Moondrop
uh umm idk i think moon is preetty neat also tumblr user pillowspace posts them a lot so ebven coolee
It's the scrimblo!
feddy
uh.....fuck tiktok?
Yue / Yukito Tsukishiro
he is in aprox 1/3 of the eps... never smiles but u know he cares bc hes got that fiercely protective way of caring. pretty, i want his gender and his clothes and his earring cuff and his literal knee length hair and and
Listen listen!!! Im so obsessed with him. Hes gay, like canonically! He has a boyfriend!! He almost died. Hes not human. His entire life was a fabrication up to a few years before the story starts. Im convinced the anime is a psychological slow burn horror from his perspective. Hes always sweet and kind to everyone. The bi protag and her bi boyfriend both had crushes on him. He played an expired can of sardines in a cinderella play. He is a literal bottomless pit when he comes to food.
I love him
he's just a goofy little guy!! he's always hungry & always sleepy because his body is trying to support Yue without even knowing he's In There. he's so kind and sweet and handles the crushes that two much younger kids have on him with a lot of care and grace. Yukito is best friends/love interests with the main character Sakura's older brother Touya, and when Sakura confesses her love for Yukito, he lets her down nicely and tells her that Touya is his "most important person". at one point, Yukito is regularly blacking out and fading away because Yue can no longer sustain himself without a huge infusion of magic. in the end, Touya offers his own magic in order to sustain him because he doesn't want to lose Yukito. Yukito and Touya even have a cute little nicknames for each other!! Yuki and Toya!! and in another series CLAMP wrote, the two of them often show up as background characters in the cross-dimensional journey of the main characters, implying that Yukito and Touya will always find each other no matter what universe they're born into <3
So maybe he's not your girlfriend who turned into the moon, but he's pretty and grumpy and very loyal!

Why not: A CCS reread, Part 3
It's saturday and I cannot stop myself from reading more. Time to go on with Chapter 13!
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7
Ch13:
I'm just now catching on the resemblance of Nadeshiko to Kotoki from X...
Batting Fujitaka with a stick because for heaven's sake you don't hit on your students, ESPECIALLY when they are still under 18. And not with these cheesy lines, too, sigh.
Oh Tomoyo, you're so dear to me <3 I met her first when I read Tsubasa Chronicles, because I read Cardcaptor Sakua later (I don't even know when the anime aired in Germany. Probably way before my time) It was nice seeing her here in the story where she originates and where her character can be more child and follow her hobbies (cause tsubasa is a bit darker in its theme)
Ch14:
Saving this for reference for when I might want to photoshop something stupid onto the newspaper
Loving the little "yikes" at the size of the bread :DD
Ch15:
I definitely forgot about this woman and that she and Touya had been..a thing? (Geez. I try not to think too much about the ages of the characters in CLAMP works)
You know what, I would have loved to get to know Shaoran's siblings!
Hihihihihi *giggling and kicking my feet*
Ch16:
Awww he's so cute when embarrassed
Sometimes it's a wonder how oblivious Yukito can be.
Ch18:
oooh I'm saving this for a drawing reference because I want to try to imitate this beautiful light effects! Gonna try with ink if I find time.
Ch19:
No, Fujitaka, when an adult man offers your 10 year old daughter some tea and biskuits and invites her to come over the other day, you don't just smile and tell her to go back. I'm shaking my head here very disappointedly. (I know it's a childrens' story so it isn't supposed to be taken that seriously, but if you try to look at it from an older perspective? Phew :D Some choices are really dubious.) (I'm only making fun of this, I'm still very much enjoying this manga. It's just interesting to see how different you can see things once you are NOT the target audience's age anymore) Oh yeah I forgot Fujitaka probably knows the man is Nadeshiko's grandfather, but my point still stands. Ch20:
I'm at the screen play now, and Yamazaki really is the perfect cast for that role hehe
Ch21:
You know I really like drawing style with the no hatching, and the light greytones. Normally we don't see shadows really so scenes like this with dark and light really stand out more. Also I think, this drawing style of the manga might look easy, because it's just outlines, and they are all the same line weight mostly...but I've seen other mangas trying to do it like this and I feel like they didn't pull it off this well. I'm wondering, if you don't really use grey tones to give your characters and objects depth, then at LEAST you gotta have a good feeling for shapes and panel arrangement and such to make it all work.
Good to see that the Light and Dark cards are just your average sweet lesbian couple. Good for them! *thumbs up*
Ch22:
I think I want a fic with Touya working at the most obscure places.
Touya: Bitch, don't be giving me love advice when you're the one who broke up. Sooo this is long enough for a post! Time to make a new one! :)

my dream nendoroids that will probably never happen:
- akiho. She would be so cute. If I could find an already existing nendo with a similar hairstyle maybe I could do something bc I'd just need to get a duplicate of junior high uniform sakura's body and figure out something for the face
-also touya and yukito and yue need nendos too it's honestly a crime
-TOH nendos... good smile I know you have a deal with disney... (I know disney doesnt give a shit about making official toh merch though lmao). Imagine. Amity nendoroid that comes with hairpieces for the green hair and the (pre season 3) purple hair. Luz or eda could come with a little king. They could have tiny versions of their palismen. Willow with a faceplate for when her eyes glow green. Do you see my vision.
-witch hat atelier nendos. One of them would come with a little brushbug. Think about it
-sailor moon nendos like I cant believe they dont already exist like if bandai would give up their grip on sailor moon figures...
#no one asked but this is my blog snf i post whatever and you are my semi captive audience#i need to stop thinking about this because every time im like oh theyd be so cute now im sad it doesnt exist

noa! heeyyy! i want to read something by clamp. what should i pick first?
also i saw a post a while back that talked about a psychological horror manga by clamp but i don't remember it now and i really wanted to check it out too
Ohh it's time to drag new people into Clamp! Now, there are plenty of good manga of theirs but not all are so "beginner friendly", so to put. Also the psychological horror you've heard about is most likely xxxholic but I won't go as far to call it "horror", more like it has that silent "unspoken" note attached to it, gothic vibes and looming sense of vacancy and emptiness in some moments. I'll talk more about it.
So before I start, honorable mentions: Chobits (bit echii but has its message), RG veda and X/1999 (plz don't start with these ones you'll get traumatized) and Clover. I'll include 3 and half recommendations. Also in all stories characters are beyond beautifully developed and three dimensional (honestly that's one of my fav things) and all relationship between the characters are magnificently developed and don't fall onto any stereotypical scale: be it platonic, family, romantic, met 5 mins ago or purely emotional bond it's always unique and fleshed out, so I won't mention that separately. Prepare for star crossed themes and people losing eyes because that's Clamp's signature (but it's like, so well done that even someone who hates amatonormativity and soulmates tropes like I do adores it when it's done by Clamp; it has narratives value as well as metaphorical). So without further ado:
Card captor Sakura
Classic one, probably the most famous Clamp manga. Simple yet powerful story of little girl named Sakura, her friends and family and her magical abilities. One, if not the best magical girl shows I've seen so far. One of the things that specifically stood out for me are the different types of love and connections between the characters and how Sakura doesn't discriminate and accepts people as they are. It's cute, nice plot, amazing characters, little to no angst. Also people usually credit it on LGBT representation back in 90's (Sakura and Shayoran are both bi, as they would fall for one another regardless of gender, Tomoyo had a crush/loves Sakura, Touya and Yukito are mlm couple ect...). Both manga and 90's anime are good, but manga is better imo slightly. Tbh a lot can be said about CCS but I have a feeling you're looking for something with more complex and darker themes.
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicle
This is another classic one. Also to clarify: this manga is a massive crossover, Clamp took almost all characters from TRC (only notable exceptions being main characters Kurogane and Fai) from their previous works; so it's a massive slow burn AU if you'd like it in fandom terms (also found family is so strong in this one). But you can read it without reading any previous mangas as all those that appear are side characters in TRC. Also main characters Sakura and Shayoran have the same soul as ones from CCS above, but are not the same characters- to out it briefly and without complicated explanations: think of it as an AU. I've already mentioned characters and relationships development being gorgeously done but TRC deserves a mention once again since during those 233 manga chaps (28 vols) I've seen one of the most beautiful development of four main characters and complex relationships between all four of them. Plot is about following: Princess Sakura loses her memories which shattered in form of feathers into other universes, and Shayoran paired the price to travel those dimensions (with Sakura, Kurogane and Fai, those you see in pics) in search of them; but at the price of Sakura forgetting their previous relationship forever. Quite tragic and promising beginning. Story is a comedy adventure with slight drama for first 100chap, but there are questions and tensions lurking in the background as foreshadowing. Then things take on a way more serious and dark tone as conflicts, plot twists and character's past and tragedy kick in (it's like, so good). Also the subtle messages and characters backstories/ trauma, how it influences their decision and thoughts now and how they've started healing from some of it - it's A+.
Yes, tell him Kurogane. My only issue ever with this series is its complex and impossible to understand explanation of some things towards the ending. But all in all, 10/10 one of the best I've read. Also Fai is the most beautiful person I've seen like ever and kurofai best slow burn and development and - okay moving on.
xxxHolic
Okay, this one along with Tokyo Babylon is my favorite manga, like ever (they are similar in some ways). I've talked about basics before, so I'll add something new. But what I'll repeat is YUUKO!! God bless that woman and her quotes, English language isn't coherent enough to describe her. Also there's a whole philosophical thematic of wish fulfilling: to receive something, you must give up something that holds the same value to you: no more no less. According to Yuuko, " there's no coincidence, only hitsuzen (fate)" - what that means truly, I'll leave up for debate. Bonus side note: all of the clients are females (in TB all Subaru's clients are too).
Since there are many many arc stories of Yuuko's clients and their wished ("you shouldn't promise anything so lightly", "wishes come at price"), I'll retell one with a monkey's paw so you can see the glimpse of how psychologically intriguing and unique themes of this manga are:
Woman arrives at Yuuko's shop and sees monkey's paw (mystical object that grants 5 wished but at cost of misfortune) and asks Yuuko if she can have it to which she says yes. But to never open it. Woman, being overconfident in her ability to resist the temptation and curiosity, agrees. Of course, it's all doomed to failure : her first wish is to rain all night, which it does - but water is used from schools pool. Second one is to acquire that too expensive for her pocket antique mirror - mirror falls behind her from thin air, ends up shattering. Third one is to write excellent essay for her studies - which she does, but it's all plagiarized and stolen. Then one day she wakes up late for school/work and wishes for an excuse for being late - woman falls in front of her on train rails and dies thus a whole scandal and thus - an excuse. I won't go into what last one is, to leave you intrigued. So the whole point is, as Yuuko said "No one can consider themselves special enough to hold such power over fate of themselves and others". Her idea that she's better than others is wrong - she's not special and above all consequences of her wishes and actions. Monkey paw doesn't care how wishes gets fulfilled, nor does for her. Cautionary tale.
Also life messages, such as this one, this one is reoccurring theme in Clamp's manga:
I know entire xxxholic fandom jokes about Yuuko being beyond perfect but other characters are top notch as well, especially Watanuki, the protagonist. Won't spoil much, but it reminds me of following: Caterpillar in it's chrysalis, learning about world and itself, experiencing, forming connection, realizing that "human being never does entirely belong to themselves, connections to others always exists, always tangling", learning about self value and worth - and them when metamorphosis finally occurs and butterfly is ready to fly free, part of it always remains inside the chrysalis.
I read it for about 10 days or so (23 volumes I think) and it's better to prolong it rather than binge since there are a lot of implications, subtext by words/ panel presenting/ linear not sophisticated background/ symbolism, hidden meanings and life lessons as well as karma. So it's better to read it slowly and carefully to let the message sink and to think properly about it. I think even after 10 rereads I'd still miss something, bless you Clamp on being so detailed with everything.
Tokyo Babylon
Almost didn't add it but there's one thing to keep in mind when discussing this manga: before looking at the series as romance and shonen ai, at its core Tokyo Babylon is tragedy social criticisms drama with philosophical elements. One more note: I've never seen a series so spoiled on tumblr so don't search it up (to be fair, manga ended in '93). Deconstruction of typical coming of age mangas, as ugly sides of reality are always present. Also, this is type of manga that you read twice - once when you dont know, and second time when you do know. I'll never see cherry blossom in same way again, thanks Clamp.
Plot is about young medium exorcist, Subaru, dealing with cases of spirits lingering on Earth being unable to move on due to their pain which is more often than not caused by society, isolation and indifference of a big city (in this case Tokyo). Focus is on emotional, psychological and social themes and that itself (along with characters and their complexity in terms of being human) is what separates this manga from the rest of "exorcism case" media. To paraphrase a quote from series which sums it up really well " Why does this come as a surprise to you? Tragedies like this happen every day in Tokyo". And said tragedies and cases are portrayed not only narratively well, but realistically in terms of cognitive and emotional responses from both ghosts/people feeling isolated with problems and Subaru. For an instance:
Unlike previous two I've mentioned plot here is intriguing and has complex themes as well, but is far more straightforward and won't leave you with any questions about the plot after end (there'llbe other things tho...). Plus there are only 3 characters beside the side chapter-by-chapter ones. Since I can't talk about other two characters (his twin sister Hokuto and his friend/suitor Seishirou) spoiler free, I'll focus on Subaru. What strikes to me the most about him is his kindness, selflessness and empathy but not those traits themselves but rather how they've viewed and portrayed as self destructive trait and a flaw as he feels the pain of world around him and suffers as result where in return world around him (Tokyo) is unaffected and unmoved by his pain. He understands people, but only forms so called "temporary bonds" with them; is numb to his own heart and treats everyone the same (so everyone is special to him by design - thus noone stands out, but this changes within the series).
This manga has one of the best and most "never forgetting" endings I've ever seen in media. 7 volumes long which is not much but leaves the impression for a quite some time.
In conclusion:
So all in all, TRC was my first Clamp manga but I'd say go for xxxholic or Tokyo Babylon since in my personal opinion, as well as judging by a narrative and messages those two are the best. The difference is that xxxholic has that slow slow pacing that kinda lures you into that emptiness of reality and depression like state, kinda like the tarots hanged man card - slow burn waiting for your own metamorphosis, stuck in a loop unable to move on until something within changes. Tokyo Babylon experience is full tarot tower one - you walk down the street and it starts storming and raining and it never crossed your mind that you might be struck by the lighting and next thing you know you're hit by one.
Hope I was helpful :D

Sailor Moon is the only series where I have different ships depending on the adaption. For the most part, manga and anime have the same ships, but the absolute curveball that was PGSM (my favorite adaption, hands down) gave me a TON of new ships I’d have never considered otherwise, who I DON’T ship in the manga/anime.
1. Usagi/Mamoru. Across all adaptions, I ship these two, and the reason is actually funny. I never used to like either of them, so I just shoved them together. It wasn’t until PGSM that I ever liked Usagi at all. I found her to be whiney and annoying in the anime, and once I got my hands on the manga, my dislike of anime Usagi had permeated too deep for me to like manga Usagi. PGSM Usagi is a much more expanded concept of Usagi as a whole, and Mamoru (while still embodying Sailor Moon’s very own Princess Peach) has a whole arc of development and backstory himself. PGSM is the only adaption in which I like Mamoru, even now.
2. Ami/Nephrite, PGSM only. PGSM has a whole side story for many of its minor characters and expands on the girls outside of the concept of senshi. Tbh PGSM is a slice of life show disguised as a tokusatsu, and it’s super apparent in how they treat the characters. Ami has an entire arc of her own where she ends up brainwashed and has several scenes with Nephrite, who is sort of the black sheep of the Shitennou for reasons that are never explained. This fledging relationship continues after Nephrite is reincarnated as human and it’s really cute to see Ami develop outside of her relationship with Usagi (her strongest relationship in this series) and the girls. Nephrite is hotheaded and angry at the world and Ami makes him just so soft.
3. Ami/Zoisite, manga and Crystal. While I very much detest the first two seasons of Crystal for their abominable animation (through no fault of the animators, I blame Toei and their complete disregard of their fans and employees), I DO like that they tried to work in the senshi/Shitennou romance that Naoko hinted at in the art books. It was stupid rushed but it’s the only incarnation that really attempts it. I wish it had had time to develop.
4. Rei/Minako, PGSM only. PGSM only deals with the Dark Kingdom (sadly) and Rei/Minako are its Haruka/Michiru. I actually ship them harder than I ship PGSM Usagi/Mamoru. Several episodes are given over to the development of their relationship, which is not easy to do given the way they took Minako in this series, and Rei is the only one of the girls to even have a real relationship with Minako, even over Usagi. They trust each other on a deep level, and fight with each others’ weapons at two critical points in the series.
5. Minako/Zoisite, PGSM only. Zoisite in this series, like most of the Shitennou, differs drastically from his manga and anime component, and I actually really like this one more than I like him in the anime and manga. Beryl’s hold on Zoisite is the weakest of all the Shitennou, and he spends his time doing exactly three things: playing piano, pining over Mamoru Endymion, and stalking Minako. (Truth be told, I enjoy his relationship with Endymion more, but the one with Minako leads into my next point.)
6. Minako/Kunzite, anime and manga. Minako managed to bag not one but two Shitennou with her love powers and that is a FEAT. You get it, girl. I really like the dynamic of two leaders together, and really enjoy Silver Millennium Minako/Kunzite fics.
7. Makoto/Motoki, PGSM only. This was another fun little thing PGSM did, and Makoto is the only other senshi to have a confirmed relationship in the series. Motoki himself is pretty fleshed out for a minor character, with his own little quirks (turtles!), and he is over the moon for Makoto. By the end of the series they’re engaged.
8. Haruka/Michiru, anime and manga. Who DOESN’T ship HaruMichi? I actually shipped HaruMichi way before I ever shipped anyone else on this list. Along with Touya/Yukito from Cardcaptor Sakura, they were THE definition of LGBTQ+ relationships (for me) for much of my childhood. They have an extremely adult relationship, possibly even an open relationship (or at least Michiru seems to have no problem with Haruka’s flirting hobby), which isn’t really something you see often in anime. I love them, they are goals.
9. Haruka/Michiru/Setsuna, anime and manga. Very specifically during the time they are raising Hotaru. Sometimes a family can be three moms and their child the incarnation of death and destruction and that’s beautiful. They’re just such a cohesive unit that I have a hard time believing that they live together and HaruMichi HAVEN’T invited Setsuna to join them from time to time. They’re also the first OT3 I ever shipped.
10. Helios/Chibiusa, anime and manga. I think the Helios/Chibiusa shippers are as numerous as the Usagi/Mamoru shippers tbh. Like Mamoru, Helios also is a damsel in distress for much of his arc (I guess the Tsukinos have a type, which raises some interesting questions about Ikuko and Kenji), and what I really liked was that, despite the single kiss they shared, it was never really pushed on us? I think Chibiusa/Helios is the first thing I ever shipped without the source material directly telling me to do so, because I wanted them together SO BAD and was SO PISSED they weren’t.
11. Chibiusa/Hotaru, anime and manga. Another ship I put together on my own with no direction from the source material, and the first lesbian ship I ever did that with. They are just too close and love each other too much, and Chibiusa shares more pictures with Hotaru in official media (art books, stills, promo art) than her supposed future love interest Helios! They’re just a very sweet ship, two girls trying to figure out love and stuff.
12. Setsuna/Endymion, anime and manga. Setsuna has a thing for Endymion, but never really seems to transfer that to Mamoru. I do like unrequited ships, and this one is my favorite.
HONORABLE MENTION
1. Ami/Usagi, PGSM. Ami has a huge lesbian crush on Usagi in this version. I’m not even making this up. She ends up brainwashed due to her insecurity and depression that Usagi is replacing her by making more friends and getting a boyfriend. Usagi, of course, is oblivious.
2. Kunzite/Zoisite, classic anime. Classic anime gave us (female) Zoisite and Kunzite (named Malachite in the dub I watched) as a couple, which I actually really enjoyed. I remember being disappointed when I read the manga and Zoisite was not only not female but also not banging Malachite. They were another adult relationship, way before HaruMichi existed, that I looked forward to seeing onscreen. I’m cool now with Zoisite not being female, and Malachite’s real name being Kunzite, but I still really like their relationship in classic. Plus, they’re the only ship that can crossover the adaptions in my brain to form the ultimate ot3 Minako/Zoisite/Kunzite. You get it, Minako.
#sailor moon#pgsm#ffamran succumbs to her ocd#ffamran makes lists#headcanons#i still find it super weird in my head how cleanly i split the adaptions#my brain absolutely will not let me ship anime manga reinako despite my obession with it in pgsm#and similarly i can't ship the senshi with their 'proper' shitennou if i'm talking about pgsm#pgsm is just a totally different point#to the point where i prefer them to their manga and anime counterparts#which makes for a weird blend when i try to write stuff with the series#god i wish pgsm had introduced the outers#how fucking sweet would that have been#the fanbase and demand was THERE#i don't understand why they didn't do it

Comments on Chapter 43 of Clear Card
What’s the most appropriate GIF for this chapter?
Let’s see...
Yes. Yes I think this is the most appropriate one!
Ohkawa last month must have drank something good, really good. Stay with me and you’ll find out why! Spoilers under the cut!
Momo’s backstory
The chapter starts with Momo’s backstory, told by Kaito while he’s taking her measures. We kinda anticipated who-knows-what kind of majestic true form for Momo, but actually, it seems pretty simple? She had longer and beautiful ears in the past, and....that’s about it ^__^” it’s so underwhelming that it makes me almost doubting this is her final form at all! XD
We find out that Momo was born together with the white book, and that book is capable of granting a special kind of time magic to those who make a contract with it...unfortunately, as we CLAMP fans well know, messing with time is NEVER a good idea (glaring furiously at TRC) and this book is no exception: whoever tried to use it before didn’t end up happily...and Momo, out of guilt and tiredness for seeing so many people ruin themselves, almost decided to shut everything down and not allowing the use of the book anymore. Until....a single asshole came into the picture and showed interest in using the book regardless of all the risks...We all know who I’m talking about, right? XD
It’s at that point that we go back to present time, and Momo bashes Kaito for telling her past story in such a sloppy way XDDD We switch to the girls at school, and apparently Akiho decided to challenge herself with a new hobby: starting with plushie clothes, she plans on making an handmade outfit for Kaito. ^___^ you really don’t deserve her, jackass... Tomoyo takes the chance to offer herself as a teacher for both Akiho and Sakura, who needs to do something for SYAORAN’S BIRTHDAY!! Yes it’s coming up and it’s the first time it’s mentioned in canon!!! I’m seriously excited for that....the least we can expect is some tragedy happening. LMAO.
Creepiness intensifies
However, Tomoyo wants to try something out. She takes Akiho’s measures, and she states that not only their height, but also all the other measures of Sakura and Akiho are exactly the same. Okay. Okay this is definitely getting TOO CREEPY to be considered cute anymore. And the girls realize this too, their realization face isn’t really excited in a positive way. Who's got the feeling that Tomoyo might have a theory or two about what is going on? Because it’s definitely not normal for two human beings to be this similar. But thanfully Naoko comes in to interrupt the disconcerting mood, as she’s got something to announce... We find out what that is from Syaoran and Sakura, walking back home: their school is going to participate to an exchanging event with all the other schools of the city (or at least that’s how I understood it), and Tomoeda Middle School will do a school play for the occasion.
No more Sleeping Beauty
Syaoran loses ABSOLUTELY NO TIME in clarifying that he will ONLY be a stagehand XDDDD Sakura lowkey tries to convince him, but he’s even more on fire XD more than 2 years later and he still didn’t overcome the embarrassment of playing as a princess in the Sleeping Beauty play, of which Sakura gently provides us with a memory...
But then...the unexpected happens...the scene that made me say, at the beginning of this long ass post, that Ohkawa got drunk...
Sakura and Syaoran pass by the Penguin Park, and when she sees the swings of the park, she suddenly remembers one of the most painful, heart-wrenching and yet romantic scenes of the whole Cardcaptor Sakura story: when Sakura confessed to Syaoran that she was turned down by Yukito. Sakura reminisces both what Yukito and Syaoran told her, on that day....and Syaoran doesn’t let himself be caught unprepared: he remembers every single word he told her. And, while he recites the same words, which back then were powerful like a magic charm, he’s so serious. I loved how Mokona decided to make him go suddenly serious and solemn in this part. Because his love for Sakura, and the mission he took on himself when he went back to Hong Kong, are like a sworn oath to him. He’s absolutely, without fail, serious about this.
Thank god I found you
Sakura happily states that yes, she finally found The One she loves the most, and who loves her the most in return. Syaoran was right, and the thing she was hoping for was in front of her the whole time. Sakura also sounds so “mature” in this scene, with that “I didn’t understand very well what Yukito-san meant, back then”. My kids have grown up so much, and they still will, from now on T___T
This scene of course caused a ruckus in the fandom, because it recalls all too much another infamous scene in Tsubasa Resevoir Chronicle...actually, more than one. Even the concept of not being able to touch eachother (this time not for a ritual but because Sakura risks to electrocute Syaoran on the spot) is the same, and I am particularly worried for what this will entail once the final showdown will be happening. Cause of course, at this point, it’s pretty apparent this won’t be resolved until the end of the manga... Still, the two lovebirds managed to turn the scene into one of the most beautiful ones, even without touching eachother. That’s the power of their relationship for you. That’s how evocative are CLAMP’s manga panels.
Scene changes to Yukito’s home, of course Nakuru is there, but Sakura came over and she brought Kero and Suppi too. There’s a HILARIOUS scene of Kero yelling all of his frustration for having to witness that sappy scene inside of Sakura’s bag...Nakuru is having the time of her life, but when Sakura comes in and sits down at the table to eat the snacks, she suddenly asks Yukito:
Have you done something?”
aaaaand this is the moment when the whole fandom went...
I have to give credit, CLAMP are particularly GOOD at this. At throwing stuff from left field at the less expected moment. And it’s completely useless to even start theorizing, because the wording is so VAGUE and the timing is SO OUT OF THE BLUE, that one can’t really help but feeling confused. At first I thought (blaming the English translation for this) she was asking him to confess if he was the one casting the spell that is making SyaoSaku unable to touch. But no, the Japanese line is actually very vague and it could be relating to the thing that happens right after: Sakura feels “something”, runs outside, and finds out that it’s already night. Even though it should be, like, 3 pm? (saying that Touya would be back for 4 pm was done purposedly to tell the readers what time was at the moment).
And all we are left with is an intense cliffhanger in our faces, which are more or less like this:
I’ll have to say this, though: SAKURA IS A F*CKING QUEEN.
She’s the sweetest girl, she might seem naive and oblivious to stuff, BUT NO, DAMN SHE’S NOT, SHE’LL SHOW YOU RECEIPTS WHEN YOU LEAST EXPECT IT. She did it with Syaoran before, and now with Yukito. And judging by his face, she definitely caught him red-handed. I will never, never get tired to praise her for this.
What else to say, I really enjoyed the lighter tone of this chapter, especially considering what is going on in the world right now, but I also expect next chapter to go back to creepy atmospheres and anxiety. I feel the finale might be near...we’ll see.
Thank you for reading and let me know your thoughts on this chapter!!!

Chapter Reactions~
Our moon guardians grace the cover art this time, and as always, it’s gorgeous.
This scene reminds me of when Eriol turned daytime into nighttime D:
Did the sun guardians get force-transformed into their true forms?? Or did they initiate the transformation?
This very confrontational moment is kinda scary 0_0
Okay, so Nakuru calls them out---and they switch back. Soooo that means they initiated this transformation cuz they sensed threat?? From Yukito??
I found it really endearing and cute that even Suppi transformed. Like he’s up for protecting Sakura too!!
Yukito being the one to do explanations here~~is HE the one who created this nightscape??
Kaho-sensei!!!! I’m loving her outfit :3
Hmmm I wonder what it is that Yukito is wishing for??
He also confirms he has neither Yue’s magic or memories too. So is it the power/magic to protect his loved ones that he’s wishing for??
Whoaaaa what a revelation we’re getting now with Yukito!!!
Sometimes I still wonder how together/separate Yukito and Yue are. This will get long so I’ll save that for later.
Yukito’s barrier/field thingy reminds me of X/1999... lol. Which also makes me associate it with bad memories and unhappy endings D:
Oh man... Nakuru’s words with that face reminds me of Yuuko!!! 0__0
What price did Yukito pay for this??
I also find it very cute that Yukito wrote Yue a letter :3
Okay so like he paid the price, not only for this new magical power boost (from Tsukimine Shrine), but also to be able to retain his memories/change at will...
Awwww Kero-chan got so angry that he transformed!!
Suppi notes that Yukito’s very similar to Nakuru---I wonder if this also explains why Yukito and Nakuru have been bonding so well as of late.
Wow.... these Touya & Yukito montage scenes... I was not ready for this and I’m getting emotional over it T__T and a BIT teary too...
We get a new card!!! And it looks like Yukito. I’m curious about its functions too :3
Ahhh my thoughts too Sakura!! I hope it will help Yukito out... maybe in relation to whatever price he has to pay for his powers.
Momo’s like pissed cuz Kaito’s going on and on about being “alone” and Momo’s probably like “WHAT AM I TO YOU??? DO I EVEN EXIST?!”
---
Thoughts/Theories/Etc
Oh mannnnnn what a chapter! What revelation too! I’m very surprised that Yukito has revealed all these things, and just the amount of action he has taken?? I think from like the early Clear Card chapters, and the anime, we get hints that Touya’s the one getting his powers back and he’s possibly trying out something new and just “waiting for that moment” to come, but we don’t really think much about Yukito. Nakuru also knows quite a bit about Yukito’s situation, and I wonder how much Yukito (or Yue even) confided with her :3
Yue/Yukito has always been like an interesting subject because with the other guardians, their transformation is more of a matter of switching forms, but like their memories are intact and they’re like the same character regardless of which form they are in. With Yue/Yukito, it’s very different because Yukito has had all this time to create new memories separate from Yue. They each kind of have their own personalities too... I wonder if in the end of all this we might find these two characters either assimilating (possible, since they revealed that Yukito will retain his memories, so that’s sort of a step towards them assimilating), separating (like in the actual physical sense), or just maintaining whatever status quo they have (similar to the assimilating, but not really). Is it even possible for them to separate? I think it gets a little TOO deep once we get into the metaphysical/existential aspect of things >_< but maybe I’m thinking too much into this.
Also, this whole thing also made me think a LOT about TRC/HOLiC. With Yukito making a contract of sorts with the Tsukimine Shrine to achieve his current powers (barrier powers), along with being able to retain his memories and changing at will, I wonder if his price is anything similar to like what TRC-Clone!Sakura had to pay... also is it a price he has paid ALREADY, or is something going to be collected later on? Or maybe it’s something he paid already but we will see the results later on? Like WHAT IF he like gives up his very existence (Tsukishiro Yukito) for this?????! I’m too scared to find out, and I might find myself crying when we do :(
Annnnd the Promise Card!!! This card reminds me of Nothing/Hope from the CCS Sealed Card movie. I’m hoping this will provide a sliver a hope for any suffering Yukito (and subsequently, his loved ones) might go through.

Crol’s Top 10 Cardcaptor Sakura Episodes
Hey all! Decided to make a list of my top 10 CCS episodes. This will include episodes from the original series and Clear Card!
In all honesty I have a really hard time with Top 10 anything, but this was actually pretty easy!
All images taken from suppi.net
10. Sakura and the Sakura from the Dream (Episode 40)
“It’s all right! Everything will definitely be all right!”
This episode feels very off, and I love it. While it’s not necessarily “creepy” in a traditional sense, watching it you just sort of feel off when the group is inside Tokyo Tower. Nobody is around, its eerily quiet. You very much feel Sakura’s disoriented state here, and it truly does feel like you’re experiencing the dream WITH her.
Sakura becomes more and more distressed when she looks out the window and finally sees her mysterious dream fully: with Miss Mizuki being revealed as the shadow figure on the tower. Just as things seem like they’ve reached a breaking point for our dear heroine, the version of herself from the dream comes over, holding her hands, and saying the invincible spell to her. You definitely will be all right, Sakura!
9. Sakura’s Dizzy Fever Day (Episode 39)
“A gentle hand...this hand...it’s mother’s hand.”
Le’ts be honest: I’m a sucker for pretty much any episode that Nadeshiko comes down from heaven in, lol. And The Mirror. This one features both! Our poor Sakura comes down with a fever, but keeps it a secret as to not worry her dad or friends.
Unsurprisingly, everyone around Sakura is extremely observant of her and can tell right away. And then of course, today is the day that The Cloud decides to make its debut. Sakura of course, doesn’t take the day off Card Captor-ing because of her fever, and uses The Mirror to take her place in bed while she runs off to seal it. While this only makes her fever worse, mama Nadeshiko comes down from heaven to heal her. Still being a typical worried mom, even in the afterlife. This episode may not be much to others, but to me it’s very sweet and heartwarming!
8. Sakura and Tomoyo’s Lost Voice (Episode 37)
“This is the second time something like this has happened! It’s always Tomoyo...”
We get to see constantly just how deep Tomoyo’s love for Sakura goes, so I always appreciate it when they show that Sakura loves her dearly, too (although in a very different way than Tomoyo does...). In this episode, Tomoyo is preparing for a choir competition, where she sings a solo. So naturally, a Clow Card is here to steal her voice! I guess it’s just that nice of a voice. Sakura’s look of sheer panic, and the way she drops her pom-poms and runs to the choir room upon overhearing the teacher ask Tomoyo what’s wrong in a panic always gets me. But I think the thing that breaks my heart the most about this episode is how Tomoyo’s mother reacts.
Until now, anytime we see Sonomi, Sakura is around, and Sonomi obsesses over her, almost to the point of ignoring Tomoyo. But now we finally get to see mother and daughter together, just the two of them. Sonomi is immensely worried about her, and holds Tomoyo in her lap, telling her that she will skip work the next day to take care of her. A look of contentment crosses Tomoyo’s features, as if she is thankful that her mother cares so much about her.
Thankfully, everything turns out okay as Syaoran has the idea to use The Song to mimic Tomoyo’s voice, luring out The Voice card so that Sakura can seal it! At the end of the episode, Sakura and friends go to Tomoyo’s choir recital, and Tomoyo tells Sakura that she wants to perform the song specifically for her, and sings “To My Friend.” I have this song on my phone, I love it so much!
7. Sakura and the Sports Day of Flowers (Episode 10)
“Your mother really loved my mother, Tomoyo.”
“Yes! I love you too, Sakura.”
“Me too!”
Another Tomoyo and Sakura centric episode, hah. I remember this episode always stood out to me for some reason, even when I first watched the series nearly 9 years ago.
It’s sports day at Tomoeda Elementary, so of course our highly athletic heroine is excited! (Side note: I love that they made Sakura athletic! It’s not too often you see female characters that are extremely feminine and gentle and also athletic. It’s a nice change). Sakura is having fun: running marathons, doing obstacle courses, trying to compete with Syaoran to win Yukito’s affections....typical! During lunch break, Sakura is introduced to Tomoyo’s mother: Sonomi Daidouji. Sonomi tells Sakura she looks very familiar, and asks Sakura what her surname is. Just as Sakura is about to tell her, Fujitaka shows up, enraging Sonomi. Turns out that Sonomi was in love with Sakura’s mom (who was also her cousin...probably distant cousin, though), Nadeshiko, and always hated Fujitaka that he “took her away” and that she lived out the rest of her days with him.
Something about Nadeshiko’s dynamic with her family, particularly her grandpa and Sonomi (the two she was closest to), is that it seems as though they completely cut her off when she went off to get married at 16 to her teacher (I mean, to be fair, I’d be upset too, hah). As much as they loved her, they didn’t speak to her for the next 11 years, and each carried an immense amount of grief and regret when she passed and they hadn’t been on good terms with her. They were so disconnected that they didn’t even seem to be aware that Nadeshiko had given birth to two children. I can’t imagine how lonely and hurt Nadeshiko must’ve been :(
Anyways, the sports festival is interrupted...by flowers. Thousands and thousands of flowers, raining down. Not to worry, it’s just the work of our friendly neighborhood Clow Card: The Flower! She just enjoys big events like this and wanted to make everyone happy with some flowers! Her power proved to be useful at the end, gifting Fujitaka and Sonomi with Nadeshiko blossoms.
6. Sakura and One More Sakura (Episode 25)
“What will I do if something happened to my brother...?
The Mirror is here! My favorite Clow Card!
People have been spotting Sakura causing trouble around town: messing up shop displays, messing up some children’s sand castles...Sakura is horrified by the accusations, and becomes worried after hearing that people who see their doppelgangers will die. Meanwhile, as Touya is walking home from school, he sees....Sakura? He decides to follow her into the woods as she tells him she’s lost something important in there. She ends up luring him further and further into the woods, where he slips down a hill and hurts his leg.
Back at home, Kero shows Sakura how to use fortune telling to see if it’s a Clow Card mimicking her image. The Clow Card fortune shows the cards: Illusion, Watery, and Shadow. It then shows The Flower, and Sakura sees peach blossoms (which Touya’s name means), and realizes that it is a card that is targeting him.
After finding them with the help of Syaoran, Sakura becomes enraged that this card has hurt her brother. She learns that to seal it, she must first guess it’s name, and realizes that Illusion, Watery, and Shadow were clues as to what this card is: Mirror.
Truthfully, I’m not sure what Mirror’s intention was by luring Touya off a cliff, as she seems to instantly feel guilty (and then later has a crush on him, hah). But I still love her!
5: Sakura and a Game of Tag in the Garden (Episode 77/Clear Card 7)
“I must be more....more...gentle!”
FLIGHT!!! My favorite Clear Card! It’s so cute :) (Fun fact: I made this dress last year! It was my first attempt making an entire outfit so it sucked, but I learned a lot and it was fun!)
Sakura wants to figure out the purpose of her most recent Clear Card, Record, so who better to ask than our friendly neighborhood Tomoyo Daidouji? Sakura and Kero go over to her house and have some fun using Record (another favorite Clear Card of mine). Syaoran also stops by, and thinks Sakura looks adorable in her new dress, hehe. Sakura suddenly begins to feel a presence, and the fluttering of something, and chases this thing all throughout the garden. Turns out it’s nothing but little ole Flight, just feeling nervous because Sakura is chasing it! She realizes then she must be more gentle and friendly with this card, as it seems a bit skittish. Overall a fun episode!
4. Sakura, Syaoran, and the Elevator (Episode 57)
“...SAKURA!”
Oh boy. OH BOY. This episode!! I’m pretty sure this episode would be on any CCS fan’s top 10 episodes list.
Sakura, Tomoyo, Syaoran, and Eriol decide to visit a teddy bear exhibit. And our dear Syaoran...he FINALLY decides (through a fun little musical montage of Sakura running around having fun) that he is going to fully accept his feelings for her, and stop trying to deny them. There’s such a change in him from here on out!
Their fun day takes a turn however, when Sakura and Syaoran enter an elevator that mysteriously loses power (thanks to a certain reincarnation of Clow Reed...). Sakura grows worried, hoping that help will come soon, and Syaoran tries to comfort her. Just then, things really go haywire and half of the elevator suddenly disappears. In the chaos, Sakura stumbles backwards into the abyss, and despite his efforts to save her, Syaoran fails to grab her hand in time (hmm, I seem to recall an alternate dimension version Syaoran that failed to grab Sakura’s hand in time...) Syaoran is completely devastated, and cries out her name, for the first time ever! I believe that up until that point, he had never even addressed her as “Kinomoto” before, so for him to go straight to just “Sakura” was a big deal!
Sakura of course, is okay, having changed The Float to carry her back up to safety. Syaoran is so relieved that he pulls her into a hug :D
Later on, Sakura calls him on the phone to thank him, and asks if she can start calling him “Syaoran-kun” now! Babies.
3. Sakura and the Clear Cards (Episode 71/Clear Card 1)
“Force without master, heed the call of my Staff of Dreams and become my power! SECURE!”
I. LOVE. this episode. I’ve probably seen it 10 times now. It’s the very first episode of Clear Card, and also the first episode of CCS in 18 years! It’s such a perfect intro to the new arc, jumping right into Tomoeda once more! I also wanna say how amazing it is that the voice actors all sound EXACTLY the same after so long!
Sakura starts middle school, Syaoran returns, and OOP! The Sakura Cards go blank! And then a new key/staff appears! And then a new card appears!!
2. Sakura, The Shrine, and The Zoo (Episode 84/Clear Card 14)
“It’s okay. I’m here.”
I remember the night this episode premiered! The whole fandom went nuts. It was great!
Wahh...you guys remember back when Syaoran was a cocky, entitled brat? Who called Sakura dumb and tried to be her rival? And now he’s pretty much the #1 boyfriend ever???
This episode is...weird. Really weird. Up until now the whole series has remained pretty light-hearted...and then this. Sakura accidentally gets sucked into an illusion world where all her friends have become animals. Everything has such a strange, almost side vibe. Even though they are still partially humanoid, none of her friends speak, or even seem to be aware of her presence. And suddenly a giant fiery tree emerges from the ground threatening to kill them all?? And then comes Syaoran, totally not using the Sakura Card “Time”, helping Sakura to calm down and reassure her that everything is okay....T_T
And now, before we get to the #1...it’s time for some honorable mentions!!
- Sakura’s Tiring Sunday (Episode 4)
- Sakura’s Scary Test of Courage (Episode 17)
- Sakura and the Room with No Exit (Episode 72/Clear Card 2)
- Sakura, Rainbows, and Grandpa (Episode 90/Clear Card 20)
And now my #1 pick!!
1. Sakura’s Thrilling Aquarium Visit
“Besides, you...and I...we’re...datin—!”
You guys probably saw this one coming XD But I just love it too much!!
Sakura and Syaoran’s first real date! In the manga they actually went to a botanical garden. But I really like that they made the episode at the aquarium, as it’s a callback to episode 3 from the original series of when Sakura went on a “date” with Yuki to the aquarium! So many great references to that episode, from the tank breaking, Toya being the waiter (lol), the way that Sakura, Tomoyo, Kero, (and now Syaoran) snuck in at night. Syaoran’s interaction with Toya is so funny/awkward, and then he apologizes to Sakura for being rude, saying that he should be more friendly towards Toya since he and Sakura are dating now. Lots of good stuff! And then how Syaoran carries Sakura out of the water after she gets sucked in...:D
Anyways, thanks for reading this (if you did read it all lol) I want to do more posts like this for other series!!
#i've had this as a draft for months and now i'm finally finishing it and posting lol#ccs#cardcaptor sakura

Propaganda below!
Fandub Eggman
Destroyed a large part of the moon because he was mad at a hedgehog and also Obama I guess

Why not: A CCS reread, Part 6
I wanted to go to bed after the last post but there was no way I could stop reading at that point.
Part 1 | Part 2 | Part 3 | Part 4 | Part 5 | Part 6 | Part 7
Ch39:
I didn't remember Yue being so kind hearted to Sakura! I'm really liking him more and more.
"a bit twisted"? Toxic Clow Reed confirmed (joking. Or am I?)
There are some pages in between this scene I didn't post here, but just some...what a cute little scene. Actually Sakura is being so very brave here! And Yukito is handling this so sweetly (though it's not how he thinks it is, like she doesn't like him like she likes her father) Also: Yukito, you don't know how Touya feels about you??? How oblivious are you????
Ch40:
Aah there was a lot of interesting pages about Clow Reed, a past vision, but uhm I was too lazy to take screenshots of that so why don't we jump straight in for the Touyuki content:
You know, CLAMP rarely ever shows typical getting-together scenes or love confessions or stuff like that, but it's shown in other ways. This is basically a CLAMP let's-become-boyfriends scene. (aww 'sappy smile') These two! Man. (I wonder: the part where Yukito falls down a balcony- does that still happen or was that an anime only thing? I'm not so sure now)
I like how we see how Sakura really thought about the subject, even after her talk with Yukito, and tried to understand her feelings and sort them out...and then decided what to do again. I'm thinking, since the target audience for this manga is obivously younger children, isn't it nice to show them by doing this, that thinking about your feelings is important and can help you figure stuff out? I guess it's what I always liked about Manga, compared to western comics and cartoons, because I had the feeling (not saying that it IS so, though. It can very much be just subjective experience) they were deeper, more about emotions, sometimes even when the emotion wasn't directly spelled out. Which makes it so much more realistic! Because in real life, it's often super hard to figure out what you're feeling, and as a child, this is even more of a struggle.
Aaah Sakura, you're such a nice girl.
Ch41:
Oh whoops he knew
Yukito also trying to be considerate and do the right thing...
Aw they all look cute! Ch42:
Oh noo Yukito don't go feeling guilty for that!
(Don't threaten us with a good time)
Yeah ok Ruby is a bit cute and funny. Reminding me here just a liiiitle bit of Fai!
That's it for now and today! Eepy sleepy now.

Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc Chapter 34 Translation
Hi guys. Sorry for the slight delay with the translation this week. I didn’t think I was gunna be off work for the Reiwa/GW festivities this year, but I ended up home after all – with the flu! 😅 The fever is gone now and I’m slowly (keyword is slowly) getting over it.
Here is the translation for Chapter 34, so please enjoy. Thank you to @meimi-haneoka for proofreading.

Chapter 34
Cover Page: “The regular and custom editions of Volume 6 – a huge, huge, huge hit – on sale now!”
P1 Tomoyo: Oh my!! Tomoyo: Li-kun (turned into a child)!?
[Alt: Li-kun shrank!?]
Syaoran: J-just my body. My (mind) was the same as (it is) now. I turned back to normal soon (after) too. Tomoyo: That’s good! Tomoyo: But… Tomoyo: (It’s also) a little unfortunate…
[Alt: I feel it was a little unfortunate… ]
Syaoran: Huh?
P2 Tomoyo: If your mind had also returned to a (childlike state), I wonder what kind of reaction Sakura-chan would have had.
[Lit: …returned to when you were small…]
Tomoyo: And I wonder how Sakura-chan would have handled dealing with (you in that state). Tomoyo: (That would have been something to see)!! It really would have!! Tomoyo: Ahhhh… but if I’d missed an opportunity to film that sort of scene, I could never regret it enough-!! Syaoran: No, (something) that troublesome…
[Lit: …an inconvenience like that…]
P3 Sakura: It wouldn’t be troublesome at all. Sakura: I would have liked to (see that side of you as well).
[Lit: I wanted to try and spend time with the Syaoran-kun who’s little on the inside as well.]
<Both blush at each other> Tomoyo: Of course, I won’t pass up recording something like this (too).
P4 Sakura: Hoeeee!! Tomoyo: However, it’s good that neither of you were hurt and that you (caught) the card too.
[Lit: …neither of you were hurt. And the card too.]
Sakura: Yeah. I’ve been creating them. That’s why… <Sakura pulls out some of the cards that look like her friends>
P5 Tomoyo: Oh my. Tomoyo: Is this Rika-chan? Tomoyo: Oh my, oh my! This is adorable. Tomoyo: I really, truly regret having missed this chance to record after all…
P6 Tomoyo: (Now that I think about it), where is Kero-chan? Sakura: At home. This morning a visitor came by. <Scene changes to Kero at home> Kero: I see. So then you came to Tomoeda, huh? Suppie: Ruby Moon is at Yue… Tsukishiro Yukito’s home. Kero: And so… (you’re here) with me.
[Lit: And so… you are where I am.]
P7 Kero: So, regarding what happens from here on out… Suppie: …Yes. Kero: You’re gunna keep me company to the very end! Kero: (Walk me through the game!)
[Lit: Kero says ゲーム攻略! which means “game walk-through”]
P8 Kero: There’s a dungeon I finished (while waiting on you to respond).
[Lit: There’s a dungeon I finished while you weren’t replying.]
Kero: <to himself> Ahh! I really wanted the (treasure) from that castle…!
[Lit: gold coin]
Kero: Next Stage!! Suppie: You’re really the same as ever, aren’t you! Kero: Sakura (is the one) making the cards, and now that we know that clearly, Sakura will do something (about it).
P9 Kero: Even so, if anything bad happens, (it’ll be up to us).
[Lit: …happens, at that time it will be our turn.]
Suppie: …You trust (her), don’t you? Your current master… Kero: Yup! Because (she’s) Sakura. Kero: Now then…
P10 Kero: Let’s go!! Go forth!! Into the world of games!! Suppie: You really, (truly) haven’t changed at all! (Have you!) Kero: (Hiiiyaa!!) Suppie: (Take that!!)
[Note: They’re just making battle sounds here.]
<Scene changes to Yukito’s house> Nakuru: ‘Morning!
P11 Yukito: Morning Akizuki-san. Nakuru: Where is Touya-kun? Yukito: (At) an early morning part time job. Nakuru: Hasn’t changed a bit. And you? Yukito: I have a lecture first period. Nakuru: Oh. I’m going to that too. Yukito: Huh?
P12 Nakuru: Eriol said (I) should stay by your side as much as possible, so he (filed) admissions (paperwork) to the university for me too. Yukito: In addition to (everything with) the house too… Eriol-kun is really amazing.
[Lit: In addition to the house too… / Note: Yukito is referring to how Eriol got the house set up for him to live in.]
Yukito: <thinking to himself on how to address Eriol> Eriol-kun? Or -san? Nakuru: Well then, (first thing’s first).
[Lit: …before that.]
Nakuru: I’m gunna have you make that oden from last night into udon for me! Yukito: Okay! Oden broth is really delicious the next day!
[Note: Here’s a link again for anyone who missed what oden was a few chapters ago. You can often reuse the dashi broth if you have it left over like they’re doing here. In this case, for breakfast udon!]
P13 Yukito: As soon as I’ve watered the plants, I’ll get it heated up. Yukito: <to himself> How many eggs should I have?? Nakuru: For real, you really are just as carefree as always. Nakuru: …If you could always stay that way, that would be the best. <Scene changes to Sakura’s school>
P14 Sakura: I’m so glad it’s sunny out! Chiharu: Yeah, (especially since) we’re at the pool for gym class today. Tomoyo: And you’re really good at swimming, Sakura-chan. Sakura: I dunno about good at it, but I do love swimming. Akiho: Good morning! Everyone: Morning! Sakura: Morning, Akiho-chan! (Did you bring-)
[Note: Sakura actually says “Swimsuit” here, since the Japanese sentence would start with that.]
P15 Sakura: <thinking> …What…? Akiho: Sakura-san? <Sakura looks unnerved>
P16 Sakura: Ah, sorry. Did you bring your swimsuit? Akiho: Yes! Akiho: It’s amazing that you can swim at school! Tomoyo: Do they not have swim classes overseas? Akiho: Not at (the schools) I attended…
[Lit: Not at the place I attended…]
Sakura: <thinking> …I wonder why… Looking at Akiho-chan (made me) somehow very… uneasy…
P17 <Sakura continues to look uneasy> Syaoran: What’s wrong?
[Alt: What happened?]
P18 Sakura: When you look at Akiho-chan, do you sense anything? Syaoran: At Shinomoto? Syaoran: Not at all… Sakura: …I wonder if it’s my imagination. Syaoran: <thinking> Even if she doesn’t have any magic, Yuna D. Kaito is Shinomoto’s butler.
P19 Syaoran: <thinking> …(He) might have performed some kind of spell… Syaoran: <tries to speak> …… Syaoran: <thinking> …Just as I thought, I can’t say anything… Naoko: Are you good at swimming, Akiho-chan? Akiho: I haven’t had too many chances, but I enjoy it. Chiharu: Well, you do have good reflexes.
P20 Naoko: You’re like Sakura-chan in that way too. Akiho: !! <Sakura smiles and Akiho is happy for the compliment> Yamazaki: Speaking of swimming! Chiharu: Yeah, yeah, we (don’t need) any lies.
P21 Yamazaki: That hairstyle is cute too. Yamazaki: That’s no lie. <Chiharu blushes> Chiharu: You idiot! Yamazaki-kun, you’re an idiot! Naoko: They get along so well, don’t they? Tomoyo: (They) really (do).
P22 <Meanwhile, Kaito is sitting in a tree outside…> Momo: What are you doing, Yuna D. Kaito? Kaito: I was out shopping. Kaito: And… Sakura-san has realized why the cards are (appearing)…
P23 Momo: So you came to cause trouble. Kaito: That’s exactly right. Kaito: That and…
P24 <Sakura senses something happening> Syaoran: What’s wrong? Sakura: …Just now… <The lights go out and everyone freezes>
P25 Syaoran: Everyone… has stopped… Sakura: Is this also… (because of) me?
[Alt: Am I also doing this?]
Syaoran: No, (this is) different. There’s another magical presence. Syaoran: (It has to be…)
[Lit: It’s surely…]
Syaoran: <once again can’t speak> ……
P26 Syaoran: Dammit…! Sakura: <thinking> I know this… This isn’t me… This is someone (else’s) magic… Sakura: Release! Syaoran: Sakura!
P27 Sakura: “Reflect!” Akiho: <Voice #1> New magic.
[Note: Due to the fonts used in Akiho’s speech bubbles, it seems that multiple people are speaking through her.]
<Sakura turns to look at her>
P28 Akiho: <Voice #2> Strong power. Akiho: <Voice #3> So strong. Akiho: <Voice #4> It’s not what was written in the book. Akiho: <Voice #5> However… we must bind it inside…
P29 Akiho: <Voice #5> Inside this book. Syaoran: Sakura!! Narration: What (is happening) with Akiho…!? The shocking development you can’t miss!
<To be continued>
…Seriously though, the book she’s getting sucked into had better be Winds of Winter, because I am not ready for these last 3 eps of Game of Thrones…

Cardcaptor Sakura Clear Card episode 19 was a lot of fun! The vast majority of the episode is spent reading a picture book at the hospital to some children, and it’s a really nice time. Akiho and Sakura have the sweetest deliveries, Akiho gets to sing and it’s great, Syaoran has a little piano accompaniment to go with the show, and even Yukito’s in the audience having fun with all the kids, who are also a really fun audience. Next episode’s preview is about Sakura going to see her granddad, so between that and this episode, Clear Card’s basically delivered on everything it promised, which is really nice. Of note are two other major things in this episode.
The first is that Sakura used Record to record their reading, but fucked up and recorded an event from over 30 years in the past instead. What a classic blunder. She doesn’t think much of it because she doesn’t process that it was a past event, but Kero-chan and Yue use the whole thing to talk about Sakura’s ever-increasing powers, since apparently Clow Reed and 3 others are the only mages to ever exist who are powerful enough to look back into time. Given that Kaito is functionally the “antagonist” as of now and has time related powers, I’m assuming Sakura doing this means her own ability to peak into the past will have meaningful application as we approach the end, rather than just be a generic showcase of her power. Hopefully.
The other big meaningful thing is that, Sakura has to like, hold Syaoran’s sleeve to try get him to play at the book reading, and Tomoyo comments that Sakura’s attack dropped Syaoran’s HP down to 0. Immediately following this, Sakura holds Akiho’s hands to try persuade her, and Tomoyo makes the same comment! Now she’s pretty fucking good at reading people’s feelings we’ve gathered that, and given Tomoyo’s own feelings for Sakura + Yukito’s feelings for Touya and Yue’s for Clow and Syaoran’s initial feelings for Yukito, Cardcaptor Sakura isn’t a show that shies away from having gay characters. So does Akiho maybe have a bit of a yuri crush on Sakura? I hope so, because that’d be pretty epic.
Anyway, we’ve only got 3 episodes left. So fuck it, let’s just keep going today and finish the show! Episode 20 was a bit of an odd one. Like said, we spend the episode going up to see Sakura’s granddad, Syaoran’s here too because he wants to meet the guy stealing away his next cute granddaughter. But what’s weird is that, remember how in the 90s anime Sakura never really “met” her granddad – instead she met a kind old man who knew she was his own granddaughter but she never learned who he was? And then way later when she got him a birthday present, it was delivered by her dad, so she still didn’t know her granddad was that friendly old man? Yeah this episode kinda just, ignores that. For the sake of this episode, Sakura’s granddad and that friendly old man were literally never separate entities in Sakura’s mind, which upsets me a lot, because I really liked the way they did his character in the 90s anime and I’d love for Clear Card to maybe show us Sakura’s reaction to learning the whole thing, she’d be so cute and happy and it’d be so great but, no, they just kinda gloss over that. Speaking of, I really do mean Sakura in the last episode didn’t process that Record had captured past events, she was all “oh, I’m not here, Syaoran and Yukito and Akiho aren’t here, I must’ve done something wrong” and that’s it, she moves on, and when Kero-chan leaves to talk to Yue about it he doesn’t tell Sakura that he picked up on her replaying time. In this episode though, Sakura uses Record to do just that, namely to see her mum playing about in her room when she was younger. So wait when did Sakura learn that it could play back events from several years ago? Offscreen? Boy if that’s not fucking lame as hell. So basically this episode didn’t commit to things established in the 90s anime nearly 20 years ago nor does it commit to things it established itself like, the episode before. So that was really disappointing.
It’s not all doom and gloom though, cause a lot of the exposition in this episode was fun. We learn that the reason Touya’s always working is because he wants to be able to fully pay for his own tuition, but moreover, he wants to help Sakura if she wants to go to college or something else, so hey, that’s really sick, this is one of the things the 90s anime didn’t actually ever explain so I’m glad Clear Card stepped up to the plate. We also learn that the reason Touya’s powers are returning is almost definitely tied to Sakura becoming significantly stronger across Clear Card, which like, eh I’ll take it. He gave his powers over to Yue when Sakura was nearly done with the Sakura Cards so she didn’t have much more power to be gained back then, but here though it makes enough sense.
And then there’s also a certain very important plot-heavy matter at hand – so Sakura and Akiho both end up in their dream state at the same time, but we learn that in the dream, Akiho’s not actually the robed figure, because she says something about how she saw a robed figure wearing the Shinomoto family formal attire. So basically, those robes are Akiho’s robes, but she’s not actually in them, or, she might be, but she’s also not. Weird. So is there a third figure in the dream? Well, Kaito and Momo seem to note that Akiho is synchronising with the creator of the Clear Cards. So like, is Akiho literally Sakura? It’s far fetched but like if the Clear Cards’ creator isn’t Akiho, which Kaito and Momo’s dialogue suggests, it’s probably Sakura, but they’re all based on events Akiho reads in a book, so maybe when Akiho consciously learns those stories, Sakura subconsciously creates them, and the two are some sort of shared conscious of magic energy? Or Sakura subconsciously created Akiho – an entire human being? I might be going a bit far but hey who even knows, it’d justify how often everyone comments on Sakura and Akiho being similar – they could literally be the same person. Somehow. Plus if that is the case then my dream of Akiho becoming a Cardcaptor and working together with Sakura might be fully possible. Or it could work with my other theory that Akiho’s on a timer, and whenever Sakura realises Akiho isn’t technically her own real individual, we’ll have to deal with a tragic goodbye scene. Fucking hell I’ve gone way off the deep end now. Guarantee this is all wrong, but hey it’s fun to speculate. I’m sure the actual answer’ll be something I like more anyway.
Anyway, episode 21 next. And it was pretty good! A bit heavy-handed with the exposition, almost all of it relating to Sakura being powerful but Kaito also being powerful, though it was still a fun enough and interesting episode. It actually opens up on a scene of Touya and Fujitaka talking about Sakura for a bit, where we learn that Fujitaka has the vaguest idea that Sakura’s been up to some sort of crazy shenanigans since she was 10, and it’s cool that he knows that, even if it’s not quite as well as Touya knows it, because it makes him look like he pays attention to his daughter and her life, rather than just I guess, not that. Plus he also says that he’s not really worried about her because aside from the fact that he has faith in her, he has faith in Touya, and god damn is it nice to see that man love his kids. This show’s just, nice.
One rather interesting piece of exposition we get is that Akiho’s house, formerly Eriol’s, was once torn down and replaced with an amusement park – just nobody remembers it. So yeah movie 2 is canon to Clear Card and now the justification for all this ridiculous fuckery is just time travel is bullshit. I can’t help but wonder if this is a plot point that flows a lot better in the manga – since Clear Card manga is a sequel to the 90s manga it doesn’t have anime canon to worry about, but Clear Card anime wants to have its cake and eat it too so we just get stuff like this. Maybe I’m wrong though I mean I’ve not read the manga. I’ll find out. I’ve basically just come to accept that somehow, literally everything is canon, and that’s, that’s just fine.
Meanwhile the deal with Kaito is mostly revealed, he was a D rank magician at that place, but he got excommunicated for losing a very important artefact that was never supposed to leave the organisation. But it seems he didn’t lose it, he just stole it, and the artefact in question appears to be Alice in Clockland. And he wants Sakura to collect all the Clear Cards – this episode confirms that she did subconsciously make them by the way – so he can activate a very vague “that spell”. I’m gonna assume he’s setting his eyes on some time fuckery, maybe it relates to that massive black dragon I always forget to talk about, who knows. Momo notes that it’s fine for Kaito to use any means necessary but that he shouldn’t lose track of what’s important, which is obviously Akiho, so maybe Kaito’ll go off the shit but then Akiho’ll be there and he’ll be like “oh yeah” and be nice. Hey next episode’s the last so we’re about to find out.
But we do collect one more Clear Card first – and since it’s the 20th exactly and the Kero-chan ni Omakase section at the end namedrops all 20 so far I think it’s probably the last one. It’s Mirror, which seems similar to the Mirror of old, though this time the first thing she does with it is actually, and this about made me cry, she duplicates Flight and gives that to Syaoran, and the two soar the skies together. Fucking, my god that’s really sweet and beautiful and she’s so nice and she’s so used to flying and has so much fun with it and loves Flight the Card and now she gets to share it with her ichiban suki and that’s just, I loved it so much, beautiful way to end the episode, Syaoran’s hug and the “I swear I won’t let you be unhappy” is so heartfelt. Love this show.
And so, last of all, episode 22. We finally did it – we finished the Clear Card anime. I finished every single piece of Cardcaptor Sakura anime. But we’ll talk about that more in the post where I bother talking about the score, for now let’s talk this episode. It was a weird one in that, this story obviously has a lot of loose ends that need tying up, way too many to reasonably fit in one single final episode and have it feel conclusive. So the episode doesn’t even really try. The first like more than half of the episode is just sort of nice fun cute slice of life stuff, with some dialogue being a bit more sentimental as you’d expect from the ending. As for the action, well, it is Akiho in the robes, but she doesn’t know it and whenever she’s in the robes, she’s obviously dreaming, but that extends to this specific instance in which she shows up outside Sakura’s window for real and fights her for the Clear Card Key. It’s a fairly intense fight, they both give it a fair amount, Sakura’s in her pyjamas by the way which was cute, and when it looks like Sakura’s about to lose the fight, she actually catches a glimpse of Akiho’s face in the robes, at which point, Kaito chooses to reverse time since this outcome seems to be the one he wants least, and also apparently Sakura doesn’t have enough Clear Cards to activate his spell anyway. And then after the reset, we get some nice positive affirmation of the show’s usual stuff, zettai daijoubu dayo, Sakura seeing Syaoran on the way to school, etc, and then the episode sort of just, ends. It’s a good enough episode but it’s so weird to think of it as a stopping point for this anime, especially since we’re like 2 years on now and no season 2 or anything’s been announced. It doesn’t really feel like a final episode much at all, and even though the end stuff’s sweet it doesn’t feel like it came after anything that was so super duper major as to even feel climactic. But then I also think I’m okay with it since like, if Clear Card had to be this short anyway, it’s better they just cut it off than try to make up some sort of original ending. And even if it didn’t feel like much of a finale, the episode sort of “ending” on Sakura learning of Akiho’s maybe-apparent magic, and then doing a slight reset so we can get one of those “new beginning” type ends. I guess it’s appropriate enough.
And that really is about everything I have to say about the last episode so, see you in five when I talk about my final thoughts and score on Clear Card.

Finally finished watching clear card with Rocky!
Some random notes:
I love it!
Sakura really is growing up, you can see it in how she doesn't keep plushies out, doesn't roller skate (although I'd argue it's because those died shortly after the 90's), she doesn't try to go to school with Touya and Yukito anymore (probably also because Syaoran and the fact they're in University now), etc. She even sometimes makes comment about how she's in middle school now and "when I was in elementary school..." (which is sooo cute and such a middle schooler thing to say. :'3). Voice is a bit deeper and calmer.
Meilin in the anime was one of my least favorite in the old show, even if she was a lot better by the end, but I'm so glad they brought her back and really developed her character for the anime, she's only so much more amazing now! I'm also happy to see Wei and etc. I like Meilin because out of all the characters in the show, she's easily the most likely to show selfishness, which is nice because I'm sure we can all relate to that sometimes. She seemed more human in that way sometimes.
I'm so frustrated by the inconsistencies in both the anime and manga! Especially the anime! Why does Sakura suddenly know who her great grandpa is now? I was looking forward to a shock moment where Sakura's all like "Holy cow, you're that guy I met at the summer house!" MOST OF ALL, WHICH I CANNOT GET OVER!: So now the movies are truly anime canon, ok cool soo... Akiho moved to Eriol's old house, y'know.. the one that burned down. Y'know that place where you specifically saw Sakura do that play at the amusement park that was built right on top of where your house that was supposed to have been destroyed is...!? How can you possibly be this bold!? What, did Kaito somehow duplicate Eriol's house and replace that theme park with it? How did they build a whole amusement park off of one mansion!? How is no one confused that Eriol's house is up again, in the anime where the movies are now canon!? Also the prologue doesn't fit the anime universe because the original ending of the anime became the canon, but they both still trade bears?? I guess it doesn't matter that much, but wow that's bold.
Random in note note: Yamazaki is my birthday buddy! He's awesome!
Tomoyo seems to have grown in some ways too. At first, she actually seems really out of character. She seems to have become somewhat yandere about filming, which is a bit weird. She was always really calm and pretty mature, now she seems a lot more playful. I have a theory though, her mom seems to be around more now even since the end of the last series. I suspect that before she had a bit more of a lady/princess like way about her because she grew up in a rich home, but was usually alone because her mom was always busy, so she was also not as social due to that. Now not only does she have Sakura, which reminder they'd only been friends for a somewhat short time before the start of the first series, she's now friends with more of her classmates and her mom seems to spend a lot more time with her now. (I think there was a scene like this in the manga, but it's probably been 10+ years ago that I read them. Oh no, now I remember, it seemed like this realization hit at the time where Tomoyo lost her voice). So because Tomoyo has more support and a way to be more like a child, I feels like a new side of Tomoyo has come out that was suppressed before.
There was also funny moments with Rocky where, at first I saw Syaoran was dressing up pretty nice and I know, as usual, that in Rocky's mind, if a guy dresses well or likes purple, it's gay. So, first time I was like, "ooh what a nice outfit! So -Rocky-, is it gay then?" She was like "Yep, pretty gay." It became kind of like a game after that. Everytime Syaroan dresses up dapper I'd be like "So Rocky? Is it gay?" And she'd be like "Mmm. Yep." Only in the second to last episode with the grandpa, he was wearing a cute suit and she was all like "Aww, look at how cute, he's all dressed up for his date." And I was like "so... is it gay?" And she was like "No, this is a suit, it's different."
As another note, Rocky's only experience with CCS anime before we watched it all together before was Cardcaptors. She really disliked Li, but now she says he's probably one of her favorite characters, and vice versa, she liked Kero a lot as a kid but gets easily really annoyed with him now (we watched the Japanese dub just before watching clear card). One notable moment is during the latest ending theme where Kero steals all of the takoyaki from Suppi. She's gets all frustrated and is like "ugh he didn't even enjoy/appreciate them. He just inhaled them and stole them from Suppi! It's just like my sister when we were kids!" She even compared it to her late cat, who'd eat everything so fast, trying to eat before any other cat could get to it, she'd throw it up after. It's funny what we tolerate from others when we're kids. X"3 Also cat influences.
If I think of anything else I'll add it, but I just felt like sharing!
Edit: oh yeah! I'm pretty sure the people in the end card/or well the corresponding part of that episode with the Piffle Princess mascot must be the same people who were employed at Piffle Princess in Angelic Layer.
Edit 2: We had one last episode. I guess they're going to try and retcon the amusement park thing. Let's see if they can explain it somehow. :9
