Happy Human Rights Day, 10 December, 2024. 2024 Theme: "Our Rights, Our Future, Right Now." This theme has a message that the fulfillment of human rights is an urgent matter because it is the basis of an peaceful, just and inclusive society.

By defending human rights, we can prevent harm before it happens. By protecting human rights, we protect our future. By advancing human rights, we create a fairer world. We can do all this together for our common good. I personally also do all this as best I can.

Dear Friends,

I write to you with tears in my eyes and a heavy heart. After 188 days of displacement, constant fear, and struggling to survive, we managed to escape with our lives and reach Egypt. But the pain didn’t stop there. Just yesterday, we lost my children's grandfather 💔, not due to direct war, but because of malnutrition and the lack of basic life necessities. We couldn’t save him, just as we couldn’t save our home or our dreams.

The rest of my family is still trapped in the war, suffering the same harsh conditions that led to the passing of my children's grandfather. We are here trying to build a new life, but we have lost everything. We lost our home, and my children were deprived of their schools and universities. Even my eldest son, who worked so hard to build his future, lost his job and saw his dreams shattered.😔

We are now in desperate need of your help. We seek to secure a safe home that will provide us and our children with basic needs. Life in Egypt is extremely difficult, and prices are soaring beyond our reach. All we ask for is a chance to rebuild our lives and secure a better future for our children.🙏🏼

In 2016, Franco was elected as the only Black woman in Rio de Janeiro's city council. She consistently advocated for racial equality and an end to police corruption. She was killed in a drive-by shooting in 2018 while leaving a Black women's empowerment event.

EGOT winning iconic actor, singer, progressive human rights activist Harry Belafonte B. March 1, 1927 D. April 25, 2023. Rest in Power. Sit In is a great documentary about Harry Belafonte who hosted The Tonight Show for one week, stepping in for Johnny Carson. At a time when the country was scorched in protests against the Vietnam War, and race riots, Belafonte created a politically progressive, open minded, conscious, and captivating platform.

There is currently a lot going on in the world right now, I know it can be very overwhelming.

But please, let's not forget about Ukraine. Let's not forget about the war taking place and innocents dying over in Ukraine by Putin.

The call to action is to raise and lift voices. There's many countries such as Ukraine, Palestine, Congo etc. That truly need their voices heard right now. That truly need the world to make some noise for them.

I know it can be a lot when there's so much going on. But lives are being lost, families are being displaced, war crimes are being committed and we must not remain silent.

Please use your platforms to be an activist to all voices that need to be heard.

Not gonna lie, my morale is at the lowest point it's been since the beginning of the invasion. Russians are successfully occupying more and more territories and shell frontline regions every day. People are dying, our culture and herritage is destroyed. International aid dwindled significantly because of american bullshit. Mobilization law has been signed and there is a chance that my family members get conscripted soon. Don't even get me started on internal political problems. A bunch of articles in foreign media talking about our defeat and "peace talks" (what a joke).

It feels like there were no at least moderately good news in a while. On top of that, the feeling that we are screaming into the void is stronger than ever. I'm happy when I see a foreigner online supporting us and spreading the word, because it gets rarer. Ukrainians feel like none of what's happening gets outside our info bubble. Most likely no one but Ukrainians will see this post either. Honestly don't know what to make of all of this.
