Sorry, I know you've sort of answered this before, so you don't have to answer again if you don't have anything more to add, but how do you pick your particularly bright color schemes? Your latest piece, and several of your past pieces of Shuichi or/or Kokichi feature these gloriously bright neon colors that would probably be right at home in a cyberpunk cityscape, but they still don't feel overly eye bleeding, just particularly striking.
Your art reminds me of a similar thing I've noticed with Splatoon's artsyle, where it feels very bright and colorful without becoming overwhelming.
Longwinded way to say "how do you construct a piece to look good with neon colors without veering into eyeball stabbing territory"
BIG disclaimer that i haven't read much about color theory, so a lot of this is purely anecdotal, as usual
for me, i think it comes down to managing contrast in your hues and value/luminosity  for example, this draw feels like there's a lot of neon blue, red, and lilac, but in actuality, these colors aren't very saturated (blue/lilac), or if they are, they're toned down in value (red). it's the placement next to areas of darker value that make them appear really bright or more eye-popping:
Tumblr media
can't speak for the sploon art, but i feel like you can control eyestrain by making things appear brighter than they are via managing contrast... it's not actually super neon, but it feels that way! contrast makes things easier to "read," and your perception of color is influenced by the colors next to it (see: white/gold blue/black dress lol). check values as you go, consider how hues complement/oppose, think about contrast and where you want a picture to feel punchy... hope that helps...!!

hi. mentally ill about soren and claudia. the siblings in tdp all make me insane but soren and claudia are so. viren's daughter claudia and her brother soren (he doesn't like soren). the fact that at first claudia seems like the nice one but soren questions when he's doing the wrong thing and claudia digs herself deeper every chance she gets. that one scene where to protect ezran (?) (it's been a while since i watched this bit) he threatens claudia and she just looks so heartbroken and determined. they both do. because they still do care so so much about each other, it's just that they've taken such different paths and neither of them is willing to bend, not even for the other. <- not normal
OMG A TDP ASK FOR ME??????????????
Who doesn't love Soren and Claudia.
Like, Soren was willing to kill his father in the name of what was right, and Claudia was willing to bring her father back from the dead ignoring what was right ("I did things...I never imagined I would be able to do"). Claudia in s2 wants to "use [her] words not [her] muscles" but when it comes down to it, she's always going to use the strength dark magic gives her to get what she wants, and Soren has since learned that forgiveness and friendship are powerful things. Claudia has only distanced herself from the personhood of the creatures/people around her further and further (which is part of the danger of dark magic), while Soren has only become more and more aware of it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Soren would jump headfirst into the sea in heavy armor to save an innocent baitling, whereas Claudia would try and squeeze her former friends to death for the sake of her goal. They both have a completely different understanding of the value of life, at all different levels, with Viren learning that value later:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And I think Soren learning to value life more and more over the course of his arc 1 er, arc, only adds to the fact that he's willing to kill his father at the end of s3.
Had Soren been down in the ocean with the rest of the gang in 5x09, I think he wouldn't have hesitated in killing Claudia either, despite how much he cares about her.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
While Claudia's followed the dark path of her father ("Daddy look! I'm following in your footsteps!") Soren's been trying to walk a different path. To follow Ezran and his efforts for a brighter future.
I just think they're neat!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(For context, these scenes take place right after one another. Soren staying on the surface to look after their creature friends VS Claudia who sinks bellow to the ocean floor using the corpse of a pentapus)
Bonus "My eyes for truth" and seeing personhood comp:

No because it’s absolutely suffocating to have as many interests as I do…people are like “Oh you don’t know what you want to study yet? That’s okay!” NO. I have TOO MANY ideas of what I want to study. Marine biology? Yes. Criminology? Also yes. Humanities? God can’t save me. Psychology? I suppose I’ll just have to save myself then. Literature? Indubitably. Art history? How does this Renaissance painting portray the exact same feeling I’m having almost 700 years later? Law? What, like it’s hard?

How does one convince an Olm that it’s okay to come out and see the light?

If Osiris WASNT rezzed as a warlock, do you think he'd be a
Hunter, because of his disregard for rules (or the speakers rules at least lmfao)
Or a Titan because of his innate desire to protect?
I actually can't imagine Osiris as anything other than a Warlock, tbh! The main reason for this isn't because of his personality, or how he interacts with the world around him, but moreso because of how he tapped into (or used to tap into) his Light. I can't remember if we ever get much lore on how binding classes are, but for me I personally interpret them as how an individual weilds their Light over most everything else, with other traits correlated with it falling into common patterns. Hunters are those who are wild to the core and use their Light as an instinctual reaction to the world around them, Titans weild theirs like a tool or a weapon, to be drawn and used as necessary, and Warlocks have an innate urge to understand it, refine it through study, and then use it as a lens to which they can understand everything else. These different ways of tapping into the Light tend to be used by different types of people, leading to the specific stereotypes about each class, but that's a secondary effect
Which is basically a long way of saying that Osiris is way too civilized to be a Hunter and far too detail-oriented to be a Titan XD He's the quintessential warlock in that he used his Light (and now the Darkness, via Strand) as a means to which he could understand the secrets of the universe, which he in turn used to fight his foes just as much as he used the Light itself. Even with Strand, he had to study it extensively first before tapping into it, and then he went right into trying to learn everything he could about it- compare that to the Hunter from that one loretab where they use Strand to leap off buildings and swing through the air and revel in the feeling of being alive and free, not thinking so much about what it was as much as how it felt to use it. It's not about Osiris being free-willed or protective as much as it is about how he interacts with paracausal powers

— MORAL ALIGNMENT
Tumblr media
true neutral
True Neutral people believe in the ultimate balance of forces, and they refuse to see actions as either good or evil. True Neutral individuals do their best to avoid siding too strongly with any one force, whether that force is good or evil, lawful or chaotic. For this reason, True Neutral personalities sometimes find themselves drawn into rather peculiar alliances, friendships, and life paths. To a great extent, they side with the underdog, sometimes even changing sides as the previous loser becomes the winner. Such people often see good, evil, chaos, and laws as simply prejudices that lead to dangerous extremes. Like the Taoist masters of ancient China, they tend to believe that the universe functions best when the light and the dark, the yin and the yang, are in balance.

SALTEEEEDDDD FIFTEEEENNN do you have any tips for dramatic lighting 🥺 like strong contrast between light n dark
[puts you in a room with my art teacher] have fun bestie /lhj
In all seriousness, it comes down to different factors- how big your light source is, how intense it is, and where it is in relation to the object it is affecting. Lemme sketch something up real quick because it's hard to use words sometimes so uuhhhhh
Tumblr media
bal
After doing this I realize this isn't a great example. But! I can use my mistake from this to actually explain it better: I didn't make the background dark enough. It being a mid-gray is indicative of a general broad light source additional to the small one, like what most drawings are in. Like a room with its lights off- it's not pitch-black, you can still see, but not in complete clarity. There's usually light coming from the windows or something. But making the background darkerActually Wait Holdon Lemme Try Something
Tumblr media
bal TWO
Dramatic lighting comes from a very dark space with a strong light source, usually. I'm losing my words so I explaining this further might be a bit confusing. But when it comes to applying a light source like this it tends to be easier to start out with a dark color palette- there's hardly any midtones because there's a higher contrast. So just put a dark multiply layer over your colors in the opposite color of your light source, and then do lighting on an add/screen layer. I so badly want to explain why this is but I do not know how dsjhgslkfhgkdjfgh
hope this helped !!! ask me any more questions if you're confused :]

Very fun thought experiment, though thinking on this has led me down a rabbit hole I didn't fully intend.
You see I think there is a lot of truth in this, but as a storyteller and performer this also scratches at one of the reasons why I'm so drawn to ttrpgs (beyond the very important gaming with friends aspect of course). These games are a tool to explore facets of oneself. Not every character is going to explore the same facets, but every character has you at the core of it. So yes, there will be recurring themes, leitmotifs that emerge naturally, and yes those are reflections of who you are as a person and the experiences you've had.
However, not quite in contrast, but perhaps complementary to the exploration of self, ttrpgs are also a tool to build empathy, to see how under the right circumstances you might make choices that would be totally outside of your consideration in your day to day life.
Depending on the game, you might play the morally grey character or maybe even someone truly reprehensible. That doesn't mean you are bad, but it does let you ask the question, "What circumstances have led this character down this path?" It's a reminder that we as humans have the capacity for both good and bad in us and that extreme circumstances lead to extreme reactions. In this fictional safe space, we can explore the heights and depths of the human experience and recognize that possibility in ourselves.
So one thing I’ve noticed is that people’s DnD characters may vary but there is usually an underlying thread that they all have in common. This thread is typically related to what that person struggles with the most.
For instance, my betrotheds DnD characters: a bitchy warlock we had to bust out of two different pacts, a sassy barbarian, a reformed drow cultist, and a sunshine fighter cleric.
All these characters were wildly different but at their very core struggle was them grappling with their self worth. My betrothed struggles with their worth a great deal and even with different facets showing their characters all have that too.
Mine all tend to contend with different themes of loneliness and acceptance. Surprise, surprise, the little autistic gremlin yearns to have been met with more love and lasting friendships.
So we’re at breakfast. I am meeting a new friend of my betrotheds for the first time. It’s been twenty minutes since I’ve met this man. I say my theory. He laughs. He starts to describe a few of his characters but specifies that he often has healing aspects. He gives a very broad overview of their character arcs.
I ponder for a moment then said, “Would you like to have my assessment?”
He laughed, “Sure!”
“We’ve just met. It’s gonna get real.”
“Bring it on.”
“I think your struggle is that you feel you must offer something of value or service to people to be worthy of their love.”
His jaw dropped. His fork froze midway to his mouth. A potato fell. He stared into space as this sank in. Quietly he said, “Oh.”
