Very self indulgent art of my human Val and Vox to cheer myself up. Velvette did his hair in the second pic (still need to draw her in a human version)

i like to think about a situation in which the hazbin cast mysteriously transform into their human bodies again, because for some of them it would be really benign and incredibly dramatic for others

like alastor's would be just "more colour :)" and angel's would be "fewer arms :("

meanwhile the vees are doing horribly. velvette has FLESH again and just realized how uncomfortable her clothes are, valentino is half his usual height and CANNOT cope, and vox fell on his ass INSTANTLY because he hasn't had a skull that weighs more than 2 pounds in over 20 years

Valentino

Valentino makes me uncomfortable. He's like........Andrew Tate.....Ick. I'm too ace for this, y'all. Help.

I think the sheer amount of hearts on Val's canon design is too much. So I got rid of most of them, which I think streamlines his design a lot. The glasses in particular, the way the corners of his eyes poked out just slightly, made them look like weird nostrils. I'm not totally sure what shape to do instead, but I've been leaning toward square cuz it's easy. The stupidly large belt buckle can help tie that in, I think. But I also like the idea that he has various different glasses that he'll use, like Elton John(who was popular in the 70s). Square will be my default though.

I wanted to lean into the 70s style. Which means bellbottoms are a must. The shirt had to be not-red, and I immediately drifted towards teal.

For some reason, I could not justify his wings turning into a robe that had two sets of sleeves. I can give Vaggie hair that turns into wings, but I can't handle sleeves for some reason. Instead, I opted for an Elvis inspired cape(who was wearing jumpsuits and capes in the 70s). I don't mind if the wings magically grow larger when he uses them, it's magic logic.

I wanted to give the wings a design that was easy to draw consistently and fit his vibe. I looked at so many pictures of moths, y'all. But they were either too similar to Vaggie, didn't have the right aesthetic, or too complicated. So I ended up taking inspiration from a mix of various moths. Namely the Rosy Ermine and a couple types of Tiger moths. Then a few others I don't remember the names of, and some that I just found pictures of and got tired of keeping track of species.

Valentino was a hard one to design, to be honest. I had to get something that looked similar to his round moth head while acknowledging that he probably wasn't bald in life. Had to figure out what to do instead. Others give him dreadlocks, but I wasn't feeling that for him.

I made him Puerto Rican because his voice actor is.

He seems the type to have lots of gold jewelry to show off wealth. Latino cultures tend to be very influenced by Catholicism. I've met many who told me they were Catholic, but never go to church. Catholic is not really a religious identity for them, but a cultural heritage thing. Sooo, I had him wear a cross occasionally. I also don't like drawing props. In this case the props are guns.

His human name could just be Valentino, but it feels too much like a stage name or nickname to me. But I don't have anything I'm particularly committed to.

Anon asked: Val would absolutely lost his mind seeing AU Vox. Would he be sweet with him too? He'd probably hurt AU Alastor though...

The short version? It would not go well XD

AU Vox isn't sweet to AU Val, and vice versa, and Canon Val isn't too far off from the Val he already barely tolerates. Yeah, flirting ain't gonna work on this one. Annnnd Alastor said he'd pin Val up the next time he sees him, and I don't think he'd care very much that he's technically never met this Val before, except for the fact that his wings might make for pretty decor XD. Drift is straight up going to think he's a cryptid. And what do you do with cryptids? Profit off them XDD.

Val talking with Val though, oof. They're going to be horrible scheming people together....and AU Val is 100% going to ask Canon Val what Vox is into. He'd take any advice to get Vox attracted to him like a flame and a, huh, moth X).
