forgotten playthings, forgotten child 🧸
Jack from my series Lost & Found Children 🤍🖤
i hope to showcase more of my ocs in 2024 hehe! im FINALLY getting around to finishing art i left to rot in my folders (the pandora hearts drawing last month being one of em). if you saw the WIP of THIS particular drawing 2 yrs ago... no you didn’t 💔
my charas are very personal to me, but tbh ive always been a bit hesitant to share their stories. over time i realized ... it’s kind of a shame to not make art from one’s heart. which is something i regret a lot year after year whenever i make my yearly art summary reflection. i'm like damn i need to make more emotionally evoking pieces!!! so i'm gonna keep going in 2024 with that in mind ❤ i have to admit, although this drawing started 2 years ago, and there's a lot i would do differently if i were to supposedly draw it now - this concept goes pretty hard.
the final drawing stayed pretty close to the original concept which im so relieved for! i think part of the reason why i left it on the backburner for so long, was the fact that i included so many details, and i was unsure of how to colour the "background". (not to mention stuff like cons & real life getting in the way).
i'm glad for discovering a really handy watercolour brush, it's helped me a lot in my last few drawings, bc i dont have to colour in each detail. especially since the witch hat atelier: eternal ephemera zine piece i did. otherwise if i coloured this back in 2022 with my usual method, i'm pretty sure i really would have included a shading and highlight layer for each individual toy... HAHAHA. much to think about
oh yeah and in the last few days of drawing this i was listening to some visual kei bands. i love how some of the band members literally have been performing since like the 90s or something and DO NOT AGE and are literal vampires. every so often i fall back into visual kei (you can tangentially thank aggretsuko although yes i know it's not the same). and i kind of realized. i like Jack's edgy design so much because he looks like. a visual kei esque vampire.

So, while I'm working on the Majesty illustration this time, I finally put together another video with a timelapse on the lineart and a voiceover from yours truly (a still blabbering mess yours truly, but here nonetheless).
I'm talking a little bit about lineart, coming up with the idea, what software I use, some studies you can do to improve your lineart (that I also did and helped me a LOT, so passing on the knowledge!) and a couple of other things along these lines.
This one though is 30 min long, 'cause the lineart took me a while :') (it's Terzo sitting on a throne, I went overboard with the details and it cost me TIME no regrets though)
Oh, I talk through 20 min, I think I should note that. And the intro is the most HORRIBLE intro you'll hear in your lifetime, I was nervous, apologies
Hope the tips actually help someone and I hope to see you guys soon with the whole illustration done, 'cause I'm actually pretty happy with this one!!
I'm a sucker for details, it's been a while I don't do something like this :')

SO I've been sick all August but today my brain was like "You know what? It's time to learn how to make a drawing timelapse!"
This was way harder that it would probably be with more brain capacity, but I wanted to share my accomplishment :') Baby's very first timelapse and very first time doing video editing!!
Please admire my newfound power with me
Finished drawing:

Im curious as to what yr color picking process is like.. I rlly like the colors u use in a lot of pieces
thank you!! and it really depends but usually it's one of two things - i'll either start in greyscale/monotone and color balance/add colors from there or use pretty much the same base colors n do the same process to match the atmosphere i want... i try to stick to triadic or complementary color combos either way if i can help it bc i just like how they look best - esp in shadong picking so there's fun contrast :3

Get to know you meme
Thanks for the tag @sergeantnarwhalwrites!
Tagging: Anyone that wants to do this!
Relationship status: *finger guns* complicated. Long-term domestic thing but like, open and such. Not actually looking though.
Favorite Color(s): I like them all a ton. But peachy-orange is lovely. There are butterflies from my hometown that were the colour of orange marshmallows and they always made me happy when I spotted them.
Favorite Food: Cheesecake. Or fried chicken. I also like a mountain of salad.
Song stuck in my head: My brain is blending a few songs by Bug Hunter. He has a very TZ feel:
Last Thing You Googled: a bed a bath and a ghost to get the link for the previous answer. The others are:
Time: 6:37pm
Dream Trip: I wanna tour a few different countries to taste the regional food. I don't really wanna do the "tourist friendly" side of things, I like legit want to try the local cuisines of a bunch of places. But like, ethically/respectfully.
Last Thing You Read: Battleborn fanfic that a buddy of mine wrote.
Last Book You Enjoyed Reading: I don't remember.
Favorite thing to cook/bake: Anything I can shove in the oven and get good food out of really.
Favorite Craft to do in your free time: Writing, art, etc. I used to sew too but I don't have the space for it anymore.
Most Niche Dislike: Christmas music. It's a legitimate trigger of mine due to auditory hallucinations. It doesn't get stuck in my head per se (the sensation is different), but it becomes intrusive thought at full volume for weeks afterwards. So yes, I'm kind of a grinch but suck it up every year.
Opinion on Circuses: Conflicted. Animals don't deserve to be mistreated and the concept of "circus freaks" treads the light of "giving opportunity and community to those who otherwise may not have it" and "abject exploitation and objectification of human people." However, I like clowns, trapeze, and other "stunt" style performances and I also like the general sense of wonder that particular form of entertainment brings. I think it could be done ethically with minimal loss of spectacle tbh.
Do You Have Any Sense of Direction: Kind of? Like, I can get completely side-tracked and lost on the way back from anyplace in town, but I eventually find my way home.
