look, i dont use it, i have no need nor do i enjoy using it. but you do have to apply a little bit of other perspective to it.
these predictive algorithms work by recognizing patterns in different areas of media and constantly optimizing their outputs, recreating them. it is giving a rough estimate of what is fed into it plus whatever parameters have been set for it to stick to. it gives an average answer to any question, regardless of whether it is right or wrong. it's why it has a meltdown with creative writing and why Google Gemini was so insane (it was only as insane as the information it could find)
i dont think it's wrong to use them in some contexts. the real issues come from what is fed into it and what it's used for.
so long as 1. that context requires an average answer or solution to a question (so dont use it to replace creative ppl or stuff like that) 2. the AI isnt stealing content that it shouldnt (not just art but also classified documents) and 3. it doesnt kill the environment or other people (i am fully against AI if it is actively killing the environment, but so far i havent seen any other sources proving such. i will gladly take these sources though), i dont see that much of a problem with it.
do please keep in mind i am not a computer scientist, and dont fully understand the inner workings of this software. however, from what i have seen and read, this feels pretty accurate.

bluesky is honestly so nice and wholesome. the communities there reminds me a lot of tumblrs, i’ve really felt at home 🥹 my bluesky
some of the unique things i’ve liked:
- moderation lists: massive human made blocklists. they have lists for MAGAs, Nazis, genAI users/posters, NFT bros, spammers bots etc. truly amazing.
- starter packs: again human made lists of people they recommend to follow. there’s so many starter packs, from artist to follow, musicians, writers, even shitposters lmao.
- feeds: customizable, public timelines. you can create your own or join one of the thousands of feeds out there. you can also create a feed just for your art, so if you have a messy media tab, it keeps your art posts clean and organized!!
- blocking/muting: they have an amazing blocking system. when you block they can’t see your posts or even search you o. the site. they also allow you to mute people, delete specific replies, and even let you detach your post from a quote reblog if they’re trying to cause drama. honestly the best for a drama free environment. they also have very nice post filters so you can mute or completely block posts containing specific words or phrase!
- community: after blocking all the moderation lists it really just seems like a nice oasis for artists, creatives and others to connect with each other and get new followings. i’ve had a lot of people discover my art there and immediate support. it was super sweet.
- NSFW: not really something i like but i know a lot of others will; they allow NSFW content, art and otherwise. They have GREAT moderation so if you’re not interested in seeing those types of post be sure to turn on your content moderation settings.
#i love how much you can customize your algorithm#they have MASSIVE blocklists so you can auto block MAGAs/nazis/terfs/AI etc#it is SO nice#and everyone on the site seems to genuinely want to make it work and stay there#hope it succeeds!

at some point it's just like. do they even fucking like the thing they're asking AI to make? "oh we'll just use AI for all the scripts" "we'll just use AI for art" "no worries AI can write this book" "oh, AI could easily design this"
like... it's so clear they've never stood in the middle of an art museum and felt like crying, looking at a piece that somehow cuts into your marrow even though the artist and you are separated by space and time. they've never looked at a poem - once, twice, three times - just because the words feel like a fired gun, something too-close, clanging behind your eyes. they've never gotten to the end of the movie and had to arrive, blinking, back into their body, laughing a little because they were holding their breath without realizing.
"oh AI can mimic style" "AI can mimic emotion" "AI can mimic you and your job is almost gone, kid."
... how do i explain to you - you can make AI that does a perfect job of imitating me. you could disseminate it through the entire world and make so much money, using my works and my ideas and my everything.
and i'd still keep writing.
i don't know there's a word for it. in high school, we become aware that the way we feel about our artform is a cliche - it's like breathing. over and over, artists all feel the same thing. "i write because i need to" and "my music is how i speak" and "i make art because it's either that or i stop existing." it is such a common experience, the violence and immediacy we mean behind it is like breathing to me - comes out like a useless understatement. it's a cliche because we all feel it, not because the experience isn't actually persistent. so many of us have this ... fluttering urgency behind our ribs.
i'm not doing it for the money. for a star on the ground in some city i've never visited. i am doing it because when i was seven i started taking notebooks with me on walks. i am doing it because in second grade i wrote a poem and stood up in front of my whole class to read it out while i shook with nerves. i am doing it because i spent high school scribbling all my feelings down. i am doing it for the 16 year old me and the 18 year old me and the today-me, how we can never put the pen down. you can take me down to a subatomic layer, eviscerate me - and never find the source of it; it is of me. when i was 19 i named this blog inkskinned because i was dramatic and lonely and it felt like the only thing that was actually permanently-true about me was that this is what is inside of me, that the words come up over everything, coat everything, bloom their little twilight arias into every nook and corner and alley
"we're gonna replace you". that is okay. you think that i am writing to fill a space. that someone said JOB OPENING: Writer Needed, and i wrote to answer. you think one raindrop replaces another, and i think they're both just falling. you think art has a place, that is simply arrives on walls when it is needed, that is only ever on demand, perfect, easily requested. you see "audience spending" and "marketability" and "multi-line merch opportunity"
and i see a kid drowning. i am writing to make her a boat. i am writing because what used to be a river raft has long become a fully-rigged ship. i am writing because you can fucking rip this out of my cold dead clammy hands and i will still come back as a ghost and i will still be penning poems about it.
it isn't even love. the word we use the most i think is "passion". devotion, obsession, necessity. my favorite little fact about the magic of artists - "abracadabra" means i create as i speak. we make because it sluices out of us. because we look down and our hands are somehow already busy. because it was the first thing we knew and it is our backbone and heartbreak and everything. because we have given up well-paying jobs and a "real life" and the approval of our parents. we create because - the cliche again. it's like breathing. we create because we must.
you create because you're greedy.
#every time someones like ''AI will replace u" im like. u will have to fucking KILL ME#there is no replacement here bc i am not filling a position. i am just writing#and the writing is what i need to be doing#writeblr#this probably doesn't make sense bc its sooo frustrating i rarely speak it the way i want to#edited for the typo wrote it and then was late to a meeting lol#i love u people who mention my typos genuinely bc i don't always catch them!!!! :) it is doing me a genuine favor!!!#my friend says i should tell you ''thank you beta editors'' but i don't know what that means#i made her promise it isn't a wolf fanfiction thing. so if it IS a wolf thing she is DEAD to me (just kidding i love her)#hey PS PS PS ??? if ur reading this thinking what it's saying is ''i am financially capable of losing this'' ur reading it wrong#i write for free. i always have. i have worked 5-7 jobs at once to make ends meet.#i did not grow up with access or money. i did not grow up with connections or like some kind of excuse#i grew up and worked my fucking ASS OFF. and i STILL!!! wrote!!! on the side!!! because i didn't know how not to!!!#i do not write for money!!!! i write because i fuckken NEED TO#i could be in the fucking desert i could be in the fuckken tundra i could be in total darkness#and i would still be writing pretentious angsty poetry about it#im not in any way saying it's a good thing. i'm not in any way implying that they're NOT tryna kill us#i'm saying. you could take away our jobs and we could go hungry and we could suffer#and from that suffering (if i know us) we'd still fuckin make art.#i would LOVE to be able to make money doing this! i never have been able to. but i don't NEED to. i will find a way to make my life work#even if it means being miserable#but i will not give up this thing. for the whole world.

How Does Artificial Intelligence Work: A Comprehensive Guide to Understanding the Fundamentals of AI
In this guide, we'll delve into the fundamentals of AI and shed light on the inner workings of this extraordinary field and will know actually how does artificial intelligence work. So, let's embark on an exciting journey to demystify the world of artificial intelligence.
Understanding Artificial Intelligence
Artificial intelligence, or AI for short, is like a magical symphony of intelligence and machines dancing together in perfect harmony. It is the art and science of creating computer systems that possess the ability to learn, reason, and make decisions similar to human beings. AI is the manifestation of our quest to replicate the intricate workings of the human mind and unlock the mysteries of intelligence.
How does artificial intelligence work?
Imagine a vast ocean of data, shimmering with endless possibilities. AI dives into this ocean headfirst, searching for patterns, connections, and hidden gems of knowledge. It utilizes a technique called machine learning, which is like a magical potion that enables computers to learn from data without explicit programming. These machines are trained using algorithms, which are like spells guiding them on their learning journey.
But the heart and soul of AI lie in its neural networks, the enchanted webs that mimic the complexities of the human brain. These networks are comprised of interconnected nodes, like tiny neurons buzzing with electric magic. Information flows through these neural pathways, transforming into intricate patterns, memories, and understandings.
The area of natural language processing has likewise given artificial intelligence the gift of language. Like a linguistic wizard, it can decipher the intricacies of human speech, transforming spoken words into digital meaning. It understands our queries, responds to our commands, and engages in conversations with an eerie human-like understanding.
The Importance of Artificial Intelligence Courses
As the demand for AI professionals continues to soar, it is essential to gain the necessary skills and knowledge to thrive in this field. Artificial intelligence courses provide a comprehensive understanding of AI principles, algorithms, and techniques. By enrolling in such courses, you can learn how to develop AI models, implement machine learning algorithms, and create intelligent systems. These courses also offer hands-on experience, allowing you to apply your knowledge to real-world problems and projects.
Conclusion
Overall we can say that artificial intelligence is a realm of endless possibilities, where machines and intelligence intertwine. It is a wondrous symphony of data, algorithms, and neural networks, harmonizing to create intelligent systems. By understanding how artificial intelligence works, we unlock the door to a world of innovation, where machines learn, reason, and make decisions with a touch of magic.

Finding out that ALL of my works, including those that are on-going and some that were deleted, have been uploaded to some random "Archive" without my information or consent is definitely not how I wanted my day to go
#respectfully what the fuck#currently wasting my lunch break on my 10hr work day to figure out how many of my fics are on there#only to realise it's probably all of them#the entitlement of some people is bewildering#and that's only a couples days after the whole AI scraping thing#like there’s no respect for ao3 authors. none

The Met Used AI For Their New Costume Institute Exhibition And I'm Not Sure How I Feel About It.
breakdown:
How did they use AI? Was it in a capacity where they could have used human digital artists? The wording on the website makes it sound like they used both- whether anyone was put out of a potential job by it has a huge impact on how I feel about it. But that's not disclosed online
"We used AI and CGI to demonstrate how these fragile garments would move on a body!" you all will do ANYTHING but talk to real people who have lived experience of wearing similar clothing- many of whom are also museum professionals and historians! Historical Costumer and History Worker are not mutually exclusive! friendly reminder that Abby Cox and Nicole Rudolph and Cheyney McKnight and many others all work or have worked in this field professionally beyond the YouTube space, to say nothing of people like Ruth Goodman who do experiential archaeology fully outside of social media! -won't you like geez. I'd rather have a video of Nicole Rudolph spinning in a Worth replica you paid her to make and demonstrate than an AI holograph, personally
Any incursion of AI into the museum-space worries me deeply even though AI can't do my jobs within the field...for now. If we don't stand up for those first affected, we will all fall eventually, I feel. Even nonprofits aren't immune to cost-cutting measures, especially those that run on a shoestring budget as most of our orgs do.
#museums#museum work#the met museum#the met costume institute#I wish they'd disclose exactly HOW they used AI and how they're planning to avoid putting real artists out of work with it#since. you know. they're an ARTS institution
