isaac? He works with a vet...and I guess working with animals is kinda seen as feminine? Kinda? He’s not soft-spoken. He’s not very empathetic to most people. He’s not fashion-minded. I’m struggling to think of any feminine things about him? (If you know what they think some of those traits/mannerisms are, I’m actually curious)

As for queer-coded...what? Scott shows no interest in men. He sniffs Danny to find out if he’s a werewolf and compliments him on his Armani when he gets caught. When Stiles asks questions that are clearly a lead-in to some kind of sexuality conversation, Scott barely hears him, let alone cares. He’s very sex-positive, very romance positive. There’s the weird moment with Isaac at the rave, yeah. It was uncharacteristically intimate, the whole “i care about you” thing. But I find it very very hard to believe Scott has any interest in Isaac when he THROWS HIM into A WALL for saying he might like in Allison. TWICE. (And we’re not talking about sterek here, but yes, I know that Derek pushes Stiles up against a wall and smacks his head on a steering wheel and punches his hand. None of those are BODILY LIFTING someone [for the record, someone who was regularly abused for the majority of his childhood] INTO THE AIR and THROWING THEM at  a WALL. Also, Derek is established as having issues being touched/body issues and Stiles made him STRIP in front of Danny. They were both being assholes here.) He gets all smiley when someone at Jungle buys him a drink, but it was pretty clearly not him being excited he got noticed. It was him teasing Stiles for STILES not getting noticed by anyone except drag queens (Which was a horrible horrible joke), hence their little snipes at each other. Hell, Stiles asks if Scott wants to make out with him (just to test. you don’t have to be in love with someone to kiss ‘em.) and Scott laughs at him and walks off. What part of that hints in any way at someone being queer? Unless they’re talking about queer as in like, his gender? Which, I mean, I’m not knowledgeable enough on the trans/non-binary experience, so I guess maybe. But he never seems to show any kind of dysphoria with his body (NOT that dysphoria is required in order for someone to be trans/non-binary. I am NOT saying that.) or an interest in breaking gender norms, or even any interest in the concept of gender at all. Those are all ways in which people are ‘coded’ to be trans/non-binary within media, and I see none of it? Maybe I’m missing something.

As for being the queerest, most effeminate male character...uh...Danny is canonically gay? He automatically wins? Even Jackson is canonically Bi at the end of the show, and in being fashion-forward (which is apparently femme) he technically hits the top of the merged section. (unless you count Danny’s armani as him being fashionable). And if we’re just going for the most effeminate, I’m pretty sure that actually counts at Isaac? With the scarf thing, his trauma causing him to have similar mannerisms to women just by virtue of him trying to look smaller and speaking softer. Especially around Scott? Uh...he’s skinnier than the others, not as beefy (though still v muscles). Anyway, no matter what, I’m pretty positive Scott is neither the most queer, nor the most effeminate male character of the cast.

On the topic of how the Scott fans treat Scott’s love interests, I’m not super familiar with it, but I honestly don’t doubt that someone can both be incredibly proud of effeminate men while still disrespecting women. Women are nurses, men are doctors. Women are housewives, men are chefs. Women like clothes, clothing brands are mostly owned by men. Men are often praised more for things than women, just by virtue of being men.

Hi, Ben!  I hope you are feeling a bit better, or that things have at least calmed a bit!  (I mean I still hope you’re feeling better, but it’s okay if you’re not yet, too.  You know what I mean.)

Wow, Walker sounds…interesting…  I remember watching the original series with my mom, because she liked several of the actors in it.  I can’t recall much in the way of specific detail, but I’m pretty sure there was definitely a lot of probably-questionable-even-at-the-time cultural appropriation-type stuff going on for both Native American and Asian cultures.  And I gotta say, when I think “who can I see replacing Chuck Norris in a role?” JarPad is never the first to come to mind…  I’m not even sure why they felt they needed to reboot that series, anyway, given the potential to be highly problematic.

And I’ve never seen any Winx Club, but that show also sounds very…interesting…  I don’t understand the general obsession with gritty reboots lately (which is also where I feel DC went wrong).  Like, let shit be bright and colorful!  The real world is dark enough right now.  Also not really here for a plus-size character being the butt of jokes and pranks.  We’re well past that sort of thing being okay (and was one of the things I loved most about the Ghostbusters reboot.  Realistically built women, and not a single fat joke to be found.)

Omg, that snippet is so cute!!!  I wish I could draw, too, or at least photoshop with anything approaching skill, because that visual is hysterical.  XD  I can just see poor Noah fighting the urge to pick up a Sharpie and write ‘Migraine #1’ and 'Migraine #2’ on Peter and Stiles’ t-shirts.  XD  (Although between theoretically attempting to look at confidential police files and Mel’s probable reaction to his presence, I suspect Peter is not in for the best afternoon.  [As though his outfit weren’t torment enough. XD ])

Also, I love that idea of Stiles making Peter fight a duel for the right to date his dad.  Like, just imagine Noah getting home just as they’re about to start, and then hearing an explanation, and just being like “…you know what, what the hell?  Let’s see what you’ve got, Hale.”, but like totally giving Peter like his tie or his badge or something to wear as a favor.  (He’s totally gonna date Peter either way, but Peter doesn’t need to know that yet.)

And I don’t know if it will help any, but if you feel the need for some fluff, I got the next chapter of IYWTD up finally, complete with only one bed, cuddling for warmth, a bit of hurt/comfort, and massive amounts of pining.  ;D  (And wow, yeah, that ship dynamic comic fits them so well.  Although right now Peter is still stuck on the seesaw between “What is all this FEELINGS bullshit?!” and “I didn’t say STOP!"  XD )

Hey my friend, hope you’re doing okay lately and that work isn’t too crazy. <3

My mood today has been, *sigh* well, it hasn’t been great. I think it’s because I did my T-shot at 1 am last night and my hormones are everywhere at the moment while my levels readjust. Which would also explain my moodswings and anger management problems in the last week. I’m gonna resolve that by hopefully getting my boxing bag in tomorrow, though with the Dutch Postal service PostNL you never freaking know. Because of the extended lockdown delivery times have been insane lately. But yeah, there’s that.

I did manage to take the garbage out today, folded some more laundry, and put my groceries away. So there’s that too.

With Walker, idk if it helps or hurts that I’ve never seen the original and have nothing to compare it to. But it just felt really awkward to me because of the acting. (I mean the teenage daughter is a good actress, I liked her, but Jpad is very- off in this show) There’s only one episode out so far and I kinda want to give it another shot but it also just- meh. It didn’t feel that special to me.

As for Winx, or Fate: a Winx Saga, it’s- *groan + sigh* It’s not good. It’s not good writing (the dialogue is horrendous, like a 40 year old man trying to write teenagers), it’s not the best acting, although it’s not awful either. I think the writing and the whitewashing of several characters are the biggest problems. Also the plus sized character and the gay character are bullied and made fun of and urgh.

I personally also never had a problem with the whole girls are fairies and boys are specialists thing in the original show. Because to me, that automatically extends to gender and would include trans people of that gender. But I can see why they would update that. So that, I don’t have a problem with.

It’s just the writing that is horrendous and it’s almost like the people who made it have no idea who their target audience actually is and why people watched the original in the first place. 

But yeah, I might “hate watch” another episode just to see if I can poke some fun at it, but we’ll see.

I think I’m gonna check out the next chapter this weekend. I wanna be in a bit of the right headspace for it when I do read it. And not in my ‘everything sucks and I wanna punch a hole in the wall and break every bone in my hand’ kinda mood.

OMG LOU I LOVE YOU SO MUCH I WAS HOPING SOMEONE WOULD ASK THIS!!!

Ok. So. My absolute most favorite fic that I’ve ever written is a Stiles/Derek fic called “It Was Only a Kiss” because in true to myself form, I wanted to write a soft fluffy summer fic, and… well. It turned into something exploring some very serious themes. I kept asking myself how the fic got away from me so much, how did it end up like this, which led to “Mr. Brightside” by the Killers. For the longest time it was called The Yellow Speedo, and like you only know it as that, lol. (I have no idea if anyone will read it, but please, please read the tags first.)

I just love it because it has all the elements I love about fic? Emotional hurt/comfort? Check. Shared baths in the middle of the night? Check. Hair washing? Check. Fierce found family? Check CHECK AND MORE CHECK!

Ngl, it kind of makes me sad that this isn’t my most popular fic, and although I do really like my most popular fic, this one is so much better imo.

31. What’s the nicest thing someone has ever said about your writing?

First I want to recognize all of the comments I’ve gotten on fics I wrote with ace/aro/trans characters, and people saying it helped them learn something about themself. Like, the fact that I wrote something that changed someone is just so… It’s a thing. I’ve never been the most Popular, but that doesn’t mean my work hasn’t made a difference to someone.

That being said, the absolute nicest thing anyone has ever said about a fic to me came on a pre-slash reddie fic called “I Want To Hold Your Hand.”

The way Richie says “Maybe we could do this again. I also want to mention that Lou (pencileater if you want to go read it) wrote one of the best comments I’ve ever gotten on my fic “We Won’t Settle for Less”. I literally burst into tears when I read it. I was at a really low point in my writing confidence at that point and just. <3 It’s too long to post though, bahaha.

Ok, but seriously, it’s hard because, like, some of them have some very heavy themes? And like ?? And I wrote them for different reasons and different fandoms. Like the one I want people read most right now is Death is Just So Full (which I’m posting ch 5 today, don’t think I forgot, lol) but like I know a lot of people don’t/won’t like it. But I put so much effort into it, so much of myself? But I’ve figured out it has like three things fandom doesn’t seem to like, two of which, I will give them. One was me projecting, the other was ??? I have no idea why I did what I did. I blame Nina LaCour and will just say it was the only story I was capable of writing at the time. The other, I’d like the fucking proof that I’m wrong. Because WHERE ARE THE RECEIPTS? *slams hand on table repeatedly* I might be less angry about it if someone could just give me some fucking evidence instead of just saying ‘this is how it was in canon’ like. OMG. *rips out hair*

Ok. Well, that took a turn. But anyways, lol, yeah I don’t know. If you want to read some fluff in the It fandom, read “I Want to Hold Your Hand” because it is just so soft and so nice, and yeah. Just a good lil piece of writing, imo.

Stiles doesn’t bother knocking. Peter had given him a key, and he doesn’t have the patience to stand around waiting for the man to let him in. If he’s even home. Fuck, Stiles hopes that he’s home.

He’s had a day. A…just a really challenging day. Not all days are bad, especially not lately, but. Hormones suck. Testosterone sucks. Sure, it’s the best thing that’s ever happened to him, but his face won’t stop breaking out and his voice won’t stop breaking and Stiles’ body has been aching for the last three days. He got into another fight with his dad which is just…it is what it is.

But he needs a break, and Peter has always meant easy bantering and, more importantly, safety. Stiles has known the Hales all his life, and they’ve been the most accepting of his transition. Probably because they’re werewolves, but Stiles is still incredibly thankful for his pack’s (and hadn’t that been a surprise, being offered an official position) unwavering support in the face of his journey.

It’s why he’s at Peter’s apartment, letting himself in and furiously ignoring the way his eyes are stinging. He knows crying is a good release of emotions, but he doesn’t want to fucking do it. Peter has always been his favourite, and Stiles likes to tease the older man that he’s his favourite too. Peter has never protested, even in jest, which has always made Stiles unbelievably happy—he may have the tiniest crush on the lawyer, sue him.

Locking the door behind himself, Stiles kicks off his shoes and then takes a moment to line them neatly beside the front door. It’s a tick of Peter’s that he doesn’t quite understand, but if he’s invading the man’s space the least he can do is make sure he doesn’t leave his shoes strewn about. There’s a certain stillness to the apartment that has Stiles believing he’s alone, and he lets his shoulders drop heavily.

Well, so much for Peter taking his mind off things. He putters around for a few minutes, riffling through the kitchen cupboards but not finding anything he wants to eat. He sighs heavily when the fridge brings the same results, closing it with his shoulders curving inwards dejectedly. Well, if there’s nothing to eat and no Peter, he might as well take a nap.

That’s something else. Stiles hasn’t been sleeping—he really has no idea if it’s because of the hormones or not—and it’s begun to weigh on him. Being tired all the time is fairly exhausting, which should be obvious, but it still takes Stiles by surprise every time he’s left struggling to stay awake in class after tossing and turning all night long.  

Peter’s bedroom is large. The whole apartment is fairly big—the Hale family has more money than Stiles can actually fathom—and Stiles slinks his way to the closet. He definitely doesn’t want to sleep as he is, and he just has to hope that Peter doesn’t mind him borrowing any of his clothing. 

His flannel slides down his arms to pool on the floor before his fingers hesitate at the hem of his t-shirt. Stiles is alone in an empty apartment and the idea of being shirtless still makes him uncomfortable. He wonders if there will ever be a time when he’s comfortable with his body and then spends a few silent moments hoping for it before he finally peels himself out of his shirt. 

He slips off his binder next and quickly slips into one of Peter’s bigger sweaters. The shirt hangs loose on the wolf, so it fits like a bag on Stiles—which is exactly what he needs today. He takes a breath that expands his chest further than he’s been able to all day, letting his lungs fill and then letting it out slowly. Stripping off his jeans, he keeps his boxers on before he climbs under Peter’s covers, sinking into his mattress. 

The pillow smells like Peter. Musky and earthy and safe, and Stiles tugs another one into his arms to curl around it. A yawn cracks his jaw and has him seeping even deeper into the soft memory foam, feeling cocooned in safety as Peter’s scent and his heavy sheets lull him into an easy sleep.

Stiles comes to with the feeling of fingers massaging his scalp. He purrs, a noise he’s picked up from years surrounded by wolves that his human vocal cords should absolutely not be able to make, and arches his back into the touch. He reaches out to find Peter’s legs, and he wraps himself around one completely, substituting his pillow with the man’s lower body. Peter chuckles, and the noise has Stiles’ heart beating against his chest.

“Well isn’t this a lovely surprise,” Peter rumbles. Stiles presses his face further into the man’s stomach and makes a happy noise when his nose meets worn fabric and not suit buttons.

Peter must have changed before he climbed into bed. Stiles is definitely not disappointed that the man is sitting against the headboard, because that would be extremely inappropriate. Instead of thinking about how much he’d like Peter to lie down with him, he snuggles closer and makes a happy noise when Peter starts playing with his hair, which is just growing out from his buzz cut. 

“M’sorry I broke in,” Stiles mumbles half-heartedly, slipping his fingers under the hem of Peter’s t-shirt in a daring moment of confidence. 

“Sweetheart, this is exactly why I gave you a key. If I did not want you here, you would not have one,” Peter assures him, saying and doing nothing about the fingers that not rubbing the skin of his stomach. 

“Still feel like I’m ‘vading your den,” Stiles says, though it’s with a smile. He’s more comforted than he wants to admit by Peter’s words.

“You will always be welcomed in my den, Stiles,” Peter tells him firmly, and Stiles’ heart skips in his chest as his cheeks heat. Sure, Peter could very well only be saying that because he’s pack, but Stiles knows that he is the only person with a key to Peter’s apartment other than Peter himself. “Oh, don’t you smell lovely,” Peter purrs, the hand on his head scratching down his neck and making him shiver and groan. “This really was such a lovely surprise, finding you sweetly sleeping in my bed.”

“Don’t make fun of me,” Stiles whispers, his voice feeling like it’s being swallowed somewhere in his chest. Peter has never commented on Stiles rather obvious crush on him, but this is coming dangerously close to an admittance Stiles is not ready for. 

“Darling I would never,” Peter tells him sternly. He pulls away, and Stiles makes a noise of distress before Peter is sliding down the bed and lying on his side so they are facing another other. Stiles’ hand is still pressed under his chest, but now his hand is flat against the older man’s chest instead of just barely touching his stomach. 

“Peter,” Stiles whispers desperately, his heart racing. Peter looks at him carefully, his eyes so, so familiar and so very kind.

“You are still very young,” Peter tells him, but it doesn’t sound like a rebuttal or a rejection, especially when he continues with, “and I am a very prestigious lawyer. I know which laws I can and cannot get around, and I fear your father’s position makes the latter a much longer list. But do not, for a single second, think that means I do not care for you, Stiles.”

“What are you…” Stiles can’t finish his sentence, hope swirling up his chest and making him feel vulnerable and weak. He doesn’t like it, doesn’t like the way he can’t meet Peter’s eyes as the man leans in even closer, close enough that he can feel his warm puffs of breath against his cheek. It feels like he’s going to fly out of his own skin.

Peter’s hand lands on his waist, squeezing as their bare legs tangle together. Peter must not be wearing pants either. “You are my mate, darling.” Silence echoes through the room. Stiles looks up to find Peter staring at him intently, his eyes glowing in the dimly lit room. It all feels like too much, and the words run over and over again in his head and make feel dizzy.  

“Why didn’t you ever say anything?” Stiles finally asks, hating how weak his voice comes out.

“Please believe that I did not know, darling,” Peter tells him, and his hand slides up Stiles’ back to cup the back of his neck warmly. “Your scent has…evolved since you began testosterone. I was very surprised to find that you were my mate, but I was not displeased.” Peter stresses the last bit, and it makes Stiles’ lips twitch into the barest of smiles. 

“I don’t know what to say,” Stiles admits. It feels like he’s getting everything he has ever wanted. Like every dream he’s had since he was freaking seven is coming true, here in Peter’s massive bed with the wolf inches before him. It doesn’t feel real, though Stiles doesn’t dare risk pinching himself in case it isn’t.

“You do not need to say anything,” Peter tells him firmly. “I know you understand what the term means, and I also understand that you are still seventeen. I—” Peter trails off into nothing, and Stiles finally moves closer, his own hand sliding around Peter’s back to rest between his shoulders.

“I love you,” he rushes out, the words bursting from his speeding heart. “I love you so much, Peter.”

The wolf smiles at him, a genuine twist of his lips that Stiles has rarely seen directed at anyone other than himself. Peter’s fingers scratch at the back of his neck and make him shiver, and Stiles all but melts in a boneless puddle of goop. “And I you, darling,” Peter tells him warmly. Stiles laughs a little, moving forward to hide his beaming smile and hot blush in Peter’s chest—half-covered by his shirt Stiles has pushed up. “Now, I am sorry for interrupting your nap—” “—dude, this was way better than a freaking nap!—” “—and I feel as though I should let you continue to rest. Would you mind some company?”

“I would love that,” Stiles says warmly, not moving from his spot in Peter’s chest even as the wolf rolls onto his back and takes Stiles with him. He curls into the man’s side, a smile that he can’t push down pressed into Peter’s skin, and falls asleep to the heartbeat of the man he loves, of his mate.

Derek is standing at Jason’s reception desk, looking the same as he does in Stiles’ dreams except that he’s breathtakingly real, from the two-day stubble to the jewel-bright eyes to the little cow-licks in his hair he always tries to gel into submission. Stiles sees the exact moment he realizes that he can’t get a scent, because his eyebrows flick up in surprise and hurt. In the supernatural community, scent blocking is rude to the point of hostility. It means you’re hiding something.

Stiles has no idea what his own face is doing, but after the slip, Derek schools his into something so tightly composed it seems like an admission in itself. It hardly feels like years can have passed since they saw each other last, except that propped on Derek’s hip, chubby hand curled at her mouth...

Emily. She’s grown into that distinctive Hale coloring; pale skin and dark hair. She has Derek’s hazel green eyes, too. Two tidy pigtails curl above each of her ears, held with red bubble ties.

“Oh,” Stiles says faintly. He’d braced himself for Derek, but only him. “Her hair’s longer.”

Chubby Sterek Plot Bunny # 7

So based on <a href=“http://oac47.tumblr.com/post/165930308715/2017-oct-1-vi-jalledo-plus-size-model”>this post</a> featuring a very attractive plus-sized male model that keeps popping up on my dash, I was thinking... ...Plus-Sized Male Model AU? Maybe Derek is a famous male model, well known for both his commercial and artistic modeling, and someone who young Stiles idolizes/has a crush on. And from all the studying and gazing Stiles does on his vast collection of ads and portraits of Derek, Stiles finds himself interested in photography, eventually deciding to peruse it as a career. Only, just as Stiles starts to make a name as a fashion photographer, Derek suffers a family tragedy and stops modeling, basically disappearing from the public eye. Stiles is devastated that he’ll probably never work with his idol, but he’s also not enough of an asshole to begrudge Derek his private life or his mourning. Several years later, Stiles has quickly made a name for himself as both a fashion photographer and as an artist. His shows always feature models of widely varying body types, and his latest is comprised entirely of models of size, trans models, and disabled models. Every photograph proudly displays the body of the model, without fetishization or diminution, but is instead an intimate portrait that shows the beauty of each model. It’s after the opening of this show that Stiles gets a call from his manager (Lydia) who tells him that a big & tall men’s clothing company wants to hire him to shoot for their premier catalogue. Stiles is underwhelmed by the job, but Lydia insists that the CEO of the company has insisted that the catalogue be a statement of body positivity more than a sales tool. Stiles still has reservations, but he agrees to the job. Unfortunately, Stiles fears are realized when he arrives at the shoot to find that almost every model is a cookie cutter of big & tall shoots he’s seen before. Most are slightly taller above average and all of them are muscular, with one or two of them slightly thicker in the torso. On top of that, the coordinator is shouting body-shaming insults at the models, despite their conventional attractiveness. Stiles is completely fed up and is packing his equipment up to leave when he runs into Derek Hale, literally. Stiles would almost not recognize Derek if he hadn’t immediately looked into his eyes and found the gorgeous blue-green-gold eyes of his adolescent idol staring back at him. But aside from his handsome face, Derek has changed over the years, his once thin muscular body padded out with fat, including a hefty belly and thick, juicy thighs and glutes that fill out the jeans Derek’s is Derek g incredibly well. Even Derek’s famous “diamond-edged jawline” has softened and his cheeks only look chubbier with the beard he’s grown. Far from being disgusted, Stiles is floored. He definitely used to find Derek attractive when he was fit and posing in his underwear, but Stiles had learned in the years since his youth that his real tastes lie in men of much more size. Cue Stiles bashfully apologizing for running into Derek and asking him why he was at a shoot like this. Derek says he was hired by the CEO directly to bring a known name to the company’s launch. Of course, it’s at this time that the coordinator starts to ask Derek who he thinks he is and then starts to insult him. Stiles is so enraged that without thinking, he punches the jerk in the face. The set security shows up, along with an older man in a suit. Stiles thinks he’s about to get bounced from the shoot when the security guys grab the coordinator and drag him from the set. The man in the suit turns out to be the CEO of the B&T company, who had hired the coordinator at the insistence of his board, but he had no idea that the man not only had no idea what the shoot was absolutely supposed to be about, but that he was a grade-A asshole. He apologizes profusely to both Stiles and Derek before asking if they would be willing to try this again another time.

Stiles looks at Derek, who seems willing, before another idea comes to him. Asking the CEO if he would be willing to give stiles a little leeway, Stiles calls up previous models of size he’s worked with and asks them to come to a local restaurant that’s owned by a friend of his. With some quick work, and a short trip up town, Stiles manages to save the shoot, producing photos that both show off the clothes, but also show that they are appropriate for men of varying sizes and shapes. Derek is featured prominently, of course, but that’s to be expected as he is the named talent. After the shoot is wrapped, Stiles feels extremely accomplished. Not only did he get to shoot an incredible series of photos that might just help influence the fashion industry in a positive way, but he finally got to work with his idol. Of course, Derek was just as impressed with Stiles’s character and professionalism. He tells stiles that he would love to work with him again in the future, a sentiment which Stiles is only to happy to echo. And after stirring up his courage, he asks if Derek would like to discuss future projects with him over dinner sometime. Derek’s answering smile almost makes stiles swoon, and soon enough, they’ve traded numbers with a promise of seeing each other very soon.

I think I'm going to merge two of my AUs into one: "Everyone Has a Story" and "Winter Wolves.

My most popular series is Winter Wolves. But, believe or not, that wasn't originally the AU I prioritized the most. No, my most valued AU was Everyone Has a Story - a rewrite of the show as I wish it'd gone, with a lot more attention to character development and less fridging.

The thing is, a lot of the Teen Wolf worldbuilding of Winter Wolves is just stuff I originally thought up of for Everyone Has a Story, adapted to a world with the MCU in it. I actually still have twice as many notes for Everyone Has a Story than I do Winter Wolves! I did a tremendous amount of supernatural worldbuilding for the Everyone Has a Story series, but at the rate I'm going, it'll be literal decades before I get to use them in EHAS, and meanwhile, I keep using those ideas for Winter Wolves.

I detail some of the reasoning for it under the cut, but tl;dr version is that the plots would combine really well, and it would give a lot of story to some characters in Winter Wolves that I didn't originally have as much planned for. Granted, a lot of EHAS story would get lost when combined with WW, but honestly, that AU wasn't that popular, anyway, so I wouldn't call it a huge loss.

Plot(s)

The general plots of Everyone Has a Story and Winter Wolves are the same - in that neither of them were contingent on a dramatic change of the plot of Teen Wolf. For both of them, I was going to follow the plot of Teen Wolf while changing it for the purposes of that AU (though both would also diverge further away from canon as time went on).

And ironically, while I'd originally planned for them to both go completely off the canon rails by Seasons 5 and 6 (since most of this was getting planned back during and after Season 4). But Season 6B has actually ended up playing right into the themes I have planned for both those series. *shrugs* Go figure.

Honestly, a lot of my "season"/Teen Wolf plot rewrites for Winter Wolves are watered down versions of what I'd planned for Everyone Has a Story (mostly watered down for breadth/space in the story, rather than depth/complexity).

I'm thinking of sort of abruptly ending the Everyone Has a Story "series' where it is, and instead re-establishing "Everyone Has a Story" as a fic/sub-series within Winter Wolves. The "plot' of Everyone Has a Story would get cut out, focusing primarily - almost exclusively - on character development. The "actual" plot would be Talking Cure, and Everyone Has a Story would be wrapped around that.

I think it says something that it would take very little retconning and editing of Everyone Has a Story, as it currently is, to make it "compliant" with Winter Wolves.

I feel like this would also be easier on readers. Partially because if I kept them as two separate stories, then reading them would get repetitive. But also because, weaving them into one story would make updating them easier.

Character Development

This would involve a lot of greatly expanded and nuanced expansions of characters who I didn't have much planned for in Winter Wolves. Jackson and Danny would take a much more prominent role, especially. Danny's story from EHAS involved, among other things, a sexual assault subplot that was gonna go to some pretty dark places, which could either match up perfectly with the hints of a Rising Tide background for his WW story, or completely work against it. Not sure, yet.

Though this merger would probably mean cutting out a pretty funny abortion subplot. I mean, hopefully I'll find a way to work it into the merger, but I'm not exactly counting on it, either...

The downside is that that I'm probably going to lose Cora. She was barely in EHAS, and not in WW at all. Since I'm keeping Erica alive, I was going to 'keep' her dead/not miraculously bring her back to life for just a few episodes and then pretend it never happened. *side-eyes Teen Wolf* But her plot from EHAS was already incongruent with the story as it was (I wasn't too happy with it), and 'keeping' her dead works out a lot better for Derek's story and the worldbuilding in general. Kinda sorry, but I don't want to include a character just for the sake of it when I don't have much of a story planned for her.

The other confounding factor will be the twins, especially Aiden. I guess I'll wait and see what happens to Ethan in 6B to be sure, but Aiden's EHAS story and WW story don't mesh together very well, or even outright contradict each other, even though they ironically end the same way. Ethan's EHAS story will either fall on one extreme of really not working well with the Winter Wolves universe, or will work really well with it.

The downside is that some characters' stories would be pretty fundamentally incompatible. In particular, Everyone Has a Story was originally built around Scott, Stiles, and Allison as a "core" of the AU, so their stories would get subsumed to Winter Wolves, and most of my EHAS plans for them would be lost.

Gender and Sexuality

I guess I also have mixed feelings about the taking the greater role of gender and sexuality from EHAS and introducing it to Winter Wolves. But overall, I think it would be a good move. All too often, trans characters and queer characters (outside of gay white males/queer fetishization) tend to not be included in fanfic that much, or they appears predominantly in fanfic that is about someone being trans or non-binary or a asexual or whatever.

A big theme of EHAS is that, being teenagers, a lot of the characters are sometimes exploring their gender or sexuality - but at the same time, it always takes a backseat in the story, not because their identities aren't important, but because life-and-death supernatural shenanigans are the main focus. Trans and non-binary and queer characters can have stories that aren't about their identities just as much as straight/heternormative characters do in mainstream media and cis-slash/gay ones do in fandom.

I like the idea of furthering this with Winter Wolves - i.e. teenagers exploring gender and sexuality in the context of not just supernatural drama, but the politics and chaos of the MCU as well. I just don't want those stories to get too marginalized or underwritten, either. This will be a pretty tricky balance to maintain.

Jackson's is going to be the most confounding. His plot was heavily dependent on Season 3, and involved him coming to terms with his asexuality (and still working out a relationship with Lydia who had to come to terms with being aromantic, yet still having quite a libido). In Winter Wolves, though, he's not going to be around for Season 3. I hope I can work it into Season 4. I enjoyed this arc specifically because they were portrayed as highly sexual or romantic in the first two seasons. While not true for everyone, some aces and aros "overcompensat" for their lack of the attraction in their youth, so I wanted to explore these characters from that angle.

Kind of a mixed bag on a trans arc. The only real story I had planned for Cora, herself, was about her being trans. But as I mentioned, a big part of EHAS was that while exploration of sexualities and gender identities was a huge part of the characters' stories, it wasn't the center or entirety of their stories - but I didn't have much of an arc for Cora. I don't want to keep a character around just for the hell of it, or tokenize a trans characer. On the flip side, while I do have a story planned for Hayden, it's a little shallow - mostly just because I was waiting to see how her story would end (I hadn't known until 6B started that she wouldn't be in it), so I hadn't gotten around to it, yet. For a variety of reasons, her being trans would actually work pretty well with the story, and this way, I wouldn't just have a 'token trans character', and could have a pretty solid story about Hayden being a trans girl that isn't contingent on her being trans. (Not to mention that while Hayden's story isn't dependent on Liam, her having a trans arc would actually play well into Liam's arc.)

I've got mixed feelings on how I'm going to include Stiles' story. He's pretty firmly bisexual and that's never really a question for him. But in EHAS, a pretty dark consequence of the nogitsune so thoroughly mind-raping him is that Stiles basically loses his sense of bodily autonomy, which leads to some pretty unhealthy sexual practices and attitudes towards his own body. It fit well with the themes and structure of EHAS, but I'm not sure how well it would work in Winter Wolves, which is a lot more plot-oriented than EHAS, and in which Stiles' arc is a lot more specific to his mental state, rather than his 'relationship with his body' so to speak. Not sure how well I can keep both of these balanced, but I think I can work something out. The downside is that this subplot for Stiles in EHAS was also heavily dependent on Derek, whereas right around the time it's happening is right around when Derek leaves Beacon Hills for a bit in Winter Wolves. (Don't worry, he comes back, and a lot sooner than in canon!)

Gonna be interesting to try to work demisexual!Scott into Winter Wolves, though. His love life in Winter Wolves is, in style, kind of a mish-mash of Bucky's and Steve's comic-book love lives, so it'll be simultaneously very easy and very difficult to rework that around demisexuality.

For most of the other characters, though, my plans for them in EHAS should work out nicely with WW.

Politics

I guess one downside is I'll lose a specific element of worldbuilding with this merger - supernatural politics.

A huge element of the worldbuilding, and the "expansion" of the plot, from EHAS, involved some nuanced supernatural politics...especially a somewhat more realistic take. I've seen a lot of urban fantasy politics, including in Teen Wolf fanfics, that read an awful lot like high fantasy politics jam-packed into a contemporary environment. It's a bit like fitting a square peg into a round hole. I wanted to take on what supernatural politics would look like in the modern world.

But the MCU already has so much politics as it is, that while I could "start" the political storylines from EHAS in Winter Wolves, the reality is most of them would get subsumed pretty fast by the superhuman politics of Winter Wolves/the MCU.

That said, I'll definitely preserve one of those 'political' subplots: the Hunters. Specifically, when Allison changes the Code, she fucking changes the code. While the Argents aren't the only Hunting family, they are the most prominent and longest-lasting, and the leader of the Argent family is often an implicit leader of Hunters as a whole. But that doesn't mean they are the leader, and Allison still has a bit of an uphill battle in effecting real, systemic change. At the same time, Hunters aren't a monolith - even as a lot of people oppose the changes she's trying to make, many Hunters support it, and have been quietly shifting in that direction for a while, anyway. This merges quite nicely with what I have planned for Winter Wolves.

Similar deal with Scott. While not at all a leader like Allison is, being a True Alpha does give Scott some unique abilities even for an alpha, and does get him a lot of attention and a certain amount of wary respect among werewolves, and supernatural creatures in general. He does have to deal with that a lot, which I can carry over from EHAS to WW - though WW actually turns this up to 11, which means the actual, original EHAS story of him dealing with it will likely go out the window.

Stiles' political subplot also goes out the window, but mostly because magic takes a greatly reduced role in WW compared to EHAS. In WW, I'm taking a very scientific bent on the supernatural (as anyone who watches Thor or Agents of SHIELD has likely already started to suspect), whereas in EHAS is was still much closer to the 'fantasy' part of Urban Fantasy. On top of that, Stiles already has a superhero-related political arc in WW, one which is pretty incompatible with his supernatural/magic political arc from EHAS.

Hi, Ben!  Hope you had an overall good day, and that tomorrow’s a good one, too!  I see that Mo was looking particularly majestic today.  :D  Not enough to make that message make sense, but still.  (Perhaps Florida Man misunderstood the idea of looking for pussy?…)  (Sorry, that was terrible, but I’m tired and brain fuzzy rn. I’m absolutely loving all the previews for the cabin fic.  OMG, my body is ready.  XD  Oh no, he got coated in snow…will they have to perhaps CuDdLe FoR WaRmTh?…  Oh no, one of the chairs has to be used to prop the door…will someone perhaps have to SiT In SoMeOnE’s LaP?…  XD  I’m not sure precisely why you think you’re going to hell for this fic, but the majority of ideas I can come up with indicate that I’ll likely also be there riding shotgun on the way, so at least you’ll have company?…  I’ve been fighting off the urge to do a holiday Peter/Noah to fit in with my existing one-shots, or a DILF Club holiday fic where the entirety of the plot my brain can come up with is “and they snuggled in front of the tree”, because I’m trying to keep ahead in my other fic, but between the endless Christmas music at work and the fact that it’s finally consistently cold here, I don’t know if I’ll be able to hold out.  XD

I also love how everyone seems to have the thought that Noah had run-ins with Peter when he was still a deputy.  (I have some ideas for this in the dating fic if I can ever get the freaking scene that it would be relevant for.  XD )  And I agree with most of your ask meme stuff about them, too.  (I can’t do Noah/Natalie, though, because even though I KNOW it’s fiction, my brain just starts yelling “TOO CLOSE TO RL!  TOO CLOSE TO RL!”, and I can’t make it stop.)  And yes, omg, my kingdom for some adorable single dads fic for them!  I am reminded of one of my “probably not going to ever do anything with it” plot bunnies spawned by some comments on a car commercial Ian did a few years back, of all things, where Peter moves back home with his young daughter Malia (maybe also with Liam, because I feel he fits just as well/even better as the lost Hale child), who ends up befriending Stiles, which is how he meets widower Noah.  And then maybe they’ve started dating or maybe they’re still in the flirting stage when suddenly his ex, Chris (yes, THAT kind of ex), moves back to town with his daughter, newly divorced.  And now we’re in a Hallmark movie romcom where he has to decide which one he wants to take a chance with.  (Will he eventually realize that there’s an amazing third option?  Maybe after they get snowed in or otherwise trapped somewhere together.

Since you’ve been posting candid type pics/story ideas, this is one I found that I had almost used for one of the moodboards, because I was like “hey, group of the adults”, but it has Susan in it, and I wasn’t sure if you had plans to bring Natalie into the story or not, so I skipped it.  But it’s adorable and worth sharing, anyway.

And your explanations for Jackson and Ben are entirely sensible and logical, but I still like my theory. XD  I also look forward to meeting whatever future spawn you decide on for the boys.  I can’t decide if it would be more entertaining for Noah’s mini-me to also be a druid or turn out to be a wolf.  Speaking of twins, a friend’s 10yr old daughter said recently “if I had a twin that was five minutes younger than me, I’d tell them ‘When I was your age’ and then describe what I was doing five minutes, ago”, and I can’t figure out if it sounds more like Allison or Malia, but it definitely sounds like one of them.

Apples to Apples is basically like a more kid-friendly version of CAH, unless you are playing with people like my friends, who can find a way to make anything deeply wrong and vaguely offensive if they wish.  And also I feel like there are many incidents of Stiles and Jax getting stupidly heated while playing Candy Land with their little siblings, to the point where they end up banned from joining in.

I adore the idea of clothes sharing (hence me being so determined to find images of them in what I could pretend was the same black button down for the family moodboard.)  And I feel Chris and Peter would have vastly different ideas about what constitutes “too tight” than Noah and would occasionally try to get him to wear some of their shirts anyway, for their own enjoyment.  (The olive green hoodie Peter is wearing in the ep where he and Derek hire Braeden seems very his style, for example.)  I don’t think either of the other two are quite brave enough to try Peter’s “v-neck cardigan worn like it’s a normal shirt” look, though. XD  All of which also begs the question of whether they do it for…other reasons, too.  Like if Noah is ever stuck in an endless budget meeting only to suddenly get a text from the other two of them wearing some of his spare uniform shirts and very little else.  Or if Peter ever comes home to find his Omegas each wearing one of his leather jackets  (because you know he’s got several) and their triskelion necklaces, and suddenly he’s getting “we missed you, Alpha” crooned in both ears simultaneously in a gravelly whisper, and wow I’m getting way off topic here…  Anyway, yes to clothes sharing, is what I’m saying.  (Also, the pen thing is golden.  Just imagine the looks on people’s faces.)

And I like the new preview, am super happy to see Jordan.  I can’t wait to see how he fits into things and helps with everything.  I don’t think I’ve ever really seen an a/b/o that tackled how nb identities would fit into that sort of society, so I’m excited to see it explored.  Also he always tends to come across as pretty calm and easy-going, and lord knows they could use a few people like that right now.

Hope you’re feeling better, and that Mo has calmed some.  I know just how much the pressure changes from storm systems can mess with someone, especially if you were already not feeling the best.

I’ve honestly just been smiling at this the whole day and I managed to write 3.3K to the draft because of this message and the new review by @ready-to-kick-some-ass. 

Right now the chapter has almost 8K on it and I will probably try and get it to 10-12K.

I’m not sure if I’ll add Natalie and if I can naturally fit her into the story. But I definitely know she was a part of the friend group in this universe, so that picture is just really fitting. It’s so sweet <3.

As for the twins, I’ll let you have your headcanons. But I’m not gonna tell too much. It’s fun watching you speculate ^^.

Both of them. Either of them. Malia or Allison would absolutely do this to Jax and Stiles. They’re both about 20 minutes older than their younger siblings, so they would definitely describe something they’ve done 20 min ago just to piss the boys off.

And my god would they be banned. I feel like Chris just listens to them screaming for twenty minutes until he finally has enough of all this bullshit and just bans them from playing that game ever again. Malia is quickly banned thereafter when she gets heated over having to move backward and loses to Ben and the youngest twins. Allison and Lydia take over playing the game with the kids.

And you know they would. Chris has quickly figured out that he can get either of them home within ten minutes if he sends them a risque picture of him just wearing a toolbelt with his hunter gear on it. He’s not wearing anything else, just the toolbelt with the guns and bow and the triskelion necklace. But it works just fine. (The weapons are positioned in just such a way that he’s not actually revealing any of the goods, but he’s also not wearing any clothes. So.. yeah)

Chris and Peter would send Noah pictures of them wearing his uniform shirts while he’s in budgeting meetings or performance reviews or whatnot. Especially during the months when they’re actively trying to expand the family, things would crank up to 100 with these boys. But even when they’re not, they love to get each other riled up with sexy pictures.

Fair point, they absolutely would try and get him to wear their shirts. Because let’s be real, he’d look absolutely smoking in a tight shirt or a tight-fitting hoodie. And seeing Noah in their shirts just does something to Peter and Chris. It’s a matter of staking their claim on their sheriff.

And I think nobody can wear those v-necks but Peter. Chris lovingly refers to them as the porno shirts. Because honestly, only Peter or a porn star could get away with a shirt cut that low.

They certainly need a calm mind right now, and I really wanted to add a trans* NB character who’s also on the aro/ace spectrum and somehow that just clicked for Jordan. I don’t know why. But I really want to explore a society where there are two ‘main sexes’ (both with two variations male and female) and then add someone who doesn’t identify with any of them. And yet said person is probably the most level headed and calm of them all, so to speak. I’m excited to add Jordan to the cast list and explore his identity.

Mo and I are doing okay today, he’s been really clingy after the thunderstorm but it’s slowly getting back to his usual behavior. I reckon he’ll be fine by tomorrow.

Hi, Ben!  I hope your day is going a bit better than yesterday, despite the financial woes.  I spent a large chunk of yesterday trying to pay a bill a day late (because with everything else going on it just kinda snuck up on me and it was past midnight before I realized I’d forgotten it), only to find out I have to now wait until NEXT month’s bill posts and it will combine them, but at that point I can split it into two payments instead of paying two months at once?  Which is really stupid to me, and I don’t know why it won’t just let me pay now, but oh well.  Can’t do anything about it now.

We seem to maybe be past the worst of the storm?  At least, it hasn’t rained or anything all day so far.  The biggest concern by far has been ice build up, because most of what we got was freezing rain and wintry mix.  I’ve included a lovely collage of some of the sights from my adventures taking out trash and trying to remove the ice from my windshield this morning (I figured since I was already dressed and outside anyway, why not have less to do before work tomorrow?)  It wouldn’t have been so bad if it hadn’t involved draping myself across my still ice-coated car to get the middle of the windshield.  I ended up soaking wet from my ribs to almost my knees (yay for being short.)  Also, I didn’t bother looking for my gloves, but then my nails were actually fairly useful for prying up some of the ice, so.  And I’m really kind of digging masks as a scarf alternative.  All the face and breath protection, none of the accidental choking or not staying in place.  (Scarves are pretty and all, but they’re far better on someone like Isaac, who is tall and slender and elegant.  I am none of those things.  XD )  I’m half tempted to reread The Way I Tend To Be or the last couple chapters of If You Want This Dance to not feel like the only one suffering. XD  Although sadly I do not have access to the more successful warming methods present in either of those fics.  XD

And from the looks of it I got about half the descriptions from the links.  Everything else showed fine, I think it was just because those were longer.  And now I definitely feel like Dichali would not be helpful in the least to this overly serious hunter who shows up trying to muscle in on his territory (whether you’re considering it in the literal, figurative, personal, OR professional sense. ;D )  Especially once he realizes that he’s a hunter (no, it doesnt matter how hot he is. XD )  Will Faron know that he’s a wolf when they meet?  (Or will he be suffering from the far more mundane issue of “how are you both so cute, yet so goddamn annoying?!  Fml.” XD )  Will seeing Faron’s interactions with Nate be what helps him realize his own feelings, or will it be something else?  (How will the presence of a new contender affect the betting pool?  XD )  Also, now curious about the other parent of his twins, too.  (I know, I know, I ask that everytime, but I can’t help it.  There’s always so many possibilities, some of which could come back to haunt them [possibly even literally…])  Is he the wolf that was videoed, or was it someone else?  Does he know who it was if it wasn’t him?  Are either of his kids werewolves (or are they too young to know yet?)  Are wolves only born or only made or both in this universe? Also now wondering if Old Faithful is just like an ancient sleeping dragon or something, instead of a regular geyser.

Also, a question occurred to me, and I really, REALLY hope it doesn’t come across wrong, I REALLY don’t mean it to, but if, theoretically, a person’s scent, to a werewolf, if comprised of both things like pheromones and chemosignals, as well as more, uh, physically based, bodily fluid-type scents, if you will, could a werewolf potentially tell if someone is trans by their scent?  (This mostly came from randomly remembering the scene in Pitch Black where Riddick outs the girl who’s been disguising herself as a boy, and then my brain wouldn’t let it go.  Again, I’m really sorry if it comes across weird or offensive in any way.)  And I also wanted to say that if you’d really rather not post any of this stuff (re: your novel) online, you are more than welcome to just email a reply if you want.  I just tend to send stuff this way out of habit.  :D

Glad you liked the DinLuke idea.  It was mostly inspired by a GIFset of scenes of Din not understanding Jedi stuff in the least.  I just figured he’d never be able to fully believe that Luke could just KNOW nothing was there, and, well, no one is supposed to see his face, right?  And he strikes me as just enough of a himbo to completely forget about covering anything else.  One day I will finally see the show, if only to see how correct some of the impressions I’ve formed actually are.  XD

Also, OMG, the “hunters using an adult shop instead of an outdoors/sporting goods shop” thing is brilliant.  And I was thinking of it in regards to TW, because I feel like there’d likely be some classist issues at play there, too.  Like I feel like the Argents would never think to do something like that (well…maybe Kate…), just because they already HAVE all those stockpiles and connections to military-esque supplies, and there’s a certain level of dignity they tend to reinforce (the Winchesters ain’t really all that proud, for all their infamy.)  But then, say, when Noah starts helping Chris with investigating stuff, he’s thinking of all the stuff he’s heard over the years from the vice cops about what they’ve found and seen, and some of the stuff he’s seen on DV calls that turned out to just be neighbors misunderstanding what they were hearing, (and maybe one or two sneaky trips to an out-of-county shop so that he could attempt to be more prepared once Stiles was old enough to start asking questions because he knew it’d probably get weird), so when he decides to stock up on some equipment of his own that’s where he goes, because it’s high quality, specifically designed for what they need, and likely far more affordable.  And the first time Chris sees some of it he thinks it’s both brilliant and kinda hot (and he can’t decide if he wants to know what some of this stuff is actually intended for or not.  Noah is totally willing to help him learn if he’d like. ;D )

Okay, I will email you some stuff since I don’t want to share too much info on Tumblr, but I def want to share a few things.

As for how I’m doing, it’s going okay today. I feel like I accomplished some things with my characters even though I wrote little, but the story and world is a lot clearer and lively in my head. And I know how I want to start this story now.

Physically, I could be better. I got little done physically, and I def had a few moments where I just laid on my couch and couldn’t move. My chessboard has a lot of dark pieces moving to the middle today. It’s a metaphor I have in my house, an actual mini chessboard on my coffee table, where I am the chessboard. The dark pieces are my dark thoughts, and the light pieces are my happy thoughts.

Some days, white moves forward the most. Some days black has the upper hand. But whatever day I have, I am never just the pieces; I am the board and I am the one constant dealing with those pieces. But they are just there, there are never me. Good or bad, they are just pieces. Having the physical element in my home reminds me of that.

Sorry, I went off on a tangent there.

And I definitely get the short problem when having to clean cars, or wearing scarfs. Although I think I pull my green one off relatively well. (I am 5′4 though, so anything long becomes a choking hazard)

The ice is pretty and dangerous though; I guess that’s its duality. But it sucks that everything is so slippery, hope that clears up soon. I think it’s slowly thawing here, so hopefully, my groceries can be delivered properly today. Fingers crossed.

Hope work tomorrow also goes well. Please be careful on the road?

Lol, glad to be of service on the plot detail.  Can not wait to find out precisely how I helped, and congrats on finishing the chapter.  Very, VERY excited for the new one, though if previous experience is anything to go by, it’ll probably show up right about when I have to clock in.  But that will give me something to look forward to during my shift. :D  That game sounds awesome, but so intense.  The other person I know paying it said she only made it about three hours before she had to pause for a while due to emotional overload.  And I’m well used to that authorial tendency towards “sorry not sorry” when it comes to reader reactions. XD

Oh god, I love the idea of them as potentially competing players.  Huge chunks of the unaffiliated/unaffected Houses would get caught up in the rumors and romance of it all.  Chris in the stands getting all kinds of weird looks because he keeps rooting for both teams (uh…no pun intended?).   And yeah, I like Defense Against the Dark Arts and History of Magic for Chris.  Oh god I can see all of them excelling at the dueling club.  He and Noah take Muggle Studies and develop a minor fascination with muggle weaponry.  Ooh, what would their Patronuses (Patroni?) be?  Would Peter be a wolf Animagus instead of a werewolf given their representation in the books?

And I love all the kids reacting to new siblings.  (Jackson will always be the baby, even when he’s not, lol.)  Hmm, I can’t decide if I like the idea of going more fantasy or sci-fi for the nursery (Fables sounds amazing, though, and I feel I need to find some copies.  But perhaps slightly dark for a nursery.)  Part of me feels they could give it sort of Hobbit-y feel, with rolling hills and towering forests, but add woodland characters in from lots of other series, too, scattered throughout the trees (and Ents, and Groots).  Maybe a fake tree in one corner with one or two of those hanging chair things.  But part of me just keeps screaming “OMG OUTER SPACE!!!"  She could paint galaxies and nebulas across one wall.  They could put glow-in-the-dark stars on the ceiling, and have a mobile of Star Wars ships over one crib and one of Star Trek ships over the other.  Gah, I can’t decide!  And Malia (or Peter) would totally need to make them each one of these wolf lovey blankets.  In the correct colors for Peter’s coat, possibly out of the yarn with his fur, so the scent could comfort them.  I actually found a number of geeky hats, etc, that she could make for them (I may have gotten a bit carried away.  Again.  In my defense they’re adorable.)  Now I’m also curious how the kids set up their own rooms in the new house.  Also curious where Ben’s deductive skills might later lead him.

You are very welcome for that image.  It is a lovely one isn’t it?  And can you imagine some of the poses they’d do for photo ops (especially with how shameless Peter is?)  I also think one of the kids would manage to convince them to go out into the Preserve in those costumes to get some  nicely atmospheric shots for Malia’s blog.  At least one of those ends up on one of the walls of the house (nursery if more fantasy themed, living room/den otherwise)  I just wish I could have found better pics than Google was providing.  I refuse to believe there are that few guys that do Red Riding Hood.  I know I’ve seen it at cons before.

Ugh, I have SO MANY FEELINGS about slow dancing together, and singing to/with each other.  Just.  All the yes.  Gimme.  Which reminds me, I was listening to one of the Guardians Awesome Mixes the other day, and it occurred to me that "O-o-oh Child” would actually work fairly well for the playlist, or as a lullaby they sing to their kids (maybe a hand me down from another family member, sung together before everything went to shit, then separately as a tiny point of connection, they start using it again when the newer kids come along.  Maybe they even catch one of the older kids singing it to one of the babies?  Idk, I’m apparently having feels.)

Omg, yes, go to bed, lol!  Sleep is helpful and useful, especially when sick.  (I say, as though I’m not terrible about it as well.)  Enjoy your day off, and the probable many hours of gaming it will entail.

The condom breaking on Noah and Peter had been one hell of a spectacle between the three of them. After what happened with him they’d been on edge and actively trying to avoid another accident. Anu, however, had other plans for them and had caused another pregnancy scare. They could only hope that they wouldn’t have to face reality once again. When Peter had told him he had three heartbeats and his scent had changed, he’d freaked out beyond belief. Merlia had bought him a pregnancy test and Talia had offered to have a talk with his father when it came back positive. He’d declined. He really didn’t want to tell his father that he was currently pregnant. And if Peter and the wolves were to believed, with twins. His father would carve his babies out of his stomach before he allowed him to carry to term. A protective hand rested on his abdomen and he looked up to find Peter staring at him, smiling.

Originally I had written that Chris wasn’t worrying and that he didn’t know he was pregnant just yet. Thanks to our back and forth, I realized, wait a second that’s a really big plot hole and I need to fix that.

I think Malia not telling Stiles was a plot hole as well, but I didn’t catch it on time and it’s not glaring in this case. (I think, I hope.) Whoops.

I’ve finished the game by now and I am very torn on it. On the one hand, I was very emotional but it just got darker and darker as it progressed and we are forced to spend time with a character we don’t like. And the way they wrote that story just doesn’t work for me. Which is really sad because the first game was my favorite game ever. And my Joel cosplay was one of the first cosplays that let me be a dude. I realized I was trans and got comfortable with that fact through cosplay. And Dean Winchester and Joel were fundamental cosplays for this. (I’m also planning a really dope Peter Hale cosplay. I’m so excited. Lemme show you some pics of what I want to do with SFX)

So this game, it’s very intense for me and I couldn’t finish it because of its story. I watched the rest on Youtube and I agree with many that it’s not a bad story, it’s just not likable. And you’re not meant to like it, but when I play games I play them for the story and to know this story is so unlikable. It kinda kills me inside.

But it definitely drives me to write a really good likable story myself. Even if it gets dark, I want people to say yeah, ok. I get it. I understand why these characters did this. But I’m happy this ended well and my favorite characters got a happy ending together. That’s what I want Once upon a Time to mean.

"O-o-oh Child” would actually work fairly well for the playlist, or as a lullaby they sing to their kids (maybe a hand me down from another family member, sung together before everything went to shit, then separately as a tiny point of connection, they start using it again when the newer kids come along.  Maybe they even catch one of the older kids singing it to one of the babies?

I loved this suggestion so much, I once again put it in the story. It’s gonna be sweet but also heart wrenching. I can’t wait to see your reaction.

And once again, I adore all of this. I just have a lot I wanna say, also in regards to your reviews and I’m trying to figure out what things I can talk about.

This story is rather full of men who are uncles, in fact. But not men who are from U.N.C.L.E., that's a different fandom entirely. Am I getting a bit slap happy? Quite possibly. Oh well.)

This had me hollering, thank you for that. I honestly don’t know what my uncle obsession is in this story. It just fits? But this was funny, my god.

I missed that one in the edit, but I fixed it! So there was a space that I missed. New line, new character saying something.

Had a moment of delayed reaction to noticing that Peter says "I've made these", not "I've had these made" (was too excited and reading too quickly the first time), and like, made as in carved himself?

I was wondering why that hadn’t come up yet, hahaha, but I see. And yeah, he carved it himself with his own claws. I thought that had a deeper meaning and that’s where the wood carving headcanon came from.

I think that’s everything that I can address right now. I’m definitely writing everything else down.
