Art Styles I Personally Think the Hetalia Characters Looked Their Best In (and Why) Part 3

Please note that I am referring to the show and not the webcomic. This is primarily because I didn't always have access to the webcomic and thus the show is what I've always been most familiar with. I will also refrain from talking about characters that have only appeared in one season.

Also, please keep in mind that these are just my opinions. And if you have any different ideas of what designs looked better, that's totally okay. At the end of the day, I'm just here to have fun.

Also, we are talking about the Nordics today. And since these guys are some of my favorite characters, prepare for me to be very opinionated. You have been warned.

Denmark: Season 4

I don't know if this is a hot take or not, especially since we've only seen him in this art style a few times, but dangit, Denmark looked his absolute best in season 4. And you want to know why? Because the other seasons make him look like a literal child. And I'm not saying "child" as in, "Oh he just has a childish personality." No, I'm talking "child" as in "He physically looks like a little kid." Here, Denmark looks like an actual adult like the rest of the nations. Not to mention that I like the duller blond color of his hair here. It helps a little to set him apart from the other blonde characters whose hair is typically colored bright yellow. Also, I prefer his eyes colored a darker blue. I just think it looks nice. Also, his wardrobe is immaculate. 'Nuff said.

Sweden: Season 4

I was close to saying that I didn't have a favorite design for Sweden, because they all look so similar to me. But I ended up landing on his design for season 4 because of his outfit. It's simple, but I like the navy blue on the lighter shade, as well as the whole outfit itself being trimmed with gold. I really don't have much else to say on Sweden. Huh, I guess I'm not as opinionated on him as I thought I was.

Finland: Season 4

Ah yes, the character whose eyes keep changing colors. While I like how soft and rounded his design is in later seasons, as they help convey his softer and more demure personality, I still prefer his original design from season 4. The reason is largely his eyes. Not a lot of other Hetalia characters have brown eyes, and I liked this detail about Finland. It's a color choice that makes him surprisingly unique. I'd also like to mention that the color brown is a warmer color and has a psychological connection to feelings of warmth and comfort. Feelings that I feel are associated with aph Finland as a character, as I've always seen him as one of the more stable and grounded of the group.

Norway: Season 7

I know I've been giving season 7 of Hetalia some grief for making the characters look too childish or dorky looking, but somehow this has not affected aph Norway. If anything, I'd say he looks at his best here. In the previous seasons, his eyes always looked dull and lifeless. I understand that's supposed to be reflective of the character's deadpan and stoic personality, but it always threw me off. But here there's a glint of light inside his eyes, helping make him look alive while still maintaining his stoic appearance. Also, the hair and the cross hairclip are beautiful. His hair is so light and fluffy, and it's styled beautifully. And while it's not in this picture, we do still have his floating hair curl, which is always a nice touch. A classic staple of a design by Himaruya.

Iceland: Season 7

I prefer this design for aph Iceland because this is one where he looks the most like both an angsty teenager and a child. Which makes sense, as he's the youngest of the Nordic Five. It's simultaneously giving off "Ugh, don't talk to me!" vibes, combined with "I hope my big brother remembered to put a juice box in my lunch today," energy. I also like how similar he looks to Norway from season seven here as well. To me it's a cute nod to the fact(?) that they are biologically brothers. Also, this outfit? It's adorable, and I love it. The earmuffs are everything.

denmark/matthias køhler ♥︎

he's very touchy with his partner as he gets them to slowly relax during sex. he intertwines their hands with his own, giving them a quick little smile to get it across to them that they're doing just fine. he's usually pretty loud, so it's new to see denmark being so quiet. in reality, he just wants to enjoy the moment, only speaking to give them words of affirmation. internally, he's so excited, horny, and ready to go at it with them....'patience, matthias, patience...'

norway/lukas bondevik ♥︎

he's right next to them, breathing on their neck while giving them wet, short kisses down their throat onto their collarbones. he asks if they're ready yet, and it's all good if they are not. "take as long as you need..." he speaks into the crook of their neck. his body heat is making them feel dizzy. "just let me know when you want it." norway's a very patient man, but he would love nothing more in this moment to make his partner take all of him. it's taking every fiber of his being to not start grinding himself on his partner's body rn

sweden/björn oxenstierna ♥︎

as much as he would love to just manhandle tf out of his partner, he allows them to adjust themselves onto him as they need to. it's their first time , and he doesn't want to be overbearing in any way. the most he does is stroke their hair, caress their face and plant a few kisses on their nose, forehead, and cheeks. if they're feeling insecure about how they look or about what noises they make, if any, he'll just tell them to let it all out. "d'you want me to continue?" very polite indeed...or at least for now. enjoy it while you can! ;p

iceland/emil steilsson ♥︎

he shows them where to put their hands, softly holding them and placing them on himself, on his shoulders. "just stay there, okay? i'll do the rest..." he goes into kiss them, which soon becomes a makeout session. when you two pull away from each other, he's breathing hard and pressing himself against you. "can i?" with their consent, now it's his turn to put his hands on them. his hand slips in between their thighs, spreading them just a little bit wider. his heart is poundinggg and he can't wait to get to the part where the two of you are less anxious and significantly more desperate.

treats them so very delicately, but he looks so ready to just devour them. he's holding back a lot. he fluctuates between kissing their neck, chest and ear area and their face. and although he really does love kissing his partner's cute face, he's doing it so much now to keep himself busy, reminding himself that they might not be ready to take him just yet. when they are though, he makes sure they feel so good. "waiting for them was so worth it" <3

Hws Belgium and Vene has an uncomfortably close relationship where no one knows if they’re fucking flirting dating or just besties bc they act like every one of them. Then Emma starts dating Romano and everyone is like “wtf is wrong with this family”

If you don’t know me, “wtf is going on with Vargas brothers” is my favorite thing ever. It’s so funny. Like e.g Nordics are stable, have kids n uncle figures n stuff. Hungary n Austria still act like they’re married (it’s been five hundred years) UK brothers r chaotic but normal. Vargas bros is…. ??????

And in canon too, they r weird. Like Romano acts like he hates Vene but also they seem to be close n appear around each other a lot. Ig I can put Antonio in this too.

It’s just I love reality tv shows so I love family drama, trashy talks, complicated relationships.

Finland

Is the type to always have a cup of coffee/hot chocolate ready for you when you wake up

Definitely has knitted you scarves and blankets before

Teaches you more household tasks

But he ALSO teaches you some self defense

This man is a total badass

He’ll teach you a lot about stars and constellations

Can always tell when you are stressed and tries to do things to help you

Like do your laundry for you

Make you favorite meal

Little things like that that’ll make your life easier

Gives you advice dealing with boys (if you’re into that)

10/10 love and support

Iceland

He’s like the stereotypical older brother

He’ll tease you and can be kinda mean...but he ALWAYS has your back

Throws random things at you, like a piece of bread or a crumpled up piece of paper

But he will stay up till 2 in the morning playing video games with you

You both somehow always end up getting in a wrestling match with Mathias and you don’t know why

He’s probably the most similar to you because you are closer in age (maybe?)

Everyone else treats you like their little baby sister and he treats you like an equal

He also definitely sends you cringy TikTok s and you have a lot of inside jokes with each other
