decided it's about time to redo my character refs (and also make an actual character lineup sob) so I'm gonna post those and also ramble about my guys just a bit! cause I've been wanting to actually talk about my ocs here for a while :D
honestly feels kinda weird to not start with Ophelia but Jinny's who I wanted to draw today so :Pc
some more in depth info about my favorite ghost girl under the cut!!!!
Jinny's entire life (afterlife?) has been made up of self sacrifice after self sacrifice after self sacrifice. if you asked how she feels about this, she'd grin and say she's happy to help everyone!!! all the time!!!! no matter what!!!!!! don't worry about me why are you worried about me!!!!!!!!!
when Jinny arrived in the underworld, she was immediately slotted into the caretaker role that would define her for so long. she lives at a little ghost orphanage and takes care of her younger siblings there. she's a little bitter she was forced into this role, but if she doesn't take care of the kids then who will?
one of Jinny's biggest grand plans for taking care of everyone is to become a super duper awesome knight!!!! she's pretty convinced that being a knight will fix everyone's problems forever. too bad this dream doesn't seem very likely given how she's constantly underestimated and oversimplified. :(
but that doesn't bother Jinny — that just means it'll be even cooler when she proves everyone wrong!!!!

watching playthroughs of a couple new indie horror games people are raving about rn and just sitting there after like oh thats it ?
#i swear im not trying to sound different im not a pick me i just dont get the hype bro😭#the artstyles and certain shots are great i love ps1 graphics and such but story/horror/scares wise? sure man whatever#also i dont think a troubling issue that lies in the underlying plot automatically makes a story good (wow brave concept kat) but idk#not naming games bc im scared of fandoms HAHA but if u can apply it to a game then thats what this post is abt as far as u know#i’ll still watch a bunch if explanation videos bc i like fully knowing the story but i already know the whole thing so#also disclaimer (?)#one could argue you need to actually play it instead of watching someone else do it but i dont feel like it HAHA#you dont really have to play the game yourself if youre still getting the same exact content you would otherwise#ive watched a lot of gameplay that i havent played and still think theyre great games#because i still experienced the gameplay just like... idk secondhand? doesnt really ruin the experience imo

#oh my gosh I am so in love with this cute lil show#I loved this so so much! (okay the next few tags are going to be me gushing about this show)#and it’s SURPRISINGLY queer for a kids’ anime from the 90s??#anyway Sakura and Shaoran are so cute :)#and Touya and Yukito are also so cute!! <3#but also? Yue/Touya/Yukito is canon in my heart#Touya gets two boyfriends for the price of one :)#oh oh and a canon nonbinary character!! that was pretty awesome#really though if I ignore the few weird ships this show is like perfect!!#so cute and happy and really well-made#the artstyle was fun and the characters were actually so good!#TOMOYO MY BELOVED#she’s perfect and I love her with my entire heart#her and Sakura are so so cute (but not as a ship cause. cousins)#and I just learned that Tomoyo and Meiling is a ship and I’m?? kind of in love with that idea??#oh and one more thing— that scene where Sakura tells Yukito she has a crush on him?? ER may have been my focus lately but I still think a lot about the Victorian snek with a hat#plus you capture him so perfectly#also I have to say I'm a huge fan of your usual artstyle but I also really dig the rougher style of your MSpaint doodles!#this could be a portrait for when you talk to him in a very stylish point-and-click adventure game#the way the lines frame him. The way you incorporate the white into his dark clothing and his overall pose her#is such a cool mood#if you make the image smaller and the pixels become more pencil drawing-like it feels like a small illustration over a tabletop statline#or a quest's description#in other words your art just gets the thoughts in my brain moving and I really like that!#the small touch of the colored bow on his ponytail is a neat detail too#and you know what I kinda love the way that warm sepia-ish tone feels#and you know what I kinda love the way that warm sepia-ish circle in the back could be the moon or the sun depending on how you look at it#because it plays really nicely into the duality of Cayin's shadowy style with the theme of the sun for Yig#gives a bit of an Autumn vibe to the picture too :y#but yes I could go on- love it. A couple of months ago, I showcased what Mega Man would look like in the toony artstyle of Pizza Tower, though since then I've wondered something... what would Peppino Spaghetti look like had he been drawn by Mega Man illustrators Keiji Inafune and Ryuji Higurashi?

#Star's Art#Pizza Tower#Peppino Spaghetti#Mega Man#Rockman#Coolness#PPN-001: ITALIAN MAN WILL BE REAL IN ZERO SECONDS#Given that I've been on a Mega Man kick lately I REALLY wanted to draw something in the Classic style again#Though this time I wanted to do something particularly challenging... drawing a HUMAN in the style#For those who don't know there are very few humans in the Mega Man franchise drawn in Inafune's style#So references to use for drawing the such are in incredibly short supply#Though a handful of references wouldn't deter me from giving such a challenge a shot...#... and who better to depict in one of my favorite artstyles than your local anxiety-ridden pizzeria owner?#I felt like it was only right to draw a Mega Man-styled Peppino after drawing a Pizza Tower-styled Mega Man#And for my first foray into drawing Classic styled humans... I think I did a fine job!#I think what took me the longest to draw was stylizing Peppino's head to look... for lack of a better term... normal?#What I ended up with was not only something that'd look feasible in the Mega Man continuity...#... but also something that stays true to Peppino's design too!#I've been thinking about drawing myself in the style too#If I can nail drawing somebody like Peppino Spaghetti in this style then it is ABSOLUTELY within my skillset!💙✨

#IT'S IN EVERYTHING WHAT THE FUCK!!!!#my fav genre of music my fav artstyle my fav philosophies and outlooks on life my fav stories my fav EVERYTHING#like if i dont know the artist of a piece i go ''i have a feeling this is a Japanese artist''#and then i look them up and yep!#it's fucking mesmerising really. i mean i did grew up on a diet of japanese culture since i was a wee lil kid but#literally no other culture reflects my inner life like they do. they just fucking get it in ways i can't even explain#a few days ago i was watching a Japanese architect explain the importance of shadows and darkness in Japanese architecture#how they believe darkness makes space for the true self to come forward so the older Japanese structures were always designed in a way#as to allow for a lot of darkness; especially in tea rooms#like. they get me!!!!! it's not even a gothic thing it's just the ability to exist within yourself and exist with your own mystery#fuck i love introspective cultures!!!!!#It also says a lot that the last utterly exceptional story i got into was Blue Eye Samurai#with one half american and one half Japanese producers ¯\_(ツ)_/¯#like on a foundational level far eastern asian philosophies siiing to meeeee.#not the bastardized western version of them. the original thing#anyway please check out yukiko_skri's sculptures on Instagram!!!!

#imptxt#ill talk about it more here#i do actually really like my art overall#i love my artstyle a lot it's so fun! lineless art awesome yay ^_^#i also really like the fact that i can very easily make super experimental art without feeling. bad or something.#BUT#i started drawing later than a lot of other people i guess. i haven't drawn since i was born i started drawing on aj when i was 9/10#and i didn't ever use references when i was younger which has made me incredibly. anxious about using them now :(. doesn't help that i am-#genuinely scared of using human refs because. i feel like they're staring at me#ive been seeing a lot art by people who are the same age as me or younger recently which is. technically a lot better than me currently#like. skills wise or whatever#and the ideas ive been having in my head have also become a lot more. out of my comfort zone/abilities#which is making me feel like i have to improve but. i don't really feel like it at the same time. i just want to have fun#but. i also want my art to be more interesting and dynamic anf just. Cool i want to have cooler art.#i haven't really used any tutorials but.
