everyone jokes about how they'd be different if they were a vampire wizard immortal they wouldn't lose track of mortal life they'd be So Normal About It but in playing a single morrowind save for like a year now with a ton of mods im experiencing the strange growth of my characterization in it from powerless outsider with no home to wizard to becoming increasingly strange to maintain power and like
okay see i can just. you can't teleport infinitely but my alteration and vampire Jumps are so good i can just literally launch off and land anywhere in the world. space no longer matters to me. a 10 minute walk is now a 10 second jump.
vampirism means i'm immune to normal weapons and my stats are so dang high i can just stand there and even with MDMD and the 4nm PVP mod most things can't really hit me or hurt me and i have 100 ways to kill anything at will. i have so many limiting mods on to keep me from going Broken but i still have destruction 130 strength 140 stealth 150 and like it took me like a real life year of playing on and off to get that far so it feels Earned and there was a real sense of progression (excluding the vampire boost jump) but it's made me Strange power makes you Weird
and having such absolutely drunken insane power over mortal life really fucks with me doing the main quest for the first time in a decade where like
the erabenimsum are like "you'll... have to kill the warlike leaders of our tribe. we warn you they are very powerful" and i'm just like. what. you guys were my neighbors for a year at this point i could have just killed a bunch of you and changed your society in 30 seconds and you'd have let me yeah ok. hold on. brb. and i just kind of pop in and explode everyone and come back like yeah that was easy no worries.
and like i started this game deeply immersed, like taking everything slow eating different foods every day to satisfy my ashfall meters doing paintings of places i liked hanging out fishing and now i'm just this vampire Force of Will teleporting and flying and destroying things with a black-eyed glance and i'm playing with doors of oblivion and finding there is such a Bigger World out there like
i think the actual natural progression of this character is complete disassociation with the world and graduation from like ALL of this this fucker is piercing the Aurbis and just Leaving which you know is like
a distressingly resonant thematic with my own experiences and that i am playing this character as my 1:1 self insert like haha yeahthat. that. that hits a lot closer to home than i wanted it to. as above so below no matter how many onion layers huh.

design is heavily based on my old sonas
Physiology
(kinda - she's entirely made of ink, has no organs, nerves, blood, ...)
picks her form herself, changes it slightly every now and then to simulate getting older
maintaining details is difficult = no strands (ink for hair, naturally chunky eyelashes, ...), skin has little to no texture
body temperature is slightly warmer than a human's
not fully solid nor fully fluid
Two types of ink
one makes up her body = harder to manipulate (except moving), and requires more focus when changing it, has a default form
second is hair and everything else = can be manipulated easily and quickly
feels touch differently
can tell where and how she's being touched (pressure, temperature, ...), but it disperses throughout her whole form
this prevents her from getting overwhelmed
it's more for spatial awareness rather than experience

main power is ink manipulation
she can move it, amplify/reduce it, shape it, make it levitate, ...
since that's what she's made of, she can also fly and shapeshift herself

downside is extreme tunnel vision she gets when transformed, makes her ignore all her needs, energy depletion and injuries, and it causes extreme exhaustion afterwards
transforming when already tired is possible, but not ideal
Weaknesses pt. 1
immune to things that would hurt or limit an organic being (weapons, restraints, ...), can shapeshift around them
can't get thirsty, hungry nor sick
not immune to magic (spells, artifacts, curses, enchanted items, ...)
once she actually gets injured, she can mend herself - requires a lot of focus and energy
can't mend herself, healing magic of any sort is needed

biggest weakness is cold
her body can freeze and it becomes more difficult to move, until impossible
it becomes more fragile - can crack and "bleed" after unfreezing

if not injured, freezing + thawing is just unpleasant and not painful

can only create her form in greyscale, can't become colorful naturally
lack of color reflects in her feelings and behaviour, she becomes numb, tired and emotionless

I've been sick lately so I got too thinking.. how would the current ghouls and ghoulettes treat their S/O who's sick.

• He's going to make fun of you. A ghouls immune system is so much stronger than a humans. So he won't really understand what to do, but he gets an A for effort.
Dewdrop/Sodo
• You may have to straight up tell him what to do. He probably won't listen if you aren't right out with it.
• Though, when he does understand what he has to do, he is right by your side the whole time. He won't let you out of his sight. What if you suddenly feel worse and he's not there to sooth you?
• He gets a little (lot) protective over you. You're in a vulnerable state. Someone could hurt you. :(
• If you have the chills or are just cold, he will use his element to help you warm up. Just cuddle with him for a bit, and you'll start to feel better in no time.
• If you're worried about him getting sick, there's a high chance he'll laugh at you. He's a ghoul, baby. He won't get sick that easy. You don't have to worry about him.

• He's so helpful and so so sweet. He's got everything you may need. A damp cloth if you have a fever, a blanket if you have chills (and himself, of course), a bucket just in case, any type of meds you may need. He loves you and wants you to get better as soon as possible.
• Please cuddle with him so he knows you're not going anywhere. He fears that, because you're a human, you may get worse, and he's practically terrified at the thought of losing you.
• He may read to you if you ask nicely, especially if you like classic literature, then he may be persuaded. (I fucking love classic literature so now everyone had to suffer because of it.)
• He will also take you to the lake during the day when it's warm. You can relax in the water and get some sun, it's a win-win.
• All together, Rain is a sweetheart and will do anything and everything in his power to make sure you have a speedy and smooth recovery.

• If you end up puking he's the type of guy to pull you hair back (if it's long enough) and rub your back while telling you it's all going to be okay and you'll start to feel better soon.
• He almost likes knowing that you can get sick. It reminds him that you're a human and that no matter what, you always will be. He loves that about you, even if you're sick. He rarely ever gets sick, so it comforts him knowing that you do.

He understands and wants to help you with it. He can also, if you're okay with it, of course, because consent is key, bathe you. He doesn't want anything sexual to come from it, just you two spending some time together.
• He encourages you to nap/sleep more. You need your rest! He also just likes to nap with you, but that's not the point.
• And don't worry about your chores or anything. He's already spoken to Copia about your condition, so you have as much time as you'll need to recover.

• He gets Mountain to help him make a tea or something since he has no idea what to do. He can cook, kinda, but it's the idea that counts. He's trying his hardest for you.
• If you catch him searching up your symptoms on Google and then cuddling you and not leaving your side... no, you didn't.
• All together, he will be amazing towards you. Although there may be occasional teasing, he cares so much about you, you have him whipped for you.

• No hesitation on pulling your hair back and rubbing your back, holding you close to her. She doesn't give two fucks about if it's gross or not, as long as you're okay, nothing else matters. She will also bathe you. She likes pampering you, whether you're sick or not.
• Big on getting sun while you're sick, she will also give you those vitamins gummies to help your immune system. If you're up for it, you two will sun bathe. Just you two and the sun, a relaxing afternoon to help take your mind off your current state.
• She will help you with your chores, but she also believes in exercise while you're sick to help your body, even if it's just doing your chores.
• Lots of sleeping with her, she's so comfortable. She also loves to just hold you close to her so she knows you're doing okay, so if you're sick and she suddenly pulls you away for a cuddle session, don't be surprised.
• Will do night in with you when you're sick, except they're modified. So you two will have soup and movies while doing facemasks and makeovers with you. She's so sweet, she loves you.

• If you want to get out and get some fresh air, she's all for it. You two could be out getting groceries or just out in the forest relaxing in the cool grass. She loves being outside, and if you feel good enough, you bet most of your time will be spent outdoors.
• I feel like she's a big cat lover, so you two will be down at a cat cafe or just hanging out with strays around the church. You both get to be outside, and you get to see a bunch of cute cats, win-win!
• Please watch movies with her, she knows you need some rest and relaxing time, and what better way to relax than to watch some movies with her?

• If you want to do something, she's down for it, but she won't let you be out too long when you're sick. She doesn't want you to get worse just when you're starting to feel better.
• But don't you worry, she has plenty of ways that she can help you feel better. Most of these consist of sleeping and relaxing. But that's okay, you need it.
• She will do arts and crafts with you. It may sound childish, but you're sick and don't really want to do anything, so what better way to do something that's not too hard than arts and crafts. Glitter jars, painting, bracelet making, making a time capsule. She's down for it.
• Please let her pamper you. She needs to do it, it'll help you feel better because you won't have to do anything. She has everything taken care of, your chores, your nausea, fever, chills, and everything is taken care of.

Round 7, Day 2 - Pretender versus Gunner versus Avenger
A lone figure walked through the forest, idly looking around before his eyes fell on a figure-- the de-facto ruler of this part of the map. The Gunner smirked, hand resting on a hidden pocket, ready to draw weapons.
"And there he is, the Servant of the hour. How about we put on a show? You seem like the type that'll like that."
"Maybe-- but we're not alone."
A moment passed, as the Pretender jumped out of the way, narrowly dodging a flaming sword that ripped through one of the trees.
"Wow. would you look at that? Avenger finally shuffled out of his dusty little hole. Did you finally remember there was a Grail War going on?"
"Joke all you like, you cannot stall me. Now, behold the all-consuming flames of an Avenger!"
The Avenger swung his dark blade, black flames striking at the dense woods around them. Of course, when flame hits kindling, the sparks quickly lead to calamity. The quiet forest erupted into flames, the sparks backlighting the ghastly grin of the Avenger, and the amused smirk of the Gunner.
The Pretender frowned.
"Oho? Am I seeing a spark in your eyes, Pretender? We haven't spoken much, but you seemed rather unflappable before. And you, Gunner... let this serve as my formal introduction! Hahahaha!"
"Look at that! Ladies and gentlemen, keep your eyes peeled! It seems like this fight is going to be pretty interesting!"
"...Yeah, alright. Let's rumble!"
Pretender has 1 wound! 2 more and he'll be defeated!
Gunner has 1 wound! 2 more and he'll be defeated!
Due to Avenger's Defensive Play choices, Avenger gains a +1% bonus to Free-for-All's!

Servant Skills:
Oberon (Pretender)
Evening Shroud (EX Rank) - In the cover of night, even the most unconfident warriors can at least feign greatness. When engaged in a Free-for-All, gain a +3% boost.
Morning Lark (EX Rank) - As morning comes, as does a boost in morale. Demerits against Oberon are reduced in effectiveness by 3%, and he gains a +3% boost in one-on-one battles.
A Midsummer Night's Dream (EX Rank): Rather than just reducing the effectiveness of Servant-imposed demerits, he is immune to them entirely.
PRETENDER-CLASS Servants possess an inherent trickster nature. If they fall in last place during a Free-for-All, if there is a gap of 3% within their final score and that of the Servant in 2nd place, they can evade taking a wound. Additionally, if they're victorious against other Servants, other teams cannot attempt to study the Pretender in order to gain a percentage bonus against them.
Takasugi Shinsaku (Gunner)
Unconventional Child Prodigy (A Rank): When fighting someone with a higher boost than Gunner, gain +2%.
Innovate - Armaments Reformation (B Rank): Defeating a Servant once will net special 'components' from them. When at least 4 of those 'components' are gathered, a secondary Noble Phantasm will be unlocked. If 6 are gathered, then the utility and power of 'Kiheitai' will be upgraded.
Current Components: N/A
(Winning first place in a Free-for-All will count for gathering 2 components- one for each Servant beneath you).
Retaining the Japanese Spirit (A Rank): When Gunner is about to take a fatal blow and the difference between scores is less than 5%, survive with one 'health' remaining. If this is triggered, gain a persistent +2% bonus that cannot be reduced or removed.
GUNNER-Class Servants are quick to action and yet methodical with their attacks. When engaged in combat, gain a +3% boost. Additionally, if in last place during a Free-for-All, inflict a -4% demerit on the 1st place Servant.
The Count of Monte Cristo (Avenger)
Determination of Steel (EX Rank): If Avenger is about to take a fatal wound, if there's at least a 3% difference in their score and the victor above him, he may avoid damage. When facing a single-target (1-on-1), he will gain a +3% boost.
Monte Cristo Mythologie: The King of the Cavern (C Rank): When battling enemies, his flames are like a poison. He reduces demerits against him by 3%, and when he is victorious against another, he inflicts a -2% demerit for their next round. This demerit increases by 2% by every 10% difference in scores.
Wisdom of Predicament (A Rank): When engaged in a Free-for-All, gain a +3% boost. Additionally, if Avenger earns last place, both the victor and the 2nd place Servant gain a -2% demerit, rather than simply the 2nd place Servant.
AVENGER-CLASS Servants are vengeful by nature. The first time they are defeated by a Servant, they gain an automatic +2% bonus against that specific Servant, without needing to study them (but can in order to increase the bonus). They gain a permanent +3% bonus per wound they attain that will remain if the wound remains, but will disappear if the wound is healed.

idea is simple, this character had a dragon's core magically implanted into them at birth, this would end up giving them enough power as is but they also had a genetic trait that would increase their growth even further. the only downside is they lack the flashy magic of wizards and witches instead they are simply made better physically and mentally by the powers coursing through their veins.
some fun uses for the character are Xander harris: changed at birth to be the ultimate weapon for some demon or other before they were killed by a greater demon without ever explaining what they were planning. xander grows up with absolutely no idea of his abilities but hyperactivity and a general sense that something strange was happening around him. when jessie turns xander uses his abilities for the first time. worried that he'll be exorsized or something he keeps his abilities hidden from the scoobies and tries to help buffy kill vampires in secret. obviously his friends realize something is up when the hyena spirt possesses him but hey thems the breaks
greg vader: the result of a bio tinker playing god greg has no intention of hiding his abilities he does however see hero work as a game since only the top tiers are a threat to him. obviously he'll need to train up some assistants though, what kind of criminal mastermind doesn't have minions? (spoilers his golden retriever puppy like nature means he ends up being a hero who robs from villains but it's about the aesthetic man!) danny phantom villain: like danny is a human with a ghost core this villain is a human with a dragon core, both are considered kings in their respective parts of the infinite realms. their battle is hyped up for a long time but in reality they both tend to not care too much about the title and grow to be pretty good friends and allies. right up until they start fighting over teenaged boy nonsense and it becomes a problem for everyone.
yang: yang has grown up knowing that she was different but frankly it's never mattered to her too much, it just meant that she could protect her little sister better when grim came, unfortunately, she didn't know that the Arc family were known for their legendary ability to calm dragons with their presence. and she's now constantly seeking out the local blonde noodle because he's "pretty chill" leading to her getting involved in his faked transcripts and jnpr being dragged along with rwby for more adventures.

the basic idea is that whatever character you give this power set too is inevitably going to become the physically strongest in the world via their dragon core and laplace factor just growing their raw power, it will accelerate if the person trains their mana to exhaustion because the dragon core will refill in an hour and their laplace factor will increase their overall pool meaning that in just 8 hours or so they could have an 8 fold growth rate, and even if they don't train their powers will simply grow forever.
the trade off is that they're limited to only physical power, sure they can ignore powerful abilities and esoteric bullshit but they themselves are limited to melee combat meaning that if you pick out an anti-dragon weapon like say Ascolon the Sword of Saint George or anything the Dragonborn can bring to bear this character doesn't really have an option. dragon slayers or tamers are their kryptonite.
@heliosthegriffin @howlingday @weatherman667 how would you guys use their sort of character? i'd probably make them more of a background character or something like sid from the eminence in Shadow. their raw power can't be beat but the trade-off is their sort of goofy about everything and it's their desire to be entertained that leads to them holding back or pretending to be something else. if I was writing the character as xander from the buffy verse I would instead focus on the character interactions and mystery around them at first, then the way the universe has to bend around this new power as xander just wants to go back to being a no body because he's scared he'll abuse his powers. maybe some angst about him being a magically engineered weapon rather than a human like he thought he was.

So I have way more to say on this than would fit in a comment/reply.
In short: 1) Yes and no. 2) Largely more of the same.
Magical strength varies a lot between individuals, so one person's "fully charged" performance is not necessarily the same as another's. But in general a well-rested healer would expect to be able to fix many life-threatening wounds in a day.
Different types of injury consume different amounts of magic, broadly proportional to the amount of tissue damage. Burns take shedloads of magic, clean cuts take very little.
Numbing is quite expensive, especially if it's meant to last after the healer stops actively doing it. Forcing the body to regenerate cells, like making more blood, is possible but very expensive. No one is strong enough to regenerate an entire body part. Killing infection/disease isn't really possible, but it is possible to boost the immune system to help tackle it.
Healing magic mostly replicates what natural healing can do -- just faster and with the magic supplying the energy instead of the patient's metabolism.
An untrained healer can just kinda push magic into a body and trust the injured parts to soak it up. This is kinda inefficient, and the results will be similar to if the body had healed naturally over time -- including the potential for things to heal poorly or weirdly.
A skilled healer can direct their magic more precisely and efficiently. If they're really good they can direct the injured tissues to heal in the correct order and manner to get better results than natural healing -- ie minimal/no scarring. This doesn't really cost more energy, but it does require more focus and precision.
As for recovering power...
Magic kind of "pools" in a magic user, building up over time to a maximum capacity. In general if someone completely empties the pool, it takes a few days to a couple of weeks to refill. Being completely empty feels kinda unpleasant and empty and makes a warlock cold, but it doesn't hurt and isn't harmful.
Trying to cast while empty feels very unpleasant.
The human soul/life force/whatever you want to call it is made of the same fundamental stuff as magical energy. In extremis, magic users can "cast from HP" using their own life force. This is similarly unpleasant to physically exerting yourself hard enough to injure yourself -- it hurts, it feels wrong, it's hard to force yourself to do it.
The symptoms of severe magical exhaustion (hypothermia, bleeding, eventual death) come from expending this life force.
Most magic users don't know how to do this / can't force themselves to. Desperate situations like fighting to save a loved one bring it out.
The process of "breaking in" a kept healer involves hurting them so much that they learn to overextend regularly to avoid the worse pain of being whipped within an inch of their lives.
Overextending a lot and repeatedly kind of damages the barrier between the normal pool of spendable magic and the life force. It's not totally clear whether this is primarily a psychological problem or something physical/metaphysical.
But ex-kept-healers tend to end up spending some of their life force when they cast even if they aren't out of magic yet, and to have trouble telling exactly when they are out of magic.
This also means that they seem to regenerate their magic slower / have a lower max capacity, because regenerating life force is slower and less effective than regenerating free magic.
It's also very bad for their physical health, particularly for the lungs.
Chronic magical exhaustion does get better with time, but usually not completely.
Crucially recovery requires rest of the magic. Not using any magic, or only tiny amounts, for months, can make a lot of difference. Whereas if the magic isn't rested, even if it isn't really overextended either, recovery can be quite minimal even years later.
