Why Is picking a name for a custom oc class so hrad..... I need yalls help if you care to share.

#detective conan#case closed#amv#my amvs#eye strain#heiji hattori#harley hartwell#conan edogawa#shinichi kudo#funimation english dub script#video#happy two-year anniversary to 'no thoughts just heiji hattori'!#while it's not my first amv (it's maybe my... fifth?)#it was the first one i made with davinci resolve and the amv that really got me into editing amvs for real#it's the amv that made me believe i could make amvs 🥺#and in remastering it i deeply understood how ambitious it was! i thought i did a lot of audio mixing for 'messed up'#but that's not even close to all the audio mixing i did here--cannot believe that i did all this for my first big amv project#it took about 20 hours *just* to remaster!#which is something i've been meaning to do for a while now so i'm very happy to finally share the results!#to make this a 'remaster' and not a 'redo' the only changes i tried to make were to the source footage and audio#video now uses almost entirely hd remastered footage from my blu-rays or netflix rather than my dvds#but oh gosh was it *hard* not to touch anything else! i'd do so many things differently now#but this video will always be really special to me (and i can't believe i did it at all tbh!)#i hope seeing it in hd is fun too! i'm so blown away by all the love this vid's gotten#and that it helped increase interest in funi's old english dub is amazing and 100% what i was trying to do with it!#thank you everyone for all the support <333 i wouldn't be the video editor i am today without this vid or your encouragement for it <3333#like the original the sources used are mostly from what funi dubbed (but mixed in hd by me!): eps 48-49 57-58 77-78 117 and 118 and movie 3#but i also used episodes 141-142 174 189 239 263 277 291 293 345 479 491 517 and 522#and ova 3 and tv special 6 (episode one) and movies 10 and 13 and ops 27 31 and 33 and the funi 5.2 dvd blooper for the one line lol#the song is 'you're stupid aren't you' by toshio masuda (from jubei-chan 2)

I did do it! 13 whole digital start-to-finish panels.....woaw......#Definitely the biggest of these anniversary projects thus far hehe <3 But I really wanted to see if I could do it and I did it! I'm happy :D#Inspired by many on this one ahh - the obvious being they ♥ As ever I still hold them so dearly love them so much <3#The second inspiration source is probably also obvious lol but I've been using a newer-to-me technique to sketch to try and speed up drawing#Specifically inspired from watching Zarla's Handplates speeddraw videos! I'm still a little shaky with it haha#I fell back into my old habits more than once :P But now I understand what over-rendering a sketch means lol - knowledge!#And all-told I think this is probably the longest digital comic I've made in uhhhhhh - at least years#I don't wanna say ever because it still is only 13 panels and two of those share a frame haha but like! That's still a lot for me these days#So I'm pleased for being able to make it in short order! It was fun! I had a good time with it! :D And I think it turned out nice!!#And then the last inspiration source this time around was smol hehe ♪ Despite us both being grown I still tuck her in#It's just something neither of us grew out of haha - it's nice! Another point in us being very Sans and Papyrus lol#But I wanted to give it to the Vargases this time because - eee - smol's turning the age I was when I first read Vargas this year#Obviously my family knows about Vargas as I Will Not Shut Up About It lol but I'm still the only one to have read it#Partially because of how intense and scary it can be! look, I'm gonna be real, a lot of responses to my post about Lucanis and how he doesn't at all have any conflict in himself over being a killer for hire that are arguing that, well, we don't KNOW that because the game doesn't delve into it and MAYBE he might if he unpacked his childhood trauma right now or was given a choice earlier in life or was trained differently or hated Caterina or something else really are all just "what if the world was made of pudding". folks, I'm trying to reckon with the character as written.
#Also the game does delve into it. Lucanis literally discusses it with Emmrich and Davrin minimum.#I'm considering writing an addendum or a different post bc so many people are doing this on that post#I really am just not interested in “all interpretations are equally valid” I've got too many degrees in media for this.#All interpretations are valid SO LONG AS they have a basis in the text presented.#You can't project things or go “well if it was different” and call it valid. That's not how it works.#DATV things#I'm just currently at an IHOP or I'd be writing the post now lmao

#i want to get to work on secsam SO BAD but the hard part about working on a comic is that it's dangerous to get started without knowing#how it ends and how i want the pacing to happen throughout#so like i think i have the first half basically but if i can't fit the second half in a reasonable amount of pages i might have to reduce#the first half#and it would be a bad use to time to get going on what i have and then throw some or all of it out#if this was an open ended project i owuldn't care but like... i've only got so much time#i can only make so many pages#and i just don't know howwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww i want this second part to go#but the first part isn't enough of a story on its own and i'm PUMPED about the second part#like i've wanted to do the second part basically for years except i only ever thought through the set-up for it#nooooo clue what to do after that#like i know the themes i want but i'm so god-awful at coming up with scenarios#like NEW scenarios? without existing conflict to build off of??#but i specifically want to set up an AU where the canon conflict doesn't come up so what... do i do now#sorry yelling into the void because it's easier than trying to talk to people who might actually help me hahahaha#augh maybe i should just try to figure out something else entirely for the second half...i want to do it really bad but#if i can't figure out what the whole “it” is beyond the initial concept then maybe it can't be done

My latest patch! Shoutout to NavyWolf from my twitch chat for stringing words together in a phrase that stuck with me long enough for me to make this out of it!
More chatter and some progress pics under the cut :)
If you are wondering what this is the best explanation I can give is during last February I decided I wanted to do a swear jar thing on stream and during some on stream planning this phrase was said in chat. Somehow it just evoked such a powerful mental image for me that I had to make it something real. And reflecting on that, I feel like a lot of the art I make is over that exact same reason.
With how busy school had been I didn't actually start work on this patch till the end of March, where I dusted off my pixel art skills for the pattern.

After the pattern was finished up I basically just spent every moment of my free time (and some time I should've used for school work) working on the patch. I don't know why I was in such a rush since my own self imposed deadline could've stretched to basically next February, however my new sweater doesn't have any patches on it so I guess I wanted something for it as soon as I could.
I don't have much else to say about the process, it was fairly straightforward as far as patches go. I did find a nifty little website that includes colour picking with actual DMC or Anchor thread colours. I'll probably be using it from here on out for planning, although knowing me I will still be going back and forth between that and my phone's shitty little pixel art app.
And the progress gif!
Amazingly this one has more individual photos in it than the minecraft patch, but I think that's mostly the text cause I had an idea for how I wanted it to look in this gif once it was all done anyway.
And here it is in it's place of honour, same spot as the minecraft patch on my other sweater if you were curious:

Mostly to do with the order of colours#and especially the process of adding the text. Maybe I am just watching too many short form videos about embroidery#anyway as always with these projects it makes me want to make more of them.#I've got some free time now so I'm sure I'll have something else to work on soon
