𝗦𝗜𝗠 𝗝𝗔𝗘𝗬𝗨𝗡 "angel, are you trying to kill me?" jake breathes out, eyes wide as they rake over your face, his fingers lifting to adjust the frames on your nose. “seriously, this? this should be illegal,” he mutters, his lips quirking into that signature smirk, but the way his ears flush gives him away. “jake, they’re just glasses—” you start, only for him to cut you off, pulling you closer by the waist. “just glasses? no, no, these are weapons of mass destruction, pretty girl,” he teases, leaning in till your noses almost touch. “honestly, how am i supposed to focus when you look this good? it’s distracting,” he murmurs, his thumb brushing your cheek. when you swat at him, laughing, he just grins wider. “what? you want me to not tell my stunning girlfriend how perfect she is? sorry, can’t do that.”

𝗣𝗔𝗥𝗞 𝗦𝗨𝗡𝗚𝗛𝗢𝗢𝗡 it takes sunghoon a solid five minutes to notice, and even then, it’s only because you catch him squinting at you. “wait—hold on,” he starts, leaning closer, his head tilting slightly as his dark eyes narrow. “are you wearing… glasses?” he finally asks, blinking like he’s just uncovered the world’s biggest mystery. you roll your eyes, crossing your arms. “wow, observant as ever, park sunghoon.” his lips curl into that boyish smile, the one that makes your heart trip over itself, as he reaches out to tug you closer by the wrist. “i mean, give me a break, princess. i was distracted by your face—glasses or not, it’s kind of unfair how good you look,” he teases, his voice soft but teasing as his fingers brush along the side of your face.

"i knew these frames were the one, but i didn't know they'd make me fall in love with you all over again." “don’t look at me like that,” you mumble, your own face heating up, but he just grins, leaning his forehead against yours. “like what? like you’re the most beautiful person i’ve ever seen?” he teases, his hands gently cupping your cheeks. “sunoo!” you protest, but he just laughs, stealing a quick peck on your lips. “what? just speaking the truth, baby. you’re perfect.”

𝗬𝗔𝗡𝗚 𝗝𝗨𝗡𝗚𝗪𝗢𝗡 "oh, you look so good," jungwon mutters, his eyes flickering between yours and the glasses perched on your nose, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. before you can respond, he’s already pushing the frames up to rest on top of your head, his hands slipping to cradle your face. “what are you—” your words are cut off as he leans in, pressing a kiss to your lips, then another, and another, each one lingering a little longer. “jungwon!” you mumble against his mouth, trying not to smile, but he just hums, completely unbothered, his thumbs stroking your cheeks. “sorry, couldn’t help it,” he says, but the mischievous glint in his eyes says otherwise. “you’re too pretty, baby. i need all the kisses right now.” his lips brush yours again, and you can’t even pretend to be annoyed when he’s holding you like this.

𝗡𝗜𝗦𝗛𝗜𝗠𝗨𝗥𝗔 𝗥𝗜𝗞𝗜 “look at you, my little nerd,” riki snickers, leaning in way too close to your face just to get a reaction. “stop calling me that!” you whine, trying to shove him away, but he’s already smirking, his hands darting out to gently steal your glasses. “give those back, riki!” you protest, but he’s too quick, slipping them onto his face. “oh my god, how do you even see with these? are you blind or something?” he teases, squinting dramatically as he stumbles around the room for effect. “you’re such a loser,” he laughs, dodging your attempt to grab them back. “riki, i swear—” you start, but he cuts you off by peeking over the glasses with a cheeky grin. “okay, okay, you’re cute though,” he admits, handing them back with a wink. as you put them on, he kisses your cheek and murmurs, “but still a nerd. my hot nerd.”

"W-Wah...!" Ortho scarcely had any time to formulate an appropriate reaction before he was accosted from both sides. They had leapt out from the Queen of Hearts' statue, like jaguars pouncing on unsuspecting prey. The three tablets floating beside Ortho were sent spiraling.

"B-Bwah?!" Idia sputtered from his end, eyes bulging at what his video feed was picking up. There was his poor little brother, smothered by a pair of flashy women. "A normie sneak attack!?"

To Idia's horror, he could see painted nails studded with jewelry running all over the boy's face and hair. He leapt out of his gaming chair, seizing his computer monitor with both hands.

"C-Calm down, Ortho! CALM DOWN, DON'T PANIC!! Y-Your big brother will help you out of this pinch... e-except I don't know how to deal with 3D women!! Th-There's no dialogue selection option IRL...!!"

Idia loudly snorted, far less amused than his brother was. "Cosplay? Are you blind? I'm insulted that you'd even suggest such a stupid idea. Check out the rocket boosters in his feet, the complex circuity in his chassis, the artificial intelligence with a limitless capacity to learn. It's all Ortho."

"That's right! Our Idia built Or-kun from scratch all on his own!" Mrs. Shroud chirped. "Ahhh, our sons are our pride and joy! Aren't they, Papa?"

Mr. Shroud drew out a sigh. "... Yes, dear."

Their tablets drew close and snuggled (or attempted to). Idia could only imagine that his parents had embraced one another on the other end of the line. Hot pink and neon blue twinning.

"Oh, bleh." He rolled his eyes. Mom and dad are being gross and mushy in public again.

Suddenly, his video feed jerked down. Idia got a chunk of pavement, then an eyeful of twinkling makeup and nails. The first of the Diamond sisters had seized his tablet, posing with it in front of her.

"Is he, like, in frame now?" she asked Cater, who flashed her a thumbs up.

"Perfect~ Now everyone else can squeeze in!"

At Cater's direction, his other sister rushed over. Ortho was tugged along like a balloon on a string--though he didn't put up any resistance. The Shroud parents allowed their tablets to lower to the appropriate height for the picture. Cater held his phone out, the camera flipped.

All eager for the photograph except for one.

"D-Don't I get a say in this?!" Idia weakly protested.

Cater laughed--and it sounded a little mean to Idia, as light-hearted as it was. "Sure, you get a say in this! I'll let you know what to say: cheese!"

“Welcome to our new Episode of Flower Village” Pd-nim said and they cheered and introduced themselves. A pair of Fox-like sharp brown eyes found yours from the other side of the camera and a smile came to your lips. As Pd-nim queued you to start the interview.

The interview went on “…That’s a cute concept. I wonder where Yeonjun-ssi finds his inspiration from?” you read from your script. You tried your best to not get distracted by his eyes and followed it peril-lessly.

He smiled, almost a flirty smirk, at the camera but if you didn’t know you’d think his smirk was directed towards you. “I draw experiences from the world, around me dramas and stories, people even” he said and as if on queue you noticed Taehyun and Beomgyu smile towards you and mumbling something to each other and chuckling. A blush rushed onto your cheek and you didn’t look up for the rest of the interview, not like anyone would care who’s behind the camera anyway.

“Pd-nim, Y/n Pd-nim” You heard your name being called and you turned around to find Yeonjun rushing towards you. This man will be the death of you, you thought. “Hello Yeonjun-ssi” you greeted bowing a little (To maintain etiquette mostly). “How have you been? You look tired” he stated, more that asking “I should be asking you that, You’re the one having a comeback and a tour followed by it” you said. “Do I look tired?” he said his eyes mischievous, feigning surprise as he touched his cheek and fake-frowned. “I made sure to complete my beauty sleep, for today” he added. Your mind raced at the way he emphasised on today, did he mean what you were thinking, hoping he means?

“Ah, No no that’s not how I meant it” you said and were about to explain further but your boss called you, saving you from further embarrassment and excused yourself.

You were almost done with work and were about to leave when your coworker from the editing desk called you.

“And saved the day” you said having heard enough “It was a harrowing day, probably one of my first shoots” I chuckled and as if on queue Jin left. Not before winking and pointing at the two of you. “I was very nervous that day” Yeonjun said, “I felt relieved seeing you”  

“Seeing me knock down the lights?” you joked. “No, to know I wasn’t the only one. And that’s only grown” He added.

“Into?” You asked looking into his Sharp brown eyes. “Something I’d like to see more of” he said and smiled.

“Coffee?” you asked.

“That could be a nice start” he said and smiled.

unpopular opinion: outside of "stop making her the background lesbian", An Shiraishi being unit leader makes no sense from a story standpoint. while it is odd that VBS is the only unit to do a pov switch after the opening chapter we the audience just would not get as good of a story from An's pov because we do not know the world of Vivid Street like she does. Kohane's character is designed in a way where we learn things as she does in the main story, and also unit leaders mean nothing besides marketing it's really not that big of a deal. also some people don't get AnHane at all lmao

A FIENDISH FEAST �� We briefly discussed this, but I do think that Evelynn would continue to stalk around Robin even throughout the events of Arcane, simply because he exists in such a state of mental destruction that its an easy meal for her. Robin's relationships don't magically fix his issues, and he has so many issues with relying on others that he wouldnt want them to, and he continues to suffer throughout the series because of, not only, the universe's cold indifference towards him; but his own self induced misery. I think Eve is well aware that Robin will never heal on his own, and he would rather die alone than willingly let someone in and help him.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A HUMAN? ━ Jumping off of 1 because the idea has consumed me, we've always talked about how Evelynn discovers like ... the beginning of empathy/affection towards humans through Robin, and I still think that stands - however I think it gains even more traction in this verse since they spend even more time together now that Abel doesn't exist ( at least not in the same capacity ). I think Eve is going to learn a lot more about the human experience from Robin in terms of love, joy, grief, a bunch of the things she couldn't before due to their brief window together. Whether this speeds up her own growth, or makes her even more wary of people well ...

WORLD'S 1st AKALYNN SHIPPER? ━ Considering Robin's research material and Arcane going in whatever direction in the future, depending on how the timelines overlap I think it could be really fun if Robin brought Eve with him to Ionia, probably to study Flora but also please stop eating Zaunites. He'd see her and @kalijhomentethi getting cozy by the fire and be like "wow" but also 100% support it, wah I don't know its cute within all the pain.

WHERE ARE YOU? HOW COULD I MISS YOU? ━ I am a firm believer that the cup of life can be filled in various different ways, and I know that Robin grew attached to Evelynn's persistent stalkings. Whether it was knowing he still had a use to someone, or actually having someone to talk to and -- ok actually fuck it!! I was debating putting this because it is gross but I think its important! Robin hates himself. I don't think its a shock to anyone, and he is not mentally well at all when he bonds with Eve. There is a part of me that believes he would enjoy their bond partially ( at least at first ) because he has something worse to compare himself too. I think this would obviously shift over time, but in the beginning it would be such an easy thing for his damaged little brain to latch to; until he realizes he cares for her genuinely, and she for him. He'd feel awful about it later, naturally - because deep down there is love there. I briefly planned out what Robin experiences in the Hexgate Hell™ too, and shockingly, I know Eve was not present in any of them ... And yet, when he came back; oh - how he had missed her.

BFFLS - BEST FRENEMIES FOR LIFE ━ Ok now I can write about funny things. I genuinely believe Abel and Eve have this super complex camaraderie where they have this super big like ... man I don't even wanna say dislike?? They feel like the friends who shit on eachother 24/7 to the point where its concerning but as soon as you mention your concerns to them they'd scoff and laugh at you and call you stupid or something. Abel will tolerate a lot of Eve's shit and vice versa - def shit that they wouldn't from other people. Yet despite all of their constant bickering I do think they'd show up for the other in an hour of need. And then hold it over them for the rest of existence.

WEEKLY MEETINGS AKA. FAMILY DINNER ━ This is one of the most stupid, BEST ideas we've ever had Han it kills me everytime I think about it. Abel and Eve care about Robin a lot ( even if Abel doesnt really "get" it ), and the whole weekly family dinner thing is actually so sweet considering Robin had left his familial situation. They really do co-parent him together haha. But that being said, I think its like ... Thursday nights? Yeah. I have a running gag that Abel and Eve also do the "No no. I'm paying" "Well fuck you I've already called the restaurant" "well I CANCELLED YOUR CREDIT CARD" sort of thing that my old man likes to do. I think occasionally other people get invited, friends, lovers, maybe even sometimes work collegues if they're super pressed for time. Locations and level of fanciness changes weekly, but the food is always delicious because I know Abel scopes these places out.

TELEPATHY, ENGAGED. ━ These two are so old. SO OLD. They can 100% read eachother's emotions just by looking at eachother, like Abel doesn't even have a face 99% of the time but Eve can tell when he's like are you hearing this shit? I know Abel has actual telepathy to some extent and it is also very funny in my head to imagine them in this long ass meeting, both wanting to die, and Abel just whispers "You're making a face you know. Mr Neeks has already noiced." in her brain and she just kicks his foot and he just :) But yes I believe they can read eachother pretty well

FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT FIGHT ━ I like to think they spar occasionally to keep their skills up, and because they're both very primal creatures, makes sense that the best way for them to process difficult emotions through physical violence. Monologue

Several months have passed, since I came here.

While everything was quiet and peaceful at first,

the situation made a complete 180 right after,

and even right now,

things are rapidly changing in the Demon World.

The trigger for all of this,

was Karlheinz-san,

both the Vapire King and the Supreme Overlord of the Demon World,

and his decision to pass down his powers to one of his sons.

The once stable and peaceful state of the Demon World,

took a turn for the worst in the blink of an eye.

As soon as that happened,

the other Demonic races came to the conclusion,

that now while the new ruler was still inexperienced,

it would be the prime opportunity to steal the throne,

with various conflicts breaking out all over the country...

Yui: ( The Vampire, Wolf, Adler and Vibora Clan...Those are the four main sub-species of the Demon World. )

( Aside from those, there’s Founders like Carla-san and Shin-kun...The First Bloods. )

( Not only do they stand independent from any other race, they possess great powers. That’s why several other clans have reached out to them.

( ...Because they want to use their powers to their own advantage. )

( Seems like today as well, several Familiars from different species came to visit Banmaden one after the other. )

( However, it seems like those two have been sending all of them back home empty-handed. )

Shin: The same as usual. It’s pretty clear that all they care about are our powers. 

They could really benefit from some manners, I had to stop myself from simply burning them all to the ground. 

Carla: It cannot be helped. It only makes sense that they would seek out stronger allies.

Shin: But you know, it’s so blatantly obviously that they’re trying to be in control since we’re outnumbered. 

That sort of arrogant attitude really pisses me off ...!

Yui: ( Seems like Shin-kun is really stressed out from having to deal with various other Demons day after day. )

Shin: I mean, they won’t say it with that many words, but they underestimate us way too much just because there’s only two of us.

Carla: However, it is true that it is just us two. So they must be jumping to conclusions.

What do we gain from keeping up with this!?

since I last heard the name of said illness drop.

Carla-san has been pretending,

Even now that the symptoms are seemingly under control,

it would make perfect sense for him to continue,

to feel the crushing pressure of reality.

I believe that he must have been hiding it,

not wanting to talk about his illness,

in front of us.

When I think about that,

my chest ached in pain.

Yui: ( Endzeit will never disappear ーー that being said, I’m pretty sure he’ll get upset if I show too much concern... )

Yui: ( ...Huh? )

Yui: ( Is that Shin-kun trying to enter the woods leading a pack of wolves!? )

( Carla-san is...not with him. )

They’ve always done a splendid job at protecting their territory from outsiders. They have a strong sense of duty and their King possesses great qualities of leadership. 

I figured they would be the best party to form an alliance with.

Carla: I see. However, listen carefully, Shin.

Carla: I made a rare exception in that man’s case because he seemed to worship us.

My heart began to beat faster,

when he corrected his statement to ‘the three of us’.

It felt as if they had acknowledged me,

as one of them,

giving me a warm feeling inside my honest.

However, cutting through the happiness,

was the anxiety looming in the back of my heart. 

There will be opponents,

we will have to face off against. 

And then there’s this guy,

who suddenly showed up and dubbed himself the new Adam.

I wonder if I will be able to safely make it out,

of this battle over sovereignty,

which lies at the very core of all the chaos in the Demon World?

Episode 8

Now. I wanted to end it all here. But I thought I'd separate the final episode from the others and so that we would have 5 parts :) (I just like the numbers like that. Okay?)

The name of the episode has so much meaning- oh god...

The deer- 😭 how did it even end up there?? And Zoey saving it- the tightrope (how did it even end up in the cyber realm??)

"Stop! Stop! Shoo!"

You're supposed to be saving it- but I guess you have to be alive to do so (also, the sounds it makes when it nibbles on the rope- lol)

"It's easy to get scared when you're all alone" (awh-)

"There you are! You know, I could've used your help with this"

Izzie our trustworthy ally of an anime watcher. She saw enough shows to know this. And she is... very right about it. I didn't notice this before... wow. She- she guessed his entire life

"I'm curious what lava feels like, but I'm not gonna go stick my hand in it"

And Mateo and Cooper in the background- just staring at her blankly lol (the background is really interesting to look at in this season) and when they get told to stop Logan while he tried to catch the clock, Izzie's pose- it's so cute😍 and again, Mateo and Cooper just like- blank

The alarm clock went to 19 to 12 seconds a bit too fast...? I think

"Wah, wait. Why are you guys backing up? Is it my breath? Oh, nuts!"

The alarm wasn't a loud one. I guess it's just dream magic?

"If you and Mr. Oz are sort of the same, why do you stay here in the Dream World when he wakes up?" I was thinking the same thing! So many questions about Albert! Unsolved!!

"Isn't there a part of you that's always dreaming?" (But this doesn't satisfy all the questions I have)

So.... they're just training with all these random people being there with them?

Well unicorns! And Mateo's actually doing something! And Cooper- ...I thought you moved on from the vehicles (his face literally reads "yeah. I thought I did too. Why did I do that?")

Astrid has great neck movement(?). You think she can do the arm thing? Like the noodle arms or.. whatever you call it

Zoey was here the whole time? I was honestly kinda surprised when I was the episode for the first time. What do you mean she was just standing there this whole time?

"This better not be BFF talk" what's bff talk? That thing exists?

Also, what does Izzie mean by "I won't ask about you dad again" again?? You mean- she just constantly kept asking about him? Trying to help Zoey? Ooh so nice

"We get to throw things at Logan"

"Oh man, there goes Cooper! This things gnarly"

The throwing-... and Cooper again. Why is he always the punching bag in the back? Poor guy... (also, if you wake up in a dream as an aware dreamer unexpectedly, or was forced, what's wrong with that? Can't you just... fall asleep again? Or... does some weird magic in the dream world stop you from doing that?)

Izzie, I thought you said you won't ask about her dad-

And do these kids really not know that they divorced or something? Or.. maybe something else happened? Idk

And-- Cooper's back? What- how does this work? Did he never wake up? Was it just a close call? If you can just fall back asleep, what about Mr. Oz??!

And Logan was literally under a couch. A darn couch

Logan being determined- and Astrid turning the alarm back on- she likes them. Shes not exactly a bully. More like a.... "it's TRUE I'm better than you. You have to be better than this" .....okay. that still sounds bad-

Zoey's aunt is- so kind

"Bro-ther.... you know those are poisonous for cats. Right?" And it's already going horribly

Also, the dreamling costume is like- adorable! But how did he pull that off? You mean no one thought it would be weird that a dreamling is that big?

But Beau trying to be there and support Zoey is nice. Like he does care

But Mr. Oz, really? You don't have to eat off of the floor! (And I just realized. In the 18 years ago episode, Albert said something like "keeping the kids dreaming" or.. whatnot. So... Beau and Hannaha are pretty young back then. At least younger than mr. Oz. So.... does that mean beau talking to mr. Oz this whole time was... on purpose? "I'm going to be rude to him now! Hehe" and... how did mr Oz know that the night hunter was one of his past teammates? And how did he not connect the dots of Beau being the night hunter? And-)

I love how Zoey gets her confidence after seeing her dad. Because she still thinks that he couldn't come. Which in her case would make her feel even better that he did come. That he's really trying to make a difference. Because Zoey still thinks that her dad has to do other stuff that night. But despite that he came to see her! That's what Zoey has on her mind. That's how Zoey is seeing this. Which makes it even more of a... important thing to her

Which is... pretty cute

Am I the only person on planet Earth who finds RE2make Leon incredibly frustrating? Do I LIKE him? Yes. Do I think he's overrated? Also yes. It's because I don't find him cute and naive, I find him outright stupid.

I mean... he's a twenty one year old fighting a hoard of zombies practically all alone, so he deserves some leeway. But by god. That man. That man has never been outside before. He's just so easy to push around and manipulate, that I can't help but whine and roll my eyes. I feel so mean saying it, but I know for a damn fact that if I was caught up in the RC tragedy, RE2make Leon is the last person I'd want to help me, I don't care if I'm unfit and can't use a gun. Our relations would end in violence. If somebody's trying to eat my face, I don't want some shit-for-brains, wah-where's-my-crush, boyscout fucker. Am I likely to die in under ten minutes, because of my sheer lack of patience? Yes, but RE2make Leon isn't some innocent little cutie, he's an overachieving annoying asshole and I'll (literally) die on that hill.

Claire's the best part of RE2make, there I said it. Forever sad at how little she's been utilised since.

i feel like you're conflating RE2make and OGRE2 leon a lot in this and your brain is picking out the worst traits of each of them and mashing them together and unconsciously biasing you into being more pissed than you probably ought to be

RE2make leon's negative traits: + confirmation bias born out of + intense naivety that requires him to + reject the reality in front of him because he + has to believe that there's still an order to things which leads him to having + poor judgment

OGRE2 leon's negative traits: + fucking arrogant dumbass who legit thinks he knows better than the people around him despite not knowing shit + follows ada around blindly because of the aforementioned arrogance making him feel Obligated to Protect The Lady + accepts everything that's said to him as truth on its face without bothering to question it, for no other reason than sheer dumbassery, then has the gall to go full surprised pikachu when it comes out that people lie + basically pulls a "lol it's fine claire u got this" several times throughout the game in order to chase ada, giving the justification that ada's just a civilian, forgetting that claire is ALSO A FUCKING CIVILIAN 19 YEAR OLD

RE2make leon has a brain that's just been kicked into overdrive with defense mechanisms because he's terrified, and he just kind of has to trust that this clearly suspicious lady is actually FBI because he knows that he doesn't actually know what the fuck he's doing.

OGRE2 leon just doesn't have a fucking brain at all lmao he's a walking penis with eyes who's used to being the smartest/most ambitious person in the room, which has skewed his perception of himself and the world around him to such a degree that he actually falls for the "i'm just an innocent lady looking for my boyfriend" schtick

food for the vampire au. comforting geto after his vampire transition and hardships with bloodlust by establishing a care ritual, such as brushing his hair in silence during the first kills period. while is body is still adjusting to this new reality. the experience is otherworldly and it's expected that'll take a short time. and you're there guiding him to manage his thoughts and emotions by reminding him of your touch. sometimes cleaning his hands and changing his shirt (more like just taking it off and letting it fall to the floor, haha). soft humming in the background. the world is peaceful here. maybe his cheeks are still stained in red. to take care of each other. to be loved. it's one of the most important things during such a big change and it touches the very core of his heart. and it turns into a lifelong ritual of intimacy even after geto is well and a skillful vampire. he still falls into the gentleness of having you brush his long, long hair softly. domestic. simplicity in how it takes place. he's forever grateful for the life he's been gifted by your side. i think it's a cute concept. big strong guy gets his long ass hair brushed and care for by his beloved wife.

he really is a stray cat who was given a warm home and more importantly someone who takes care of him. washing the blood of his hands and face, washing his hair while he sits in the massive bathtub, combing it, dressing him - it's all done with so much care he doesn't know what to do with himself at first. it all feels so unnatural.

letting him drink your blood (bc he deserves the best) from your wrist, watching him try to hold back on the urge, the need, to drink more. he never takes too much. never. you have to push him to drink more because he has to. silly man. he's just soooooo grateful for you and he doesn't wanna be too much but you just keep reminding him that he isn't. he's here, he's alive, he's with you and he deserves everything in the world.

during the days (first hours maybe even) there's so much happening i imagine him snapping at you or just acting very rash. his hands are jittery because he needs to eat, he needs to drink. and you're so calm and it's throwing him off so much but then you calmly caress his face and offer him your neck with a soft eyes and a smile and it's just ohhhhhh. he knows you'll take care of him. Even though it was Kanata who fell down, Mikejima looks like he’s hurting too.

Seems my parents were blamed a lot by other believers. In other words, they’re basically complaining because their dignity was hurt.

Kanata: Sorry. But, you looked like you were in pain.

Madara: I’m not crying, and in the end you didn’t even get to see her, so it was a mess.

Nothing went right at all. The mission was a massive failure.

I wonder why the body wasn’t there, thoughhh…?

Kanata: Don’t know. Didn’t the chief priest, I mean, Father say it was the work of Abyss?

Madara: Whether it was ABYSS or Ebisu[1], who knows, does something like that reaaally exist?

Kanata: Don’t know that either… Kanata is not yet a god, so he does not know anything.

Madara: Hmph. That doesn’t matter to me, you say I didn’t do anything wrong, but I’m to blame too—What I did was wrong, you knooow.

That’s why I got scolded. Because I broke what’s taboo.

Kanata: Taboo… Why is it that Kanata cannot go outside?

Because Kanata falls down and gets hurt? And so, everyone is worried about him?

Madara: Probably because it diminishes the mystique. God is out of reach, always hidden behind a bamboo curtain or something.

Because they can’t see them, their delusions grow, and they will see you as more sacred.

Such misunderstandings of such believers is what’s necessary to maintain this religion.

That’s why you, who will someday become God, have been hidden from the world. If anyone meets you in person, they’ll find out you’re a dumb and stupid brat just like me.

Kanata: Dumb? Stupid? What does that mean?

Madara: It means “beautiful” and “cute”.

Kanata: I see… Then there’s nothing wrong with that, ehehe. ♪

Madara: Hmm, God really is stupid. He’s soooo stupid it’s hilarious!

Kanata: Worship and praise Kanata more! Ehem ehem. ♪

Madara: Haha. …Aaalright, treatment is over. As always, God’s hair was so uselessly long it got in the way and made things haaard!

Kanata: Mhm. Kanata thinks it gets in the way too.

Sometimes, Kanata’s hair gets in his mouth when he’s sleeping, and it gets hard to breathe. It’s troubling. If you can’t breathe, you die.

Madara: I’ll sneak you a haircut one of these days.

Kanata: You can’t. Hair can’t be cut. Eye veil can’t be taken off either.

It’s forbidden. And if Mikejima breaks what’s forbidden, he’ll get yelled at again.

Kanata doesn’t want Mikejima to get yelled at, be hurt, or feel sad.

Madara: I see. Thank you.

But, I really can’t just leave you be like this, you knooow?

Kanata: Kanata will be satisfied. He’ll be bored, but he has Mikejima for that.

But. That’s also why Kanata was very scared he wouldn’t ever get to see Mikejima again.

Madara: You’re such a spoiled child, God. Do you get lonely when I’m not here?

Kanata: Of course Kanata does.

Madara: I see. …But truth is, it’s forbidden to meet God so casually, you knooow! I snuck outta cram school again, today.

Studying for lower grades is boring because I already understand everything to a T. So I came here to play instead.

Kanata: W-Will everything be okay? Did you break what’s forbidden again? You’ll get yelled at.

Madara: It’s all good as long as they don’t find out. Hahaha!

Kanata: Once Kanata becomes a god, he will change many, many rules. He’ll make it so they can’t get angry even if Mikejima and Kanata are close.

So, wait for him. Because, it’ll be okay.

Just might have to wait a little bit longer.

Madara: Gotchaa. Well, I’ll wait and see, but I won’t expect too much.

Kanata: Mhm. You can count on it.

It’ll all work out, okay? God doesn’t lie.

Debut: New Super Mario Bros.

So the Super Mario Wiki recently welcomed a beautiful newborn article into the world, about the “Bah” sounds from the New Super Mario Bros. games! And it inspired me to want to write a post too, but you know, I was a little hesitant about just mooching off someone else’s hard work and research... until I realized I’ve been doing that since the start of the blog! So why stop now?

We’ve always loved to push the limits of what we can cover on this blog and run any possible qualifications into the ground, so I thought it would be pretty fun to talk about a Weird Mario Sound! (That rhymed, I guess??)

Huh? What’s that? I already kinda did that with the Baby Face post? Well, erm, see... that’s different because... HEY look behind you! An expository paragraph!

If you’ve played any of the New Super games I’ll bet you need no introduction to the sound of “Bah”. You know, the little vocal bits in the songs that a bunch of the enemies would dance along to? The Goombas hop, the Koopas turn their heads, and even the items jump a little!

Needless to say this changed everything. As Videogamers we’re all used to grooving to our favorite Videogame Tracks and Tunes! But to think that even the wonderful little guys in the screen can hear the little ditties that play really changed the way we think about Super Mario, on a metaphysical level. How can we merrily crush a turt beneath our feet knowing they too can enjoy the sweet hymns of Kondo Koji & Co.?

And if you’re playing with the sound off, uh... sorry to hear that? What are you, a cop?  

Everyone loved it so much that they did it more in the other games. Like in New Super Mario Bros. Wii! This image is not from New Super Mario Bros. Wii. It’s from New Super Mario Bros. U. It is hard to find images for a sound effect.

Anyway, yes! They updated a few of the animations in this game (like the Koopa Troopas now do a little jig instead of just moving their head!), but they also added quite a few new ones!

Like Pokey, who turns into Orange (fruit)! Have you ever seen a cactus creature turn into oranges before your very eyes? Have you ever wanted to swallow them whole? If you’re a Yoshi then you can! Yum!

And later on, in New Super Mario Bros. U, the Bramballs got to become fruit too! Wow! Happy Pride! “Bah” truly is the voice of god! This one looks more like a mandarin or a tangerine to me. Anyway, you can find a nice little chart with all the enemy behaviours on the wiki page. Check it out!

Oh, I guess I haven’t actually talked about the “Bah” sound itself yet, huh? I mean, I think it’s cute! Everyone likes a bit of accapella! Actually, the “Bah” sound most likely originated in Mario 64, with that little mission select jingle, which got reused in 64 DS! Some people might argue it sounds more like “Pah”, but I think it’s compressed enough that it doesn’t really matter. If we can all agree on the name “Bah”, that just makes everyone’s life a bit easier, doesn’t it? When I was a kid, I thought it sounded like “Wah”, but I was a stupid kid and you shouldn’t have listened to me!

But can mankind’s hubris take it too far? What happens when there’s TOO much “Bah”? Well, take a listen to this, buster!

In New Super Mario Bros. 2, they added a whole load of “Bahs” to both the overworld and athletic themes, and uh... I don’t really like it! Well, they might sound more like “Lah”, but my point is it’s a bit too much...! They’ve completely taken over, like an invasive species of soundbite! They even added “Bahs” to the songs where they don’t really fit as well, like the castle and the ghost house themes! But I think “Bahs” are best in moderation. Like drugs!

They reverted most of this in New Super Mario Bros. U though. Phew! I guess hubris isn’t real after all. If you take any moral from this post, it’s to challenge the authority of god and turn into a citrus fruit when you hear a musical cue! I want to be a clementine. See you next time!
