howeverrr, she does NOT know sol is also jane, so. it's a pretty superficial crush in her eyes. a lot of heroes have a civilian or two they enjoy saving a liiiittle bit more than others, right? which makes it excellent cannon fodder for her to mess around with sol with. the BEEFERS!! woulddd morph back off if she knew the extent of sol's relationship with sammy...? Thinking about Ji.

Thinking about how he’s the last surviving member of his tribe.

Thinking about how any language or dialect his tribe may have had, is lost forever. Ji’s mind is not meant to remember everything. They forget, and the longer they live, the less they remember their own culture.

He loses the dances his people used to perform. They can’t recall the sound of the music they played. Clothing, food, rituals, even the kind of incense they burned. All of it is gone.

Ji hates that it was him who got the curse of immortality, but I feel like part of that is because he isn’t anything special. It could have been anyone— a poet, a scholar, someone who could better represent the culture that inevitably eroded away with time. Someone who could keep their people alive in more than a literal sense.

But instead, it’s Ji. Unambitious, unremarkable Ji whose only virtue is their immortality. Ji, who can’t play an instrument when they find an old hymn from their tribe, still intact. Ji, who can’t even remember the feeling of their own language in their mouth.

The hollow pit that forms when you forget something that should never be forgotten.

Mad At Yi Why Anon - Thanks for explaining! It makes more sense now lol. I never expected them to be grateful for being "saved," I'd just think it's certainly a choice for them to Most Mad at the only guy who wasn't going to let them rot. But if it's a "we need someone to blame" then that makes sense.

Even if he wasn’t gonna let them rot, he WAS gonna take them out with him had his True Ending Sacrifice gone as it had in the game. They don’t know this, this is just extra DoobYi characterization. But he wasn’t expecting to be alive, either tbh.

That said, he takes the public opinion of him and the Sols very seriously and doesn’t blame them even if sometimes the grievances are heavy-handed. This is a Yi who will apologize many times over for the actions of the council, for the failure of the project, for the lies and the lives ruined, both apemen and solarian, and for the individual hurts he’s caused to Kuafu, Goumang, Shaunshuan and Heng. If Eigong and many of the other Sols are not here to share the responsibility, then he will shoulder the blame, as he believes he should. Even if, y’know, everyone who IS glad he didn’t die is telling him to knock it off.

have been thinking about professor sol even. professor bufo with no clearly discernable lesson plan. sol bufo ostensibly martial arts professor who spent two weeks running a yoga and meditation program and shows up to the next class with crochet hooks for everyone. professor bufo who is technically supposed to be assigning grades to students but hasnt given anyone less than an A because "i think they worked really hard and they did a great job :)" (referring to the ugliest and most malformed pot holder anyone has laid eyes upon in their life). professor bufo who is on his way to cluelessly kickstart the sexual awakening of about half the cohort of the academys new students. sol bufo adjunct professor who is gone half the year and his first class back is so immediately and easily baited into going into a long tangent about how cool his friends are. sol who is pretty sure hes easily the most useless professor on campus and almost cries when he sees his little desk overflowing with thank you notes at the end of the year. professor bufo absolutely fucking gloriously hot in the tightest little sweater vest because there were faculty complaints when he wore a crop top to class.

Recently, I've been treating myself to a "Solomon inspired" drink based on this tiktok. I wasn't sure if I could recreate it at home, but I've finally gotten around to it and found it's...very simple! I've simplified the recipe a little, because I'm not a barista lol, and I thought I'd share it here for anyone who'd like to try it!

Similarly to the post, I do half iced coffee (pre-made vanilla favored) and half homemade sweet black tea, though that can vary if you're not as much of a sweet tooth like I am. And then I just add a little hazelnut creamer...I don't have a measurement for that, I just eyeball it. And that's it!

I've had the original recipe made professionally a few years ago, and my simplified version tastes exactly like it, even without all the other added things. So, I thought I'd share and maybe make someone else's day with a yummy, totally doable, drink. 😊
