ngl throwing danny phantom, a facsimile of the hero genre and practically a mockery of a coming of age story, at dc, one of the paragons of superhero stories that, while admittedly could be better written at times and is constantly retconning due to it’s dated past, is still a highly complex and admirable story, is goddamn hilarious. I’ll be the first to admit that i haven’t seen canon for either of them, but may the Fool help me, it is fucking hilarious that these two sides of the same coin are actually just a coin mint error where both sides are actually just the same person different portrait.

Bill Burr saying “ladies you’re 0-2 against this guy” referring to Trump is gross and unfunny for a number of reasons but mainly because he’s doing what a lot of men are evidently doing, and choosing to see reproductive freedom as a women’s issue, as opposed to an economic issue, a family issue, a healthcare issue that will impact everyone. I get that he’s trying to make light of a bad situation and he is anti-Trump, not trying to cancel the guy, because who cares, but just… do better?

hi!! 😊 i liked that christian was a major red herring. it was nice to be validated even though i was expecting it. i like christian but i think he is a little too similar to tabby to be interesting as a love interest. they are the male and female versions of each other 🤣

johnny deserved better. although i think he was a little too understanding with imogen at times, he knew she was going through it and i respect him for that. the way she demanded to see his texts and look at his search history was such a red flag. of course i get it in this context but irl that would not be okay. maybe imogen need to be single for a while.

i don’t like jen. i will never like jen. she’s manipulative and a liar. i will never excuse how she deflected and made noa the bad guy in the conversation where noa attempted to confront her about robbing shawn’s house. how their shippers ignore that problematic behavior is beyond me. i’m sad that she will be in season 3. at least i’m not alone in this as i’ve seen a lot of people complaining about this ship in the pll original sin instagram comments. i hope the writers hear our complaints. it has made noa my least favorite liar when i used to love her.

You are so right about Christian! I should have trusted my 2x01/2x02 gut that he was a red herring, but then I got so suspicious of the fact that no one was suspicious of him when they obviously should be. jksdhfksdf. I'm still baffled by how Tabby didn't think to put either Wes or Christian on their original suspect list, considering their love of horror and the masks stuff, but I'm just gonna have to learn to accept that. I'm glad Christian was good too, though. I never wanted him to be bad, just was very suspicious he might be. They definitely gave him some dialogue that pointed his way. But he was a good red herring! He worked until the finale when they started getting suspicious and then I knew it wasn't him.

I have said it once and I will say it again, Johnny is quite literally the chillest dude on the planet (😂 this will never stop being funny to me, I am sorry). I'm also glad that he's not bad because I think he's an enjoyable addition to the cast and I hope he is in next season (again, assuming they get a next season) because we still know almost nothing about him, so they could do a lot of fun things with his character. But I do think Imogen needs to take some time, regardless of the Johnny stuff (I mean, he really should NOT want to date her ever again because she nearly killed him??) because this was a mess. I also think all the girls (but particularly Imogen and Tabby) do still need mental healthcare, but obviously not with Dr. Sullivan.

Aaaaahhh, the Jen stuff. I just kept thinking there was going to be some sort of reveal/resolution that made the Jen stuff feel like it worked in the season and had a reason to be there. I had so many possible scenarios I was willing to accept. and yet, they managed to find one which was none of them??? I can't believe I sat through so much love triangle crap for literally no payout. I hate love triangles and the only redeeming quality is that they usually have a big blowout scene when it all comes out, but they didn't even give us that???? It will be interesting (assuming they get a season 3) to see if they respond to the criticism like they did with the Ezra thing, because a lot of people feel Noa's carelessness about the situation (and she was super, super manipulative towards Shawn throughout this, as well) ruined her character for them. Now, I think it's fine to tear a character down and need to build them back up, and I think it's good to see the Liars engage in flawed behavior, the problem I have here is... they (the show) have given no indication that they think they actually DID tear Noa's character down? Like, I am sorry, but her behavior was flat out cruel and she felt a tiny bit bad about it for like 2 seconds and faced absolutely 0 consequences, and that, not that she made some terrible decisions, is the real problem here. It's not "tearing a character down to build them back up" or even "giving a character flaws" if those things are never acknowledged as flaws and terrible behavior in the first place? Ugh. There was just so much potential with this storyline (literally so much!) and they just threw it all straight in the trash.

i have a lot of thoughts for far cry 6 (especially now that im replaying as male dani for my 2nd run) but every time i write them they always go incoherent real quick with my grievances for the game :/ maybe i'll just make a really generic list of stuff i noticed like how i did with fc4 because i still want to talk about the non-existent details i've pried with my bare hands as i do with all far cry games. but hmu if anyone wants to hear me rant about the whole thing 👉👈

AI HOSHINO AND HER RELATIONSHIP WITH HER MOTHER ;

ai hoshino never knew her father and only ever lived with her mother - this is a fact - it is also a fact that ai's mother was a thief and went to jail because of it, that she beat up ai, and that she tried to make her eat glass in her white rice.

her relationship with her mother was likely never, ever positive in the slightest. she looked at her mother as a person that she lived with and nothing more. there was no love, there was no joy. all there ever was was pain. we know that ai's education was on the lower side, so i suspect that her mother was not taking her to school, and didn't really care if she even got an education.

one of her first memories of her mother was when she tugged her by her jacket, ushering her to beg for money on the streets of japan. she was a small child, only barely old enough to walk on her own two feet. steps were still wobbly, she was shaky. her mother gave her lines to rehearse... ❝ if you say it like this then mommy will be able to get us dinner, okay ai ?? ❞

she smiled at her daughter, but there was nothing but a look of malice in her eyes. the child gives her lines as rehearsed to a few people, but then she fumbles her lines. the passerbys catch on.

her mother takes her anger out on her when they get back to the house. a tiny, tiny two bedroom apartment. littered with trash and smelled of grime. flies swarmed over piles of trash that were long discarded.

ai cries herself to sleep in her ( mainly empty ) bedroom that night.

her mother tells her she doesn't need her to come with her on the streets anymore, tells her that if she can't say what she needs to then she's useless.

ai didn't really want to do it anyway, so she'd take being useless over being a thief and a scammer.

once she's old enough to enter school, she wakes up in the wee hours of the morning, walking herself to school by herself before the sun comes up, and then she walks back home when it ends.

her mother isn't around as much, and the child prefers it that way. when she comes home she sounds weird, loopy... but she's even madder than usual.

ai quickly learns that she needs to lock herself in her room before she hears her mother trying to unlock the front door in a drunken stupor.

her mother gets arrested when she's eight years old, she doesn't think she can forget the way the service worker spoke to her ; a cold voice ❝ your mommy's going to be going away for awhile, so you're being taken someplace else. ❞

anywhere was better than here.

once her mothers sentence is served ai learns that she's been abandoned by her mother - and she spends the next few years at the children's home until scouted out by ichigo saitou, and becomes her de-facto guardian.

it isn't until b-komachi gained popularity again that ai's mother contacted her again. it was a single letter out of a large stack that the production company gathered for her that night.

the look of horror on her eyes when she read the words.

hi sweetie, its mommy !! so you're an idol now ?? i'm so proud of you, my sweet darling daughter... what do you say we meet up for lunch some time, catch up on the years gone by ?? i never meant to leave you at that children's home, you know. oh, and do you think you can spot mommy some cash ?? some things came up.... you know i love you so much, right... ai ??

her mother was a filthy liar, and it was blatant.

ai approaches the director, letter in hand and tells him ❝ director, could you make sure whoever sent this letter isn't allowed at another one of b-komachi's shows again ?? ❞ he tells her he'll try, but he can't guarantee it.

❝ if this woman is at another one of our shows i'll terminate my contract and work with another company instead. ❞

she's serious about this.

the next night is spent looking over security footage into the wee hours of the morning, and ai points out her mother in the crowd. she tears the letter to shreds and finally feels a moment of relief. with that taken care of, she wouldn't need to worry about her mother any more for the rest of her life...

Falsehoods

“I told you I’m fine,” the Inquisitor said from the other side of the door. 

Cullen narrowed his eyes at it, his arms crossed. 

“You did.”

“And it wasn’t even that bad. It just sounded bad because I’m…tired. That’s all.”

“Of course.”

A long, long pause. Cullen waited, peering at the door jamb and the smear of blood across the handle. 

“I do…I do need…maybe just a little help.” 

Her voice was defeated, but Cullen’s shoulders loosened in relief. They’d been on the road for a full hour after the skirmish. In that time, she’d said nothing about the wound taken across her back. They only knew anything had happened at all because she’d nearly fainted off her horse as they’d neared this town. Elowen had taken the proffered potion, had consented to share a saddle with Cullen so he could keep her upright, but when they’d actually reached the inn she’d turned stubborn. 

He supposed that his own stubbornness had, at last, paid off. 

“I’m coming in,” he told her, further smearing the blood on the handle when he pushed the door open. 

“It’s really not that bad,” she went on from behind the dressing screen, the words belied by the hiss she made a moment later, “It—it looks worse than it is, really.”

“You are a terrible liar,” he began, and stepped round the screen. 

The red templar she’d faced had wielded long, bladelike protrusions of red lyrium from its wrists. Cullen had seen it from a distance, too busy hacking at a behemoth on the other side of the clearing to offer her any aid. It had disappeared and reappeared over and over, and only the barrier she’d called up over her skin had prevented it from skewering her. At last, she’d called her spirit blade into existence and cleaved it in two, her form near-perfect, the move she’d used one that Cullen had taught her himself. He’d resolved to show his appreciation later, but he hadn’t realized—

Of course her opponent had scored its blows, and its blades had cut deep. Her back was in ribbons, despite the freshly-healed state of some of the wounds—owing, he was sure, to the healing potion Dorian had badgered her into drinking. 

“It’s worse than it looks,” she said again, but when she tried to turn and look at him she winced and faced the dressing table instead, “When I pulled off the tunic, it opened the wounds up again. That’s all. It’s—”

“Stop,” Cullen said quietly, and shed his gloves, “You don’t need to persuade me that you’re alright. I can see that you aren’t. Just—please. Let me help.” 

Elowen pressed a hand to her face and nodded silently. 

Cullen shed the rest of his armor onto a settee near the door, then returned to the supplies on the dressing table. There would be no getting around hurting her more in this; the goal was to minimize pain, not avoid it entirely. 

“This will sting,” he murmured. 

“I know,” she said, and her hands curled tightly around each other when he began to dab at the drying blood on her back. 

In a sense, she was right—it did look worse initially than it did after he cleaned it up. That it still looked awful afterward was…well. That was for both of them to bear in silence.

“How are you doing?” he asked after wringing the cloth out in the basin for the last time. She just shook her head, looking away from him. 

Maker, he hated this; he understood now why she’d been so upset at the Temple of Dumat. It was harder to see her hurt than it was to bear it himself. 

“Look at me,” he said, crouching beside her and setting one hand over hers, joined into one fist. She did at last, sniffing slightly, and he saw that her eyes were red-rimmed. 

“We’re almost done,” he said, “I am sorry.”

“Don’t,” she sucked in a breath, “Don’t apologize. You’re helping me even though it’s—I’m a fool. I should’ve told someone, done more than take the edge off. I should’ve—”

“Shh,” he said, and rose slightly to kiss her damp cheek, “I think you must be in enough pain already. You don’t need to add more.” 

Elowen nodded once, jerkily, and leaned forward to press her forehead to his. 

“I’m sorry I didn’t say anything.”

“You don’t need to apologize to me.”

“I’m sorry I lied.”

“Well,” Cullen said, “Fortunately for both of us, lying is one skill you have not yet mastered.”

Lavellan laughed, an uneven laugh, but lifted her head and pressed her lips to his forehead. 

“You should finish with the bandages,” she told him, uncurling her hands to take his in between them, “I can take it.”

“I know,” he said, and bent to press his lips to the knuckles of her hand, each kiss as full of the gentleness he wished he could offer her wounds, “Tell me if it hurts too much. Alright?”

“Yes,” Elowen said, and let go of his hands, “I will.”

“You promise?” he asked.

“I promise.”
