@questioningdragons : yours insist that they haven't been fed yet too? Even when you were the one to feed them?
Worse: Tribble is infamously the sort of dog who believes there are two kinds of people: me, and literally everyone else in the entire universe. She apparently has an entirely different, much worse persona that emerges when I'm not there, which Tay calls her "you're not my real mom!" attitude. She assigns me a strict curfew and mopes dramatically if I don't meet it. She also has some separation anxiety that she has historically dealt with by clinging to her beloved crate.
I had been enjoying the thought that I might get to have a situation where my dog wasn't insultingly devoted to me and didn't threaten to die of heartbreak when I took a week off for a conference, so when Kawuli and Coffee told me Matilda is fairly chill if I'm not there, I was thrilled. I assumed that I'd headed that one off at the pass. I would not be the emotional center of my dog's universe.
It turns out that while Matilda is not heartbroken if I'm not there in the moment, she will pick me over anyone else for frisbee duty to an insulting degree. Like "watches Coffee calling with interest as she passes on by, returning with the Frisbee to drop it pointedly at my feet" insulting.
I have not noticed this because I am not the person being snubbed so pointedly, is the thing. And I was also kind of enjoying the idea that I could work on, like, the same dog that other people interact with...
it is my eternal curse to be gaslit by my own dogs :(
#awful#wicked baby#the only dog I've ever had who cusses me out on the regular#things matilda is throwing a fit over also include the new hyperflites#she objects to change#so I do see her blowing me off /snubbing me like that--she pointedly is picking old frisbee#matilda#10 months#australian cattle dog

We just got our first legit canine discs (hyperflite & hero disc). She’s only had a heavy West Paw frisbee until now.
Is she...a disc dog?!
Looks like we’re going to have to get some of the tougher versions though. This was after 1 session 🥲

We got our Hyperflite Jawz discs!
Thank you @elvenferretots for the suggestion. I ordered one and got a bonus "ugly disc" which I super appreciate because now I can do the two disc game/two ball game! Immediately Sam wanted to play fetch with them. They also stay aloft significantly better than any other disc I've had!

4 - Proper size if doing freestyle - This one isn't applicable for toss and catch or strategy games (unless you are using fancy tricks in them). You want the disc to be small enough that there is space between the disc and the ground when doing a handstand so the first point of impact is the legs and not the disc/head/neck.
Common pup sized discs
Toy grade: paraflight chuckit small, soft bit puppy disc small, westpaw zogoflex zisc small, king flyer small
Light plastic: hero pup 120, hyperflite CS pup disc. mamadisc mini
Bite resistant: Hero atom 185s, hyperflite jawz pups, latitude 60 opto bite puppy
What makes a disc dog safe?
Right, So I’ve often mentioned dog-safe discs, but I don’t think I’ve ever really gone over what makes a disc dog-safe. Oops. 1 - Flexible Plastic - you want something that won’t shatter or break into shards if a dog’s tooth goes through it. The cheap discs you get at the dollar store or super market are really brittle and should be avoided. Sadly enough most dog stores also have these cheap brittle discs for sale, usually in bins right next to the checkout. 2 - Solid Construction - While many dogs like the O-Rings, they are really easy to get limbs caught in while running, so aren’t safe. When selecting discs, pick ones without any holes in them. 3 - Thicker rim - There is only really one disc that fails this, though it is sold by a major dog retailer so it is worth mentioning. Generally you want a rim that is no narrower than a cm. Smaller rims can act like blades and easily bruise & bloody the back of the mouth of dogs with enthusiastic bites. Examples of dog safe discs: Toy grade - not the best flyers, but can be easily found in most dog stores Kong safe flyer, chuckit paraflight, starmark easy glider, hyperpet flippy flopper, soft bit floppy disc, petmate sonic flyer Light plastic dog discs - light plastic and often cheaper, but not overly durable Hero (Air, Xtra, sonic 215, pup 120), Hyperflite (sofflite, competition standard, frostbite, midnight sun, z-disc), wham-o (fastback), aerobie (squidgie, aerobie, dogobie) Bite-resistant dog discs - resists dog chomping, though not dog proof Hero (superaero, super star, super sonic, super hero), hyperflite (jawz, jawz xcomp, jawx hyperflex, jawz lite, z fang, z fang-x), whamo (eurablend fastback), latitude 64 (opto bite)

Barnett HyperGhost 425 Crossbow Review
If you're a beginner shooter, then you may want to check out the Barnett HyperGhost 425 crossbow. This crossbow is a versatile, mid-size model that can deliver arrows with a lot of speed, accuracy, and reliability.
The hyper-ghost comes mostly assembled, though it is still a bit heavy for some shooters. If you're serious about hunting whitetail, then you'll love the high-end performance and safety features that it has to offer
The HyperGhost 425's Trigger Tech system helps you hit your target with a consistent, smooth shot. The trigger is adjustable and features a zero creep feature. It also has a nock sensor and anti-dry fire technology to prevent dry firing. For a long-range experience, the Barnett HyperGhost 425 is perfect for long-range shooting. The crossbow is fast and easy to assemble, and it takes about five minutes to assemble.
The Barnett HyperGhost 425 features a high-density foam frame and composite step-through riser. The bow also includes a nock sensor and an anti-dry fire trigger. Aside from this, the HyperGhost 425 has a lightweight draw weight of 3.2 pounds, and it has a single bolt assembly. It's a perfect crossbow for long-range shooting and is made with durability and reliability in mind.
The HyperGhost 425 features a Trigger Tech system for an accurate three-pound trigger. It also has a nock sensor and an anti-dry-fire system to keep your arrows from drifting. It uses HyperFlite arrows that hit the target at 50 yards dead center. The hyper-ghost has a great aiming accuracy. It's an excellent choice for long-range hunting.
The Barnett HyperGhost 425 is a high-density foam frame with composite step-through riser. The bow is lightweight and easy to assemble. It weighs 3.2 pounds with accessories and requires only a few minutes of disassembly. When disassembling the hyper-ghost, the quiver must be installed. After the quiver has been installed, you can shoot.
The HyperGhost 425 is the most advanced crossbow in the Barnett HyperGhost series. It has loads of speed and tough construction, and it is the best model on the market today. With a 425 FPS draw weight, the bolts can penetrate deep into a bear's skin. The barnett Predator is faster and has more power than the HyperGhost, but it is not as reliable.
A common problem with crossbows is the weight. The Barnett HyperGhost 425 is a light, yet powerful crossbow. The frame is 36.5" long and 20 inches wide, and the crossbow weighs 7.7 pounds without accessories. Despite being lightweight, the Barnett HyperGhost 425 is also very sturdy. The weight, which is only 3.2 pounds, makes it very easy to maneuver in windy conditions.
The Barnett HyperGhost 425 is a lightweight, single bolt assembly. The rail connection holds the quiver and supports it. You can use the included stabilizer to make sure it's level. After you've assembled the crossbow, it's time to install the quiver. You can also add a step-through riser stock to the crossbow, but this isn't as easy as it is to assemble.
The Barnett HyperGhost 425 is an excellent crossbow for game hunting. It features a high-density foam frame, composite step-through riser, and is extremely lightweight. Assembling the Barnett HyperGhost 425 is easy, and the instructions are clear. The only thing you need to remember is to read the manual carefully. You should also install the quiver mount before putting the crossbow together.
The Barnett HyperGhost 425 is a high-performance crossbow. Its speed is incredible. It shoots arrows at speeds of up to 425 fps. Unlike other crossbows, it's capable of shooting up to four arrows per second. The draw distance is just under eight inches, which is a good choice for most hunters. It also has a mount for a quiver, and a step-through riser stock for your limbs.
The HyperGhost 425 is an ultra-high-speed crossbow with a 206-pound draw weight. Its patented step-through riser reduces the weight of the crossbow. It is also compatible with the Barnett crank cocking device. It is a fast and easy to set up bow, with a foot stirrup to allow you to balance it properly.

Do you have any disc recommendations for dogs that strongly prefer the foam Chuckit discs? I've been trying to get him switched to the plastic ones so we can join our local disc league
I have no idea, I'm afraid; I'm very new to this myself. I'm going to punt the question over to @groenendaze, who is a much more experienced disc person and was kind enough to give me a really nice introduction to disc options last fall.
Think about what your dog likes about the foam disc, too: I found that the full size Hyperflite Jawz for example is too heavy: I can't throw it and get it to float well enough for Matilda to routinely catch, and she does not appreciate that. The Pup discs work much better for her that way, but I think the size is less important than weight; on the other hand, she's maybe 20" tops at the shoulder, it's not like she needs a huge disc. The K10s in competition weight worked better yet, although the wind made it harder to gauge. She has a strong preference for Not Fullsize Jawz, I think because she seems to find catching discs rewarding but she is not the fastest dog in the world, so she just can't get out fast enough to nab those out of the air.
On the other hand, if the preference is about the texture of the chomp, picking a disc is going to depend on different factors.

Help me disc dog people, you’re my only hope.
Look at me thinking I’m funny.
I feel like I ask a lot of questions. But personal experience is better than reading some guide, right? Maybe.
Anyways, I somehow got my dog to like playing frisbee. She used to be hopeless, but now she’s starting to be a good catch. I’m thinking about going to some of the “play days” a local disc dog team holds.
I was just wondering, what type of disc should I buy for a beginner dog? Especially one whose used to playing with a rubber one? I’ve looked through the Jawz and Hyperflite and . . . they’re all confusing and I don’t know where to start. Also, what are some good online suppliers for the discs? Especially Canadian suppliers? Cheap discs would be neat-o. Also, yes, possibly suggestions on what type of disc to get for us small beginners. We only have one of those rubber West Paw Design toy discs, but that won’t do if we pursue the sport.
