I haven’t done a big digital drawing in a while, so I decided to do this one of some of my favourite plushies that I have at home. If anyone’s curious about what companies they’re from or maybe where I got them (for example, Punky is from 1988 and by the brand Applause and I bought him online. I think people overestimate how feminist team black is. If someone brings up how Baela should be the heir to Driftmark, it's always "she would've been Queen if not for the Greens!", ignoring that 1, she would be Queen consort, not a Queen in her own right, and 2 she has a legitimate claim in her own right to Driftmark. Team Black's goal is to crown Rhaenyra, but Rhaenyra becoming Queen isn't a win for feminism because it does nothing to dismantle the rest of the patriarchal system that exists in Westeros. From what we've gotten so far, it reads that Rhaenyra wants to be the exception and not the rule. Rhaenyra has made a lot of bad political decisions, which means she can't acknowledge Baela's claim because it would weaken her own claim (blatantly admitting her eldest sons are illegitimate would not end well for her to say the least). So she betrothes Jace and Luke to Baela and Rhaena to kind of atone for that, like as a consolation prize Baela will be Queen and Rhaena will be lady of Driftmark, neither of them would hold either title in their own right. It's good matches because the kids like each other and will treat each other well, but it's not a feminist win or a feministic liberation. It's usurpation, usurpation that takes place because Rhaenyra has to do damage control after having illegitimate children and after a serious of bad political decisions (both hers and her fathers, Viserys is the arbiter of this entire mess). To me, Rhaenyra is very reminiscent of Mary Queen of Scots, I can see a lot of elements drawn from Mary's history in Rhaenyra's story and character, down to their sons eventually taking the crown they failed to claim/keep.

also it really is shit how several popular bloggers were like. Horribly bigoted towards ace people when it was cool, but once it stopped being trendy they 1) deleted those posts so receipts couldn't be pulled 2) maybe put up claimed "redactions" or said "omg its been years if you really wanna know wether i still hate those people dm me" but never apologized for their behavior lmao. I don't think any of the people who did that actually changed, I just think they know it's not such an acceptable/fun target to bully anymore. It's really sick how that type of bullying was encouraged for years and how few people repented for their behavior.

I'm watching the episode where Dorothy has a lesbian friend and asks Sofia "how would you react if you were told one of your kids was gay" 😭 literally "I am definitely not a lesbian but random question just wondering how would you react if I was haha?"

Aaa omg I was watching this episode the other day and I have so many thoughts about Sophia & Dorothy in that (+ some other) scenes!! You're so right anon, it's an amazing moment 😂 and I spent waaaay too much time overthinking Sophia specifically in this! I hope you don't mind me rambling too much but:

The bed scene!!! The bed scene!! Dorothy seems very concerned about Jean having feelings for Rose — so much so that she needs to know Sophia's reaction to her kids' hypothetical queerness to be somewhat comforted. Her own line of questioning, and the way she stays quiet for a while as Sophia assumes it's Dorothy who's queer, says a lot already. Obviously, and as you pointed out! I mean, she let Sophia go on for quite a while there before finally stating she's not gay. But Sophia's reaction says a lot too!

Sophia reacts dismissively at first. She jokes, she mocks a bit, she tells Dorothy to "stick with what she knows" because she assumes this to be the truth. This is Dorothy coming out to her — and Sophia's never been able to cope with an emotional situation without mocking it at least a little. Then, when she thinks Dorothy isn't telling the truth (or Dorothy pretends not to be; let's assume here that Sophia does think Dorothy might be queer and is simply playing along. She's made so many jokes about it at that point already, you can safely assume she suspects something at the very least) she suddenly switches gears to a very earnest reaction instead. Dorothy is comforted by this, but the moment she reacts earnestly to Sophia's reaction, Sophia snaps back into her dismissal.

So I guess what I'm trying to say here is: you could read this as Sophia's very very disguised acknowledgement to the fact that she knows Dorothy might be queer. Sophia dismisses any sort of genuine emotional moment, and seems to be able to express her own genuine feelings only when Dorothy dismisses the moment for her ("I'm not gay"). She snaps back into dismissal the moment Dorothy shows a genuine reaction to her open acceptance again, but it's interesting to note the momentary shift in her reaction after Dorothy denies being gay!

y’all get so mad like i’m attacking the characters or the story or something, i genuinely have no problem with the storyline/relationship playing out however it may, because it’s actually just a show and i’m okay if it doesn’t turn out the way i want it to.

i like to try and figure out what symbolism means in shows and why writers and directors made the choices they did, i’m really sorry if that offends you.
