Reducing pigmentation around the mouth can be a gradual process that involves a combination of skincare, lifestyle changes, and potentially professional treatments.
Let’s see How to reduce pigmentation around mouth, here are some steps you can take:
Sun Protection:
Sun exposure can worsen pigmentation. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 daily, even on cloudy days. Reapply every 2 hours if you're outdoors.
Topical Treatments for reduce pigmentation around mouth:
Vitamin C:
A topical serum with vitamin C can help brighten skin and reduce pigmentation.
Retinoids:
Retinol or prescription retinoids can help improve skin texture and reduce pigmentation over time. Start with a lower meditation and progressively increase usage.
Niacinamide:
This ingredient can help regulate pigmentation and improve skin tone.
Exfoliation:
Regular but gentle exfoliation can help remove dead skin cells and promote cell turnover, which can improve the appearance of pigmentation. Use exfoliants like alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs) a few times a week.
Hydration:
Keeping your skin hydrated can improve its overall appearance and help fade pigmentation. Use a moisturizer suitable for your skin type.
Healthy Diet:
Eat a stable diet rich in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals. Foods like berries, citrus fruits, and leafy greens can promote skin health.
Hydroquinone:
This is a skin-lightening ingredient that can be effective in reducing pigmentation. However, it should be used under the guidance of a dermatologist, as it can have side effects if not used properly.
Professional Treatments for reduce pigmentation around mouth:
Chemical Peels:
A dermatologist can perform chemical peels that exfoliate the outer layer of skin, reducing pigmentation.
Laser Therapy:
Various laser treatments can target pigmentation and stimulate collagen production for smoother skin.
Microdermabrasion:
This procedure exfoliates the skin using a machine with fine crystals, improving skin texture and tone.
Avoid Irritation:
Harsh skincare products, aggressive scrubbing, and picking at the skin can worsen pigmentation. Be gentle with your skin.
Lifestyle Factors:
Quit Smoking: Smoking can contribute to skin damage and pigmentation.
Healthy Lifestyle: Get enough sleep, manage stress, and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Consult a Dermatologist: If pigmentation persists or is causing concern, consult a dermatologist. They can provide personalized recommendations and treatments based on your skin type and condition.
Remember that results may take time, and consistency is key. It's important to introduce new products and treatments gradually to avoid irritation or adverse reactions. Always do a patch test before using new products, and if you experience any adverse reactions, discontinue use and consult a dermatologist.

Natural Remedies for Dark Lips
Our lips naturally have a healthy red color, but various factors can lead to discoloration, such as sun exposure, smoking, nutritional deficiencies, and more. Discolored lips may appear unattractive, but there are natural remedies to lighten them:
1. Ice Cube Massage:
- Massaging lips with an ice cube wrapped in a clean cloth helps plump up skin cells, reducing discoloration.
2. Honey Scrub:
- A homemade honey scrub, made by mixing honey and sugar, exfoliates dead skin cells, lightening the lip skin.
3. Turmeric Paste:
- A paste of turmeric powder and water or milk, applied to the lips, utilizes the skin-lightening properties of curcumin to address lip depigmentation.
4. Lemon:
- The citric acid in lemon aids in exfoliating dead skin cells. Applying lemon juice before sleep or using a lemon wedge with sugar for gentle exfoliation can be effective.
5. Almond Oil Lip Massage:
- Almond oil, rich in Vitamin E, is recommended for lip massage to lighten melanin pigmentation. Adding lemon juice enhances depigmentation effects.
6. Cucumber Juice:
- Cucumber, rich in silica, is effective for skin depigmentation. Applying cucumber juice to lips and rinsing after a few minutes can be done once or twice a day.
Bottom Line:
Lip discoloration, often caused by smoking and other external factors, can be addressed with natural remedies. In addition to these remedies, in-office treatments like laser therapy and chemical peels are available for more intensive solutions. For further information, consulting dental professionals is recommended.

I spent a large portion of today researching tekhelet for work as part of a piece on ancient dyes and I got so stupid emotional. Like it's just a dye, but it was such an important thing in ancient Judaism as the dye which would make tzitzit blue and the method of making it was lost around the time of the Arab conquest of Israel in the 7th century. (Also I note that lots of sources date the loss of the secret of the original manufacture but many just gloss over it mapping directly onto the colonisation of Judea/Israel by the Rashidun Caliphate - I know that the two events may not be connected but I have spent too long looking at history to be able to say that these were completely unrelated y'know... Lost knowledge is very, very rarely a coincidence)
They literally, to this day, still don't know how it was made.
There are multiple theories, most of which revolve around the murex snail (where we get Tyrian purple from) and the fact that if you expose the pigment it produces - di-bromo indigo - to light at the right point in the production process, it is reduced to regular indigo from which you can get your blue dye. But this has all been worked out using modern methods. The ancient production method of tekhelet is gone and I honestly find myself mourning yet another piece of lost knowledge form our history.
#jumblr#thinking about our history and mourning what was lost#we have lost so much feom millenia of pogroms and genocides and its a fucking tragedy#so many stories#so much knowledge#so much love and joy snuffed out like a candle on a windy day

Hiii, can i request for wally angst?? I want read some his angst buttt not because his gone ykwim, but because of love/romantic angst
Hii, yes Ofc! Sorry for all the time that I’ve spend without answering, I’ve been focused in academics and stuff 💗💗
Warnings: fem!reader, angst romance, forbidden love (?) Words: 1291 Disclaimer: English isn't my first language so I apologise for any mistakes or misunderstandings!
Wally and You, You and Wally, it meant the same thing. Since you were kids, you both have…developed an atraction towards each other, but not like everyone knew.
Wally, obviously, was an speedster like his uncle Barry, aka the Flash, and was an Speed Force user. You, on the other hand…well, all that I can say is that you have this peculiar gift.
You could steal someone’s or something’s cinetic energy. That was your gift. And you’ve been okay with that all your life, until your mentor introduced you to Barry and Wally when both of you were 13 years old.
Wally’s powers and yours were like if they almost repelled. When he got near you, your powers unconsciously saw his as an never ending buffet, taking and taking his energy even if you didn’t want to, which lead to Wally losing slowly but securely the speed of his Speed Force. You didn’t know how to stop taking and he didn’t know how to stop allowing you to take it.
It’s sure to say that this broke the two 13 years old kids hearts, having to stay away from each other even tho they knew they were soulmates, or as much of a soulmate would have a 13 year old.
With the pass of time, you both learned to control it but only a few moments. The record was 62 minutes, you tested it 3 month ago, but it ended with Wally almost passed out in your bed and you vibrating with a crazy hot temperature by all of the energy you received.
The logical decision would be to simply stop seeing each other, but they couldn’t do that, how could they? They knew each other from tip to toe, things about each other that no one else knew.
With that stubbornness, you’ve made thousands of FaceTimes and Calls that went for hours. No matter how many times Barry or your mentor tried to reduce your interactions for your own well being, they didn’t succeed in anything and always ended up with an overly tired Wally and an exaggerated energetic you.
At night, when Wally would come to your room to meet with you, you guys would forget about anything and anyone. He would just sit on your bed and wrap your stood up figure with his arms, around your waist while his forehead rested on your stomach, your hand running through his messy red hair.
Those nights, things would get complicated. But not because you would do things, no, but because you would learn about the others souls. You would talk about life crisis, you would cry, mourn, laugh and get angry at each other. But it didn’t matter how many times you tried to get a s/o, you just couldn’t. None of them had ginger hair, none of them had sparkly green eyes and none of them was Wally. At the end, you would always return towards the other, always close but never close enough.
Things didn’t need to be told between you two, you just knew.
I love you. You would spell on his back when you two where laid in your bed, his face on your neck as you scratched his back, writing all the thing you couldn’t dare to say out loud.
I love you. He would show, when his pupils dilated at the very less thought about you, his green pigment being less visible as you passed your finger tips through his forehead, taking his hair out the way in a try to see them better.
You would show always how much you love each other, but not the words, never the words. Neither of you could afford it, knowing that in some minutes, you’ll have to get apart for the good of your well being, knowing that it was a promise neither of you could afford to make, knowing that for the sake of the world, you needed to be away from each other.
But God, it hurts, so, so much. You would steal glances across the room whenever you were in a hero meeting, both of your mentors standing beside each one of you, with a big warning in their eyes, message clear.
You would receive gifts from him and him from you, you would want to cry your eyes out when you’d notice how the curfew was slowly approaching, Wally’s body exposing himself as he started to move and talk slower while yours would start to be more awake and energetic.
If you decide to just be happy and love each other, you’d regret it. It would only cause pain, both of you draining until the point there wasn’t no energy in his soul and yours had too much that you couldn’t resist it.
“I would recognize you in another lifetime.” Wally murmured one night, kneeled in front of you while you were sat on your bed, Wally helping you to put your shoes on before tangling the laces.
“All of me?” You would whisper back, locking eyes with him as you felt how your body was more energetic than usual and his speak more slower.
“Entirely.” He promised “You could have green or blue eyes, I think I’d recognize you in completely different bodies.”
You just stare back at him, believing every words because you know he means it.
5 more minutes. You would beg in your head to every type of gods or divine presence you knew about.
Being careful, you put your hand on his cheek and pressed gently your forehead against his.
“In another life.” You would state in a whisper, voice shaken and with a hint of a promise.
“In another life, yes.” He would answer with a raspy voice, his fingers brushing a tear that slide through your cheek before resting his hand on one of your lower rips, where a small W was tattooed in ink and matched the tattoo of your initial in his back.
Everyone knew that you two had something, but they didn’t knew nothing, they just scratched the surface, not knowing even in the slightest about the complications of their situation.
Weeks passed and when Wally came to you room at night with a simple paire of rings and a paper for you to sign, you would take it without a second though and signed the paper without hesitation.
You never told anyone, you couldn’t. You would have to keep it a secret that would be revealed only when one of you died. When it was time to read your testament and then, and only then, your silent promise would be revealed.
Maybe, but just maybe, you could be together in another life. You could have a true wedding ceremony, with a long, white and elegant dress. Maybe Wally would cry when he saw you walking down the altar. You could travel the toward, hold hands without a limited time and accepting him with all of your might. You could even have a mix of you and him walking around your house, you could have children.
But that wasn’t this life. In this life, your love story must be a secret and you know it. You won’t see each other in a long time only for you to be a maximum of one hour together if you can.
In this life, you would have to deny him progeny, deny him for eternity. In this one, your lifetime of love didn’t need to (or more so ever couldn’t) leave any evidence.
In this life, Wally West couldn’t be yours completely, he would be more of the world than yours. But at least your shared love is true, you loved each other, and true love isn’t real unless it’s returned.
So sorry for taking so long, I’ve been busy with personal problems buttt now I think I’m back (?).
I hope you enjoyed the reading, it didn’t convince me 100% but it’s currently 2:22am so it’s the best I got.

hypothetical fawn golden shaded grizzle!
Soooo as I have mentioned briefly I am in a wcrp, in which said wcrp uses genetic terms & has a genetic roller for rp. someone came in and asked what THIS beast might look like
And so I figure I'll share what I came up with since it took me So Fucking Long and I do think enough ppl who follow me might be interested!!
This is the end result!! I will be copy/pasting my explanation & inserting more images below
Im going to be using more basic explanations of a gene and only in relation to how they apply to this cat so im not writing 5 million word
To start, we have a regular fawn ticked tabby!
Wideband then makes the hairs of the cat have more pheomelanin (golden/background color) and less melanin (fawn color), as well as usually restricting the melanin to the tip of the hair.
Theeennnn we introduce silver (as seen below), which reduces the amount of pigment found in the pheomelanin; when combined with wideband making a cat look particularly pale (since any melanin in the wideband-effected hairs can also be broken up/less "solid," it can result in melanin looking more diluted/warm, it can also visually lighten the melanin areas on a cat.) I probably should've made the pale parts more desaturated at this point but ignoring that….
This is where we get Really Hypothetical!
As far as I'm aware we don't really know what chausie grizzle is or does. I've seen sources like messybeast (lol) claim that it is just silver-tipping found in black chausies/melanistic jungle cats but I dissagree. I personally believe a theory [User] initially mentioned to me is more probable; the idea that it is moreso the expansion of agouti; Potentially making the tabby hairs of the cat have more melanin than normal. (Maybe also restricts it towards the base of the hair to explain the satin-like appearance it can have?)
So…given that they basically would have the opposite effects assuming that this is true, there's really no saying how they'd interact. They could cancel eachother out, one could be dominant over the other, ect… There's also no telling which one of these options is more likely.
I went with the idea that the grizzle would be more dominant/have more effect, but that the wideband could potentially still be in effect where the grizzle seems to be least present (around the belly & flanks) which kind of breaks up the solid-ness of most grizzle cats (since grizzle does vary a lot.)
Silver would still work the same throughout all of this & make the phaeomelanin a lighter almost-white color. (There's a potential grizzle also does this too? But. shrug.) …Again I really should've made the light yellow color more silver-colored but i digress.
Now we have colorpoint! Also have no clue if it'd have some weird secret surprise fucked up effect on grizzle but it does seem to be a fairly reliable gene in that it is just a form of albinism so it should have a similar or same effect on everything. It just inhibits colors in the warmer areas of the body & allows it in the colder parts (thus, extremities!)
....And from there you've guys seen what I did when I added the thai white! Not sure how DBE would effect it, but I made my best guess & it wasn't the most important part of this . adventure jdbhjhg
Oh, bonus picture of my canvas with the most refs i've ever used for one piece lol. (Digital piece, anyway. Ceramics is another thing entirely....)
shoutout to @/felinefractious for sourcing pretty much all of said refs lmao

hello! I loved the weirdcore au, such a cool idea, i wanted to ask, how do vil and rook clean their wings? taking a bath seems kinda risky, imagine the pain of getting soap on multiple eyes! Actually their self care routine as a whole makes me curious, does vil still wear makeup here? Or he just takes care of his hair?
Weirdcore AU Masterlist Here!
I AM AWAKE AND READY TO TALK MORE ABOUT MY AU :D
Vil and Rook's wings! They definitely need to work around the eyes, but they have third eyelids for each of their eyes - similar to crocodiles! This allows them to fly with them open to observe the ground beneath them - which can assist in hunting or searching for something. It can also mean that irritants are more difficult to get into their eyes - but there are still problems with using cleaning agents on their wings.
Generally though, they actually don't use soaps on their wings! A thorough enough job of preening with clean water washes away any accumulated dirt, blood, dust, or dead skin cells away well enough - and damaged feathers come loose quite easily to be pulled out during preening sessions. Not to mention, soaps can strip the wings of natural oils that protect their skin and feathers.
(Chances are, if you visit in the evenings, you may come across groups of Pomefiore students preening one-another's wings in little cliques - as it's a common bonding activity for individuals with feathered wings.)
As for the rest of their self care routines, it would really need to differ from person to person... I'll speak more in depth about how their features work as well as how they maintain their appearances under the cut.
Vil's flesh has an almost malleable feel to it - it's almost slime-like to the touch but without any residue left behind, while also having the texture of human skin. Looking at him closely enough reveals that his body is actually semi-transparent. He uses pigment sacs - similar to octopi - to imitate the appearance of galacies on his skin's surface, but he can just as easily manipulate light to alter his appearance as he wishes.
Because of this, his skin may be more fragile and need more gentle cleansers and a thorough moisturising routine - which Vil keeps on top of, of course. Additionally, although I was unable to include it in his sprite edit, Vil has near-invisible glass-like talons instead of fingernails and toenails which he keeps well maintained and filed sharp.
Vil's hair is odd in the sense that it's more like liquid than hair. It's quite viscous, but leaves no residue when touched like his skin, and anything that touches it can pass through with little difficulties aside from the viscosity. Touching it can leave a tingling (almost electric) sensation in the hands, and ingestion can spell death due to the toxicity of the oils and hormones Vil's body produces to ward off danger. It doesn't need cleaning as it maintains itself for the most part, but Vil often adds ground up gold and gemstones to colour it how he wants to.
His wings and tail, as mentioned above, are kept neat and tidy through preening sessions with Rook and, more recently, Epel. He has glands that secrete natural oils under his feathers, which can be spread across them to moisturise them properly and strengthen them.
(Fun fact - When Vil was a newborn, he looked more like an amoeba with six stubby little limbs (which later grew into his wings!) He learned how to maintain a much more structured body shape and control his pigment sacs like his father later on in life)
Rook's self care routines are more focused on his animalistic traits - polishing his horns and brushing through his fur any time it gets a bit too unruly. He also often applies moisturising oils to the palms of his hands, as they are similar to paw pads that foxes have and need more tlc to keep them soft and reduce irritation/itchiness.
Bathing habits of his are similar to Vil, vetoing the use of soap on his wings but still using them on the rest of his body. Due to his fur, though, Rook may have a hard time getting thoroughly dry after without help - although he often opts to shake himself off and flap his wings to create wind to help him dry faster. Because of this, bathing has to be an evening task for him - lest he end up with skin irritation from trapped moisture.
(Vil spent a god awful amount of time combing through Rook's fur and applying potions to his skin to prevent irritation when he first moved to Pomefiore - and since then Rook's always been manhandled a little bit if Vil suspects he's falling slightly behind on that area of self-care. He is NOT sitting with Rook in his lap for hours untangling that mess of a coat again - his shedding in the spring is bad enough!)
Epel needed a LOT of TLC when Vil first spotted him - his body, hair, and wings are all made of a marble-like material. Had he practiced self care often enough, Epel would have handled the cold climate in Harveston perfectly well. However, he would often insist that applying protective wax and oils to maintain smooth skin was unnecessary since he could handle the cold just fine without it.
This meant that, once he arrived at NRC, what would have been smooth and well cared for features was instead rough around the edges with damage done by the cold and the snow from years spent outside in that environment. Epel's self care routine is chock full of revitalising tinctures designed to help his skin regain it's strength and smoothness, as well as a special type of beeswax to protect him from any more damage - which is also applied to his horns.
As for cleaning, soap and water works well except for on his wings - which instead has a special cleanser Vil made with keratin-boosting properties to ensure that they're strengthened properly without interfering with Epel's ability to fly.
(Epel himself is a little miffed with all of the routines Vil made him keep up with after he joined Pomefiore, but will admit that he feels much better a lot of the time now that he's actually properly taking care of himself.)
#twst#twisted wonderland#disney twisted wonderland#disney twst#TWST Weirdcore AU#vil schoenheit#rook hunt#epel felmier#please let me know if you'd like me to elaborate on anything! I'm happy to talk more about this AU lol

Ayeoo, finally working on my doll again. Small victory for me because my mental state has been chaotic to say the least.
I don't remember what, if anything, I've shared on my current goblin-self doll? Actually I can save this as a draft easily, lemme go check.
Oh g's like nothing. Okay. Welp, grab a snack cause I'm about to overexplain everything up to this point!
Right, so I made a custom Monster High doll a while back and for my first ever attempt at it, she turned put pretty good. Especially since she was meant to just be a practice piece for stuff as I was working on another doll along side it to be my first. Never finished that doll, but I think I have to high of expectations for it compared to my skill level right now.
Jump forward to G3 Monster High being released, and I decided to remake my test-doll-turned-goblin-self with a G3 Draculaura body because it much more accurately represents my body style. I got all the way to having the body painted, my own tattoos added, and various scars and marks detailed. And honestly, I was pretty happy with the result! Here's some photos of that;
Love the colors, and I was happy enough with what I'd done to keep moving, except for the face. It was driving me crazy that I could still see the line where I added the Apoxie Sculpt to the jaw so clearly, despite it being sanded as smooth as I could get it. So I wiped her head and was going to try again. Not sure what my plan was, to be honest, but she got shoved to the corner of the desk for a good while.
I ended up finding another G3 core Draculaura at Value Village in one of their hanging bagged toys, and for $8 bucks with all her accessories I couldn't pass it up. At the time I didn't plan on it, but ended up deciding to start over completely on v2 of my goblin-self using this doll. The core dolls have an articulated chest, unlike the budget dolls (Day Out which I was using, the 2 that came with the car from Costco, ect.), and there were a couple of things I think I could have done better on the body when it came to the joints.
Jumping forward I did all the prep work on the new doll, sanding everything to remove mold lines and smooth it all nice, removed the face up and hair, yadah yadah yadah. I then attempted to dye the new body with some Rit dye and whatever brand it is that's sold at Dollar Tree, knowing it wasn't going to take correctly because the Rit wasn't for synthetics. I was really only hoping to dye the joints darker, because if you've ever seen or customized your own dolls, body repaints rarely stay painted at the joints. It's kinda inevitable if your doll moves at all. I just wanted to reduce the jarring difference between OG light pink skin and the new green skin.
It sort of worked, the teal Rit did nothing (as I expected), but the red-orange Dollar Tree stuff dyed her a bit. I didn't do her head at all since this was just meant to darken the parts that'd be rubbing together.
If all the different plastics on the body would take dye the same way this would have been a cute color honestly 😂
Skintone differences aside, it did darken down the plastic used for the wrist and elbow joints, which was my main goal. But I had another idea I wanted to try as you may have noticed in the image background. Alcohol inks! I wouldn't recommend. At least not directly from the bottle dripped into the joint.
The high concentration of alcohol in the inks very quickly made the vinyl of the lower arms get gummy. It's the same reason you don't want to use acetone on the bodies of dolls basically, it just destroys the plastics a bit too much. The pigment did start to take to the plastic, but with how quickly I had to blot it back off to stop the plastic from melting it just didn't have enough time to stay. However it did make me think of another way to essentially stain the joints. I think the same could possibly be done with a brush and alcohol inks directly maybe? But my hubs has Prismacolor Alcohol based markers so I switched gears to bring those.
And yea! A very good option! At this point I'd already washed and resanded the body to remove the outer layers of the dye from the hard plastic parts so in that image she's pretty light again. It takes extremely well to the hard plastic parts and because the concentration of alcohol is much lower it doesn't make the vinyl arms feel sticky like the inks did. I have a video of the joints moving I'm going to upload on its own after. Cause I really think this might be a viable way to help reduce the obviousness of joints in skintone changes, and I don't want it buried in my nonsense 😂
I ended up coloring the whole body with the marker, not just the joints. The hard plastic took the pigment so well that if the paint does end up scraping off anywhere it was worth it to have the marker color underneath everything. I know that spots like the knees and the butt were getting scrape marks on the first repaint just from posing, so hopefully this helps those spots look good well after I'm finished the doll!
At this point I've now gotten the body all prepped and ready to paint with the new skintone. Sanded, dyed, MSC'd, and waiting! I started working on the new head while I was figuring out the dye situation.
I wasn't planning on making this a multiple post thing (other than the video) but I think I'ma split it up here! I'm still going to type out the next post now but I'll schedule it for later 😂 Because unlike Insta, I can do that and not have to remember to come back and actually make the post later.
And thanks if you've read this far ☺️ I apreaciate the interest! See you in the next one!

since point coloration is temperature-based, how far can that go? will a pointed cat be super light if raised in a high heat environment, and vice versa? I wonder how dark pointed cats can get… but that would probably require extremely unpleasantly cold conditions
The way the color restriction genes work is through manipulating activation of the tyrosinase enzyme which plays a critical role in pigment production. The mutation prevents it from working at normal body temperature (100.5 - 102.5F) resulting in reduced pigmentation but will function normally at cooler locations (lower than ~91.5F).
It isn’t as simple as hot = light and cold = dark, ambient and body temperature both play a role. Colorpoint kittens are born solid white because their temperature and their environment (in the womb) are both hot.
Bit there’s also a degree of individual variation for reasons… that I don’t really know? Someone else might, or maybe the rest of the world is as clueless as me.
For example when a pointed cat is shaved for a procedure the fur will grow in dark because the skin is exposed, meaning it isn’t as well insulated and will be cooler.
My favorite example of this Quattro, a cat @followthebluebell shared from his work. Here’s a link to the post about him, along with another example in a snow lynx Bengal.
And here’s a less extreme example of dark-colored regrowth in a seal point Tonkinese from work during a visit with us sometime after her spay.
So.
Then are shorthaired pointed cats not consistently darker than longhaired ones? Why do pointed sphynx not appear near-solid? One of the darkest colorpoint’s I’ve met is a longhair cat.
Here’s a Sphynx kitten (Left) compared to an Siamese kitten (Right). Their coloration appears to be developing at a similar pace.
It seems like part of the variety may be based on the “normal” of the individual cat?
One time we had a seal point board with us and she was having a sort of inflammatory reaction on her lip - it was awhile ago, I don’t remember exactly what the issue was - and the fur on her muzzle became much lighter until the issue was resolved and grew back in normal.
So I guess this was a long winded way to say… I ‘unno?

I have a snake question (snestion)! Are you breeding towards a specific Morph Combo that you want to be consistently producing, or are you spreading out, aiming for variety?
Ooohhh that's a good snestion and one I've been asking myself a lot lately.
I was originally looking at variety, hoping to explore multiple morphs and hit a wider customer base, but I realize now that it's better for me to be a specialist in a narrow range of morphs that genuinely interest me. That said, I am still exploring a few things. Here's where I'm focused:
How Peach interacts with Palmetto, Charcoal, and Anery
What in the world Hatshepsut's red-enhancing gene is and if it's RF or maybe even Peach this whole time
Revitalization of the Sunglow morph and maybe a revamp with inclusion of Tessera
Very Obnoxiously Pink Snake
Something something Moonstone
I have a couple of het Scaleless snakes still, and I think I'll prove them next year before I go making any firm decisions about where to go from there. I know that Scaleless is a controversial morph, but as long as they have belly scales I really don't see it as any more deleterious than Snow, which removes eye pigment and makes snakes much more sensitive to light and possibly functionally blind... But of course nobody's calling THAT "unethical..." 🤔
Also scaleless adult snakes are found occasionally in the wild so it's clearly not a fitness-reducing trait.
Aaaanyway I've been rehoming a good number of my adults and holdbacks and reconsidering what I really want out of this hobby. Currently it's not sparking much joy, if you get what I'm saying.
If the recent trends continue, I may be forced to downsize further or get out completely and just keep my favorites as pets.
#y'all just don't like the snakes that feel weird admit it#lack of belly scales is really harmful tho#gotta have them scutes!#snake#snakes#reptile#reptiles#reptiblr#corn snake#corn snakes#corn snake morphs#answers to questions#text post#i realize we're on the wrong side of an election and folks are responding to a down economy#If these babies don't sell I'm not making more#i can't justify adding more snakes if i can't get the ones i have into homes

don't make me over (v. sanji x reader)
a.n.: ah shit here we go again! writing for my forever favorite blond man! it's a short one, but i liked the prompt (had the glee cover of don't make me over stuck in my head while writing hence the title.) summary: when you get frustrated doing your makeup, sanji lends a helping hand. c.w.: suggestive themes, language(?), not beta read (fuck it wii bowl), pet names, tEnSiOn, sanji is a little shit, reader and sanji are idiots obviously in love w each other, unspoken feelings come to light? w.c.: 621
“Oh, fuck me!”
Sanji nearly dropped the dishes he’d been cleaning when he heard your expletive from across the ship. The door to your room was ajar, and your current position was far less compromising than what he’d come to expect. You were sitting at your vanity, deep in concentration. The eyeliner on your lids seemed to not want to work with you, and you were removing it for the umpteenth time.
“Everything okay here?” He leaned against your door frame, arms crossed.
“No,” Frustration was more than evident in your voice, “I need you.”
“You… need me?” It took everything in Sanji not to faint on the spot. He only dreamed of the day that he’d be able to service you on a more personal level. And you knew he liked you, saw the lingering looks he gave you when you’d leave a room. But it was no different on your end. He was attractive, yes, but he was also complex. Sanji would trek the world on his own if it meant providing you solace.
“Need your help with this.” You motion to the makeup both on your face and resting on your vanity. “Can you be my model? I’m going to lose it if I mess up anymore on my own face.”
“‘Course.” Anything for you, he thinks to himself. You motion him into the room, and let him take his spot at the edge of your bed.
You were able to get a good chunk of practice in, but your canvas seemed keen on meandering.
“Listen blondie,” you warned, “ you move around one more time and I’m shutting this downt.” You raised a brow. You knew he was doing this on purpose, tempting you. Trying to see how far he could push you before you folded.
“That so, sweetheart?” He was testing you, seeing how far he could get you before you acted. But you knew this, and you also knew you were going to do something about his purposeful meandering. So you straddle him. His hands were like magnets, immediately reaching for your hips. “Much better. Just have the eyeliner left.” You grab his chin, providing extra support. “If you can handle it.” Sanji let out a small chuckle, and you could feel his breath tickle your fingers. “You’re in charge. Do what needs to be done, doll.” His tone was sickly sweet, relishing in the reduced proximity between the two of you. He was enjoying this, enjoying you.
Hell, you couldn’t say you minded it. Your current situation aside, you would have gone for him anyways. It was only a matter of time before unspoken feelings would come to light.
The application was finished without a hitch, as Sanji succumbed to your wishes. You stretched to grab the hand mirror resting on your vanity. Sanji was quick to focus on how your shirt rode up as you reached, exposing your midriff. “So, what do you think?” You pose the mirror in front of him, allowing him to gauge your work for himself.
And Sanji was feeling forward. “I think some lipstick would be the perfect way to complete the look you’ve given me.” He raised his brow, hoping you’d pick up on his insinuation.
“Good thinking, pretty boy.” You leaned in to kiss the cook, transferring some of the pigment on your lips to his. Once you pull away, you drag your thumb under his lips, cleaning up the excess color. You held him for a bit longer, running lines over his cheek with your thumb. Admiring your work. Admiring him.
And Sanji brought his face close to yours, leaning in for another kiss. A soft one, gentle and sweet.
“Glad I could help you, sweetheart.”

Piebald in Cats
White spotting grades
Eye colors + colloquial terms
EYE COLOURS White, or mostly white, cats often have blue eyes, amber eyes or one of each colour. Non pedigree white, or mostly white cats, may have green or yellow eyes. Non-pedigree colour & mostly-colour cats can have eyes any colour, but rarely blue eyes. In pedigree cats, breed standards define which eye colours are allowed.
Geneticist terms
Unusual patterns (developmental)
(Brindled Bicolour) Due to failure of one of the pigments in a red/black tortoiseshell.
Roan patterns
Salt-and-pepper pattern, most striking in black roan. Associated with Karpati gene and Lykoi gene.
Dominant mutation from Eastern Europe (Poland, Romania), variable roan effects including "reverse colourpoint" effect.
Found in Finnish feral colony, 2007; Identified 2024 as mutation of white spotting gene.
Tabby-style pattern seen in supposed feral cat, resembling snow leopard clouding. Authenticity not confirmed.
Age/health related
Early stage - isolated white spots.
Later stage - Cobweb/Snowflake effect progressing to solid white.
Fur around the eyes becomes pale, giving spectacled effect.
Fur may grow back white.
May be greying of fur around muzzle.
"Thai" white spotting gene (skunk stripe)
The Thai White Spotting pattern includes a white dorsal stripe and a white tail that may have a band or blotches of black. In Thailand, the pattern is called But-Se-Weis or But-Tal-Lon and various degrees of white—all with a dorsal stripe—are depicted in manuscripts. These patterns can also be seen in native Thai cats. The diagrams below show some of the variations.
Theories of how white spotting works - DISPROVEN
Theory 1: The melanoblasts arise from the neural crest (the back of the embryo) and migrate over the body when the skin forms. If melanoblasts don't reach their intended position before the skin is fully formed, those areas of skin won't have pigment producing cells and will be white. This is why white is most often found on areas furthest from the neural crest: paws, belly and chest. Areas closest to the neural crest—the back and tail—are most likely to get pigment cells.
Theory 2: A cellular mechanism reduces the melanoblasts in certain areas. Melanoblasts first migrate over the whole surface of the embryo. At the extremities, they selectively die out (apoptosis) or are biochemically turned off. The dying off/turning off spreads towards the torso. How far it reaches depends on a chemical gradient that is strongest at the extremities, but gets weaker further away. The white belly area is the embryonic ventral seam that expands rapidly during growth.
Theory of how white spotting works - PROVEN
The White Spotting gene affects the embryo melanoblasts which become pigment-producing skin cells (melanocytes).
Theory 3: For high grade white spotting there may be another mechanism that produces jigsaw-like patches. First the melanoblasts migrate evenly across the skin surface. Then the expanding skin surface "cracks" during early embryo growth. Cracks break up the coloured surface into islands. The islands drift apart over the embryonic surface as the embryo grows. White areas form between the coloured islands. The white areas are like scar tissue and there are no more melanocytes available to fill them in. Some islands can get pushed together to create a mask-and-mantle pattern. It's similar to how continents moving on the Earth's surface. The white belly area is the embryonic ventral seam that expands rapidly during embryo growth (or it is the limit of melanocyte migration). Black feet are black islands that get pushed to the foot extremity by the expansion of the belly region the same time that limbs were forming.

Understanding Laser-Based Hair Reduction (LBHR): A Tailored Solution for PCOS
Living with PCOS often means managing a range of challenging symptoms, including hirsutism, or excessive hair growth. For many of us, finding a reliable and long-term solution to reduce unwanted hair feels like an endless journey. Laser-Based Hair Reduction (LBHR) stands out as a promising option—especially for those grappling with the persistent, stubborn hair growth that accompanies PCOS.
LBHR uses advanced technology to target the hair follicle beneath the surface of the skin, addressing the root cause rather than offering a temporary fix. This precision sets LBHR apart from traditional methods like shaving and waxing. This is why we recommend shaving before your session; we’re targeting the melanin in the root of the hair follicle rather than the hair shaft itself.
The Science Behind LBHR
Contrary to popular belief, LBHR does not target hair directly. Instead, it employs concentrated light to focus on the pigment within the hair follicle (Ibrahimi et al., 2011). The concept of selective photothermolysis (SPTL) is crucial here, as it selectively damages the hair follicle while protecting the surrounding skin, leading to long-term results (Ibrahimi et al., 2011).
The extended theory of SPTL suggests that laser treatment can effectively disrupt the stem cells and nutrients within the bulge of the hair follicles through the diffusion of heat, significantly delaying terminal hair growth (Ibrahimi et al., 2011). Unlike waxing or shaving, which offer temporary solutions, LBHR leads to lasting changes in hair growth patterns, making it particularly valuable for those with hirsutism (Kang et al., 2021).

Why LBHR is a Game-Changer for Managing PCOS Symptoms
For those of us with PCOS, excess hair growth can feel overwhelming and exhausting. We’ve already discussed how hormonal imbalances, particularly elevated levels of androgens (male hormones), lead to hair that grows thicker and faster. While traditional hair removal methods like shaving or waxing may seem more accessible and cost-effective in the short term, they only provide temporary relief. These methods often require frequent maintenance—whether weekly or bi-weekly—which can quickly become burdensome.
LBHR offers a more targeted, long-term approach. One of its key advantages for people with PCOS is its ability to significantly reduce hair over time. By damaging the hair follicle and the cells responsible for regrowth, laser treatments decrease both the density and thickness of hair, impeding the rate of growth and leading to longer-lasting results.
Many of us with PCOS have noticed visible changes—hair that grows back slower, finer, and thinner after consistent laser sessions. Since a full hair growth cycle takes around a month, it’s important to schedule your initial treatments about four weeks apart to target hair during its active growth phase. While it’s impossible to pinpoint the exact phase each individual hair is in (as each one can be in a different phase), treating hair every four weeks increases the likelihood of targeting a significant portion during the anagen phase. This approach helps weaken the hair progressively, session by session.
Additional Benefits Beyond Hair Reduction
Skin Texture and Odour Management
In addition to reducing hair growth, LBHR helps improve skin texture and manage odour. For people with PCOS, hirsutism can sometimes result in rough skin, often known as “chicken skin” (keratosis pilaris). With less hair growth, the skin’s surface gradually smooths out over time.
LBHR also helps reduce body odour by minimising hair in areas where sweat and bacteria tend to accumulate. This can be especially helpful for those who struggle with odour related to excessive hair growth, as less hair means fewer places for moisture and bacteria to be trapped.
Minimises Ingrown Hairs
One of the major benefits of LBHR, particularly for individuals with PCOS, is the reduction of ingrown hairs. Unlike waxing or shaving, which can lead to ingrown hairs as the hair grows back, laser treatments target the hair follicle itself, thereby reducing the chances of hair growing incorrectly beneath the skin.
Time-Saving in the Long Run
While LBHR may require an initial commitment of several sessions, it ultimately saves time in the long run. People with PCOS often have to deal with daily or weekly maintenance using other methods, whereas LBHR significantly extends the period between hair regrowth, reducing the time and effort spent on hair removal.
Less Irritation
Unlike traditional methods like shaving, which can lead to irritation, razor burns, and cuts, or waxing, which can cause skin trauma, laser treatments tend to be gentler on the skin when performed by a trained clinician. This makes LBHR a great option for individuals with sensitive skin, including those dealing with PCOS-related sensitivity.
Improved Confidence and Emotional Wellbeing
For many with PCOS, excessive hair growth can be a source of insecurity. The long-term results from LBHR can contribute to improved self-confidence and emotional wellbeing, as it minimises the need for constant hair removal and reduces the psychological burden of managing hirsutism.
Weighing the Challenges of LBHR for PCOS
However, LBHR isn't without its challenges. The process requires multiple sessions over several months, which can be both time-consuming and costly. The financial commitment is often the largest barrier, especially since those with PCOS typically need to treat larger areas of the body where hair growth is most excessive. Depending on the severity of hirsutism and an individual’s hair type, results may vary. While I and many others with PCOS have experienced a reduction in hair growth, it’s crucial to understand that LBHR does not permanently remove hair. Rather, it reduces it, and hormonal fluctuations can still lead to regrowth. I know I’ve mentioned this before, and it may seem repetitive, but it’s frustrating to see how often LBHR is misadvertised as a permanent solution.
A specific challenge we've touched on previously—and which is essential to emphasize—is paradoxical hypertrichosis. This condition occurs when the heat from the laser stimulates hair growth in areas where it was previously sparse or absent. This is most likely to happen when non-hairy areas are treated or where the hair is finer and lighter. Since laser targets the pigment in the hair follicle, it can be less effective on finer hair, complicating proper targeting. If paradoxical hypertrichosis does occur, the only way to manage this unexpected hair growth is through continued treatments at higher settings. This underscores the importance of only treating areas where hair growth is already a concern and being cautious of clinics that offer full-body laser packages without proper consultation. While these packages may seem cheaper in the short term, they could lead to more frustration down the line.
It’s also important to address a common misconception, much like with shaving, that laser can increase hair growth in certain cases. Paradoxical hypertrichosis most often occurs on the face and neck for women, as well as the upper torso for men and individuals with hormonal imbalances. It’s more common than many realize, affecting up to 10% of laser clients, particularly those from ethnic backgrounds associated with darker and coarser hair. I wish someone had informed me about this earlier because, having started laser treatments at a young age, I’ve personally experienced hair growth on my back where I previously had very little. This has been a frustrating outcome, and I’m sharing this to ensure others don’t face the same situation unknowingly.
Making Informed Choices
As we navigate the complexities of LBHR, it’s essential to approach treatment with a well-informed perspective. While LBHR has proven to be a valuable option for many, understanding both its potential and limitations can empower individuals with PCOS to make the best decisions for their unique circumstances.
Education and Consultation
Before starting LBHR, thorough consultations with experienced clinicians are crucial. They can provide tailored advice based on individual hair types, skin tones, and specific needs. It’s also important to have open conversations about any concerns regarding paradoxical hypertrichosis and other potential side effects, especially how LBHR interacts with sun exposure and medications. This proactive approach ensures that you’re prepared for the process and can make necessary adjustments based on your body’s responses.
Realistic Expectations
Setting realistic expectations is key. While many individuals see significant improvements in hair density and texture, it’s essential to remember that each person’s experience can and will vary. Some may require fewer sessions, more sessions, or different settings to achieve their desired results. By acknowledging this variability, you can reduce the risk of frustration and disappointment as you embark on your hair reduction journey.
Holistic Approach to PCOS Management
Finally, it’s vital to view LBHR as part of a broader strategy for managing PCOS symptoms. Combining laser treatments with lifestyle changes and medical management can yield even more benefits. This holistic approach can help address not just excess hair growth but also other aspects of PCOS, such as hormonal imbalances and skin health.
While LBHR offers a promising solution for those grappling with the challenges of hirsutism due to PCOS, it’s crucial to remain educated, set realistic goals, and seek professional guidance. By doing so, you can navigate this journey with confidence, taking significant steps toward reclaiming your comfort and self-esteem. If, after following along, you decide that LBHR is not the right option for you, that’s completely understandable. The most important thing is having all the information needed to help you arrive at this conclusion.
Until next time, Luciana 🤍

Do you have any guesses as to why silver sunshine/bimetallic cats still retain so much pheomelanin? Are they just bred to look so red that it still remains despite the silver?
No, I don't think it's comes from breeding; i think sunshine was noticed specifically because of bimetals, before it was recognised as something different than the other wide bands. At that time there was unlikely to be any breeding toward reddish bimetal, since the ideal golden + silver doesn't have any remaining tarnish.
Probably sunshine has a different method of widening the bands? It's hard to answer when we still don't really know how either "regular golden" or silver works.
The only one we do know is sunshine.
Inhibitor clearly doesn't break the pheomelanin production pathway completely since red silvers have quite a lot pheomelanin, probably just decreases its amount, ideally to none. Maybe other wide band alleles straight up reduce the amount of pigments inteads of just manipulating (the molecule that manipulates) the eumelanin-pheomelanin switch, so it's easier to remove all the pheomelanin. Idk.
#ask and answer#wide band#inhibitor#to be fair it's not wrong to say bimetal is a kind of tarnishing
