the issue with writing for yourself is that you will get sucked into rereading your own fic over and over and pretend it’s “editing,” but really you’re just reading because it’s exactly what you want to read. because you wrote it. for you.

"mmh did you know that creator you like also posts 🔞 content? did you know that? don't you think that's weird? don't you think we should keep this space-"

i booked a front row seat to the devil's sacrament and you're blocking the view
just go back to the 1660 new england hole you just crawled out of and eat barley for a week to atone for your sins or whatever

being so staunchly anti generative ai while everyone around you is "i used chatgpt" and "i asked grok" and google search is useless and every company is implementing ai and every single celeb is taking ai money and partnering with ai is like... it's so jarring. why can't you see the harm like i can? why are you so lazy? why are we making society this stupid? can we please stop? it's killing people does that not matter to you?
#this ⬆️#as an artist#this thing can literally take away my job#especially because let's be honest the way my works look they are practically undistinguishable from the style ai does#i recognise the harm for the environment and everything#but fucking be for real and stop acting like literally everyone who's using it is a vilain and is personally killing people#the idea of collective guilt is one that doesn't work and shouldn't be working and it leads you nowhere#but for some people imagine that using ai is part of their job day to day#and it they won't use it they'll lose their job#and they won't be able to work in the field for which they've studied for ten fucking years because they're either using ai as a tool like#all their colleagues or they're working too slow and they lose the job#and not everyone can find a job that'll give them enough money to live or survive if they lose literally ALL the opportunities in the field#they are currently working#and for which they've studied#so like... go touch some grass#go underground that some people can literally do nothing about it

i think people should be required to read up on fandom history of censorship and why ao3 was founded in order to use ao3. too many people going "ao3 shouldn't allow certain things!" nowadays.

i keep seeing well-meaning posts about tagging on ao3 claiming that 'no archive warnings apply' means a fic is fluffy and wholesome and maybe smutty but can be trusted contain nothing upsetting. and from the bottom of my heart, please, this is so wrong. like, even aside from the fact that 'upsetting' is a very personal definition, it literally just means that none of the big four archive warnings apply, and i promise you it's very possible to write a DEEPLY upsetting fic that contains none of those things.

Y'know. There are a lot of people who say "problematic" when they actually mean "sinful". And I kind of wish they would just say "sinful".
It'd be more honest about their perspective, and it'd save me time trying to determine whether they're critiquing something in good faith or just being reactionary conservatives.
