you may also call them tangerines, cuties, halos, mini oranges, or something else!! i'm talking about the small, orange citrus often sold in net/mesh bags that you can peel and separate into pieces for easy eating, not the large oranges that most people cut up to eat. look up clementine if you're confused.

This is The Clementine Manifesto.

My name is Astrid, and I wrote/created With Purpose: The Clementine Manifesto. This document is a few things. It's a 'manifesto to my personal community', so it's a love letter to all Sapphics, and to my own lesbianism. It is also an invitation for you (also sapphic) to participate in the art project (With Purpose) that will become my senior capstone. (I'm getting a BFA in Design.)

You can do a few things:

You can read the manifesto and comment on it!

You can (please) send it to other people who would like it!!

You can submit additional relevant art/photos/writing that you or other people created.

If you are in the Milwaukee area, you can come and join one of two conversations I'm having.

If you're not in the Milwaukee area, you can hold your own conversation in your community. (please send me pictures of these!!)

Thinking about how this time last year I started watching Yellowjackets and was very obsessed with it and how all the cannibalism metaphors led me to consume copious amounts of clementines. And I had a methodic way of peeling them because cannibalism metaphor. What I would do is drag my thumb nail over the clementine to quarter the skin and peel it off in little sections.

I just had two clementines and life is actually so good. I might eat a third one if I’m feeling crazy. Insomnia and anxiety are one thing (2 actually) but nothing compares to the jolly part of me that clementines dig up.

Clementines

I picked up these two clementines today. Such a silly thing; why did I do it? Breaking through the skin, and oh how the scent Drove me mad-wild, because I thought of you.
