Getting To Know Your Mysterious Stranger (Halloweek Day 3! New Hush Video)

CW: [threatening tone][brief gore sounds][character death] //// (I'm sorry this one is so long, I typically want to keep these summaries as short and sweet as possible, but there was just so much information in this and so much that I thought was important that I basically gave you the whole video...sorry lol)

Listener, "Doc" is confronted about their involvement in the "murder of a de(a)mon" by...someone. This individual is being quite threatening, and Doc does their best to comply. They are asking about Hush, about why he let Doc live and about the "connection" the two have.

We learn that Hush told the Chorus that he didn't have a name, and this stranger asks if Doc knows what Hush is. Obviously, they're pretty much as in the dark as the stranger.

The stranger keeps pressing, giving further details about what happened to Hush before Doc came across them. Doc defends Hush, but the stranger points out that Hush has and will harm or even kill others for whatever reason he seems fit.

Hush comes in! Threatening this stranger, saying "get away from them, or die."

Hush brutally kills the stranger with ease, Doc is left horrified and Hush is confused. The pair discuss further.

Hush offers to make dinner for Doc, saying "I've read that food and drink can ease the nerves" and that he as "read a lot lately." He points out that Doc is nervous often, and he struggles to understand why...and seems to want to understand why. He says that he is "trying to learn." He doesn't like it when Doc is nervous, he doesn't like when he "contributes to their nervousness" and wants Doc to feel good around him.

Doc asks if he feeds on emotions, and he does not, but he can detect emotions like de(a)mons. He'd claims that he is missing "context." He says that he is better at identifying feels he is more accustom to, saying fear, anger, nervousness...people feel those a lot around him. He's used to them, so he picks up on them easier.

Hush says that he doesn't feed on anything, I assume that Doc asked if he does. He says, "everything I need, I have." Doc asks and Hush says that he does not run out of energy, claiming, "it's not how I work."

Hush doesn't know everything about himself, he's actively learning about that too. He says that he can't explain much.

Hush offers to make food again, claiming that he learned to make some things. His reasoning being that Doc needs to eat, so it seems like a good thing for him to know.

Doc asks, and Hush says again that he has no desire to hurt anyone, but that he is willing to hurt those who "try to stop him."

Hush cleans up his mess (the articulate he killed). He knows that 'they' will send more, and claims that it isn't a smart idea. However, he says that he understand why they do send more. Doc asks why. Hush says, "because they think I'm going to free their gods from the prison they're in." Doc asks, and Hush says, "they think that, because that's exactly what I'm going to do...among other things."

Doc expresses their concern with this, and Hush assures that nothing will go wrong. Doc presses and he says that he won't let anything go wrong.

Hush says once more that he is "instrumental force," given purpose and form. Doc claims the he is being vague, and he claims that he is being blunt. Hush says that they don't have the context to understand. Doc asks if he can make them understand, he tells them to take his hand. Hush says that Doc is a Freelancer.

Freelancer asks if they are about to bridge, and Hush says that he is not capable of bridging.

Doc says that everyone's core sings different, and that if you really listen you can tell the differences between everyone's cores by their songs. He says that everyone's magic makes the 'Spellsong.' Hush says that he is the space between noise, he is the silence in the Spellsong.

Doc asks why he told them this. And he says that he doesn't know...and that he probably shouldn't have. But that he wanted to tell them, and that he's never wanted to tell anyone anything before.

Doc asks what happens 'after.' Hush says that he never thought about it, that he doesn't know. His conclusion is, "when I don't need to exist anymore, I won't."

Hush asks what Doc is feeling, as he is unfamiliar with their current emotions, and they tell him that they will tell him later.

He asks if they are hungry now. Doc offers to teach Hush something (presumably how to cook) and he agrees, saying he has a lot more to learn. That he wants to learn from them.

Streaming update!

Heads up, I'm going to be shelving Project: Eden's Garden for the time being! I'll come back to it, I promise, but since my computer hates running it for trials--and trials are kinda a key part of the game--it would be best to return when I have a better computer to run it (which is a goal of mine)!

That said, I'm thinking about doing a stream within the coming week. We have a few options for games, so tell me what y'all think!

okay, so I have a new chapter of "Sweet Home Charleston" ready to go but since I'm out of town, I'll edit it and post it when I get home. It's another short (and hopefully) sweet chapter. I've just got a lot going on - which, I suppose I should make a post about, but it involves talking about myself and I always have a hard time doing that.

Author's Update! (Finally)

Took me a bit, but I'm here now!

I was right about posting that prev chapter being a good omen. Things did get better, a little, so here's the updates, and major news at the bottom.

So, November came and went. We are now full time in our house, with internet and everything!! We also now have heat, which is good, because the pipes apparently leak into our kitchen when we don't have heat and it's too cold.

Let's see... This is not in order, nor as organized as the last update, but I'm just trying to squeeze in the time where I can.

Our boiler had been overfilled, so the boiler guys had to drain it for like a half hour. Then, when that still didn't fix our heat, they had to take off the thermostat. THAT fixed it, so they replaced the thermostat for us.

Then we... ran out of oil just before Christmas, so... they had to come fix that too, lol. It's been an expensive year.

Barely managed to scrape by to ~15k for NaNo this year, but still proud that I managed that much. Lots of visits to the library.

At some point, I managed to finish reading The Belgariad to my partner, meaning we moved into The Mallorean. That was really enjoyable. I've also been reading a lot more.

I wrote up an entirely too long post combating some of the drama going on from Problematic Callout Number Infinity, and asked people to just... not mention it, leave me alone, I'm done. And for the most part people did? Sure, Callout Asshole did not leave me alone, continued writing their... Over 800 page rant about how I'm abusive, jfc, I hope you're okay... Writing out my post about it helped a lot with the feelings, though.

My old landlords evidently were saying some... less than kind things about me to my ex-roommate, who is still staying with them. So... Being who I am, being the writer I am, I wrote up a response to them, and I sent it off. It was heartfelt, and meaningful, an really just... Was what I was feeling. They were kinda floored and did not realize just how rough things had been for me and my fiance.

Just a few days after I posted the last update, I got my pronouns back at work <3 The union really came through. My school pulled some assholery to get out of more legal trouble, but I can at least be whatever pronouns my sorta-but-not-really-it's-hard-to-explain-genderfluid self wants again.

We've recently started to understand a lot more about ourselves in our own brain. It's been really helpful. Therapy's been going more poorly lately (he switched to entirely virtual meetings, which has been a lot harder for me) but I'm also at a point where I feel a lot less distress.

I started up that Bracket Blog I mentioned for realsies, and GOD has it been funny.

I MANAGED TO MEET MY WRITING GOAL FOR 2024 I AM SO HAPPY. New goal is 1mil words for 2025. I think I can do it. It shouldn't be too difficult if I keep pacing myself. According to the tracker I have, it's about 3k words a day. Seeing as I count ALL words (emails, blog posts like this one, even discord messages sometimes) I should have that down pat.

My partner and I are changing our names, officially, and we finally figured out last names too. I'm so happy to be leaving behind the last name of the people who hurt me the most. I'm so happy to be coming into my own.

I got married.

The night I posted the chapter -- New Years Eve -- I got married at 11:59pm.

It's just the legal stuff -- paperwork and all that -- but I'm officially married to my partner. My spouse. EEE!!!

We'll have a ceremony another time. For now, we wanted to get married while we could, to really solidify our lives. With the election and everything, we wanted to be sure the world recognized me and them as Together, Forever, What I Own Is Theirs kinda stuff.

So... Yeah!!!
