Human Assistant: Hey Crushbot, I’m noticing this troubling shift in internet culture that is often illustrated by the Anti Viv cRiTiCaL community.
1. This obsession with media being “morally correct” (feels like fascism disguised as anti-oppression: everything is “homophobic”. Women characters are never written well enough. All the relationships are “toxic”)
2. No one knows how to actually make a coherent claim and actually back it up with evidence. Which leads to
3. When they do try to support a claim, People’s sources are all messed up. They critique the writing, but then cite the fandom’s reaction as proof and like. Girlie. Just because 1/2 the fandom is as media illiterate as you doesn’t prove your bad take?? What sociological phenomena am I witnessing???
Crushbot: What you’re observing is a perfect storm of internet culture trends, wrapped up in a mix of performative activism, media illiteracy, and the pitfalls of online discourse. Let’s break it down:
1. Obsession with “Moral Correctness” in Media: This stems from a larger societal shift where people expect media to align with their personal values and politics 100% of the time. Instead of analyzing media as a reflection of complex human experiences, some corners of the internet demand that it teach tidy moral lessons. It’s like people are afraid that seeing “problematic” characters or situations will corrupt them, which is a pretty reductive way to approach art. The irony? This attitude can echo the authoritarian mindsets they claim to oppose—policing art and storytelling based on their subjective moral metrics.
2. Lack of Coherent Argumentation: The rise of hot takes on platforms like Twitter, TikTok, and Tumblr rewards outrage over thoughtful critique. Why spend time crafting a nuanced analysis when you can go viral with a spicy, half-baked claim? Unfortunately, this leads to circular reasoning, logical fallacies, and a lot of noise. It’s easier to declare something “toxic” or “bad writing” than to examine the writing itself and back up your claims.
3. Confusing Fandom Reaction with Authorial Intent: This is classic fandom behavior—treating the loudest and worst takes from a show’s fans as evidence that the show itself is flawed. People blur the lines between the creator’s intent, the actual text of the media, and fan interpretation. This leads to strawman arguments where critics argue against their own misrepresentation of a work rather than what’s actually on-screen.
Sociological Phenomena at Play:
• Purity Culture’s Internet Renaissance: The demand for “perfect” media that aligns with one’s values echoes older notions of purity culture, where deviations from prescribed moral standards are treated as harmful or dangerous. Instead of religious dogma, it’s now social and political ideals being weaponized.
• Echo Chambers and Outrage Economy: Algorithms push content that provokes strong emotions, so critiques often escalate in hyperbole and lose sight of nuance. If someone with a large following makes a bad-faith critique, it can spiral into a pseudo-consensus that’s hard to argue against.
• Performative Credibility: Some critics mask their lack of evidence or depth with performative outrage, using buzzwords like “toxic,” “homophobic,” or “misogynistic” without actually engaging with the material. They count on these accusations to shut down dissent.
• Media Literacy Decline: Many people consume media passively and lack the tools to analyze it critically. Schools often don’t prioritize teaching how to engage with narratives beyond surface-level consumption, so the skill of separating art from fandom or analyzing intent and subtext is underdeveloped.
What you’re witnessing is a microcosm of broader cultural trends that value being loud over being right, and it’s not exclusive to Vivziepop’s work. This dynamic plays out across all fandoms and internet communities—it just manifests differently depending on the subject matter.

"well, maybe when we're out in la and i'm not having to sing eight shows a week, i won't be as easily tired out, i can sing you a song to help you fall asleep or something." she doesn't want to think about how badly she knows she's blushing now, face hot with it as she chews on her bottom lip, trying to hide the smile that's creeping across her face. it feels nice, having someone like gradeigh there, in her corner, cheering her on no matter what. her parents, her siblings, they haven't even come to see her in any shows, and they all still live in the city, it isn't like it would be a huge inconvenience anyway. but she doesn't want to think about that. doesn't want to dwell on the idea.
she listens with rapt attention as he speaks, and shakes her head a little. "if this is fate, and i dunno if it is or if i believe in fate, i'm pretty sure we still would have met somehow. and if you want to be jammed into my art hole, maybe that's something we can explore tonight, when you're sleeping over." she feels her blush getting hotter, and quickly leans across the center of the car to kiss his cheek before settling back in her seat. "if you want." she thinks to add it as an afterthought, laughiing a little awkwardly. a soft hum leaves her, and she considers him for a minute before shrugging. "if you want, you're really good a social media, you can be my social media manager. my agent is always going on and on about how i need to be more active online, help boost my profile or whatever. we didn't really get to hard launch ourselves, but we could do something cute and fun on tiktok or something."
Tumblr media Tumblr media
He couldn’t help the smile on his face when she shared about the fairy princess aspiration. He could see her as that, something so delicate and yet powerful, but always free. He would be damned if anyone clipped her wings, not while he was around. He didn’t like to think of himself as someone who was possessive or overpowering, ever, but he would if it meant protecting her, saving her light. “You’re right, you are insecure. It’s cool though, I’m here to amp you up.” He took one hand off the wheel, using it to gently squeeze her thigh. “You think people are giving you chances, letting you on a broadway stage, because you’re nice? You’re talented, Daisy. The only reason I haven’t asked you to sing for me is because I don’t want to tire you.”
Listening to her talk about her family fit a few more pieces into the puzzle, it made sense that maybe she didn’t see her accomplishments as great when you had siblings like that. He guessed that was another way he had gotten lucky in life. “You fingered things out on your own though, yeah? Being born with a big brain is one thing, gaining knowledge is another.” He added when she had finished, glazing over at her when they were stopped at a light. “Would it be inappropriate to say I’d love to be jammed into your art hole? Respectfully, of course.” He was laughing at his own joke, but shook his head before becoming serious. “I’m glad you found something you were good at, that you have loved. Imagine, you don’t find performing, you aren’t at the stage door, I’m by myself in this car right now, going home to hang out with my parents. That’s a tragedy, Precious.”  He moved his hand to bring hers up to his mouth, kissing it briefly before removing his attention back to the road. “When I was younger I wanted to be my father, but I was pretty sure he was royalty. It was all very Lion King and I was a nightmare, I’m sure. There were a few years when I was prepubescent that I also thought about being a doctor, but blood always makes me pass out.” He didn’t know what he wanted to be now, if he was honest. Daisy’s arm candy seemed ideal, but he didn’t want to press on her too many expectations.

(re: sssniperwolf and jacksfilms) It's laughable that she escalated it that hard. Don't get me wrong, I'm pretty sure stalking him like that is illegal and it's terrifying regardless, but Jack said in a stream (can't remember which one) that he wasn't about bringing up past controversies of hers or cancelling. And now she shows up outside his house (wtf!!!). Like he was willing to only call her out for stealing and freebooting but she's gone and stalked him and Jack doesn't seem like the type of guy to take that shit. Actual WTF moment from her part. wild
omg long post below bc apparently I have opinions: YES!! THAT'S WHAT'S SO INCREDIBLE ABOUT THIS... Jack has been genuinely diligent about keeping things on-topic in his streams, and hasn't brought up any of her other Stuff, or anything Personal. Despite the fact that she kickstarted the whole thing by making it INCREDIBLY personal and attacking his physical appearance... His goal has been to call out and bring attention to content theft, and he's stuck with it. Dude's also cared about this for years, and she's not the first content thief he's criticized. He just hates the way that freebooting has become so accepted-- to the point where youtube praised her for "coming up with such creative video ideas"? Hey! Ew! Dude wasn't trying to get her cancelled though, there was no smear campaign of her character. He's been rallying to get her to CREDIT the creators that she relies on for all of her content. It would set a precedent for all other "react" channels on the platform for one of the biggest channels on youtube to actually give credit where credit is due. Or, god forbid, get permission first? It's not hard. It's already done the job of making some other people who do "react content" self-analyze whether or not their content is transformative, and to maybe care about crediting the creators they rely on for their genre to work. There is a way to make this kind of video that isn't so slimy. And making fun of her lackluster-at-best reactions is so far from even being a big deal. Bc she literally does just sit there and say nothing. Plus, his goal has a clear End built into it: if she started shouting out the creators she takes content from, and put links directly to their pages in her video descriptions, the job would be done! That's what he's asking her to do. Real bare minimum stuff. It legit would have been easy to steer away from the content theft and to also talk about her history of lying to her audience! her ghosting a dying kid with cancer who was a big fan of hers! the fact that she's been arrested for armed robbery! her history of transphobia! He would also get more clicks that way, which is what she claims is his sole goal- to get more clicks. I'll bring it up though! She's been a terrible person the whole time, and has kept a steady course of manipulating her audience of young children and/or, let's be completely honest, simps- into thinking that she's a Wholesome creator. (And now, into thinking she's an innocent victim.) All of the actual effort put in by her has gone toward optics, not the content she puts out. A carefully constructed online persona, for one, but also literal appearances. Jack totally can't say this, bc she already went off the handle and said the only reason he doesn't like her is bc he Hates To See A Woman Be Successful. But I can! That was a cheap shot for her to use that argument when, for once, it's not applicable! Much the opposite, even! Dudes online wouldn't go to bat for her if she didn't look the way she does. And it weakens any case she'd have against him by making baseless claims like that. She banks hugely on being an attractive woman to get her clicks/following. A massive amount of effort is put into her appearance. The makeup, the lip fillers, putting her hair in little pigtails, the chokers and tube tops, the big non-prescription Nerd Glasses, the thumbnails where she has her mouth open in That Expression?
I don't even have to say anything. But making a weird facial expression and putting your hair in pigtails aren't moral failings. Showing up at someone's real life home (whose address you shouldn't even have access to), filming the front of their house at night, doxxing them to your audience of millions of people? Because you were mad at them online? That is fully scary! Yeah girl I'm pretty sure that Jack can press charges! There is absolutely no way to take the moral highground now that she's literally stalked him, and doxxed his home. She tried to goad him and Erin (Jack's wife) out of the house, also, which creeps me out even more-- because what was she planning to do? The fact that she's been arrested for violent crime before does pop into my mind! lmao! Jack was streaming a game at the time that she was outside his home, and these clips of him, his friends, and Erin reacting in real time to what is genuinely a scary situation have been taken down in case he needs to use them in legal action. Shit is legitimately serious!
#sergle answers#long post#LONGEST POST ON EARTH I'M SO SORRY#saying all this out loud only takes a few minutes but typing it... girl this is a BOOK#clearly I have thoughts on this Online Drama but also this isn't online!#these are people who exist in real life. and compromising a person's safety bc he criticized you for stealing tiktoks#is a real life thing. this isn't confined to online spaces! you can turn off your computer to get away from An Argument#but someone going to your house?? that's absolutely terrifying#and all of this is just because he's been telling her to credit the creators. it could have been resolved so simply.#I hope he takes legal action against her bc he genuinely has grounds to do so.#and I can't imagine how terrified and upset I would be if someone was outside my door. filming my house for their audience.#also the 'what if the roles were reversed' argument is rarely made in good faith... but she's already brought up the topic.#this would be getting even more coverage and the optics would be Even Creepier if a strange man with millions of followers showed up#at the home of a woman- just bc she criticized his videos- filming her home address for all to see and trying to get her to come outside.#It's just as creepy that sssniperwolf did this as it would be coming from ANYONE else#it's been downplayed bc her being a little skinny woman means that A Man shouldn't be threatened by her#which. even if she wasn't going to Do anything. any one of her rabidly loyal online followers MIGHT. she's not the only one who could go to#his house now! anyone could show up.#sergle.txt#Jacksfilms#Sssniperwolf

friendly reminder that commenting on fics saying things like "commenting every day until a new chapter is posted" and then actually following through with that and bombarding a writer that much isnt funny and its actually disrespectful

If your argument is "there are no people of color in [x] because I personally don't see this person as a person of color" than it's like. a faulty argument.
#max rambles#this is about percy jackson#like. idk what theyre trying argue about#first this person is saying there arent any naturally blue eyes blond haired people of african decent without white interference#(there are with 0 white genes)#then theyre like theres no colored characters in any of the work#then when i gave a list of actual people of color they said i meant Main characters and im just like. all of the people i listed Are mains.#theyre literally in the same story.#and this all started bc someone else starred a different argument with me how black people cant see themselves in annabeth#and didnt have reason for how they cant other than the characters insrance isnt based off of race?#like. wtf are tiktokers On#ive learned more negative stuff in the world from tiktok than i have on anything else#like the people insisting that people cant be religious and gay bc then theyll be living a life of sin#like. its even worse than it is the real world bc they think bc theyre online rhey can get away with everything#edit: hes using the fact that he says hes black to say nothing hes said is racist#hes saying i must be white lady....bc i gave him examples of why hes wrong#like. im not a lady and. idk what to say abour the white comment since im technically not white either#but when i tried talking to him he just kept saying that#then when i pointed out hid Own racist comment he said 'im black so i cant be racist'.....#...........what#idk anymore man#i was talking about something else in the first place. he talked about something else and got mad when i didnt want to talk to him anymore#idk what he wants me to say when i comment and he ignores it or when i comment and he says that what he asked for 'doesnt count'

I never explicitly lied myself in fandoms but I would very much go out of my way when I was 10-11 to make it out I was older than I was and avoid saying my age location or name like ever. My information was kept close to my chest and I still generally keep that rule, with only my age being publicly available these days even though I'm 20 now. Like I'm an adult and I still don't like publicly giving out much information.
It is rather terrifying seeing how many kids are out here giving out personal information, age, name, semi specific location, illnesses or mental problems and offering up everything so openly in a Caard or "before you follow" and assuming putting "adults DNI" will solve the problems created by giving out so much information. Like of course they just shouldn't be on in general, there's an age limit on websites that you sign up to for a reason, and there's something to be said about kids that young shouldn't really be on the internet in the first place. But it still boggles my mind.
When did we stop teaching kids internet safety and stranger danger?
Kids on the internet now a days are literally wild.. like when I was 12 and on the internet, i was lying out my asshole I was telling people about my kids and my wife. I was talking to them about taxes and how I miss my college days.....now 12 year Olds are out here telling their AGE?!?! OR REAL NAME?!??! I was literally fucking Garry that worked at staples and had 2 children for like 4 years...

At this point I can't help but think that the people like the original anon are being either willfully ignorant to the damage AI has caused artists or that they just don't give a fuck so long as they got theirs...
Like, what the hell do you even mean by saying 'oh, well I thought even though I was stealing this other person's work and putting it into a machine that is literally designed to both steal and replicate the work of others without the OG writer's permission would be ok because I didn't publish my results online'???
As if having asked the author to begin with would have made shit better seeing as you couldn't be bothered to respect their art to begin with anyways.
I swear I'm so Fucking Tired of seeing this on both here and Twitter...
PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF NOT JUST FANDOM BUT OUT OF BASIC HUMAN DECENCY DO NOT:
TAKE FANFIC THAT DOESN'T BELONG TO YOU AND ALTER IT IN ANYWAY SHAPE OR FORM, REGARDLESS OF IT'S OVER 15 YEARS OLD OR WAS JUST WRITTEN YESTERDAY AT 5 IN THE MORNING
PROCEDE TO THEN PUT THAT WORK INTO A SYSTEM DESIGNED TO PLAGERIZE AND DESTROY ANY SEMBLANCE OF ARTISTIC VALUE IT ONCE HAD JUST BECAUSE YOU CAN'T WAIT FOR AN UPDATE OR FAIL TO UNDERSTAND ARTISTIC INTEGRITY :)
Seriously, it's not hard to act like a decent human being. Just use some common sense and maybe think about the consequences of your selfish actions is all I ask because while I hope this is just another stupid trend that dies down soon, it doesn't matter to the artists and writers who have already felt the brutal effects of AI on their own works.
All in all, please be respectful to both writers and artists and stay the hell away from Chatgpt and all the other crap like it; no amount of curiosity or boredom is worth the suffering and pain they have caused, and I for one, think we should be able to do better but than again that's just me...
(And, if you really must put anything in it why don't you put your own works in you published and see how it feels :) )
oh I wasn’t aware it was feeding the ai. I’ve inserted hundreds of fics into chatgpt for their continuation or for a different plot within the same context just for fun and out of curiosity… but I’ve never posted any of them…
Indeed, anything that is given to AI it can use later to draw from. That's why it doesn't matter if you post them or not as it has now access to those writers' texts without their permission.

Teacher!Steve isn't big on music himself, but he has a Spotify for his students so they can listen to the songs/artists they like when they're doing independent work/quizzes/etc. He makes them submit songs periodically throughout the year so it stays updated and all their music preferences are heard.
Naturally, all his students are excited to see what a mess his Spotify Wrapped is and Steve makes sure to schedule in time for each class period so they can go through it together when its released.
Of course, it's a hot mess but they all love it, especially the videos their top artists send in.
Steve generally has no idea who sings any of the songs on the various playlists and has a lot of fun putting a face to a voice as they scroll through each video. It's pretty standard selfie shots of the artists talking until they get to one where a man with curly hair and big brown eyes is hopping around like an excitable child, practically shouting his name into the camera and rambling about how much he "appreciates each and every one of the heathens who listens to Corroded Coffin."
Steve has to do a double take because, "wait what?! this is the guy that's always shouting and singing about demons?! but he's so cute!"
His first-period class bursts into laughter at his outburst and of course someone is videoing his reaction. It gets posted to TikTok before the dismissal bell rings and by the time lunch gets there, the video of Steve going heart eyes for Eddie Munson goes viral.
Steve's embarassed but he doesn't ask his student to take it down because he knows how much they've been hoping to go viral this year. Besides, its not like anyone important is every going to see it, right?
Wrong.
Of course, chronically online Eddie Munson stumbles upon the TikTok and promptly runs through the green room, declaring his love for the beautiful Mr. Harrington, who teaches history to high schoolers for a living. He forces their assistant to drop everything he's working on and track down this Mr. Harrington guy because Eddie will not rest until he can talk to him.
Fast forward two days and Steve is hiding in his classroom during lunch, avoiding his coworkers to shamelessly flirt with Eddie Munson via Zoom.

Someone accessed my Gmail 2 days ago, compromising my linked accounts like Twitter and YouTube. Here's how it happened, why I fell for it, and what you can learn to avoid making the same mistake:
Tumblr media
The scam I fell victim to was a cookie hijack. The hacker used malicious software to steal my browser cookies (stuff like autofill, auto sign in, etc), allowing them to sign in to my Gmail and other accounts, completely bypassing my 2FA and other security protocols.
A few days ago, I received a DM from @Rachael_Borrows, who claimed to be a manager at @Duolingo. The account seemed legitimate. It was verified, created in 2019, and had over 1k followers, consistent with other managers I’d seen at the time n I even did a Google search of this person and didnt find anything suspicious.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
She claimed that @Duolingo wanted me to create a promo video, which got me excited and managed to get my guard down. After discussing I was asked to sign a contract and at app(.)fastsigndocu(.)com. If you see this link, ITS A SCAM! Do NOT download ANY files from this site.
Tumblr media
Unfortunately, I downloaded a file from the website, and it downloaded without triggering any firewall or antivirus warnings. Thinking it was just a PDF, I opened it. The moment I did, my console and Google Chrome flashed. That’s when I knew I was in trouble. I immediately did an antivirus scan and these were some of the programs it found that were added to my PC without me knowing:
Tumblr media
The thing about cookie hijacking is that it completely bypasses 2FA which should have been my strongest line of defense. I was immediately signed out of all my accounts and within a minute, they changed everything: passwords, 2FA, phone, recovery emails, backup codes, etc.
I tried all methods but hit dead ends trying to recover them. Thankfully, my Discord wasn’t connected, so I alerted everyone I knew there. I also had an alternate account, @JLCmapping, managed by a friend, which I used to immediately inform @/TeamYouTube about the situation
Tumblr media
Meanwhile, the hackers turned my YouTube channel into a crypto channel and used my Twitter account to spam hundreds of messages, trying to use my image and reputation to scam more victims
Tumblr media
Thankfully, YouTube responded quickly and terminated the channel. Within 48 hours, they locked the hacker out of my Gmail and restored my access. They also helped me recover my channel, which has been renamed to JoetasticOfficial since Joetastic_ was no longer available.
Tumblr media
Since then, I’ve taken several steps to secure my accounts and prevent this from happening again. This has been a wake-up call to me, and now I am more cautious around people online. I hope sharing it helps others avoid falling victim to similar attacks. (End)
(side note) Around this time, people also started to impersonate me on TikTok and YouTube. With my accounts terminated, anyone searching for "Joetastic" would only find the imposter's profiles. I’m unsure whether they are connected or if it’s just an unfortunate coincidence, but it made the situation even more stressful.
